Gate agents for 9/11 flights
« on: January 31, 2009, 03:56:26 pm »
AFAICT, interviews with the actual 9/11 gate agents have never been released. I looked through the recently declassified MFR's and didn't see any gate agent interviews. If privacy is a concern it would be quite simple to redact their names. IMO, it is absurd to think any of them should feel guilty as they had no reason to be on the look out for suspect passengers. We have heard from Portland Jetport ticket agent Michael Touhey. One wonders why there is no media curiosity in regard to the actual 9/11 flights. AFAICT, Gail Jawahir was a check in desk agent and not the actual gate agent for Flight 175. Check in desk agent=someone who runs the ticket through the computer on arrival. Gate agent=person at the actual gate who checks in the passenger for boarding the plane. Some people have suggested the gate agents may not have remembered the passengers. This may or may not be true. The point is we don't know. Because the flights had low passenger counts there seems to be a good chance the gate agents remembered something.

Here is an account that suggests the gate agents could add a lot to the understanding of 9/11:

Quote
A United Airlines manager finds that a gate agent has already singled out boarding passes belonging to four suspicious passengers who were on Flight 93. Terri Rizzuto is the United Airlines station manager at Newark Airport, from where Flight 93 departed. Some time after hearing that this plane has crashed, she speaks on the phone with the FBI, which is requesting the plane’s manifest and its Passenger Name Record (PNR). After arranging permission to release these, she goes to Gate 17, from where she knows Flight 93 departed, wanting to talk to her staff there. When she arrives, a supervisor hands her four boarding passes. The supervisor tells her they are “The men, who did this maybe,” and points her toward one of the gate agents who had boarded the passengers onto the flight. When Rizzuto asks the gate agent, “How do you know?” he replies: “They were too well-dressed. Too well-dressed for that early in the morning. And their muscles rippled below their suits.… nd their eyes.” However, this report of men with rippling muscles contradicts the 9/11 Commission’s description of the so-called “muscle” hijackers (i.e. the non-pilot hijackers) on the four targeted planes: They “were not physically imposing,” with the majority of them being “slender in build.”

It's my understanding that Gail Jawahir is a gate agent. Based on this...

and

However it seems pretty obvious at this point that the names of the gate agents and baggage handlers for Flight 11 that delt with Atta and his bags which conviently never made the flight are being deliberatly kept secret. see...

Attas' bags not being loaded needs to be explained and no one has ever explained it and everyone involved is kept secret. His plane left Portland and arrived at Logan at 6:45 am. Flight 11 left Logan at 7:59 am so there is no excuse for his bags not being loaded. There was plenty of time to do it.

From the posted links it appears Jawahir was a check in ticketing agent. As you have noted in other threads, the gate agents' accounts are nowhere to be found. Also we have never seen any footage of the Dulles/Newark departure lounges. DNA analysis took quite some time so that isn't how the FBI ID'ed the hijackers. Originally CNN reported that suspected hijackers were the Bukhari brothers and Mosear Canad so that makes one wonder about the integrity of the released manifests. Also (as you mentioned elsewhere) the strange addition of Hanjour to the Flight 77 manifest.
