I have a friend that works at John Wayne airport(in O.C., Calif.)for American Airlines. He said the issue is tying down and securing some landing gear wiring. Problem is the mechanics were given the wrong instructions on how it was to be done. So every plane has to be redone. Thats why a two day job is turning into a 5 day job. No conspiracy here-next thread! ;)

"The airline industry is living on borrowed time," Rockerfeller said.

"Darryl Jenkins, an analyst who teaches airline management at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla., said he didn't think it was necessary "to ground an entire fleet and inconvenience hundreds of thousands of people" when many of the inspections and maintenance jobs could have been done at night. He accused the FAA of swinging back and forth between being too cozy with the airline industry and being too rigid." might want to tell your friend to start studying for his civil service exam.

I doubt that. I believe they are either military or maybe NATO planes (because if they were to say "America doesn't have planes spraying the skies," they won't be lying. Plausible deniability. Their bread and butter). Mostly because of the three month halt to chemtrail spraying immediately following Katrina. I mean three months exactly, because I was keeping track and watching daily. I had wondered what the explanation was for that and then a year or so later I just happened upon a report saying that planes used for chemtrailin' were helping relief efforts in NOLA... and it was for 3 months. 1+1=2.

Last year we had SIX GLORIOUS MONTHS of virtually chemtrail skies. Maybe a dozen over that span (which I can usually find a dozen before 7am). Then early December.....well, let's just say they made up for lost time. They even kicked up the night trailin'. Who knows? But I do know that they're probably right overhead cropdustin' us like little locusts.

But, any day without chemtrails is now considered a really good day.

I see mushroom clouds. Maybe, who knows? They have such a good track record of telling the truth to the cattle that we tend to flinch at every move they make. There are a thousand possibilities: nukes, chemtrails, biotrails, radar jamming, cabin video surveillance, cabin tasers, cabin pepper spray... maybe bays that open in mid-air to drop all passengers in designated areas. It could be genuine repairs too. But we will only get to really have a clue after the "big event" takes place, and those who will survive will have the luxury of hindsight analysis. The rest of us will be adapting to our new life in some other dimension.

It could be the other way around.  They may have discovered a vulnerability.  Bear in mind that people who don't believe committing mass murder of innocent people tend to outnumber the mass-murders.

I've been posting in various places about the possibility of electronic hijacking by tampering with planes.  Can't say I post to any Truther(TM) sites.  I am banned from almost all of them.  AAMOF, that kind of electronic hijacking was one of the offending suggestions I made shortly before being banned from the STJ911 forum.

Thanks, what a shame they banned you for that!

Or is this a cover story for the rewiring of a few planes for the next false flag operation, just like the "rewiring" of the World Trade Center two days before 9/11?

If they wanted to rewire a couple planes for an FFO, then that's what they'd do. No need to ground hundreds of planes and draw attention to yourself.

There are too many numbers here to justify a flaw, there are also too many tricks in the Govs bag to even speculate.

Don't forget, the Gov laid blame on the FAA in part for 911. Not that they were to blame just a good patsy to throw at the American people. For fook sake the Gov. blamed NORAD. and dedicated professional fighter pilots, no never them though HUH, they are beyond blame.

Maybe I am over analyzing but we know the globalist send out messages via MSM and they said 119 are being worked on...reverse that it is 911.

The globalists use numerology as well.

There are too many numbers here to justify a flaw, there are also too many tricks in the Govs bag to even speculate.

Having just left the military in August after 20, the very thing that the airlines are dealing with was my job as an Aircraft Electrician. I don't know what standards that the Boeing or whatever follows when they install wiring, but you can bet that they follow certian parameters such as:

wiring harness running near hydraulic lines must be kept atleast X inches from the hydraulic lines-ditto for fuel lines

chaff pad or chaff wrap must be installed where there is the potential or evidence of chaffing is occuring with the wiring- as long as it doesn't meet the standards for having to be outright replaced.

clamps must be installed every x inches on a wiring harness

Aircraft are required to go thru certain inspections when they reach a certain number of flying hours, calendar days, or whatever.  These intervals are usually set by the manufacturer (atleast for mil. aircraft) and if it's determined that some items wear out sooner, then times can be adjusted downward and require inspection on a shorter interval.  Also, if it's determined that most everytime an aircraft comes in for inspection that a certain wiring harness running near a certain other component has evidence of wear or chaffing, then plans are drawn up, sometimes on a schedule of "if this isn't done by a certain calendar date, then the aircraft is grounded until the inspection, and/or fix is accomplished.

This is usually done because something was discovered during inspections that warrants preventative maintenance or replacement.  Sometimes either the plans for some type of 'add-on' were done up and the engineer drew up the plans and said when you do this modification, that it's ok, to string-tie (like zip tie) this harness along-side of the existing wiring harness instead of running it thru all the clamps (which would require changing out all of the clamps and much much more work.

Maybe a bulletin came out that said "inspect all wirning in the main whell wells for between Fuselage station such and such".  Maybe the inspections 'were' done by the airlines, but it wasn't done up to the standards that the maintenance workers 'should' have followed.  The FAA came along, did a few spot checks at AA and said "OH HELL NO!", this half-ass-do-it-quick-planes-gotta-fly-method, aint going to cut it".  And so they decided to 'Make an example" of AA.

Perhaps the Lead Electrician was told by the suits to do it quick, and right, but make it quick.  So, perhaps they issued a company wide memo to their maintenance people to check the wiring and said "ensure that x,y,and z are
done and them get'em back in the air".  But, maybe to do it correctly, step "w" should have been done and wasn't.

So, I don't know that a false flag is underway as much as I just think the FAA might have seen a pattern of half-assing it, and knowing that traffic and down time for the aircraft isn't going to get any easier with summer coming up, so they  said, "fix now and fix it right".

Having said that, all we need is for something bad to happen to the Pope while he is here and have it be a blonde-haired blue-eyed kid, and we're screwed if we don't stand up and stop martial law from happening.

The March to War: Israel Prepares for War against Lebanon and Syria

The March to War: Israel Prepares for War against Lebanon and Syria

By Mahdi Darius Nazemroaya

Global Research, April 19, 2008

By the start of 2007, reports about major upgrades to the Syrian military, including advances in missile technology, with Iranian help were widespread in Israel. [1] The impression of an imminent war existed across much of the Middle East. Syria, Hezbollah, and Iran were reported in Israel to be preparing for a war to spark in the Levant. [2]

It was also claimed in Israel that Damascus had sent secret messages to Tel Aviv that should Israel continue to reject Syria’s peace overtures, a war would breakout in the Golan Heights and that Syrian reservists were forbidden from leaving Syria because of the possibility of combat. [3]

In June, 2007, an inner circle of the Israeli government that would form a “war cabinet” in a Middle Eastern war scenario was categorically informed that a war with Syria would absolutely involve Iranian military intervention. [4]

It is now 2008 and the spectre of war has remerged in the Middle East. Syrian President Basher Al-Assad revealed that his country is uneasy and prepared for the worst once again. Despite Tehran’s position that the U.S. would not dare launch a war against Iran, the Iranian military is on standby. The Lebanese military and Hezbollah have also been placed on alert.

“While war is not a preferable option, if Israel declares war on Syria and Lebanon or if America declares war on Iran, Syria would be prepared,” the Syrian President told a gathering of Arab intellectuals according to Al-Akhbar, a Lebanese newspaper, on April 16, 2008. [5] “We should analyze the situation from the perspective of American interests, because the last war in Lebanon has shown that at some point Israel wanted to stop the fighting, but was forced by the [Bush Jr. Administration] to pursue it further,” Basher Al-Assad continued. [6] Thus the threat of war lives on in the Middle East in 2008…

“Miscalculations” in the Levant: Setting the Stage for War?

Hereto, Tel Aviv has been deliberately promoting tensions with Syria and Lebanon. In 2007, Major-General Moshe Kaplinsky, the former deputy chief of staff for the Israeli military, stated during a press briefing that war between Syria and Israel was unlikely as an answer to growing rumours of war that started since late-2006 and the commencement of 2007. The Israeli flag officer however did not rule out an eventual Israeli-Syrian conflict. Major-General Kaplinsky along with many other Israeli commanders and officials repeatedly stressed that a “miscalculation on the border” could spark a conflict between Syria and Israel sometime in the future. [7]

Not long after the 2006 Israeli defeat in Lebanon, Tel Aviv started crafting the “justifications” for more wars in its surrounding neighbourhood, the Levant. [8] The Israeli definitions of “miscalculation” have been extremely vague and ominous.

Tel Aviv has been involved in the process of creating a military carte blanche, allowing for “flexibility” in its regional approach towards Lebanon and Syria.

“Miscalculations” in the eyes of Tel Aviv range from the domestic affairs of the Lebanese and the events in the occupied Palestinian Territories to the most audacious and bellicose of definitions, such as the reaction of the Syrians to Israeli hostilities.

The secretive air assault, later revealed by the codename Operation Orchard, made by the 69th Squadron of the Israeli Air Force (IAF) against an unheard of facility in Deir ez-Zoir Governorate of Syria on September 6, 2007 could have become a “miscalculation” on the part of Syria had it responded to Israeli provocations.

The Israeli definition of a “miscalculation” also means any arbitrary fire into Israel.  The Jerusalem Post defined a “miscalculation” that could spark a war with Syria as an incident “along the border, in the form of a terrorist attack that escalates into a larger conflict.” [9] Such an incident could easily be sparked through conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

A false flag operation could also bring such an incident about. On July 18, 2007 there was rocket fire from South Lebanon into Israel by an unknown group, something that could have been used as a pretext for war. In Syria, Lebanon, and the Arab World the incident was believed to be the work of the Israelis and their allies in an effort to justify a future war.

Tel Aviv’s Orwellian talk of Peace

In May, 2008 the head of the Mossad, the intelligence service of Israeli, said that talks of peace with Syria would lead to war. [10] Le Nouvel Observateur reported in July 2007 that the Israeli Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni, ruled out the resumption of peace talks with Syria while stressing that she believed Damascus posed a problem that must be tackled on a regional scale. [11] When asked about the prospects of peace with Syria, Tzipi Livni responded, “Absolutely not. Syria is pursuing the dangerous game it plays in the region [Middle East],” and added that Syria “remains a threat” to Israel. [12] These statements reveal the conduct of Tel Aviv and its hidden agenda. Within the context of a public declaration of peace during the summer of 2007, they also reveal Tel Aviv’s duplicity.

While Tzipi Livni stated that there would be no peace between Israel and Syria, Ehud Olmert stated in a televised interview with the Al-Arabiya News Channel, that he personally wanted peace with Syria. Prime Minister Olmert addressed President Basher Al-Assad, the head of Syria, directly, saying “you know that I am ready for direct talks with you” and added that “I am ready to sit with you and talk about peace, not war.” Several days later, Ehud Olmert also stated in Orwellian fashion that he wanted peace with the Syrians, but that peace did not equate to immediate peace negotiations between Syria and Israel and could mean a continuation of the “status quo.”

Olmert’s statement is doublespeak. Hereto, according to the Israelis, the threat of war exists as a result of the status quo between Syria and Israel. This statement is very important to keep in  mind because it indicates that Israel did not want to return the Golan Heights, but wanted something else from Syria as the condition of peace. This is where Tehran comes into the picture.

Israeli officials were further incriminated by the fact that in 2007 Prime Minister Olmert also said he was not concerned by an imminent war with Syria, but that he was unhappy with the public discussion about peace between Syria and Israel. One should question the logic behind Ehud Olmert’s “irritation” regarding public overtures of peace between Syria and Israel. [13] Realpolitik is definitely being played by Israel in regards to Damascus in a consorted effort to de-link Syria from Iran and its other allies. In this regard, Damascus publicly insisted that there be no secret talks between Syrian and Israeli officials as to the conditions for peace. [14] The rationale for the Syrian insistence on transparency was to deprive Israeli of any means to covertly try to divide Syria from its Middle Eastern allies by generating suspicions of betrayal.

The international press extensively reported Ehud Olmert’s statements in 2007 about wanting peace with the Syrians. Israeli officials also repeatedly claimed that the Syrians were the ones rejecting peace. [15] These claims are made despite the fact that all public records show exactly the opposite. Syria’s leadership have been calling for peace negotiations between Israel and Syria since the premierships of Ehud Barak and Ariel Sharon. Israeli claims of pursing peace for the most part have been part of an international public relations campaign attempting to portray the aggressor as the victim. In the case of Syria peace means that Tel Aviv will not go to war with Damascus if it distances itself from Tehran.

De-linking Syria from Iran: Israel’s Real Condition for Peace with Syria

The return of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, which was was formerly called the “Syrian Heights” in Israel, to Syria was always the recognized condition for establishing Israeli-Syrian peace.

Dr. Alon Liel, a former director-general within the Israeli foreign affairs ministry and a former Israeli ambassador to South Africa, who was heavily involved with previous Israeli negotiations with Syria, has indicated the real issue holding Tel Aviv from accepting peace. Dr. Alon Liel went on record: he confirmed that 85% of negotiations between Syria and Israel were agreed upon by both Damascus and Tel Aviv. [16] The major issues for establishing peace between Damascus and Tel Aviv were all resolved in 2000; water rights for Israel from Syrian territory, guaranteed Israeli access to the Golan Heights upon its return to Syria, and security guarantees between both parties. [17]

Peace, in the sense of an agreement by both sides, however was unachievable in 1993, 1995, 1996, and 2000 due to Tel Aviv’s internal politics. The situation became more so after 2001 with the start of an aggressive U.S. policy in the Middle East. “Israel isn’t going to hand over [or return] the Golan [Heights] to an ally of Iran,” Alon Liel has insisted as being the problem in regards to peace between both sides. [18]

Tel Aviv has imposed broader demands on Syria as the price of peace. It is in the strategic interests of the U.S. and Israel to isolate Iran, even at the cost of peace with Syria. [19] In this regard, Syrian internal affairs and foreign relations are decisive factors for Israel in regards to negotiations.

Syria and Iran are part of a strategic alliance in the Middle East resisting the interests of America, Britain, Israel, France, and Germany. Other Middle Eastern players resisting the same foreign interests are additionally allied or associated with Syria and Iran within one tangible bloc, the Resistance Bloc. [20] It is in this context that one understands Israel is no pursuing peace with Syria, but is threatening the Syrians with war if they do not abandon Iran and their allies.

On the eve of major Israeli exercises in which Israel and Syria fought a fictitious war, the Israeli Deputy Prime Minister, Haim Ramon, stated on a radio interview that Syrian anxiety had no basis and that Israel was pursing peace with Damascus, but added “unfortunately Syria is stuck deep in the evil axis of connections with [Hezbollah].” [21] If this is not indicative enough, Haim Ramon also concluded that Damascus has made a strategic choice to preserve its alliance with Iran rather than “pursue peace,” which to Tel Aviv would mean a termination of Syrian-Iranian ties. Furthermore, on March 23, 2003 Shimon Peres stated that “peace talks with Syria cannot begin while it keeps supplying Lebanon with weapons.” [22] This was a reference to the important role of Damascus as a middle man between Tehran and the Levant.

Neutralizing Syria: Prerequisite for Neutralizing Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran

Damascus is pivotal to the framework of resistance in the Middle East against Israeli, Anglo-American, and Franco-German interests. Syria acts as a bridge between Iran and Iraq at one end of the Middle East and the Levant on the other. Lebanon, the Palestinian Territories, Iraq, and Iran are all tied together through Syria. [23]

In this regard, Damascus serves as the central link that holds together the forces resisting a new regional order in the Middle East, also known as the “Project for the New Middle East.”

What the Israelis have been trying to do, in coordination with the U.S., Britain, France, and Germany is to remove Syria from these alliances and thus splinter or break the link between Iran and the Levant. The main goal is to pressure Syria into making a peaceful political surrender (just as Libya did to Britain and the U.S. in 2003), and to distance itself from Iran and the Arab resistance within Palestine and Lebanon to Israel.

Shlomo Ben-Ami, a former Israeli foreign minister, hinted in October 2007 that if Syria would not dissociate itself peacefully from Iran, a military solution was inevitable: “Driving a wedge between Syria and Iran, drying up [Hezbollah] by cutting its lines of arms supply, allowing the vital task of stabilizing Lebanon to succeed [meaning empowering client forces in Beirut], and forestalling what now looks as a most realistic scenario of a triple front war of Israel against Syria, Hamas and [Hezbollah] are the strategic fruits concomitant to a Syrian-Israeli peace.” [24]

Removing Syria from the “Resistance Bloc” is a prerequisite for Israel, America, and their partners for tackling Iran. With Syria removed from Iran’s influence, the entire Levant could be controlled and the resistance in the Palestinian Territories and Lebanon under such players as Hamas and Hezbollah could be significantly weakened. Under such a framework, the Levant could be integrated into the economic order of the so-called “Western Powers” under the Washington Consensus and within the Mediterranean Union: this is where Israeli, Anglo-American, and France-German Middle East interests merge.

In 2006, the ultimate objective of the Israeli attack on Lebanon was to remove Syria from its alliance with Iran and insert Damascus within the orbit of a new regional order. With this understanding in mind, the 2006 Israeli attacks on Lebanon were revealed to have been planned to also target Syria.[25]

War however became a far costlier option for America, Britain, Israel, and their partners and that is why political channels were pursued with Damascus after the 2006 defeat of Tel Aviv in Lebanon.  Haaretz released a revealing report in August, 2007 about the true nature of the diplomatic mission of Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, to Damascus. The intentions of her visit to Damascus were stated to help establish peace between Syria and Israel and better ties with America, but the conditions were not fully disclosed.

Syria was being courted to abandon Iran, just as Italy was courted to abandon Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire by London and Paris before the First World War: “The chairman of the [U.S.] House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Tom Lantos, who accompanied Pelosi, said Assad should be given a final opportunity to disengage from the ‘axis of evil.’ According to Lantos, in a few years, Sunni Muslims and not Iran under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be in control in the region, and it is to the advantage of Damascus to know which side to be on.” [26]

For Tel Aviv and its partners, if the goal of removing Damascus from its alliance with Tehran can not be achieved through diplomatic dialogue, economics, threats, or pressure then the original course of action, warfare, within a major three-front confrontation is the other alternative against Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian Territories. These hostilities would also be linked to confrontation with the Iranians and could result in an broader conflict in the Middle East and Central Asia. Ehud Olmert declared “I believe that we can expect a calm summer, a calm autumn and a calm winter [which runs from November, 2007 to March, 2008],” when tensions were rising between Syria and Israel in 2007. [27] It is worth noting that tensions began to rise again in the Levant after Olmert’s timeframe of calm.

The threats of war in 2007 were partly scare tactics to pressure Syria into yielding and conceding to the geo-strategic interests of America, Britain, Israel, France, and Germany. [28] Up to now, all efforts to remove the Syrians from their alliances have failed.

Clearly, Israel has been preparing for war on a broader regional level. Simultaneously, Tel Aviv has been preparing to shift blame for any possible outbreak of a regional war on the Syrians, the Lebanese, the Palestinians, even the Russians, and foremost on the Iranians.

Operation Orchard: Fabricating a Syria-Iran-North Korea Nuclear Axis

On September 6, 2007 Israeli warplanes violated Syrian airspace and mysteriously attacked an unheard of facility. The Syrian military reported that Israeli aircraft illegally entered Syrian airspace from over the Mediterranean Sea and headed towards northeastern Syria. “Air defense units confronted [the Israeli warplanes] and forced them to leave [Syria] after they drooped [sic; dropped] some ammunition in deserted areas without causing any human or material damage,” the Syrian military initially claimed. [29] The Syrians immediately also stated that Israel was trying to create pretexts for another war in the Middle East. [30] The U.S. government also entered the commotion by claiming that the White House was aware of the operation and the Pentagon had assisted the Israelis. The White House also claimed that the Israelis had destroyed a facility that was linked to a clandestine nuclear program in Syria. Damascus also maintained that the attacks and the claims about a secretive nuclear program were preludes to U.S. involvement in an Israeli war against Syria. [31]

In this context, Syria restrained itself, fearing that Tel Aviv wanted to entice Damascus into a war. Professor Eyal Zisser, the director of the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, noted “Any misunderstanding could lead to conflagration. However, the Syrian announcement was surprising in its moderation.” [32] The operation was also reported as being a possible test-run for an Israeli attack on Iran. The U.S. and Israel also asserted that the Russian-made air defence systems in Syria did not function. [33] The attacks could have also been a form of pressure to force the Syrians to go to the Annapolis Conference to detect if a war was intended against their country.

The attack was described as an Israeli success by the Bush Jr. Administration and the mainstream media. A propaganda campaign was launched: Through media disinformation and political statements, efforts were placed on establishing the threat of a “Syria-Iran-North Korea nuclear proliferation axis.” [34]

The alleged nuclear facility was a Syrian project aided by North Korea and Iran according to the U.S. and Israeli governments. Trying to pin Syria for having weapons of mass destruction (WMD) programs is not a fresh approach. In fact just barely a month after the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq the U.S. and Britain actively started trying to portray Syria in an Iraq-like manner claiming that Damascus also had hidden weapons of mass destruction (WMD) stockpiles.

In early-April, 2008 it became clear that Israel and the U.S. had been planning on releasing details about Operation Orchard and the alleged nuclear facility attacked by Israel in Syria to further demonize Damascus and to further construct a weapons of mass destruction (WMD) link between Syria, North Korea, and Iran. [35] The Jerusalem Post subsequently reported on April 14, 2008 that Israeli experts suggested that the full disclosure about an Israeli attack in 2007 in the U.S. Congress could even “embarrass” the Syrians to the point of militarily responding against Israel. [36]

The Assassination of Imad Mughniyeh in Damascus: Antecedent to War?

On February 12, 2008 Imad Fayez Mughniyeh, a top Hezbollah security official, was assassinated in Damascus by means of a remote detonated car bomb. The intelligence services of America, Israel, Britain, France, Germany, Jordon, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia were all suspected of some form of involvement. According to The Daily Star, an English-language newspaper based in Lebanon, Saudi Arabia had helped Israel in assassinating Imad Mughniyeh and a Saudi military attaché was arrested in Damascus due to links to a Syrian collaborator in the assassination. [37]

More than a month following the Mughniyeh assassination, U.S. Vice-President Cheney made a regional tour of the Middle East. “We must not, and will not, ignore the darkening shadows of the situations in Gaza, in Lebanon, in Syria and in Iran and the forces there that are working to derail the hopes of the world,” Vice-President Cheney vowed dramatically in a insinuation that conflict was brewing and the U.S. was prepared to aid Israel. [38]

It did not take long for pundits to point toward Mughniyeh’s murder as being used in a ploy to launch war in the Middle East. Israel’s intelligence and information apparatus started exerting themselves in a misinformation campaign to create doubts about the murder of Imad Mughniyeh. Tel Aviv’s aims were to shift the blame on the Syrians in a psychological operation (PSYOP) intended to inseminate doubts and mistrust between Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran, in order to strain their alliance and weaken the Resistance Bloc.

According to Israel’s Channel 10, sometime after the assassination of Mughniyeh, Tel Aviv sent Hezbollah a letter through a third party, threatening another disproportionate war against Lebanon. Tel Aviv also wasted no time in threatening Syria if Hezbollah launched retaliatory attacks on Israel. [39] In this context, Reuters also reported that an unnamed senior Israeli official had spelled out conflict with the Syrians as a reprisal for hostile Lebanese and Palestinian actions against Israel. [40] The root of these so-called hostile actions by Lebanese and Palestinian groups are of retaliatory nature to hostile actions initiated by Tel Aviv. In many cases, these attacks against Israel are invited by Tel Aviv as a means to create the justifications of postponing peace, annexing territory, and launching war.

In mid-April, 2008, Israeli jets and helicopters created insecurity among residents of Haifa when they scrambled across Israel to intercept an unidentified light plane entering Israeli airspace. [41] Tel Aviv’s security and military forces have been on high alert since the Mughniyeh Assassination. [42] On March 18, 2008 an Israeli warship was also dispatched into Lebanese waters, where it was intercepted by an Italian warship, in a move that many in Lebanon saw as a taunt by Israel.

Israel has advertised very publicly that it expects retaliation from Hezbollah. [43] This “retaliation” could also give Israel an excuse for launching another war. The Israeli government also used the opportunity to raise domestic tensions amongst its own citizens. Israeli officials also warned about possible attacks from across the Lebanese border by Iranian-manufactured “explosive-packed drones” or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) sent by Hezbollah. [44]

Creating Pretexts for War in Lebanon

Israel has overtly claimed, as part of a concerted public relations campaign, that Hezbollah increased the range of its rocket arsenal. [45] The public advertisement of the increase in the rocket range of Hezbollah by Tel Aviv stands outside the standardized protocol of Israeli officials who consistently work domestically to keep public confidence in the strength of the Israeli military and security apparatus. Although there was a genuine probability of truth to the Israeli statements, the main objective behind their very publicly advertised declarations were to further build excuses for further Israeli aggression, such as pre-emptive strikes, in Lebanon or the so-called Israeli “Northern Front” and regionally in the Middle East.

In reality, Hezbollah’s rocket range was probably upgraded or already capable of hitting deep into Israeli territory before Tel Aviv decided to divulge its knowledge. Hezbollah had already threatened to strike Tel Aviv in 2006 if Beirut were to be attacked by Israeli bombs. The timing of the information by Israeli officials about Hezbollah’s rocket range is linked to painting the picture of a growing threat amongst its own citizens and to gain their support for combat.

In the case of Hezbollah, like those of the Palestinian Resistance and Syria, the increased range of their projectiles have been attentively linked to Iran, itself the ultimate target. Starting in March, 2008 the mainstream media in Israel and worldwide reported that the Israeli government had warned that most of Israel, up to the city of Dimona in the Negev Desert, was within the striking range of Hezbollah from Lebanon. Haaretz correspondents in addition reported that “Hamas militants who recently returned to the Gaza Strip after training in Iran [held] a detailed plan for upgrading the capabilities of the rockets being developed in the [Gaza] Strip, according to senior Palestinian Authority sources.” [46] As a note, the Palestinian Authority sources being referred to are the unelected Fatah officials in the West Bank who themselves collaborate with Israel. These types of reports have also helped boost the case for war.

The basis for war against Lebanon is an intricate parcel of a broader conflict in the Middle East, which in turn is itself a component of an even larger conflict in Eurasia. The fact that various Palestinian resistance groups have trained in Lebanon, Syria, and Iran is also being used as a justification for war and as a means to tie all three republics closer together as a single enemy axis by Israel. Aside from those in the Palestinian Territories, in the event of a major war the Palestinian groups based in Lebanon and Syria have made it clear that they will fight alongside the Lebanese and Syrians. Palestinians in Egypt and Jordon have also elucidated towards such a course of action too.

With 2008 efforts to implicate Hezbollah in regards to attacks on American and British troops in Iraq have resurfaced. These reports were originally made by London in an effort to link Hezbollah to the roadside bombs in Basra at the start of the Anglo-American occupation of Iraq, but were dismissed. The main British objective of involving Hezbollah as an enemy in Iraq was the foreknowledge that Lebanon would be attacked by Israel in 2006.

On April 8, 2008 General David H. Petraeus, the commander of Coalition troops in Iraq, accused both Iran and Hezbollah of helping the Iraqi forces that attacked the “Green Zone” in Baghdad. [47] He testified to the U.S. Senate about Hezbollah’s alleged involvement in killing American and Coalition troops: “Together with the Iraqi Security Forces, we have also focused on the Special Groups [meaning those forces fighting against American and Coalition forces]. These elements are funded, trained, armed, and directed by Iran’s Qods [Jerusalem] Force, with help from Lebanese Hezbollah.” [48] The allegations by General Petraeus were part of the conscious effort to justify a greater American role in the next conflict against the Lebanese.

The Mediterranean Front

It is clear to the Pentagon, NATO, and Tel Aviv that the Levant stands to ignite a Mediterranean battle-front in the event of a war against Iran. To this end, the marshaling of a relatively invisible NATO war fleet in the Eastern Mediterranean is rigidly tied to war plans against Tehran. [49] The naval build-ups in the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean have been ongoing since 2001 with the strategic aim of preparing the logisitical framework for war against Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestinian resistance, Syria, and Iran.

Paris and Berlin have intense vested interest in the Anglo-American wars in the Middle East. As has been repeatedly uttered by French, German, and E.U. officials the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East are the “eastern borders of the European Union.” [50] To this end Nicolas Sarkozy’s Mediterranean Union is a declaration of these Franco-German interests that are very much tied to the wars in the Middle East and the establishment of a settlement between the Arabs and Israel in the Levant. [51]

The 2006 Israeli siege against Lebanon, with the active support of American military personnel and planners in Israel, was a phase of this military schedule as well as a dress rehearsal by both sides for a larger Middle Eastern war. Both sides were given the opportunity to re-evaluate their tactics and strategies for such an upcoming war, should it spark. History will see what comes to pass.

You saw what went on when the IDF invaded Lebanon last year, they went running back home like dogs with their tail between their legs.............. the freedom fighter in Lebanon are now better prepared for the coming invasion and this time Lebanon's army will participate in the defence of their land......with Syria in the equation there is no way that the Zionist from the state of Israel will win.

Next time it wont be between the state of Israel, Lebanon and Syria but also with other Arab nations who knows that they could be next........the Zionist using nukes??? I don't think that China or Russia would like that very much because it would be like opening Pandora's Box of goodies.

The US cannot afford to enter a new war because they don't have either the equipment or manpower and if they were to introduce the draft then a real revolution in the US would start. Americans are willing to die for the defence of their country and not for those of others ......... like in the old days.

Texas FLDS Raid A NWO PsyOp?
« Reply #96 on: April 23, 2008, 08:12:52 am »

Raid on Texas Religious Community Part of New World Order Psyops?
April 22, 2008

The recent ‘raid’ on the Yearning For Zion religious community by Texas authorities was anything but an accident that just happened to ‘pop up’ out of nowhere. Likewise, the 24-7 attention paid to it by the mainstream media in the US had nothing to do with concern for the well-being of children, nor was it all the result of a slow news cycle. Rather, like most things taking place these days, it was carefully planned and executed in order to achieve maximum psychological effect on the collective American psyche. Astute Americans recognizing that there is a definite, quantifiable and qualifiable agenda at work today in corralling them (as well as their political and financial resources) by interested parties will easily see the hand of powerful forces at work here. The reasons for doing so by these forces are simple to see as well–to convey to would-be enemies of totalitarianism the subtle yet powerful message that ‘resistance is futile’ and if ‘Big Brutha wantsa getcha’ he will, and can do so with the speed and destructive power of a bolt of lightening.

The news coverage of the raid–almost in every single instance–did not hesitate in noting the many similarities between it and what took place over a decade ago in Waco, Texas when militarized federal law enforcement assets assaulted the Branch Davidian compound resulting in almost 100 men, women and children being gassed and burned to death. Besides the fact both events took place in Texas, they also involved separatist-minded religious communities living apart from a ‘corrupt’ world they saw as threatening to their way of life. Both groups were apocalyptic in their theology, pointing to the decline in public morals, the loss of constitutional freedoms and the heavy hand of God that they anticipated coming down soon upon mankind in a big way. In both cases, allegations of child molestation (as well as other out-of-the-mainstream ideas concerning marital relations) were concocted or blown out of proportion and itemized as THE defining characteristics of both groups as if nothing else took place in their communities. And, last but not least, this recent raid took place almost immediately prior to April 19th.

For those who have misplaced the significance of this date, it is one forever associated with clashes between anti-government radicals and the ‘rule of law’. Although hardly mentioned in this context, it is the day American militiamen clashed with British troops at Lexington and Concord, sparking the ‘shot heard ’round the world’ and the American Revolution. Over 200 years later, it was the date federal officials assaulted the Weaver family at Ruby Ridge Idaho, resulting in 14-year old Sammy Weaver being shot in the back and his mother Vicki having her head blown off by an FBI sniper. A few years later, the aforementioned Waco massacre took place, a mere pre-cursor to the same ‘shock and awe’ meted out against Israel’s greatest-perceived enemy in the Middle East, Iraq, and televised before the entire world. A few years later it was the day the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was blown to bits by one Timothy McVeigh, said to be working with ‘anti-government’ citizen paramilitary groups in the US.

Besides these striking similarities, there is something as well connecting all of these events with the recent raid in Texas, and–surprise, surprise–it just so happens to deal with powerful Zionist groups working for Israel’s interests in the United States.

In the case involving the ‘Yearning For Zion’ group in Texas (an offshoot of the large and very powerful Mormon church) Morris ‘Dees’ Seligman and his Southern Poverty Law Center recently named both the church and the church’s former leader Warren Jeffs to the SPLC’s list of ‘extremist’ elements operating in the US. The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith (whose activities include spying on Americans and working closely with law enforcement agencies at the federal, state and local levels in ‘advising’ them on who to target in the US) has publicly denounced the Mormon Church in recent years for its practice of ‘spiritually’ baptizing Jews into the church after their deaths. As an interesting side note, the now-infamous 2006 arsons of 9 Baptist churches in Alabama were preceded by the ADL’s public excoriation of the Southern Baptist Convention for its decision to specifically target Jews for proselytizing and conversion to Christianity.

It should be remembered as well that both of these groups–SPLC and the ADL–were deeply involved with ‘investigating’ the aforementioned groups and individuals prior to the events culminating on April 19th of their respective years. Randy Weaver was being ‘watched’ by SPLC for his involvement with the Aryan Nations. Dittoes with the ADL and the Branch Davidians, a fact mentioned in passing by a high-ranking ADL operative a mere few days before the assault began. (In yet another interesting side note, during the run-up to the Waco slaughter various Jewish outlets worldwide made clear their collective outrage over the fact that Branch Davidian leader David Koresh called himself the Messiah and dared to fly a flag at the Davidian compound closely resembling the flag of Israel.) A few months prior to the destruction of the Murrah Federal Building, the SPLC issued in typical screeching tones one of its infamous ‘Intelligence Reports’ warning about anti-government militias operating in the US, and, almost as if by magic, the Mossad-connected group led by Morris Dees Seligman had its dire predictions come to fruition with the detonation of a fertilizer bomb in the back of a rented Rider truck.

Although as of this moment the ‘Yearning for Zion’ church has not said anything publicly with regards to Israel and American foreign policy therewith, what makes it a target for the recent heavy-handed action is that it’s not considered ‘mainstream,’ meaning it marches to the beat of different drum. Like a growing number of Christian communities these days, the YFZ church recognizes (and operates under the conclusion) that the ruling elite are the enemy. Rather than putting their children in public schools where they are robbed of their ability to think critically and where they are taught to base their moral judgments on what the system tells them, the parents of the YFZ church homeschool their children where their minds and consciences are kept safe from the debilitating intellectual narcotic dispensed in America’s public schools.

Other events indicate the timing of this event was carefully planned for maximum effect as well. All the talk of pedophilia and dirty old men in the minute-by-minute news reports just so happened to precede the arrival of Pope Benedict XVI to America. With all the trouble the Catholic church has dealt with recently regarding priest sex abuse scandals, the pope (who, based upon his opposition to George Bush’s war-mongering in the Middle East) could have been expected to give critical words to the US President was cut off at the knees before he even arrived. As a result, George Bush was spared an embarrassing lecture by a man whose opinion matters to over a billion Catholics worldwide.

Besides any embarrassing comments from the Pope being kept out of the mainstream, the saturated coverage the Texas raid received resulted in other news being kept off the front pages as well, and once again, it deals with Israel and powerful Jewish interests. In the weeks running up to the raid, a spate of shocking news stories appeared in Israel and elsewhere dealing with the same topics of pedophilia and dirty old men, the only difference being that in this case it was not Catholic priests or Mormon preachers involved but rather rabbis teaching in Yeshivas.

A few weeks before the Texas raid, a story appearing in The Age (one of Australia’s biggest newspapers) detailed a huge scandal that erupted at the Adass Israel Girls’ School involving one Malka Leifer, wife of an orthodox rabbi and a teacher at that school who fled to Israel with the school’s assistance after allegations of sexual abuse were raised. Parents of girls ranging in age from 15 and 16 reported their daughters being molested by the said female teacher. In one case one of the molested girls was so depressed she attempted suicide while another suffered from eating disorders and anxiety attacks. Interestingly, the girls at this school (as with the girls at the Texas church) have their marriages arranged by their religious leaders while they are very young and usually to much older men. Before fleeing, the fugitive teacher stole $20,000, money earned from part-time jobs done by the students and kept in a kitty. The school so far is not talking to anyone, including to the parents of the abused girls and has instructed the members of its community not to talk about the issue at all, citing the religious principle of lashon hara or malicious gossip.

Another story breaking a few weeks before the Texas raid and kept out of sight and thus out of mind involved a Brooklyn yeshiva (orthodox religious school) and its head administrator being sued for $10 million over allegations of sexual abuse by a rabbi who taught there for several decades. This present lawsuit is not the first, but rather the fifth to be filed against Yeshiva Torah Temimah and its administrator Lipa Margulies alleging sexual abuse by Rabbi Yudi Kolko. The molestations are said to date as far back the 1980s and were covered up by the school’s administrator who threatened victims into silence with clear and not-so-clear threats of retaliation.

Another story appearing in Haaretz, one of the biggest news outlets in the Jewish state details the frightening tale of Rabbi Elior Chen and his flight to Canada when it was learned he and his sect were being investigated for child abuse. Chen is said to have ordered his followers to discipline their children by beating, burning, breaking their bones with hammers, scalding them with boiling water and forcing them to eat feces. An investigation was opened when one of the children in his ‘community’ was beaten so badly he went into a coma. The paper claims Rabbi Chen chose Canada as a refuge because “Only in very exceptional cases does Canada extradite.” A short time later, another story here in the US revealed Rabbi Edward Schlaeger of Bridgeport, Ct was convicted of possessing child pornography but had his five-year prison sentence suspended, yet another embarrassing scandal for Jewish issues kept out of the mainstream as a result of the blinding, deafening news coverage concerning the events in Texas.

It is also worth mentioning that a search of the SPLC and ADL websites regarding the aforementioned cases involving Jewish sexual abuse of minors and cult-like behavior of certain Jewish religious communities turned up nothing, compared with page after page after page of detailed information concerning Christian and Muslim groups.

In sum, what all of this seems to indicate is that when it comes to Christian groups in America, subversive organizations such as the ADL and SPLC are always there, watching, listening, and slithering about as silently as the serpent in the Garden of Eden. Their motto can be summed up simply as this–We’re making a list, checking it twice, gonna find out who’s naughty or nice’ with regards to what is considered ‘acceptable’ dogma in Christian churches operating in America and more importantly, the ‘proper’ view of Israel. Therefore, if someone comes along with any kind of novel ideas that may in the near or not-so-near future threaten to undermine the backwards, demonic tenets of Christian Zionism, they must be crushed and made examples of lest someone else get any funny ideas.

The reason for spying on Christian groups in the US by groups such as SPLC and ADL needs no real elaboration. Christian supporters of Israel and her murderous policies in the Middle East number in the tens of millions, along with a good portion of what’s found in their wallets. Led by false prophets and Judas goats such as John Hagee, Pat Robertson, Tim LaHaye and the late (and not-so-great) Jerry Falwell, the financial and political umbilical cord from America to Israel providing the lifeblood needed for the great experiment in Jewish self rule would wither on the vine if Christian support began to wane or disappear. Therefore, Christianity in America, in order to be considered ‘acceptable’ by Israel and her unregistered foreign agents must conform to certain dogmatic positions, a few of them being

(a) the Jews are God’s chosen people

(b) that the land of Palestine was given to them by divine mandate

(c) that the Arabs in the region resisting Israel’s murderous activities are thwarting the will of God, and

(d) that is it the duty of Christians in America to support Israel.

Any fringe groups therefore veering off the paved highway leading to Armageddon, groups that read their bibles instead of having them read to them by the likes of Hagee & Co are considered a treat to maintaining the great Zionist delusion that has rendered so many in America today blind and mad.

The message conveyed in this recent event in Texas was clear–religious groups seeking to divorce themselves from the system will have hell to pay for doing so. As the Book of the Apocalypse predicted, ‘He forced all, both free and slave, rich and poor to receive a mark on the right hand or forehead’ and without which persons or entities could not function.

Can there be little doubt then that this recent event, as well as those sure to happen in the future are but manifestations of this same system?

Mukasey goes after his competetors in organized crime

Attorney General targeting international organized crime
Michael B. Mukasey renews the war on what he calls a growing threat that touches 'all sectors of our economy.'
By Richard B. Schmitt, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
April 24, 2008

WASHINGTON -- Atty. Gen. Michael B. Mukasey offered a stark assessment Wednesday of a rising threat from international organized crime, saying that a new breed of mobsters around the world was infiltrating strategic industries, providing logistical support to terrorists and becoming capable of "creating havoc in our economic infrastructure."

Launching one of his first new law enforcement initiatives since becoming attorney general last fall, Mukasey said he recently revived a multiagency group first established in the Johnson administration with the goal of identifying the most urgent organized crime threats around the world and developing strategies to combat them.

The Organized Crime Council, composed of senior officials from nine federal law enforcement agencies, had not met since the early 1990s, when it went dormant after a series of high-profile victories in the U.S.

"The challenge we face with the new breed of organized criminals is quite different from the one we faced a generation or two ago," Mukasey said, addressing the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank in Washington. "They are more sophisticated, they are richer, they have greater influence over government and political institutions worldwide, and they are savvier about using the latest technology, first to perpetrate and then cover up their crimes.

"This new group of organized criminals are far more involved in our everyday lives than many people appreciate," he said. "They touch all sectors of our economy, dealing in everything from cigarettes to oil; clothing to pharmaceuticals."

Mukasey said international organized crime groups controlled "significant positions" in global energy and strategic materials and were expanding holdings in the U.S. materials sector.

A strategic plan on fighting organized crime released by the department also said such groups manipulated securities exchanges and laundered billions of dollars through legitimate financial institutions. "They are expanding their holdings in these sectors, which corrupts the normal functioning of markets and may have a destabilizing effect on U.S. geopolitical interests," Mukasey said.

Prosecutors' attention to organized crime has been diverted since the Sept. 11 attacks, as the department has shifted money and people to thwarting terrorists.

Although many experts think the opportunities for corruption are so vast that the problem will never be solved, the speech appeared to be an effort by Mukasey to send a signal about U.S. determination.

"Investigators and lawyers and the folks engaged in organized crime are perfectly aware that this [post-9/11] shift in priorities means criminals are less likely to get caught," said Robert Luskin, a Washington lawyer who works to eradicate organized crime's influence in the Laborers' Union in New York.

"It takes concentrated specialized talent, not unlike our anti-terrorist effort," said John M. Dowd, a Washington lawyer and former organized crime chief in the Justice Department. "I am delighted to see Michael Mukasey revive it. I don't know why it ebbs and flows. To me, it always has to be a priority."

Organized crime has a rich and colorful history at the Justice Department, going back to its battles with gangsters in the Prohibition and Depression eras.

As attorney general in the 1960s, Robert F. Kennedy renewed the nation's attention on the broad threat posed by mobsters. "Strike force" teams helped bring down Mafia bosses and fight organized crime's influence on the Teamsters union.

That battle continues: In February, U.S. authorities indicted 60 people in federal court in Brooklyn, including top leaders of the notorious Gambino family. The prosecution alleged a web of crimes including murders and extortion schemes with links to the construction industry.

Mukasey cited a number of recent arrests showing how the terrain had changed, including the arrest last month of reputed arms trafficker Victor Bout on suspicion of conspiring to sell weapons to terrorists in Colombia; and the case of reputed Russian organized crime kingpin Semyon Mogilevich, known as "the Brainy Don," suspected of corrupting the natural gas industry in the former Soviet Union. Mogilevich was arrested in January in Moscow on tax charges. The U.S. indicted him on racketeering charges in 2003, but Russian authorities have refused to extradite him.

Mukasey said organized crime had also become a major engine behind international smuggling and human trafficking. An FBI-led investigation into smuggling operations in Southern California, known as Operation Smoking Dragon, uncovered extensive Asian involvement in sneaking illicit goods into the U.S. in shipping containers labeled as toys and furniture from China, the attorney general said.

When does he go after the gangsters who did 9/11?

We Are Change Set Ups!

Well folks it is CLEAR that EVERY event in which ANY group is going to go out and cover, crash etc, you MUST have MANY cameras on ALL of those going out, you cannot just have them in plain sight but also out of sight as well.  Even the camera people need to be covered because as we know from past experiences, they go after the camera people in view to help ensure their CORRUPTION is not caught on tape.

SPY type cameras are needed which can be hidden on unsuspecting people so that EVERTHING can be recorded.

I just also want to pass this on to everyone as and FYI.  Many of these people who are helping and or directly involved in the SET UPS of these INNOCENT people who also claim to be christians need to check themselves VERY quickly because this is bearing FALSE WITNESS and is a BIG TIME CRIME in GODS eye.  This is what they did to Jesus as well.

I am saying this because I want people to THINK about what they are willing to do for a paycheck or just because they believe in someone.  They also need to ask themselves WHY they need to LIE/FRAME  anyone if who they are doing it for is "HONEST".  The fact they they have to LIE should set off a red flag in their brainless heads.

However, they WILL be held accountable for it on judgment day and NO EXCUSE will work.

U.S. news media's latest disgrace

30/04/2008 09:02:00 AM GMT

Though there are still good journalists, the central reality is that corporate journalism is rotten at the core.

By Robert Parry

After prying loose 8,000 pages of Pentagon documents, the New York Times has proven what should have been obvious years ago: the Bush administration manipulated public opinion on the Iraq War, in part, by funneling propaganda through former senior military officers who served as expert analysts on TV news shows.

In 2002-03, these military analysts were ubiquitous on TV justifying the Iraq invasion, and most have remained supportive of the war in the five years since. The Times investigation showed that the analysts were being briefed by the Pentagon on what to say and had undisclosed conflicts of interest via military contracts.

Retired Green Beret Robert S. Bevelacqua, a former Fox News analyst, said the Pentagon treated the retired military officers as puppets: “It was them saying, ‘we need to stick our hands up your back and move your mouth for you.’” [NYT, April 20, 2008]

None of that, of course, should come as any surprise. Where do people think generals and admirals go to work after they retire from the government?

If they play ball with the Pentagon, they get fat salaries serving on corporate boards of military contractors, or they get rich running consultancies that trade on quick access to high-ranking administration officials. If they’re not team players, they’re shut out.

Yet, what may be more troubling, although perhaps no more surprising, is how willingly the U.S. news media let itself be used as a propaganda conduit for the Bush administration regarding the ill-advised invasion of Iraq.

Fox News may have been the prototype of the flag-waving “news” outlet that fawned over pro-war retired military officers and mocked anti-war citizens.

But the same imbalance could be found at the major networks, like NBC where then-anchor Tom Brokaw spoke in the first person plural as he sat among a panel of retired brass on the night of the Iraq invasion – March 19, 2003 – and said: "In a few days, we're going to own that country."

The blame also goes far beyond the TV networks, to the most prestigious print publications. The New York Times famously promoted fictional stories about Iraqi aluminum tubes for building nuclear weapons, and the Washington Post editorial page remains to this day an ardent cheerleader for the war.

So, the real question is not how widespread the ethical lapses of the U.S. news media were – both in palming off self-interested ex-generals as objective observers and for failing to demonstrate even a modicum of skepticism in publishing false articles that paved the way to war.

Rather, the urgent question is what must be done if the United States is to reclaim its status as a functioning constitutional Republic in which a reasonably honest news media keeps the public adequately informed.

Having spent most of my career on the inside at places such as the Associated Press and Newsweek, it’s been my view for many years that the mainstream U.S. news media can’t be reformed, that it is beyond hope.

Though there are still good journalists working at major news companies – and the better news outlets do produce some useful information, like Sunday’s story in the Times – the central reality is that corporate journalism is rotten at the core and won't stop spreading the rot throughout the U.S. political process.

That’s why for the past dozen-plus years at, we have called for a major public investment in honest journalism, so information can be produced that it is both professional and independent of the kinds of external pressures that have deformed today’s mainstream press.

We must find new ways to tell the news.

The Reagan era
The scope of the problem dawned on me in the late 1980s, as I watched the widespread criminality of the Iran-Contra and related scandals – ranging from money-laundering, gun-smuggling, drug-trafficking and acts of terrorism – get swept under the rug because they implicated senior U.S. officials.

During those years, I witnessed the Washington press corps – which still basked in the glory of Watergate and the Pentagon Papers – rushing headlong toward becoming little more than a propaganda funnel for the powers-that-be.

Indeed, in 1992, my first book, Fooling America, argued that the Watergate-Vietnam-era press corps was undergoing a historic transformation into a snarky conveyor of ill-considered conventional wisdom.

The book also made the case that this transformation was not accidental, nor was it driven just by corporate greed and journalistic careerism (though there was plenty of both). There also was a powerful ideological component.

Behind the scenes, the Reagan administration had constructed a domestic framework modeled after CIA psychological warfare programs abroad. The main difference this time was that the psy-op took aim at the American people with the goal of managing how they perceived events, what insiders called “perception management.”

From documents that I uncovered during the Iran-Contra scandal, it was clear that the motive behind this extraordinary operation was the bitterness that conservatives felt toward the mass protests against the Vietnam War and toward American journalists whose reporting supposedly had undermined the war effort.

So, Ronald Reagan’s team made it a high priority to rein in troublesome journalists and to reverse the so-called “Vietnam Syndrome,” the American people’s revulsion over any more foreign military adventures.

The documents revealed that the domestic operation took shape in the early 1980s under the guidance of CIA Director William Casey, who even donated one of the CIA’s top propagandists, Walter Raymond Jr., to manage the program from inside President Reagan’s National Security Council staff.

Other factors fed into the success of this propaganda operation, especially the rise of a bright group of political intellectuals known as the neoconservatives. They proved especially adept at using McCarthyistic tactics to marginalize and silence dissent.

The crowning achievement of this decade-long effort came during the first Persian Gulf War of 1990-91. President George H.W. Bush believed that a successful U.S.-led ground offensive could finish the job of bringing the American people back from their post-Vietnam malaise.

However, after months of devastating aerial bombings, Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev had persuaded Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to withdraw his troops from Kuwait with no more killing, and Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf and other front-line U.S. commanders favored the deal.

But Bush rebuffed the offer, instead ordering the ground attack that slaughtered tens of thousands of fleeing Iraqi troops during a 100-hour campaign.

When the ground war ended, Bush offered an insight into his central motivation. In his first comments about the U.S. victory, he declared: “By God, we’ve kicked the Vietnam Syndrome once and for all.”

Amid the war euphoria, some American journalists who had thought a less violent solution should have been pursued – including conservative columnist Robert Novak – offered cringing self-criticisms about their mistaken doubts.

The only sustained criticism of President Bush on the war came from the neocons, like Charles Krauthammer, who complained that Bush should have let the killing go on, that he stopped the ground war too soon, that he should have conquered Baghdad and occupied Iraq.

In my book, Fooling America, I told the story of this decline and fall of the U.S. news media, from its glory days of Watergate to its groveling days of the early 1990s. But 16 years ago, few people wanted to hear the story – or believe it.

The common view at the time was that the Washington press corps was still the aggressive watchdog of Watergate fame and, if anything, was too “liberal.” Though I had a major publisher in Morrow, the book got little circulation and was trashed by key book reviewers, including one from the Washington Post.

The thought that the heroic Washington press corps was changing into something cowardly and reckless was an idea whose time had not yet come.

Repeating history
In the investigation of how the Pentagon used TV military analysts to sell the Iraq War – thus allowing George W. Bush to “complete the job” left unfinished by his dad – the New York Times also traced the administration’s P.R. theories back to the Vietnam War and to the early days of the Reagan era.

“Many [TV military analysts] also shared with Mr. Bush’s national security team a belief that pessimistic war coverage broke the nation’s will to win in Vietnam, and there was a mutual resolve not to let that happen with this war,” the Times reported in the article by David Barstow.

“This was a major theme, for example, with Paul E. Vallely, a Fox News analyst from 2001 to 2007. A retired Army general who had specialized in psychological warfare, Mr. Vallely co-authored a paper in 1980 that accused American news organizations of failing to defend the nation from ‘enemy’ propaganda during Vietnam.

“‘We lost the war – not because we were outfought, but because we were out Psyoped,’ he wrote. He urged a radically new approach to psychological operations in future wars – taking aim not just at foreign adversaries but at domestic audiences, too.

“He called his approach ‘MindWar’ – using network TV and radio to ‘strengthen our national will to victory.’”

But the danger of “MindWar,” aimed by the U.S. government at the American people, is that it turns inside-out the concept of a democratic Republic in which a well-informed people exercise meaningful control over their government.

Instead, you end up with a duplicitous government using propaganda, fear and intimidation to whip the people into line. Rather than the government being the servant of the people, the people become the servant of the government.

Then, as undemocratic regimes have shown throughout history – with the voice of the people silenced – insiders get a free hand to carry out foolhardy policies and to line the pockets of their friends.

With the U.S. taxpayers now looking at an open-ended Iraq War with the total cost possibly reaching $3 trillion, it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who the “winners” were in this “MindWar.”

Often they were the same TV military analysts and news media pundits who were advocating for the invasion more than five years ago. Almost everyone of them has made out like bandits, many with fat stock portfolios and posh vacation homes, not to mention appreciative CEOs back at corporate central.

The “losers” should be equally apparent. Besides the fleeced American taxpayers, there have been more than 4,000 US soldiers dead, another 30,000 wounded, and hundreds of thousands of dead and maimed Iraqis.

This bloody march of folly began some three decades ago when the U.S. news media began surrendering its responsibility to keep the people informed and instead opted for the easier and more lucrative role of acting as propagandists for the powerful.

The New York Times article is just further proof of that sorry reality.

Marine Corps Marathon is Sunday.  False flag anyone?

Shots fired again at Marine Corps museum
October 29, 2010 - 2:09pm

TRIANGLE, Va. - Shots were fired at the Marine Corps museum in Triangle, Va. -- the fourth time someone has fired at military-related buildings in the last few weeks.

No one has been hurt in the shootings, and the FBI urged the unknown shooter to surrender before someone is hurt.

"We appreciate that he is struggling right now," FBI spokesperson Katherine Schweit said Friday.

"This guy hasn't hurt anybody. We don't think he wants to. We're hoping that he'll turn himself in."

The FBI believes the shooter has a "deep, personal grievance" "surrounding the U.S. Marine Corps," and was "possibly wronged" by that branch of the military, an FBI spokesperson said at a press conference Friday.

John Perren, the acting assistant director for the FBI's Washington field office, said during a press conference that investigators believe the person takes issue with the institution of the Marines, but not those serving in uniform.

Perren said the person has made sure no one has been hurt, and authorities don't believe he wants to harm citizens or Marines.

"We'd like to know what this grievance is and what we can do to try to help solve it," Perren said.

He said the suspect may be dealing with a traumatic event such as loss of a job, financial problems or divorce.

Perren said officials are working under the assumption that the individual was part of the Marine Corps.

The FBI also believes the suspect lives or works in the Northern Virginia area.

Because the shots hit the side of the museum facing Interstate 95, the FBI believes they were fired from a vehicle.

The FBI's evidence team and the Prince William County Police are on the scene investigating.

Police are on their hands and knees searching for evidence on the grounds of the museum. Police also are searching for evidence off northbound I-95.

Prince William County Police Assistant Chief Mike Crosbie says someone fired shots at the museum in Triangle, Va., between 9 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.

The FBI was called to the scene early Friday.

The museum is closed, but 1st Lt. Brian Villard with the Marine Corps base at Quantico tells WTOP they hope to reopen the museum as soon as possible.

"That's our goal, as soon as investigators are through with the scene the museum will reopen," Villard says.

Villard would not comment on any changes to security except to say, "the security of our staff and visitors is our first priority."

A Pentagon spokesman says security has not been changed at the Pentagon. There are no changes to military protocol for the U.S. Army Military District of Washington.

Individual facilities are allowed to ramp up security if they believe it is necessary.

Authorities are operating under the assumption that all four shootings are connected:

    * Oct. 17 - Shots fired at Marine Corps museum
    * Oct. 19 - Shots fired at the Pentagon
    * Late Oct. 25 or early Oct. 26 - Shots fired at Marine Corps recruiting station in Chantilly
    * Oct. 29 - Shots fired at Marine Corps museum

The same gun was used in the first three shootings.

Investigators haven't determined a motive or identified a suspect.

Security for the Marine Corp Marathon on Sunday will be beefed up and the course has changed.

Police presence across the region is expected to be more visible, in light of the recent shootings and huge rallies this weekend in the District.

"We are aware of events that have occurred in the D.C. metropolitan area. We take all threats seriously and we continue to remain vigilant. However, the Metropolitan Police Department will not discuss certain aspects of operational preparedness for security reasons," said Police Chief Cathy Lanier.

While they did not comment directly on Friday's report of shots fired, Rep. Gerry Connolly and his challenger in the 11th Congressional District Keith Fimian both agreed Americans needs to remain vigilant against recurrent attacks on U.S. soil.

"We don't know whether it's a foreign threat or whether it's a domestic threat. It could be a crazed gunman who has decided to target our military," said Rep. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., on The Politics Program with Mark Plotkin on WTOP.

"Many people want to see us done in," said Fimian, who was also on the show. "We have to be ever vigilant."

Those with more information should contact (202) 278-2000 or dial 911.
