After watching this video, it makes me madder that the Palestinian people are treated with such disrespect by the Israeli government and the IDF.

Don't let em get to you, they know your an asset here on PP forum, that's why they target you  Wink

many thanks, I will remember your steel capped boots when I want to dish out a kicking to them, LOL

indeed once you get better known the scumbags come out the woodwork to snipe at you, one of the good things about this place is the scumbags are kept in check by regular banning (unlike say GLP or haloscan stuff)

the thread on this topic at GLP, 50 pages long is overrun with megaphonie scumbags, which is what happenes when the mods refuse to take sides

look at comments section in website after website and they are filled with morons and megaphonies, like an unpleasant rash everywhere all coming out at the same time, all alerted by the Megaphone software and allocated places to troll

There you are Biggs, calling people morons again and even CALLING for bans.

Here's the deal buddy, and I don't care how large your post count is:
1 - Censorship is NOT a pretty thing, OK? Mods don't have to ban anyone just because you don't like their comments
2 - You can use the word 'moron' all day long, it doesn't make your arguments any more persuasive. If you were REALLY mature, you would lay off the pottymouth words and talk like a REAL ADULT.

Anyway, I don't want to get into an argument with you, but please remove your ego from the equation and start talking to people like fellow human beings please.

a moron is a moron is a moron, why dress it up in different language

PP forum does censor views which are not welcome, which I applaud as it means very little time is wasted arguing the toss with idiots

and moron is not a swear word, F*** Off is however.

GOOD ON SYRIA AND TURKEY!!

(Yes, I'm shouting that!)

Piss on Obama and his "Isreal is justified." (Yes, I used a swear word, and I'll do it again- PISS ON OBAMA and his complacency and disinterest in the atrocious inhumanity of these actions!)

Syria halts indirect peace negotiations
By JPOST.COM STAFF AND AP

Syria has notified Turkey that it was ceasing all indirect negotiations with Israel following the IAF's offensive on Hamas installations in the Gaza Strip.

One Syrian government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said that "Israel's aggression closes all the doors" to any move toward a settlement in the region.

Turkey's prime minister on Sunday denounced Israel's air assault on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip as a "crime against humanity" and called for it to end.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of using "disproportionate force" and said the attacks were a "blow to peace."

"To go and bomb these defenseless people, and to openly say that this operation will be a long-lasting one, that it will be this or that, to me, is a serious crime against humanity," Erdogan said at a meeting of his ruling Islamic-rooted party.

Turkey is Israel's closest ally in the Muslim world but Erdogan said he was appalled that the attacks came as his country was mediating peace talks between Syria and Israel. He said the attacks were a "show of disrespect" toward Turkey.

In Damascus, thousands of Syrian protested the IDF's assault on Gaza. The demonstrators were carrying pictures of President Bashar Assad and Syrian flags and shouting slogans condemning Israel and the United States. Several protesters were burning American flags.

Similar protests were held in Beirut, Lebanon, Amman in Jordan and Sana'a in Yemen.

Hizbullah sources told the London-based Al Hayat that the Lebanese Shi'ite terror group had no intention of reacting to Israeli attacks on Gaza. According to the sources, Hizbullah had no interest in "threatening to hurt the stability in south Lebanon."

Israeli warplanes were circling the Lebanese airspace throughout the night, the Al Jazeera TV network reported.

For those of you that hate the jews...that think this is all about the jews in the wrong, that they are only zionists..here is an interesting and eye-opening look at what brought things to this point. Written by one that has experienced it.
"After 7 years of bombardment from Gaza into Israeli towns and
villages this failed Israeli Government finally took action to stop
Hamas who were once a small terrorist group but today a 20,000 strong
well trained army supplied by Iran. I woke this morning to see how
terrible us Jews are by killing "Palestinian children" in Gaza. For 7
years they have targeted our civilian population with no out-cries
from the world's media. When our children were being blown to pieces
and baby body parts were scattered across the streets of our cities
there was no out-cry. The question must be asked why is Jewish life
so cheap that the world doesn't care how we are treated or murdered.

Before Israel hit Hamas there was months even years of intelligence
gathering in order to not hit civilians or as little civilian
collateral damage as possible. But when you have a terrorist group
that hides in crowded populations and shoots there missiles from back-
yards, school-yards, and Mosques it is not so easy to go after them
without some collateral damage. The one thing I am certain of is
there are no other governments in the world that would try as hard as
we do to not kill civilians, even when these civilians, when asks,
will tell you they want to kill Jews. And have been raised from
childhood to believe to kill Jews and Infidels pleases Allah."

Now....tell me that all of Israel is at fault in this!

And here comes the perfect Hegelian dialectic exposed again on the prison planet forum...

Although a majority of the members here are level headed about the obvious divisions these activities are causing...

Here comes the perfect staged post about creating extremist views in this forum.

We have already seen the "kill all the jews" extremism being touted.

Now we have the other side of the Hegelian dialectic...

"Israel is justified in commiting war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide."

Anyone posting such absolute bullshit (as Biggs identified pretty quickly) is obviously provoking a division within the truth movement.

Israel is commiting genocide, there is little doubt of it.  They have been starving the palestinian people for a long time and it eventually comes to a head.  The questions that need to be asked is who else is supporting this shit?

Why is the wahabbi power base not involved?

Why does the US continue to provide weapons, intelligence to Israel and 4x as much to its neighbors?

Why is the British Empire acting as if they are impotent during such critical junctures?

Why are there 100x more articles about this conflict than the 1.5 million innocent civilians executed in the Iraq/Afghan genocides?

A chessgame requires much analysis and this conflict is just another chess move by Rockefeller/Rothschild/Beatrix/CFR/Bilderberg.

It is genocide, as I said earlier blaming the palestinian people/Hamas is like blaming some gypsies for the holocaust.  It defies all logic.

That vid was saddening. Israel isolates them, controls their perimeter, treats them like dogs, and yet they are angered when the Gazans lash out. There is no justice there, just persecution.
I sure hope the Iranial supply ship makes it there, but I'm sure the globalists will make sure it doesn't.

It's a good question and I suspect the answer is twofold: the masses are a little tired of hearing about Iraq and Afghanistan (it's become too boring to keep their attention); secondly, TPTB want us focussed on Israel and Gaza for some unknown reason (and I doubt it's as simple as being a strategic media decision to sell more advertising).

Same could be said about why the U.S. media isn't all over the destruction of the American Constitution, or the horrific tyranny in China and Saudi Arabia, or the 9/11 crime for that matter.

This has been building up for a long time (cutting the heel of Hamas in Gaza).

I'm surprised that the bunch of you would be taken by the sad video- you infowarriors should know better than that! (Note the other postings from the same account).

Here is some academic background to help your mind work through the emotive responses you may have: Arabs living in Gaza (a small stretch of beachfront property in the Med) recently enjoyed full access to the area. What do I mean? I mean that the state of Israel closed down all of the "jewish settlements" in Gaza several years ago- in an attempt for peace (and complying with the US led "Roadmap"). They forcibly removed Gazans (who were Jewish) into Israel, and took a political hit from the neo-Zionists (religious jews who believe Israel encompasses all of the land promised by God- which includes parts of Jordan and Syria to be honest).

Arabs in Gaza chose in their elections the Hamas party (ousting the former Fatah). Hamas is much more militant, and organized to fight off the Israelis in a patriotic stand for their land (in this case Gaza- leave the West Bank out for the time being, which is still run by Fatah). Gazans witnessed Hamas squads creating rocket launching pads in their residential neighborhoods, and firing Qassam rockets for YEARS (the Qassam is a great rocket, and really exemplifies the dedication the jihadists are using to free their land- I'd love the blueprints for that one!)

Once Israel removed all the settlers, and gave both to Gaza and West Bank full autonomy in some areas, they were able to deal with "Palestine" in a sovereign state-to-state way. Israel on several occasions responded to rocket fire from Gaza with artillery barrages (sound akin to the 2nd Israeli invasion of Lebanon for just the same reason- rockets?)

This round, the Israelis have an opportunity with building up pressure in the M.E. to get more attention (and also to ensure they continue to receive funding) with the lame-duck still hanging around, and Obama Hussein running from the press pools. Israel is under massive internal pressure to respond to rocket attacks with force, and this incident of a rocket heading as far North as Ashdod confounds the pressure (so many more people living now under the arc of one of these Qassams!)

Rak Ha Emet's analysis: For Amerikans, it matters "who attacked first" so I'll respond to that. Funny thing- it depends on when you start marking time. Most Amerikans don't know the distant past, nor care- if so, then Hamas has been poking Israel with a sharp fingernail in the neck for years from Gaza. Finally, Israel, tired of getting poked and seeing a little blood, gets up, grabs a sledgehammer, and hits back.

For those of you who have read about the past, you already know that the Arabs in Palestine never successfully completed their Nationalism movement in the post colonial world, and are still fighting it. Imported Jews with help from world jewry did complete that task in 1947, and therein is the source of conflict. The "Palestinians" are fighting to become a state in this age of the death of the state- the New World Order. They're so far behind the curve sociologically, there is very little hope they'll be content with the land they have, and will use their sharp fingernails to try to make a sovereign state so uncomfortable as to "give up".

i cannot find in my heart a full cup of compassion for neither the victims of the qassams, nor the Gazan civilians who have died. On one side, folks in S'derot, Ashkelon (and now Ashdod) can move out if they like (but being within rocket-range means lower property values, and it is easier to buy there). The stupid schmucks in Gaza who have looked out their windows, and saw agents of the government they elected firing rockets from pads next to the school their kids attend... well... their tears will not wet my hanky.

You see- its not so easy. One one hand, we have a courageous liberation movement, and on the other, a sovereign state confined to all pressures.

p.s. btw, word has it that the State of Israel created Hamas as a counter for the Fatah back in the '60s... Israel has its very own homegrown Osama Bin Ladin...

...and the rocket's red glare... the bombs bursting in air...   hurray for the fireworks!

Same could be said about why the U.S. media isn't all over the destruction of the American Constitution, or the horrific tyranny in China and Saudi Arabia, or the 9/11 crime for that matter.

Actually it may be a bit more complex.  The masses are hardly tired of hearing information about the genocide in Iraq/Afghan or the search engines would not direct you to an Israel/Gaza story if you search for "Iraq death" or "Afghan kill", etc. (try it, like 50% of the stories will focus on Israel rather than Iraq/occupation by US/etc.)

This is obviously a controlled media hype to cause a neo-con zionist v. progressive and anti-semitic division right before Israeli elections and US transfer of executive power to Obama.

Reporting the information without being swept up into the division is not an easy task and those that are doing it should be commended.

Rockefeller/Rothschild/Beatrix/CFR/Bilderberg are using the entire thing to create as much division as possible prior to their next false flag attack.

As far as why there are few stories about the destruction of the constitution, there are more obvious reasons.

Rockefeller and the Rockefeller foundation (along with Cecil Rhodes original plans) have been not allowing these reports for over 30 years.

I disagree OldSchool. Israel is trying to do what we should have done along the Southern Border already. Put up a wall, only allow folks with a visa in...

I don't see how israel is treading them like dogs. By closing off the border is to treat them like dogs? So, you're for NAU?Huh?

Truly, they can't be isolated, as Gaza also borders Egypt, and if these Gazans were friendly with the Egyptians, then Egypt could open its borders, no? Were you aware that Gaza also bordered Egypt?

What most don't know is that these Gazans enjoy work visas in israel. They're hired as cheap labor (much akin to Mexicans down South). If Tiajuanna started firing rockets at Sacramento, would the Kalifornians be so horrible if they closed up the border and revoked all the work visas?

Treating them like dogs? I can't see that. They have their place, and likely, if they didn't shoot any rockets into Sacremento, no one would care what they're doing (and even more importantly, there would be 1.5 million people needing toilet paper, cell phones, building materials.... it would be in a merchant's best interest if everything was calm, cool, and collected).

btw, don't believe everything you see on youtube- the arab journalists have already been caught doctoring photos, and/or using photos of other incidents in the past to bolster the emotive factor in sheep. don't be sheepish!

The zionist regime is an illegal entity created and maintained through violence and the treat of violence against civilians, i.e. terrorism. It is a terrorist state.

However, I agree with those who have posted that this current despicable attack from the zionists seems to be in some way a deliberate inflamation of the situation as a possible provokation to something wider and much more serious and bloody. So how to react?

The Jews currently living in the illegal entity must throw off the zionist regime and agree to live like human beings with the Muslim Palestinian people in a ONE state solution. This is the only way to defeat the NWO in Palestine. This will require that the racist aparteid laws to maintain a racist Jewish demographic be abolished and equality for each individual.

The media is deliberately creating a massive anti-(illegal entity) fervour which seems to be the NWO plan right now, so should we play along? I don't think so.

Meanwhile as Palestinians are fleeing Israeli destruction of pharmacies (the Bill Clinton method of mass murder) and other buildings, how does Egypt react?
http://mydailyclarity.com/2008/12/egyptians-open-fire-on-palestinians-fleeing-gaza/

There are reports emerging that Egyptian border guards have shot at Palestinians desperately attempting to flee the Israeli air bombardment of the Gaza. Reports are still emergent so details of any fatalities or casualties are not yet known. Egypt has already faced Arab censure for its complicity in the Gaza blockade prior to the attack. This development will do nothing to soften the broader Arab world’s view that Egypt is following Israeli dictates so as to gather favor with the US Administration. The follwoing report is from Egypt’s Press Association:

“Egyptian border guards have opened fire on Palestinians who breached the border to escape Israel’s assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in.

At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.

A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.

Residents have also commandeered a bulldozer to open new breaches.

Palestinians reported several people were wounded by the gunfire.

Israeli aircraft earlier bombed the border area in an apparent attempt to destroy cross border tunnels used to smuggle weapons and contraband into the Gaza Strip.

Dr Abdel Qader Higazi, a representative of the Egyptian Doctor’s Syndicate in Rafah said Egyptian authorities closed the border crossing after allowing several trucks of medical supplies into Gaza.”

Israeli tanks gathering at Gaza border

From correspondents in Gaza City

Agence France-Presse

December 29, 2008 12:31am

ISRAELI tanks have massed today at the border with the Gaza Strip, as Israel warned it could launch a ground attack in addition to its aerial bombardment of Hamas targets in the enclave.

Dozens of tanks and armoured personnel carriers were massing at different locations along the Gaza-Israel border.

Israel has  called up 6500 reserve soldiers as Defence Minister Ehud Barak warned that it could send in ground troops in addition to a mammoth air bombardment unleashed on Hamas-run Gaza in retaliation for continuing rocket fire.

The air strikes have killed more than 280 Palestinians and wounded more than 600 others in less than two days, according to Gaza medics.

Here's an interesting twist: Arab civil war or disinfo?

Analyst: Plots hatched in Cairo, implemented in Gaza Tehran, Dec 28, IRNA
http://www1.irna.ir/en/news/view/line-203/0812280887185528.htm

Iran-Palestine-Analyst
A political analyst in Tehran said on Sunday that the atrocities of the Zionist regime in Gaza Strip on Saturday was jointly orchestrated by Cairo and Tel Aviv to isolate and eradicate Palestinian resistance in Gaza Strip.

The Zionist regime targeted Gaza with some 60 jet fighters on Saturday and all evidence and news indicate that it was a plot jointly masterminded by the Zionist and a number of Arab heads of states, said the analyst.

Exchange of views in the past two days between the foreign minister of the Zionist regime and the head of self-rule Palestinian Authority with Egyptian officials in Cairo as well as authorities in Amman and Saudi Arabia preceded the large-scale inhuman crimes in Gaza, he said.

"We are now witnessing a real war in Gaza which is to uproot people's resistance and try to bring them to their knees," pointed out the analyst.

Egyptian leadership who played a reconciliation role in the Arab world indicated that they have exerted the most pressure over people's resistance and in fact they seek to move in line with the Zionists' goals, he said.

Cairo cannot open Rafah crossing without permission from Tel Aviv and this can only be obtained through submission of Palestinian resistance, he said.

The silence of Arab and western countries has emboldened the Zionist regime not to hesitate to savagely target innocent civilians in Gaza, he said.

The visit of the Zionist foreign minister to Cairo and the submission of Egyptian government on targeting oppressed people in Gaza shows the extent to which this Arab country had a share in the crimes committed by the Zionists in Gaza, he said.

Al-Qods daily on its Sunday edition reported that the head of Egypt's information ministry has declared to Arab states that the Zionist regime is to launch a limited military operation in Gaza Strip, said the analyst.

Palestinian people are determined to continue their course and never give up their legitimate rights in fighting the Zionist occupiers, added the analyst.

Yeah, it was orchestrated with the help of Egypt!!

Disinformation, secrecy and lies: How the Gaza offensive came about
By Barak Ravid, Haaretz Correspondent
Tags: Hamas, Israel, Gaza

Long-term preparation, careful gathering of information, secret discussions, operational deception and the misleading of the public - all these stood behind the Israel Defense Forces "Cast Lead" operation against Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, which began Saturday morning.

The disinformation effort, according to defense officials, took Hamas by surprise and served to significantly increase the number of its casualties in the strike.

Sources in the defense establishment said Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the Israel Defense Forces to prepare for the operation over six months ago, even as Israel was beginning to negotiate a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. According to the sources, Barak maintained that although the lull would allow Hamas to prepare for a showdown with Israel, the Israeli army needed time to prepare, as well.

Barak gave orders to carry out a comprehensive intelligence-gathering drive which sought to map out Hamas' security infrastructure, along with that of other militant organizations operating in the Strip.

This intelligence-gathering effort brought back information about permanent bases, weapon silos, training camps, the homes of senior officials and coordinates for other facilities.

The plan of action that was implemented in Operation Cast Lead remained only a blueprint until a month ago, when tensions soared after the IDF carried out an incursion into Gaza during the ceasefire to take out a tunnel which the army said was intended to facilitate an attack by Palestinian militants on IDF troops.

On November 19, following dozens of Qassam rockets and mortar rounds which exploded on Israeli soil, the plan was brought for Barak's final approval. Last Thursday, on December 18, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the defense minister met at IDF headquarters in central Tel Aviv to approve the operation.

However, they decided to put the mission on hold to see whether Hamas would hold its fire after the expiration of the ceasefire. They therefore put off bringing the plan for the cabinet's approval, but they did inform Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni of the developments.

That night, in speaking to the media, sources in the Prime Minister's Bureau said that "if the shooting from Gaza continues, the showdown with Hamas would be inevitable." On the weekend, several ministers in Olmert's cabinet inveighed against him and against Barak for not retaliating for Hamas' Qassam launches.

"This chatter would have made Entebe or the Six Day War impossible," Barak said in responding to the accusations. The cabinet was eventually convened on Wednesday, but the Prime Minister's Bureau misinformed the media in stating the discussion would revolve around global jihad. The ministers learned only that morning that the discussion would actually pertain to the operation in Gaza.

In its summary announcement for the discussion, the Prime Minister's Bureau devoted one line to the situation in Gaza, compared to one whole page that concerned the outlawing of 35 Islamic organizations.

What actually went on at the cabinet meeting was a five-hour discussion about the operation in which ministers were briefed about the various blueprints and plans of action. "It was a very detailed review," one minister said.

The minister added: "Everyone fully understood what sort of period we were heading into and what sort of scenarios this could lead to. No one could say that he or she did not know what they were voting on." The minister also said that the discussion showed that the lessons of the Winograd Committee about the performance of decision-makers during the 2006 Second Lebanon War were "fully internalized."

At the end of the discussion, the ministers unanimously voted in favor of the strike, leaving it for the prime minister, the defense minister and the foreign minister to work out the exact time.

While Barak was working out the final details with the officers responsible for the operation, Livni went to Cairo to inform Egypt's president, Hosni Mubarak, that Israel had decided to strike at Hamas.

In parallel, Israel continued to send out disinformation in announcing it would open the crossings to the Gaza Strip and that Olmert would decide whether to launch the strike following three more deliberations on Sunday - one day after the actual order to launch the operation was issued.

"Hamas evacuated all its headquarter personnel after the cabinet meeting on Wednesday," one defense official said, "but the organization sent its people back in when they heard that everything was put on hold until Sunday."

The final decision was made on Friday morning, when Barak met with Chief of Staff General Gabi Ashkenazi, the head of the Shin Bet Security Service Yuval Diskin and the head of the Military Intelligence Directorate, Amos Yadlin. Barak sat down with Olmert and Livni several hours later for a final meeting, in which the trio gave the air force its orders.

On Friday night and on Saturday morning, opposition leaders and prominent political figures were informed about the impending strike, including Likud chairman Benjamin Netanyahu, Yisrael Beuiteinu's Avigdor Liebermen, Haim Oron from Meretz and President Shimon Peres, along with Knesset Speaker Dalia Itzik.

On Friday, Egypt had announced that they were boosting security forces along the border with Gaza in anticipation of a possible Israeli incursion into the Strip. At the time, the fear was that a significant number of Palestinian refugees would try to flee from the area.

Israeli commandos already fighting behind Gaza lines

DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

December 28, 2008, 11:49 PM (GMT+02:00)

http://www.debka.com/headline.php?hid=5805

Amid continuing massive air strikes and wide speculation about whether or not Israeli ground forces will cross into the Gaza Strip, DEBKAfile's military sources report small groups of Israeli special forces were already carrying out swift hit-and-run raids Sunday, Dec. 28, on Day 2 of the Israeli Gaza operation.

As Israeli bombers, gunships and drones hovered overhead, picking up every move made by Hamas fighters and their missiles, Israeli stealth squads popped up at command posts, transport routes and missile squads, hit some and then faded away behind sand dunes. This tactic sowed confusion in Hamas ranks and gave them no chance to regroup and recover from the crushing air assault to their military infrastructure. The latest Palestinian death toll is estimated at 296.

This ground operation, which is likely to intensify Sunday overnight, has two objectives:

1. To mark key targets for air bombardment;

2. To blaze the way for a large-scale armored incursion still to come.

The most important mission carried out by the Israeli Air Force Sunday was the destruction of 40 smuggling tunnels, severing Hamas' arms, fuel, ammunition and reinforcements lifeline from Iran and Syria via Egyptian Sinai. It raised the question of why this feat was not carried out during the three years since the tunnels began functioning.

Whereas Saturday, the Israeli bombers struck with missiles, Sunday, dropped CBU-24 bunker busters which detonate 30 minutes after penetration on the Philadelphi tunnels. By the time the plumes of black smoke rose over the targeted area, the Israeli planes were gone.

So they shot the people fleeing the bombs? Very sick. Angry

From UFPJ:

Take Action to Protest Israeli Attack on Gaza

Mid-morning Saturday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) launched a series of deadly air strikes on the occupied Gaza Strip. As we write this, an estimated 275 people have been killed. Hundreds of innocent people have been wounded. According to news reports today, Israel plans to keep these attacks going and has brought scores of tanks to the border with Gaza.

These Israeli attacks come on top of a brutal siege of the Gaza Strip which has been going on for years and has created a humanitarian catastrophe of dire proportions for Gaza's 1.5 million Palestinian residents by restricting the provision of food, fuel, medicine, electricity, and other necessities of life. All of this is happening in the most densely populated and one of the poorest areas of the world.

Israel is carrying out these attacks with F-16 fighter jets and missiles provided by U.S. taxpayers. From 2001-2006, the United States transferred to Israel more than $200 million worth of spare parts to fly its fleet of F-16's. In July 2008, the United States gave Israel 186 million gallons of JP-8 aviation jet fuel. Last year, the United States signed a $1.3 billion contract with Raytheon to transfer to Israel thousands of TOW, Hellfire, and 'bunker buster' missiles.

Israel's lethal attack on the Gaza Strip could not have happened without the active military and political support of the United States. We need to take action now to protest this attack and demand an immediate cease-fire.

The U.S. Campaign to End the Israel Occupation (a member group pf UFPJ) has issued an action alert with these suggestions -- we urge you to take action today!

    * Contact the White House to protest the attacks and demand an immediate cease-fire. Call 202-456-1111 or send an email to comments@whitehouse.gov.
    * Contact the State Department at 202-647-6575 or send an email by clicking here.

Five More Palestinians Killed, 303 Killed and Over 1000 Wounded Since Saturday
Saed Bannoura - IMEMC

http://www.uruknet.info/?p=m50027&hd=&size=1&l=e

Sunday December 28, 2008

Palestinian sources reported on Sunday that the Israeli Air Force shelled several areas in different part of the Gaza Strip killing five Palestinians and wounding several residents. The death toll of the Israeli offensive which started on Saturday stands now at 303 while at least 1000 residents were wounded, 180 seriously.

The Arabs48 news website reported that the Israeli Air Force shelled a blacksmith workshop and a house in al-Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, killing a man and a woman.

In al-Nusseirat, the Israeli Army shelled a vehicle killing two Palestinians, medical sources said.

Also, the Israeli Air Force shelled the border area between Gaza and Egypt in Rafah.

Two more Palestinians were killed and at least 22 were wounded when the army shelled tunnels along the Philadelphi Route, in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses reported that hundreds of residents flocked to the border area between Gaza and Egypt in an attempt to escape the Israeli shelling, but the Egyptian border guard forces opened fired at them, killing one child and wounding several other residents.

The Israeli Army fired at least 20 missiles at the Philadelphi Route which contains dozes of tunnels and destroyed at least 50 of the underground tunnels leading from Gaza to Egypt. Some of the shelled tunnels were used to provide Gaza with fuel.

A sudden explosion in a military compound warehouse has reportedly rocked Zarin city in the central Iranian province of Isfahan.

Head of the military establishment, Majid Nasser, said that so far nine factory workers had been confirmed dead in the late Saturday explosion in Zarin city.

The report added that the bodies of the dead have yet to be recovered.

Saturday's explosion in the military compound's warehouse caused a blackout in the city and sent the city into a state of panic.

Officials are reportedly investigating the cause of the explosion.

Gaza Carnage Sets West Bank Aflame
Mel Frykberg

www.uruknet.info?p=50026

Link: www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=45238

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Dec 28, 2008 (IPS)
- Anger, shock and revulsion at the continuing carnage in Gaza has ignited spontaneous demonstrations and riots across the West Bank and Israel, sparking concerns of a possible third Palestinian uprising or Intifadah.

More than 300 Palestinians were killed and at least 900 wounded following an intensive Israeli air bombing campaign over the Gaza strip through the weekend.

This followed a barrage of rockets fired by Palestinian fighters at Israeli towns and cities bordering the coastal territory in the last few weeks which caused some damage but no casualties.

Hamas leader-in-exile, Damascus-based Khaled Meshaal, has called on Palestinians to rise up against Israel. The Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank called for a three-day strike in sympathy with Gaza's plight.

Following Israel's aerial assault, one Israeli was killed and several wounded in retaliatory rocket fire from Gaza Saturday afternoon. This was Israel's first fatality in many months.

The first Palestinian Intifadah broke out in December of 1987 when Palestinian refugees from a camp in the north of Gaza clashed with Israel soldiers following the death of several Palestinians after an Israeli settler's car ploughed into their vehicle.

The Palestinians claimed the victims were deliberately mowed into, while the Israelis said it was the result of a traffic accident.

Following the initial clash, rioting and protests spread spontaneously to all of Gaza and the West Bank, leading to a popular uprising which lasted for several years. This followed years of Palestinian resentment and bitterness towards a brutal Israeli occupation.

Israeli-Arabs, descendents of the Palestinians, clashed Saturday with Israeli police throughout Israel.

In the Bedouin village of Rahat in the Negev desert, around 400 residents protested the attacks, while mosques throughout the town broadcast prayers of mourning. Many Bedouins, descendants of a nomadic tribe, join the Israeli army, where they are valued for their tracking skills. They are regarded as traitors by fellow Palestinians.

Several hundred left-wing Israelis marched through the streets of Tel Aviv towards the Israeli defence ministry headquarters chanting "No to war, yes to peace".

The left-wing protestors carried signs saying "Israel's government is committing war crimes", "Negotiation instead of slaughter", and "Lift the siege from Gaza".

Several Israeli protestors were arrested. Matan Kaminer an Israeli student who took part in the protest told the Israeli daily Haaretz that "no one can tell us that slaughtering the citizens of Gaza is meant to protect the citizens of Sderot and Ashkelon (two Israeli towns bordering the Gaza strip)."

An Israeli police officer was deliberately run over by a Palestinian in East Jerusalem as groups of Palestinian youths clashed with police in the city, stoning them and setting dumpsters on fire.

Palestinian protestors from West Bank towns and refugee camps took to the streets and marched on Israeli checkpoints and Israeli settlements. Many were injured by rubber bullets -- marble-sized metal balls covered in half a millimetre of rubber -- and tear gas shot by Israeli Defence Force (IDF) soldiers.

In Ramallah hundreds of protestors from the various Palestinian factions waved banners and flags, and decried the Gaza slaughter. They called for unity and for Gaza's Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and West Bank Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas to bury their differences and put the Palestinian cause above their personal politics.

Many in the crowd waved Fatah flags, associated with Abbas and the PA, showing clearly their empathy with fellow Palestinians despite the political divide between the two Palestinian territories.

IPS joined the demonstration as it marched around Ramallah city. In the crowd were people from all sections of Palestinian society. Elegantly turned out middle-aged women from Ramallah's Christian minority marched side by side with tough young men from the surrounding refugee camps.

Grandmothers, journalists, factional leaders, and mothers with toddlers walked linking arms with a scattering of international sympathisers based in the cosmopolitan central West Bank city. Many countries have representative offices to the PA in Ramallah.

This was one of the largest demonstrations that Ramallah witnessed in the last few years of conflict.

"I couldn't just sit at home. I felt overwhelming anger at the situation in Gaza and I needed to show my solidarity," Munther, a young computer programmer from the Palestinian Legislative Council who voted for Abbas in the last election told IPS.

As the crowd circled the city centre, the Palestinian police looked on quietly and stood back. But when the demonstrators marched on the Muqata, the government headquarters of the PA where Abbas was in his office, the mood of the Palestinian security forces changed.

On approaching the Muqata's entrance the crowd was met by Palestinian soldiers who took up positions and held their weapons at the ready. But the Shebab, or youth in Arabic, decided to head towards the nearby Israeli military checkpoint of Beit El.

While the more cautious in the crowd stood back, the young men headed towards waiting Israeli military jeeps and tanks and started to sling stones at them, and set tyres alight to block the road.

The Israelis responded with tear gas and rubber bullets, injuring a number of youngsters who were rushed to nearby hospitals in Palestinian ambulances.

This IPS correspondent helped two youths injured by rubber bullets to hospital. They were shot as they stoned the soldiers.

As dozens of Palestinian riot police arrived on the scene to disperse the protestors, one of them remarked that the police arrival had been coordinated with their Israeli colleagues on the other side of the checkpoint.

"They are nothing but quislings and a militia of the Israelis. Hundreds of Palestinians were killed in Gaza, and who do they aim their weapons at? Not the Israelis but us, their brethren protesting the slaughter," said one of the youths.

"There will be more protests tomorrow and I will be back," he added, as he stepped out of the taxi and limped towards the emergency room. (END/2008)

Thanks squarepusher! At least someone is standing up against pottymouth. I am not trying to say that the palestinians are all wrong.........nor are the israelis all wrong. All I am trying to say is that this situation is much more complicated than any  of us truly know. Whether I have posted a lot or a little on this forum says nothing about my intelligence. I've been around more than 50 years and have a degree..........so apparently am not a total loser as some on here want to imply.

I also don't think everyone here is a jew hater if they are against Israel. We must be careful about buying into the NWO propaganda as much as any other. I'm not here to be part of a 'mega phonie brigade'........what the heck?Huh I have as much right to my opinions here as anyone.......and some of you can't even spell!!!

That's the problem many Christians have been brainwashed into accepting anything from Israel, in their view they can do no wrong.
Not only this, Palestinians are comprised of much more than just Muslims.  Many are Christians.  Arabs are the people who administer the churches of Bethlehem, Jericho and Jerusalem.  My father a Palestinian at birth grew up Muslim, yet was schooled by the Christians.  Of course the MM would have us believe religion is the reason for the divide over there (Jew/Muslim).  If anything Christians in this country should be standing strong with their  fellow Palestinian brethren.

I sincerely wish some of you could see past your puffed up selves and look at all sides in this. I've been called a moron, a zionist lover, a baby....uh, let's see what else? You all are talking as if you have so much compassion while you tell me I have none. You actually make it sound like I LIKE THIS HAPPENING to all the innocents?Huh? PLEASE....I do not condone or like any of it. There are victims on both sides of this and that is a fact.

But hey, I'm just a moron..........right?
