Sounds like a political hit. What do you bet they're just trying to demonize the freedom movement. It's growing and the establishment's scared. Jan Lindsey is an ex-FBI agent and tax resister featured in Aaron Russo's America: Freedom To Fascism He's the Nevada State Coordinator for The We The People People Foundation.

http://www.lasvegasnow.com/global/story.asp?s=9962380Four people arrested in a raid involving tax evasion and weapons charges appeared in federal court Friday afternoon. Authoritites say the men are suspected of being leaders of an anti-government movement called Soverign Movement. The FBI tells Eyewitness News that this raid goes beyond just Las Vegas. Federal agents raided seven different locations in Nevada, Idaho and also Arizona and this was the result of a three-year investigation. The scene in a neighborhood near Charleston and Cimarron was chaotic Thursday morning as federal agents from the FBi and ATF targeted a home on Gunther Circle and began removing items, including guns. Neighbors who witnessed the scene say they saw agents pull as many as 40 weapons from the home. The bomb squad was also called to the neighborhood and neighbors say items were loaded into a cylinder and taken away. "Blasting caps and whatever they had they loaded that and took it out," said Jim Ashness, neighbor. Ashness describes his neighbor, Harold Call, who was arrested at the home, as a quiet character. An unsealed indictment shows Call charged with numerous counts of illegally possessing an unregistered machine gun. Authorities allege that Call is one of the leaders of the Nevada Lawmen Group for Public Awareness, a group that is associated with the Sovereign Movement group. At least three other people were also arrested. They are identified as Jan Alan Lindsey, who is a retired FBI agent and alleged to also be a leader of Nevada Lawmen Group for Public Awareness, Samuel Davis, who is allegedly the national leader of the Soverign Movement and Shawn Rice. Lindsey is charged various counts of income tax evasion, Davis and Rice are facing money laundering charges.

What I found odd about this was that part of the reason for this FBI raid was over tax evasion. I mean since when has TAX EVASION become an offense where it's THIS life threatening?

In my opinion this is how it works. First they find out you are armed. Then they find any thing you have done illegal. Send in a confidential informant to work out the details. BOOM!! POLICE!! SEARCH WARRANT!! Makes you wonder if there are any unpaid parking tickets in your past. It is viewed as busting up an alleged anti-government movement when in all truth they are disarming citizens.

I agree.
In America it is not illegal to be in an "anti-government movement" either.
What the hell does that mean, anyway? We can say whatever we want about government. Freedom of Speech? Right? Why do we have this right? Primarily so we can say whatever we want about our government and how it's screwing things up, I do believe.
Say I disagree with something W. did. I guess that means I am in an "anti-government movement". There's definitely more than one of us.

It's very similar to the tactics TPTB used against the gangsters during Prohibition. The cops couldn't pin any shoot-outs, murders, crimes, etc. to the big time gangsters so they used tax laws to lock them up instead. A tried and true method. If TPTB can't pin anything on somebody, they just bust out the IRS and go for the tax evasion charges.

We have breached the summit of commonsense and have found it has all but disappeared. Having not been taught that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is the Law of the Land our Federal Law Enforcement Morons ( FLEM`s ) don't know any better. Their programming does not allow for dissenting voices and they couldn't mentally process that type of information to begin with. Thinking outside the box is forbidden and only those without the ability of independent thought are allowed to enter the hallowed hall of FLEM.
Those veteran agents still serving within the new FLEM structure are exempt from the above statement unless they have sold out and have decided to go with the program.
Our rouge tyrannical government is now taking lessons from the past and applying the as they see fit, arresting someone for anti-govt beliefs or speech was tried some time ago, I believe it was called the Sedition Act and was found to be Unconstitutional at that time, but because of the apathy and lack of knowledge the majority of the people fail to recognize this and will not take the time to challenge it, therefore we ( they ) reap what they have sown.

I do not understand. What terrorism did they engage in? If you speak out against the government, how is that terrorism? If you own guns, how is that terrorism? Was there any actual crime that they committed?

The journalist claims that they call for violence, is that true? (actual question i have no idea)
And here are the charges: "Call is charged with possession of an unregistered machine gun. Lindsey is charged with tax evasion."
But they are portraying anyone in that group as terrorists.
I am curious where the link to terrorism is.

Ok, so I think you all know me well enough to know I don't sound alarm bells very much. Well. I'm sounding one. If you are at all involved in the state soviergnty movement, you may now be considered officialy a terrorist 4 arrested in Nev. probe of anti-government group LAS VEGAS (AP) - Four members of an anti-government group have been arrested on charges that include money laundering, tax evasion and weapons possession, federal prosecutors said Friday.
Authorities said the four men are members of the Sovereign Movement, a group that attempts to overthrow the government and defy authority with "paper terrorism." The arrests in Las Vegas on Thursday capped a three-year investigation into the group's activities led by the Nevada Joint Terrorism Task Force, U.S. Attorney for Nevada Greg Brower said.
A grand jury indictment in federal court in Las Vegas names Samuel Davis, 54, of Council, Idaho; Shawn Rice, 46, of Seligman, Ariz.; Harold Call, 67, of Las Vegas; and Jan Lindsey, of Henderson.
Davis and Rice are accused of laundering roughly $1.3 million for undercover FBI agents, who described the money as loot from a bank fraud scheme. Davis and Rice are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering and 30 counts of money laundering. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine on each count.
Davis was described by prosecutors as a national leader in the Sovereign Movement, whose members believe government licenses, taxes and currency are invalid. Rice described himself as a lawyer and rabbi devoted to anti-government teaching, authorities said.
Davis and Rice pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas late Friday. Call and Lindsey also were due to appear in court. Authorities did not know if the four had lawyers.
Brower's office said Call and Lindsey, a retired FBI agent, are leaders of the Nevada Lawmen Group for Public Awareness, a group affiliated with the Sovereign Movement.
Call is accused of possessing an unregistered machine gun, as well as parts designed to convert manual firearms into automatic weapons.
He faces two counts of possession and transfer of a machine gun and three counts of possession of an unregistered machine gun. If convicted, he could get up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count.
Lindsey is charged with one count of evasion of payment of tax and four counts of evasion of assessment of tax. He faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20090307/D96P1UJ80.html

Nothing to do with state sovereignty or sovereignty in general. They were apparently money laundering and had unregistered assault rifles. Reading the entire article it sounds as if they were setup by the feds to begin with.
