Former prime minister Kevin Rudd has been appointed to an unpaid part-time position on a "high-level" United Nations panel tackling global sustainability issues. Mr Rudd last month confirmed he had been approached by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to become involved with the United Nations project.

The appointment would require Mr Rudd to attend three meetings over the next 18 months.

Mr Ban said the 21-member High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability would be co-chaired by Finland’s President Tarja Halonen and South African President Jacob Zuma. It comprises current and former world leaders, top diplomats and national ministers.

Mr Ban said the panel would look at ways to combat global poverty through economic growth without contributing to global warming and harming the environment.

It would tackle "the intertwined challenges" posed by poverty, hunger, water and energy security, he said.

"In short, we need a new blueprint for a more livable, prosperous and sustainable future for all," he said.

The offer of the UN post loomed as a major question mark over Mr Rudd's future before he confirmed he would contest his Brisbane seat of Griffith in the August 21 federal election.

The new panel will deliver its report by the end of 2011, ahead of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development scheduled for 2012.

Mr Rudd would not receive any payments for his new role, a spokesman said.

''This appointment is entirely consistent with Mr Rudd’s work as a member of Parliament should he be re-elected at the coming election,'' the spokesman said.

"Mr Rudd has a strong commitment to building on the international agreements on climate change, having been an active participant in the Bali and Copenhagen meetings of the Conference of the Parties on climate change."

The panel would first meet in about a month’s time, he said.

so is it now possible to see clearly that all of these political officials are actually puppets for elite globalists that want an end to all sovereignty?
All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately

Nahhhh  :D

All the eco-hipsters will fawn over the Former PM and Former Opposition Leader Turnbull (Bankster) for being advocates of tackling "climate change" and will applaud Rudd's appointment.

In fact there's another "Walk against warming" 1 week before the election on August 21 (33 day campaign *hur hur) when in reality these hot air-fests are held each December (During the height of our summer).
