What If?

February 12, 2009

What if we wake up one day and realize that the terrorist threat is a predictable consequence of our meddling in the affairs of others?

What if propping up repressive regimes in the Middle East endangers both the United States and Israel?

What if occupying countries like Iraq and Afghanistan – and bombing Pakistan – is directly related to the hatred directed toward us and has nothing to do with being free and prosperous?

What if someday it dawns on us that losing over 5,000 American military personnel in the Middle East since 9/11 is not a fair trade-off for the loss of nearly 3,000 American citizens, no matter how many Iraqi, Pakistani, and Afghan people are killed or displaced?

What if we finally decide that torture, even if called “enhanced interrogation techniques,” is self-destructive and produces no useful information – and that contracting it out to a third world nation is just as evil?

What if it is finally realized that war and military spending is always destructive to the economy?

What if all wartime spending is paid for through the deceitful and evil process of inflating and borrowing?

What if we finally see that wartime conditions always undermine personal liberty?

What if conservatives, who preach small government, wake up and realize that our interventionist foreign policy provides the greatest incentive to expand the government?

What if conservatives understood once again that their only logical position is to reject military intervention and managing an empire throughout the world?

What if the American people woke up and understood that the official reasons for going to war are almost always based on lies and promoted by war propaganda in order to serve special interests?

What if we as a nation came to realize that the quest for empire eventually destroys all great nations?

What if Obama has no intention of leaving Iraq?

What if a military draft is being planned for the wars that will spread if our foreign policy is not changed?

What if the American people learn the truth: that our foreign policy has nothing to do with national security and that it never changes from one administration to the next?

What if war and preparation for war is a racket serving the special interests?

What if President Obama is completely wrong about Afghanistan and it turns out worse than Iraq and Vietnam put together?

What if Christianity actually teaches peace and not preventive wars of aggression?

What if diplomacy is found to be superior to bombs and bribes in protecting America?

What happens if my concerns are completely unfounded – nothing!

What happens if my concerns are justified and ignored – nothing good!

It's a shame people wanted a cult of personality instead of this man who actually stands for something. Perhaps if Ron Paul used more buzzwords, had hired actors faint during his speeches and called his supporters the Wave he would have been president now and you could now once again proudly say you are American, when speaking to someone from another nation.

Ron Paul is speaking to the deaf, dumb, ambitious and blind. Their hearts are hardend and their heads are empty of moral character and reasoning. There use to be a time when voices such as his made-up a significant number of those who claim to represent us. Today, he is an outspoken and fearless minority at a time when we need a moral voice of common sense, sound judgement and reason.  We are truly in trouble!

Great American, honor and courage, a combination that is frowned upon by our political greedmongering halfwits.

The Silent majority is the greatest weapon of the regime. Most refer to them as sheeple, I still call them SM's for a reason.
During the war in Nam a politician said on the air," We know what the silent majority wants, and were giving it to them." Assinine remark at the very least.

Things are going on in this nation that even the Sm's can't hide from.
Ron Pauls words should be on the cover of time, however the majority would ridicule his strait forward  truth. They are accustomed to the lies, and prefer them.

This nation originated with the act of courage, yes, lives on the line for freedom and independence, non acceptance of tyranny.

For the people and by the people is an antiquated statement, or let me rephrase that, it is not in effect. We are a controlled society, and they have given us the carrot, now its time for the stick.
The land of the free?Huh?? The home of the brave?Huh?

Bye, bye American Pie, the regime and their playmates ate it and smashed the plate it came on. The regime is not very pleased with us for speaking truths, they prefer flag wiggling braindead, illusionary bubble people.

DAMN GREAT SPEECH. But what if most americans dont watch c-span? what if no matter
how many americans know the truth, TRUE change still wont be achievable. what if there is no
hope for this nation, and more gravely, this world? Thank god for the interenet, our most recent,
unbiased realm of information. Hi I'm new here, and maybe 2-3 years ago i thought Bush was
a good president. and then I got internet access, and I saw how much more goes on then what
"FAUX News" says it does.

He is a true servant of the people, unlike most in Washington! I'm glad he has finally gotten the support of Americans. It's about time a REAL PATRIOT IN WASHINGTON got that support, and that people are waking up!

Thanks, Dr. Paul, you are my Paul Revere and will always be respected for your strength as a REAL MAN who hasn't shirked his duties on Capitol Hill. All I can say for the rest is - YOU ARE A BUNCH OF CHILDISH BOUGHT OFF FOOLS!

I said awhile back in a comment that good people like Ron Paul were only serving as collaborators by remaining in "Congress", that they should get out and work on forming Committees of Correspondence. Seeing this preformance of his, I have to take that back. To think that this speech was going out on national television! Magnificent job, Congressman Ron Paul!

Personally, I don't agree with his whole platform but you have to give this to the guy...he atleast give a crap about us and has proven time and time again that he will not sell his soul to the devil.  He could've easily beaten out McCain (who went from being the Democrat's Republican, to unelectable to almost winning a fixed-election).  He could've probably been that ticket.  His ideas are true to the conservatives, which tend to slide to the Republican party but he is way too stubborn and way too much of an actual Humanatarian to make promises to B-Group.

Ron Paul is such a great man, with integrity and courage. He goes up against those nasty criminal gangsters everyday, and isn't intimidated.

I was really ticked off when they deleted that. I was spreading that speech like wildfire. I do have to admit though the grilling of Bernanke series are simply awesome to show people for the first time as well!

I really admire Ron Paul's courage and intelligence in trying to influence positive change through financial and economic understanding.  Our govt has been debasing our currency for way too long and it has gotten particularly dangerous in the past couple years.  Unfortunately most other elected officials are too stupid to know or care about these problems, so one of the only other ways for the average person to protect him or herself from this is to invest in gold related assets.  I was recently reading some articles on http://www.goldalert.com about gold and the gold price given the govt's money printing ways.
