Monsanto Protection Act this Thursday H.R. 1599

Monsanto’s Dream Bill (our nightmare) will be up for a vote this Thursday in the House.

This bill allows Monsanto and all food producers to Never Ever have to disclose if there are any GMO’s in their food and never require labeling. It allows all GMO Products to be labeled Natural.

This bill overrides all local and State Government regulations relating to GMO labeling such as the recent Vermont Law requiring GMO labeling.

It is doubly bad in that it forever holds harmless Monsanto such that any cross contamination or labeling from the farm or the actual seed never has to be disclosed and forever takes away anyone’s right to sue Monsanto for any contamination or lack of labeling on any product from farm to consumer.

Monsanto has plowed a lot of money into congress and this bill is expected to pass easily under the radar, nobody knows about it.

You can’t let someone else take up this battle for you. You will have to call congress from your local area codes and tell them you are paying attention, which is the only way this one will be stopped.

07/21/2015 Rules Committee Resolution H. Res. 369 Reported to House. Resolution provides for consideration of H.R. 1599 and H.R. 1734.

Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015

This bill amends the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act to require the developer of a bioengineered organism intended as food to submit a premarket biotechnology notification to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A “bioengineered organism” (commonly called a “genetically modified organism” or “GMO”) is a plant or part of a plant that has been modified through recombinant DNA techniques in a way that could not be obtained using conventional breeding techniques.

The premarket notification must include the developer’s determination that food from, containing, or consisting of the GMO (GMO food) is as safe as a comparable non-GMO food. For the GMO to be sold as food, the FDA must not object to the developer’s determination. If the FDA determines that there is a material difference between a GMO food and a comparable non-GMO food, the FDA can specify labeling that informs consumers of the difference.

A food label can only claim that a food is non-GMO if the ingredients are subject to certain supply chain process controls. No food label can suggest that non-GMO foods are safer than GMO foods. A food can be labeled as non-GMO even if it is produced with a GMO processing aid or enzyme or derived from animals fed GMO feed or given GMO drugs.

The FDA must allow, but not require, GMO food to be labeled as GMO.

The FDA must regulate the use of “natural” on food labels.

This bill amends the Agricultural Marketing Act of 1946 to require the Agricultural Marketing Service to establish a program to certify non-GMO food.
This bill preempts state and local restrictions on GMOs or GMO food and labeling requirements for GMOs, GMO food, non-GMO food, or “natural” food.

  Bump.

I just heard Jonathan Emord--a lawyer that is on the Jeff Rense Slow all the time.  He said that you will not know if you are eating a GMO or not if this goes through.

They don't have to say that a food has GMOs in it.

  More slow killing us.

Rat bastards!   >:(

No one wanted the bailouts but they did it anyway!

There were 56 no-vote holdouts in the House the day they voted on the first bailout in October of 2008. California Representative Brad Sherman was one of them and described on Alex's October 3, 2008 show what happened when the no-votes were called into closed session by Goldman-Sax alumni and then Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. The only thing Sherman could say for sure was that Paulson threatened them with Martial law in the streets... not the back peddled spin put on it later saying that there would be martial law in congress... oh I'm sure...

If you want to see what the criminal Hank Paulson is up to now... Grab the July 2015, Pluto issue of National Geographic and flip open the cover and the first three pages and there on the left you will see the scum bag talking about his new enterprise to save the planet... makes me sick!

The people must rise up in a flood that cannot be ignored... tie up every phone line and email in Washington against this MONSATANIC TRAVESTY!!!

U.S. House Debate on Genetically Modified Food Labeling

The House is debating a bill to establish voluntary labeling standards for foods containing genetically modified ingredients.

Although H.R. 1599 is likely to pass in the House of Representatives, it faces an uphill challenge in the Senate. Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) is developing similar legislation for the Senate to consider. However, it is unclear if the Senate will take up this matter in the near future.

one of the big issues is the ability to export / import gmo products ...

Identification of gmo products or the ability to claim gmo's are not gmo is a big deal ...

one would expect that the global future trade deals will overrule all these laws ...

House approves voluntary GMO labeling bill, H.R. 1599
House agrees with bill offered by Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan., that would allow for a voluntary GMO labeling system

Published on: Jul 23, 2015

The bill, H.R. 1599, the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act, was passed 275-150 without four amendments that were considered, and voted down, before taking a final vote on the full bill

...

The bill also calls on FDA to allow, but not require, GMO food to be labeled as GMO, and regulates the use of the term "natural." Further, the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service may establish a program to certify non-GMO food under the bill.

In an unusual move, a procedural amendment following the passage of the bill was offered by Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., to rename the bill the "Deny Americans the Right To Know" Act. It was voted down.

Related: GMO labeling logistics concern farmers, manufacturers

That moniker is favored by bill opponents and the consumer group Center for Food Safety, which says H.R. 1599 will deny voters the right to pass state bills to label GM food. Opponents also say the bill will withhold information from consumers by not requiring affirmative GMO labels.

Hi T..
Do your remember in the 70's demonstrators surrounded the home of the Monsanto scientist who assisted developing Agent Orange, he had gathered his family and packed up his car & ran for it, it was on the news, in those days we got a sliver of truth.
Times have changed. Heck they even showed military funerals, on the ground in Nam, but not anymore.
Monsanto is a neocons tentacle.             Gov approved.
