I recently had a conversation with someone trying to persuade them to vote for Ron Paul. I said that he was the only candidate who was for civil liberties and the abolition of the patriot act. They replied, what about John Edwards? I didn't really have a reply. I looked into him.
These are his positives:
He wants a full Iraq withdrawal in 9 to 10 months.
He wants an open media and free internet.
He disagrees with the patriot act. (although his policy is not clear on what he would do about it)
He has attacked Hilary on her links to Blackwater.
He is publicly funded and claims that this is to take on elite interests.
He is fairly pro-gun.
The clear negatives that I found were that.
He attended Bilderberg in 2004 and it is suggested that this is how he got to become Kerry's running mate.
He believes Iran is supporting terror in Iraq and has on occasion expressed aggressive intent towards there. (However, if you read his stand on Iran, it is a hell of a lot more moderate than most out there.)
I am playing devil's advocate here because I don't believe that this is enough to write anyone off, although I am as a default position skeptical about any presidential candidate. If you read
http://www.johnedwards.com/issues/ and believe it, there is not a lot in there to suggest that he has a malign intent. Also check out his record
http://www.ontheissues.org/John_Edwards.htm.
I am aware that he is very much
Pro Universal Health Care
Campaigning on an environmental climate change platform.
However, just because you are for these things does not make you a bad person. Both these issues are complex and are tough to decide what is best on the evidence. Many people support both on a moral basis which can't be denied even if you don't agree with the science and evidence behind them. I don't want to turn this thread into a debate on those issues. I have plenty of friends who have spent their lives campaiging for social justice and against elite interests but have various positions on those two issues. I myself remain undecided.
What I would like to know is how does anyone
know that John Edwards is really part of the Global Elite and pursuing a NWO agenda? On paper there is not enough objective evidence that I have seen to say for definite that he is. The Bilderberg meeting is not a very good start, but it is possible for a man to make missteps, be mislead and have a change of heart in 3 years. He certainly has a record of taking on elite interests.
So if I am missing anything about him, please put it here. I am a staunch Ron Paul supporter and bottom line I want to be able to convince people (and in particular democrats) that he is clearly the most pro-freedom and liberty candidate. At present as far as I know there is little you can say to someone who is a John Edwards supporter, particularly if they are already pro universal health care and convinced about man made global warming.
Alex Jones is always saying that you should go out and check things for yourself. That's what I did and this is as far as I've got. Please make your contributions below.
