Alex Jones said he grilled the doctors directly on this.

The doctors ARE BEING DIRECTED TO SAY. that a 'mystery virus' that is attacking children's pancreas leaving them with type I diabetes is GENETIC.  Alex Jones asked these so called health professionals how can the diabetes be strictly 'genetic' when it's being caused by a virus?  They're answer... "We're being told to tell the public this."

My question...

HOSPITAL SETS PATIENT RECORD AS MYSTERY VIRUS SPREADS
http://patriotrising.com/2014/09/09/hospital-sets-patient-record-mystery-virus-spreads/

Medical officials admitted a record number of children to a local hospital over the weekend because of what they believe to be a rare respiratory virus spreading throughout the country.

Although there’s been no confirmed cases of the enterovirus at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, officials admitted 540 patients Friday, said Dr. Derek Wheeler, associate chief of staff at the hospital.

The previous record was around 515, Wheeler said.

Some reports out of Missouri and Colorado suggest the virus, with symptoms similar to the common cold, brought sicker patients to hospitals, Wheeler said.

“We’re just seeing the (increased) volumes, we haven’t seen (patients) sicker than usual yet,” he said.

Hospitals from other states have placed restrictions on visitations, but Wheeler said there are no plans to do that in Cincinnati.

The virus is similar to what doctors treat during cold and flu season. That means nothing really changes if a child comes down with the rare virus, he said.

“The bottom line is this is a virus you wouldn’t treat with antibiotics, so other than the (high-level of) interest, there’s no reason we would need to know it’s an enterovirus,” Wheeler said.

This particular type of enterovirus — EV-D68 — is uncommon, but not new. It was first identified in the 1960s.

“I suspect that it’s something that hasn’t been around for a while and so there’s a lot of people susceptible to it,” Wheeler said.

The number of patients began to spike around Labor Day, which means the virus should run its course in Greater Cincinnati sometime over the next week, Wheeler said.

Wheeler said parents can prevent their children from getting the virus by making them wash their hands frequently and drink plenty of fluids.

If they do suspect their child contracted the virus, he suggested parents call their pediatrician first because urgent care facilities will be busy.

When I was young I had this notion of becoming a 'doctor'.  With the main idea to help people, NOT as a ticket to a 'country club life style'.

As I began to research the 'history' of the American medical 'system'S' (emphasis on the 'plural') I was surprised to find the rather easy connection between our 'modern' medical system and the eugenics movement of the early twentieth century.

The American medical system had 'evolved' originally as several 'INDEPENDENT' institutions, research apparatuses and each and every 'real' medical professional was able to 'independently' practice the 'science AND art' of 'actually' healing and, NOT just 'treating' people.

The Carnegie and Rockefeller families (absolute fascists) were totally financing the entire eugenics programs.  These families used their wealth to 'buy' politicians and these bought off politicians killed the ONCE truly independent medical system and replaced it with THEIR eugenics model America is still currently stuck with.   This occurred in 1910.

Which vaccines were these sick children given recently?

And when?

Because I highly doubt its just plain enterovirus that's affecting these kids.

Severe respiratory illness striking Denver metro children; more than 900 !!Please report if in your State
September 6th, 2014

DENVER – Hospitals across the Denver metro area are on alert for a mystery respiratory illness that can leave children and teenagers with asthma debilitated.

Doctors told 7NEWS they believe the illness is linked to human enterovirus 68, which is related to rhinovirus, which is a cause of the common cold.

Patients often complain of a rapid onset of cold-like symptoms and then suddenly are unable to breathe.

“My head started hurting and after that my lungs started sort of closing up. It felt different,” said 13-year-old Will Cornejo, of Lone Tree.

“He was in really bad shape. He came really close to death. He was unconscious at our house and white as a ghost with blue lips — he just passed out,” said Will’s mother, Jennifer Cornejo.

We have five kids in the intensive care unit which is a much higher number than we would see at the end of August, early September,” Dr. Raju Meyappan said.

One of those children is 13-year-old Will Cornejo.

Americans fret about mystery virus and illegal kids

Limbaugh: Is illness tied to Obama's release of immigrant children all over U.S.?
Published: 4 days ago

Just weeks after the Obama administration let more than 37,000 illegal-alien children into the U.S. without health screening, more than 1,000 kids across 10 states have been stricken with a respiratory virus – prompting widespread concerns about a major outbreak sweeping across the nation.

On his Monday show, talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh explored the possibility of a link between the flood of illegal aliens and the spread of a severe and rare respiratory virus known as Enterovirus D68, or EV-D68.

“Obama will not tell anybody where all of the children that have crossed the border in the last four months have been relocated to,” Limbaugh said.

“There are a bunch of people who want to know. We had these kids cross the border from El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, wherever they came from in Central America, and they were processed real quickly. They were gotten in, gotten out, and they’ve been distributed all over the country. And Obama won’t tell anybody where he put ‘em. … The regime will not announce where they are.”

Limbaugh asked, “Are the two stories related or are they not? Does this sweeping, mysterious virus that’s multiplying across the Midwest, does it have anything to do with it or not? We don’t know. That’s the answer. We just don’t know. But some people think there may be some kind of a connection.”

Another talk-radio giant, Michael Savage, blasted Obama for releasing the illegal-alien children in all 50 states: “This population in America, which once enjoyed the greatest health on earth, is now being devolved into a second-world nation in terms of health because Obama is so corrupt, was so ignorant, was so evil that he’s taken what was once the greatest nation on earth and devolving us into a second nation status.”

Savage, who earned a doctorate in epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley, declared on his show Monday, “For 20 years, I’ve been trying to warn America about the unscreened immigrants being brought in. Now, of course, it’s coming home to roost and the American people are being lied to by the Centers for Disease Transmission. They used to be the CDC; they’re now the CDT....

Mystery Respiratory Illness Infects 7, Kills 2 in Alabama

A mystery respiratory illness has killed two people and infected five others in Alabama. All of the victims have shown signs of fever, cough and shortness of breath, but the Alabama Department of Public Health hasn't been able to identify the disease.

Officials collected samples from all of the victims and sent them to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, but results aren't available yet. One of the test samples tested positive for H1N1 influenza A, but officials aren't sure if that's what caused the illness.
...

In recent months, a new strain of Coronavirus surfaced in several countries, including France, the UK and Saudi arabia, killing 18 and infecting another 15. And there's been recent evidence that H7N9, a strain of the bird flu has killed 17 and infected 82 in China, might spread person-to-person, though Alabama officials said there was no evidence linking the infections to H7N9.

By JoNel Aleccia, Senior Writer, NBC News

Two people have died and five others have been hospitalized in a mysterious cluster of respiratory illnesses in southeast Alabama, state health officials said.

The victims, all adults, had symptoms including fever, cough and shortness of breath, but the cause of the illnesses is unknown, said Dr. Mary McIntyre, the acting state epidemiologist for the Alabama Department of Public Health. The hospital is using respiratory precautions, which include requiring staff to wear special N95 masks that reduce the chance of infection.

Enterovirus D68: What is the mystery respiratory virus making US children sick?

Hundreds of children are showing symptoms of rare respiratory illness, and the CDC thinks it could be unprecedented outbreak of enterovirus D68

theguardian.com, Wednesday 10 September 2014 13.39 EDT

Hundreds of children are showing symptoms of a rare respiratory illness, hospitals in at least 10 states report, and the CDC is investigating whether the trend could be an unprecedented outbreak of enterovirus D68.

Where is it?

About 475 children have been treated at Missouri’s Children Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, at least 60 of whom are in intensive care, according to a spokesman (CNN). The CDC confirmed at least 19 cases of enterovirus D68 were found at the hospital.

The Children’s Hospital Colorado in Denver told the Denver Post that more than 900 children have been treated for respiratory illnesses in the past three weeks, including 86 admitted to the hospital. At least five children at Rocky Mountain Hospital have been admitted to intensive care, but the CDC has not yet confirmed D68 in Colorado yet.

The CDC also confirmed 11 cases of the virus in Chicago, with patients ranging between 20-months-old to 15, and eight of whom with a history of asthma. The city’s hospitals have treated dozens of children with respiratory symptoms, and a University of Chicago spokesman told a local CBS affiliate that it was “as if winter flu season is starting early”.

No one has died from the outbreak in any state [yet] .

Hundreds of children across US sickened by severe respiratory virus
Suspected virus, enterovirus 68, typically causes illness lasting a week and most children recover with no lasting problems
Associated Press in Chicago
theguardian.com, Monday 8 September 2014 16.24 EDT

Hundreds of children in more than 10 states have been sickened by a severe respiratory illness that public health officials say may be caused by an uncommon virus similar to the germ that causes the common cold.

Nearly 500 children have been treated at one hospital alone – Children’s Mercy in Kansas City, Missouri – and some required intensive care, according to authorities.

The suspected germ, enterovirus 68, is an uncommon strain of a very common family of viruses that typically hit from summertime through autumn.

The virus can cause mild coldlike symptoms but this summer’s cases are unusually severe, said Mark Pallansch, director of the viral diseases division at the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“It’s not highly unusual but we’re trying to understand what happened this year in terms of these noticeable and much larger clusters of severe respiratory disease,” Pallansch said Monday.

Based on testing, EV-D68 was identified in 19 of 22 specimens from Kansas City and in 11 of 14 specimens from Chicago. “Since these initial reports, admissions for severe respiratory illness have continued at both facilities at rates higher than expected for this time of year. Investigations into suspected clusters in other jurisdictions are ongoing,” according to the CDC.

The ages of the patients ranged from about 6 weeks to 16 years, with the median age of about 4 years

The CDC also said it is testing to see whether the virus caused respiratory illnesses reported in children in Alabama, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma and Utah.

interesting and could be.  I would guess it came from some kind of vaccination. Don't rule out that they all have a cold and tptb are trying to spread fear and come up with a" miracle" vaccine.

A rare virus that threatens respiratory systems has sickened hundreds children in Kansas City, Mo., and and Chicago and could be responsible for far more cases in about a dozen states, national health officials said Monday.

The virus, known as Enterovirus D68, is a rare form of the virus normally associated with the common cold, Anne Schuchat, assistant surgeon general and director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said at a news conference at the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
...
EV-D68 was first identified in California in 1962, according to the CDC. Just 79 cases were reported from 2009 to 2013 in the United States.

The full danger from the virus is still being studied, but in general it has been associated with respiratory illness and some neurological conditions including meningitis and encephalitis. In the current situation, the only reported problems have been associated with the lungs, Schuchat said.

The study by Schultz et al. was the first to specifically link increased acetaminophen use to increased autism.[11] This study included a graph similar to Figure 1 temporally relating increased autism incidence in California with increased acetaminophen use in the United States and decreased acetaminophen use with decreased rate of autism in California. In addition, similar increases in the rates of asthma correlated with the usage of acetaminophen were also noted by Becker and Schultz.[14] They noted that the rates of autism incidence and asthma stopped increasing in the months following two attempted extortion events in which acetaminophen was deliberately laced with cyanide.[14] The changes in the incidence of these very different diseases at exactly the time acetaminophen use dropped for a significant period of time is remarkable and may indicate the same factor as causing the two diseases

Non-Polio Enteroviruses

Non-polio enteroviruses are very common and can infect anyone. Most people who get infected with these viruses do not get sick or they only have mild illness, like the common cold. But some people can have serious complications, especially infants and people with weakened immune systems

The Rise of Childhood Type 1 Diabetes in the 20th Century
Edwin A.M. Gale
Abstract

The incidence of childhood type 1 diabetes increased worldwide in the closing decades of the 20th century, but the origins of this increase are poorly documented. A search through the early literature revealed a number of useful but neglected sources, particularly in Scandinavia. While these do not meet the exacting standards of more recent surveys, tentative conclusions can be drawn concerning long-term changes in the demography of the disease.

Childhood type 1 diabetes was rare but well recognized before the introduction of insulin. Low incidence and prevalence rates were recorded in several countries over the period 1920–1950, and one carefully performed study showed no change in childhood incidence over the period 1925–1955. An almost simultaneous upturn was documented in several countries around the mid-century. The overall pattern since then is one of linear increase, with evidence of a plateau in some high-incidence populations and of a catch-up phenomenon in some low-incidence areas. Steep rises in the age-group under 5 years have been recorded recently. The disease process underlying type 1 diabetes has changed over time and continues to evolve. Understanding why and how this produced the pandemic of childhood diabetes would be an important step toward reversing it.

At the start of the 20th century, childhood diabetes was rare and rapidly fatal. By its end, some 3–4 children per 1,000 in Western countries would require insulin treatment by the age of 20 years, and a steady rise in incidence had been reported from many other parts of the world. This increase has been extensively documented over the past two decades, over which time standard means of data collection have been agreed, central registries have been established, and numerous epidemiological studies have been reported (1,2). In contrast, relatively little is known about the frequency of the disease in the early part of the century. It is easy to forget that by 1980 only a handful of studies were available, the “hot spots” in Finland and Sardinia were unrecognized, and no adequate estimates were available for 90% of the world’s population (3).

...

When did the increase begin?

A steep rise in the incidence of childhood diabetes undoubtedly occurred in many populations over the latter part of the century. Backwards extrapolation of these trends often implies a zero incidence earlier in the century, which was clearly not the case. We therefore need to look for an upward inflection. The only previous attempt to track the incidence of type 1 diabetes across a century was made by Krolewski et al. (32), who concluded that a sharp upturn in the incidence of insulin-dependent diabetes had occurred in the U.S. around the mid-century. In Europe, the best evidence once again comes from Norway. The 1925–1954 Oslo survey was later extended to 1964, and an additional 3,368 patients were identified; 97% of the records were traced. After exclusion of nonresidents and patients diagnosed outside the city, this number fell to 2,859; 140 were aged under 20 years at diagnosis, and 90–95% of these were started at once on insulin. The incidence increased from a stable baseline of 4.1 cases/100,000/year to a new level of 8.4/100,000/year over the period 1955–1964 (33). This study was later reviewed by Joner and Søvik (34) in the light of their national survey of incidence from 1973 to 1977, and was considered sufficiently reliable to support their own conclusion that a secular change in incidence had taken place over the intervening period. Sequential studies have shown that the incidence of childhood diabetes in Norway increased until the last decade of the century (34–36), giving an S-shaped incidence curve over the 75 years for which information is available (Fig. 2).

...

Many attempts have been made to explain the rise of childhood type 1 diabetes over the past 30 years. A common starting point has been the assumption that something new has entered the childhood environment, and early nutrition or infection have seemed the most promising areas of enquiry. The leading hypotheses have related to early exposure to cow’s milk (59) or to enterovirus infection (60). Despite a wealth of indirect evidence, we still lack proof that either plays a major role in causation of the disease, and it has been plausibly argued that both exert their influence via modulation of the developing mucosal immune system (59). Breast-feeding patterns do not reflect changes in the incidence of childhood diabetes. Two of three American women breast-fed in 1911–1955, falling to 22% in 1972, and rising back to 60% in the 1980s and 1990s (61). There is little to suggest that this is in any way related to changes in the incidence of childhood diabetes. Equally, hypotheses based around enteroviral infection must take account of the fact that the proportion of women not exposed during pregnancy is increasing, and that infection in early childhood has become less common in the course of the century (62). These considerations do not exclude arguments based on changing antigenicity of feeds or viruses, or timing of exposure to them, but there is at present little evidence that antigens novel to the 20th century could explain the long-term trends described here.

The alternative possibility is that protective factors have been lost from the childhood environment (63). The hygiene hypothesis, initially developed to explain the parallel rise of asthma and allergy, argues that exposure to a range of infective agents in early childhood is necessary for successful maturation of the neonatal immune repertoire. In the absence of such exposure, a robust Th1 repertoire does not develop and potentially harmful Th2 patterns of response will persist in genetically susceptible individuals (64). Although this concept may prove unduly simplistic, lack of early stimulation could give rise to a failure of early immune regulation that might, according to genetic susceptibility, permit patterns of response predisposing to autoimmunity or allergy to develop at opposite ends of the Th1/Th2 spectrum (65). A number of recent reviews have attempted to link the rise of asthma and atopy to that of autoimmune disorders such as type 1 diabetes (65,66), and it is therefore of interest that an exhaustive survey of the early asthma literature also concluded that Scandinavia, Britain, the U.S., and Australasia showed an increase beginning in the early 1950s (67). Epidemiological evidence for the hygiene hypothesis is inconsistent for childhood type 1 diabetes, but it is notorious that the NOD mouse is less likely to develop diabetes in the presence of pinworms and other infections (68). Pinworm infestation was common in the childhood populations of Europe and North America around the mid-century, and this potentially protective exposure has largely been lost since that time (69).

Somehow I feel this whole outbreak came from the vaccines in the first place.

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is one of many non-polio enteroviruses.  Just made that assumption on what this virus is and with the fears being spread thoughout our country, could it be from the polio vaccine? just wondering.

"The partnership has the potential to be a game-changer for polio vaccines," said Professor Mark Kendall, Vaxxas' founder and chief technology officer.

"The Nanopatch, because it's a needle-free approach and because it doesn't need refrigeration and because it's simple to use, has the potential to overcome those needle-based, liquid-based challenges."

Each Nanopatch is about the size of an adult thumbnail. It contains around 20,000 microprotrusions – or microscopic bumps on the surface of the patch - which are coated in the vaccine.

The vaccine is administered to the outer layer of the skin, where most immune cells are found

interesting to look at the past to see how it all started:

"German Measles - there was a Panademic in 1964 ...." Why?  Notice that soon after isolating the virus from US Army recruits - a pandemic soon followed

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubella
...

Rubella was first described in the mid-eighteenth century. Friedrich Hoffmann made the first clinical description of rubella in 1740,[31] which was confirmed by de Bergen in 1752 and Orlow in 1758.[32]

In 1814, George de Maton first suggested that it be considered a disease distinct from both measles and scarlet fever. All these physicians were German, and the disease was known as Rötheln (contemporary German Röteln), hence the common name of "German measles".[33] Henry Veale, an English Royal Artillery surgeon, described an outbreak in India. He coined the name "rubella" (from the Latin word, meaning "little red") in 1866.[31][34][35][36]

It was formally recognised as an individual entity in 1881, at the International Congress of Medicine in London.[37] In 1914, Alfred Fabian Hess theorised that rubella was caused by a virus, based on work with monkeys.[38] In 1938, Hiro and Tosaka confirmed this by passing the disease to children using filtered nasal washings from acute cases.[35]

In 1940, there was a widespread epidemic of rubella in Australia. Subsequently, ophthalmologist Norman McAllister Gregg found 78 cases of congenital cataracts in infants and 68 of them were born to mothers who had caught rubella in early pregnancy.[34][35] Gregg published an account, Congenital Cataract Following German Measles in the Mother, in 1941. He described a variety of problems now known as congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) and noticed that the earlier the mother was infected, the worse the damage was.

The virus was isolated in tissue culture in 1962 by two separate groups led by physicians Parkman and Weller.[34][36]

There was a pandemic of rubella between 1962 and 1965, starting in Europe and spreading to the United States.[36]

In the years 1964–65, the United States had an estimated 12.5 million rubella cases. This led to 11,000 miscarriages or therapeutic abortions and 20,000 cases of congenital rubella syndrome. Of these, 2,100 died as neonates, 12,000 were deaf, 3,580 were blind, and 1,800 were mentally retarded. In New York alone, CRS affected 1% of all births [39][40]

In 1969 a live attenuated virus vaccine was licensed.

[35]

In the early 1970s, a triple vaccine containing attenuated measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) viruses was introduced

Dr. Harry Meyer, 72; co-developed measles vaccine
By  Warren King
Seattle Times staff reporter

As co-developer of the German measles vaccine, Dr. Harry M. Meyer Jr. helped save millions of children from birth defects such as blindness, cerebral palsy, deafness and heart defects.

The achievement was one of the highlights of a career in science and public health that spanned five decades and two continents. It stemmed from both an intense curiosity about the workings of the human body and an ability to get things done.

"One of his capabilities was to immediately focus on a problem, whether it was his personal research, administration or politics," said his friend and longtime colleague, Dr. Bennett Elisberg. "He would focus on an issue almost to the exclusion of everything else, identify the critical elements, then develop a plan of action."

Dr. Meyer, who retired as assistant surgeon general of the United States, died of lymphoma Sunday (Aug. 19) at the Kenmore home of his stepson, Stephen Bernheim. He had lived in Friday Harbor since 1993. He was 72.

German measles, or rubella, became a focus of Dr. Meyer and his co-researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) because it causes birth defects when a pregnant woman is infected with the virus. After a 1964 epidemic of 12.5 million cases left 20,000 children with birth defects, Dr. Meyer and Dr. Paul Parkman worked intensely for five years to produce a vaccine. There has been no major epidemic since the vaccine and a later, more potent version, were developed.

Dr. Meyer also was a key figure in successfully testing the red measles (rubeola) vaccine while at the NIH. Working with French health authorities, he took the vaccine to Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso, in western Africa, where thousands of children were dying of the disease in the early 1960s.

His wife, Barbara, a microbiologist, was then his NIH colleague, and she remembers the years as the most satisfying of their careers. They culminated in the immunization of more than a million children in eight countries.
...
Dr. Meyer continued his work as director of the NIH section responsible for viral-vaccine research and regulation. Those responsibilities shifted to the Food and Drug Administration in 1972, and he implemented important programs there, including the external review by expert advisory panels of manufacturers' claims regarding biological products such as vaccines.

He also consulted with three U.S. presidents regarding public-health matters.

After retiring from government service in 1986, he served as president of the medical-research division of American Cyanamid. He also served on the board of directors of Seattle-based Immunex.

Summary

A virus recognized by its capacity to multiply in grivet monkey kidney cultures and to interfere in such cultures with subsequent multiplication of ECHO-11 virus, was isolated regularly from military recruits with rubella, but rarely from those hospitalized at the same time and place with scarlet fever. The newly recovered virus multiplied consistently in primary and continuous grivet kidney cultures. The virus was filterable, sensitive to heat and organic solvents, and immunologically distinct from a number of other chloroform sensitive agents. Neutralizing antibody often was present in acute phase sera of patients with rubella and regularly increased significantly during convalescence in patients yielding the virus.

1964 - U.S. Rubella Outbreak Infects Millions

A massive rubella outbreak in the United States initially failed to draw serious attention. A Time magazine article encouraged rubella parties, even recommending strategies so that “especially all the little girls get the infection.”

Unfortunately, despite warnings about keeping infected children away from pregnant women, nearly 50,000 women in vulnerable stages of their pregnancies were infected with rubella during the outbreak, leading to thousands of miscarriages and even more children being born with severe damage. At least 8,000 were born deaf, 3,500 deaf and blind; the total number of congenital rubella syndrome cases reached 20,000.
O
ver the course of the outbreak the country tallied approximately 12.5 million cases of rubella and more than 2,000 deaths. Resulting medical costs reached the billions.

A major rubella pandemic that originated in Europe in the early 1960s reached the USA in 1964, causing an estimated 12.5 million cases of the disease. The result of this major outbreak was devastating, with 11,000 miscarriages, stillbirths and terminations, and the birth of 20,000 infants with congenital rubella syndrome (CRS). [ 3]

Due to limited disease surveillance and reporting systems there are insufficient data on rubella in the developing world. Rubella is often not notified as many cases are not seen by a doctor or even recognized by the patient and rubella outbreaks can occur with no clinical recognition. Studies in Central and South America, Africa, India and the Middle and Far East suggest that rubella is widespread and endemic in most developing countries. [3 ] In countries with the highest susceptibility rates (>25%) among women of childbearing age, including Jamaica, Malaysia, Panama, Singapore and Sri Lanka, serological data are consistent with other data showing a high incidence of CRS and/or a high proportion of acquired rubella among pregnant women. [3 ] In other countries with high or moderate susceptibility rates such as Brazil, parts of India, and Nigeria, the absolute risk of CRS is difficult to estimate and there maybe substantial within-country variation. Virus probed in paralysis cases in 9 Colorado kids

By MIKE STOBBE
AP Medical Writer

NEW YORK (AP) -- Health officials are investigating nine cases of muscle weakness or paralysis in Colorado children and whether the culprit might be a virus causing severe respiratory illness across the country.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday sent doctors an alert about the polio-like cases and said the germ - enterovirus 68 - was detected in four out of eight of the sick children who had a certain medical test. The status of the ninth case is unclear.

The virus can cause paralysis but other germs can, too. Health officials don't know whether the virus caused any of the children's arm and leg weaknesses or whether it's just a germ they coincidentally picked up

Rhode Island Child Dies From Enterovirus That Has Been Affecting Kids Nationwide
October 1, 2014 11:06 AM

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (CBS Connecticut/AP) — The Rhode Island health department says a child has died from complications of an unusual respiratory virus that has been affecting children across the U.S.

Health officials said Wednesday that the child died last week of a staph infection associated with the enterovirus 68 infection.

Department spokeswoman Christina Batastini said there have been no deaths in Rhode Island directly attributed to the enterovirus 68 infection. Batastini said she could not say where the child lived or was treated

So a mystery EV-68 causes polio like disease - Is it possible it comes from a nasal delivered vaccine?

5 California Children Infected by Polio-Like Illness

Over a one-year period, five children in California developed a polio-like illness that caused severe weakness or paralysis in their arms and legs, a new case study reports.

In two of the children, their symptoms have now been linked with an extremely rare virus called enterovirus-68.

Like the poliovirus, which has been eradicated in the U.S. since 1979 thanks to the polio vaccine, strains of enterovirus in rare cases can invade and injure the spine.

These are the first reported cases of polio-like symptoms being caused by enterovirus in the United States. During the last decade, outbreaks of polio-like symptoms have been reported in children in Asia and Australia, and these infections have been associated with newly identified strains of enterovirus

"We think one reason why these cases may have occurred in California is that we are at the western-most part of the United States, so we may have had a higher circulation of the virus that was originally identified in Asia," said Dr. Emmanuelle Waubant, co-author of the case report and a neurologist at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. [7 Devastating Infectious Diseases]

Although two of the children tested positive for enterovirus-68, the researchers were not able to identify the cause of muscle weakness and paralysis in the other three children.

Enterovirus 68 is associated with respiratory illness and shares biological features with both the enteroviruses and the rhinoviruses
Received 19 December 2003.
Accepted 20 May 2004.

Enterovirus (EV) 68 was originally isolated in California in 1962 from four children with respiratory illness. Since that time, reports of EV68 isolation have been very uncommon. Between 1989 and 2003, 12 additional EV68 clinical isolates were identified and characterized, all of which were obtained from respiratory specimens of patients with respiratory tract illnesses.
...
These recent isolates, as well as the original California strains and human rhinovirus (HRV) 87 (recently shown to be an isolate of EV68 and distinct from the other human rhinoviruses), were compared by partial nucleotide sequencing in three genomic regions (partial sequencing of the 5′-non-translated region and 3D polymerase gene, and complete sequencing of the VP1 capsid gene). The EV68 isolates, including HRV87, were monophyletic in all three regions of the genome.

...

Human rhinovirus 87 (HRV87), which was isolated in 1963 in the same laboratory that isolated the original EV68 strains (Kapikian et al., 1971), is unique among the human rhinoviruses in its receptor usage (Uncapher et al., 1991). The prototype strain, Corn, is the only known example of HRV87.

Recent molecular and antigenic characterization has shown that HRV87-Corn is actually a strain of EV68, based upon cross-neutralization studies and comparison of partial capsid sequences (Blomqvist et al., 2002; Ishiko et al., 2002; Savolainen et al., 2002).
...
The origin of EV70 remains a mystery. It is most closely related genetically to EV68, a potential progenitor whose existence was known at the time of the global emergence of EV70 in the AHC pandemic of 1970; however, the relationship is not so close as to suggest a direct ancestral relationship. It has been hypothesized that EV70 may have emerged through an unknown mechanism from an animal reservoir (Yoshii et al., 1977).
...
The exclusive association of EV68 with respiratory disease, the acid lability of EV68 isolates and their poor growth at 37 °C and the apparent mistyping of the HRV87-Corn strain demonstrate that the distinctions between the enteroviruses and the rhinoviruses are neither as clear nor as reliably determined as conventionally believed
...
We are indebted to Jane LaFlash, Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, and the laboratory staff in other state health departments for their efforts in isolating these viruses. We also thank Dean Erdman, Division of Viral and Rickettsial Diseases, CDC, for providing a stock of HRV87-Corn

http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=526328
...
While the exact cause (or causes) of these California cases remains unknown, a viral infection is strongly suspected, and high on the list of suspects are members of the ubiquitous non-polio enterovirus family of viruses or NPEVs (which includes Coxsackievirus A, Coxsackievirus B, Echoviruses & numerous other Enteroviruses).

According to the CDC, NPEVs cause 10 to 15 million – mostly mild and often asymptomatic – infections in the United States each year, primarily among infants, children, and teenagers. Fever, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, a skin rash or mouth blisters, and body and muscle aches are the most commonly reported symptoms.

Enterovirus 68 is associated with respiratory illness

Journal of General Virology (2004), 85, 2577–2584

Enterovirus (EV) 68 was originally isolated in California in 1962 from four children with respiratory illness. Since that time, reports of EV68 isolation have been very uncommon.

Between 1989 and 2003, 12 additional EV68 clinical isolates were identified and characterized, all of which were obtained from respiratory specimens of patients with respiratory tract illnesses.

No EV68 isolates from enteric specimens have been identified from these same laboratories.
These recent isolates, as well as the original California strains and human rhinovirus (HRV) 87 (recently shown to be an isolate of EV68 and distinct from the other human rhinoviruses),

...

The human enteroviruses were originally classified on the  basis of disease in humans and growth in suckling mice,
resulting in four groups: polioviruses, coxsackie A viruses, coxsackie B viruses and echoviruses (Committee on the
Enteroviruses, 1957; Pallansch & Roos, 2001).

It soon became apparent that some coxsackieviruses were antigenically identical to echoviruses and that some strains of echoviruses were similar to certain coxsackieviruses in causing disease in mice (Committee on the Enteroviruses, 1957, 1962). As a result, the subsequently described enteroviruses were simply called ‘enterovirus’ and numbered sequentially, beginning with enterovirus 68 (EV68).

...

Human rhinovirus 87 (HRV87), which was isolated in 1963 in the same laboratory that isolated the original
EV68 strains (Kapikian et al., 1971), is unique among  the human rhinoviruses in its receptor usage

comparison of partial capsid sequences (Blomqvist et al., 2002; Ishiko et al., 2002; Savolainen et al., 2002).

To characterize EV68 further, we have determined the complete genome sequence of the prototype strain, Fermon,
and compared it with the previously determined complete sequence of the EV70 prototype strain, J670/71. We have
also determined partial genome sequences [partial sequences of the 59-non-translated (NTR) and 3D polymerase coding
regions and the complete VP1 capsid protein coding region sequence] for 15 additional EV68 isolates including the
three additional strains that were reported in the original description of EV68-Fermon (Schieble et al., 1967). To
our knowledge, this is the first reported characterization of EV68 clinical isolates since the report describing the
original 1962 isolates.

While many Americans have whipped themselves into a fervor over Ebola fears, it's another virus that should be causing worry.

Enterovirus-68, the rare and severe respiratory illness that started in the Midwest and spread quickly across the rest of the country, has been found in four dead people, though it is unclear whether the virus was the cause.

One of the patients was a 10-year-old girl from Cumberland, Rhode Island, according to the state's health department. She had a rare combination of EV-68 and Staphylococcus aureus sepsis, a bacterial infection that can cause severe illness in both children and adults. Her symptoms started out as those similar to the cold, but health officials say when she arrived at the hospital, her condition deteriorated quickly. She died Sept. 22 but the diagnosis was only recently confirmed.
...

Almost all cases of EV-68 in recent months have been in children, and most have recovered. This year, however, the virus spread more than usual, to nearly 500 known cases in 42 states and the District of Columbia. The majority have resulted in hospitalizations of children who have had difficulty breathing, particularly if they have asthma or a history of wheezing. Patients sometimes are treated in an intensive care unit, where they are given fluids, oxygen and medicine to help open their airways.

Nine children in Colorado have shown polio-like symptoms of body stiffness. The state's health department with CDC is investigating cases the cases, which they are describing as a co-occurring neurological illness. The agency has asked doctors to report any cases of muscle and limb weakness or paralysis.

New Jersey Boy, 4, Who Died of Enterovirus-68 Was "Full of Unconditional Love": Dad
Monday, Oct 6, 2014 • Updated at 12:49 PM EDT

The father of the 4-year-old New Jersey boy who died from enterovirus-68 said Sunday his son was "full of unconditional love" as he announced plans to establish a foundation in his son's memory to support students with special needs.

Eli Waller, of Mercer County, died in his sleep Sept. 25. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told New Jersey health officials Friday that Waller, the youngest of triplets, tested positive for EV-68, and the medical examiner determined the virus killed him.

Officials said Waller showed no symptoms prior to his death and was only out of school one day for what appeared to be pink eye. It turned out it was EV-68.

Eli Waller attended afternoon preschool at Yardville Elementary School. Another young boy who attends morning sessions at the school also showed symptoms of EV-D68 but is recovering at home after being released from the hospital

Human enteroviruses (familyPicornaviridae) infect millions of people worldwide each year, resulting in a wide range of clinical outcomes ranging from inapparent infection to mild respiratory illness (common cold), hand-foot-and-mouth disease, acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, aseptic meningitis, myocarditis, severe neonatal sepsis-like disease, and acute flaccid paralysis (reviewed in references 43 and45). In the United States, enteroviruses are responsible for 30,000 to 50,000 meningitis hospitalizations per year as a result of 30 million to 50 million infections.

Doctors Target Virus as Link to Solve Polio-Like Illness
7 October 2014

Excerpt:

Amid fears of Ebola’s reach into the U.S., a more enigmatic virus is suspected of causing paralysis in dozens of children nationwide as doctors race to solve one of the most perplexing mysteries of their careers.

Enterovirus D68, which has hospitalized hundreds of children in almost every state and been linked to at least four deaths, may also have caused unexplained paralysis in cases from Boston to San Diego, doctors said.

Researchers said they fear EV-D68 could be this generation’s version of polio, said Ben Greenberg, a Dallas-based neurologist.

Enterovirus typically causes only mild cold symptoms in most patients. Now, though, U.S. health officials are probing whether EV-D68 is directly linked to the paralysis.

At the same time, more than 50 doctors at top U.S. hospitals are holding regular calls and pooling research, seeking to pinpoint physical changes that may lead to a treatment or a vaccine.

They are in a race against time as the EV-D68 outbreak has yet to wane.

‘We don’t want to repeat mistakes of history,’’ said Greenberg, of the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center.

“If we could have accelerated the polio vaccine by a decade we could have saved a lot of people from the illness.”

Greenberg, who spoke by telephone, said he didn’t realize the full scope of the problem until early last week.

After reports of a cluster of 10 paralysis cases in Colorado, he and 30 other neurologists, infectious disease experts and public health officials hastily organized a conference call Sept. 29.

Proof: Virus leaving U.S. children paralyzed did come from Central America

Though the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) refuses to discuss the origin of the current outbreak of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68, the fact that emergency rooms across the country began seeing infected children around the same time as the nation's public schools were re-opening for the 2013-2014 school year, should serve as at least a clue as to how the virus made its way here.

Of course, the Obama administration has allowed tens of thousands of children to enter this country illegally over the past several months, and most of them have now been admitted to our public schools.

Between Oct. 1, 2013 and Aug. 31, 2014 there were 66,127 so-called "unaccompanied minors" entered this country along our Southern border and processed by officials, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

The CBP lists the country of origin for most of those children...

 -El Salvador...15,800
 -Guatemala...16,528
 -Honduras...17,975
 -Mexico...14,702

While the evidence seems to point to the recent surge of illegal aliens as the cause of the EV-D68 outbreak, now there is proof...

A 2013 Defense Department study conducted in Central and South America on patients with flu-like illness, did identify EV-D68 in some of the test subjects. All 3,375 test subjects were age 25 or under.

The CDC now reports that cases of EV-D68 have been seen in 43 states as well as the District of Columbia. However, unofficially, the virus which has left many children with permanent breathing problems and limb paralysis, has also taken the life of four U.S. children, since mid-August.

On Sept. 25, 4-year-old Eli Waller died in his sleep at his home in Hamilton, NJ.

I read this too.  I'm not 100% sold these illnesses are strictly from illegal aliens.

I'm not 100% sold that this is actually EV-D63 either.

There has been NO confirmation that the children who contracted this virus had ANY contact with the illegal minors that entered the US.

As far as this being EV-D68.  The lame stream media was ORDERED to call this a 'mystery virus' and, during the H1N! hoax, doctors were NOT even testing these children coming in with the sniffles but they got busted simply designating them as having H1N1.

The entire illegal children issue has given cover to the fact that these illnesses were already in the school required vaccines or a byproduct of them.

I agree with that .  Vaccines are the cause I'd be willing to bet.

Considering that this so called 'mystery' virus start to emerge BEFORE children started going to school in the late summer.

CDC denies enterovirus link to illegal-alien kids

Disease common in Latin America was rare in U.S.
Jerome R. Corsi   About      | Email  | Archive

... government data show the virus was rare in the U.S. before this year.

...  evidence buried in peer-reviewed medical journals provides support for the argument enterovirus D-68, or EV-D68, in the United States was a relatively rare disease. The EV-D68 epidemic occurred only after the surge this year of unaccompanied alien children illegally crossing the border from Latin America, a region where the virus is more prevalent among young children.

The CDC records nearly 700 people who have been diagnosed with the virus this year. Five children have died while infected.

As WND reported Tuesday, EV-D68, believed to cause polio-like paralysis in addition to flu symptoms, is widely suspected to have a direct connection to the Obama administration policy of placing across the U.S. tens of thousands of minors who have been allowed to enter without a health screening.

D-68 surge coincides with illegal aliens

The surge in EV D-68 in the U.S. became evident in mid-September when the CDC first reported it had reached epidemic levels in six U.S. states: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky and Missouri.

The surge in unaccompanied minors was also evident in September, with the numbers jumping from 16,067
apprehended in Fiscal Year 2011 to 24,481 in FY 2012 and from 38,833 in FY 2013 to 47,017 in the first eight months of FY 2014.

Currently, a page on the CDC website dedicated to “Enterovirus D68 in the United States, 2014″ discloses, “The United States is currently experiencing a nationwide outbreak of enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) associated with severe respiratory illness.”...

...

Asymptomatic carriers?

Jane Orient, M.D., of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, responded to the Centers for Disease Control’s denial of a causal link between the virus and the surge of illegal-alien minors.

“Keep in mind that Latin American children likely have some immunity and may not be sick, while still contagious,” she told WND.

The concern is that Latin American children in the U.S. might be carriers of EV-D68 even if they display no symptoms of the disease. It can be spread, the study said, by sneezing, coughing and the poor bathroom hygiene commonly found among Latin American unaccompanied alien children. The disease can be transmitted by “feces-to-mouth” contact between an infected person showing no symptoms and a previously uninfected person.

Investigators look beyond enterovirus as cause of paralysis in 51 kids

By Electa Draper
The Denver Post

Investigators have broadened their search for the cause of polio-like paralysis that has stricken 51 children across the country — including 11 in Colorado.

The lead suspect, enterovirus D68, and other viral illnesses sent thousands of Colorado children to hospitals and clinics with serious respiratory problems. That outbreak is subsiding, officials said, but questions remain.

In a cluster of Colorado cases, children developed spinal-cord lesions and partial paralysis following bouts of EV-D68-like illness, said Mark Pallansch, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Viral Diseases.

"These clusters are still quite puzzling to me," Pallansch said. "We have not found enterovirus D68 or any other pathogen in the children's spinal fluid. We are expanding the search to more aggressively look at pathogens other than D68."

It's a mystery that ultimately engulfed 51 children in 23 states between Aug. 1 and late October. A few more possible cases are being evaluated.

Girl paralyzed after complications with Enterovirus D68

CINCINNATI, Ohio (WDTN) – A Piqua girl is continuing to battle complications that stem from catching Enterovirus D68.

Madison Grigsby, 8, was like any other happy and healthy child up until September 22. That is the day her mother said changed her life forever.

“She was home when she collapsed,” said Erin Carey, Madison’s mother. “She was actually getting ready to get in the shower.”

The young girl was taken to Dayton Children’s where she was diagnosed with EV-D68.
But as her body was fighting the disease, another illness started attacking her spinal cord. It has left Madison paralyzed in her legs and feet.

“Basically, what it did to her body was it attacked her body to the point where her body couldn’t fight it off anymore which caused her to have transverse myelitis from it,” said Carey.

Madison was relocated to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she is undergoing rehab for transverse myelitis.

So it's NOT ev-68 and supposedly NOT polio .... So what is IT?

https://myelitis.org/resources/tma-blog/research-studies/reported-cases-polio-like-illness-relationship-transverse-myelitis/

Reported Cases of Polio- Like Illness and its Relationship to Transverse Myelitis

News reports from California have recently come out identifying a series of patients, mostly children, affected by a polio-like illness with symptoms that can mimic transverse myelitis (TM).

Naturally, these reports have raised questions within our community so we thought it would be important to address some of the concerns. First, it’s important to have some background

...

Polio is caused by a virus that specifically infects the cells within the spinal cord responsible for projecting out to muscle groups (the so called lower motor neurons). When these cells die the muscles they connect to cannot be activated. Classically, transverse myelitis causes damage to the wires that are responsible for connecting the brain to these lower motor neurons, leaving the connection from spinal cord to muscle intact, but interrupting the signal that was originally meant to activate the pathway. In clinic, we tend to describe this as “wire number 1 and wire number 2″.
Wire number one goes from brain to spinal cord and wire number two goes from cord to muscle.
Polio damages wire number 2 and traditionally,
TM damages wire number 1....

...

There is a virus [ev-68] that has been identified in some patients – a previously recognized cousin of the poliovirus – that may be the causative agent. It is also worth noting that this syndrome (viral damage to wire number 2) has been described with multiple viruses, including west nile virus.

In the end, this is a reminder of the importance for improved diagnostic algorithms for patients and increased research into the world of acute paralyzing illnesses. The TMA and the UT Southwestern/Children’s Medical Center TM program will continue to monitor events and update our community.

Importing a Potential Epidemic
The dark truth about disease and Obama's border lawlessness.

June 23, 2015
Arnold Ahlert

By now most Americans are familiar with the Obama administration?s ongoing effort to force-feed amnesty for illegals to a largely recalcitrant American public. The most egregious part of this effort occurred during last year?s border ?surge? when the administration not only embraced the admittance of tens of thousands of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) into our nation, but the purposeful and secret dispersal of them into all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

What Americans don?t know is that the Obama administration ignored Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines that apply to legal immigrants and prevent the unvaccinated, or those with a "communicable disease of public health significance,? from entering the country.

As a result, it is quite possible the outbreak of unknown diseases or those mostly eradicated in the U.S. for quite some time is no coincidence. The administration?s stance on the issue? A combination of silence, denial, or blame-shifting to the anti-vaxxer crowd.

We begin with last year?s outbreak of Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68), a disease that paralyzed and killed American children. That in and of itself should have elicited a media firestorm, along with demands for establishing the origins of the outbreak beyond a reasonable doubt. Yet coverage was scant. Reporter Sharryl Attkisson revealed the disease was first identified in California in 1962, but that outbreaks had been relatively rare. She further noted the CDC ?hasn?t suggested reasons for the current uptick or its origin.?

Sundance at theconservativetreehouse.com attempted to correlate the outbreaks of the disease with the location of UAC shelters. And while part of his investigation was stymied by the reality that the administration kept many of those shelter locations secret, "there are significant numbers of them in both cities in which the current outbreak was first identified,? he explained.

Ultimately, it was the Daily Caller that reported the disease "was likely propelled through America by President Barack Obama?s decision to allow tens of thousands of Central Americans across the Texas border, according to a growing body of genetic and statistical evidence,? further noting ?the epidemic included multiple strains of the virus, and that it appeared simultaneously in multiple independent locations.?

Nonetheless the CDC simply denied the link, despite the reality that the EV-D68 outbreak in 2014 infected at least 538 people in 47 states, even as a study published on the CDC?s own website reveals the disease ?is one of the most rarely reported serotypes, with only 26 reports throughout the 36-year study period (1970 through 2006).?
