Renegotiating NAFTA on hold, Obama says

The president's message served as a reminder of last year's private assessment by Canadian officials that then-candidate Obama's frequent criticisms of NAFTA were nothing more than campaign speeches aimed at chasing support among Rust Belt union workers.

"Much of the rhetoric that may be perceived to be protectionist is more reflective of political maneuvering than policy," the Canadians concluded in a memo after meeting with Austan Goolsbee, a senior campaign aide and now a member of Obama's Council of Economic Advisers.

When the memo became public, Obama advisers rejected the idea as absurd and insisted that he was serious about changing NAFTA. Obama even suggested that the United States might opt out of NAFTA if the standards couldn't be improved to America's satisfaction.

But some longtime observers of the U.S.-Canada relationship said Obama's current position appears to confirm the impression that Canadian officials got from the meeting with Goolsbee.
...
The president instead focused on the idea of developing carbon capture and storage to help turn the sands into a clean source of power, a largely unproven and not yet cost-effective technology that would bury harmful emissions underground.

U.S. lawmakers launch push to repeal NAFTA
By Doug Palmer

WASHINGTON Thu Mar 4, 2010 4:35pm EST

Reuters) - A small group of U.S. lawmakers unveiled legislation on Thursday to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement in the latest sign of congressional disillusionment with free-trade deals.

The bill spearheaded by Rep. Gene Taylor, a Mississippi Democrat, would require President Barack Obama to give Mexico and Canada six months notice that the United States will no longer be part of the 16-year-old trade pact.

"At a time when 10 to 12 percent of the American people are unemployed, I think Congress has an obligation to put people back to work," Taylor said.

He argued NAFTA has cost the United States millions of manufacturing jobs and hurt national security by encouraging companies to move production to Mexico.

The high unemployment rate makes it the "perfect" time to push for repeal even though past efforts have failed, he said.

"You'll see the American people rally behind this, in my humble opinion," said Rep. Walter Jones, a North Carolina Republican who is one of about 28 co-sponsors of the bill.

Business groups like the National Association of Manufacturers and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly support NAFTA, which they say has spurred U.S. economic growth by tearing down trade barriers between the three countries.
...
The House of Representatives is expected to vote later this year on whether the United States should remain a member of the World Trade Organization.

U.S. law allows House and Senate members to request a vote on that issue every five years. In 2005, 86 of the House's 435 members voted to withdraw from the world trade body

Congress shocker. Democrats buck Obama, introduce bill to repeal NAFTA!

A group of 28 diverse House members, ranging from conservatives, to moderates, to leftists, are sponsoring a bill to repeal NAFTA. Opposing NAFTA was one of the first major issues of the CofCC, and an issue in the CofCC statement of principles. As recently as 2008, conservatives were still being ridiculed by the left-wing media for calling for the repeal of NAFTA.

It’s encouraging to see left-wing Democrats co-opting one of our issues!

NAFTA is the free trade agreement that has devastated American jobs. It was pushed by left-wing Democrats and Neo-Conservative Republicans. It was pushed through congress by Bill Clinton.

The introduction of the bill comes at a time when Obama’s own Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is campaigning for expanding NAFTA (which would violate Obama’s own campaign promise not to do so).

Illegal Aliens receive BILLIONS in fraudulent IRS Tax Refunds
Published on Apr 2, 2013

Owner and originator of this video is WTHR-TV Channel 13 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Originally aired in April of 2012, this video should make your blood boil. Illegal aliens and the IRS are two hot-button issues. Here, they combine in the most offensive way you can possibly imagine. Illegal aliens are collecting BILLIONS of dollars in FRAUDULENT Tax Returns by exploiting the "Additional Child Tax Credit," which pays these illegal invaders up to $1,000 per child for their kids, many of whom have never even set foot in the US! Are you angry yet? Many of the filers list 10, 11, even a dozen children, and the IRS sends them YOUR MONEY, tens of thousands of dollars, to the tune of BILLIONS of dollars EVERY YEAR. Advocates for illlegal aliens love to say that they "contribute to our economy" and are a "net gain" for us. Ummm, no, I don't think so. They are a HUGE LOSS and enormous burden to our society and our wallets. One thing is true, though. When the bleeding-hearts tell us these people are coming here "for a better life," I guarantee that's true!

Raise the Minimum Wage to $14 An Hour Using This One Easy Trick
Ann Coulter | Feb 26, 2014

Democrats believe they've hit on the perfect issue to distract from the horror of Obamacare in the 2014 elections: the minimum wage.

...
Of course, the reason American workers’ wages are so low in the first place is because of the Democrats' policies on immigration. Republicans might want to point that out.

Since the late 1960s, the Democrats have been dumping about a million low-skilled immigrants on the country every year, driving down wages, especially at the lower end of the spectrum.

According to Harvard economist George Borjas, our immigration policies have reduced American wages by $402 billion a year -- while increasing profits for employers by $437 billion a year. (That's minus what they have to pay to the government in taxes to support their out-of-work former employees. Of course, we're all forced to share that tax burden.)

Or, as the White House puts it on its website promoting an increase in the minimum wage, "Today, the real value of the minimum wage has fallen by nearly one-third since its peak in 1968."

Why were wages so high until 1968? Because that's when Teddy Kennedy's 1965 Immigration Act kicked in, bringing in about a million immigrants a year, almost 90 percent of them unskilled workers from the Third World.
...
Do Republicans have any principles at all? Why isn't the GOP demanding an end to this dump of unskilled workers/Democratic voters on the country?
...
Instead of training the citizenry to look at the government as our paternal benefactor, distributing minimum wage laws and unemployment benefits in important election years, why don't Republicans put an end to the artificial glut of low-wage, low-skilled workers being imposed on the country by our immigration laws?

Republicans could guarantee a $14 minimum wage simply by closing the pipeline of more than 1 million poor immigrants coming in every year.

Businessmen will gripe, but maybe the GOP could explain to their Chamber of Commerce friends that they will help them by slashing oppressive regulations, reining in government bureaucracies, passing tort reform, etc. They'll also be able to cut taxes because the welfare state will shrink, a result of Americans going back to work.

But if the plutocrats insist on admitting another 30 million Democratic voters in order to get ever-cheaper labor, then, soon, Republicans won't be in a position to help them at all.
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole ; He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. - Job 5

Nearly 20 million illegal immigrants in U.S., former Border Patrol agents say
By Stephen Dinan
The Washington Times
Monday, September 9, 2013

The number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. is actually closer to 20 million, according to former Border Patrol agents who issued a letter this weekend disputing the count of 11 million that the government and most top private demographers use.

“The more likely figure is 18-20 million and rising daily,” Zack Taylor, chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, Inc., said in an open letter dated Sunday.

NAFBPO opposes the Senate bill that would grant legal status to illegal immigrants, with the organization arguing that current immigration laws aren’t broken and should be enforced.

ICE Reverts to Law Enforcement to Boost Deportation Numbers in 2012
By Jessica Vaughan,  February 26, 2013

In a surprising and refreshing reversal, last year ICE leadership, when confronted with data showing a decline in criminal alien deportations in the wake of the Obama administration's "prosecutorial discretion" policies, decided to allow ICE agents in the field to use conventional, tried-and-true law enforcement techniques to identify and remove more illegal alien criminals, according to memos obtained and released by USA Today — to a point.

The article and memos describe ICE headquarters personnel as panicked and obsessed with finding ways to boost deportation numbers in the spring of 2012, after agency analysts monitoring the numbers warned of significant decreases in ICE arrests following the much-maligned policy changes. According to ICE senior manager David Venturella, aides to ICE Director John Morton met daily to discuss the problem and "seemed to think their careers depended on that number [criminal alien deportations] going up."

It has been established that ICE has cooked the books to enable it to boast of "record" deportations, inflating its numbers by counting certain people arrested by the Border Patrol, and adding in people who were granted "voluntary return", an alternative form of expulsion used mainly in the border areas. See these reports at NumbersUSA.com and Politico for more information. So one might reasonably have expected more attempts at smoke and mirrors rather than actual enforcement, when the numbers dipped again.

Obama deportation numbers a 'trick'
By REP. LAMAR SMITH | 10/25/11 9:26 PM EST

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano last week announced that the Obama administration has deported a record number of illegal immigrants in the past year.

But the Obama administration is using smoke and mirrors to achieve its so-called historic record. Take away the illusion, and the facts show that the administration conjures up its deportation statistics.

The administration appears to have artificially inflated its deportation numbers. It includes voluntary removals in the deportation statistics. But this is not removal because an illegal immigrant is not then subject to penalties for returning to the United States. For example, a single illegal immigrant can show up at the border and be voluntarily returned numerous times in one year — and counted each time as a removal.

How the Obama Administration Inflates Deportation Statistics
Tuesday, February 12, 2013, 9:30 AM EDT

For the last few years, the Obama Administration has claimed that it's deporting a record number of illegal aliens. But, the Administration is adding numbers to its overall deportation statistics that have not been historically included in the total number of annual deportations. Here's a look at how the Obama Administration has artificially inflated the number of deportations.

Obama Administration Inflating Deportation Numbers
Misleading classifications make it look like traditional deportations are up. They’re not

February 10, 2014 6:00 PM
By Andrew Stiles
...
The ICE report noted that of those 368,644 removals, 235,093 (or nearly two-thirds) were carried out on individuals “apprehended while, or shortly after, attempting to illegally enter the United States.” This shows that while the Obama administration continues to deport illegal immigrants in large numbers, most of these removals do not constitute a “deportation” in the conventional sense.

Activists fighting to end deportations argue that, while the people being deported are here illegally, they’ve been living in the country for some time, often with relatives or children of their own — hence the charge that deportations “break up families.” Cases like these exist, but as the ICE data show, they are the minority. For the most part, the Obama administration is “deporting” people it catches in the act of entering the country illegally.

In fact, the Department of Homeland Security’s own guidelines distinguish between “removals” and “returns.” According to DHS, a removal is defined as “the compulsory and confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States based on an order of removal.”

Returns, meanwhile, are defined as “the confirmed movement of an inadmissible or deportable alien out of the United States not based on an order of removal. Most of the voluntary returns are of Mexican nationals who have been apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol and are returned to Mexico.” The primary difference between the two categories is that removals are processed by ICE, while returns are not.

In 2012, Representative Lamar Smith (R., Texas), then chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, discovered that the Obama administration was counting a certain number of “returns” as “removals.” Immigrants apprehended at the border are often times referred to ICE and subsequently processed as a removal. This has the effect of artificially inflated the number of removals, or deportations, by at least 50,000 per year. It is also a reason why what the administration refers to as “border apprehensions” are near historic lows: People are in fact being apprehended at the border, but their cases are grouped as removals in the statistical record.

Smith said in a statement at the time, following a committee review of internal ICE documents:

Since 2011, the Obama administration has included in its year-end deportation statistics the numbers from a Border Patrol program that returns illegal immigrants to Mexico right after they cross the border. It is dishonest to count illegal immigrants apprehended by the Border Patrol along the border as ICE removals. And these “removals” from the Border Patrol program do not subject the illegal immigrant to any penalties or bars for returning to the U.S. This means a single illegal immigrant can show up at the border and be removed numerous times in a single year — and counted each time as a removal. When the numbers from this Border Patrol program are removed from this year’s deportation data, it shows that removals are actually down nearly 20 percent from 2009. Another 40,000 removals are also included in the final deportation count but it is unclear where these removals came from.

Immigration expert Jessica Vaughan made the same argument last year when she testified on behalf of ICE agents suing the Obama administration in federal court. Vaughan analyzed the administration’s enforcement statistics and found that the actual number of illegal-immigrant removals had dropped 40 percent since June 2011.

Mexico confirms confrontation with Border Patrol agents

After issuing denials, Mexican officials admit that two Mexican soldiers — rather than smugglers — were in a standoff with Border Patrol agents in January.

By Richard A. Serrano and Tracy Wilkinson
April 1, 2014, 8:52 p.m.

WASHINGTON — Two heavily armed, camouflaged Mexican soldiers crossed 50 yards inside Arizona in January and drew their guns against U.S. Border Patrol agents who confronted them in a tense standoff, according to documents obtained by The Times/Tribune Washington Bureau.

U.S. officials said it was one of nearly two dozen border incursions by Mexican soldiers into southern Arizona in the last four years.

The Jan. 26 confrontation, described in a Border Patrol foreign military incursion report and confirmed in a separate letter from U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner R. Gil Kerlikowske, ended when the Mexican soldiers retreated back over the border after U.S. agents — who also drew their weapons — summoned assistance. The soldiers, who misidentified themselves to border agents, claimed to be pursuing drug smugglers, documents show.

U.S. officials characterized the incident as one of the most serious incursions in recent years. Though gunfire was averted, the 35-minute confrontation underscored the continuing friction between the U.S. and Mexico when it comes to policing the often chaotic and violent Southwest border. It also raised questions among some U.S. officials about whether the Mexican soldiers were chasing drug smugglers, as they claimed, or protecting cartels as they used drug routes to Arizona.

...

At 9:20 a.m., Olaya said, he "positively identified the two individuals in tan, digital camouflage uniforms, on foot traveling westbound, on the United States side of the International Boundary Fence Line," the report states.

Confronting them, "both parties drew their weapons," the report said. The Mexican soldiers were carrying what was described as "G3 long arms" — an apparent reference to assault-style weapons — and identified themselves as members of the Mexican military's 80th Battalion.

The report said the men identified themselves as Carlos Antique Juarez and Jorge Alberto Hernandez-Morales. But Olaya noted that the name tapes on their uniforms "did not coincide with the names provided. One, in fact, was partially covered." Juarez's name tag said "Diaz"; Hernandez-Morales' tag showed only "Rue."

The soldiers told U.S. agents that they had been pursuing three suspects from Mexico. But when Olaya called for backup from the Border Patrol's Tucson sector, the two Mexicans retreated over the border.

In his letter, Kerlikowske noted that Border Patrol agents at that time had been actively pursuing three suspects in the isolated, rugged terrain, and had recovered three bundles of marijuana. But he said no arrests were made and the three subjects escaped.

DHS document: 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions released in 2013

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials last year released 68,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions, undercutting Democratic claims that President Obama has strictly enforced immigration laws.

An internal Department of Homeland Security document compiling statistics on arrests and deportations in 2013 showed that ICE agents encountered 193,357 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions but issued charging documents for only 125,478. More than 67,800 were released.

The data came from an end-of-year “Weekly Departures and Detention Report.”

The Center for Immigration Studies, a research group that favors stricter enforcement of immigration laws, estimates ICE agents released more than a third of illegal immigrants with criminal records they detained.

“ICE released 68,000 criminal aliens in 2013, or 35 percent of the criminal aliens encountered by officers. The vast majority of these releases occurred because of the Obama administration’s prosecutorial discretion policies,” Jessica Vaughn, director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, wrote in a memo summarizing the DHS document.

ICE classifies illegal immigrants as criminal if they have been convicted of a crime, not including traffic offense, Vaughn noted.
...

The Center for Immigration Studies reports that ICE officials moved to deport 28 percent fewer illegal immigrants from the interior of the country in 2013 than in 2012.

The group obtained the law enforcement records through a lawsuit.

Illegal Aliens and Crime: Statistics not on Obama's side
August 21, 2011

...

"This... [is] more of the 'wait until they kill, rape, beat or molest someone here in America, then we'll deport them' logic. Any victims want to step up to the plate so they can make sure an illegal alien becomes a "felon", making him deportable under the Obama and Napolitano rules? Brilliant strategy.
...

Statistical studies regarding illegal aliens and criminal activity are few and far between. But in a 2007 Government Accountability Office study of a sample population of 55,322 illegal aliens, analysts discovered that:

* They were arrested at least a total of 459,614 times, averaging about 8 arrests per illegal alien. Nearly all had more than one arrest. Thirty-eight percent (about 21,000) had between 2 and 5 arrests, 32 percent (about 18,000) had between 6 and 10 arrests, and 26 percent (about 15,000) had 11 or more arrests. Most of the arrests occurred after 1990.

* They were arrested for a total of about 700,000 criminal offenses, averaging about 13 offenses per illegal alien. One arrest incident may include multiple offenses, a fact that explains why there are nearly one and half times more offenses than arrests.

* Almost all of these illegal aliens were arrested for more than 1 offense. Slightly more than half of the 55,322 illegal aliens had between 2 and 10 offenses. About 45 percent of all offenses were drug or immigration offenses. About 15 percent were property-related offenses such as burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and property damage.
About 12 percent were for violent offenses such as murder, robbery, assault, and sex-related crimes. The balance was for such other offenses as traffic violations, including driving under the influence; fraud--including forgery and counterfeiting; weapons violations; and obstruction of justice.

* Eighty percent of all arrests occurred in three states--California, Texas, and Arizona. Specifically, about 58 percent of all arrests occurred in California, 14 percent in Texas, and 8 percent in Arizona.

Meanwhile, Barbara Coe, an Internet political activist and blogger, on Saturday reported on an FBI crime study that also shows heavy illegal alien involvement in criminal activity:

* 83% of warrants for murder in Phoenix are for illegal aliens.

* 86% of warrants for murder in Albuquerque are for illegal aliens.

* 75% of those on the most wanted list in Los Angeles , Phoenix and Albuquerque are illegal aliens.

* 24.9% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals.

* 40.1% of all inmates in Arizona detention centers are Mexican nationals.

* 48.2% of all inmates in New Mexico detention centers are Mexican nationals.

* 29% (630,000) convicted illegal alien felons fill our state and Federal prisons at a cost of $1.6 billion annually.

* 53% plus of all investigated burglaries reported in California, New Mexico, Nevada, Arizona and Texas are perpetrated by illegal aliens.

* 50% plus of all gang members in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

* 71% plus of all apprehended cars stolen in 2005 in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and California were stolen by Illegal aliens or "transport coyotes."

* 47% of cited/stopped drivers in California have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 47%, 92% are illegal aliens.

* 63% of cited/stopped drivers in Arizona have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 63%, 97% are illegal aliens.

* 66% of cited/stopped drivers in New Mexico have no license, no insurance and no registration for the vehicle. Of that 66% 98% are illegal aliens.

* 380,000 plus "anchor babies" were born in the US to illegal alien parents in just one year, making 380,000 babies automatically US citizens.

Rand Paul: Republicans must move ‘beyond deportation’
By Katie Zezima
April 1 at 11:37 am

Republicans need to move “beyond deportation” in order to make inroads with Latino voters and focus on issues such as the economy and jobs, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Tuesday.

“The bottom line is the Hispanic community, the Latino community, is not going to care until we get beyond this issue,” he said.

Speaking before a symposium on conservatives and Latino media Tuesday morning, Paul said "showing up" helps, but Republicans need to take a different tack and start "saying something that's different from what we've been saying."

Jeb Bush: Many illegal immigrants come out of an ‘act of love’
By Ed O'Keefe
April 6 at 2:44 pm

Former Florida governor Jeb Bush said Sunday that many who illegally come to the United States do so out of an "act of love" for their families and should be treated differently than people who illegally cross U.S. borders or overstay visas.

The comments came during an event marking the 25th anniversary of the presidency of George H. W. Bush at the library and museum that bears the name of the Bush patriarch. The event was closed to reporters, but moderated by Fox News anchor Shannone Bream and portions of the event were later broadcast on the Fox News Channel.

Asked about immigration, Bush started by saying that a bipartisan bill passed by the Senate last year made "a good effort" at proposing ways to ensure that people overstaying visas leave the country.

"A great country ought to know where those folks are and politely ask them to leave," he said, adding later that properly targeting people who overstay visas "would restore people's confidence" in the nation's immigration system.

"There are means by which we can control our border better than we have. And there should be penalties for breaking the law," he added. "But the way I look at this -- and I'm going to say this, and it'll be on tape and so be it. The way I look at this is someone who comes to our country because they couldn’t come legally, they come to our country because their families -- the dad who loved their children -- was worried that their children didn’t have food on the table. And they wanted to make sure their family was intact, and they crossed the border because they had no other means to work to be able to provide for their family. Yes, they broke the law, but it’s not a felony [ Oh but IT IS A FELONY! ie breaking a FEDERAL LAW] . It’s an act of love. It’s an act of commitment to your family. I honestly think that that is a different kind of crime that there should be a price paid, but it shouldn’t rile people up that people are actually coming to this country to provide for their families."

75 percent of illegal aliens failing test for Nevada driver's licenses
Jan 05, 2014

On Friday, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles began issuing so-called 'Drivers' Authorization Cards' to illegal aliens. One need only present a foreign birth certificate, along with a passport or a Matricula Consular card to apply for the permits, which are good for one year.

In May 2013, the measure known as SB303, easily passed the Democrat-led Nevada state legislature, and Republican Governor Brian Sandoval signed the bill into law, extending driving privileges to those here illegally.

Gov. Sandoval told reporters:

Allowing undocumented immigrants to obtain a driver's privilege card will increase the number of drivers on Nevada's roads that are insured and aware of traffic rules and regulations."

However, there is one problem...

Though thousands of illegal aliens have already applied for the 'Drivers' Authorization Cards,' only about one-fourth of them have actually been able to obtain one.

DMV spokesman David Fierro told KOLO 8 News:

We're seeing a pretty high failure rate state-wide. It's about 75 percent"”

So, why are so many failing the test?

The majority of illegal aliens living in Nevada are Mexican nationals, as such, an examination of Mexico’s driving laws may hold the answer...

In six Mexican states as well as in Mexico City, issuing agencies do not administer any sort of test before handing-out driver's licenses. In these locations, one need only pay a fee to obtain a license (about $45 in Mexico City).

Three other states require the applicant to sit through a class, after which all attendees are issued licenses, while many other states give tests consisting of rather easy multiple choice questions.

And what happens when a driver is pulled over in Mexico, say for speeding?
The Mexican travel website travelyucatan.com gives the following advice:

“Speeding is, as a rule, easily taken care of by offering to pay the fine on the spot. If you cannot pay on the spot, one of three things will occur:

· The officer will accept less money.

· The officer will accompany you to an ATM while waiting around the corner.

· The officer will take your driver's license and you'll receive a ticket. You will need to pay the fine to retrieve your driver’s license.

As for DUI laws, only 15 of Mexico’s 32 states have legal driving limits for a driver's Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC).

The lack of standardized testing, the absence of drunk-driving laws and corruption all add up to make Mexico's roads, among the most dangerous in the world. Of course, as Mexican nationals make their way to the U.S., they bring their country's sub-standard driving culture here, along with their cheap labor
.

Nevada has now joined Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Illinois, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington and Utah, which already issue licenses to illegal aliens.

Analysis of ICE data: Amnesty is already in effect for nearly all illegals who are already here
posted at 11:21 am on March 26, 2014 by Allahpundit

A three-page analysis from Jeff Sessions’s office. The good news is, at least ICE is prioritizing correctly. Illegals who’ve committed serious criminal offenses are the first out the door, followed by people caught at the border trying to sneak in and those caught inside the U.S. after having been deported before.

The other 99.92 percent who are already here are, however, apparently here to stay, unless/until a Republican president sends down the order to restart deportations among that group. And given the GOP leadership’s icy panic about further alienating Latino voters, the odds of that are near zero.

Remember this the next time amnesty shills like Luis Gutierrez screech that Obama is the “deporter-in-chief.”

...

By the way, House Democrats are bringing a discharge petition to the floor today to try to force a vote on immigration reform. Remind me again why Republicans are opposed to it. If a de facto amnesty is already in effect and it’s certain that a Republican president won’t undo Obama’s actions for fear of a political backlash, what exactly is the reason to keep fighting formal legalization? The fix is in.

Rand Paul: Amnesty Legislation Could Pass This Year
by Tony Lee 25 Apr 2014

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he believes some type of amnesty legislation could pass this year.

Appearing at Harvard's Institute of Politics, Paul again said that he voted against the Senate's immigration bill because there were not enough visas for construction and farm workers and said he still thought "something could be passed this year" on immigration. Legislation has stalled after Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) blasted the House GOP leadership's "immigration principles" as amnesty.

Paul then told the Harvard students that about 40% of illegal immigrants came to the country legally. Though many of these now illegal immigrants have overstayed their visas, Paul claimed that most of these illegal immigrants simply just got new jobs. He has also previously said that these illegal immigrants simply lost their documents.
...
Earlier this week at the University of Chicago's Institute for Politics, Paul backed work visas for all of the country's illegal immigrants and said they should not be forced to leave the country when applying for citizenship.

Senator Rand Paul Promotes Legalization for Illegal Aliens
By Brenda Walker on January 5, 2014 at 10:26pm

Why can’t anyone wearing a suit understand the connection between permissive immigration (legal and illegal) and American unemployment? Do universities no longer teach supply and demand in Econ 101?

To liberals and their media poodles, there is no contradiction between a segment on a suffering long-unemployed American worker followed by an item about mass legalization with immediate work permits for millions of illegal aliens. (To elite Washington, the jobless American needs more unemployment benefits, and the illegal alien, who does just fine without “papers” as shown by length of residence, needs legalization for jobs.)

Which is exactly what happened on ABC’s “This Week” on January 5:
...

And then Senator Paul said he wants mass legalization for the illegals who can then lawfully snatch American jobs even though the result world be even worse hurt for US citizens. He believes in “very expansive work visas” — not just easy farm picker entrance, but the whole range of employment. He must be on the Mark Zuckerberg list of campaign check recipients, er friends.

The billionaire Facebook founder met with Sen. Paul in a sit-down meeting last spring in Silicon Valley, and it’s likely that increased tech visas were discussed. The anti-sovereignty lobby, which now includes Zuckerberg, has spent $1.5 billion since 2007 to open American borders.

Action plan to defeat the amnesty, H1B-loving RINOS and the immigration deform bill
Posted on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 2:26:02 PM by Javeth

Thought this would be worth a sort-of repost to help us take down these RINO traitors supporting amnesty and the H1B in the immigration deform bill.

1. Launch a general full-scale assault on the amnesty and H1B-pushing turncoat RINO’s like Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan and Loser Lindsey Graham, especially House Reps like Ryan and Senators like Graham who will have to face primaries in 2014, but even turncoats like Rubio who aren't up until 2016. Let’s work to recruit primary challenges for each of them as well as any other pro-amnesty RINO, and encourage them to start revving up immediately, as in today, not waiting until 2014 or later. Graham is especially vulnerable as his popularity is dropping and South Carolina conservatives are already seeking a primary challenger

Immigration Overhaul for 2014: Decidedly Not Dead
By David Eldridge   Posted at 11:15 a.m. on April 25 2014

A bipartisan overhaul of immigration, considered dead in the water just a few weeks ago, is not only alive, according to the House Republican leading efforts to broker a deal — it’s gaining steam.

Diaz-Balart, a major player in ongoing efforts to produce a bill that could balance Republican demands for border security with Democratic calls for legal status for the undocumented, said a solution is closer than ever.

“I think we finally have the policy right,” he said in a phone interview. “I think we have figured out a way to secure, to have border and interior security

The Florida lawmaker’s optimism comes as the immigration overhaul, declared dead by pundits and politicians alike earlier this year, is back in the headlines. Boehner, speaking at a Rotary Club luncheon in Ohio, doubled down on his support for an overhaul and openly mocked those in the Republican Conference who have dismissed immigration proposals as “amnesty.”
/...
The comments came almost a week after the Wall Street Journal reported that Boehner told backers at a fundraiser he is “hell-bent” on passing an overhaul this year, but the speaker’s spokesman has said there is no plan to push immigration in the House until President Barack Obama convinces Republicans he will enforce the nation’s immigration laws.

Boehner: No 'secret conspiracy' to jam through immigration overhaul [ That's the PLan! ]
By Russell Berman - 04/29/14 11:06 AM EDT

Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Tuesday told a private Republican Party meeting that there is no “secret conspiracy” to jam through an immigration overhaul, according to one member in the room.

Boehner used the meeting to walk back his comments last week, which were seen as mocking his own members for lacking the courage to tackle immigration reform that he has advocated but that many conservative in the House Republican conference continue to resist.

Boehner's comments follow a prediction by Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Monday that Congress would pass an immigration reform bill this year.

Scabies-Infected Illegal Immigrants Pass Infestation to US Law Enforcement

Several U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) sector have reportedly contracted scabies from contact with detained illegal immigrants.
...

Sack Taylor, Chairman of the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, told Breitbart Texas that illegal immigrants are often not screened for diseases during processing.

He said, "Even Border Patrol does not screen people for such diseases due to the sheer numbers of people who need to be processed. Immigrants aren't even screened if they're going into a public jail or an immigration detention facility."

Sharp increases in illegal immigration into the U.S. this year has caused processing facilities to become overcrowded--authorities simply do not have time to screen every apprehended illegal immigrant for diseases.

RGV Border Patrol spokesman Daniel Tirado told Breitbart Texas that his sector is overwhelmed with the number of illegal immigrants that currently need to be processed. "We're catching an average of 1,000 per day and our agents are processing them around the clock. Processing takes between one to two hours per individual--it varies case by case," he said.

According to the Associated Press, the RGV sector has arrested more than 130,000 people for immigration violations since October 1--this marks a 67 percent increase from last year.

Well its official ... "Latinos" have "migrated" their way to a majority in California:

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/01/24/in-2014-latinos-will-surpass-whites-as-largest-racialethnic-group-in-california/
In 2014, Latinos will surpass whites as largest racial/ethnic group in California
By Mark Hugo Lopez

According to California Governor Jerry Brown’s new state budget, Latinos are projected to become the largest single racial/ethnic group in the state by March of this year, making up 39% of the state’s population. That will make California only the second state, behind New Mexico, where whites are not the majority and Latinos are the plurality, meaning they are not more than half but they comprise the largest percentage of any group.

California’s demographers also project that in mid-2014, the state’s residents will be 38.8% white non-Hispanic, 13% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 5.8% black non-Hispanic, and less than 1% Native American. But the state’s demographics in 2014 are very different from what they had been. In 2000, California’s 33.9 million residents were 46.6% white non-Hispanic, 32.3% Latino, 11.1% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 6.4% black non-Hispanic and about 1% Native American. In 1990, white non-Hispanics made up more than half (57.4%) of the state’s then 29.7 million residents, while 25.4% of Californians were Latino, 9.2% were Asian American or Pacific Islander, 7.1% were black non-Hispanic and about 1% were Native American.

This 2014 demographic milestone will arrive about eight months later than the state originally expected. Last year, California’s Department of Finance demographers projected that the Latino population would match the non-Hispanic white population in size by mid-2013.
...
When this milestone occurs, it will mark the first time since California became a state in 1850 that Latinos are the Golden State’s single largest racial or ethnic group
...
Texas may be next. According to Pew Research Center tabulations from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, in 2012 there were 10 million Latinos and 11.6 million non-Hispanic whites living in Texas, making up 38.2% and 44.4%, respectively, of the state’s 26.1 million residents. By contrast, in 2000, Latinos made up 31.9% and white non-Hispanics made up 52.4% of the state’s 20.8 million residents. These numbers indicate the Hispanic population is growing more quickly than the non-Hispanic white population—since 2000 Hispanics have made up 63.5% of the Lone Star state’s population growth.

After Texas, though, it’s unlikely any other state will follow any time soon. Florida’s 4.5 million Hispanics—the third largest Hispanic state population—make up just 23.2% of all Floridians, while white non-Hispanics make up 56.8%. In Arizona, Hispanics make up 30.2% of the state’s population, and non-Hispanic whites make up 56.9%. And in Nevada, the state’s 753,000 Hispanics make up 27.3% of the state’s population compared with white non-Hispanics’ 52.8%.

This month, California will become the second state where Latinos are the largest ethnic group

...
This month, the state is projected to reach another milestone, when the state's Hispanics become the largest demographic group  — like New Mexico. But, as The Guardian reports, the political clout of this group in California will lag behind its population numbers.

Of the 53 million Latinos in the US, just 24 million can vote. The rest are a mix of undocumented immigrants, legal immigrants without voting rights and young people who won't be able to vote for a few more years. Also complicating matters, Latinos vote at a rate of about 50 percent, which doesn't compare well with the roughly two-thirds of whites and African Americans who cast ballots. In California, more Hispanics are being elected, but still not at the rates their population would suggest. Tidal wave of ‘Dreamers’ surges across the border, looking for amnesty
By: John Hayward
5/29/2014 08:47 AM

This is the most predictable news in recent history.  Anyone who doesn’t understand what’s happening at the border, as the number of juvenile illegal aliens surges by a thousand percent since 2011, is an absolute fool.  Unfortunately, blinkered fools are at the helm during our immigration debate, so this article from Reuters hems and haws through half a dozen tortured explanations for the astonishing surge of young illegals before arriving at the obvious primary reason: they’re coming because they know the open borders crowd is dying to give them amnesty.  Free citizenship is dangled before people from hellish Central American countries, and they quite logically and understandably come to collect it.

Tens of thousands of children unaccompanied by parents or relatives are flooding across the southern U.S. border illegally, forcing the Obama administration and Congress to grapple with both a humanitarian crisis and a budget dilemma.

An estimated 60,000 such children will pour into the United States this year, according to the administration, up from about 6,000 in 2011. Now, Washington is trying to figure out how to pay for their food, housing and transportation once they are taken into custody.

The flow is expected to grow. The number of unaccompanied, undocumented immigrants who are under 18 will likely double in 2015 to nearly 130,000 and cost U.S. taxpayers $2 billion, up from $868 million this year, according to administration estimates.

The shortage of housing for these children, some as young as 3, has already become so acute that an emergency shelter at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, has been opened and can accommodate 1,000 of them, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in an interview with Reuters.
...
The minors flooding over the border are often teenagers leaving behind poverty or violence in Mexico and other parts of Central America such as Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. They are sometimes seeking to reunite with a parent who is already in the United States, also without documentation.
...

Has there ever been a more obvious case of cause and effect?  The American ruling class fawns over young illegals as “Dreamers,” holding them up as better than native-born and legal citizens in many ways, promising them a full menu of benefits.  The only real debate concerns how sweeping their amnesty will be, how long it will take before they have full access to the panoply of American social programs, and whether it will all arrive via Obama’s executive orders or action by the open-borders crowd in Congress.

We’re going to spend a few billion dollars coping with “unintended consequences” that arrive before the laws are even passed.  Usually you have to pass an ill-considered law before the “unintended consequences” come knocking, but in this case the consequences are already parked in emergency shelters in Texas, costing the American taxpayer $252 apiece per day.

Who can blame them?  The American Ruling Class is handing them a gold-trimmed invitation to illegally cross the border.  The other factors cited by Reuters – horrible economic conditions, political violence and drug wars – are certainly incentives to make the journey, but the sure and certain promise of fabulous rewards for any young person who gets a foot across the border is a magnet that outweighs other factors.

Under Barack Obama, it’s become almost impossible to get deported, even for adult illegals who commit serious additional crimes, contrary to the weird efforts to mythologize Obama as some kind of deportation hardliner. ”Dreamers” have every reason to think crossing the border means they win the immigration game.

It’s sadly amusing to see references to the supposedly improving American economy as factor in increased illegal immigration, seeing as how the first quarter of 2014 was just officially revised downward from near-zero economic growth into an outright contraction.  But even in the grip of endless Obama malaise, the U.S. economy offers a far better future than what the young illegals are fleeing, and one suspects the news about the U.S. economy most of them are getting is closer to White House spin than the unlovely truth.

The American poor and middle class will feel the pain as well.

Murderers, Rapists, Kidnappers: Over 36,000 Criminal Illegal Immigrants Released In 2013

Nearly 200 murderers, over 400 rapists, and 300 kidnappers in the U.S. illegally were released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement while awaiting deportation proceedings, according to a new report from the Center for Immigration Studies.

A total of 36,007 criminal illegal immigrants that were being processed for deportation were freed in 2013. Together, they committed nearly 88,000 crimes, according to the report, published Monday.

“I was astonished at not only the huge number of convicted criminals who were freed from ICE custody last year – an average of almost 100 a day — but also at the large number of very serious crimes they had committed,” said Jessica Vaughan, the director of policy studies at the Center for Immigration Studies, in a statement.

ICE gathered the statistics — which include a breakdown by crime — in response to congressional inquiry following another report released earlier this year by the Center of Immigration Studies.

That report, which was based on internal Department of Homeland Security documents, showed that ICE encountered over 193,000 illegal immigrant convicts. Charging documents were issued for 125,000, and nearly 68,000 were released.

That review also found that 870,000 illegal immigrants had been removed from ICE dockets despite being in defiance of the law. The number of illegal aliens targeted for deportation fell 28 percent between 2012 and 2013, according to the documents.

The 36,007 illegal immigrants reported Monday were freed by ICE during the final disposition of their cases. The 68,000 from the previous report were criminals who encountered ICE agents — often in jails — but were released without undergoing deportation proceedings.

The 36,007 were released by bond, parole, unsupervised release, or on their own recognizance.

More than a dozen California counties have stopped honoring requests from immigration agents to hold potentially deportable inmates beyond the length of their jail terms, saying the practice may expose local sheriffs to liability.

In recent weeks, officials in counties including Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside and San Bernardino have stopped complying with so-called ICE detainers, citing a federal court ruling in April that found an Oregon county liable for damages after it held an inmate beyond her release date so she could be transferred into Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody.

The California counties are among about 100 municipalities across the country that have stopped the practice since the ruling, according to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, an advocacy group that is tracking the issue.

...

"It's very significant because it represents a reduction of the involvement of local police in federal immigration enforcement," said Hiroshi Motomura, an immigration law professor at UCLA. He said the Oregon court ruling had changed the long-running debate over ICE detainers.

"It's not just political anymore," Motomura said. "It's about liability."

...
ICE spokeswoman Virginia Kice said the agency hopes local jurisdictions continue to comply with detainers, which she described as an essential tool in capturing immigrants who pose a public safety risk.
...
Federal statistics show that more than 33,000 people who were identified by immigration authorities while in custody in L.A. County have been deported since August 2009, when the county first signed on to a federal program known as Secure Communities

Under the program, fingerprints of inmates booked by local law enforcement authorities are checked against federal immigration databases. ICE agents use the information to decide whether to ask police to hold the inmates for up to 48 hours to give ICE time to take them into custody.
...

Last fall, advocates won a major victory when Gov. Jerry Brown signed the Trust Act, which instructs local officials to honor ICE detainers only in cases when inmates have been charged with or convicted of a serious offense.

The recent changes go beyond that, with counties deciding to stop honoring ICE detainers altogether.

San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said he made the decision last week after consulting with county attorneys about the Oregon lawsuit.

In that case, an immigrant from Mexico named Maria Miranda Olivares completed a jail sentence for violating a restraining order but was kept behind bars for an additional 19 hours on a federal hold at the request of immigration agents, who eventually took her into custody.

Lawyers for the county argued in a lawsuit brought by Miranda that the sheriff was required to hold her. The judge disagreed, saying ICE detainers are not mandatory and did not demonstrate probable cause for Miranda to be held. The judge said the county was liable for damages.
...
Sheriffs from several counties, including Orange and Kern, say they will not change their policies relating to ICE detainers.

Lt. Jeff Hallock, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department, said officials in his agency reviewed the federal court decision and decided their current policy was appropriate. He said Orange County operates in compliance with the Trust Act.

San Francisco  immigrant coalition welcomes SF’s decision to end all unconstitutional ICE holds
SF now in line with new standard set by scores counties across the US; Due process truly a reality for all

San Francisco – Today, in the wake of a major federal court decision that has spurred more than 80 counties in several states to completely end the unconstitutional practice of holding immigrants in jail for extra time solely for deportation purposes, San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi announced that the county jail would also stop responding to the unconstitutional requests altogether.

The new policy corrects a deficiency in the city’s landmark “Due Process for All ordinance,” upholding basic constitutional protections for all San Franciscans and protecting the city from significant liability.

In California, the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Sonoma, Sacramento, San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside, Santa Cruz, and Monterey, among others, have already adopted parallel practices.

300 more immigrant children shipped to Arizona

NOGALES, Ariz. - Three hundred more unaccompanied migrant children — with more on the way — were transported Saturday from southern Texas into a makeshift way station set up in a Border Patrol detention facility in Nogales, Ariz., as government agencies took additional steps to improve the living conditions there.

By today, more than 1,000 children are expected to fill the detention center as the government continues to deal with the surge of unaccompanied minors apprehended crossing the border illegally in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.

Tony Banegas, Honduras consul to the United States in Arizona, visited the site to find out how many children are from Honduras. He said 764 children were at the facility as of Saturday evening, including 236 from Honduras.
...
Multiple unmarked white passenger buses entered the station early Saturday. They carried what appeared to be young people into the center. Some buses left the station in the afternoon, though it is unclear whether they were carrying only children
,...
The young people inside the buses could be seen smiling, waving their hands and making peace signs.
...
"Now they won't just be giving them burritos," said Chacón, who said 230 of the children are from El Salvador. "They'll be giving them fresher food."
...
The transfer drew criticism from Brewer on Friday, when she issued a statement expressing her concern.

"If the Obama administration put half the effort into securing our border as it has invested to institute this operation, our state and nation would not be facing this situation," she said in the statement.

The situation in Nogales is a continuation of the ongoing immigration issues in Arizona involving undocumented families. The families, most of them from the Central American nations of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, were apprehended by officials in southern Texas. Because of overcrowding there, the families were flown to Arizona, and many families with children were released and taken to Greyhound bus stations in Tucson and Phoenix.

AZ Gov Jan Brewer Disturbed, Outraged Feds Have No Plans to Stop Illegal Immigrant Dump
by Debra Heine  9 Jun 2014

On Friday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer expressed outrage that not only was she not informed by federal officials that the government would be shipping illegal immigrants out of Texas and “dumping” them in her state, it has no plans to stop.

Via Fox News:

Federal officials told Brewer Friday that the practice will continue for the foreseeable future, and this weekend more than 1,000 illegal immigrant children will be “dumped” in Arizona. Adults and family units will also arrive, though Brewer was not told how many, her office said.

Reports first surfaced last week that scores of illegal immigrants in Texas were being flown, bused and then abandoned out of state in Arizona and elsewhere. After learning of the practice, Brewer sent a scathing letter to the president on Monday posing a string of questions about the policy. Brewer said Friday what little she has learned since then has made her even more concerned.

This is a crisis of the federal government’s creation, and the fact that the border remains unsecure – now apparently intentionally – while this operation continues full-steam ahead is deplorable,” she said in a statement.

Incredibly, according to Brewer, the Regime never informed her administration of their plan to bus illegals into her state, nor have they explained it.

The governor is demanding answers from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, and calling on the president to cease and desist.

“I am disturbed and outraged that President Obama’s administration continues to implement this dangerous and inhumane policy, meanwhile neglecting to answer crucial questions our citizens demand and deserve,” she said.

Planes carrying 130 undocumented immigrants land in El Paso

...
The immigrants released in the U.S., including those in El Paso, will have to report to immigration officials within 15 days as directed by federal authorities, the Associated Press reported.

"Immigrants apprehended crossing the border in South Texas will be flown to El Paso so Border Patrol can assist with processing. The vast majority of individuals transferred were family units from Central America and Mexico with children," an El Paso official said.

On Saturday, Maria, who preferred not to give her last name and the names of her two daughters, stopped at the El Paso Greyhound station Downtown.

Maria is a Guatemalan undocumented immigrant. She said she was too nervous to remember dates and details of how and where she was detained.

She added that she was on her way to Tennessee to reunite with her sister.

Maria said that before being released from immigration custody, immigration officials communicated with her sister to arrange travel plans to Tennessee.

"Immigration told me, 'You are free, you can leave,' " Maria said.

She added that she left Guatemala on May 25 and that she was arrested on Thursday. Maria, who said she did not have any money for food for family, said she was found in the desert and that she was still nervous about traveling.

"I'm a little scared," Maria said in Spanish. "Now, we are here without money," she said.

Maria said she is supposed to meet with immigration officials July 8.

Cloward-Piven at the border
By: John Hayward

Back in the Sixties, Marxists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven came up with a great strategy for overloading and collapsing democratic welfare states, paving the way for socialist tyranny.  Basically, the idea was to hit the system with a tidal wave of demands it couldn’t refuse, and couldn’t possibly fulfill.  The Left would then insist that the moral argument for the system remained intact, so the only way to meet those impossible demands was to scrap every vestige of Constitutional restraint and republican self-government, instituting a totalitarian system that in theory would forcibly restructure society to promote “fairness” and give all those government dependents what they “deserve.”  (In practice, of course, what you actually get is an iron-fisted dictatorship that cooks up reports to make itself look good, or simply tells the unhappy citizens to shut up and obey when things deteriorate to the point that no volume of phony reports can paper over the problems – say, when the glorious worker’s paradise of Venezuela runs out of tap water.)

Cloward and Piven were specifically interested in replacing welfare programs with a government-guaranteed annual income for everyone – an idea that still emerges from the more absurd quarters of the Left occasionally – but the basic idea of overloading the republican system and replacing it with centrally-planned tyranny can be applied in many different ways

Take a look at the humanitarian crisis on the southern border, which I wrote about two weeks ago.  It has since burst onto the front pages with some astonishing stories, including leaked photos of illegal alien children – many of them 12 years old and younger – “warehoused” in overcrowded facilities, where there are growing concerns about sanitation and disease.  CBS News in Houston writes of unaccompanied minors sleeping on plastic boards in a Nogales, Arizona warehouse after being flown in from south Texas.  According to some estimates, there are nearly a thousand children in that warehouse now.

There’s nothing complicated about what is happening here.  Barack Obama invited these people to send their children to the United States as refugees.  He’s already made illegal use of executive orders to gut the immigration system; he’s talking about doing it again, and the people of South and Central America can hear him just fine
,...

Young illegals are particularly cherished by the American ruling class, which has dubbed them “Dreamers” and frankly describes them as superior in motivation and potential to native-born young people.
...

Contrary to popular mythology about President Obama being some sort of deportation hard-liner, the truth is that most of his “deportations” were actually catch-and-release scenarios played out at the border – people who were essentially repulsed rather than caught and deported

...

Does the amnesty chorus recoil from this humanitarian crisis in shame and ask, “My God, what have we done?”
...
Here’s GOP Majority Leader Eric Cantor talking with the White House over the weekend about making a deal, from the Daily Caller:

“I have told the president, there are some things we can work on together,” he said in the WTVR interview.

“We can work on the border security bill together, we can work on something like the kids,” he said referring to his proposal to offer some undetermined variety of amnesty to the children and youths of millions of parents who entered the country illegally.
...

So they’re specifically portraying the very same incentives that brought the flood of minors to our border as a point of agreement from which a deal can be built.

...
Soon we’ll have millions of new citizens placing heavy demands on our maternal government, with hundreds of thousands more streaming in every year, eager to claim the prizes that have been offered to them.

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with a national system of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty". Cloward and Piven were a married couple who were both professors at the Columbia University School of Social Work. The strategy was formulated in a May 1966 article in liberal[1] magazine The Nation titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty".[

In papers published in 1971 and 1977, Cloward and Piven argued that mass unrest in the United States, especially between 1964 and 1969, did lead to a massive expansion of welfare rolls, though not to the guaranteed-income program that they had hoped for.[8] Political scientist Robert Albritton disagreed, writing in 1979 that the data did not support this thesis; he offered an alternative explanation for the rise in welfare caseloads.

The Nation later stated that Beck blames the "Cloward-Piven Strategy" for "the financial crisis of 2008, healthcare reform, Obama's election and massive voter fraud" and has resulted in the posting of much violent and threatening rhetoric by users on Beck's website, including death threats against Frances Fox Piven.[15] For her part, Piven vigorously continues to defend the original idea, calling its conservative interpretation "lunatic

The Cloward-Piven Strategy
By Richard Poe
DiscoverTheNetworks.org
2005

First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, the Cloward-Piven Strategy seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Inspired by the August 1965 riots in the black district of Watts in Los Angeles (which erupted after police had used batons to subdue an African American man suspected of drunk driving), Cloward and Piven published an article titled "The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty" in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation. Following its publication, The Nation sold an unprecedented 30,000 reprints. Activists were abuzz over the so-called "crisis strategy" or "Cloward-Piven Strategy," as it came to be called. Many were eager to put it into effect.

In their 1966 article, Cloward and Piven charged that the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor; that by providing a social safety net, the rich doused the fires of rebellion. Poor people can advance only when "the rest of society is afraid of them," Cloward told The New York Times on September 27, 1970. Rather than placating the poor with government hand-outs, wrote Cloward and Piven, activists should work to sabotage and destroy the welfare system; the collapse of the welfare state would ignite a political and financial crisis that would rock the nation; poor people would rise in revolt; only then would "the rest of society" accept their demands.

The key to sparking this rebellion would be to expose the inadequacy of the welfare state. Cloward-Piven's early promoters cited radical organizer Saul Alinsky as their inspiration. "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1971 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one.

...

Their article called for "cadres of aggressive organizers" to use "demonstrations to create a climate of militancy." Intimidated by threats of black violence, politicians would appeal to the federal government for help. Carefully orchestrated media campaigns, carried out by friendly, leftwing journalists, would float the idea of "a federal program of income redistribution," in the form of a guaranteed living income for all -- working and non-working people alike. Local officials would clutch at this idea like drowning men to a lifeline. They would apply pressure on Washington to implement it. With every major city erupting into chaos, Washington would have to act. This was an example of what are commonly called Trojan Horse movements -- mass movements whose outward purpose seems to be providing material help to the downtrodden, but whose real objective is to draft poor people into service as revolutionary foot soldiers; to mobilize poor people en masse to overwhelm government agencies with a flood of demands beyond the capacity of those agencies to meet. The flood of demands was calculated to break the budget, jam the bureaucratic gears into gridlock, and bring the system crashing down. Fear, turmoil, violence and economic collapse would accompany such a breakdown -- providing perfect conditions for fostering radical change. That was the theory.

Cloward and Piven recruited a militant black organizer named George Wiley to lead their new movement. In the summer of 1967, Wiley founded the National Welfare Rights Organization (NWRO). His tactics closely followed the recommendations set out in Cloward and Piven's article. His followers invaded welfare offices across the United States -- often violently -- bullying social workers and loudly demanding every penny to which the law "entitled" them. By 1969, NWRO claimed a dues-paying membership of 22,500 families, with 523 chapters across the nation

WARNING! Obama using Cloward & Piven strategy & Alinsky to destroy America

June 14, 2012
Josh Bernstein - Phoenix Political Buzz Examiner

You read that correctly. What you are about to read is not only frightening, but unfortunately for America also true. This article will present a very strong argument that shows that most of Barack Obama’s decisions regarding the economy have been made intentionally. I will back up my claims with facts and statistics while giving clear and concise examples of each.

Some of you may be familiar with the Cloward and Piven Strategy but most of you have not. If you are a limited government, freedom loving, patriotic American like me than you will want to continue reading. This article may anger, scare, and shake some of you to the very foundation of your core. If it has that effect on you than I did my job. Medicine is not supposed to taste like cherries and bubble gum; it is supposed to be bitter and tough to swallow. The nastier it tastes usually the more effective it is. Consider this your first dose.
...
What is the Cloward and Piven Strategy?

Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two married sociology professors at Columbia University in New York. In 1966, they wrote an article titled, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to end Poverty.” The article was published in the very left leaning publication The Nation.

The article laid out a strategy that called for the overloading of the United States Public Welfare System in order to precipitate a crisis that would be so vast and so sudden that it would completely collapse the financial infrastructure of the economy; thus creating a “guaranteed” income in the hopes of ending poverty. They stated that many Americans who could qualify for welfare related benefits were not receiving them and encouraged them to do so. They called upon the white middle class, the minority workers, and the under the poverty line working poor to enroll in welfare programs in order to bankrupt local and state governments. Their ultimate goal was to replace Capitalism with a complete government centered and controlled economy.

Where did these two radical professors get their influences from?

Saul David Alinsky was a community organizer and writer. Let me repeat that. Saul David Alinsky was a community organizer and writer. Barack Obama was also a community organizer. Saul Alinsky is often referred to as the founder of modern day community organizing and was a major figure on the south side of Chicago. Barack Obama cut his teeth as a community organizer on the south side of Chicago.
...
Barack Obama does not believe in free market Capitalism. A very famous slip of the tongue showed us all who he really is. His “spread the wealth around”comment to Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher also known as “Joe the Plumber” back in 2008 truly revealed his true intentions.

Do you really think that Barack Obama spent all this money to help America or to destroy it? Do you think it is just an accident that almost 47 million people are on food stamps or is it intentional? Do you think the health care bill was passed to help the uninsured or was it to take over 1/5th of the US Economy?

These are the questions that the American people are asking themselves everyday. President Obama has been influenced by some of the most radical figures in American history. Everything about this president is held in secrecy. I can not remember in my lifetime a president that so many people knew so little about? From his college transcripts to his Harvard thesis, nothing has been made public. Who is the person that sits in the Oval Office? How did this complete unknown rise to the most powerful position as leader of the free world? Maybe these questions will never be answered but they are questions that need to be asked.

The survival of our very nation just may hang in the balance.

Senate panel gives $2 billion for child immigrants
Published June 10, 2014
Associated Press

A Senate appropriations panel voted Tuesday to give the Obama administration $2 billion it requested to handle the dramatic increase in child immigrants caught trying to illegally cross the Mexican border without their parents.

The money is more than $1.1 billion more than President Barack Obama initially asked for in his budget proposal for the Health and Human Services division that cares for and houses immigrant children caught alone at the border. It would effectively come from yet unspecified changes in mandatory programs.

The number of children found trying to cross the Mexican border without parents has skyrocketed in recent years....

Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Brian Deese wrote to committee chairwoman Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., to formally ask for more money on May 30.

The HHS budget approved by the committee would also allow the government to move money from other areas if the flow of child immigrants grows beyond the latest estimate of up to 90,000. The full Senate will have the final say on its version of the HHS budget. And the House has not yet acted on the issue.

Most children caught crossing the border alone are from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala and cannot be quickly repatriated.

Under federal law, the children are supposed to be turned over to HHS within 72 hours. Most are then reunited with parents or other relatives already living in the United States.

Because of the massive influx of children this year, the Border Patrol has been forced to house many children in local patrol stations and recently has moved some young immigrants to Nogales, Arizona, where they are being quartered temporarily in a warehouse.

The administration has turned to the Department of Defense to use three military bases in California, Texas and Oklahoma to temporarily house other children once they are transferred to HHS care.

Makes calls with Grover Norquist seeking conservative support

EXCLUSIVE:

Sen. Rand Paul on Wednesday waded deeper into an issue that has proved perilous to some of his GOP colleagues, throwing his political weight behind an establishment lobby effort to get Congress to reform the country’s immigration system this year.

Mr. Paul, a libertarian-leaning Republican from Kentucky and possible 2016 presidential hopeful, participated in a telephone conference call to conservative and business leaders in favor of immigration reform in an effort brokered by anti-tax activist Grover Norquist, The Washington Times has learned.

The business group, the Partnership for a New American Economy, immediately blasted an email Wednesday evening to supporters crowing that Mr. Paul had formally joined its pro-reform effort.

The timing of the call only heightened the potential stakes for Mr. Paul just one day after House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was shockingly ousted from office in the Virginia Republican primary in favor of a little-known college professor.

Tea party activists who whipped up a get-out-the-vote effort for Mr. Cantor’s opponent said they were motivated by the incumbent’s advocacy for immigration reform, actions on Obamacare and vote to raise the nation’s debt ceiling.

Mr. Cantor was the second high-profile Republican to suffer political damage by stepping forward on the immigration issue. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, another potential presidential contender, lost the support of his tea party base when he advocated a plan for immigration that some argued created a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.

On Thursday morning, Mr. Paul’s staff insisted the senator does not support amnesty.

Ex-border agents: Immigrant flood 'orchestrated'

This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a predictable, orchestrated and contrived assault on the compassionate side of Americans by her political leaders that knowingly puts minor illegal alien children at risk for purely political purposes,” said the statement released by the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers.

It occurred to me just now what -- from a legislative (as opposed to rhetorical) point of view -- might perhaps be the best public relations approach to this issue.

Why not pressure Congress to enact a bill that simply applies to the nations bordering the U.S. the same immigration controls they already apply to us?

You could call it the...

"If YOU Don't Get to be OUR Dumping Ground, Then WE Are Under No Obligation to be YOURS" Act.
"Abolish all taxation save that upon land values." -- Henry George

"If our nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill." -- Thomas Edison

Oklahoma Army Base To House Up To 1,200 Illegal Immigrant Children
June 10, 2014 6:13 AM

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — As many as 1,200 children who were detained while trying to enter the U.S. illegally will be taken to Fort Sill this week as federal officials try to find their families or place them with a sponsor, federal and military officials said Monday.

The unaccompanied minors, most of them teenagers from Central America, will start arriving at Fort Sill from Arizona starting Friday, according to Fort Sill and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The children and teens are among the more than 47,000 unaccompanied minors taken into custody at the border since October.

Federal authorities plan to use a holding facility in Nogales, Arizona, as a way station where the children will be vaccinated and checked medically before being sent to Fort Sill and other housing facilities in Texas and California.

Fort Sill said it will temporarily hold between 600 and 1,200 minors in vacant housing at the Army post for up to four months, or as long as directed. DHHS’s Administration for Children and Families will be responsible for their care.
...
The move is part of the Unaccompanied Alien Children program, which provides foster care, group homes and residential treatment centers for minors who try to cross the border without their parents or guardians. It also provides classroom education, health care, vocational training and legal services, according to DHHS’s website.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security last month started flying immigrants in the U.S. illegally to Arizona from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas after the number of immigrants — including more than 48,000 children traveling on their own — overwhelmed the Border Patrol there.

Rick Perry Tells Texas State Police to Boost Border Security
Noah Rayman @noahrayman
  June 19, 2014

Texas can’t afford to wait for Washington to act on this crisis and we will not sit idly by while the safety and security of our citizens are threatened"

Texas Gov. Rick Perry and other state leaders called Wednesday evening for a “surge” in law enforcement along the border, announcing plans to inject $1.3 million more into the effort every week in response to a recent influx of illegal crossings.

...

The intensified security operations will be in effect at least through the end of the year, and will replicate a program last fall targeting human and drug trafficking. Perry and fellow Republicans Lt. Gov. David Dewhust and Texas State House Speaker Joe Straus called for the enhanced security measures in an open letter to the head of the Texas Dept. of Public Safety.

The governor’s statement cited federal numbers detailing a spike in border crossings and blamed the federal government for not doing enough to secure the border.

Until the federal government fulfills its duty, it falls on the State of Texas to address those obligations,” the state leaders said in the joint letter to the director of the Texas DPS

Border Security ‘Surge’ Could Create Ghost Towns Along Rio Grande
June 19, 2014 7:24 AM

McALLEN (KRLD) – The area from the Rio Grande Valley to Laredo has become ‘ground zero’ for the flood illegal immigration into Texas.

In an effort to combat the recent flood of immigrants, Gov. Rick Perry, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst and Speaker Joe Straus authorized the Texas Department of Public Safety to fund a surge at the border with additional personnel at $1.3 milion per week.

DPS did a similar surge last year called “Operation Strong Safety”, which former State Rep. Aaron Pena (R-McAllen) says created a public out-cry among many residents in his area.
...

Last year DPS conducted Operation Strong Safety and achieved astounding results. Crime rates related to drugs, cartels, transnational gangs, and illegal border activity plummeted because of the resources we allocated to stop illegal entry at the border. It’s time to make this type of presence on the border permanent.”

And State Rep. Debbie Riddle (R-Tomball) agrees.

Securing the border is absolutely critical, and never before have we ever had so many people boldly coming across,” says Riddle. “They cross the border, sit down and just wait for border patrol to pick them up.”

The U.S. Customs and Border Patrol says it has apprehended more illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley in the first eight months of the current federal fiscal year (over 160,000) than it did for all of fiscal year 2013 (154,453).

In May 2014 alone, USCBP reported apprehending more than 1,100 illegal immigrants per day in the Rio Grande Valley. This year, like last year, more than half of the individuals apprehended at the Texas-Mexico border by USCBP are from countries other than Mexico. Additionally, 34,000 unaccompanied migrant children have been apprehended in Texas so far this year, with estimates that number will reach 90,000 by the end of the fiscal year.

RAND PAUL UNCORKS ON OBAMA!
Minutemen plan return to border, as senator urges president to act!
June 17, 2014 by Dean James

NEW YORK – Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., says there’s one reason for the flood of illegal aliens, especially children, sweeping over Texas, Arizona and other parts of the American southwest: “What we have now is a lawless border.” And he said there’s one person responsible: Barack Obama.

“President Obama’s executive orders and promises have provided a beacon for more illegal immigrants to get to the United States,” he told WND. “The president bears the brunt of the blame of the current humanitarian crisis of border crossings by thousands of unaccompanied children.”

As WND reported last week, Paul, following a controversial teleconference with the press hosted by the anti-tax activist Grover Norquist, issued a statement that while he favors immigration reform legislation, he considers securing the border to be a first requirement.

“The president needs to secure the border now and stop making statements that have provided motivation for people to send their unaccompanied children to the United States,” he wrote
.

...

Minutemen to the border
William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC, or ALIPAC, has issued a call for Minutemen to gather on the southern border on July 4, in what Gheen is calling “Operation American Shield.”

On the home page of the ALIPAC website, Gheen notes, “Our goal is to force the national media to report on this new crisis being orchestrated by politicians inside of America. We are also going to demand that the governors of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California order their state national guards to the border to block all illegal entries immediately.”

Gheen stressed to WND his Operation American Shield will be modeled after the type of peaceful Minuteman presence on the border successfully staged by ALIPAC and separately by Jim Gilchrist’s Minuteman Project during the Bush administration.

When the Minuteman Project went to the U.S.-Mexico Border in 2005, it was proven that citizen volunteers could secure sections of the border from illegal traffic,” Gheen stressed.

“Furthermore, illegal crossings in all sections of the border slowed and stopped in reaction to the presence of civilian watchdog groups. In Washington, D.C., politicians were forced to focus more attention on border security instead of trying to pass immigration reform amnesty that would permanently destroy America’s borders.”

White House's Valerie Jarrett dines with Rupert Murdoch to plot immigration strategy
By Susan Crabtree  | June 20, 2014 | 11:06 am

President Obama's longtime senior adviser Valerie Jarrett confessed to breaking bread this week with conservative media titan Rupert Murdoch, a new White House frenemy of sorts on immigration reform.
The two dined at the posh Blue Duck Tavern on Tuesday night in Washington's Foggy Bottom, and Jarrett described the evening as “very enjoyable.”

“He is an immigrant himself and he understands from a business perspective how important immigration reform would be to our economy,” she said. “... Sometimes decisions are tough but it's time for Congress to step up and act now — and that's something he said privately to me, and I was heartened to see him express it publicly.”

The next morning, Wall Street Journal readers awoke to an editorial by Murdoch, the paper's owner, calling on Congress to take action and pass comprehensive immigration reform and stressing its benefits to the business community and the economy.

Jarrett followed her private dinner with Murdoch with a breakfast the next day with the Business Roundtable, whose members were in town to press the case for immigration reform on Capitol Hill.

She said Republicans shouldn't be spooked by former Majority Leader Eric Cantor's stunning primary defeat, which Washington quickly attributed to his support for a middle-ground approach to some aspects of immigration reform.

“Having heard from someone like a Rupert Murdoch [on the issue],” Republicans shouldn't feel scared of it, she said.

“The National Guard is uniquely qualified to respond to such humanitarian crises. They are able to help deal with both the needs of these children and families as well as relieve the border patrol to focus on their primary duty of securing our border,” Mr. Boehner said in a letter to Mr. Obama

Federal Officials Reject Design of California Driver’s Licenses for Illegal Immigrants
By IAN LOVETT MAY 6, 2014

LOS ANGELES — California’s plan to offer driver’s licenses to immigrants in the country illegally has hit a major snag, with the Obama administration informing state officials that the licenses they had designed violated federal law, California officials said Tuesday.

The problem:

The proposed design makes the special licenses for immigrants look too much like regular driver’s licenses.

...

Federal law passed after Sept. 11, 2001, requires any state licenses issued to unlawful residents to be easily distinguished from all forms of identification that could be used to board commercial airplanes.

...

We came up with this design, keeping in mind that immigrants continue to be very vulnerable, subject to discrimination, victims of crime and targets of scams,” said State Senator Ricardo Lara, chairman of the California Latino Legislative Caucus. “We don’t want to provide them with licenses that will open them up to further discrimination.”

Officials Hold Public Hearing On Driver’s Licenses For Illegal Immigrants
June 24, 2014 11:40 AM

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A public hearing on regulations involving the pending issuance of California driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants was held Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles.

KNX 1070′s Margaret Carrero reports the hearing is one of two events announced by the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to receive public comments related to the implementation of Assembly Bill 60, the state law that directs DMV to issue driver licenses to undocumented California residents.

AB 60 requires the department to issue an original driver license to an applicant who is unable to submit satisfactory proof of legal presence in the United States. Driver license applicants under AB 60 must meet all other qualifications and must provide satisfactory proof of identity and California residency, according to DMV officials.
...
About 1.5 million [really more like 3-5 million] unauthorized immigrants statewide will be eligible to become licensed and insured when the law comes into effect on January 1, 2015.
...
Among the proposals being considered includes allowing birth certificates or a Mexican consular card as a sole means of proving identity, according to the Orange County Register
...
After the two public hearings, consideration of the public comment and any necessary revisions, DMV will deliver the proposed final regulations for review and approval.

Of course the reason it's "the children" coming in droves is that they are the very people that are not easily sent back ,,, as we have seen , the "laws" have been written to safely care for them  until they would be return to there parents ... in a normal world ,,, but when you are dealing with extremists, children are just another pawn in the game ...

So, When is America going to set up refugee camps [ FEMA camps ] for the Central Americans?  ( which they already have in mothballs all over )

This is funny, Je Johnson won't say how many have already arrived or what they'll do to stop the invasion ... then heads out to the border to do nothing ,,,

Oh soon there will be another executive order from little g-god Obama declaring a new form of dream amnesty,,,

[Watch] Obnoxious Arrogance, DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson in Congressional Testimony
Posted on 24 June, 2014 by Rick Wells

Hearings into the child invasion at the southern border brought a glimpse into the true nature of the Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson. His façade of a reasonable and thoughtful albeit obstructionist and subversive individual was abandoned in this exchange with Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL).

The question of whether these are exigent circumstances was asked by Rep Rogers in regards to the current escalation in onslaught of illegal alien children being experiences at the border. Exigent circumstances are defined as “Those circumstances that would cause a reasonable person to believe that prompt action was necessary to prevent physical harm to the officers or other persons, the destruction of relevant evidence, the escape of a suspect, or some other consequence improperly frustrating legitimate law enforcement efforts.”

Johnson said he felt that these were exigent circumstances. Rogers questioned him as to whether Obama should issue an executive order in view of the exigent circumstances to deal with the crisis.

DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson visits Nogales facility with Gov. Jan Brewer
Posted: Jun 25, 2014 5:54 AM PDT

NOGALES, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson took about an hour to tour the Nogales Processing Center where about 900 Central American children are being held.

Both said they talked to some of the children about their long and dangerous journey.

Brewer said some told her it took two weeks and a thousand miles.

Some came by train, others were transported by paid coyotes.

"It's very difficult to look into their eyes and see all the hurt and trauma they've been through," she says. "As a mother it breaks my heart to see them in the condition they're in."

The Governor placed the blame on the children's parents who put them on a "dangerous journey" and the administration for failure to "secure the border."

Secretary Johnson reiterated his call for the parents not to send their children into harms way.

"There is no permiso, there is no free pass," he said.

The families have been under the misguided perception that once they landed on United State soil they would be free, he said.

He told reporters the children are subject to deportation but that the US government is also "in discussions right now with the government's of Central America to stem the tide."

He says there will be an end to this but could not predict when.

Governor Brewer told the media the College Place on Drachman and Oracle is being readied for 280 of the children.
...
The hope is that Secretary Johnson will answer more questions about what his plan of action will be for Arizona.  In a statement released yesterday he outlined the 14 steps his department is doing in response to the problem.

One is being in contact with senior government officials from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico to address shared border security interest and the underlying conditions in Central America that are promoting the large number of children leaving.
...
Another solution under consideration is to set up a facility in New Mexico to temporarily house adults who come to the U.S. with their children.

An exigent circumstance, in the criminal procedure law of the United States, allows law enforcement, under certain circumstances, to enter a structure without a search warrant or, if they have a "knock and announce" warrant, without knocking and waiting for refusal. It must be a situation where people are in imminent danger, evidence faces imminent destruction, or a suspect's imminent escape.

In the criminal procedure context, exigent circumstance means the following:

An emergency situation requiring swift action to prevent imminent danger to life or serious damage to property, or to forestall the imminent escape of a suspect, or destruction of evidence. There is no ready litmus test for determining whether such circumstances exist, and in each case the extraordinary situation must be measured by the facts known by officials

Hi geo.  I kicked around a tad and found that many foreign country's have a process to enter let alone get citizenship.
South America, try and get a permanent Visa, after a federal check including your home turf legal background(everything),  Interpol , health exams, and tons of bureaucracy ya may have a chance, in many cases a congressional approval is required.
Brasil includes all the above, the country most folks believe all one needs to do is show up, it isn't.

Petraeus: NAFTA Has Replaced America

“After America Comes North America,” Gen. Petraeus [Bilderberger] Boasts

Former general and CIA chief David Petraeus (shown), a key figure in the globalist Council on Foreign Relations and the shadowy Bilderberg network, boasted at a recent conference that the United States of America is set to be merged into the continental regime being erected under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Speaking at the Margaret Thatcher Conference on Liberty last week in London, the ex-commander of U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq essentially celebrated the end of U.S. independence — and by extension, the demise of the Constitution.

After America comes North America,” Petraeus said confidently in answering the question about what comes after the United States, the theme of the panel discussion. “Are we on the threshold of the North American decade, question mark? I threw that away — threw away the question mark — and boldly proclaimed the coming North American decade, says the title now.”

He also boasted about how the three economies have been put “together” over the last 20 years as part of the “implementation” of the North American Free Trade Act.

 * Even if sentenced to death, no Roman citizen could be sentenced to die at the cross. (Despite being found guilty of the same crime St. Paul, was beheaded. St. Peter on the other hand, not being a Roman citizen, was crucified.).
 * Roman citizenship was required in order to join the Roman legions, but this was sometimes ignored.

The granting of citizenship to the conquered and the allies was the final step of Romanization which was one of the most effective political tools and (at that point in history) original political ideas (perhaps one of the most important reasons for the success of Rome).

* The idea was to assimilate, to turn a defeated and potentially rebelious enemy (or his sons) into a Roman citizen. Instead having to wait for the unavoidable revolt of a conquered people (a tribe or a city-state) like Sparta and the conquered Helots, Rome made the "known" (conquered) world roman.

* The Social War (in which the Italian allies revolted against Rome) only ended gradually, as Rome granted citizenship to all Italian freemen (with the exception of Gallia Cisalpina)

* After 212 AD, all freemen in the Empire were granted citizenship by a imperial edict (the Constitutio Antoniniana) of Emperor Caracalla.

Status of Mexican Trucks in the United States: Frequently Asked Questions
John Frittelli
Specialist in Transportation Policy
January 3, 2014

Introduction

In the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which took effect in January 1994, the
United States and Mexico agreed to allow each other’s trucks to carry goods across the border to
make deliveries anywhere inside their respective countries. This provision was controversial in
the United States, and a trial program begun in September 2007 by the George W. Bush
Administration was defunded by Congress in March 2009. Mexico imposed tariffs on certain U.S.
goods in response to the program’s termination, as permitted by NAFTA. After bilateral
negotiations, the Obama Administration announced a new pilot program to allow long-haul
Mexican trucks into the United States in April 2011.1 The first Mexican truck with long-haul
operating authority crossed the border in October 2011.
This report answers frequently asked questions about the pilot program permitting Mexican
trucks into the United States.

How Many Mexican Trucks Are Participating in the Pilot Program?

As of December 2013, there were 14 Mexico-domiciled carriers with active long-haul operating
authority in the pilot program; 9 of these had been granted permanent operating authority, and 5
had provisional operating authority, although just 2 Mexican carriers accounted for most of the
border crossing activity.2 Two additional carriers were in the process of applying for long-haul
operating authority.3 The 14 approved carriers have used about 45 trucks to make nearly 10,000
border crossings since October 2011.

To put this number in context, on average about 14,000 trucks cross the border from Mexico each day.4

Most (83%) of the U.S. mileage by Mexican trucks in the long-haul pilot has been in the four
U.S. border states, and overwhelmingly in just Texas and California
. Only 17% of the mileage has
been beyond the border states.5 Florida, Louisiana, and Arkansas are the three non-border states
where Mexican trucks have accumulated the most mileage.

Buses With Migrant Families Rerouted From Murrieta, California Protest

[ VIDEO ]
families were rerouted Tuesday to a facility in San Diego after American flag-waving protesters blocked the group from reaching a suburban processing center.

The standoff in Murrieta came after Mayor Alan Long urged residents to complain to elected officials about the plan to transfer the Central American migrants to California to ease overcrowding of facilities along the Texas-Mexico border.

Many protesters held U.S. flags, while others held signs reading "stop illegal immigration," and "illegals out!"

"We can't start taking care of others if we can't take care of our own," protester Nancy Greyson, 60, of Murrieta, told the Desert Sun newspaper.

Many of the immigrants were detained while fleeing violence and extortion from gangs in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.

[ SO HOW DO THEY NKNOW THAT? FACT CHECK THAT! ]

After the buses were blocked, federal authorities rerouted the vehicles to a freeway and then to a customs and border facility in San Diego within view of the Mexico border.

The three buses were trailed by a half-dozen news crews during the two-hour trip. People near the San Diego facility were surprised by the caravan.

Protesters Block First Wave Of Detained Immigrants In Murrieta

July 1, 2014 11:19 PM

MURRIETA (CBSLA.com) — Dozens of protesters blocked the road Tuesday so buses full of undocumented immigrants couldn’t make their way to a U.S. Border Patrol Station in Murrieta.

Approximately 140 people were flown into San Diego from Texas at 11 a.m. and bused to Murrieta around 2:20 p.m., with similar groups expected to arrive every three days.

The situation was tense as protesters unleashed their fury over immigration, with one man spitting into the face of a man who opposed him.

“They have come so far, they’ve worked harder than you’ve ever worked, they’ve worked harder than you’ve ever worked in your whole life!” one woman screamed.

Another woman told CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Tom Wait: “We have enough issues here: we have our own veterans, we have homeless mothers, we have a lot of people living on the streets of L.A. We need to take care of these people first.”

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement buses, impeded by protesters, eventually left Murrieta and headed south to a detention facility in San Ysidro.

The immigrants are being redirected to California because Texas border officials are overwhelmed by a recent surge in illegal border crossings.

Murrieta was one of the cities chosen to help process the immigrants because it has a federal border protection facility.
...

Murrieta held a town hall meeting Monday where Mayor Alan Long assured concerned residents that the immigrants have no criminal backgrounds and that health screenings will be done. Some of them will likely be detained and could be outfitted with GPS tethers, CBS2′s Tom Wait learned.

Still, Long urged residents in the suburb of 107,000 people some 60 miles north of San Diego to call their elected officials and voice opposition to the plan.

“What we’ve been told is that most of these immigrants are families. These are mothers and young children, or fathers and young children,” Long said. “What will happen is once they’re processed by the border patrol they’ll be released to ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement] agents who make sure they get to their destination or transportation hubs.”

The fight over the crisis continues in Washington, D.C., where President Barack Obama is looking at ways to secure the border by executive action.

He says he can no longer wait for congressional immigration reform, which has outraged Republican lawmakers as they contend the president is overstepping his authority.

There is an TB outbreak at a Sacramento school, but undocumented - unscreened immigrants have nothing to do with it ... remember that!

http://www.alipac.us/illegal-immigration-leads-tuberculosis-outbreak-sacramento-high-school-3110/
ALIPAC NOTE: 100 years ago immigrants were screened for TB at places like Ellis Island.

Today's illegal immigrants are streaming across our borders unchecked and then being smuggled into our towns by our own government! Since TB was virtually eradicated in the United States by the 1990's, we are seeing a resurgence due to rampant illegal immigration.

Tuberculosis outbreak at Sacramento high school

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A California high school is at the center of a tuberculosis outbreak linked to an infectious student who tested positive for active TB in February, county health officials said Wednesday.

Four more students at Grant Union High School in Sacramento have contracted active TB. Three related tuberculosis cases are considered an outbreak, Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services spokeswoman Laura McCasland said.

Four relatives and friends of the student who initially tested positive have also contracted active TB — bringing the total to nine known cases.

Symptoms of active TB can include a persistent cough and fever. Active TB is contagious if it's in the lungs and accompanied by a cough, said Olivia Kasirye, the county's public health officer.

The four additional students — two of whom have TB in their lymph nodes — are not infectious, she said.

Kasirye said such an outbreak was not uncommon. The county sees about 90 active TB cases a year, though most of those are adults. She noted that no additional people have been found to be contagious.
"In a way, they are wrapping this up," McCasland said.

The four additional students are receiving treatment.

In all, a little more than 450 students and staff have been tested. They were considered at high risk because they used the same classrooms or adjacent classrooms as the student who was infectious, health officials said.

Of those, 116 have tested positive for TB, though the vast majority have been confirmed to be latent TB, which is dormant and doesn't produce symptoms. An additional thirty of the students in that group still need further testing to determine whether they have active TB, McCasland said.
