The four rockets that hit Beersheba were filled with 1500 metal balls each that can scatter up to 100 meters from the impact site, officials said. These rockets have also been fired into Ashkelon and Ashdod.
Yes - these metal balls were fired and still are, upon Israeli cities and innocent citizens - NOT ARMY BASES, so that dozens of these metallic balls would hit and kill as many citizens as possible.

"...as future generations are plagued by cancers and birth defects."
You mean the kids that are already being used as human shields by Hamas? : [link]

Or the ones that are brainwashed by Hamas to be human shields and as a graduation ceremony dressed as soldiers with guns? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbL70wWGM8M

Yeah, i can see great future for this future generation even without these FALSE accusations.

How about the missiles Hamas are launching at ISRAEL CITIES [link]

Hamas uses children and schools and hospitals as shields - hence the high number of innocent victims - Because the Hamas uses them as shields upon IDF bombings that are targeted Hamas.

Lol. Okay. We'll just attack our allies. That will go over well.

If the United States was to help any side in this conflict, of course they would help Israel. They're allies.

I'm glad to see Gaza hates Obama so much. I don't like Obama either, but when I see people from Gaza saying such terrible things about him and his cabinet, calling them zionists and whatnot, it just makes me worry more and more about the coming World War III.

Anti-NWO?  Huh?  Israel is a key part of the NWO, and the neocon defenders of Israel are a key part of the last 8 years of planned nightmares for this country.

Israel is illegally, and in violation of UN resolutions, occupying land of Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Palestine.  They have blockcaded Gaza.  Yes Hamas has fired rockets into Israel  - I would too if they were occupying my land and starving my children.  17 Israeli's have died in Hamas rocket attacks over the last few years - more Israelis have died in car crashes or been killed in mob shootouts.  Israel has murdered over 600 Gaza Palestinians, 33% women and children.

The Israeli propaganda mainstay

07/01/2009 11:50:00 PM GMT
http://aljazeera.com/news/articles/39/The_Israeli_propaganda_mainstay.html

Those sympathetic to Israel - can there really be any who still wish to be associated with such appalling crimes? - will be mortified to know that Sderot has no business being where it is.

By Stuart Littlewood

Sderot is a lie (like everything else)

Sderot, the Israeli township on which Hamas rockets have been “raining down”, is the main plank of the Israelis' attempt to justify the bloodshed they have inflicted on the people of Gaza.

They use it ad nauseam to brainwash the media and their own people. They have studiously counted and broadcast the number of erratic, home-made Qassam rockets coming into Israel, without ever admitting to the huge number of missiles, bombs and shells that Israel's high-tech military fires into Gaza with much more deadly effect.

(Watch video: Israeli guns bombard Gaza in escalation of Hamas war) :
http://www.aljazeera.com/mm/video/video.php?op=showvideo&vidid=896

(Watch video: Doctor decries Israeli attacks) :
http://www.aljazeera.com/mm/video/video.php?op=showvideo&vidid=899

Those sympathetic to Israel - can there really be any who still wish to be associated with such appalling crimes? - will be mortified to know that Sderot has no business being where it is. It is built on the lands of a Palestinian village called Najd, which was ethnically cleansed by Jewish terrorists in May 1948, before Israel was declared a state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. The 600+ villagers, were forced to flee for their lives. Britain was on watch as the mandated government, while this and many other atrocities were committed by terrorists.

Palestinian Arabs owned over 90 percent of the land in Najd and, according to UN Resolution 194 and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, they have a right to return home.

But as we have come to expect, Israel refuses to recognise the rights of others and will not allow them back. Anyway, what is there for them to return to?

The 82 homes there were bulldozed. Najd was one of 418 Palestinian villages and towns ethnically cleansed and wiped off the map by Zionist Jews. Its inhabitants, presumably, became refugees in Gaza and their families are probably still living in camps there. The sweet irony is that some of them were probably manning the rocket launchers…. Well, wouldn’t you?

Several months ago when Barak Obama visited Sderot (he didn't have the gumption to call in on Gaza) he spouted the well-worn mantra backing Israel's right to protect its citizens from rocket attacks. "If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I would do everything to stop that, and would expect Israel to do the same thing." Well said, Obama. But presumably you wouldn't be so stupid or arrogant as to live on land stolen from your neighbour at the point of a gun.

Find yourself some new advisers, Obama, ones that are savvy enough to brief you on the facts about Sderot and everything else about the Palestinians’ plight. Relying on Israeli propaganda lies will only make you look like another mindless Zionist tool.

As the slaughter goes off the dial, what pearls of wisdom are we getting from the EU?

The Czech EU presidency spokesman defended Israel, saying: "We understand this step as a defensive, not offensive, action." Czech foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg, currently leading a EU delegation to the region, said Israel had the right to defend itself, clearly reading off Israeli notes and forgetting that the Palestinians have an equal right to self defence. "Let us realize one thing: Hamas increased steeply the number of rockets fired at Israel since the ceasefire ended on Dec.19,"

This staunch ally of Washington understands nothing, as demonstrated when he went on to say that Hamas had excluded itself from serious political debate due to its rocket attacks on Israel. "Why am I one of the few that have expressed understanding for Israel? ... I am enjoying the luxury of telling the truth," said Schwarzenberg. This would have been achingly funny if ignorance at such a senior level weren’t so dangerous! Those silly words earned him a cringe-making thank-you from none other than American Jewish Committee.

30 December 2008

Dear Minister Schwarzenberg:

On behalf of the American Jewish Committee, we write to thank you for your unwavering public recognition of Israel’s right to self-defense against repeated rocket and mortar attacks from Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Your recent comments once again demonstrated the courage and moral clarity of your support for a fellow democracy, Israel, in the face of an unrelenting terrorist threat.

We applaud your principled leadership and your commitment to, in your words, “telling the truth.” We will continue to rely upon both as the Czech Republic assumes the presidency of the European Union….

Respectfully,

Richard J. Sideman

David A. Harris

This is what happens when a juggernaut like the EU finds itself ‘led’ by a dumb-ass nobody in an hour of crisis. Back in the 1940s the Czechs supplied Jewish terrorists with weapons to be used against the British. How dare you, Schwarzenberg, make us Brits accomplices in Israel’s crimes? Taint yourself if you wish, but DON’T TAINT US!

Sarkozy of France told the Lebanese press that the Hamas ''bears major responsibility for the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza, because it decided to break the truce and begin launching rockets again into Israel.'' Another one who doesn’t do his homework before opening his mouth.

And where is Blair our wonder peace-envoy in all this? Still trying to find the balls to go see Hamas. He says: "We are doing everything we possibly can to bring about an end to a situation of immense suffering and deprivation. I know over next few days there are going to be intensive diplomatic efforts. We will increase our efforts to bring about a resolution to this situation."

So why haven’t there been intensive efforts before now? How many must die or be maimed before you pull your finger out? Tell you what, Tony, if the Israelis won’t listen, say to them in a nice clear voice: “Ceasefire immediately or say goodbye to economic and technological co-operation.” If they still act deaf, you could add: “Say goodbye to your London embassy also. You loons are not taking us Brits down with you.”

Meantime Livni reiterated her country's position, that it was Hamas and not the Palestinian people that were the targets: "This is a war against terror... we have nothing against the Palestinians." Great. So why does your illegal occupation continue? Why are you still making their lives a misery? Why slaughter their kids? Why trash their infrastructure and public institutions?

Today, I think the last (and most chilling) word goes to Dr Mahmoud Al-Zahar, a co-founder of Hamas. He warned: "They [the Israelis] have legitimised the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine. They have legitimised the destruction of their synagogues and their schools by hitting our mosques and our schools."

Al-Zahar knows all about a father’s grief. He has been the target of assassination attempts. His two sons were killed and his daughter injured in Israeli raids.

Why Do So Few Speak Up for Gaza?

By Robert Scheer

Why are we so indifferent to the death and destruction in Gaza?

The major news outlets meekly accepted Israel’s banning of journalists from entering Gaza as an excuse for downplaying collateral civilian casualties, our president-elect, Barack Obama, has had little to say about an invasion that will much complicate his future Mideast peace efforts, and most commentators easily rationalize Israel’s many-more-eyes-for-an-eye killings.

Why is it that there is such widespread acceptance, beginning with the apologetic arguments of President Bush, that whatever Israel does is always justified as necessary to the survival of the Jewish state?

It is not.

While the Hamas rocket attacks are reprehensible, they are also an ineffectual challenge to Israel’s enormous security apparatus, and the severity of Israel’s response to them is counterproductive. Clearly, the very existence of Israel is not now, nor has it ever been, seriously challenged by anything the Palestinians did. Not back in 1948, when Israel was established as a state with insignificant Palestinian military resistance, nor at the time of the 1967 Six-Day War when Egypt, Syria and Jordan fought Israel.

The Palestinians were in no position to confront the Israeli army, because those whose lands were not already occupied by Israel were living under oppressive Egyptian control in Gaza and tough Jordanian rule in the West Bank. After the speedy Israeli victory, which demolished the myth of the new state’s vulnerability, the Palestinians became imprisoned as a people by Israel for crimes they had not committed.

Even if we accept the harshest portrayal of the tactics and motives of the Palestinian movements against Israel after the Six-Day War, at what point did that terrorism represent a serious challenge to the survival of the Jewish people or the state that claims to speak in their name? Yet that survival is invoked to justify the vastly excessive use of force by the Israeli war machine, with frequent allusions to the Holocaust previously visited upon the Jewish people, a holocaust that had nothing to do with Palestinians or Muslims, and everything to do with Central Europeans claiming to be Christians.

The high moral claim of the Israeli occupation rests not on the objective reality of a Palestinian threat to Israel’s survival, but rather on the non sequitur cry that “never again” should harm come to Jews as it did in Central Europe seven decades ago.

The basic argument is that Palestinian terrorists represented by Hamas are given to an irrational hatred of Jews so profound that it invalidates their movement, even when they win elections. That was not the view of the Israeli security service when it earlier supported Hamas as the alternative to the then dreaded PLO. Also, history is replete with examples of terrorists becoming statesmen, even within the early ranks of Jews fighting to establish the state of Israel.

One of those was Menachem Begin, who went on to be an elected leader of the new state. But before Begin attained that respectability, back in 1948 when he visited the United States, a group of prominent Jewish intellectuals including Albert Einstein, Sidney Hook and Hannah Arendt wrote a letter to The New York Times warning that Begin was a former leader of the “Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.” The letter urged Jews to shun Begin, arguing, “It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin’s political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.”

Begin’s new party was then participating in the Israeli election, and Einstein and his colleagues, many of whom like the physicist had been victims of German fascism, stated, “Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character.”

Those actions were then detailed in the letter. They included the systematic terrorizing of innocent Palestinian men, women and children in an effort to force them to flee the territory that Begin’s party claimed for the new state of Israel.

Clearly Begin and his political heirs, who include Benjamin Netanyahu, the most likely victor in the next Israeli election, evolved in their behavior. But I bring it up now to highlight the one-sided reporting of the current phase of this interminable conflict and to wonder: Where are the voices that reflect the uncompromising morality of Einstein’s generation of Jewish intellectuals willing to acknowledge fault and humanity on both sides of the political equation?

Israels response is always the same.
The Battle of Jenin took place from April 3 to April 11, 2002 in the Palestinian Authority administered refugee camp of Jenin, in the West Bank. The battle was fought between the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Palestinian forces as part of Operation Defensive Shield, during the Second Intifada.

As part of the operation, which involved incursions into West Bank cities and towns, Israel targeted the refugee camp of Jenin, after it deemed that the camp had "served as a launch site for numerous terrorist attacks against both Israeli civilians and Israeli towns and villages in the area",[3]

During the fighting, a rapid cycle of rumors purported that a massacre of as many as thousands of Palestinians had occurred.[4] While Jenin remained sealed during the invasion, stories of civilians being buried alive in their homes as they were demolished, and of smoldering buildings covering crushed bodies, spread throughout the Arab world. Various casualty figures circulated as Palestinian sources, as well as human rights organizations, described the events as "the Jenin massacre" in the international media.

While a large area in the camp was destroyed as a result of the fighting, subsequent investigations found no evidence to substantiate claims that a massacre had taken place. However, human rights organizations held on to allegations of war crimes being committed in the fighting and criticized the conduct of both sides. The final death toll was confirmed at from 52 to 56 Palestinians – anywhere between 5 and 26 of whom were estimated to have been civilians – while 23 IDF soldiers were killed as well.

Palestinian fighters kill Israeli soldier, claim extensive action throughout Gaza
Ma'an news

Jan 8, 2009

Bethlehem – Ma’an
– One Israeli soldier was killed during fighting with Palestinian fighters in the Gaza Strip on Thursday.

The Israeli military said the soldier was killed by an anti-tank missile.

In other activity by the Palestinian armed groups, more rockets and homemade projectiles were fired into Israel from Gaza in response to the Israeli invasion. Palestinian guerillas also claimed to be engaged in battles with Israeli forces throughout the Gaza Strip.

Israeli sources confirmed that one projectile landed in Ashkelon, causing no injuiries. Another landed in the Eshkol area east of Gaza, moderately wounding 14. A larger, Russian-made Grad missile also landed on Ashkelon, causing no damage.

Six projectiles and missiles landed in the Negev, as far away as Beersheba, far to the west of Gaza, overnight. No one was injured.

Hamas’ military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades claimed responsibility for the Grad missile that hit Ashkelon. The group also said they fired three homemade projectiles at the border town of Sderot.

Hamas fighters also claimed to have fired Grad missiles at the port city of Ashdod and said they fired four RPGs at a house in the Gaza Strip town of Jabaliya where Israeli undercover forces had positioned themselves.

The Al-Aqsa Brigades, the armed wing of Fatah claimed responsibility for detonating a bomb near Israeli armored vehicles east of the As-Salteen neighborhood north of Gaza

Al-Aqsa Brigades also said they fired two projectiles at the Israeli town of Azzata and two others at the Kisufim military installation, bordering central Gaza.

The Salah Ad-Din Brigades, the armed wing of the Popular Resistance committees, said it shelled two groups of Israeli soldiers and armored vehicles in the east of the Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza City and the town of Juhor Ad-Dik with 17 projectiles.
The Salah Ad-Din Brigades claimed joint responsibility with the Al-Aqsa Brigades for shelling Kisufim and an air force base in the Western Negev.

The National Resistance Brigades, the armed wing of the DFLP, Al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, claimed they blew up an Israeli tank using two explosive devices in Juhor Ad-Dik, and using for using RPGs in clashes with Israeli soldiers in Beit Lahiya and in an area called Souq As-Sayarat (Car Market), in the east of Gaza City.

Palestinian fighters also said they fired four projectiles and clashed with Israeli forces east of Al-Bureij Refugee Camp, in central Gaza.

Beit Hanoun, Gaza.

I’ve been working with the Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance services in Jabaliya, Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya for the past 5 days and nights.

For the past five days the Red Cross and the Red Crescent emergency services have been blocked from evacuating the injured and the dead from key areas surrounding Jabaliya and Gaza City. Special Forces have occupied houses in the areas of Zeitoun, Atarturah, Zoumo and Salahedeen.

Paramedic Ali Khalil’s team was shot at on Monday afternoon. He told me, 'We had been told we had the go-ahead from the Israeli army through co-ordination with the Red Cross but when we arrived at the area we were shot at. We had to turn back'. Yesterday afternoon, a medical volunteer, Hassan, was shot in the leg as he and his colleague had to drop the stretcher they were carrying after coming under Israeli sniper fire. There are reports of scores of dead bodies lying in the streets un-claimed. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society estimates there are 230 injured which they haven’t been able to pick up.

There are reports of 18 corpses in one home alone and the injured dying from treatable wounds because of a lack of access to medical treatment.

Last night, at around 9pm, Marwan, an experienced paramedic, bearing the scars of years of Israeli invasions, sustained another yet another. He was shot in the leg by an Israeli sniper in Eastern Jabaliya. Gnarled by his work, picking up the pieces after Israeli attacks, he had said only the day before yesterday, 'This is no life, its better to die, it would be better to be dead than this shit’.

The blockade on any rescuing is reminiscent of the battle of Jenin in April 2002. Israel forbade ambulances from entering the camp, blowing up one with a tank shell and killing Dr Khalil Sulleiman, the Head of the Palestinian Red Crescent. The army cut water and electricity and bulldozed an entire neighbourhood, complete with residents still in their homes, over the course of 11 days. The death count in the 11-day Jenin massacre was 58, but estimated to be much higher. Here in Jabaliya, this is the equivalent to around 4 days in the past week or almost the whole of yesterday. Between December 27th and January 5th, in Jabaliya alone, 119 people had been killed and 662 injured. An average of 15 people are dying, violently, every day. On January 6th, with the Fakhoura school massacre, 50 people were killed in just one day. Hospital authorities mark the day as the single worst day they have ever seen in Jabaliya.

Sporadic battles are taking place between Palestinian resistance fighters, armed with basic machine guns, the odd grenade, and warm clothes. They’re up against the fourth most powerful army in the world, armed with state-of-the-art war planes, Merkava tanks, regional governmental co-ordination and intelligence, a green light to kill with impunity in the name of self defence, body armor, night vision, and holidays in Goa when it all gets too much.

The paramedics, drivers and volunteers at the emergency services risk their lives every time they leave their base and even working within their bases.

Medics evacuated their original base near Salahadeen street due to heavy shelling from Israeli forces early last week. They then moved to the Al Awda Hospital in Beit Lahiya because again, it was too close to the battle front, and again to a community centre in Moaskar Jabaliya to be 'safer’.

However, against a backdrop of deafening crashes and bangs of bombs falling close by, on Monday at 12.45pm, an Israeli surveillance plane fired two missiles into the Al Awda Hospital compound. The first slammed into a police car, the second, impacted two minutes later into the ground just meters in front of the Hospital’s clinic. Two rescue workers were injured in the head and face, but we were all lucky to escape without any serious damage.

Right now we’re back at the Jabaliya base, still close to the sound of pounding tank shells, apache strikes, and light gunfire met with staggering rapid fire 50 caliber tank-gun fire, the odd grenade and the ever menacing and maddening sneer of surveillance drones.

Yesterday around 1am we were called out to a strike in the Moaskar Jabaliya area. The area was pitch black, our feeble torches lighting up broken pipes streaming water, glass, chunks of concrete and twisted metal. 'They’re down there, down there, take care’, people said. The smell of fresh severed flesh, a smell that can only come from the shedding of pints of blood and open insides, was in the air. I got called back by a medic who screamed at me to stay by his side. It turned out Id been following the Civil Defence, the front line responders who check to see if buildings are safe and put out fires, rather than the medics.

The deep ink dark makes it almost impossible to see clearly, shadows and faces lit up by swiveling red ambulance lights and arms pointing hurriedly are our guides for finding the injured. 'Lets get out of here, lets get out’ say the guys, and we’re leaving to go, empty handed, but straining to seeing what’s ahead when a missile hits the ground in front of us. We see a lit up fountain of what could be nail darts explode in front of us. They fall in a spray like a thousand hissing critters, we cover our heads and run back to the ambulance. One of the volunteers inside, Mohammad, is shocked, 'Did you see? Did you see? How close it was?’

At approximately 4am, we hit the streets in response to an F16 war plane attack on the house of Abdullah Sayeed Mrad in the Block Two area of Jabaliya Camp in the Northern Gaza Strip.

Mrad is said to be a high ranking Hamas official according to local sources. The attack leveled the house. Every house strike is like walking into a smoking grave, broken doll-like bodies of children to be found beneath layers and layers of white rubble and burning shrapnel.

We took Adam Mamoun Al Kurdi, aged 3 to Al Awda. He died of multiple shrapnel injuries to his skull and lower thighs.

We sped back 5 minutes later – four teams in four Red Crescent ambulances, to fetch more casualties. Thankfully there were none.

Whilst waiting in the ambulance we suddenly heard a deafening bang and saw an orange flash before our ambulance was showered with shrapnel, glass and brick. The target of the attack was another house belonging to Sayeed Mrad. Medics say the strike was from an F16. The depth of damage caused was consistent with the force of an F16-fired bomb.

The house, reduced to rubble, was just two meters from our ambulance. Ambulance driver Majdi Shehadda, 48, sustained deep lacerations to his face and right ear and went into shock in the ambulance. He was treated with oxygen. Four rescue workers sustained minor injuries and had to be treated for smoke and dust inhalation. One, Saaber Mohammad Awad, 34, was preparing to exit his ambulance when the bomb hit. 'The door smashed against me and the windows smashed in because of the pressure. I expected to die. If we had been outside just a second later, we would have been killed. The ambulance saved our lives’.

The four ambulances, one with all of its' windows blown in and damage to medical stocks inside, the others with cracked windows, were trapped by rubble blocking our exit route.

We had to carry Majdi on a stretcher over the debris of the bombed house in total darkness whilst Israeli drones menaced the skies above us. I tripped up over twisted steel foundation poles at one point and dropped the oxygen tank, the pipe detaching and hissing oxygen out over the rubble. We all evacuated the area after 15 minutes, along with a family, carrying their blankets, mattresses and belongings, as another property belonging to Sayeed Mrad also in the area was at risk of being bombed.

The ambulances would have been clearly visible to Israeli drones and special forces with their rooftop indentification markings, bright flashing lights and solo movement in the deserted, pitch black strees of Jabaliya.

An aerial curfew

Everyone is terrified by surveillance plane strikes here. 'Zenane’ they call them, because of the zzzzz sound they make. They have been firing explosive missiles into people – people walking, in cars, sitting in doorways drinking tea, standing on rooftops, praying together, sitting at home and watching television together.

In Naim Street Beit Hanoun, at 9.30pm on Sunday, Samieh Kaferna , 40, was hit by flying shrapnel to his head. Neighbours called him to come to their home. Fearing his home would be struck, he and a group of relatives began to move from one home to another, to be safer.
The second missile struck them down directly. When we arrived one man, eyes gigantic, was being dragged into the pavement, half of his lower body shredded, his intestines slopping out. He was alive, his relatives were screaming, we managed to take four, whilst six others, charred and dismembered, were brought in on the back of an open cattle truck. Beit Hanoun Hospital was chaos, with screaming relatives and burning bodies. Three men died in the attack, 10 were injured, six from the same Abu Harbid family. Three had to have leg amputations, and one a double amputation.

Burning shrapnel in eyes is a common injury, shrapnel slices deep into to any soft fleshy parts of the body. We brought a boy from Beit Hanoun with a distorted heavily bandaged head wrapped in bandages, to Al Nasser hospital with its specialist eye unit and mental health clinic. When we get there, its pitch black, doctors are sitting around candles, the place is freezing and full of shadows. Both the doctors and their have been patients blinded with Israeli-controlled power cuts that intensify the confusion, fear, and psychological darkness caving in on people here.

Burning shrapnel in eyes – like those of three year old Shedar Athman Khader Abid from Beit Hanoun, 'injured in the left eye, explosive injury, full thickness corneal wound, iris prologue and vitreous loss’ according to her medical report. Her father approaches my friend, quietly, to ask if its possible for me to help her, to get her out to have eye surgery, ’This girl, she was like a moon, haram, three years old and her beauty is robbed from her’.

Extremely hot, shrapnel lodges in chests, legs, faces, hands, stomachs, and skullls. I’ve been taught, don’t focus on stopping bleeding with shrapnel injuries, there is very little blood, the foreign bodies burn inside. Many casualties we’ve brought in that seem ok, literally, on 'the surface’, only to die a few days later. People talk about the missiles being poison tipped, and there have been reports of white phosphorous being used.

Dead for buying bread

Last night four members of a family were traveling back from the bakers in Beit Lahiya. Squeezed into a white skoda, their bag of bread still warm, they were struck by a surveillance plane missile at 6pm. Khaled Ismaeel Kahlood, 44, and his three sons Mohammad 15, Habib, 12, and Towfiq, 10, were cut into pieces by the attack which blew their car in two. Taxi driver Hassan Khalil, 20, was also martyred in the attack. The bodies brought into Kamal Odwan hospital were virtually unrecognizable.

A Union of Palestinian Medical Relief Committees ambulance was fired upon at approximately 8.30am on Sunday morning killing Paramedic and father of five, Arafa El Deyem, 35. He and another rescue worker had been evacuating casualties which had come under fire from an Israeli tank East of Jabaliya in the North of the Gaza Strip. Witnesses report that as the door of the ambulance was being closed a tank shell hit El Deyem. El Deyem died from a massive loss of blood following a major trauma to his chest. Paramedics I ride with cherish his memory, carrying his photo - a kind and strong looking, bearded man - on their mobile phones.

The following day, at the family's grieving tent, five of El Deyem's relatives were killed when a missile smashed into the tent in the Beit Hanoun Area. Arafat Mohammed Abdel Deinm, 10, Mohammad Jamal Abdel Dein, 25, Maher Younis Abdel Dein, 30, and Said Jamal Said, 27, all died from head and internal explosive injuries. Witnesses claim the missile was fired by an Israeli surveillance drone.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that Doctor Anis Naeem, a nephew of the Hamas Minister of Health, Bassem Naeem, and a colleague were killed in the Zeitoun area on Sunday afternoon when a missile strike from an Israeli surveillance plane impacted on the home they had entered in order to retrieve casualties.

Rescue workers Ihab el-Madhoun 35, and Mohammad Abu Hasira, 24, were struck by Israeli missiles when trying to collect casualties in the Jabal Al Rais area of Jabbaliya last Tuesday. Witnesses said Ihab went to assist his colleague following a strike on the rescue workers. He too was then struck.

Abu Hasira was brought to the Kamal Ahdwan governmental hospital in Jabaliya and died at 7.30am according to hospital records. The cause of death was multiple trauma injuries. Ihab died from massive internal injuries following an operation on his chest and abdominal area five hours later.

Khalil Abu Shammalah, Director of Al Dhumeer Association based in Gaza City said: 'It is a breach of the fourth Geneva Convention to target emergency medical services under conditions of war and occupation. Battlefield casualties are also protected under the Geneva Conventions and cannot be targeted once injured. Israel is in breach of international law'.

The Israeli news agency Y-Net recently reported that Yuval Duskin, Director of the Israeli intelligence agency Shin Bet, told the Israeli cabinet that large numbers Hamas operatives are hiding in hospitals and dressing as medical workers. Palestinian medical officials have dismissed the claims as 'nonsense'. Rescue workers are terrified that hospitals will join the list of civilian targets including homes, schools, universities, mosques, and shops hit in Israel's offensive so far.

Homes crushed

People and their homes are being pulverized by Israeli tank shells, F16s and bulldozers. I traveled to the buffer zone area of Sikka Street close to the Erez checkpoint, to see the damage. 27 houses had been crushed by either bulldozers or tank shells, one had been destroyed by an F16 bomb. 10 water wells and 200 dunums of land – orange groves and strawberry fields, have been bulldozed, and approximately 250 people have been made homeless.

Six members of the Kiferna family were crushed to death when their home was fired upon by Tanks on Sunday night.

People were coming back to their homes for the first time. The Hamdan Family had three homes in a row destroyed. I asked one woman sitting amongst the ruins of her home where she would go now? She replied, 'Beit Hanoun UNRWA school’.

’But do you think that will be safe?’ I asked her. 'No, but I have nowhere else to go’ she replied.

The Al Naim Mosque was also completely destroyed, holy books still smouldering from the attacks. Approximately one in 10 of the some 100 mosques in the Jabaliya area have been destroyed in Israel’s assault. 'We see them as personal centers for us, theyre not Hamas, and we paid for them out of our own money, they belong to us, not anyone else’, explained one Imam based in Jabaliya.

The demolition of Mosques means many people are praying in the streets, at the Kamal Odwan hospital, people pray in the garden area opposite, and at the funeral for the 42 people, mostly children, massacred at the Fakhoura School , hundreds prayed on the ground that was turned into an early graveyard.

Forced out

On Sunday night, all Sikka Street residents were given five minutes to leave their homes, ordered out through loudhailers, unable to take any belongings with them, rounded up by Israeli occupation forces and taken to the Al Naim Mosque. Women, children and the elderly were put inside and men aged between 16-40 were kept in a field outside in the cold and interrogated. Six were taken to Erez, three were released a day later and were told by soldiers, according to a witness, that it was safe for them to make their own way home along Salahadeen Street. It was there that special forces allegedly shot 33 year-old Shaadi Hissam Yousef Hamad 33, in the head.

Torn schoolbooks lie amidst rubble, and Iman Mayer Hammad picks through the debris of her life, a hejab, shoes, pictures, she cries out, 'Its all gone, everything, they’ve taken everything, my children can’t finish their exams, how will they finish their exams?’

Hundreds of children won’t be finishing their exams in Gaza because they’re dead.

Whether people stay in their homes or leave, they are being bombed. Majid Hamdan Wadeeya, 40, was hit in the leg and spine with shrapnel while he and his family were preparing to leave their home in Jaffa Street, Jabaliya. We arrived at his home on Tuesday afternoon to find the family’s decrepit red car still running and the family minivan stuffed with mattresses, towels, blankets, and belongings, blasted open. They had been hit by a missile from either a drone of apache. 'We were going from the bombing, from the bombing’, screamed his children, all terrified. We managed to take half of the family, the rest got in their red car and followed.

We were interviewing residents at the UNRWA elementary school in Jabaliya, close to the Fakhoora school, at exactly the same time of the massacre. The Sahaar family, which had walked from their home in Salahdeen Street to seek refuge in the school on the first day of invasion, were asking us, 'But do you think we are safe here? We feel that any time a missile could come down us? Are we safe here?’ The 500 people, some 50 families living in classrooms, share just 14 toilets and rely on rations to survive. The nights are cold as the windows have been smashed out by Israeli bomb attacks. Noone can sleep at night because of the sounds of homes, mosques and people being bombed to the ground.

The fabric of life

Everyone here knows someone who has been killed in Israel ’s massacres. I can’t keep up with the stories of missile struck cousins, nephews, brothers, the jailed, the humiliated, the shot, the unreachable, the homeless, the now even more vulnerable than ever, people, not pieces, piling up in morgues all over Gaza, not pieces, people. These people are struggling to live and breathe another day, to avoid the lethal use of F16s, F15s, Apache Helicopters, Cobra Gun Ships, Israeli naval gun ships that are targeting them.

These networks and vision have held strong for 60 years, but another fabric of life is being planned by Israel. Whilst people say they are resisting the worst attack on them since the Nakba, Israel proceeds to cantonise the West Bank, under a project of roads and tunnels 'for Palestinains’ which reinforce the existing illegal settlement system, apartheid wall, land and water theft and Palestinian bantustanisation. Under the banner of 'development', this network of new facts on the ground, 'for the Palestinians’ is called, 'The Fabric of Life’. Israel is blasting holes in one corner of the Palestinian fabric of life through extreme violence, and tearing up another part with the help of international companies and governments and internal authority complicity.

Back at Kamall Odwan hospital, Dr Moayan, explains, 'It’s not about just riding the streets of civilians, because, they are bombing us even when we have left, when we are inside supposedly safe compounds. I have left my house, and now have nowhere else to go, nowhere else to go.’ He continues to say what hundreds of people are saying, 'This is the worst we have ever seen, we have never had this level of violence. It has shocked even us. In Lebanon they killed over 1700 people, will it come to this here?’

The global intifada

This killing continues, day and night, and its not just people that are being physically dismembered, their families are being dismembered, their communities are being dismembered, the landscape of Gaza is full of holes. The fabric of these communities, that neighbours no longer neighbours, that families no longer living or alive together is being stretched to breaking point. People are being made refugees again, tents as homes awaiting them again, as no buildings or building materials are available for people to even rebuild their shattered lives, their smashed homes, shops, mosques, governmental buildings, community centres, charities, offices, clinics, youth centers.

How do you break a people that won’t be broken? 'They will have to kill each and everyone of us’ people tell me. From the first days here people were expecting 'the shoah’ threatened upon them by Matan Villai , Israel ’s deputy defence minister this February. It is happening. It is happening now. This is the Shoah.

The third Intifada being urged now has to be our intifada too. As Israel steps up its destruction of the Palestinian people, we need to step up our reconstruction of our resistance, our movements, of our communities in our own counties, where so many of us live in alienation and isolation. We need to be the third intifada – people here need more and say repeatedly that they need more than the demonstrations, because they are not stopping the killing here. Demonstrations alone, are not stopping the killing here.

The arms companies making the weapons that are targeting people here, the companies that are selling stolen goods from occupied land pillaging settlements, the companies building the apartheid wall, the prisons, the East Jerusalem Light Railway system. These companies, Carmel Agrexco, Caterpillar, Veolia, Raytheon, EDO, BAE Systems, they are complicit in the crimes against humanity being committed here. If the international community will not uphold international law, then a popular movement should and can – we can use the legal system of international law as one of many means to hold on to our collective humanity.

The European Union decision, undertaken by the Council of Ministers this December, to upgrade relations with Israel, from economic ties to cultural, security, and political relations must be reversed. The EU represents a core strategic market of legitimacy and political economic reinforcement of Israel and as such its capacity to commit crimes against humanity, with impunity.

We can cut this tie, we can halt this decision which if approved this April, will empower Israel further, bring it closer to the 'community of nations’ of the EU, and give a green light for further terror and crimes against humanity be inflicted upon the Palestinian people. This is a decision which has not yet been ratified. We can influence that which hasn’t happened yet.

There are concrete steps that people can take, learning from the lessons of the first Intifada and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign to dismantle the South African Apartheid regime. Strategies of popular resistance, strikes, occupations, direct actions. From the streets into the offices, factories and headquarters is where we need to take this fight, to the heart of decision-makers that are supposedly making decisions on our behalf and the companies making a killing out of the occupation. The third intifada needs to be a global intifada.

Anti-NWO?

Please understand that Israel is being used and manipulated just as Palistine, Gaza and the U.S. are. Their actions are disgusting but none the less, they are being pinned against Hamas and other arabs by foreign players, mainly the Saudi's funding Hamas and the British Bankers and Royalty / U.S. moles funding Israel. The original 3 rockets fired by "Hamas" were never proven to be fired by Hamas. No Palistinian or Israeli in their right mind would launch an attack right after a cease fire expired for no reason. you may find this hard to believe but if you simply research the Anglo Saudi/Anglo Dutch history, and the history of the British Empire you will see that they have been pinning countries against each other for hundreds of years. They tried to cut the U.S. in half during the Civil war under the leadership of Lord Palmerston, which is why Lincoln waged the war, to protect the Republic from the British Empire and their free trade route policies of raping economies.

US-Israeli Attack On ‘Watchers’ Brings Mysterious ‘Roar’ From Universe

By: Sorcha Faal, and as reported to her Western Subscribers

Russian Military Analysts are reporting today that under the ‘cover’ of
Israel’s brutal assault upon Gaza, United States and Israeli Special
Forces Troops are now engaged in ‘fierce fighting’ with what are termed
the ‘Watchers’ in their vast underground complexes in Egypt’s Sinai
Desert.

As we have noted in our previous reports (December 21st “World Shipping
Comes To Halt As Global Navies Prepare For ‘Unprecedented’
Confrontation”, December 25th “Earth Must Be Warned!” Screams French
Astronaut Before Suicide Attempt”, December 27th “Obama Rushed To Middle
East After ‘Watchers’ Issue Dire Threat To Mankind”, December 27th
“‘Watcher’ Attack On Hawaii Leaves Obama Forces Stunned”, and December
30th “West Begins Massive Attacks On Sinai Peninsula ‘Watcher’
Stargate”) for the first time in our modern Earth’s history, the
majority of Earth’s Nations have gathered together under the banners of
the West in an attempt to eradicate from our Earth this most ancient of
races known today as the ‘Watchers’, but in our most ancient of times,
Giants.

To all of the Earth’s peoples of our most ancient of times, the
knowledge of these Watchers were well known, and in the common religious
books sacred to the Hebrew, Christian and Islamic faiths we have been
left these warnings of them:

Genesis 6:4 - 'There were giants in the earth in those days; and also
after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and
they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of
old, men of renown

Numbers 13:33 - 'And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which
come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so
we were in their sight'.

Deuteronomy 1:28 - 'Whither shall we go up? our brethren have
discouraged our heart, saying, the people are greater and taller than
we; the cities are great and walled up to heaven; and moreover we have
seen the sons of the Anakims there'.

2:10 - 'The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many,
and tall, as the Anakims;  11 Which also were accounted giants, as the
Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims'.

2:20  - (References to a 'race' of): giants dwelt therein in old time;
and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;  21 A people great, and many,
and tall, as the Anakims; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and
they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:

3:11 - 'For only Og king of Bashan remained of the remnant of giants;
behold his bedstead was a bedstead of iron; is it not in Rabbath of the
children of Ammon? nine cubits was the length thereof, and four cubits
the breadth of it, after the cubit of a man'.

Of the most ancient text, called The Book of the Giants, relating to
these Watchers we can also read:

“The Book of Giants was a work apparently composed in Syriac (an eastern
dialect of Aramaic). The book was entirely lost until the twentieth
century, but scant references to it survived in Latin, Greek, and
Arabic, indicating that it involved battles of the ancient giants. Then
about a century ago many highly fragmentary Manichean works written in
Central Asian languages were recovered archaeologically at Turfan, in
China (and much of the find remains unpublished even at present).”

To our Earth’s present conflict with the Watchers, the combined Naval
Forces of nearly every powerful Nation are presently gathering in Gulf
of Aden known in our most ancient times to be the ‘entrance’ to the
Biblical Garden of Eden, or what the ancient texts describe as the
Watchers first, and most important, base upon our Planet, and which
yesterday it was announced that the United States would be leading, and
as we can read:

“The US Fifth Fleet said in a statement that ships and naval assets from
20 countries will constitute the CTF-151, commanded by U.S. Navy Rear
Admiral Terence McKnight. The statement issued in Bahrain did not
specify which are the nations expected to contribute to the force, due
to be fully operational later this month.”

The stated purpose of the vast Naval Fleet, called by Russian Military
Analysts as the ‘Earth Defense Force’, is to battle what are being
called modern day pirates threatening International shipping and based
in the Horn of Africa Nation of Somalia, but which none of the countries
involved in this massive effort have offered an explanation as to why so
much devastating firepower is needed to defeat what are reported to
number less than 200 of these pirates, and who are only using around 15
small vessels incapable of withstanding the open seas and not able to
venture more than 3 miles from their own coastline, and which is far
from the sea lanes used by large merchant and cargo ships.

Also going without explanation, or for that matter knowledge, of the
Western Nations is the United States positioning of troops in the Sinai
Desert Regions of Egypt weeks prior to Israel’s attack upon Gaza, and as
we can read:

“US Engineering Corps officers have arrived in southern Gaza Strip town
of Rafah to monitor the Egypt-Gaza border and unearth underground
tunnels in the area, the London-based Arabic-language newspaper al-Quds
al-Arabi reported Wednesday. According to the report, the US Military
deployed troops to the area several weeks ago, at Israel's request, in
light of its statements that Egypt is doing nothing to curb weapons
smuggling into Gaza through the Rafah border.”

But, according to these reports, the use of American Troops in battling
against these Watchers was deemed vital due to the United States
Soldiers last attempt to fight against these Giants, and as we had
previously reported on in our December 27th report titled “Obama Rushed
To Middle East After ‘Watchers’ Issue Dire Threat To Mankind”, and
wherein we stated:

“Nearly forgotten about our Earth’s most recent past experiences with
these undersea/underland Watchers was the tragic death of 248 American
Military Forces belonging to their highly decorated 101st Airborne
Division on December 12, 1985, and whose plane reportedly crashed on
takeoff from Canada’s Gander Air Force Base as these soldiers were
returning from their military tour of Egypt’s Sinai region.

Testimony made before the US House of Representatives House Intelligence
Oversight Committee in 1998, on this tragedy, though, points to the CIA
bombing of this US Military aircraft and is made even stranger by KGB
reports of that time stating that Egyptian Intelligence Officials
reported that all of the American soldiers were dead upon their being
put upon the aircraft in Egypt after having been killed in a ‘horrific
battle’ at an underground Watcher base near the Gaza border.

It is interesting to note too, that though not commonly known by even
the most astute researcher into these areas of wonder, the foremost
authority on the undersea bases of the Watchers was the former World War
II British Naval Intelligence officer Ivan Terence Sanderson, and whose
research book on this subject “Invisible Residents: The Reality of
Underwater UFOs”, is still considered by Russian Intelligence Experts to
be the most definitive book on this phenomena.”

To the Watchers response at being attacked by our Earth’s Defense
Forces, these reports continue, has been what these reports are stating
is an ‘Intergalactic Distress Signal’, and which is now being
‘answered’, and as we can read as reported by the Space.Com News Service
in their article titled “Mystery Roar from Faraway Space Detected”, and
which says:

“Space is typically thought of as a very quiet place. But one team of
astronomers has found a strange cosmic noise that booms six times louder
than expected. The roar is from the distant cosmos. Nobody knows what
causes it.

Of course, sound waves can't travel in a vacuum (which is what most of
space is), or at least they  can't very efficiently. But radio waves
can. Radio waves are not sound waves, but they are still electromagnetic
waves, situated on the low-frequency end of the light spectrum.

Many objects in the universe, including stars and quasars, emit radio
waves. Even our home galaxy, the Milky Way, emits a static hiss (first
detected in 1931 by physicist Karl Jansky). Other galaxies also send out
a background radio hiss. But the newly detected signal, described here
today at the 213th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, is far
louder than astronomers expected.

There is "something new and interesting going on in the universe," said
Alan Kogut of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.”

However, as the scientists of today’s World say this ‘roar’ from the
Universe is ‘something new and interesting’, our most ancient of peoples
had a decidedly different opinion, and as we can read:

“The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy
habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a
shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the
earth.” The Book of Jeremiah 25:30

It goes without our saying that of all of these things, both the masses
of people who may read these words, and their scientists alike, they may
be hard, very hard, to believe.  But this must be so as it is written:

“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the
wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the
things which are mighty” New Testament: 1 Corinthians 1:27

And to those who think they see, but are truly blind, and to those who
think they hear, but are truly deaf, the ‘key’ to discovering why these
most important of truths have been, and still are, being kept from them
resides in the knowledge of the Greatest King ever to have ruled upon
this Earth, Ashoka The Great, who broke against the ‘gods’ and
established upon our Earth the largest and most peaceful kingdom ever
known.

To the fullest understanding of why Ashoka The Great is so feared among
the World rulers of today, and why the knowledge of him is virtually
outlawed in nearly every Nation on Earth, is to then know the truth of
the Watchers, our World’s Elite present battle against them, and the
realization that our human races entire history is but one single line
of purpose leading us to the catastrophic events soon to overcome us
all.

Red Cross: Israel barred crews from hurt Gazans

The International Committee of the Red Cross said today it had found at least 15 bodies and several children -- emaciated but alive -- in a row of shattered houses in the Gaza Strip and accused the Israeli military of preventing ambulances from reaching the site for four days.

Red Cross officials said rescue crews had received specific reports of casualties in the houses and had been trying since Saturday to send ambulances to Zaytoun, a neighborhood south of Gaza City. They said the Israeli military did not grant permission until today.

In an unusual public statement by its Geneva headquarters, the Red Cross called the episode "unacceptable" and said the Israeli military had "failed to meet its obligation under international humanitarian law to care for and evacuate the wounded."

"This is a shocking incident," said Pierre Wettach, the Red Cross' head of delegation for Israel and the Palestinian territories. "The Israeli military must have been aware of the situation but did not assist the wounded. Neither did they make it possible for us or the Palestine Red Crescent to assist the wounded."

When rescue workers from the Red Cross and the Palestinian Red Crescent arrived at the site, they found 12 corpses lying on mattresses in one home, along with four young children lying next to their dead mothers, the Red Cross said. The children were too weak too stand and were rushed to a hospital, the agency said. It said its workers evacuated 18 wounded survivors from the houses in donkey carts.

A spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces declined to comment on the allegations, but said the military "has demonstrated its willingness to abort operations to save civilian lives and to risk injury in order to assist innocent civilians."

In fact, Israel stopped its bombardments in Gaza for three hours Wednesday to allow in humanitarian aid and fuel.

Report: US military re-supplying Israel with ammunition through Greece

Saed Bannoura - IMEM

http://www.uruknet.info/?p=m50560&hd=&size=1&l=e

US-made ammunition en route to Israel

Jan 8, 2009

As the Israeli military continues to pound the crowded, impoverished and imprisoned population of the Gaza Strip with the full force of its military might, Israel's strongest ally, the United States, announced plans to ship large amounts of ammunition to the Israeli forces – as it did during Israel's 2006 invasion of Lebanon, when the Israelis ran out of (internationally-banned) cluster bombs, and the US shipped them tens of thousands more.

The US Military Sealift Command on Dec. 31st published a solicitation for bids from shipping companies to ship two boats, each containing 168 TEU's (twenty-foot equivalent container units) of ammunition, from Greece to Israel.

The description of the vessels required was brief:

"Required: Request US or foreign flag container vessel (coaster) to move approximately 168 TEU's [standard twenty-foot containers] in each of two consecutive voyages both containing ammunition."

Bids were requested by January 5th, but it is unclear whether bids were submitted or a contract awarded as of January 8th.

According to the US Military's solicitation, "Funds are not currently available for this procurement. In the event funds remain unavailable, this procurement will be cancelled without an award being made."

During the Israeli assault on Lebanon in the summer of 2006, in which 1200 Lebanese people were killed, 90% of whom were civilians (and 168 Israelis were killed, 10% of whom were civilians), the US Congress approved funding for an 'emergency' shipment of cluster bombs to Israel after Israel had dropped their entire store of the banned weapon on civilian population centers in southern Lebanon. Over one million cluster bomblets were dropped in southern Lebanon, largely due to the US 'emergency' shipment. Many of those bomblets remain on the ground in Lebanon, unexploded two years later. They continue to kill and maim Lebanese civilians, mainly children and farmers, who come across the unexploded bomblets and step on them or pick them up.

According to Wired magazine's security correspondent Nathan Hodge, the current solicitation for a shipment bid is the first such solicitation in several months. He said that, according to his research, the most recent announcement of a potential arms delivery to Israel was posted by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency on Sept. 29 -- for sale of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters. Earlier that month, the agency notified Congress of the pending upgrades to Israeli Patriot missile fire units as well as sales of the GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb.

Israel has long used US weapons in its attacks on the civilian population of the two Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories, the West Bank and Gaza. In addition to $3 billion in direct aid a year, the US government supplies around $3 billion in weapons transfers to Israel, and $6 billion in loan guarantees (none of which have ever been repaid by Israel).

all news today is owned by jews and constantly brainwashes Americans on a daily basis.....here then is some truth.    Jerusalem-- Almost two weeks have gone by since Israel launched operation "Cast Lead" on Gaza, and dozens of foreign journalists still wait at the Israeli-Gaza border, watching the military operation in Gaza from afar. Israel still refuses to let any media cross into the strip. The restriction has created a very different reporting atmosphere than that during Israel's Second War on Lebanon in summer of 2006. At that time, foreign media was able to report on the conflict from both sides. Today, almost all reports that come out of Gaza are strictly from Palestinian and Arab sources.

A couple of days ago, CNN's anchor Campbell Brown complained that her network was trying to report as accurately as possible on the fighting in Gaza but can't because CNN has no reporters on the ground who can bring you first-hand information about what is taking place. The reason, she explained, "we have no reporters on the ground in Gaza is because Israel will not allow foreign journalists into Gaza."

She went on to say, "Much of the information coming out of Gaza is impossible to verify and many of the images you see on television are provided by Hamas."

This is total nonsense!

There are more than a dozen television stations that still operate out of Gaza. For the past several years, Arab satellite networks have dispatched news reports out of Gaza almost on a daily basis. Leading Arab satellite networks all have offices and reporters in Gaza, such as, Al Jazeera (Arabic and English), Al Arabiya TV, Dubai TV, Nile TV, Abu Dhabi TV, to name a few. Then there is Hamas' Al Aqsa TV and independently owned Ramattan News Service. They have been beaming images of starving children living in desperate conditions during the Israeli siege on Gaza to millions in the Arab world and beyond. Despite these abundant news sources, CNN and other U.S. networks have elected to cover Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith for days on end. Let's face the facts. Images of starving children do not sell advertisements. Trash does. Now, many of those children are dead!

Another thing Ms. Brown neglects to mention is that CNN's "missing in action" status predates this war. CNN and other U.S. networks have been cutting back on their foreign correspondents for years. We saw this before when the war on Afghanistan was first launched in the aftermath of 9/11 when Al Jazeera was one of the few networks reporting out of Kabul. Similarly, the first images of the War on Iraq were seen by the rest of the world through Arab lenses, primarily Abu Dhabi TV, Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya.

And when CNN reporters finally do arrive, Ms. Brown, they never give a damn about the 1.5 million residents of Gaza who spend their daily existence in one large prison caged like animals in a filthy and an unsanitary environment. They can be found hanging around the Hilton in Tel Aviv and the American Colony in Jerusalem sipping on Martinis and exchanging laughs with their Israeli fixers. They then pile up in a bus in front of the Israel Government Press Office, 37 Hillel St. Jerusalem and off they go on an organized tour of Ashkelon and Sderot. Details of this tour are in a copy of an e mail sent to foreign correspondents working in Israel: (I purposely omitted names and phone numbers)

UN accuses Israel of herding 110 Palestinians into a house and then shelling it, leaving 30 dead

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1110212/UN-accuses-Israel-herding-110-Palestinians-house-shelling-leaving-30-dead.html

The United Nations has cited witnesses accusing Israel of killing 30 people inside a house filled with Palestinians who had been evacuated there by Israeli troops.

The witnesses told the UN that Israel had evacuated about 110 Palestinians into the house - then repeatedly shelled it 24 hours later, killing the civilians inside.

The UN was quoted by the AFP as saying: 'according to several testimonies, on 4 January Israeli foot soldiers evacuated approximately 110 Palestinians into a single-residence house in Zeitun (half of whom were children) warning them to stay indoors.

'Twenty-four hours later, Israeli forces shelled the home repeatedly, killing approximately 30.'

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) called it 'one of the gravest incidents since the beginning of operations' by Israeli forces in Gaza on December 27, AFP said.

'Those who survived and were able walked two kilometres to Salah Ed Din road before being transported to hospital in civilian vehicles. Three children, the youngest of whom was five months old, died upon arrival at the hospital,' OCHA was quoted as saying in a report on the situation in the battered Gaza Strip.

The Israeli military told the AFP that it was investigating the allegation.

The accusation came as a 'credible' report from Gaza claimed one third of the 760 reported killed in the conflict have been children.

Another report claimed Barack Obama is set to open up low-level talks with Hamas when he takes over the presidency.

With agreement growing in Washington that the Bush policy of excluding Hamas is counter-productive, the Guardian cited transition sources who claimed the President-Elect is being advised to open clandestine talks with the Islamist organisation - possibly through European channels.

And last night the 15-member UN Security Council overwhelmingly passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire and Israel to fully withdraw from Gaza.

Fourteen members of the Council voted for the resolution - with the United States abstaining.

Hours after the resolution was passed, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said Israel would act only in its own interests.

'Israel has acted, is acting and will act only according to its considerations, the security needs of its citizens and its right to self defence,' a statement said.

It made no direct reference to how Israel would treat the call for a ceasefire.

Livni, along with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defence Minister Ehud Barak, convened in session today to discusss the Security Council resolution and their next moves in the conflict.

Also today the UN Human Rights Council is due to hold a special session on the conflict examining a motion by Egypt, Pakistan and Cuba seeking condemnation of the Israeli offensive.

Israeli army officers and soldiers pour over maps as they gather for a briefing in a Palestinian house during an operation against Hamas militants this week

An unofficial copy of the draft resolution expected to be presented to the world body's rights assembly called for 'international action to put an end to grave violations by the occupying power, Israel, in the occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in the occupied Gaza Strip.'

It also demanded an immediate end to the military operation and that Israel 'stop the targeting of civilians'.

Israel is not a member of the Human Rights Council, but has the rights to take part in the debate as an interested party.

Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riad Maliki was expected to attend the meeting.

Amnesty International has accused both Israel and Hamas of using civilians as human shields.

A rocket explosion like a deadly firework lights up the sky over Gaza City last night

The Red Cross has criticised Israel for its conduct towards civilians in Gaza during the offensive, accusing it of failing to fulfil its obligation to help the wounded.

Officials, who claim Israel has denied them access to the Gaza area for four days, said medical teams found four young children huddled by the bodies of their dead mothers in a shelled house.

'This is a shocking incident,' Pierre Wettach, Red Cross head for Israel and the Palestinian territories, said. 'The Israeli military must have been aware of the situation but did not assist the wounded.'

Israel's ambassador in Geneva, Aharon Leshno-Yaar, denied his country was failing in its humanitarian obligations.

'Once the military activity was over, then it was possible for humanitarian teams to evacuate the wounded,' he said.

I feel the following needs repeating. With our LAME duck prez(he has been lame for 8 years) Obama says one prez is enough. However when Mr. Obama chose Emanuel I could feel the knife going into my back once again. I have read, many times, the transcript between Mr. Obama and the AIPAC meeting. It is obvious to me that once again Americans have elected another puppet to Israel...McKinny is a voice, a small one at that, for the American people.
Say Something" About Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
By BAR staff

January "01, 2009 --"BAR" -- Former Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has called upon President-Elect Barack Obama to "please, say something about the humanitarian crisis that is being experienced by the Palestinian people, by the people of Gaza." McKinney spoke to CNN news from the Lebanese city of Tyre, where she had debarked from the relief vessel Dignity after it was rammed on the high seas by an Israeli patrol boat, early Tuesday morning. Passengers also report the Israelis fired machine guns into the water near their ship.

McKinney was among the passengers on an attempted voyage from the island of Cyprus to Gaza, where Israeli bombs and missiles have killed hundreds of Palestinians, including many civilians, since Saturday. The Dignity carried three tons of medical supplies and a number of doctors prepared to treat the more than 1,000 Gazans wounded in the Israeli attacks. The 66-foot craft had made two previous humanitarian relief trips to Gaza since the summer. Israel has blocked food, medicines and other essentials from entering Gaza in a campaign of collective punishment against the 1.5 million Palestinians that live there under a Hamas Party administration.

President-Elect Obama has been silent on the Israeli attacks, while President George Bush has supported Israel's actions.

"I would like to ask my former colleagues in the United States Congress to stop sending weapons of mass destruction around the world," said McKinney, who was the Green Party's presidential candidate in November. "As we are about to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday, let us remember what he said. He said that the United States is the greatest purveyor of violence on the planet. And guess what: we experienced a little bit of that violence, because the weapons that are being used by Israel are weapons that were supplied by the United States government."

A CNN reporter who accompanied the passengers and crew of the Dignity confirmed that the boat "was sailing with full lights" when "one of the Israeli patrol boats, with no lights on, rammed the Dignity, hard."

Israel blames the collision on the relief vessel.

Said McKinney: "Our boat was rammed three times, twice in the front, once on the side.... What the Israelis are saying is outright disinformation."

McKinney compared the Israeli action against the Dignity to the attack on a U.S. naval vessel during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War. "I recall that there was another boat that was attacked by Israelis, and it was the U.S.S Liberty." Thirty-four crewmen died and 170 were wounded by fire from Israeli planes and torpedo boats. The Israelis claim it was a case of mistaken identity. "People would like to forget about the U.S.S. Liberty," said McKinney, "but I haven't forgotten about it and the people who were on that ship have not forgotten what happened to them.

We haven't forgotten either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Obama is hind sucking .

Arms exports to Israel from EU worth €200m

Global Research, January 9, 2009
CET EUOBSERVER

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=11708

CET EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS - European Union member states authorised the export of €200 million in arms exports to Israel in 2007, the latest figures from Brussels disclose, with France far and away the Jewish state's biggest European weapons supplier. According to the EU's 2008 report on arms export licences, published in December for the 2007 calendar year and consolidating the accounts that member states must annually submit, 18 member states authorised a total of 1,018 such licences to Israel worth €199,409,348.

France, Germany and Romania were the top three exporters. France issued export licences worth €126 million, Germany authorised €28 million and Romania €17 million, the EUobserver can reveal. In response to calls from opposition politicians that the UK government halt its arms exports to Israel and push all other EU member states to do the same, a British foreign office spokesperson said: "We do not approve any defence related exports if we judge that there is a risk that they will be used for external aggression or internal repression. "We routinely refuse export licences where we believe that there is a risk of this. Any application relating to Israel is considered on this basis," the spokesperson continued. EU arms code of conduct The EU has maintained an arms export code of conduct since 1998, but it is overseen at the member state level, not in Brussels, so if Mr Brown were to push for such a move, he would have to convince the 26 other member states.

In 2007, €12 million in small arms and ammunition were exported to Israel by Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, Romania and the UK. Another €23.5 million in "light weapons," meaning those that require two to three people to operate them, such as bombs, torpedoes and explosive devices, were supplied by the Czech Republic, Germany, Romania and Slovenia. Belgium, France and Romania also sent Israel €18.5 million worth of aircraft and related material. Paris is responsible for €10 million of this sum.

In a fourth, very broad category of armaments in the EU's consolidated report, "electronic equipment" - referring to electronics specifically modified for military use, navigation and guidance equipment, and satellite jamming systems, some €94 million was exported by France (€89 million) and Germany (€5 million).

The rest of the €200 million consists of weapons that fall into other minor categories beyond small arms, light weapons, aircraft and electronics.

Italy, traditionally a major arms exporter, only supplied Israel with €0.5 million in weapons in 2007. Spain, also a leading trader in the sector also sold Tel Aviv just €4.5 million worth of armaments. Sweden, another major European weapons producer, along with eight other EU member states, delivered nothing to the Jewish state. Across the EU, only 28 export licences were refused as a result of human rights, internal security or regional stability reasons.

Kaye Stearman, of the UK-based Campaign Against Arms Trade, told this website: "The UN and impartial observers have regularly documented how Israeli military actions have violated international humanitarian law. "Although the UK's own Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria is supposed to assess the impact of arms sales on regional peace, security and stability, and the country's human rights record, it seems that this is ignored in the case of Israel."

"Britain must immediately stop selling arms, including arms components, to Israel and also stop buying arms from Israeli companies - arms that have been 'tested' in the laboratories of the occupied territories."

Is this credible information or is it just a hoax?

http://www.ken-welch.com/Msg90108.html

SECOND WAR WARNING:
PERSIAN GULF/MIDDLE EAST

As they sometimes say in Houston, "How did our oil end up under their sand?"

Three years behind schedule, the U.S. is about to rectify this mistake.  A false-flag nuclear attack somewhere in the Middle East is imminent, and information just in suggests that either Friday or Saturday, January 9-10, is the currently scheduled D-Day.

We published an initial report about this operation six weeks ago, but the Mumbai fiasco put the plan on hold.  When that appeared to be taken care of we issued our first War Warning on December 26.  Two days later, Israel kicked off the underlying deception that will support the false-flag events by attacking Gaza.  This is amazingly similar to the Armageddon Plot (using Lebanon) that we reported on extensively two years ago.

During the last ten days a flood of new information obtained via reversed speech has confirmed that U.S. forces have a green light to initiate their version of Armageddon, a nuclear attack on Iran in response to nuclear events created by covert U.S. operations.

I am working now to get this new information into a presentable form, and will have a report posted by tomorrow morning (hopefully before the action starts).  This will include audio clips with reversed speech you can hear for yourself.  The link to the report will be prominently displayed on our Project Central page:

THE EDOMITES IN END TIME BIBLE PROPHECY.
THIS IS AN IMPORTANT YET UNTOLD STORY.
Let us turn our attention now to the Edomites. What is their spiritual character? In the beginning, two nations wrestled within the womb of Rebekkah, namely Jacob and Esau. Esau was born first. Then Jacob came out grasping the heel of his brother. Jacob means, "heel" or supplanter. The children of Jacob spawned the Judeo-Christian people, with their nurturing ethic and culture. Jacob was a man of the flocks and the tents of Isaac, his father, and particularly Rebekkah his mother. But Esau was Isaac's favorite. He was a hunter and a free spirited man of the field. He was a wild man. In selling his birthright for a mess of pottage he showed that he had no interest whatsoever in His spiritual inheritance. He was an earthy and phallic sort of a person. Esau preferred to 'take down' what he wanted in the wild rather than cultivating gardens and crops and tending to the flocks.
And where are the Edomites now? If they are in existence today it is difficult to imagine that the sons of Esau are still to be found just within their ancient borders near the Dead Sea. 4,000 years have passed by. Likewise it is unrealistic to expect that we can find end-time Mystery Babylon by poking around the ruins of the ancient city of Babylon 50 miles south of Baghdad in modern Iraq. It would be a useless exercise. The people have gone. They have moved on to other places. The Mystery Babylon John spoke of in Revelation 17 and 18 will not be found in their old haunts by the Euphrates River back in the cradle of civilization. They have grown up and left the cradle. Now the people of 'Mystery Babylon' and the sons of Esau as well have moved on. And today they are somewhere else.

Consider the Jewish people, the children of the patriarch Judah. They were uprooted by the Babylonians in 587 B.C.. Then after their return from Babylon under Zerubbabel, Ezra and Nehemiah they suffered the destruction of the temple and the city of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.. Then they were scattered again by the Romans in the following years. Their land was named 'Palestine' after the Philistines, Israel's worst enemy. Today we are very well aware of just how far the Jews have gone since their scattering from their ancient homeland in southern Israel two millennia ago. Up until the 20th century nearly all of the Jews remained scattered far from Jerusalem and Judah. The Diaspora were seeded among all nations. If we had visited the land of ancient Israel in earlier centuries we would fail to turn up the sovereign nation of Israel or even any significant number of Jewish inhabitants. Today, of course, it is a different story. But still only 4 million of the 20 odd million Jews are back in the land.

So what can we say about the children of Esau? Wasn't there also a scattering prophesied for his seed as well? -Mal.1:2-4 Was he a homebody with a heart for his domestic national interests? Far from it. He was a man of the field. Was his ancient land all that precious to him? Probably not. He was a vigorous and an active free ranging soul. So he has most likely gone from his ancient territories.

So where are the Edomites today? Isaac's blessing on Esau was that he would end up dwelling in rich countries. -Gen.27:39-40 If the Edomites are around today might they be found in nations such as ours here in the west for instance? Why not? Isaac's blessing states, "Behold your dwelling shall be of the fatness of the earth." Modern Jordan, in contrast, does not fit the bill here at all. It is a poor country. As much as we would like to imagine Esau's people, the brothers of Jacob, being still restricted to his ancient borders perhaps living as troglodytes in the caves up in Petra or living in tents and riding camels up in Bozrah after all these ages this is unlikely. We are deceiving ourselves to think he hasn't moved out of those rocky territories southeast of the Dead Sea. Thousands of years have passed by. The spirit of Esau is probably now flowing in the nations far abroad. Today's Edomites are probably now hustling their way through life within new borders as citizens of prosperous countries. Isaac's blessing over Esau, (Gen. 27:39-40) suggests he will be found in the "fatness of the earth". That means we might expect to find him in modern times among the peoples in wealthy nations.

THE SPIRIT AND CHARACTER OF THE CHILDREN OF ESAU THROUGHOUT HISTORY.
REALIZING THAT THE EDOMITES ARE STILL WITH US TODAY.
What can we say about the character of Esau? Well this much we know. He scorns his spiritual inheritance and blessings. A profane man, he lives by the sword or by force of arms. Does he put his trust in guns and military armaments first and foremost? Esau was always inclined to be violent and wrathful. He has little patience for those whose proclivities tend toward nurturing and cultivating (as of the flocks). He scorns nurturing considering it evidence of weakness. He is not inclined towards cultivating crops or shepherding as his brother Jacob is. He prefers to hunt and to get his food by taking it down as hunters do. Esau may well be the stereotypical hustler, predator and "bad guy". Do we find such people in rich western countries including Europe and the U.S? Which countries have the most murders per capita? Is it not out here in the west? In those cowboy westerns might we be able to discern the Edomites? Could they be those nasty bad guys with the black hats? The characters played by Clint Eastwood in the "spaghetti westerns" and his main role character in "Pale Rider" and "Dirty Harry" come to mind. In the movie "The Unforgiven" heavy overtones of Esau can be discerned. Here we see people who cannot find redemption. Esau's spirit is forever angry. He has a chip on his shoulder and he just never gets over it. His is an awful and tragic story. Esau just never repents. His heart never melts or breaks over the things he has done. And so he never finds forgiveness or grace. Because of this Obadiah the prophet pronounces God's ultimate and total doom on him. -Obadiah vs.18

So what does an ancient character from the Old Testament have to do with us as Christians today? We know that discernment of spirits is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As we discern the spirit of Esau in the scriptures we can look up and view the world around us. We can trace the spiritual flows we see there.

Let us go to the Old Testament first. If we take a look at the character Doeg the Edomite, who arose back in the time of David we can immediately begin to see some Edomite traits in this man. Doeg was a common soldier in Saul's army. He rose to a bloody calling during one dreadful day of wrath. It was brought into play by the jealous rage of King Saul against David. Here is how it happened.

King David was in pursuit of Saul. Upon discovering that the priests of Nob had given David food and shelter King Saul was incensed. He immediately flew into a rage. He ordered his army officers to slaughter of all the priests of Nob. These were his own countrymen, his own priests!

None of Saul's men in the army of Israel would obey this heinous order. It was a call to slaughter the holy priests of Israel. But King Saul's murderous anger did draw a certain Edomite whose name was Doeg. He stepped forward to respond to the order. And here we see an example of Edomite wrath at its worst. Doeg killed all the priests of Nob. He showed none of them any mercy whatsoever. Then he proceeded to kill all the women and children in the city as well. But he was still not finished. He then proceeded to kill every animal. By the time the Edomite had finished slaughtering there was not a living human soul or animal left in the city. -1Sam.22:16-19. Haman was an Edomite in the days of Queen Esther. His genocidal plot to destroy the Jews is well known. Such was, and is, the murderous genocidal wrath and anger of the sons of Esau when they are stirred up.

Let us move forward to the time of Christ's first advent. We know Esau's sons were around at that time and impacting holy history. The Herods were Edomites and they ruled over the Jewish nation in Judea. They ruled with an iron hand under the Roman superpower. The Romans found the Edomites very useful in performing their wishes and getting things done. Brutal Roman ways were never a problem for the Edomites. They were always eager to oblige their Roman masters and spill Jewish blood whenever the occasion presented itself. Herod butchered his own children when he feared they might be a threat to his rule. And Herod's barbarous massacre of the children of Bethlehem is a well known part of the Christmas story. After their visit with King Herod the wise men must have seen something that disturbed them. After finding the Christ child they were not inclined to return to Herod as he had requested. Instead they returned to their own country by another way.

So is Isaac's firstborn son Esau still in our midst today? Have we seen any evidence of his anger and murderous wrath? Well this past century has seen genocides too numerous to recount. The 20th century saw more Christians and Jews martyred than all the previous centuries combined. Current martyrdoms are rising and number approximately 150,000 per year. Genocide of good people and innocent unborn babes and infants is on the increase.

What other evidence do we have of genocidal wrath in modern history? 1901 saw the first concentration camps for civilians. The British government, (not the Germans), were the perpetrators. Tens of thousands of innocent Boer women and children were incarcerated behind barbed wire in compounds. This martial law policy was instituted in the Transvaal in South Africa by Lord Kitchener. He realized that the Boer farmers were using guerrilla tactics. The Boers were striking at the British by day and being supported by their womenfolk from their farmhouses by night. Lord Kitchener elected to deal with this by sanctioning brutal tactics and the establishment of martial law in the Transvaal. Under this horrific policy women and children were rounded up at gunpoint and penned up in concentration camps throughout the Transvaal.

This is a little known piece of history. I was not taught this in British History class in grammar school. Many women and children sickened and died in these awful places of incarceration. Was the policy 'successful' in bringing the war to a close? Yes it was. Martial law is the only way to win a guerrilla war.

Dear saints, here is a truth that governmental leaders will never reveal to its citizens. The enforcement of a police state or martial law is necessary to win a guerrilla war. It worked in the British occupation of the Transvaal. And it worked in the German occupation of France and Europe during World War 2. This pacification of the country was undertaken by a heartless police state, martial law, and a program of terror. This was instituted by the British Army and by the German Gestapo. History shows that as a program of social dismemberment these measures do break the will of the captive nation to fight.

The Americans were and are the greatest military power this world has ever seen. Yet they were defeated in Vietnam. This was because they had become bogged down in a guerrilla war with no command of what went on in the villages and no good intelligence on the ground. At that time the Americans were unwilling to institute a police state in Vietnam. They were unprepared initiate and to carry out the orders necessary for such an inhuman and monstrous system of conquest. After all, they were fighting to win freedom for the people of South Vietnam. Freedom and police states don't go together too well. And this war had a lot of reporters and photo journalists keeping an eye on things and snapping photos.

Americans by nature are a freedom loving people. It would have been very hard to get regular U.S. soldiers to get into the nitty gritty of setting up an American Gestapo style administration to rule over the Vietnamese villagers.

There were exceptions to this. Special forces did exist and did enact martial law in some areas. These were "black" operations and the American people heard little about these secret "phoenix" operations. In the areas in which they operated these brutal programs did have some 'success'. But they torture and other inhumane methods to gain information from the Viet Cong. These unsavory phoenix operations had to be secret and small. They could not be hidden from the American reporters and cameramen forever.

So despite enormous air power and firepower the Americans did not have the political will or desire to rule with an iron Edomite fist. They were unwilling or unable to domineer the Vietnamese civilian populace as brutal occupiers. The eventual outcome was inevitable. The Americans were worn down by a determined enemy who were more brutal with civilians than they were. Eventually the U.S. military forces were forced to withdraw from Vietnam.

Not so fortunate were civilians under totalitarian regimes in the Soviet Union and China. The police state genocides by the communist leaders Stalin and Mao numbered in the range of 40 to 60 million each. Cambodian communist leader Pol Pot set a process in motion that would see over three million or one third of his citizens perish in the "killing fields". Oftentimes the victims were killed because they were just in the wrong social class. The holocaust against European Jewry under Hitler's Nazi regime took 6 million to the death chambers.

Lest we become comfortable in our own sense of self-righteousness what can we say about the allied bombing of German cities in World War 2? The American 8th Air Force bombed by day and British Bomber Command sent the Lancasters over for "area bombardment" of German cities by night. With the area night bombing raids no attempt was made to concentrate on hitting military targets only.

It has been well documented that the bombing of cities did not stop the German war machine. Only the invasion of Europe by the allies did that. The war was ending as the firestorms swept through German cities. Was there any sound military reason to bomb the cities of Hamburg and Dresden until the whole city, including the asphalt roads, were all burning as a huge single mass of flames? 80,000 civilians, including women and children, perished in the firestorms of Hamburg. A similar number in died in the Dresden bombing and the subsequent firestorm. Was anything to be gained for the war effort against the German military machine by conducting this genocide?

This horrific bombing campaign killed as many civilians as the A-bombing attacks on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These round the clock firestorm bombing campaigns against German cities were genocidal. Were they a military necessity? The diabolical scheme used by the allies used alternating bombing raids of incendiaries and high explosive charges. The whole city would be set ablaze as one huge fire. Even the asphalt roads would be be caught up in the inferno and the flames roared in towards the center of the city. Was this anything other than a program of sheer terrorism? Do we see shades of Edom in the genocides we and our enemies have perpetrated since the advent of air power?

If this hasn't been enough what are we to surmise about missile technology for delivery of nuclear warheads? As the nations begin to rage as we approach the end of the age are modern wars becoming less a contest of armies on battlefields and more and more turning into contests over destruction of cities? Is the warfare now between our Edomites and the Edomites of our enemies?

And what can we say about modern nuclear warfare waged by whole countries against whole countries? Such warfare threatens to destroy all life on the planet. While we can do little to prevent it is Esau and his MAD policy now in the driver's seat of history? Is Esau on the rise, just as the patriarch Isaac has prophesied? (Gen.27:39-40)

THE RETURN OF THE EDOMITES.
AND THEIR PROMINENT ROLE AGAINST JACOB
AS WORLD HISTORY ENTERS THE END TIME DRAMA.
There is no doubt that the scriptures indicate that Esau will come to prominence again in the end-time. - Gen.27:39-40 Will wild Edomites be used in the coming New World Order as hatchet men, just as they were under the Romans? Will Esau re-emerge to be used again just as he has been used by world powers in past history?
Daniel gives us some reason to think that this might be the case. - Dan.11:41 The Edomites in ancient history repeatedly committed genocide against the people of God. They were capable of monstrous acts of cruelty and without any remorse. Are Edomites destined to commit genocide again? Could they re-emerge under the cover of the A.C. during the the second half of the 70th week of Daniel? Could they take up a role as wardens of God's people during the Great Tribulation?

If you are a red blooded man you might be wondering right now if Esau can be stopped. Can he be stopped by negotiation or pacification or bribery? No. Not at all. Can he be stopped by force of arms? Perhaps, he can. Perhaps for a while. But the scriptures clearly indicate that carnal Christians who decide to take up the sword in the end time scenario will be decisively defeated. -Dan.7:21, Dan. 12:7, Rev.13:7 And then if you are entertaining survivalist fantasies for the future 70th week you might need to ask yourself this question. If you do take up arms just how many innocents will die as a consequence of your action? If you are a Christian believer and the scriptures declare that you cannot win in any carnal engagement in the 70th week then why attempt it?

The way we have been taught, any thought of being around for the climax of this age sounds depressing. Dispensationalist Pre-Trib Rapture teachers have erroneously painted it as nothing more than a chamber of horrors. But that is not the case. And now it is time to tell the 'rest of the story'. A spiritual warfare will be underway during the Great Tribulation. And in this campaign the saints will be successful. -Dan.7:18 & 22. Wonderful resources for waging spiritual war will be coming to us in the future. Contrary to what pre-trib Bible prophecy teachers have said, the Holy Spirit will be with us and being poured out upon all flesh in the 70th week. He will be with us right through to the blow-out climax at the 6th seal. -Joel 2:28-32. And ask yourself this question as well. In running away from your witness and in choosing to strive in the flesh against spiritual powers could it be possible that in the anger and wrath you yourself might be likely to take on Esau's spirit? Are you prepared to initiate yourself into bloodletting? if so, then are you prepared to run the risk of becoming an Edomite yourself?

How can we be sure Esau will rise again to prominence in the end-time? Well there was a prophecy pronounced by Isaac as a leftover blessing on Esau. Esau was the firstborn. You will recall that his brother Jacob had tricked him out of both his birthright and his blessing. But Isaac did indeed bless his son Esau. -Gen. 27:39-40. And the blessing promised Esau was that he would come to prominence and break free of his brother Jacob. This is a scripture we must face honestly. Laodicean religious establishment sources will not publish or broadcast this troubling information. Is it out of ignorance? Or is it for fear of political, civil and marketplace disturbances? For whatever reason, this information on the re-emergence of the Edomites has been cloaked in a shroud of secrecy. Nevertheless, here is that blessing which Isaac pronounced over his firstborn and favorite son, Esau.

Then Isaac his father answered and said,

"Your blessing and dwelling shall all come from the fruitfulness of the earth and the dew of the heavens above. By your sword, (gun), you shall live and serve your brother, (i.e. serve Jacob, the cultured, shepherding, caring brother). But the time will come when you will grow restive, (a wild man), and break loose and you will tear his yoke from off your neck." -Gen.27:39&40.(Amplified Version + GWF amplified);

Here is a four word commentary on this prophecy which is manifesting before us. "No more Mr. Niceguy". We are already seeing the signs of this changing of the guard. Violence dominates the popular imagination and is fed by a huge dreamworks industry of music, word and screen. Sex and violence permeates the entertainment industry. Behind closed doors abortion dismembers and sucks out our unborn children into blood spattered bottles. "Patriot" bombers and abortion doctor assassins retaliate in kind and are even defended in some radical Christian circles. Video games program our children to kill without remorse. Schoolchildren take arsenals of weapons to school at Littleton High and at Jonesboro. They laugh as they shoot down dozens of their classmates. We are growing to be a people without natural affection. Our own children are forgotten in the rush for material things. Rap and hard rock music is pervasive, brutish men are favored and elected to public office, and good honest men finish last. This wasn't always the case. Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers have passed away. These new "unforgiven" men in black are gaining popularity. Drug pushers in the "hood" are capturing the imagination of the younger set. “Bad” means good and young ladies give bad guys the eye. The spirit of Esau is here. We know he will return with a vengeance when he breaks free of what he perceives to be his chains and acts out of his dark inner desires. The nations and ethnic groups are raging and will rage even more as history wrests from them the sovereignty required to bring in the global rulership necessary for peace.

It seems that the final acts of the play are scripted for no-nonsense strong men like Esau. He will rise to the occasion even as the history of this age comes to a climax. Esau is breaking loose. He is casting off of the gentleman's yoke of his more civil Judeo-Christian brother, Jacob. This is just as Isaac prophesied. Esau has pledged to kill Jacob and that theme runs right up to a climax in the age. During the Great Tribulation as henchman for the Antichrist he may well try to do just that. How far will he get? God is still sovereign. He cares for His own. -Ps.91 We can be sure that even in spite of Esau's vendetta against us that God is our refuge and our fortress. He will provide a protection and refuge for His Elect people.

As for Esau's spiritual and/or physical descendants just what can we expect from them? The prophets are uniform in their assessment of Esau's character. He is a profane personality, a man of the flesh. He despises his spiritual birthright and ignores the blessings God has offered him. He doesn't have time for the holy things of God. He will never repent. He has always eluded the flows of grace and he is always angry when he perceives that this present world system has dealt him the short straw or a "raw deal". He is also prone to become angry at God and other covenant partners such as his spouse or sexual partner, his business or work partners, or those who are in authority over him. He is prone to rages and fits of anger and the people close to him are at greatest risk for his domestic violence. We are seeing this increasingly with the road rage and the airline hijackings. In the Middle East we are seeing raging against the nation of Israel. Palestinians are bombing buses and firing upon settlers right in Judah's own land of Judea. The tomb of Joseph in the west bank" was recently desecrated after it was handed over to Palestinian control. They scattered the bones of our patriarch Joseph. The spirit of Esau is insatiable in committing acts of murderous wrath against his brothers and sisters and their children.

ESAU'S ROLE IN THE EXILE OF GOD'S PEOPLE AT BOZRAH.
Where does Esau finally end up? Well late in the great tribulation John saw angry men shaking their fists at God and blaspheming heaven. (Rev.16:9) Is this a vignette of Esau at the very end, still refusing to repent? I believe it well may be. He rejects God right up to the very end. And he rages against God's people.
Apparently nothing short of God's intervention, can stop his fierce anger. God says He hates him. (Mal.1:3) But nevertheless, Isaac's blessing prophesies that Esau will indeed be given his chance in history. God will give him an opportunity to show what is inside him. This is a story that must be played out. And it will be recorded in the books of holy history for all eternity.

ESAU'S ROLE AT BOZRAH IN THE END TIME DRAMA.
AND MESSIAH'S DELIVERANCE OF HIS ELECT AT THE SHEEPFOLDS OF BOZRAH.
Let us look at the coming 70th week or seven year period of holy history. The latter half is known as the time of Jacob's trouble. Jacob is Esau's twin brother. It is probably in this late time interval, the endtime, that the nation of angry, flushed red Edomites, will break free of the restraint of God's covenant. Like Hitler's S.A., the brown shirts, they will trample the usual standards of law and order. Showing disdain for the mores of general decency and consideration for others they will rise up against all godly men. The nation of Esau will apparently be allowed autonomy under the Antichrist. The prophet Daniel tells us that the Edomites will escape out of his hand.-Dan.11:41 The Antichrist will apparently not even bother to mess with them. Will they will be used to serve his purposes? Will Edomite anger be harnessed by the powers of Antichrist for his dark agenda? Could this be possible? It appears that anger against Jacob will indeed be a part of the end-time global scenario. Could Esau be involved in the great tribulation? I believe we have good evidence that he with his profanity, wrath and anger could well be a vital part of the end-time drama. Jacob's character, on the other hand, is that of the nurturing keeper of the flocks. Esau, on the other hand, is the quintessential hunter, the hustler, and the predator. Jacob is the one who has embraced the covenant of promise now found in the culture of the Judeo-Christian family. Esau rejects God's promises and does not esteem his own spiritual inheritance as a son of Abraham. Esau in the end-time will again wrestle with his brother Jacob. This is known as the time of Jacob's trouble. (Jer.30:7) The two will struggle again just as they did before they were born when they wrestled against each other within the womb of their mother, Rebekkah.-Gen.25:22-27

Our apostle Paul informs us that the last days will see an unprecedented apostasy against God by people who previously affirmed that they were people of the faith. (2Thes.2:3) Is this last day apostasy an expression of anger against the covenant of the God of Jacob? If so, then might the 70th week and its abominations be the historic background in which Esau, flushed red in the face with anger, will rise up once more against the God of Jacob and His covenant people?

In Gen.27:39-40 we saw that after Jacob stole Esau's birthright Isaac did indeed have a blessing left over for Esau. That blessing states categorically that Esau would eventually break the yoke of restraint put on him by his nurturing brother Jacob. Esau will break the yoke from off his neck and come out into history to assert himself. Esau, like "the Terminator", affirms, "I'll be back!"

Where is Esau to be found today? In his emergence does he come out from among many nations? This is quite possible. Most Bible commentators have ignored Esau and Edom as a factor in the endtime. But Daniel speaks about it. (Dan. 11:41) And Bible teachers are also silent about the significance of the Messiah returning in wrath and deliverance at Esau's sheepfolds of Bozrah. (Is.63), Mic.2:12-13. They have apparently locked the Edomites up in ancient history and thrown away the key. They have forgotten about them. Is this correct interpretation of Holy Scripture? Is Esau limited to the wastelands south of the Dead Sea? and to the Biblical history of the remote past? Are the children of Esau just a memory? Is the Edomites just a topic for lectures in ancient history, perhaps illustrated by discoveries from some archaeological dig on a ruin near Mount Seir? Is Edom just a ghost of our long lost past, just a half forgotten bad dream wafting around in our collective minds?

Dear saints, it is important that we know and understand that Esau and the nation of Edom is not just so much ancient history. His spirit lives on. The spirit of Esau is not limited to bloodlines and DNA. The spirit of Edom still contests for the souls of men. His big moves are yet future. Daniel places him squarely in the time of the Antichrist. (Dan.11:41) If we look at Esau's character and then look around at the genocides we have seen in this past century and particularly in recent times we shall soon find reason to suspect that the spirit of Esau is very much with us today. The scriptures give us no basis whatsoever for thinking that the spirit has ever been destroyed. Nor has the children of Esau ceased from expressing themselves in the nations.

When the present Pax Americana comes to a close and the curtain of history goes up next time the key players will be different. New characters will enter onto the stage of end time history. The years to come will see the Apocalypse or "unveiling" of our Messiah, Jesus Christ. It will be here, in the time of that climactic witness to the covenant of our Lord Jesus that the modern Edomites shall arise among the antagonists. The scene will be a lot closer to home than the rocky wastelands of Jordan. And it will not be ancient history. And it will be into our modern history that the 21st century Edomites will return. And they will return with a vengeance.

OUR PROPER RESPONSE TO THIS INFORMATION.
GOD IS IN CONTROL OF THE END TIME EVENTS.
HE IS NURTURING HIS COVENANT PEOPLE AT BOZRAH.
APPRECIATING THE COMING GLORIOUS BOZRAH DELIVERANCE.
AND UNDERSTANDING THE FINAL FATE OF ESAU.
This information is for fathers and young men only. -1John 2:12-14 It is difficult for us to face these unpleasant, even fearsome truths. But there is one thing we need to keep in mind through all of this. Our Lord Jesus is in control of all these coming events. And it is not by the strivings of our flesh but rather in Him that we win! Isaiah paints an awesome picture of the returning Messiah coming in at Bozrah. -Isa.63 The prophet Micah also saw the "Breaker", (the Messiah) returning in vengeance to terminate the Great Tribulation at Esau's city of Bozrah. He saw Him come in a great deliverance. Micah says that Messiah finds His sheep as a noisy multitude. He finds them at the end of the age penned up or imprisoned in Bozrah. Bozrah means 'sheepfold'.
This is an incredible scene. All the tribes of Jacob, (this would include all of the combined Jewish/Messianic and the gentile "ecclesia"/"called out congregation"/church remnant),-Gal.3:29, would appear to be in some sort of exile or captivity together. All elements of Jacob, the entire remnant elect of God are gathered together as the "sheep of Bozrah". In ancient times Bozrah was the place of Esau's sheepfolds. Yet Edomites were never renowned as a people of gentle shepherding. Being penned up in Esau's sheepfolds might not be the nicest place for God to gather His endtime elect. So what is the message here in this intriguing Hebrew picture story? Is Bozrah some sort of a tribulational global incarceration network out of which God delivers His exiled remnant people? Or might Bozrah be one single geographical place which fits the spiritual description of the ancient sheepfolds of Bozrah? -Mic.2:12-13. It is against this background of end time Edomite domination that the "Breaker", our returning Christ/Messiah returns. Isaiah sees Him return at the Bozrah/sheepfolds, a pastoral town in the ancient territory of Edom.

Micah 2
2:12 I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.

2:13 The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
Micah 2:12-13

The returning Messiah as we see Him in this perspective appears in the midst of His people there at the sheepfold of Bozrah. It is time for a breakout! The returning Messiah comes as the Shepherd at the dawn of the new day. He breaks them out in the manner of the shepherd breaking open the rock enclosure that had kept his sheep penned up during the night. He returns in deliverance of His own. He also comes in wrath and vengeance against the enemies of His people. -Isa.63.  Micah sees Him as He breaks open a passage out of the sheepfold just as the new day is dawning. And so He leads his people out in a joyous release and on to the green pastures of His Davidic Messianic Kingdom. This Bozrah story is as much a part of the the return of Christ as is the story of His return in the clouds of heaven to gather His elect.-Mat.24:29-3, 1Thes.4:17 And it is also as much a part of the story as His coming at Jezreel in the battle of Armageddon which brings deliverance to His people at Jerusalem.-Zech 12, Rev.16 This unexplained element, the Bozrah story, is an important part of the apocalypse. It has not yet been addressed or expounded upon and the vast majority of teachers and commentators on bible prophecy have completely neglected it. But it is exceedingly important that we know that our Lord returns to judge His enemies. He will surely deliver His hard pressed people. This is why He comes in vengeance at Bozrah. He is not slack concerning His promises. Nor will He abandon His own. As we come into the endtime we must know that. He is surely coming. He will deal justly. He will bring wrath on His enemies. And He will bring His own people out in a glorious deliverance. His coming back to earth again is our blessed hope.-Titus 2:13 He is surely coming. What an awesome day of deliverance that will be!-Mic.2:12&13.

Gaza objectives bigger than commonly assumed

It's a gross misunderstanding of what is unfolding in Gaza to believe Israel’s motives are capricious. The politicians and generals have been preparing for this attack for many months.

Nazareth, Israel - There are two persistent myths about the aim of Israel’s onslaught on Gaza: the first that it is an entirely defensive move, a way to end the rocket fire of Hamas; and the second that it is designed to restore the army’s credibility after its failure to cow Hizbollah in 2006.

No doubt the Israeli army has been itching to repair its battered image, and for sure the rocket attacks from Gaza create domestic pressures that are only too clear to an Israeli government about to face an election.

But it is a gross misunderstanding of what is unfolding in Gaza to believe Israel’s motives are capricious. The politicians and generals have been preparing for this attack for many months, possibly years – a fact alone that suggests they have bigger objectives than commonly assumed.

Israel seized this particular moment – with western politicians dozing through the holidays and a change over of administrations in Washington – because it ensured the longest period to implement its plan without diplomatic interference.

The pressure on Israel to reach a political settlement will grow, however, as the inauguration of Barack Obama on Jan 20 approaches. That explains why, as the army brings ever greater force to bear on Hamas’s urban heartlands, the outlines of an Israeli plan are starting to become visible.

Despite talk in Israel that a chance to topple Hamas is within reach, that option does not have to be pursued. Israel’s aims can be achieved whether Hamas stays or falls – as long as it is crushed politically.

Certainly, a permanent re-occupation of the enclave with its 1.5 million inhabitants is not desired by Israel, which withdrew its settlers and soldiers in 2005 precisely because the demographic, economic and military costs of directly policing Gaza’s refugee camps were considered too high.

It therefore needs another ceasefire similar to the one that expired on Dec 19. The questions are: who will “sign” it and what will be its terms?

Writing in The Jerusalem Post newspaper this week, Martin Kramer, a leading Washington neoconservative analyst on Middle East issues, suggested that Israel’s goal was to forge an agreement with Mahmoud Abbas and restore his rule in Gaza. “Hamas would swallow the pill in the name of ‘national unity’,” he argued.

The idea that Mr Abbas and his Fatah party can ride into the Gaza Strip on the back of Israeli tanks may be a fantasy that makes sense to the neocons who brought us “regime change” in Iraq, but few in the Israeli government or army seem to believe it is feasible.

In any case, the distinction between Fatah’s “rule” over the West Bank ghettoes Israel has created and Hamas’s oversight of the prison that Gaza has become is one Israel appears keen to maintain. The Israeli vision for the West Bank, in which significant parts are annexed, depends on its political severance from Gaza.

Instead, Israel is again pursuing its favourite mode of diplomacy: unilateralism. According to officials quoted in the local media, it wants a deal that is approved by the United States and western governments but passes over the heads of Hamas and the Palestinians.

At a recent cabinet meeting, Tzipi Livni, the foreign minister, put it this way: “There is no intention here of creating a diplomatic agreement with Hamas. We need diplomatic agreements against Hamas.”

According to the latest reports, the ceasefire would require, as before, that Hamas prevent all rocket fire out of the Strip, but it would also introduce what officials are vaguely terming a “mechanism” on the only border with Gaza not under Israel’s control.

During its lengthy blockade, Israel has been able to prevent goods, including food, medicines and fuel, from entering the Gaza Strip through crossing points on its two land borders while its navy patrols the sea coast. But Gaza also shares a short southern land border, next to the town of Rafah, with Egypt.

Before the 2005 disengagement, Israel sought to control this fourth border too by bulldozing swathes of Palestinian homes to create a no-man’s land between Rafah and Egypt. This area, overlooked by military watchtowers, was referred to as the Philadelphi corridor.

After the withdrawal, Israel hoped the steel wall along the Rafah border and its oversight of the crossing point into Egypt would ensure that nothing went in or out without its approval.

However, a small private industry of tunnelling under the wall quickly burgeoned, becoming a lifeline for ordinary Gazans and a route for smuggling in weapons for Hamas.

Egypt had little choice but to turn a blind eye, despite being profoundly uncomfortable with an Islamic party ruling next door. It faces its own domestic pressures over the humanitarian catastrophe that has been visibly created in Gaza.

Israel believes the current invasion will have achieved nothing unless this time it regains absolute control of the Rafah border, undercutting Hamas’s claims to be running the Strip. The “mechanism” therefore requires that technical responsibility is lifted from Egyptian shoulders.

According to the Israeli plan, it will pass to the Americans, whose expertise will be called on to stop the tunnelling and prevent Hamas from rebuilding its arsenal after the invasion comes to an end.

Israel may additionally seek the involvement of international forces to diffuse the censure the Arab publics are likely to direct at Egypt as a result.

Once Hamas has no hope of rearming and cannot take any credit for the Gazans’ welfare, Israel will presumably allow in sufficient supplies of humanitarian aid to pacify western governments concerned about the images of Gaza’s cold and hungry children.

Ghassan Khatib, a Palestinian analyst, believes that in this scenario Israel would probably insist that such supplies come only through the Egyptian crossing, thereby “fulfilling another strategic aim: that of making Gaza Egypt’s responsibility”.

And once the Gazan albatross is lifted from Israel’s neck, Mr Abbas and his West Bank regime will be more isolated than ever. Undoubtedly, the hope in Israel is that, with Gaza disposed of, the pressure will grow on the Palestinian Authority to concede in a “peace” deal yet more Palestinian land in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

I can't stand it. Every time I look at this picture I want to burn my Hebrew dictionaries, my Yiddish books, and my Chumesh. Literally thousands of Germans died trying to rid the world of Hitler. Where are the righteous Jews? Aside from a few refuseniks and a handful of ineffectual pacifists in the State of Israel and a very few Jewish friends I see at demonstrations for Gaza, there seems to be little outrage at what the former concentration-camp kapos who run the State of Israel are doing to hijack Jewry. Every rabbi who hasn't spoken out is as guilty as Haman for the murder of the Jews! But then I stop to think. I'm an American. Thousands of little girls like this one have been blown apart, raped by baboons in U.S. uniforms, died horribly... all using my tax money. And all we Americans did was organize non-violent demonstrations. All the while, most of my fellow-countrymen ignored us. This country is the heir to Hitler, and Israel is its cat's paw. Every bomb has "Made in America" stamped on it. The Zionist State has "Made in America" stamped on it.

Death to the Zionist State of Israel! Death to the U.S.A.!

Israel advances on Gaza City

Israeli ground forces are advancing on Gaza City and facing strong resistance from Palestinian fighters on the 16th day of the assault on the besieged territory.

Medical sources told Reuters news agency that 10 Palestinian fighters had been killed in clashes in the outskirts of the city on Sunday morning.

Ayman Mohyeldin, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Gaza City, reported that there had been intense fighting and Israeli advances.

Israeli tanks remained positioned on the edge of the city to the north and east, while a column of tanks to the south advanced only to later pull back.

Air raids took place in southern and south eastern areas of the Gaza Strip, as well as in the northern Beit Lahia and northwestern Jabalya.

Ehud Olmert, the Israeli prime minister, said that his country was nearing its objective in the offensive but that it must fight on to achieve its goals of halting Palestinian rocket fire into Israel.

The Israeli security council is thought to be discussing whether phase three of the Gaza offensive should be implemented - a phase which will put ground troops further into the Gaza Strip.

James Bays, Al Jazeera's correspondent on the Gaza-Israel border, said: "Israel's leaders did not want to get to phase three.

"They were hoping to meet their military aims after phase one and two, achieving the mechanism they want in Gaza and stopping weapons smuggling from Egypt.

"But they feel their objectives have not been met yet. Phase three could be very dangerous for the Israeli soldiers. Hamas knows the territories very well and are preparing for the urban battle.

"Political leaders in Israel are under pressure. However, there is a strong public support for the war.

"The meeting today will look at phase three and at the end game of this operation."

Escalation warnings

The attempted advance comes after Israel dropped leaflets warning Gaza residents of a "widening offensive".

Attacks had continued during the night with Israeli tanks and infantry units moving into southwest Gaza City and exchanges of fire occurring with Palestinian fighters.

Israel claimed it shelled about 60 targets throughout the Gaza Strip overnight, hitting weapons depots, tunnels and a mosque.

At least four Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded, Palestinian medics said.

Three Palestinian rockets were fired into Israel, two hitting the southern city of Beer'sheva, without causing injuries.

The Palestinian death toll since the beginning of the offensive is 875, with about 3,700 being wounded. Thirteen Israelis have been killed during the same period, including three civilians hit by rockets fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel.

Fleeing citizens

Palestinian citizens have fled areas under continued Israeli shelling and regions which have received warnings of attacks.

Many Gazans left their homes in the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood in southwest Gaza City shortly after dawn, witnesses said.

Fares Akram, a human rights worker in Gaza City, told Al Jazeera: "Yesterday they dropped fliers into a new area ... warning residents that the Israeli army will be escalating and intensifying its operations against what it calls terrorist elements.

"They were warning the residents to keep themselves away from any store containing weapons and away from the tunnels used to smuggle and away from the terrorist cells.

"But the residents here don't know where to go. The Gaza Strip is very small and the missiles and bombs have been landing almost everywhere. And the recent flier they try to terrify the people even more.

"The day before yesterday the tanks in northern Gaza advanced even more, forcing more people to flee their houses, including [us], because we hear so much about Israeli atrocities in the north and the south east of Gaza.

"So when we get to the new area ... fliers were dropped there ... trying to warn the people who had just evacuated their houses that the Israeli forces were continuing their campaign behind them."

Diplomacy ignored

Both Israel and Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, have ignored international calls for a cessation to fighting and Egyptian attempts to negotiate a ceasefire.

More than 870 Palestinians and 13 Israelis have died since the offensive began [AFP]

Khaled Meshaal, Gaza's political leader in exile in Damascus, the Syrian capital, said: "The enemy has succeeded in creating a holocaust on the soil of Gaza.

"Therefore, I address the Israelis and say to them 'what have you achieved through this war you have supported?' And you supported your leaders to conduct it.

"You have achieved nothing but killing innocent children and leaving Gaza in a sea of blood."

Talks are continuing between a delegation of Hamas leaders in Cairo with Omar Suleiman, the Egyptian intelligence chief, over a possible ceasefire agreement. Egypt is expected to call for a 48-hour truce during which negotiations can take place.

Calls are mounting for Israel to allow aid into the Gaza Strip, which has remained  short of essential food and medical supplies due to a blockade of the territory by Israel for the past 18 months.

However, there remain barriers to distribution of such aid once inside the Strip, with agencies' security being poorly assured. Last week a UN employee was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier, forcing the organisation to temporarily suspend work in the region.

US Plans Massive Arms Delivery to Israel

The Pentagon plans to make a large arms delivery to Israel, rising fears that the military campaign in Gaza will go on for a long time.

By Press TV
http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=81515&sectionid=351020202

January 10, 2009 "Press TV" -- The US is trying to hire a merchant ship that can carry hundreds of tons of weapons from Greece to Israel later this month; Reuters reported citing tender documents it had obtained.
http://uk.reuters.com/article/usTopNews/idUKTRE50875320090109

According to the US Navy's Military Sealift Command (MSC), the ship will transport 325 standard 20-foot containers of what has been called 'ammunition' from the Greek port of Astakos to the Israeli port of Ashdod on two separate trips in the second half of January.

A description on the manifest says the containers will be loaded with 'hazardous material', such as explosive substances and detonators, without giving any more details.

The Pentagon announced the tender for the ship in the last hours of 2008. The two deadlines set for the deliveries are January 25 and the last day of the month.

Meanwhile, a Pentagon spokesman confirmed the planned arms shipment to Israel, but denied that the delivery was linked to the Israel's deadly offensive in Gaza.

"This previously scheduled shipment is routine and not in support of the current situation in Gaza," said Air Force Lt. Col. Patrick Ryder.

However, a senior military analyst in London, who wished to remain unnamed, said the timing of the shipments shows that they may be 'irregular' and linked to the military operation in Gaza.

The tender for the ship followed a December US arms delivery to Israel, which was also carried out by a merchant ship.

This is while shipping brokers in London who have carried out weapon deliveries for the British and US military in the past say that shipment of such a large cargo of weapons to Israel is rare.

"Shipping 3,000-odd tons of ammunition in one go is a lot… this is pretty rare and we haven't seen much of it quoted in the market over the years," one broker said, on condition of anonymity.

Tender documents indicate that the German ship hired by the US in early December also carried a massive cargo of weapons that weighed over 2.6 million kg and filled up to 989 standard 20-foot containers to Ashdod from North Carolina.

In September, the US Congress approved a plan to sell Israel 1,000 bunker-buster bombs, of the Guided Bomb Unit-39 (GBU-39), that use GPS to find their way and are able to penetrate deep fortified constructions, such as Iran's nuclear facilities.

Last week, The Jerusalem Post, reported that the first shipment of the missiles arrived in early December, adding that the bombs had been used in the military onslaught in Gaza.

So far, Israel's 15-day offensive in the besieged Palestinian enclave has claimed the lives of more than 800 Palestinians and wounded almost 3500.

Hamas on the other hand says Palestinian fighters have so far killed at least 30 Israeli soldiers and wounded more than 80 others.

What You Don’t Know About Gaza

By Rashid Khalidi
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/08/opinion/08khalidi.html

January 10, 2009 "NY Times" NEARLY everything you’ve been led to believe about Gaza is wrong. Below are a few essential points that seem to be missing from the conversation, much of which has taken place in the press, about Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip.

THE GAZANS Most of the people living in Gaza are not there by choice. The majority of the 1.5 million people crammed into the roughly 140 square miles of the Gaza Strip belong to families that came from towns and villages outside Gaza like Ashkelon and Beersheba. They were driven to Gaza by the Israeli Army in 1948.

THE OCCUPATION The Gazans have lived under Israeli occupation since the Six-Day War in 1967. Israel is still widely considered to be an occupying power, even though it removed its troops and settlers from the strip in 2005. Israel still controls access to the area, imports and exports, and the movement of people in and out. Israel has control over Gaza’s air space and sea coast, and its forces enter the area at will. As the occupying power, Israel has the responsibility under the Fourth Geneva Convention to see to the welfare of the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.

THE BLOCKADE Israel’s blockade of the strip, with the support of the United States and the European Union, has grown increasingly stringent since Hamas won the Palestinian Legislative Council elections in January 2006. Fuel, electricity, imports, exports and the movement of people in and out of the Strip have been slowly choked off, leading to life-threatening problems of sanitation, health, water supply and transportation.

The blockade has subjected many to unemployment, penury and malnutrition. This amounts to the collective punishment — with the tacit support of the United States — of a civilian population for exercising its democratic rights.

THE CEASE-FIRE Lifting the blockade, along with a cessation of rocket fire, was one of the key terms of the June cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. This accord led to a reduction in rockets fired from Gaza from hundreds in May and June to a total of less than 20 in the subsequent four months (according to Israeli government figures). The cease-fire broke down when Israeli forces launched major air and ground attacks in early November; six Hamas operatives were reported killed.

WAR CRIMES The targeting of civilians, whether by Hamas or by Israel, is potentially a war crime. Every human life is precious. But the numbers speak for themselves: Nearly 700 Palestinians, most of them civilians, have been killed since the conflict broke out at the end of last year. In contrast, there have been around a dozen Israelis killed, many of them soldiers. Negotiation is a much more effective way to deal with rockets and other forms of violence. This might have been able to happen had Israel fulfilled the terms of the June cease-fire and lifted its blockade of the Gaza Strip.

This war on the people of Gaza isn’t really about rockets. Nor is it about “restoring Israel’s deterrence,” as the Israeli press might have you believe. Far more revealing are the words of Moshe Yaalon, then the Israeli Defense Forces chief of staff, in 2002: “The Palestinians must be made to understand in the deepest recesses of their consciousness that they are a defeated people.”
Rashid Khalidi, a professor of Arab studies at Columbia, is the author of the forthcoming “Sowing Crisis: The Cold War and American Dominance in the Middle East."

very interesting bit of background info on the settlements

Israel's "Colonies" - Anna Baltzer
(4mins)
http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=-rCBJjCiLGc

Extracts of A Witness in Palestine, written by Anna Baltzer. Anna Baltzer, a young Jewish American, went to the West Bank to discover the realities of daily life for Palestinians under the occupation. What she found would change her outlook on the conflict forever. She wrote this book to give voice to the stories of the people who welcomed her with open arms as their lives crumbled around them. For five months, Baltzer lived and worked with farmers, Palestinian and Israeli activists, and the families of political prisoners, traveling with them across endless checkpoints and roadblocks to reach hospitals, universities, and olive groves. Baltzer witnessed firsthand the environmental devastation brought on by expanding settlements and outposts and the destruction wrought by Israels Security Fence, which separates many families from each other, their communities, their land, and basic human services. What emerges from Baltzers journal is not a sensationalist tale of suicide bombers and conspiracies, but a compelling and inspiring description of the trials of daily life under the occupation. Anna Baltzer is a Jewish American graduate of Columbia University, Fulbright scholar, and two-time volunteer with the International Womens Peace Service in the West Bank, where she documented human rights abuses and supported the nonviolent resistance movement to the occupation.
