Does anyone know how much the federal government takes in tax revenue a year, like how much they took in 2007?  I m sure the results for 2008 are not out yet but it would be interesting to compare the two years.  I am curious because I would like to see how big a chunk these bailouts are out of all the federal tax revenue taken in a year.

Secondly does anyone know what GDP was for 2007 or 2008?

thanks for helping understanding what percent these bailouts are of all the funds the fed has to play with would really help put these mega numbers in perspective for me.
