Ahmadinejad has just blamed the US and Zionists for 9/11 at the UN conference.  US delegates walk out.

Bwahahah Ahmdinejad is a CFR British Jew Agent!!! Just like Hitler?

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed to have Jewish past
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's vitriolic attacks on the Jewish world hide an astonishing secret, evidence uncovered by The Daily Telegraph shows.

A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots. A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian – a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver.

Funny, you don't look Jewish?

The short note scrawled on the card suggests his family changed its name to Ahmadinejad when they converted to embrace Islam after his birth. The Sabourjians traditionally hail from Aradan, Mr Ahmadinejad's birthplace, and the name derives from "weaver of the Sabour", the name for the Jewish Tallit shawl in Persia. The name is even on the list of reserved names for Iranian Jews compiled by Iran's Ministry of the Interior. Experts last night suggested Mr Ahmadinejad's track record for hate-filled attacks on Jews could be an overcompensation to hide his past. Ali Nourizadeh, of the Centre for Arab and Iranian Studies, said: "This aspect of Mr Ahmadinejad's background explains a lot about him. "Every family that converts into a different religion takes a new identity by condemning their old faith. "By making anti-Israeli statements he is trying to shed any suspicions about his Jewish connections. He feels vulnerable in a radical Shia society."A London-based expert on Iranian Jewry said that "jian" ending to the name specifically showed the family had been practising Jews. "He has changed his name for religious reasons, or at least his parents had," said the Iranian-born Jew living in London. "Sabourjian is well known Jewish name in Iran."

CFR/Brzezinski Success: Sanctions make Jewish Puppet Achmadinijad more powerful

Ahmadinejad "more determined" in face of world pressure
http://rawstory.com/news/afp/Ahmadinejad_more_determined_in_face_04032010.html
Published: Saturday April 3, 2010

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that world pressure on Iran, including talk of new sanctions, makes the Islamic republic more determined than ever to pursue its nuclear programme. His comments came after US President Barack Obama vowed to ratchet up global pressure on Tehran to abandon its atomic programme which he said indicated that Tehran wanted to have weapons capability. "You (world powers) can cut your own throat, jump up or down, issue statements and declarations and pass resolutions ... but don't think you can stop the progress and building of the Iranian nation," Ahmadinejad said. "The more overt your animosity towards us, the more determined the Iranian nation will be to go forward," the hardline president said in a speech broadcast live on state television. Ahmadinejad also reiterated that Iran had started making its own nuclear fuel for a Tehran research reactor after world powers "did not" give the material to his country. "Based on the law which you wrote in the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) charter, you were supposed to give the fuel for the Tehran reactor, but you did not," he said. "We said we will do it ourselves and they made fun, but our experts did it."

The controversy over providing fuel for the internationally supervised Tehran reactor has emerged as the latest point of confrontation between the world powers and Iran. Under a UN-drafted deal in October 2009, world powers proposed giving the fuel to Iran in return for its stockpiles of low-enriched uranium (LEU). But Tehran insisted it would hand over its LEU only when it receives the nuclear fuel, and with the exchange taking place inside the country, a condition opposed by the world powers. Since then Washington has led global pressure on Tehran for a fourth round of UN sanctions, with only Beijing -- one of the five veto-wielding members of the UN Security Council -- still opposing the move. On Friday, Obama said global pressure on Tehran was gathering pace and warned of "huge destabilising effects in the region" if Iran acquires the capacity to make nuclear weapons. "All the evidence indicates that the Iranians are trying to develop the capacity to develop nuclear weapons," Obama told CBS. Iran has fiercely denied allegations that it is seeking to develop an atomic bomb, saying its contested nuclear programme is purely for peaceful purposes to meet the energy needs of a fast growing population. On Friday, Obama also urged his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao to join forces to stop Iran's atomic programme, as Beijing which has emerged as Tehran main economic partner continues to press for a diplomatic solution to the crisis. Iran's chief nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, who was in China on Friday said Beijing was heeding Tehran's calls for support. "We jointly emphasized during our talks that these sanctions tools have lost their effectiveness," Jalili said after meeting Chinese officials including Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi. But Jalili's remarks that he had won China's backing ran counter to a growing quiet confidence among US officials that Beijing was gradually being swayed over to its side. The US ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, have both said this week that Beijing was ready to join in the Security Council talks. Obama, meanwhile, also stressed he had reached out to Iran after assuming office last year to give it the option of rejoining the international community, but it had only isolated itself further. Ahmadinejad, however, said Obama had failed to make any change despite his early promises. "In reality nothing has changed ... The pressures are still on. The sanctions are still on," he said. Obama initiated a series of diplomatic overtures soon after he took office in January 2009, but arch-foes Washington and Tehran have still failed to break their decades-old diplomatic freeze.

Ahmadinejad: Sanctions aid, rather than hurt, Iran
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100403/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iran
By ALI AKBAR DAREINI, Associated Press writer – 10 mins ago

TEHRAN, Iran – Faced with the prospect of new sanctions because of Iran's nuclear defiance, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Saturday that new penalties would only strengthen the country's technological progress by encouraging it to become more self-sufficient. In a speech, Ahmadinejad also rejected President Barack Obama's offers of engagement, saying "three or four beautiful words" don't mean U.S. policies have changed under his administration. "They say they have extended a hand to Iran, but the Iranian government and nation declined to welcome that," he said. "What kind of hand did you extend towards the Iranian nation? What has changed? Did you lift sanctions? Did you stop propaganda? Did you reduce the pressure?" White House spokesman Bill Burton said Saturday the U.S. administration would have no comment on the Iranian president's remarks. Obama said Thursday that six world powers dealing with Iran's nuclear program will develop a package of serious new punitive measures over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment in coming weeks. China has not confirmed U.S. reports that it has dropped its opposition to possible new U.N. sanctions against Iran. China has veto power in the U.N. Security Council and its support would be key to passing a resolution against Iran. Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, is in China in the hopes of winning assurances from Beijing that it will oppose sanctions. The U.S. and some of its allies have accused Iran of seeking to use its civilian nuclear program as a cover to develop nuclear weapons. Iran has denied the charge, saying its nuclear program is geared towards generating electricity, not bombs. Three rounds of earlier United Nations sanctions have already been imposed. Iran's economy has suffered over the past year, and parliament approved a cut in subsidies that keep fuel prices low, a further blow to Iranians already experiencing high unemployment and inflation. Nevertheless, Ahmadinejad said U.S. steps to pressure Iran have backfired and instead have isolated Washington in the eyes of the world. "Don't imagine that you can stop Iran's progress," Ahmadinejad said. "The more you reveal your animosity, the more it will increase our people's motivation to double efforts for construction and progress of Iran." The U.N. Security Council could consider new punishments on Iran, including increasing financial squeezes on the extensive holdings of Iran's Revolutionary Guard. The U.S. has also said it could seek to penalize companies that sell fuel to the oil-rich Islamic republic, which imports about 40 percent of the fuel it needs because its refineries cannot keep pace. Iran has periodically boasted of what it says is growing self-sufficiency in technological sectors like its satellite program and other scientific work. Seeking to demonstrate that point, Ahmadinejad's speech on Saturday was to workers at the inauguration of an industrial project in southern Iran. He said Iran need not be bothered by the prospect of new sanctions. "They (Americans) said they want to impose fuel sanctions. ... They don't understand that they work in our favor. They imagine we will get upset should they refuse to sell gasoline to us. ... No, we immediately tell experts to produce it," he said. Ahmadinejad said the U.S. has failed to isolate Iran. He said the fact that Obama's recent visit to Afghanistan was not announced beforehand for security reasons was evidence of America's own isolation.  "First, let's see who is isolated. We think those who can't show up publicly among the people and directly address them are isolated, those who fear nations. Gentlemen go to a country where they have 60,000 troops without any prior announcement. Who is isolated?" Ahmadinejad said.  The Iranian president noted that his own trip to Afghanistan was announced in advance and said he was warmly received.  "You are isolated yourself, but you are hotheaded and don't understand it," Ahmadinejad said.

Ahmadinejad Stresses Need for New World Order

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday called for cooperation among world states to forge a new world order.

"The conditions we are experiencing today need planning for new orders in the world and (our) cooperation and co-thinking for organizing the conditions," Ahmadinejad told reporters before departing for Istanbul, Turkey to take part in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Reminding that major world and Asian players will take part in the Istanbul conference, the Iranian president underlined that "Iran, too, will have active participation in drafting the final statement, taking stances as well as mutual consultations" with participants in the conference.

Ahmadinejad said that his visit will take place at the invitation of Turkish President Abdullah Gul, and pointed out that he is slated to meet other foreign officials during the visit.

Ahmadinejad further confirmed his subsequent trip to Tajikistan, saying the visit will come in response to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon's visit to Tehran in March 2010.

The Iranian president mentioned that he will take part in the 'Water for Life' international conference in Tajikistan.

The CICA Conference is underway in Istanbul on June 4-10.

Turkey will take over the rotating term presidency of the CICA from Kazakhstan during the conference.

Last year, Gul accepted Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's offer to take the presidency of the body.

CICA is an inter-governmental security forum in Asia which was initiated by Kazakhstan's then president in 1992 and currently has 18 member states, including Iran, Russia, China, South Korea and Turkey.

Most people think the guy is a bonafide nutcase, and that is exactly how they want him potrayed, so they can have people like him make light of the truth through their "insanity". What better way to discredit the claims of the US being responsible than to have a nutjob running around screaming the US and Jews did it? Agent indeed!

OMFG, like we cannot see their bullshit from a mile away..

Ahmadinejad is CFR!

He is a puppet to be used to help demonize anyone against zionazis and now he has been assigned the task of associating himself with 911 truth.

Soon we will get a report that Charles Manson questions the official 911 story.

How convenient that the NY Times runs this but denies AE911TRUTH, the Jersey Widows, Peter Scott Dale, Jesse Ventura, Bob Baer, Anthony Shaffer, etc.

Ahmadinejad calls for new world order

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for a new world order based on new ideas, saying the era of tyranny has come to a dead-end.

In an exclusive interview with Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Ahmadinejad noted that it is time to propose new ideologies for running the world.

He said the time of tyrannical regimes is over and arrogant powers can no longer proceed with business as usual since their capitalism-based economies are collapsing.

"Tyrannical regimes will not last forever and they will reach their end sooner or later," Ahmadinejad stated.

The president said people across the globe are fed up with the slogans of the arrogant powers.

He cited the widespread protests in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan, where he believes the major powers' policies are failing.

"Any civilization or empire that wants to impose its ideas on others through the use of force will reach its end in the near future," he said.

Iran can present new ideas and views, which the world will need in the future, he added.

The Iranian president stated that Israel's defeat in its Gaza offensive was the beginning of a new order in the world. "Now they are in disarray and new developments are unfolding."

Israel's 23-day offensive against Gaza, which ended on January 18, was condemned by the international community and caused divisions among major Israeli political parties.

From 2006 when the Iran/Contra CFR Dope, Inc. Puppet got his marching orders...

AHMADINEJAD'S STRANGE MEETING WITH THE CFR, NEW WORLD ORDER ELITES
http://thetomoreport.blogspot.com/2006/10/ahmadinejads-strange-meeting-with-cfr.html
Monday, October 09, 2006

It wasn't very widely reported, or publicized, but Iran's madman "president" Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had quite an interesting meeting after his blistering speech at the U.N. a few weeks ago.

The meeting was with the Council on Foreign Relations. As many of you are aware, the CFR, is made up of intellectual, business, and political elites. To some, this is just a benign "think-tank" which analyzes and proposes foreign policy initiatives to the government. To others, the CFR is much more. It is the political and policy making arm of the "New World Order". It is the group which has masterminded the push for the North American Union, the group which believes our Constitution is "outdated", and the group with the power to change the structure of America and the world as we know it.
The CFR is the promotional arm of the Ruling Elite in the United States of America. Most influential politicians, academics and media personalities are members, and it uses its influence to infiltrate the New World Order into American life. Its' "experts" write scholarly pieces to be used in decision making, the academics expound on the wisdom of a united world, and the media members disseminate the message.

To understand how the most influential people in America came to be members of an organization working purposefully for the overthrow of the Constitution and American sovereignty, we have to go back at least to the early 1900's, though the story begins much earlier (depending on your viewpoint and beliefs).

That a ruling power elite does indeed control the U.S. government behind the scenes has been attested to by many americans in a position to know. Felix Frankfurter, Justice of the Supreme Court (1939-1962), said: "The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise power from behind the scenes." In a letter to an associate dated November 21, 1933, President Franklin Roosevelt wrote, "The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson." February 23, 1954.

To better understand this mysterious group, I suggest you do some research into this group and its interlocking network of elites... Here are some links to get you started:
Bo Adelmann, 1986. "The Federal Reserve System." The New American, October 17.
Gary Allen, 1976. The Rockefeller File. Seal Beach, CA: '76 Press.

Antony C. Sutton, 1975. Wall Street and FDR. New Rochelle, New York: Arlington House.
George Sylvester Viereck, 1932. The Strangest Friendship in History. New York: Liveright.

So ... back to the mad mullah of Iran... Why did this influential group choose to meet with him of all people (considering many of the members of the CFR are Jews)? On the other hand, why did he choose to meet with them? What was the purpose? Did Ahmedinejad fully understand with whom his meeting was with?

Let's look at the meeting from two very different perspectives. First, here is a link to National Interest Online's reporting of the meeting where they interview CFR member, Maurice R. Greenberg on his impressions of the Iranian "president"... some exerpts...
Q: Was it your sense that he truly doubts whether the Holocaust occurred or was he grandstanding? He was presumably playing just to that audience because there were no television cameras there.

MRG: No, no, but there were reporters there. Look, he has said this on many occasions, not just last evening. And it's offensive. I would say that this man, he's not only out of touch, he's very clever and I worry about what he's capable of doing. And I do believe that the administration's, and the president's in particular, view of Iran and the danger that it presents to the world, particularly our country and Israel, is not only real, it reflects a real and present danger. I do not think that we can take lightly what he stands for and is capable of, if he came into possession of nuclear weapons.

[...]

MRG: I think it's almost impossible to do business with him as long as he has those views. He says: "Why should the Palestinians suffer even if there was a Holocaust? What does one have to do with the other?" I mean, they have nothing to do with each other. We don't link them together. And we discussed that. They're not linked.

He thinks the Palestinians should be permitted to return, that's never going to happen. If the Palestinians returned to Israel, they'd swamp the country and there wouldn't be an Israel. But he doesn't want an Israel.

Q: It sounds like he didn't make any effort to try to reach out…

MRG: No, no. There was no effort to reach out. He's offensive. He's smug. He's a danger.

So, we can see from this, that the message that the CFR is sending is quite clear: We gave this thug a chance. He is exactly what the Administration describes.. A madman who cannot be reasoned with.

Now, let's look at the meeting from Ahmedinejad's perspective... from his "blog"....
Q: Mr. President, I have a narrow question that I ask you, I am only speaking for myself, I could make major distinctions between military soldiers and civilians, killed in war, and millions that were killed purposely, so that would be a genocide, so that would be my first response.

A: Yes, there is certainly a distinction, but the Palestinian nation is systematically being massacred. Is their blood different from the blood of those? Do we have two types of human beings. I haven't heard of friends having made any remarks concerning the Palestinians, killed.

Q: Mr. President. I don%q%t think you answered the question, but you refused to have the holocaust confirmed during the war, I saw with my own eyes.

A: How old are you?

Q: I am 81.

A: You were there and you survived! Congratulations

OK... that's only one exerpt, and not a very representative one at that. Read the whole thing. Mahmoud makes the case over and over again that the world is with HIM and it is only the U.S. which is frightened of Iran becoming a nuclear power. Also, even with the above exchange, he denies the holocaust repeatedly and hints Palestinians should be allowed to "return" to Israeli-"occupied" land (ie overrun Israel such that it no longer exists).

OK. So, the CFR thinks Ahmedinejad is a madman. Ahmedinejad thinks that the CFR is an extension of the Bush administration. It seems to me that the CFR has given its "approval" to Bush for a war on Iran... if it comes to that. The CFR sees things from a global perspective. If they see an impediment in their march toward a one-world order, they will crush it. It seems that they now see that Iran's current regime is a threat to this plan.

The other perspective here, is that Ahmedinejad is a puppet in a grand play, whose ending has been written long ago. It could be that the CFR is using and positioning Ahmedinejad as a threat, in order to bring about their vision of a NWO. The Iran threat could be used as the catalyst which pushes the world closer and closer one-world government. "Crises precipitate change".

Not to derail the thread, but it seems the "Ahmedinejad is Jewish" idea may be false:

Ahmadinejad has no Jewish roots

Professor David Yeroshalmi, author of The Jews of Iran in the 19th century  and an expert on Iranian Jewish communities, disputes the validity of this argument. "There is no such meaning for the word 'sabour' in any of the Persian Jewish dialects, nor does it mean Jewish prayer shawl in Persian. Also, the name Sabourjian is not a well-known Jewish name," he stated in a recent interview.

Jews love to discredit/sabotage their opponents by covertly planting stories about them being a secret Jew. They said Hitler was a Jew too. It's all BS to discredit the opponents of World Jewry amongst their followers.

Although the Israeli professor says it is not true, the issue is very far from resolved. Anyone in Iran talking about it is arrested so obviously open and honest debate on the subject within the Persian Empiire is near impossible.

Professor Yeroshalmi obviously is less than a non-biased observer.

The fact is that he is CFR, he is a part of a secular New World Order movement, he is connected to the Iran/Contra work for the British Empire, and his timely rhetoric has the characteristics of a military precision psyop.

Actually, the origins were due to an actual analysis. The "jew" who came forward actually is the one to discredit the analysis. The "jew" to discredit the analysis, I believe is a zionist whereas the guy who revealed the issue is now in an Iranian jail.

Hitler was also a British agent. He burned his home town to the ground to hide his ancestry.

You just don't like him becuz he is one of the only world leaders calling out the Jews for their misdeeds and drawing attention to discrepancies in the "sacred cow" Holoco$t(TM) story. You'd rather have him say nothing at all like a good slave.

More on the controversy that the CFR wishes would go away:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad revealed to have Jewish past
http://www.solomonia.com/blog/archive/2009/10/mahmoud-ahmadinejads-jewish-roots-reveal/index.shtml

A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots.

A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian - a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver.

Experts last night suggested Mr Ahmadinejad's track record for hate-filled attacks on Jews could be an overcompensation to hide his past......A London-based expert on Iranian Jewry said that "jian" ending to the name specifically showed the family had been practising Jews."He has changed his name for religious reasons, or at least his parents had," said the Iranian-born Jew living in London. "Sabourjian is well known Jewish name in Iran."......The Iranian leader has not denied his name was changed when his family moved to Tehran in the 1950s. But he has never revealed what it was change from or directly addressed the reason for the switch.Relatives have previously said a mixture of religious reasons and economic pressures forced his blacksmith father Ahmad to change when Mr Ahmadinejad was aged four......During this year's presidential debate on television he was goaded to admit that his name had changed but he ignored the jibe.

However Mehdi Khazali, an internet blogger, who called for an investigation of Mr Ahmadinejad's roots was arrested this summer...

You just don't like him becuz he is one of the only world leaders calling out the Jews for their misdeeds and drawing attention to discrepancies in the "sacred cow" Holoco$t(TM) story. You'd rather have him say nothing at all like a good slave.

I do not like him because he is escalating conflicts and does not give a shit about the Persian people, just like Bush's buddy Ariel Sharon did not give a shit about the people he was supposed to be leading (he killed his own troops, on record, above suspicion, incontrovertible).

I have no idea why you love him when even our neighborhood "it was the jooooooos" expert agrees with my analysis:

I used to disagree with you on this but now I can see it. David Duke believes in 19 Arab terrorists armed with boxcutters and magical passports but I have a feeling that he's going to join his buddy Ahmadinejad and join the truth movement.

This is about the best analysis on the "jewish" issue I have seen:

http://examiner.com/middle-eastern-policy-in-los-angeles/ahmadinejad-is-jewish-accusation-may-be-political-tactic-by-opposition

Conclusion:

In the end, the question of whether Ahmadinejad is Jewish may never be conclusively answered. The larger point is that it doesn’t really much matter. What matters is that Ahmadinejad and the mullocracy which he represents are dangerous. The second important point is that while the opposition contains liberal democratic elements, that isn’t the whole story. It also contains the sort of people who think calling an opponent “Jewish” is a slur, and a viable political strategy.

Is Ahmadinejad trying to hide his Jewish roots by bashing Israel?
According to The Daily Telegraph, the Iranian leader hails from a Jewish family that converted to Islam.

Here is the deal...CFR/Bilderberg need to attach 9/11 truth to the next planned false flag.

Who is the expert on false flags for power plays?

PNAC?

How about the total psychopath John Bolton?

Remember this from 2/2009 (good analysis by rio BTW):

John Bolton fearmongering about Iran Nuking Chicago

Ok, why was the Sears Tower a target after suspected false-flag terror targer after 9/11? Who just gave a false flag terrorism warning for Chicago last week?

John Bolton jokes about nuking Chicago, entire CPAC audience erupts in laughter

Quote from:
This morning, former U.N. ambassador John Bolton spoke to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). He tried to up the fear quotient in the room by raising the prospect of an Iranian-sent nuclear attack on an American city. “It’s [a] tiny [threat] compared to the Soviet Union,” Bolton said, “but is the loss of one American city — pick one at random: Chicago. The audience erupted in cheers and laughter at the idea of Obama’s home city being obliterated. Watch the video.

We have heard that terror suspect Senator Bob Graham has said "We must get hit again"

***Senator Graham Exclaims: "WE HAVE TO GET HIT WITH ANOTHER 9/11!"
Graham: W.H. talks just went 'dead'
By: Josh Gerstein
September 20, 2010 04:48 AM EDT

...Durbin has said publicly that he believes the issues might be more easily addressed in a non-election year. However, with Congress expected to become more Republican and more conservative, it’s hard to see an increased willingness to hold criminal trials or bring Guantanamo prisoners to the United States. A big change in the complexion of Congress might even lead Obama to declare his goal of closing Guantanamo simply impossible in his current term.

Some believe amending appropriations bills for the Justice Department and the Defense Department could get the Guantanamo debate rolling again after the election. However, when asked what could force action, Graham warned that another terrorist attack against the U.S. would bring urgency to the matter and not necessarily in a good way.

“There’s going to be an attack. That’s going to be the impetus. That’s going to be what it takes to get Congress and the administration talking; we have to get hit again,” the senator said, suggesting that passing a bill before that happens might be more reasonable than what would come afterward.

“If there is a successful attack, there is going to be a real violent reaction in the Congress, where we will react more emotionally than thoughtfully,” Graham said.

Fine, who the F has been supplying Iran with their weapons for the past 40 years?

Who has been caught laundering money for nuke sales to Iran?

ILLUMINATI BANKSTERS CAUGHT RED  HANDED PLANNING NUKE ATTACK ON US SOIL!

False Flag Nuke plot orchestrated by Citi, BoA, JPM, Wells/Wachovia, BONY UBS using Iran and China as scapegoats Exposed

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/2009/04/07/2009-04-07_iranian_nuke_plot_vaporized_in_the_city_-2.html
Tuesday, April 7th 2009

The Manhattan district attorney's office has smashed a sinister plot to smuggle nuclear weapons materials to Iran through unwitting New York banks, the Daily News has learned. Officials plan to unseal a 118-count indictment Tuesday accusing a Chinese national of setting up a handful of fake companies to hide that he was selling millions of dollars in potential nuclear materials to Tehran. "This case will cut off a major source of supply to Iran and it shows how they are going ahead full steam to get a nuclear bomb. Long-range missiles they pretty much have already," a law enforcement source close to the case said. "We think it is one of the largest suppliers of weapons of mass destruction to Iran." Experts say Iran, under the leadership of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, appears close to amassing enough nuclear material to make an atom bomb. A United Nations embargo bans Iran from acquiring the high-tech metals needed to make a long-range nuclear weapon a reality. The indictment will outline the financial conspiracy behind 58 different transactions, including shipments of various banned materials from China to Iran between 2006 and late 2008.

Among them:

    * 33,000 pounds of a specialized aluminum alloy used almost exclusively in long-range missile production.
    * 66,000 pounds of tungsten copper plate, which is used in missile guidance systems.
    * 53,900 pounds of maraging steel rods, a superhard metal used in uranium enrichment and to make the casings for nuclear bombs.

The recipient is believed to have been a subsidiary of the Iranian Defense Ministry. The suspect, who is not believed to be in the U.S., set up four bogus import-export companies that did business with six Iranian shell firms, one source said. "They took elaborate steps to conceal the identity of the shipper and the recipient," the source said. The deals went through "several" New York banks, which cooperated when the alleged plot was uncovered. "The New York banks were completely unaware," the source said. Authorities first stumbled over the scheme seven months ago in an unrelated probe into Iranian money-laundering through Lloyd's, a British bank. In January, Lloyd's paid a $350 million fine to settle accusations it "stripped" information from Iranian money transfers to New York banks, hiding where the cash came from. Officials said they suspected that money was also used to finance Iran's nuke program. "The important thing is to put sunlight on these deals," the law enforcement source said.

* U.S. hits six Iranian companies hit with sanctions
* Chinese executive and his company indicted in New York
* Money channeled through U.S., European banks (Combines stories about indictment and sanctions)

By David Lawder and Edith Honan

WASHINGTON/NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - The U.S. government on Tuesday slapped sanctions on a Chinese metals company and six Iranian companies suspected of collaborating on a scheme to transfer missile and nuclear technology from China to Iran.

A New York grand jury also indicted the Chinese metals company, LIMMT Economic and Trade Co Ltd, and its manager, Lee Fangwei, on 118 counts including suspicion of shipping 33,000 pounds (15,000 kg) of specialized aluminum alloy used for long-range missile production from China to Iran. Lee was charged with the suspected misuse of Manhattan banks employed to transfer money between China and Iran by way of Europe and the United States. The actions by the U.S. Treasury Department and a grand jury convened by the New York state prosecutor in Manhattan come as the United States has sought tougher U.N. sanctions against Iran to halt its nuclear program, which Western nations believe is designed for making weapons. Tehran says the program is aimed at increasing its civilian power capacity. China is bound by three U.N. Security Council sanctions resolutions forbidding support for or contact with individuals or companies linked to Iran's missile and nuclear programs. China and Russia reluctantly backed all three resolutions and say they are complying with sanctions. But U.N. diplomats say a number of Chinese, Russian and Western firms have continued to try to skirt the restrictions on selling sensitive technology to Iran. "Materials may be dual-use, but when they are sent to front companies set up by the Iranian military, and the defendants use false end-user certificates and dummy names, there's not much doubt that the use is for weapons," Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau told reporters. Morgenthau also said he would request the arrest and extradition of Lee, also known as Karl Lee and by several other aliases, from the Chinese government. He is believed to be at large in China.

SUSPECTED FIRMS BLACKLISTED

Morgenthau identified the U.S. banks as Citibank (C.N), JPMorgan Chase (JPM.N), Wachovia Bank/Wells Fargo Standard Centered Bank (WFC.N), Bank of America (BAC.N) and The Bank of New York Mellon (BK.N) but he declined to identify the European banks.

Hey insane CIA and the Banksters that own you...

EVERYBODY KNOWS!

Sibel Edmonds' Charges of Nuclear Treason Crack the U.S. Mainstream Media
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=5704

Dallas Morning News Runs Edited Version of Phil Giraldi's Detailed 'American Conservative Magazine' Report on Former FBI Translator's Corroborated Allegations Against High-Ranking U.S. Officials...

Kudos the Dallas Morning News for becoming the first U.S. corporate mainstream outlet to run coverage of former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds' startling allegations of high-treason and the sale of U.S. nuclear secrets to the foreign black market, with the cooperation of high-ranking U.S. officials, originally published weeks ago by UK's Sunday Times, and papers in virtually every other country --- except for this one.

Today, the Morning News runs a lengthy version of former CIA officer Phil Giraldi's "Found in Translation" essay, originally published at American Conservative Magazine several weeks ago. Though the Morning News version is labeled as "Commentary" and replaces the named identity of former #3 at the State Department, Marc Grossman with "high-ranking official", along with other edits, the piece succeeds in breaking the U.S. media silence on the bulk of the details recently revealed in this remarkable story.

This version of Giraldi's story is sub-headlined, "Why is her story being covered up?" and begins as follows...
Most Americans have never heard of Sibel Edmonds, and if the U.S. government has its way, they never will.
...
And if she is to be believed, a treasonous plot to embed moles in American military and nuclear installations and pass sensitive intelligence to Israeli, Pakistani and Turkish sources was facilitated by figures in the upper echelons of the State and Defense Departments. Her charges could be easily confirmed or dismissed if classified government documents were made available to investigators.

Go read it. Then take five minutes to write a letter to your local papers and/or news stations (Dem-based web tool, Rep-based web tool) to ask them why they are not investigating and/or reporting this story.

The BRAD BLOG's extensive, years-long catalog of too-frequently-exclusive coverage of the Sibel Edmonds story can be read here.

Catli has links to terrorism, gangsterism and Chicago in the USA.

In the summer of 2001, 4 months before 9 11, the FBI's monitoring of Turkish agents revealed Turkish contacts with Feith, Wolfowitz, and Perle.

These people had discussions with the Turkish ambassador in Washington.

The subject of the discussions was a deal whereby the U.S. would invade Iraq.

According to Interpol, "Turkey is a major staging area and transportation route for heroin destined for European markets."[37]

Reportedly, members of the Turkish military and police are members of drug gangs.

Sometimes there is gang warfare.

The CIA and its friends in NATO are reported to have used 'terrorist' gangs in order to keep the 'right wing' in power in Europe, including Turkey.

"Those structures still exist," claims newspaper columnist Cengiz Candar. ('Deep state plot' Coup rumours about rogue security officials set Turkey abuzz)

The CIA is believed to work closely with certain right-wing forces in Turkey.

Image: http://www.kurdistan-post.com/News-file-article-sid-24035.html

In 1996, a car crashed in the town of Susurluk, in Turkey.

The car contained a top police chief and a top politician.

The car also contained a man called Abdullah Çatli, who was a drug trafficker and contract killer with links to fascism and the CIA's Operation Gladio.

In 1998 the magazine Monde Diplomatique alleged that Abdullah Çatli organized the 1981 attempt to assassinate the Pope, "in exchange for the sum of 3 million German mark"

In 1989, Catli was on Interpol's 'most wanted' list.

In 1989, Catli was able to travel to the USA, be granted residency, settle in Chicago, and continued to conduct his operations.

According to Cengiz Candar, "Susurluk revealed weird connections between state officials and those who operate outside the limits of the law. It happened at a time when we had a lot of extra-judicial killings in Turkey."

"But the investigation stopped just as there was speculation it was reaching very sensitive spots, even the military establishment. That only confirmed the existence of these networks in the public consciousness." ('Deep state plot' Coup rumours about rogue security officials set Turkey abuzz)

Sibel Edmonds, as a translator for the FBI, translated recordings of conversations between suspected Turkish intelligence agents and various Americans.

She was concerned that one of her fellow translators, Can Dickerson, was a member of the American-Turkish Council, a Turkish group being investigated for:

A. Bribing top government officials and members of Congress
B. Drug trafficking
C. Illegal weapons sales
D. Money laundering
E. Nuclear proliferation.

Sibel was sacked from the FBI in April 2002 after she raised her concerns.

She was shocked that no effort was made to deal with the corruption that she had come across.

A Department of Justice inspector general's report called Edmonds's allegations 'credible.'

Two ranking Senate Judiciary Committee members backed her.

'60 Minutes' found her claims believable.

John Ashcroft's Justice Department gagged her.

In August 2009, she was able to testify under oath in a court case in Ohio.

Marc Grossman

The 1 November 2009 Issue of The American Conservative has an article entitled: Who's Afraid of Sibel Edmonds?

This article covers the evidence Edmonds gave in court in August 2009.

Among the points made:

1. Members of Congress and US government employees were giving information to foreign agents. Sibel Edmonds provided names and details.

One person identified was Marc Grossman, then the third highest-ranking official at the State Department.

While Grossman had been U.S. ambassador to Turkey (1994-97), he reportedly became involved with Turkish government operatives and with suspected criminal groups.

He also had 'suspicious' contact with Israelis.

Reportedly, Grossman was involved in the 'Susurluk' scandal which involved top criminals and top army and intelligence officers with whom he had been in contact.

The gangster who was killed in the 1996 Susurluk scandal was Abdullah Catli.

Catli was on Interpol's 'most wanted' list.

But Catli, in 1989, was able to travel to the USA, be granted residency, settle in Chicago, and continued to conduct his operations.

Air Force Major Douglas Dickerson worked for Grossman in Turkey. Later he went to work for Douglas Feith; and his wife Can Dickerson was hired as an FBI Turkish translator.

2. According to Edmonds:

A. Grossman, at the State Department, continued to assist his Turkish and Israeli contacts.

B. Grossman helped certain people to gain access to members of Congress such as Tom Lantos.

C. Israel, Turkey and Pakistan ended up receiving US defence information.

Perle

3. According to Edmonds:

A. officials at the Pentagon, such as Richard Perle and Douglas Feith, were also involved.

B. Perle and Feith would give to Grossman the names and personal details of certain officials in the Pentagon.

C. Grossman was being paid for his services.

D. Feith and Perle had a relationship with Kissinger's group, with Northrop Grumman, with former secretary of state James Baker's group, and with former national security adviser Brent Scowcroft.

Feith

4. According to Edmonds:

In the summer of 2001, 4 months before 9 11, the FBI monitoring of the Turks revealed contacts with Feith, Wolfowitz, and Perle.

These people had discussions with the Turkish ambassador in Washington.

The subject of the discussions was a deal whereby the U.S. would invade Iraq.

The UK would take the south.

The USA would take the rest.

The Turks wanted to take the Kurdish region.

Scowcroft and Baker had consulting firms doing business with Turkey.

Scowcroft, Baker, Richard Armitage (deputy Secretary of State), and Grossman became involved in negotiations with Turkey.

Scowcroft wanted Iraq invaded in 2001, assuming his friend Turkey would be given a good deal.

Wolfowitz.

5. According to Edmonds:

Turkish agents had a network of Turkish professors in US universities.

Turkish students would be placed in various US nuclear facilities and some were able to work for the US Air Force.

Grossman could ensure security clearance.

Information gained by the students could be sold for example to the Saudis.

6. This corruption also involved Congress.

According to Edmonds:

The FBI was looking at Bob Livingston, Dan Burton, Dennis Hastert, Tom Lantos and Jan Schakowsky.

Turkish agents found out that Jan Schakowsky was bisexual.

A Turkish agent began a relationship with her.

7. Edmonds saw conversations that suggested US agents were supporting al-Qaeda in central Asia and the Balkans, and that this contact continued until 9/11.

According to Edmonds:

These conversations, between 1997 and 2001, involved various bin Ladens, managed by US agents.

Marc Grossman was in charge.

Various bin Ladens, plus guns and drugs, travelled on NATO planes.

NATO planes took some of the drugs to Belgium. Drugs then went to the UK.

A lot of drugs were transported on military planes to the USA.

8. According to Edmonds, corrupt Chicago is central to Obama's administration.

The Turkish criminals have Chicago as the centre of their operation.

FBI Veteran Executive Calls For Special Counsel Investigation, Prosecutions in Sibel Edmonds Case
Details panic inside the Bureau, executive effort to 'keep this whole thing quiet' when matter first came to light in 2002
Further confirms FBI translator/whistleblower's allegations, credibility...

http://www.bradblog.com/?p=7449
By Brad Friedman on 10/5/2009 11:18AM

An 18-year Counterintelligence and Counterterrorism Manager for the FBI has called for a Special Counsel to be appointed to investigate the allegations of FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds. John M. Cole, who now works as an intelligence contractor for the Air Force, made his comments during an audio interview released late last week with radio journalist Peter B. Collins.

He also offered a detailed insiders look at the concerns among high-level officials inside the Bureau as Edmonds disturbing allegations began coming to light back in 2002, before they would be quashed for seven long years by the Bush Administration's unprecedented use of the so-called "State Secrets Privilege" to gag her.

Earlier last week, following the publication of a remarkable American Conservative magazine cover story interview with Edmonds --- detailing a broad bribery, blackmail and espionage conspiracy said to have been carried out between current and former members of the U.S. Congress, high-ranking State and Defense Department officials and covert operatives from Turkey and Israel, resulting in the theft and sale of nuclear weapons technology to the foreign black market --- Cole had been quoted by the magazine confirming one of Edmonds' key allegations.

"I am fully aware of the FBI's decade-long investigation of" Marc Grossman, he said in response to the AmCon article/interview. Grossman had served as the third-highest ranking official in the Bush State Department and was alleged by Edmonds in the interview, and in a sworn, video-taped deposition a month earlier, to have been the U.S. ringleader for a massive Turkish espionage scandal reaching through the halls of power and into top secret nuclear facilities around the country to the benefit of allies and enemies alike. Cole said that the FBI's counterintelligence probe "ultimately was buried and covered up," and that he believes it is "long past time" for an investigation of the case to "bring about accountability."

In his subsequent interview with Collins last week (audio and text excerpts posted below) Cole elaborated on those comments in much greater detail, noting that Edmonds has been "one hundred percent right on the money, on the mark" and confirming the existence of an "ongoing and detailed effort by Turkey to develop influence in the United States" through various illegal activities.

"Yes, I can confirm that," Cole told Collins, "That's true."

The FBI veteran executive also offered an insider's account of the panic that ensued inside the highest echelons of the Bureau following Edmonds first disclosure of information in 2002, recounting how an executive assistant director admitted to him at the time, just after the story first broke, "Well, all I know is that everything that Sibel is stating is true. I read her file. Everything she stated is, in fact, accurate."

Cole further describes how the concerns about Edmonds ultimately led to the Bush Administration's two-time use of the draconian "State Secrets Privilege" in hopes of keeping her extraordinary information from becoming public. "Everybody at headquarters level at the bureau knew that what she was saying was extremely accurate."

"I know they didn't want her to go out and speak about it at all," Cole revealed, "and I know they were trying to figure out ways of keeping this whole thing quiet, because they didn't want Sibel to come out."

He also offered information which directly counters one of the criticisms of Edmonds' allegations as frequently offered by skeptics. Namely, that as a short time FBI contract translator --- even though she was tasked to review some seven years of counterintelligence wiretaps made from 1996 to 2002 --- she couldn't have had enough understanding of the full scope of the investigations to understand what was really going on.

"The thing is," Cole explained to Collins, "the position that Sibel was in, she had access to extremely sensitive information. The translators have access to some of the most sensitive information that we receive."

He detailed how first-hand information goes first from the translators to the investigators who then act on it, as some of the most important information collected by FBI language specialists could have "implications that may affect even the White House, or policy."

"So what I'm saying is, I know she had access to some very sensitive stuff, and I could see why the Bureau would squirm over her coming out and speaking about some of the things that were going on."

The interview concluded with Cole's re-iteration of both his confidence in Edmonds' credibility, and his call for accountability.

"I would love to see, especially with the allegations that Sibel has come out with, her allegations --- which I believe are in fact true, I have no reason to doubt what she's saying --- I would love to see somebody take that, a Special Counsel or whatever, some group of people that you could trust, have them investigate those allegations and have people's feet held to the fire. Have them be held accountable for their actions --- and prosecuted if they've done wrong."

"You know, no one's above the law, and no one should be above the law," he added, along with one more chilling thought: "You know, it really irritates me that people are getting away with murder, in some cases. They should not be allowed to get away with that. There needs to be accountability. And that's what I'd love to see."

Interview excerpts...

On Edmonds' credibility...
COLE: I've known Sibel now for, ya know, for a few years. And everything she says, she's a hundred percent right on the money, on the mark. I've never --- there's not one thing I've seen Sibel be off the mark on. I mean, she's 100%. She's very credible. I give her a hundred percent credit on everything she says.

Some of the things I'm not aware of, ya know, that she claims. But, here again, you know we had the Department of Justice's Inspector General review all this stuff too, and in their report they came out and said that there was a lot of merit to what she was saying and they ordered the Bureau to investigate her allegations. And, of course, they've never done it. It's been how many years since they told them to do that, and nothing's been done.

So, yeah, I've a lot of respect for Sibel Edmonds. I trust her. I don't think she'd say anything that wasn't true.

Confirmation of key allegations about Turkish espionage and high-ranking officials...
PBC: John Cole, based on your experience, going back to the early 1990's, can you confirm that there was an ongoing and detailed effort by Turkey to develop influence in the United States, through a variety of means, some of which were not legal.

COLE: Yes, I can confirm that. That's true.
...
PBC: Are you aware of any long-term collusion by U.S. officials that aided and abetted that desire by Turkey to develop influence in Washington. In other words, was this a two-way street?

COLE: As far as helping us, helping the America public, no. As far as helping certain politicians, yes. That's correct. They would ask for favors, Turkish individuals would ask for favors --- ya know, 'you help me out and I'll help you out" --- and basically what would happen is the elected official would either receive money or some kind of gift. Or, if it was a government employee, I've seen it where after they retired, they get these very lucrative positions with a Turkish company, or whatever the country may be. ... They get a very lucrative position that pays them an extraordinary amount of money. ... So yeah, if you help them out, they help you out. Let's put it that way.

PBC: And, based on your knowledge, was this centered at the American Turkish Council, was that the entity, the non-government agency that was used by Turkey to spawn and promote this desire to develop influence among important officials in the United States.

COLE: That was just one, there was others too, but yes, that was one.

PBC: And as you read Philip Giraldi's article and the companion interview in the American Conservative magazine was there anything that jumped out at you, that was new to you?

COLE: I thought it was very interesting, the article was, and nothing really surprised me, let's put it that way. You know, I thought, well, there was certain things I wasn't aware of. I'll say that. But nothing surprised me. I thought well this makes a little more sense on some of the investigations I had, I can understand now why certain things happened the way they did. But as far as jumping out at me, nothing was really a surprise.

On first hearing about Edmonds in a 2002 Washington Post article; Confirmation and reaction among higher-ups in the Bureau when the matter first came up; And the key role that translators play in the FBI's counterintelligence divisions...
COLE: ...When I went back to work the next day, after that article came out, I asked somebody, I said "Whose this Sibel Edmonds?", and they said, a woman that I know, a female that I know that worked up on the seventh floor, which is where the Director's floor is at, all the executives are up there --- she told me, she goes "Well, all I know is that everything that Sibel is stating", this is what she told me, she goes, "everything that Sibel is stating is true. I read her file. Everything she stated is, in fact, accurate." And she goes, "The seventh floor better figure out what they're gonna do about her, because she's completely right."

And then I asked her, I said, "Well, how can I get a hold of her? I want to meet with her. I want to talk to her and compare notes with her."

And she told me, "It's best you don't get in touch with her."
...
Everybody at headquarters level at the bureau knew that what she was saying was extremely accurate.

PBC: Aside from the woman on the seventh floor that you referred to, was there any kind of a buzz that 'we've got to silence this woman, that this is dangerous for the FBI, dangerous for the U.S. government, could expose ongoing investigations?' I mean some of it could have been put in legitimate terms, and others, like you just cited the woman on the seventh floor, seemed to be suggestion that a cover up was in order, because this information was not only true, but highly explosive.

COLE: Well, exactly. And there was an executive assistant director I used to talk to all the time, and I talked to her about it, and she said one time, she goes, "Well, the Bureau is gonna have to try to work something out with Sibel, because they don't want this to go out and become public." And said, "Well, I think it's kind of late for that!" Ya know?

But I know they didn't want her to go out and speak about it at all, and I know they were trying to figure out ways of keeping this whole thing quiet, because they didn't want Sibel to come out.

The thing is, the position that Sibel was in, she had access to extremely sensitive information. The translators have access to some of the most sensitive information that we receive. I mean, we have stuff that is just mind-boggling, the stuff that comes in, the translators translate and we get. And they have first-hand knowledge of it, before anyone else does, because they're the first ones to translate it, and they say 'Oh, wow, look what's going on here."

And then they send it to the investigators, and we put the pieces together and say, 'Okay, now this is pertinent to my case here, or this is pertinent to this', or we send an IIR [Intelligence Information Report] out to the community saying 'this is something you might want to be aware of. This has implications that may affect even the White House, or policy'. So you send an Intelligence Information Report out to those agencies.

So, what Sibel is saying, I don't doubt whatsoever. There's no reason for her to lie about it. And she's been accurate on every other point that she's ever made.

So what I'm saying is, I know she had access to some very sensitive stuff, and I could see why the Bureau would squirm over her coming out and speaking about some of the things that were going on.

Calling for accountability and a Special Counsel investigation of the Edmonds case...
PBC: John is there anything you'd like to add here, in regard to the Sibel Edmonds case, and what you would like to see in terms of exposure of her allegations and investigation of these various serious claims?

COLE: Well, I'd like to see --- I feel terrible for Sibel, because I know what she's gone through. I mean, I've gone through the same thing. I think she went through more than I did, as far as that, and I went through a lot. But what I would like to see, there has to be accountability and there has to be oversight. First of all, you need to have legislation that protects people that come out and do the right thing.

And it has to be enforceable, that's the second thing. It has to be enforceable. You can have legislation, but if there's nothing to enforce it, it's useless. It has to be enforceable.

The third thing is, I don't believe any agency should have their own control over their security programs, for security clearance. It's just crazy that they have an inspection division within the FBI that goes out and inspects the FBI. Because everyone in that inspection division is trying to get promoted. And they know if they go out and find something negative about an SAC or an ASAC [Assistant Special Agent in Charge] or a high-level official in the FBI, they're not going to report it, because it's going to ruin their career. So you need to have a separate entity coming in and looking at that. The Dept. of Justice would be good, if they would do their job. But there needs to be some changes, and some major changes.

And I would love to see, especially with the allegations that Sibel has come out with, her allegations --- which I believe are in fact true, I have no reason to doubt what she's saying --- I would love to see somebody take that, a Special Counsel or whatever, some group of people that you could trust, have them investigate those allegations and have people's feet held to the fire. Have them be held accountable for their actions --- and prosecuted if they've done wrong.

You know, no one's above the law, and no one should be above the law. You know, it really irritates me that people are getting away with murder, in some cases. They should not be allowed to get away with that. There needs to be accountability. And that's what I'd love to see.

And I'd love to see Sibel finally have her day in court, where she can come out and say what she wants to say, and she can be compensated for all the wrong-doing that they did to her. I mean, she's an exceptional person, and she's a patriot, and she should not have been treated the way she's been treated. That's what I'd like to see.

SIBEL EDMONDS SPEAKS TO UK SUNDAY TIMES: SAYS U.S. OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN RELEASE OF NUKE SECRETS TO TURKEY, PAKISTAN, IRAN, OTHERS, POSSIBLY EVEN AL-QAEDA
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=5518

Former 'Gagged' FBI Whistleblower Alleges Pentagon, State Department Officials Overheard Receiving Payoffs in Exchange for Classified Info; Crimes Covered Up at Highest Levels of Government
U.S. Media Scooped Again, Failed to Air Claims After Offer of Disclosure by Edmonds in Recent BRAD BLOG Exclusives... [UPDATED SEVERAL TIMES]

-- By Brad Friedman

[Updated --- now several times --- with a number of significant items, additional info, background, reaction and analysis from around the blogosphere, all at the end of the article.]

Sibel Edmonds, the former FBI translator who has been under a Bush administration gag order for the past 5 years, has now begun to disclose some of the classified information she has been prohibited from revealing.

"A WHISTLEBLOWER has made a series of extraordinary claims about how corrupt government officials allowed Pakistan and other states to steal nuclear weapons secrets," reports Great Britain's Sunday Times in the lede of their front page exclusive, headlined "For sale: West’s deadly nuclear secrets."

In the article, just filed tonight, Edmonds reveals details overheard on wiretaps she translated during her time at the FBI, just after 9/11. Her disclosures to the Times reveal a maze of nuclear black market espionage involving U.S. Defense and State Department officials, that resulted in the sale and propagation of nuclear secrets to Turkish and Israeli interests. In turn, that information was then sold to Pakistan and used by A.Q. Kahn for development of nuclear weapons. The secrets were subsequently proliferated to Iran, Libya, North Korea, and potentially al-Qaeda's Osama bin Laden, just weeks prior to September 11th, 2001.

The explosive allegations, shared with the Sunday Times over the last several weeks, follow on the heels of two reports published late last year by The BRAD BLOG, based on our own exclusive interviews with Edmonds.

While not everything Edmonds has to reveal is reported by the Times tonight, the foreign paper's front-page feature underscores, yet again, the failure of the U.S. mainstream media to adequately report on issues of extraordinary importance to American national security.

In late October, Edmonds had told The BRAD BLOG she was prepared to reveal the information to any major U.S. broadcast media outlet, after feeling that she had exhausted all efforts to see the disturbing information properly investigated by U.S. Government agencies. She had, in fact, spent years in classified interviews with high-ranking officials from the FBI, DoJ, 9/11 Commission and both houses of the U.S. Congress, in hopes of seeing accountability brought concerning the issues of national security, which the DoJ's own Inspector General had described as "credible," "serious," and "warrant[ing] a thorough and careful review by the FBI."

Despite broken promises for hearings on her case by U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA), support from Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Patrick Leahy (D-VT), and a number of mainstream exposés several years ago detailing aspects of her story before she was willing to break her unprecedented "States Secrets Privilege" gag order, none of the American broadcast media outlets took her up on her offer.

"She has now decided to divulge some of that information after becoming disillusioned with the US authorities' failure to act," reports the Sunday Times tonight...

In our mid-November follow-up article, the legendary 1970's whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg had excoriated the U.S. media for their failure to cover the story, even as Edmonds was risking jail in order to expose crimes and massive corruption, allegedly, in the highest levels of the government. At the time, Ellsberg told us that he believed the information she had been forced by the Administration to withhold "is far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers."

Ellsberg is known for having released thousands of pages of top-secret Defense Department documents, concerning America's involvement in Vietnam, to the New York Times in 1971, in what became a landmark whistleblower case.

"I can tell the American public exactly what it is, and what it is that they are covering up," Edmonds had promised in our October article. But it was, in fact, a UK media outlet that finally took up the Turkish-born, American citizen's offer for the whistleblower interview. The result is the release of explosive details on at least one aspect of the U.S. national security-related secrets that she is now willing to disclose.

"What I found was damning," Edmonds tells the Times about the information she learned while at the FBI concerning the nuclear blackmarket activities and proliferation of several government agencies, including her own unit at the FBI. "While the FBI was investigating, several arms of the government were shielding what was going on."

Among the newly disclosed information from Edmonds, in the extraordinary front-page Times article tonight:

● Foreign intelligence agents from Turkey, Israel and Pakistan enlisted the support of high-level US officials in order to acquire a network of moles deep inside of sensitive American military and nuclear agencies, including "PhD students – with security clearance [at] Los Alamos nuclear laboratory in New Mexico, which is responsible for the security of the US nuclear deterrent."

● Members of the diplomatic community were given lists of potential "moles" at the sensitive installations. Edmonds tells the Times: "the lists contained all their 'hooking points', which could be financial or sexual pressure points, their exact job in the Pentagon and what stuff they had access to."

● Well-known US officials were then bribed by foreign agents to steal US nuclear secrets. One such incident from 2000 involves an agent overheard on a wiretap discussing "nuclear information that had been stolen from an air force base in Alabama," in which the agent allegedly is heard saying: "We have a package and we’re going to sell it for $250,000."

● Nuclear secrets were then subsequently sold by foreign agents to America's enemies, including Iran, North Korea and Libya.

● Pakistani officials involved in the nuclear black market network have significant cross-over with al-Qaeda and 9/11. Officials such as the chief of ISI, Pakistan's spy agency, allegedly sent $100,000 to 9/11 hijacker Mohammed Atta, and aides of A.Q. Kahn --- who had used the stolen secrets to develop nuclear weapons for Pakistan --- met with Osama bin Laden "weeks before 9/11...to discuss an Al-Qaeda nuclear device."

● Elements of the US government have repeatedly shut down investigations into these crimes under the guise of protecting "certain diplomatic relations."

● The US government has been aware of all of the above information since at least 2001.

Read the Times' full article for many more disturbing details and connected dots.

But we can add to at least one item of note in their report, concerning an unnamed "well-known senior official in the US State Department," allegedly heard to have received bribes as part of the network. According to the paper:
Among the hours of covert tape recordings, she says she heard evidence that one well-known senior official in the US State Department was being paid by Turkish agents in Washington who were selling the information on to black market buyers, including Pakistan.

The name of the official – who has held a series of top government posts – is known to The Sunday Times. He strongly denies the claims.

However, Edmonds said: “He was aiding foreign operatives against US interests by passing them highly classified information, not only from the State Department but also from the Pentagon, in exchange for money, position and political objectives.”

She claims that the FBI was also gathering evidence against senior Pentagon officials – including household names – who were aiding foreign agents.
...
"In one conversation Edmonds heard the official arranging to pick up a $15,000 cash bribe."
...
Edmonds said: “I heard at least three transactions like this over a period of 2½ years. There are almost certainly more.”

While that "well-known senior" State Department official is not named by the paper, Australia's Luke Ryland, who writes at a number of sites as "Lukery", is perhaps the world's foremost expert concerning the Sibel Edmonds story. Ryland has told The BRAD BLOG that the official, unnamed by the Times, is Marc Grossman.

Grossman was the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey ('94-'97), the Asst. Sec. of State for European Affairs ('97-'00) and served under Colin Powell and Richard Armitage at the State Department from 2001 to 2005 as the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. He's currently employed as the Vice Chairman of the D.C. and China-based consulting firm, The Cohen Group, founded by the former Republican Defense Secretary for Bill Clinton, William S. Cohen.

"The Cohen Group provides global business consulting services and advice on tactical and strategic opportunities in virtually every market," advertises the firm on the front page of their website.

Additional information on a related angle of Grossman's alleged involvement in these matters was reported by the prolific Ryland in 2006, on his blog, WotIsItGood4.

"The senior official in the State Department [who] no longer works there" offered the Times this non-denial denial of Edmonds' allegations: "If you are calling me to say somebody said that I took money that’s outrageous," he reportedly said. "I do not have anything to say about such stupid ridiculous things as this."

Apparently, he also doesn't have anything to say, along the lines of "I never took any such money, or did any such thing," either.

"In researching this article, The Sunday Times has talked to two FBI officers (one serving, one former) and two former CIA sources who worked on nuclear proliferation," the paper writes. "While none was aware of specific allegations against officials she names, they did provide overlapping corroboration of Edmonds’s story."

In a 15-page 2005 exposé in Vanity Fair, concerning yet another, if perhaps-related, aspect of Edmonds' allegations, British reporter David Rose detailed charges of nearly $500,000 in bribes from Turkish interests, said to have been prepared for former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL). His attorney has denied those allegations, though, in another BRAD BLOG exclusive, Edmonds challenged specific details of the denial. Hastert recently resigned from Congress, sparking speculation for his sudden departure after reports by ABC News in 2006, that he was under DoJ investigation for bribery charges related to convicted Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

In our October story, Edmonds had told us that, in addition to Hastert, she was prepared to name and give details of corruption involving at least "two other well-known" members of Congress. She told us at the time that they are both Republicans from the U.S. House and "one of them is recently no longer there."

For more details on the Edmonds case, in an easy to read primer, see "What The Heck is the Sibel Edmonds Case Anyway? And Why Should You Care About It?", a recent BRAD BLOG item based, in part, on the reporting of Ryland.

Whether the Sunday Times story tonight will give permission to the U.S. corporate media to finally pick up the story, and cover the many still-unreported aspects of Edmonds' charges, remains to be seen.

If any of them wish to contact us, we'll be happy, as we've offered many times, to help put them in contact with her.

As our friend Joseph Cannon mentions tonight, in relation to our coverage of the at least 4-years-overdue New York Times Magazine's Sunday cover story on the disaster of e-voting: "Journalism delayed is journalism denied."

UPDATE 12:06pm PT: Several notable reactions, furtherances of today's Sunday Times front page stunner...

● As usual, Luke Ryland offers tons of info, analysis, links and background in his dKos coverage (cross-posted at Let Sibel Edmonds Speak). Just a couple of the notable passages offering additional context on the story, from his coverage today:
The Times article then notes something that I reported 18 months ago. Immediately after 911, the FBI arrested a bunch of people suspected of being involved with the attacks - including four associates of key targets of FBI's counterintelligence operations. Sibel heard the targets tell Marc Grossman: "We need to get them out of the US because we can’t afford for them to spill the beans." Grossman duly facilitated their release from jail and the suspects immediately left the country without further investigation or interrogation.

Let me repeat that for emphasis: The #3 guy at the State Dept facilitated the immediate release of 911 suspects at the request of targets of the FBI's investigation.

...and this...
high-level Pentagon officials were maintaining 'dossiers' on the sexual and financial proclivities of their underlings in order to be able to blackmail them.

I know that many of you have been (rightly) concerned about FISA, and many of you have (rightly) been confused by the inexplicable behaviour of Democrats in Congress, and wonder why they behave as though they are being blackmailed.

Now you know.

● Rightwing blogger and "9/11 conspiracy theory debunker", Pat Curley, a previous --- and we would add, irresponsible --- critic of Edmonds' at ScrewLooseChange, offers what can only be seen as an ersatz apology for his previous coverage, in his item on today's news. Still, we note he has yet to retract, or issue a specific apology to Edmonds, for comments made in his previous irresponsible coverage. Given the focus of the Screw Loose Change site, we'd think journalistic integrity would be paramount, and that he'd add a retraction/apology to his previous coverage, if he's actually had the change of heart today's post would seem to indicate.

● Blogger Joseph Cannon describes the piece as a "BOMBSHELL!" and offers additional details on Pakistan's ISI chief Mahmoud Ahmad --- who is central to the Times story, and Edmonds allegations --- including his relationship to both al-Qaeda, and a very cozy relationship with the neo-Cons in D.C. Writes Cannon:
Get the picture? Valerie Plame was trying to stop Khan in his tracks. But Armitage stopped Valerie Plame in her tracks. Armitage and his neocon comrades are good buddies with Mehmood Ahmad, who was engineering this trade in nukes.

● And, speaking of the Plame angle, her former CIA classmate, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson of NoQuarter notes this, about Edmonds claims of payoffs to Grossman, Hastert and others, in his coverage this morning:
The role that foreign money and intelligence officers have played in U.S. politics is not a Sibel Edmonds fantasy. The woman is simply trying to tell folks what she heard. This matter needs to be investigated. I do not believe that Sibel is making up what she heard.

UPDATE 1:14pm PT: Further reaction from the 'sphere...

● Our friend, RAW STORY investigative journalist, Larisa Alexandrovna, a longtime expert on this particular foreign affairs/nuclear black market beat, adds some thoughts and details on her at-Largely blog (and also cross-posted to Huffington Post.)

She too confirms the unnamed State Dept. official from the story to be Marc Grossman, and writes: "The Times could have published the name and also provided the denial from Grossman's camp. I find it incredibly disturbing that they would not name the official."

Noting that her source for this information is not Edmonds, she also adds the following about some of the other unnamed officials referred to in the story:
Those senior DOD officials that are not mentioned the Times, all but one are no longer in government. They are alleged to be Doug Feith, Richard Perle, among others. There is also one person who is part of these allegations, still serving in a high level position at the DOD. His last name begins with an E. [My money is on this guy: Ambassador Eric S. Edelman is the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy. His last assignment was as Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey from July 2003 to June 2005. From February 2001 to June 2003, he was Principal Deputy Assistant to the Vice President for National Security Affairs. Prior to being assigned to the Office of the Vice President, he was Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, 1998-2001. From June 1996 to July 1998, he served as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State. Mr. Edelman was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy, Prague, Czech Republic, from June 1994 to June 1996. From April 1993 to July 1993, he served as Deputy to the Ambassador-at-Large and Special Advisor to the Secretary of State on the New Independent States. Mr. Edelman’s areas of responsibility were defense, security and space issues. Mr. Edelman served as Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Soviet and East European Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) from April 1990 to April 1993. From April 1989 to March 1990, he was Special Assistant (European Affairs) to the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. Mr. Edelman served at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow 1987-89, where he was head of the external political section. He had responsibility for Soviet policies in the third world in the Office of Soviet Affairs at the Department of State from 1984 to 1986. Previously, Mr. Edelman served as Special Assistant to Secretary of State George P. Shultz, 1982-84; a staff officer on the Secretariat Staff, 1982; a watch officer in the State Department Operations Center 1981-82; and a member of the U.S. Middle East Delegation to the West Bank/Gaza Autonomy Talks Delegations, 1980-81. A career Foreign Service Officer, Mr. Edelman entered the Senior Foreign Service in 1992. He is a recipient of the Secretary of Defense’s award for Distinguished Civilian Service (1993) and the State Department’s Superior Honor Award (1990 and 1996). Mr. Edelman received a B.A. in History and Government from Cornell University in 1972, and a Ph.D. in U.S. Diplomatic History from Yale University in 1981.]

...as she goes on to include this additional excoriation of the Times' unwillingness to name names, and of the dangers of outsourcing national security to the global marketplace:
That the Times ran these allegations (she is under a state secrets gag folks, so it is not like she is gagged for lying) is encouraging. But that they omitted all names from the allegations is unethical. The point of a free press is not to protect the powerful against the weak, but to protect the public from the powerful. The Times was willing to stick a toe in, but was not willing to risk upsetting a foreign government (This is, after all, a British paper).

There are more names, including members of Congress and people serving in the FBI. This is what happens when basic government services as well as the most sensitive government functions are outsourced to the global marketplace.
...
You can see why Edmonds had to be silenced for "diplomatic reasons." As though diplomatic (read: business) relationships are more important than national security.

UPDATE 11:38pm PT: More reaction and analysis coming in late tonight...

● Justin Raimondo, editorial director of Antiwar.com and a contributing editor for The American Conservative adds a great deal of linked context and background in his detailed coverage of the Times piece. He says of Edmonds allegations: "if true, it's the story of the decade."

He frames his article around last night's Presidential Debate, in which ABC's Charles Gibson asked the Democratic candidates a remarkable question, in light of the Edmonds allegations today. "The next president may have to deal with a nuclear attack," Gibson said. "The day after a nuclear weapon goes off in an American city, what would we wish we had done to prevent it and what will we actually do on the day after?"

None of the candidates rose to the occasion and most seemed baffled, writes Raimondo, who sums of the details of this whole sordid tale this way...
Corruption and a massive cover-up organized at the highest levels of government – America's nuclear secrets and technology looted on a massive scale, and sold to our enemies via a network set up by our alleged foreign "friends," while the threat of nuclear terrorism hangs over our country like a thick fog of fear, and warmongering politicians scare us into going along with the program – if even half of what Edmonds alleges turns out to be true, then we are all in some very big trouble.

...before closing with this eerie reminder...
As Edmonds says, "we have the facts, we have the documents, we have the witnesses. Put out the tapes, put out the documents, put out the intercepts – put out the truth."

If a nuke ever goes off in an American city, it will probably have been stolen from our own arsenal – once the American people wake up to that scary fact, the rest will follow automatically.

Ramaindo also reminds us of the following terrific video, put together by Luke Ryland last Summer, featuring Edmonds, in her own words, along with a few FBI colleagues, and Sen. Grassley singing her praises of "credibility" on 60 Minutes, from 2002. Well worth watching (less than 10 mins)...

UPDATE 1/7/08, 1:43pm PT: Over at Op/Ed News, Mike Mejia offers this additional information, concerning Grossman's ties to the Valerie Plame Wilson/Scooter Libby CIA leak case, in his coverage of the Times story...
Grossman, besides being a former policymaker at State, is known publicly as Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald’s first witness in the Scooter Libby trial. Libby was accused of perjury in the investigation of former CIA operative Valerie Plame, who was part of a CIA front company monitoring the global nuclear black market. At least one story claimed Grossman himself had leaked the identity of Plame’s front company, Brewster-Jennings, to Turkish agents in June, 2001. Though the story was never picked up by the mainstream media, if true, it would lead credence to the idea that the Brewster Jennings operation had already been compromised before the retaliation against Plame’s wife, former Ambassador Joe Wilson, by members of the Bush Administration.

Grossman is also being subpoenaed by the defense in the AIPAC espionage trial, along with several other officials who may have passed classified information to the powerful Israel-connected lobby group.

In addition, the Times article mentions Pentagon officials selling nuclear secrets to Turkey and Pakistan. AIPAC case figure Larry Franklin is discussed by Edmonds in the article. The whistleblower has suggested in separate interviews that Franklin’s supervisor at the Pentagon, Douglas Feith has been involved in the scandal, as well as prominent neoconservative and Feith associate Richard Perle.

UPDATE 1/7/08, 5:07pm PT: Former New York Times contributor, Dave Lindorff at Baltimore Chronicle, http://www.baltimorechro...8/010708Lindorff.shtml\">covers in detail, asks how Edmonds' story might tie in to the recent, and still unexplained, cross-country flyover of a B-52 with nuclear-tipped weapons on board, and closes by asking appropriately enough: "Meanwhile, there is enough in just this one London Times story to keep an army of investigative reporters busy for years. So why, one has to ask, is this story appearing in a highly respected British newspaper, but not anywhere in the corporate US media?"

Why, indeed, Dave.
All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately

Cheney & Halliburton Sells Iran Nuke Technology
http://knowyourbfee.blogspot.com/2006/05/know-your-bfee-cheney-halliburton-sold.html
The BFEE Offshore

In these days when illuminati bankers are conditioning false flag nukes coming from Iran, a story that we should remember:

___________________________________________
Dick Cheney Sold Iranian Oil Company Key Nuclear Reactor Components, Sources Say
http://worldnewstrust.org/modules/AMS/article.php?story...
August 05, 2005 By: Jason Leopold Independent Media TV

Scandal-plagued Halliburton -- the oil services company once headed by Vice President Cheney -- sold an Iranian oil development company key components for a nuclear reactor, say Halliburton sources with intimate knowledge into both companies' business dealings. Halliburton was secretly working at the time with one of Iran 's top nuclear program officials on natural gas related projects and sold the components in April to the official's oil development company, the sources said.
SNIP…
Now comes word that Halliburton, which has a long history of flouting U.S. law by conducting business with countries the Bush administration said has ties to terrorism, was working with Cyrus Nasseri, vice chairman of the board of directors of Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran's largest private oil companies, on oil and natural gas development projects in Tehran. Nasseri is also a key member of Iran's nuclear development team and has been negotiating Iran 's nuclear development issues with the European Union and at the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Nasseri was interrogated by Iranian authorities in late July for allegedly providing Halliburton with Iran 's nuclear secrets and accepting as much as $1 million in bribes from Halliburton, Iranian government officials said. During the first round of interrogations in the judiciary, a huge network of oil mafia has been exposed, according to the IPS report.

Trading With The Enemy

If you want to get round export controls, just sell the product to a front company in Dubai. The middlemen will take it from there. On paper the shipment was harmless enough. Sixty-six American-made spark gaps--high-speed electrical switches used in medical devices to break up kidney stones--traveled from the manufacturer in Salem, Massachusetts late last summer to a buyer in Secaucus, New Jersey. From there, according to the export declaration, they were to be shipped to their ultimate destination in Cape Town, South Africa. But these spark gaps can also be used to detonate nuclear bombs--and it turned out that the goods were aimed at an end user in Pakistan, with a stopover in Dubai. The commercial capital of the United Arab Emirates, where trading activity accounts for the biggest single chunk (16.5%) of a $20 billion economy, has become a favorite diversion point on the Persian Gulf for shady cargo. With no export controls and hardly any bureaucracy at ports, airports and free zones, this entrepôt provides stellar cover for smugglers hoping to bypass U.S. embargoes.
SNIP…
The open secret is that Dubai buys far more than it keeps. More than a quarter of its $23 billion in annual nonoil imports are reexported, and Iran gets the biggest share. Interviews with private businesspeople and U.S. officials, along with court documents, reveal a simple scheme. Companies located around the world sell goods--from cigarettes to medical devices and PCs--to buyers in the U.A.E. Dubai traders repackage the items and send them along by air or ship to agents in, say, Tehran, Pyongyang, Damascus or Islamabad.
SNIP…
Nevertheless, FORBES has obtained documents showing how Kala Ltd., the British arm of the National Iranian Oil Co., solicited at least 17 separate bids from the affiliate during 1997 and 1998 (when Vice President Cheney was Halliburton's chief executive). A few bids include handwritten notes that say "FOB Dubai Airport" or "FOB Dubai port"--meaning that the U.A.E. was just a way station between Halliburton and Tehran. Halliburton would not comment on the bids. In any event, earlier this year the Treasury Department reopened a 2001 inquiry into Halliburton's Iran operations and its Dubai-based partner.

From Kissinger's "Platform State" to the Plutonium Club-How the US Supplied Iran with Nuclear Know-How
http://www.counterpunch.org/landau09092005.html
By Saul Landau Counterpunch Weekend Edition September 9 / 11, 2005

EXCERPT…
Such stories provoke the question: how could Iran have obtained nuclear capabilities? Surely, those irresponsible former Soviet scientists must have sold them the technology, a colleague guessed. "Those people would sell anything after the fall of the Soviet Union."

Not quite! It was US policy, not anti-American Moslem fanaticism that led Iran directly into the nuclear age. In the late 1960s, Iran stood out as a model ally of the United States. After all, the ruling Shah owed the CIA after the Agency's operatives ousted elected Premier Mossadegh's government in 1953. CIA action followed Mossadegh's declaration that he would nationalize foreign oil holdings. The Shah understood loyalty to those who reinstalled his "royal family" to dictatorial power.

His servility won him nuclear access. "The US and her allies were in fact the driving force behind the birth of Iran's nuclear program in the late 1960s and early 1970s" (Mohammad Sahimi, Iran's Nuclear Program. Part I: Its History October 2003). By 1974, the Shah, after consulting with Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, boasted that nuclear power plants in Iran would soon produce more than 20,000 megawatts of energy. In the mid-1970s, led by Kissinger who saw in Iran a "platform state" to fight communism in the region, Washington proposed that The Shah expand his nuclear capacity by acquiring as many as twenty three nuclear reactors. According to Mohammad Sahimi, the work on the reactors began in 1974 with the help of MIT engineers who contracted to train Iranian nuclear technicians. Sahimi cites a speech by Sydney Sober, a State Department official who in October 1977, "declared that the Shah's government was going to purchase eight nuclear reactors from the US for generating electricity. On July 10, 1978, only seven months before the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the final draft of the US-Iran Nuclear Energy Agreement was signed. The agreement was supposed to facilitate cooperation in the field of nuclear energy and to govern the export and transfer of equipment and material to Iran's nuclear energy program. Iran was also to receive American technology and help in searching for uranium deposits." Why, asked critics, should a nation with huge oil and gas reserves invest in nuclear technology? Why not? Both General Electric and Westinghouse sold Iran reactors. These manufacturers of nuclear energy plants for the third world and their media acolytes regaled The Shah for his "westernizing policies," his far-sightedness in seeing beyond the age of oil.

CYRUS NASSERI ARRESTED
http://www.iran-press-service.com/ips/articles-2005/jul...
Iranian Press Service Posted Friday, July 29, 2005

PARIS, 29 July (IPS) Cyrus Nasseri, one of the senior Iranian negotiators with both the European Union’s so called “Big 3” and the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been arrested. Both “Baaztab” news service that belongs to Mr. Mohsen Reza’i, a former Commandeer of the Revolutionary Guards and the present secretary of the Expediency Council and the independent “Roshangari” said Mr. Nasseri has been arrested by the Judiciary investigating the consortium made of Oriental Kish and Halliburton -- which has US Vice President Dick Cheney as the Chairman of its Board of Directors -- awarded for the exploitation of phases 9 and 10 of the huge South Pars gas and oil field in the Persian Gulf. The information is so far not confirmed by the Iranian authorities and neither sites say when Mr. Nasseri, a carrier diplomat, had been arrested and the mobile telephone of Mr. Nasseri, an outspoken negotiator, was not responding on 29 July. According to Baztab, the phases 9 and 10 should yield 50 billions of natural gas and 400 tons of sulfides by the next Iranian year of 1385 for a cost of 282 millions US Dollars.

Halliburton sold nuclear equipment to Iran
http://peoplegetready.blogspot.com/2005/08/halliburton-sold-nuclear-equipment-to.html

Thanks to the Iraq reconstruction, Halliburton reported a 284 percent increase in its second quarter profits. Even as Halliburton manages the reconstruction of Iraq (now that we know there were no mushroom-cloud producing bombs there), the Bush administration's favorite military contractor has been making extra money on the side selling Iran nuclear centrifuges and detonators.

Halliburton started its relationship with Iran back in 1995 (while Dick Cheney was CEO), in violation of U.S. sanctions. In a post on his blog and published on CounterPunch, Jason Leopold quotes a "reliable source" at Halliburton who alleges that the energy services company was making nuclear deals with Iran, a country which the Bush administration says sponsors terrorism. But hey, it's okay, because this wasn't that Halliburton. No, not the same Halliburton in charge of the Iraq reconstruction. No, this was the non-American Halliburton registered in the Cayman Islands and based in Dubai. That Cayman Islands Halliburton is the real culprit here. Heck, their dirty dealings go back a long way:
In 1991, Halliburton sold Libya, another country that sponsors terrorism, nuclear detonator devices. The company paid more than $3 million in fines for violating a U.S. trade embargo that President Reagan imposed in 1986 because of Libya's ties to terrorist activities. Oh, sure, the Dallas-based Halliburton does get mail forwarded from the Cayman Islands Halliburton, but, you know, it's just so confusing for postal services to sort out. It's probably just a coincidence.

Halliburton operates in Iran despite sanctions

It's just another Halliburton oil and gas operation. The company name is emblazoned everywhere: On trucks, equipment, large storage silos and workers' uniforms. But this isn't Texas. It's Iran. U.S. companies aren't supposed to do business here.  Yet, in January, Halliburton won a contract to drill at a huge Iranian gas field called Pars, which an Iranian government spokesman said "served the interests" of Iran.   "I am baffled that any American company would want to have employees operating in Iran," says Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. "I would think they'd be ashamed."  Halliburton says the operation — videotaped by NBC News — is entirely legal. It's run by a subsidiary called "Halliburton Products and Services Limited," based outside the U.S. In fact, the law allows foreign subsidiaries of U.S. corporations to do business in Iran under strict conditions. Other U.S. oil services companies, like Weatherford and Baker Hughes, also are in Iran. And foreign subsidiaries of NBC's parent company, General Electric, have sold equipment to Iran, though the company says it will make no more sales. [But then they moved to Dubai so that Dick Cheney can continue to sell Iran nuclear technology to build up Neo-Con pundit fearmongering]

EXCLUSIVE: To Provoke War, Cheney Considered Proposal To Dress Up Navy Seals As Iranians And Shoot At Them
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/31/cheney-proposal-for-iran-war/
Speaking at the Campus Progress journalism conference earlier this month, Seymour Hersh — a Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist for The New Yorker — revealed that Bush administration officials held a meeting recently in the Vice President’s office to discuss ways to provoke a war with Iran. In Hersh’s most recent article, he reports that this meeting occurred in the wake of the overblown incident in the Strait of Hormuz, when a U.S. carrier almost shot at a few small Iranian speedboats. The “meeting took place in the Vice-President’s office. ‘The subject was how to create a casus belli between Tehran and Washington,’” according to one of Hersh’s sources. During the journalism conference event, I asked Hersh specifically about this meeting and if he could elaborate on what occurred. Hersh explained that, during the meeting in Cheney’s office, an idea was considered to dress up Navy Seals as Iranians, put them on fake Iranian speedboats, and shoot at them. This idea, intended to provoke an Iran war, was ultimately rejected:

HERSH: There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war. The one that interested me the most was why don’t we build — we in our shipyard — build four or five boats that look like Iranian PT boats. Put Navy seals on them with a lot of arms. And next time one of our boats goes to the Straits of Hormuz, start a shoot-up.  Might cost some lives. And it was rejected because you can’t have Americans killing Americans. That’s the kind of — that’s the level of stuff we’re talking about. Provocation. But that was rejected.

Watch it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slgBrbNXrbs

Hersh argued that one of the things the Bush administration learned during the encounter in the Strait of Hormuz was that, “if you get the right incident, the American public will support” it. “Look, is it high school? Yeah,” Hersh said. “Are we playing high school with you know 5,000 nuclear warheads in our arsenal? Yeah we are. We’re playing, you know, who’s the first guy to run off the highway with us and Iran.”

Transcript:

HERSH: There was a meeting. Among the items considered and rejected — which is why the New Yorker did not publish it, on grounds that it wasn’t accepted — one of the items was why not… There was a dozen ideas proffered about how to trigger a war. So I can understand the argument for not writing something that was rejected — uh maybe. My attitude always towards editors is they’re mice training to be rats.  But the point is jejune, if you know what that means. Silly? Maybe. But potentially very lethal. Because one of the things they learned in the incident was the American public, if you get the right incident, the American public will support bang-bang-kiss-kiss. You know, we’re into it.…What happened in the Gulf was, in the Straits, in early January, the President was just about to go to the Middle East for a visit. So that was one reason they wanted to gin it up. Get it going. Look, is it high school? Yeah. Are we playing high school with you know 5,000 nuclear warheads in our arsenal? Yeah we are. We’re playing, you know, who’s the first guy to run off the highway with us and Iran.

Update

Kevin Drum adds:

If this story sounds familiar, that's because it is. In one of David Manning's famous memos describing a prewar meeting between George Bush and Tony Blair, he says that Bush admitted that WMD was unlikely to be found in Iraq and then mused on some possible options for justifying a war anyway:

"The U.S. was thinking of flying U2 reconnaissance aircraft with fighter cover over Iraq, painted in U.N. colours," the memo says, attributing the idea to Mr. Bush. "If Saddam fired on them, he would be in breach."

In the end, of course, we didn't do this. We just didn't bother with any pretext at all.

Hersh: 'Executive assassination ring' reported directly to Cheney
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Hersh_US_has_been_running_executive_0311.html
Muriel Kane Published: Wednesday March 11, 2009

Investigative reporter Seymour Hersh dropped a bombshell on Tuesday when he told an audience at the University of Minnesota that the military was running an "executive assassination ring" throughout the Bush years which reported directly to former Vice President Dick Cheney. The remark came out seemingly inadvertently when Hersh was asked by the moderator of a public discussion of "America's Constitutional Crisis" whether abuses of executive power, like those which occurred under Richard Nixon, continue to this day. Hersh replied, "After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet." Hersh then went on to describe a second area of extra-legal operations: the Joint Special Operations Command. "It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently," he explained. "They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. ... Congress has no oversight of it." "It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on," Hersh stated. "Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us." Hersh told MinnPost.com blogger Eric Black in an email exchange after the event that the subject was "not something I wanted to dwell about in public." He is looking into it for a book, but he believes it may be a year or two before he has enough evidence "for even the most skeptical." Stories have been coming out about covert Pentagon assassination squads for the last several years. In 2003, Hersh himself reported on Task Force 121, which operated chiefly out of the Joint Special Operations Command. Others stories spoke of a proposed Proactive, Preemptive Operations Group. As Hersh noted in Minnesota, the New York Times on Monday described the Joint Special Operations Command as overseeing the secret commando units in Afghanistan whose missions were temporarily ordered halted last month because of growing concerns over excessive civilian deaths. However, it appears that Hersh is now on the trail of some fresh revelation about these squads and their connection to Vice-President Cheney that goes well beyond anything that has previously been reported.

Journalist Seymour Hersh speaking in Doha at an Al Jazeera forum on the media in 2007.

At a “Great Conversations” event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an “executive assassination ring.” Hersh spoke with great confidence about these findings from his current reporting, which he hasn’t written about yet. In an email exchange afterward, Hersh said that his statements were “an honest response to a question” from the event’s moderator, U of M Political Scientist Larry Jacobs and “not something I wanted to dwell about in public.” Hersh didn’t take back the statements, which he said arise from reporting he is doing for a book, but that it might be a year or two before he has what he needs on the topic to be “effective...that is, empirical, for even the most skeptical.” The evening of great conversation, featuring Walter Mondale and Hersh, moderated by Jacobs and titled “America’s Constitutional Crisis,” looked to be a mostly historical review of events that have tested our Constitution, by a journalist and a high government officials who had experience with many of the crises.

And it was mostly historical, and a great conversation, in which Hersh and Mondale talked about the patterns by which presidents seem to get intoxicated by executive power, frustrated by the limitations on that power from Congress and the public, drawn into improper covert actions that exceed their constitutional powers, in the belief that they can get results and will never be found out. Despite a few references to the Founding Fathers, the history was mostly recent, starting with the Viethnam War with much of it arising from the George W. Bush administration, which both men roundly denounced. At the end of one answer by Hersh about how these things tend to happen, Jacobs asked: “And do they continue to happen to this day?”

Replied Hersh:

“Yuh. After 9/11, I haven’t written about this yet, but the Central Intelligence Agency was very deeply involved in domestic activities against people they thought to be enemies of the state. Without any legal authority for it. They haven’t been called on it yet. That does happen. Right now, today, there was a story in the New York Times that if you read it carefully mentioned something known as the Joint Special Operations Command -- JSOC it’s called. It is a special wing of our special operations community that is set up independently. They do not report to anybody, except in the Bush-Cheney days, they reported directly to the Cheney office. They did not report to the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff or to Mr. [Robert] Gates, the secretary of defense. They reported directly to him. ...Congress has no oversight of it. It’s an executive assassination ring essentially, and it’s been going on and on and on. Just today in the Times there was a story that its leaders, a three star admiral named [William H.] McRaven, ordered a stop to it because there were so many collateral deaths. Under President Bush’s authority, they’ve been going into countries, not talking to the ambassador or the CIA station chief, and finding people on a list and executing them and leaving. That’s been going on, in the name of all of us. It’s complicated because the guys doing it are not murderers, and yet they are committing what we would normally call murder. It’s a very complicated issue. Because they are young men that went into the Special Forces. The Delta Forces you’ve heard about. Navy Seal teams. Highly specialized. In many cases, they were the best and the brightest. Really, no exaggerations. Really fine guys that went in to do the kind of necessary jobs that they think you need to do to protect America. And then they find themselves torturing people. I’ve had people say to me -- five years ago, I had one say: ‘What do you call it when you interrogate somebody and you leave them bleeding and they don’t get any medical committee and two days later he dies. Is that murder? What happens if I get before a committee.?’ But they’re not gonna get before a committee.”

[...]

And even Mondale admitted that one of his greatest successes, laws reforming the FBI and CIA in the aftermath of the Church Committee, were supposed to fix the problem so that “we would never have these problems again in the lifetime of anyone alive at the time, but of course we did.”

UNITED NATIONS – The U.S. delegation walked out of the U.N. speech of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday after he said some in the world have speculated that Americans were behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks, staged in an attempt to assure Israel's survival.

The U.S. delegation left the hall after Ahmadinejad said there were three theories about the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks:

That "powerful and complex terrorist group" penetrated U.S. intelligence and defenses.

"That some segments within the U.S. government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy and its grips on the Middle East in order also to save the Zionist regime. The majority of the American people as well as other nations and politicians agree with this view."

The Americans stood and walked out without listening to the third theory, that the attack was the work of "a terrorist group but the American government supported and took advantage of the situation."
