This is no surprise.

1) The Russians haven't delivered or trained the Syrian troops with the S-300 system yet.

2) Turkey needs a distraction from it's riots.  (They will join us)

3) The rebels are about to lose.

4) We have been moving thousands of troops quietly to the borders in the region.

5) Iran is busy with an election.

6) Obama also desperately needs a distraction from all the negative attention.

7) So does many Govt. agencies for the same reasons.   Something to help the sheeple go back to sleep, ignore the problems at home.

Yet...
Many news sources have info on what the US Govt. is doing all the sudden.
And Syria has no interest in actually winning against the rebels, because in their moment of victory, they use chemical weapons...

Yaaa, right....
Can you say Iraq and weapons of mass destruction.  I see a similarity here.

8]  A good war will boost Obama's ratings with all his scandals he has going on right now.  He needs to Wag the Dog and wag it hard.

Rebels clash with Qaeda-linked opposition group in Syria
6 July 2013

Rebels clashed with an opposition unit linked to al-Qaeda in northern Syria, activists said on Saturday, in a deadly battle that signals growing divisions among rebel groups and rising tensions between locals and more radical Islamist factions.

The rebel infighting comes as forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad have made gains on the battlefield and drawn comfort from the downfall this week of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, which under ousted President Mohammed Mursi had thrown its weight behind the Syrian opposition.

The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), the new al-Qaeda franchise announced by the head of global network’s Iraq leader, has been quickly working to cement power in rebel-held territories of northern Syria in recent months.

SNC fails again in electing new leader
July 6, 2013

The divided foreign-backed Syrian opposition has failed to elect a new leader during its latest meeting in the Turkish city of Istanbul.

Both top candidates — Ahmad Jarba, a tribal figure linked with Saudi Arabia, and Mustafa al-Sabbagh, a businessman who is Qatar’s point man, were not able to gain half of the 115 votes of the members of the so-called Syrian National Coalition (SNC) early on Saturday.

Another meeting was scheduled for later on Saturday as the SNC is split into three power centers including “the Muslim Brotherhood, the Sabbagh faction, and a Saudi-backed bloc that includes Jarba,” according to Reuters.

The foreign-backed opposition has been without a leader for months.

Report: Israeli submarine strike hit Syrian arms depot
07/14/2013

Sunday Times contradicts a CNN report claiming that the Israeli air force bombed the depot; attack said to be coordinated with the US.

Israeli Dolphin-class submarines carried out a July 5 attack on an arms depot in the Syrian port city of Latakia, according to a report in the British Sunday Times, which contradicted a previous CNN report that the attack was the work of the Israel Air Force.

The alleged Israeli naval strike was closely coordinated with the United States and targeted a contingent of 50 Russian-made Yakhont P-800 anti-ship missiles that had arrived earlier in the year for Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime, the Times cited Middle East intelligence sources as stating.

Delivery Error? US weapons show up in hands of pro-Assad fighters
Published on Jul 17, 2013 - RT

US and European arms, intended for Syrian rebels - are ending up in the hands of pro-government forces. Pictures have flooded the internet, showing Shiite militias, fighting alongside President Assad's troops - using Western weaponry. And that's fuelled concerns that Washington is unable to control where its weapons are ending up, as RT's Gayane Chichakyan reports.

http://www.syrianews.cc/massacre-khan-assal-terrorists-syria/
Massacre in Khan al-Assal: Terrorists killed at least 123 Syrians

Heinous massacre near Aleppo: Death toll is expected to increase.

While the Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud, has confirmed that the country’s Prime Minister Wael Nader Al-Halqi will take part in the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of Hassan Rohani as new president in Iran, there are really sad news about the massacre in Khan al-Assal (sometimes Khan al-Asal), which were carried out by a group of foreign-backed terrorists against mainly unarmed Syrian civilian yesterday.

The current death toll from the massacre in Khan al-Assal in the countryside of the former economic centre of Syria, Aleppo, has reached 123 martyrs, while it is sadly to expect that the number of the executed Syrian civilians will still increase in the upcoming hours. Khan al-Assal is already known from an attack by a group of foreign-backed terrorists against Syrian civilians and soldiers earlier this year. According to Russian experts, the foreign-supported terrorists have fired a missile filled with sarin nerve gas in this older attack against Syrian soldiers and civilians.

Now, at least 123 unarmed civilians have been killed by a group of terrorists in Khan al-Assal, located in Syria’s northern governorate of Aleppo.

According to the Syrian news agency SANA, the majority of the victims, killed by the foreign-supported terrorists yesterday, were Syrian civilians and thus, just normal locals in the Syrian town of Khan al-Assal (Khan al-Asal).

Several medical tests have already helped to identify six of the victims according to the source of SANA. The massacre in Khan al-Assal was another horrible and inhuman act by the foreign-backed terrorists, who will even receive new weapons soon by Saudi Arabia, the Israeli regime, and by the Obama administration in Washington – at least, there are several reports about upcoming arms deliveries by these states into the violent hands of the terrorists fighting in Syria against the secular government in Damascus and, as you see, against the normal and sure secular civilians in such villages like Khan al-Assal.

Syrian Troops Attack Khan Al-Assal, Site Of Alleged Nerve Gas Attack
By BARBARA SURK 07/31/13
...
The United States, which supports the opposition, and Russia, which backs the Assad government, are trying to convene a conference in Geneva to get both sides to implement a peace plan adopted in the Swiss city a year ago. It calls for the establishment of a transitional governing body vested with full executive powers.
...
Al-Jarba's comments coincided with a new assault by Syrian government forces to regain control of a northern village that was the site of an alleged chemical weapons attack earlier this year, activists said. The push on Khan al-Assal, a village on the southwestern outskirts of the embattled city of Aleppo, comes more than a week after it was captured by the rebels.

That was a rare battlefield success for the rebels after they suffered two major setbacks during a wide-ranging government offensive in central Syria. In June, Assad's army recaptured the strategic town of Qusair near the Lebanese border, and this week, government troops took control of a district in the city of Homs that had long been an opposition stronghold.
...
Khan al-Assal was the scene of a purported chemical attack on March 19 that killed at least 30 people. Assad's regime and the rebels have blamed each other for that attack.

France calls for 'force' if Syria chemical weapons use is proved

(CNN) -- France's foreign minister said Thursday that "a reaction of force must be taken" if Syrian activists' claims that the government has used chemical weapons outside the capital, Damascus, are confirmed.
France's foreign minister said Thursday that force must be used reaction of force must be taken" if Syrian activists' claims that the government has used chemical weapons outside the capital, Damascus, are confirmed.
Anti-regime activist groups say more than 1,300 people were killed in the attack, many of them women and children. Video footage and witness reports appeared to bolster claims that chemical weapons were used.
Suffering in Syria is clear, but cause and culprits are murky
The reports prompted international outrage, with a U.N. Security Council briefing called late Wednesday to discuss the situation. However, Russia and China -- consistent allies of the Syrian government -- reportedly blocked a formal resolution.

Syrian forces bomb area of alleged chemical attack

BEIRUT (AP) - President Bashar Assad's forces pressed on with a military offensive in eastern Damascus on Thursday, bombing rebel-held suburbs where the opposition said a chemical weapons attack the day before killed over 100 people.
The government has denied allegations it used chemical weapons in artillery barrages on the area known as eastern Ghouta on Wednesday as "absolutely baseless." The United States, Britain and France have demanded that a team of U.N. experts already in Syria be granted immediate access to investigate the site.
Syrian opposition figures and activists have reported widely varying death tolls from Wednesday's attack, from 136 to as high as 1,300. But even the most conservative tally would make it the deadliest alleged chemical attack in Syria's civil war.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had no word on casualties in the Thursday morning bombing of eastern Ghouta. It said Syrian warplanes conducted several air raids on eastern and western suburbs of Damascus, including three that took place within five minutes.

Wednesday's alleged chemical weapons attack left scores of children dead, their lifeless bodies appearing in amateur videos wrapped in white cloths, their pale skin unmarked by any wounds.
UNICEF said in a statement that the reports of attacks on civilians, presumably including children, were "deeply disturbing."
"Such horrific acts should be a reminder to all the parties and all who have influence on them that this terrible conflict has gone on far too long and children have suffered more than enough," UNICEF said. "Children must be protected, and those who fail to protect them will be held accountable."
Mohammed Abdullah, an activist in the suburb of Saqba told The Associated Press via Skype that most of the dead were buried the same day in mass graves in different areas in eastern Ghouta. He said the burials took place quickly for fear the bodies might decompose as a result of the heat and lack of electricity.

Syria conflict: chemical weapons blamed as hundreds reported killed
Death toll claimed to be as high as 1,400 as Syrian government admits launching offensive but denies using chemical weapons

Martin Chulov, Mona Mahmood and Ian Sample
The Guardian, Wednesday 21 August 2013

http://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2013/aug/21/syria-footage-shows-aftermath-alleged-gas-attack-video

Hundreds of people are believed to have been killed in an apparent gas attack on rebel-held parts of eastern Damascus that is thought to be the most significant use of chemical weapons since thousands of Kurds were gassed by Saddam Hussein in Halabja 25 years ago.

Medics, as well as opposition fighters and political leaders, said the death toll had reached 1,400 and was likely to rise further with hundreds more critically wounded in districts besieged by the Syrian military. Other estimates put the current death toll at between 200 and 500. None of the figures could be independently verified. On Thursday morning rebels said new bombardments of rockets and mortars struck neighbourhoods hit by the gas attack.

The Syrian government acknowledged it had launched a major offensive in rebel-held districts in the east of the capital – described by pro-regime media as the biggest since the start of the civil war – but strongly denied using chemical weapons.

"These are lies that serve the propaganda of the terrorists," a Syrian official said, referring to the armed opposition. "We would not use such weapons."

However, George Sabra, the head of the main Syrian opposition group, laid the blame squarely at the Assad regime, saying the scenes "constitute a turning point in the regime's operations".

...
A UN inspection team arrived in Damascus this week to look into earlier claims of chemical weapon use, but was granted permission to enter Syria with a limited mission to investigate only three specific sites. An expanded mandate to investigate Wednesday's attack in eastern Ghouta – only 10 miles from the team's hotel – must be sought by the UN secretary general and then approved by Syria.
...
"Most of the victims were shivering and they turned yellow. I saw a woman who was tearing at her clothes as she could not breathe. The number of the casualties that we were able to document so far is 1,228 martyrs. The doctors think that more than 20 shells were fired with fatal gases.

"Most of the victims did not appear to be injured but died out of suffocation. I held a young boy whose body was like a piece of wood and his colour was very blue. He did not have any wound."

Advancing the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention With Bio-Transparency and Openness Initiative
Posted by Laura Kennedy / September 26, 2012

...
Ambassador Laura Kennedy serves as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and U.S. Special Representative for Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention Issues.

As head of our delegation to the December 2011 Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) Review Conference, Secretary Clinton detailed a comprehensive U.S. program, including a new Bio-Transparency and Openness Initiative. While the BWC is not verifiable in the traditional sense, much can be done to enhance confidence in compliance with the treaty, one of the three pillars of the international non-proliferation regime against weapons of mass destruction.

As part of Secretary Clinton's initiative, the United States hosted a tour this summer of its National Interagency Biodefense Campus at Ft. Detrick, Maryland. I accompanied a small group of Geneva-based Ambassadors to the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases and the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasure Center of the Department of Homeland Security. Senior officials from the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Agriculture discussed the challenges of modern-day biological threats. The program featured the importance of a "whole- of- government" approach to combat biological threats, best practices in bio-safety and security and showcased our international cooperation and assistance programs.

Another step to implement the Secretary's Bio-Transparency and Openness Initiative was the International Conference on Health and Security (ICHS) hosted in Washington, D.C. on September 5-6. In close collaboration with the White House, we partnered with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and a number of other Departments to reinforce the message of transparency and collaboration. We also focused on another key aspect of the Obama Administration's bio policy -- the nexus between security and health. Illustrating the synergies between these two broad communities were the presentations by HHS Assistant Secretary Lurie and FBI Assistant Director Perren, World Health Organization's Assistant Secretary-General for Health Security and Environment Keiji Fukuda and BWC ISU Director Lenanne. Conference participants came from 30 countries and included both foreign affairs officials as well as experts from the law enforcement, security and public health fields. Further reflecting our view on today's bio threats and the need to develop broad-ranging national and international capacities, we included representatives from a number of international organizations, industry, science and NGO's. The conference panels and tabletop exercise demonstrated the value of cross-discipline coordination and collaboration on biological threat prevention, preparedness and response.

During the International Conference on Health and Security (ICHS), the FBI introduced a new tool to share bio-security and bioterrorism prevention and response best practices via a Web Portal for the International Bio-security and Prevention Forum (IBPF). We encourage those interested in learning more about this tool to visit the site at www.ibpforum.org and take advantage of this new resource to continue and expand our international dialogue.

More broadly, the Secretary's Bio-Transparency and Openness Initiative reflects the Administration's commitment to creating an unprecedented level of transparency and openness in the U.S. government in order to ensure greater accountability and effectiveness in governance. In a concluding note on the value of transparency and collaboration, we are posting speeches and documents from the International Conference on Health and Security on our website at http://geneva.usmission.gov/us-cd. I hope all of our readers, both in the United States and abroad, will visit it to learn more about this vital aspect of international security.

Ambassador Laura Kennedy Named U.S. Special Representative for Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) Issues

December 3, 2010

Laura Kennedy, the United States Ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament, has been named as the U.S. Special Representative for Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BWC) Issues. Amb. Kennedy will serve in these two capacities concurrently, and as BWC Special Representative will report to the Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation (ISN), the Department of State’s lead bureau on BWC issues. Her critical task as Special Representative will be to conduct the multilateral diplomacy leading up to the December 2011 five-year Review Conference for the BWC, and to lead U.S. efforts at the Conference itself. The U.S. National Strategy for Countering Biological Threats, released in November 2009, sees the BWC as the premier forum for members of the security, health, and scientific communities to come together to better understand and raise awareness of evolving biological risks and cooperate in the development, coordination, and implementation of practices for biological risk management.

US forces move closer to Syria as options weighed

By BRADLEY KLAPPER and ROBERT BURNS
Associated Press

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. naval forces are moving closer to Syria as President Barack Obama considers military options for responding to the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Assad government. The president emphasized that a quick intervention in the Syrian civil war was problematic, given the international considerations that should precede a military strike.

The White House said the president would meet Saturday with his national security team to consider possible next steps by the United States. Officials say once the facts are clear, Obama will make a decision about how to proceed.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel declined to discuss any specific force movements while saying that Obama had asked the Pentagon to prepare military options for Syria. U.S. defense officials told The Associated Press that the Navy had sent a fourth warship armed with ballistic missiles into the eastern Mediterranean Sea but without immediate orders for any missile launch into Syria.

U.S. Navy ships are capable of a variety of military action, including launching Tomahawk cruise missiles, as they did against Libya in 2011 as part of an international action that led to the overthrow of the Libyan government.

Obama Insists 'No Rush' on Launching Attack

Officials continue hyping Wednesday’s allegations of a chemical weapons strike, saying that they believe such an attack probably happened even though they don’t have any actual proof to back that up. Conveniently enough, the Pentagon has new plans for attacking Syria.

The Pentagon was apparently hard at work coming up with these new plans and new targets, even though Joint Chiefs chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey had only two days prior warned against military involvement, and now has the cruise missiles ready to go, just waiting for presidential approval to launch the attack.

Now officials seem closer than ever to starting a war, and though President Obama did insist there would be “no rush” to attack Syria, there seems to be a renewed Congressional push to get the jump on Syria by not waiting for any pesky evidence to support their claims and just attacking outright.

With NATO allies France and Turkey already on the bandwagon and the Pentagon now having cruise missiles ready to go at a moment notice, it will be awfully easy for the administration to start attacking and argue that it was a “compromise” compared to some other, even bigger attack.

The case for that already seems to be getting laid out by the White House, which insists that they don’t envision “boots on the ground” during any potential military intervention.

Please provide links to show us this is true.

If we have boots on the ground in Syria, these soldiers better have toe tags in their backpacks.

It would be insanity to go into Syria.

I believe it was a story that was actually put on infowars.com within the last few days but i will have to look for it again . I remember it stated that we had special forces that were either in Turkey or Jordan that were training 300 handpicked rebel fighters.
And that they went into Syria on two different days 150 at a time ... Question is did our special forces go in with them ? That I cannot answer.

Here is the story http://www.infowars.com/us-trained-rebels-moved-towards-damascus-days-before-chemical-attack/

Thank you.  That's rebels trained by Americans and Israelis----not Americans actually going into Syria.
Of course Obama's main boys in Syria now are the Muslim Brotherhood and other rebels including these guys in the article.

I believe that IF OBAMA STARTS AN ATTACK IT WILL BE MAINLY DRONES AND CRUISE MISSILES.

So overpriced but the government doesn't care---as long as they can print the money and give it to their friends in the military-industrial complex.

U.S. Forces Are Ready to Act on Syria as UN Envoy Arrives
24 August 2013
, by Gopal Ratnam (Bloomberg)
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/print/2013-08-24/u-s-forces-poised-to-act-on-syria-if-ordered-hagel-says.html

Excerpt:

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel indicated that U.S. military forces, including naval vessels, are positioned in the Mediterranean and ready to act if President Barack Obama calls on the Pentagon to strike Syria.

“The Defense Department has a responsibility to provide the president with options for all contingencies,” Hagel told reporters yesterday while en route to Kuala Lumpur, where he starts a week-long visit to the region.

“That requires positioning our forces, positioning our assets to be able to carry out different options, whatever option the president may choose.”

Military options include the repositioning of personnel and assets including ships, so as to be ready if the president chooses a military intervention, a senior U.S. defense official told reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss internal planning.

Obama is under increased pressure to intervene in Syria amid allegations that President Bashar al-Assad’s government used chemical arms in an Aug. 21 attack in a Damascus suburb that opposition groups say killed 1,300 people.

Obama is meeting with his national security team in Washington to discuss the reports, a White House official said in an e-mail statement to reporters.

The president has ordered intelligence officials to gather evidence about what happened.

Once the facts are clear, Obama will make a decision on how to respond within a range of options that are available, according to the statement.

Syrian War Escalating!:  U.S. Troops to Turkish Border - Panetta

US troops stationed on Syrian border : Reports denied by Turkey
12 October, 2012 | 17:38

Turkish Foreign Ministry officials have categorically denied media reports claiming that US special forces in number stationed close to the Syrian border in Turkey, a day following a Washington confirmation on USA support to Turkey with humanitarian and weapons issues.

Ankara / NationalTurk – Speaking on the condition of anonymity, Turkish sources denied the claim of British daily The Times that U.S. and French special forces had been at İncirlik airbase in southern Turkey province of Adana for weeks.

But U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta confirmed on Oct. 10 that Washington had contacted Turkey on humanitarian, as well as chemical and biological weapons issues: ”They’re obviously concerned about the chemical and biological sites in regional countries as well, so we’ve worked with them to do what we can to monitor that situation, since we are the gendarmerie of the world.”

USA : Operative in Jordan and Turkey for humanity (my ass)

Panetta also added that U.S. military planners were in Jordan to help Amman grapple with Syrian refugees, bolster its military capabilities and prepare for any trouble with Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles. “We have been working with Jordan for a period of time now … on a number of the issues that have developed as a result of what’s happened in Syria,” Reuters quoted Panetta as saying in Brussels.

The defense chief said those issues included monitoring chemical weapons sites “to determine how best to respond to any concerns in that area.”

About 150 U.S. troops, largely Army special operations forces, are working out of a military center near Amman, two senior defense officials said on condition of anonymity.

US Troops near Syria Turkey Border : According to US defense secretary Paneta : They are just planners

The US troops have moved back and forth to the Syrian border as part of their work, which includes joint planning and intelligence gathering, one official said. A second U.S. official said the small team of planners was not engaged in covert operations and had been housed at the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center, north of the capital, Amman, since the early summer. Earlier in the day, Jordan’s military had denied the U.S. military was helping the kingdom. While the U.S. has not intervened militarily in Syria, President Barack Obama has warned Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that any attempt to deploy or use chemical or biological weapons would cross a “red line” that could provoke U.S. action.

Late last month, Leon Panetta said Syria had moved some of its chemical weapons stocks to better secure them but added that the country’s main chemical weapons sites remained intact and secure under Assad government control.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole ; He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. - Job 5

The deadly red tag, "remove" has accompanied our latest message at the One Day Prior thread, thus alerting us to a possible filter in place to tell the prisoner message to go to the left or to the right on the train platform at Auschwitz. That is why we must continue elsewhere to be completely safe from any fascism. The chem attack is Hezbollah Latina Americana (Ely Karman) when it comes to the Mayan links to Benghazi and the Panzos massacre.
