Rod Dreher: What the Muslim Brotherhood means for the U.S.

Memo lays bare group's plans to destroy U.S. from within

11:17 AM CDT on Sunday, September 9, 2007

"Our strategy is this," President Bush said last month. "We will fight them over there so we do not have to face them in the United States of America."

He was talking about jihadists, of course. And Mr. Bush is behind the curve. The president apparently missed the smoking-gun 1991 document his own Justice Department introduced into evidence at the Holy Land Foundation trial in Dallas. The FBI captured it in a raid on a Muslim suspect's home in Virginia.

This "explanatory memorandum," as it's titled, outlines the "strategic goal" for the North American operation of the extremist Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan). Here's the key paragraph:

The process of settlement [of Islam in the United States] is a "Civilization-Jihadist" process with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that all their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and "sabotaging" their miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who choose to slack.

The entire 18-page platform outlines a plan for the long haul. It prescribes the Muslim Brotherhood's comprehensive plan to set down roots in civil society. It begins by both founding and taking control of American Muslim organizations, for the sake of unifying and educating the U.S. Muslim community – this to prepare it for the establishment of a global Islamic state governed by sharia.

It sounds like a conspiracy theory out of a bad Hollywood movie – but it's real. Husain Haqqani, head of Boston University's Center for International Relations and a former Islamic radical, confirms that the Brotherhood "has run most significant Muslim organizations in the U.S." as part of the plan outlined in the strategy paper.

The HLF trial is exposing for the first time how the international Muslim Brotherhood – whose Palestinian division is Hamas – operates as a self-conscious revolutionary vanguard in the United States. The court documents indicate that many leading Muslim-American organizations – including the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) and the Muslim American Society – are an integral part of the Brotherhood's efforts to wage jihad against America by nonviolent means.

The Muslim Brotherhood is an affiliation of at least 70 Islamist organizations around the world, all tracing their heritage to the original cell, founded in Egypt in 1928. Its credo: "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope." Sayyid Qutb, hanged by the Egyptian government in 1966 as a revolutionary, remains its ideological godfather. His best-known work, Milestones, calls for Muslims to wage violent holy war until Islamic law governs the entire world.

According to a 2004 Chicago Tribune investigation, establishing the Brotherhood in the United States has been a 40-year project that has worked mostly underground – even beneath the notice of many Muslims. Richard Clarke, the former top U.S. national security official, told the Senate in 2003 that the Muslim Brotherhood is the common thread linking terrorist fundraising schemes in the United States – which likely explains why so many mainstream American Muslim organizations were named by the feds as "unindicted co-conspirators" in the HLF trial.

Is this just alarmist paranoia? Not at all.

This matters because high-profile organizations with roots explicitly in the Muslim Brotherhood have successfully established themselves in a paramount position to define Islam in America according to a radical politicized model. And they've done so without the American public having the slightest idea about their real agenda. Indeed, the Bush administration is unwittingly helping the Islamist cause by including their leaders in public events, thus conferring them legitimacy. On Labor Day weekend, the same Department of Justice that's presenting evidence of the ISNA's involvement with radical Islam at the Dallas trial sponsored a booth at – wait for it – ISNA's national convention in suburban Chicago.

Look, no rational person believes America is going to exchange the Constitution for a caliphate. Rational people aren't the point. As the London subway bombings showed, even a tiny cell of committed radicals can kill a lot of people. Mustafa Saied, an American Muslim who left the Brotherhood, told the Tribune that he worried about the radicalism the Brotherhood inculcated in its membership here. "With the extreme element," he said, "you never know when that ticking time bomb will go off."

As long as they commit no crimes, CAIR, ISNA and the other Brotherhood-related groups have the right to advocate for their beliefs. But they don't have the right to escape critical scrutiny, and they deserve informed opposition. Courageous Muslims like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy are sounding the alarm about radical Islam's stealth takeover of U.S. Muslim institutions. Why are the news media ignoring this? Fear of being called Islamophobic?

This has got to stop. Six years after 9/11, we're still asleep. Islamic radicals have declared war on us – and some are fighting here in what looks like a fifth column. Read their strategy document. It's there in black and white, for those with eyes to see.

Muslim Brotherhood: ‘Prepare Egyptians for war with Israel'

From the Jerusalem Post.

Muslim Brotherhood: ‘Prepare Egyptians for war with Israel'

A leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt told the Arabic-language Iranian news network Al-Alam on Monday that he would like to see the Egyptian people prepare for war against Israel, according to the Hebrew-language business newspaper Calcalist.

Muhammad Ghannem reportedly told Al- Alam that the Suez Canal should be closed immediately, and that the flow of gas from Egypt to Israel should cease “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.” He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” saying the world should understand that “the Egyptian people are prepared for anything to get rid of this regime.”

Ghannem praised Egyptian soldiers deployed by President Hosni Mubarak to Egyptian cities, saying they “would not kill their brothers.” He added that Washington was forced to abandon plans to help Mubarak stay in power after “seeing millions head for the streets.”

That would be horrible if the Muslim Brotherhood came to power. If anyone remembers what happened to Sadat, then you know what their intentions are. They are a scary group.

This is supposedly the "official" English website of the (Egyptian) Muslim Brotherhood.

Just like with other mass movement (not really an organization), the Ikhwan has various factions, who are often internecine, in addition to other splinter groups that act in the name of the original movement.. I see a very reductive analysis of the movement that has groups has sprung up all over the world by Webster and Alex. I wish they would have 'experts' from within the movement to give their detailed analysis, or we could stick to a rehashed version of zionist/anti-islamist perspective on a reformist movement within Islam. The view of the Ikhwan movement that anti-Islamists hold is similar to the reductive view that some have of the 'founding fathers' and their revolution as being totally and completely controlled, and that they founded a purely masonic United States, or the other reductive view that most of them were moral yuppies who fought in the name of Christianity, and that the state that they founded was supposed to be for and by white Christians who believed firmly in the Bible. This is what I often hear on Pastor Butch's show on GCN, and I am sure there are many other KJV Christians who have this view of their founding fathers and their movement that led to the creation of the Godly nation of America.. Well, similar is the case with the mass movement of the Ikhwan. Every faction believes in their own version and interpretation of the values and ideals, and methodology of social reform.
Awareness. Resistance. Victory.

Egypt graciously and kindly made peace with Israel 20 years ago, but the rabid established-religious Rothschild-Apartheid Likudnik ZioNazi ethnic cleansing robbery of Palestine fascists will never, ever make any form of peace with anybody.

The Islamic, Semitic descendants of Ishmael that are the Arab-Samaritan world need not "prepare for war" from them, the endless war upon them by Likudniks and their Tory Episcopal-corporate Anglicanist, Constantinian-Fascist ZioNAZI crusader "buddies" has never, ever ended.

It's high time they get a government that stops kissing Gotha-Rothschild, Bushnik and Netenyahu butt.

The Globalists use the muslim brotherhood as their 'fanatical muslim' tools...

The Globalists and the Islamists:
Fomenting the "Clash of Civilizations" for a New World Order
The Muslim Brotherhood – The Globalists' Secret Weapon
http://www.redmoonrising.com/Ikhwan/MB.htm

... The Muslim Brotherhood emerged out of Egypt in 1928 to evolve into "the largest and most influential Sunni revivalist organization in the 20th century." It was founded by Hasan al-Banna, the first son of a respected sheik who was also an author and the leader of a local mosque. Hasan was born in 1906 and was brought up immersed in Islam under his father's tutelage. He memorized the Koran and at age twelve he founded an organization called the Society For Moral Behavior. Shortly after he created another group, the Society for Impeding the Forbidden. He was a devout Muslim dedicated to his faith and at age sixteen he enrolled in an Islamic school in Cairo to train to become a teacher. As a teenager Hasan al-Banna also became a member of a Sufi order, the Hasafiyya Brothers' order. He was active in the order, reading all of the Sufi literature he could get his hands on, and he organized a Sufi group, the Hasafiyya Society for Welfare. (1)

In Part One of this study we related several allegations that the Muslim Brotherhood was created, infiltrated, or at least promoted by British Intelligence and/or British Freemasonry. Dr. John Coleman alleges that it was created by "the great names of British Middle East intelligence...", Stephen Dorril writes that the Brotherhood was linked to British Intelligence through dame Freya Stark prior to World War II,  and the Shah's regime in Iran considered it to be a tool of British Freemasonry.

Context of '1954-1970:
CIA and the Muslim Brotherhood Ally to Oppose Egyptian President Nasser'

http://www.historycommons.org/context.jsp?item=western_support_for_islamic_militancy_202700#western_support_for_islamic_militancy_202700
...In 1954, Egyptian President Gamal Abddul Nasser’s nationalist policies in Egypt come to be viewed as completely unacceptable by Britain and the US. MI6 and the CIA jointly hatch plans for his assassination. According to Miles Copeland, a CIA operative based in Egypt, the opposition to Nasser is driven by the commercial community—the oil companies and the banks. At the same time, the Muslim Brotherhood’s resentment of Nasser’s secular government also comes to a head. In one incident, Islamist militants attack pro-Nasser students at Cairo University. Following an attempt on his own life by the Brotherhood, Nasser responds immediately by outlawing the group, which he denounces as a tool of Britain. The following years see a long and complex struggle pitting Nasser against the Muslim Brotherhood, the US, and Britain. The CIA funnels support to the Muslim Brotherhood because of “the Brotherhood’s commendable capability to overthrow Nasser.” [BAER, 2003, PP. 99; DREYFUSS, 2005, PP. 101-108] The Islamist regime in Saudi Arabia becomes an ally of the United States in the conflict with Nasser. They offer financial backing and sanctuary to Muslim Brotherhood militants during Nasser’s crackdown. Nasser dies of natural causes in 1970. [DREYFUSS, 2005, PP. 90-91, 126-131, 150] (continued)

===============================

Something you won't read about, or see a movie about... (there's Schindler's List, but you won't find an "Ahmed's List" depicting acts of muslim compassion with regard to Jews.) This is by design; it's the mission of the globalists to keep people fighting, and they've been very successful demonizing muslims. They use the muslim brotherhood to further this.

Photographer Reveals how Muslims Saved Jews from the Nazis
http://www.antifascistencyclopedia.com/allposts/photographer-reveals-how-muslims-saved-jews-from-the-nazis
By Martin Shipton
Wales Online | January 26, 2011

An audience in Wales will be told tonight of one of the most extraordinary acts of humanitarianism seen anywhere in wartime Europe – the rescue of 2,000 Jews from Nazi persecution by a group of Albanian Muslims. Martin Shipton reports

AN extraordinary and largely forgotten piece of history will be commemorated tonight when two Welsh communities come together to hear about a group of Muslims who rescued Jews from Nazi persecution.

American photographer Norman Gershman will be at Cardiff University to talk about his investigation into how the lives of 2,000 Jews were saved by Muslims in Albania in 1942 and 1943. The event, hosted jointly by the Muslim Council of Wales and the university’s Jewish Society, is being seen as an historic occasion aimed at creating greater understanding between adherents of the two faiths in Wales. Gershman’s book Besa is named after the Albanian honour code which obliges individuals to protect anyone in danger, regardless of all religious and political affiliations.

==========================

When the groups "Muslim Council of Wales" and the University "Jewish Society" can come together in an event that shows 'brotherhood' can exist between Muslims and Jews, it is a sign that people can rise above the manipulation and fear-mongering of the globalists who prefer that we hate each other.

If the globalists were truly interested in "world peace" they would have this photographic exhibit, and the story of the muslims saving the jews from the Nazis PLASTERED all over the mass media. But it's not there, is it?

I don't know how many muslims belong to the muslim brotherhood... I doubt that it's anywhere near 15-20%; I think the globalists love to exaggerate the numbers to make people more afraid. I hope that devout muslims wake up to the fact that the 'brotherhood' is not about Islam; it's about the globalists' agenda.
And  the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,  ye have done it unto me.

Israel agrees to troops in the Sinai
Abraham Rabinovich, Jerusalem, February 02, 2011
http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/israel-agrees-to-troops-in-the-sinai/story-e6frg6so-1225998360893

ISRAEL yesterday gave permission to Egypt to move troops deep into Sinai for the first time since the peace treaty between them was signed in 1979.

Egypt wants to beef up its security in the area following clashes in the past week between Bedouin and local police. Emboldened by the demonstrations in Egypt proper, armed Bedouin gangs have been attacking police stations.

Egypt agreed in the peace treaty to the demilitarisation of that part of Sinai close to the Israeli border, leaving security in the area to police. Israel had occupied the entire Sinai peninsula, sovereign Egyptian territory, in the 1967 Six Day War and evacuated it after the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Cairo is sending about 800 soldiers. Most will reportedly be posted in the area of Sharm el-Sheikh at the southern tip of the peninsula, a major tourism area and also the site of one of President Hosni Mubarak's residences.

How can the dumbed-down public know who the boogeyman is if the media doesn't point out the boogeyman for them? The public has been told there are all kinds of nutty groups out there that want to kill everybody, so the public looks for them and fears them, because the media says so. The media even goes so far as to provide polls on how in fear the public is. Which just adds to the public's fear because the public believes the media, thinking it must be true because they got video of it right there on national news.

Unfortunately, that same dumbed-down public can't tell the difference between news and editorial commentary, much less know that "commentary" in the media is a contact sport that is openly used to project opinions on all type of topics. Just like with lawyers in court and a jury. It's not about guilt, it's about which side can win their case.

"Groups" of all kinds are used by the NWO for many reasons, and in part because they can. They have a vested interest in keeping things stirred up, either by the Muslim Brotherhood, Jewish settlers, Hamas, Al CIAda, whatever. Just pawns in the game.

Prophecy says that region and the world will eventually turn on Israel. They basically already have. If the Muslim world were left to deal with Israel on it's own terms, they would level that place to dust in a matter of weeks, and establish their own "Palistine". So is man so arrogant to think it is their own actions that prevents Islam from overrunning Israel? Physically, Israel wouldn't stand a chance if Islam were to basically invade Israel. So what holds them back? Prophecy. But prophecy says that eventually the world as a group will turn on Israel, and they will need somebody to step forward to apparently "save" Israel, and bring peace to the land. THAT person is not to be trusted, especially if they promote jewish temple worship and a new temple.

Remember how Herod was such an evil tyrannt and enemy of the Jews and Christians? No question he had no issue with slaughtering people. Yet what did he do that was his most promoted work as a ruler? All his work on the restoration of what? The Jewish temple. And what does the world generally call it? "Herod's Temple", which to me quite frankly I take as an abomination for placing his name on any part of the temple. Then what happened? 70ad.
"For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

This is what is known as propaganda.
I do not support The Muslim brotherhood in anyway just to be clear.
I just found it astounding how hard Hannity & the neocons wish to perpetuate the "boogieman" of scary bearded men.
Hannity sounds weak & like a frighten coward in this piece.Yes that's harsh but honestly if you listen to the man here he sounds like a quivering child.Real forefather material here.

http://www.foxnews.com/on-air/special-report/transcript/former-islamic-radical-egypt-and-muslim-brotherhood

Quote
Let's get some perspective now on the stunning events in Egypt over the past two-and-a-half weeks and today's resignation from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

Joining me now is Ed Husain of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is the author of the book "The Islamist." Welcome. You are a former Islamic radical. You signed on to Islamic fundamentalists as young man in Britain, stayed with it for six years and then, left it.

...

ED HUSAIN, COUNCIL ON FOREIGN RELATIONS: Well it was an attraction to a global ideology that offers black and white answers to the problems of the Middle East. In my time it was issues surrounding Muslims in Bosnia and Muslims in Palestine and the answer offered by Islamic extremists from various groups was, the answer is jihad, the answer is concentration, the answer is Muslim supremacist tendencies and the answer is to take up arms against arms.

But after a period of being in those groups, I realized several things. One, that they were spiritually remote from mainstream Muslims that they were away from god. Two, that their confrontational one-world view gave us very little in the way of solid results or answers to the world's problems. And looking at Egypt today I think I am vindicated in realizing that those groups don't have the answers. And three, realizing that the rhetoric and the mindset of jihad and supremacy tendencies isn't just talk, but it's reality on the ground. When I saw, on my own campus, a non-Muslim student being killed, I moved away from extremist group.

----

HUSAIN: Well, as a student and subsequently after that I spent time with the Muslim Brotherhood, so I'm familiar with its thinking and its pragmatic strategy. The good news is-- well let's start with the bad news. The bad news is the Muslim brotherhood does play the mood music to which suicide bombers dance. It did traditionally have a very confrontational attitude toward the west, it's very suspicious of Israel, to put it mildly. And it tends to mobilize people around its own interpretation of religion. That's the bad news. The good news is Muslim brotherhood over the last 30 years has abandoned violence and it tends to be pragmatic and want to enter democratic politics. I think if the Muslim Brotherhood is brought in to a broader coalition but on the condition that it respects the peace treaty toward Israel, that it's respectful to the west and it respects human rights, which it claims to, then it's good news. The debate in the discussion is whether we'll get there. By keeping them outside were not -- it's instigating the discussion.

BAIER: But if you listen to the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood who talked in recent weeks about ending the treaty with Israel, about starting another war with Israel, about Sharia law, I mean that doesn't sound like a concern for human rights or a lack of violence.

HUSAIN: I hear everything you are saying. That said, the Muslim Brotherhood, thankfully, is not monolithic organization. It has different strands within it. El-Gazar, the man who went to see Omar Suleiman last Friday came out saying that the peace treaty with Israel is in the Egyptian national interest. So there is good news. You had Mohammed Al-Badie the current leader of the brotherhood, who is not a reformist, he a conservative. He wants, within the Muslim brotherhood tradition, he wants to create, what he calls a "civilian government" not an "Islamist government." So --

HUSAIN: Well, I've traveled across the region, I speak Arabic and ya know, I'm a Muslim. What I can say is that there is a great deal of pride in the new Arab dignity, that they too have overthrown a despot today. They are now comparing themselves with the European revolutions of the 18th century and the American Revolution here. So there is a great sense of pride in the Arab world. And I think we should welcome that and try and help nagigate the Arab street to a better tomorrow rather than allow them to be hijacked by the extremists that you spoke about.

BAIER: Because that is the threat.

HUSAIN: That is the threat.

New "American Approved" voting operations in Egypt will allow Kissinger to appoint the next leader

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/03/20/egypt-approves-reforms-in-historic-referendum/

Excerpts (without all of the MI6 propaganda):

The referendum divided Egyptians between those who said the reforms would suffice and others who said the constitution needed a complete rewrite -- something that will happen after the legislative elections.

The changes were backed by the Muslim Brotherhood, the main Islamist group and one of the forces that mobilized against Mubarak, and remnants of the former president's National Democratic Party.

"A historic event for democracy in the Middle East"

Soros group: 'Normalize' Muslim Brotherhood
Urged Egypt to allow creation of Islamist political party

JERUSALEM – An international "crisis management" group led by billionaire George Soros long has petitioned for the Egyptian government to normalize ties with the Muslim Brotherhood. The International Crisis Group, or ICG, also released a report urging the Egyptian regime to allow the Brotherhood to establish an Islamist political party. The ICG includes on its board Mohamed ElBaradei, one of the main opposition leaders in Egypt, as well as other personalities who champion dialogue with Hamas, a violent offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood. In a June 2008 report entitled, "Egypt's Muslim Brothers Confrontation or Integration," Soros' ICG urges the Egyptian regime to allow the group to participate in political life. The report dismisses Egypt's longstanding government crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood as "dangerously short-sighted." The ICG report called on President Hosni Mubarak's regime to "pave the way for the regularization of the Muslim Brothers' participation in political life," including by allowing for the "establishment of a political party with religious reference."

The ICG specifically stressed allowing the Brotherhood to serve as an Islamist party several times in its 2008 report. The ICG and its personalities also long have petitioned for the Muslim Brotherhood to be allowed to join the Egyptian government. WND reported earlier this week that Soros is one of eight members of the ICG executive committee. ElBaradei suspended his board membership in the ICG two weeks ago, after he returned to Egypt to lead the anti-Mubarak protests. U.S. board members include Zbigniew Brzezinski, who was national security adviser to Jimmy Carter; Samuel Berger, who was Bill Clinton's national security adviser; and retired U.S. ambassador Thomas Pickering, who made headlines in 2009 after meeting with Hamas leaders and calling for the U.S. to open ties to the Islamist group. Another ICG member is Robert Malley, a former adviser to Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. He resigned after it was exposed he had communicated with Hamas. WND reported Malley long had petitioned for dialogue with Hamas. The ICG defines itself as an "independent, non-profit, multinational organization, with 100 staff members on five continents, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict." Meanwhile, Soros also has other ties to opposition groups in the Middle East. His Open Society Institute's Middle East and North Africa Initiative has provided numerous grants to a wide range of projects that promote so-called democratic issues across the region, including in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood stands to gain from any future election. Soros' Open Society also funded the main opposition voice in Tunisia, Radio Kalima, which championed the riots there that led to the ouster of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. In September, Soros' group was looking to expand its operations in Egypt by hiring a new project manager for its Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, which is run in partnership with the Open Society Justice Initiative. The group is seeking to develop a national network of legal empowerment actors for referral of public-interest law cases. Such organizations in the past have helped represent Muslim Brotherhood leaders seeking election or more authority in the country. Soros himself on Friday made public statements in support of the protests in Egypt, which the Mubarak government has warned will result in the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in the country. In a Washington Post editorial entitled, "Why Obama Has to Get Egypt Right," Soros recognized that if free elections were held in Egypt, "the Brotherhood is bound to emerge as a major political force, though it is far from assured of a majority." He stated the U.S. has "much to gain by moving out in front and siding with the public demand for dignity and democracy" in Egypt. He claimed the "Muslim Brotherhood's cooperation with Mohamed ElBaradei … is a hopeful sign that it intends to play a constructive role in a democratic political system." Soros did not mention his ties to ElBaradei. Soros did, however, single out Israel as "the main stumbling block" in paving the way toward transition in the Middle East. "In reality, Israel has as much to gain from the spread of democracy in the Middle East as the United States has. But Israel is unlikely to recognize its own best interests because the change is too sudden and carries too many risks," he wrote.

Muslim Brotherhood awakens terrorist wing

WND reported yesterday an Egyptian Islamist terrorist organization founded by the Muslim Brotherhood is re-establishing itself amid the political upheaval in Cairo Both Egyptian and Israeli security officials said the group, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, is being reconstituted at the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood. The officials affirmed Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya serves as the de fact "military" wing of the Brotherhood, which originally founded Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya. Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya is suspected of involvement in the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and it took credit for the 1995 attempt on the life of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. It has carried out scores of deadly terrorist attacks, some targeting foreign tourists. The Muslim Brotherhood seeks to spread Islam around the world. Hamas and al-Qaida are violent Brotherhood offshoots. While the Brotherhood claimed it abandoned violence to push for a peaceful takeover of Egypt, the group's new spiritual leader, Muhammad Badi, recently publicly has called for violent jihad, including against the U.S. On Sunday, an Egyptian security official was quoted in the news media stating Egyptian troops had arrested two armed Palestinians from Hamas who entered the country illegally from the Gaza Strip. The security official told reporters the men had crossed from Gaza into Egypt's Sinai Peninsula using smuggling tunnels and that they were arrested in a stolen car in the town of el-Arish, near the border, along with three Egyptian smugglers. The official told the Associated Press the two Hamas men were caught with weapons, hand grenades, two RPGs and about $8,600 in cash. A senior Egyptian security official speaking to WND on Monday said an investigation found the two Hamas men were aiding in the reorganization of Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya, which, he said, is attempting to reconstitute itself under the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood.  The Egyptian security official said Hamas is helping Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya organize into divisions and to arm itself with weapons currently in the Sinai waiting to be smuggled into Gaza.  Both Israel and Egypt say Hamas has amassed a large quantity of weapons in the Sinai Peninsula, where the Islamist group has been attempting to smuggle the weaponry into Gaza.  Now, the Egyptian security official said, some of those weapons are going to arm the reconstituted Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya.

Notorious terrorist attacks

Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood, and is classified as a terrorist group by the U.S., European Union and Egypt. Like the Muslim Brotherhood, the group is dedicated to the overthrow of Mubarak, seeking to replace his regime with an Islamic state. The group has carried out numerous deadly attacks. Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya may have been involved indirectly in Sadat's assassination. The group's leader has talked publicly about collaborating in planning the murder with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was blamed for the killing.  In the late 1980s and 1990s, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya carried out scores of terrorist acts in Egypt, including the murders and attempted murders of prominent Egyptian writers and intellectuals. The group also targeted tourists and foreigners.  In 1997, it carried out the notorious Luxor massacre in Luxor, Egypt, killing 58 foreign tourists and four Egyptians. Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya went on a shooting rampage in that attack, even reportedly mutilating the bodies of victims. A note praising Islam was found inside one disemboweled body.  One year earlier, in 1996, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya carried out a shooting rampage at the Europa Hotel in Cairo, killing 18 Greek tourists.  In 1995, the group took responsibility for a car bomb attack on the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, murdering 16 people.  After a massive Egyptian crackdown on the group in 1997 following the Luxur attack, Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya brokered a deal with the Egyptian government that is known as the Nonviolence Initiative, in which some leaders of the movement said they renounced violence.  Still, exiled leaders of Al-Gama'a al-Islamiyya maintained the group would not give up its violence.

Brotherhood declares war on U.S.

Multiple prominent U.S. commentators also have been claiming the Muslim Brotherhood is a moderate organization and denying any Islamist plot to seize power.  In November, the Brotherhood's new supreme guide, Muhammad Badi, delivered a sermon entitled, "How Islam Confronts the Oppression and Tyranny."  "Resistance is the only solution," stated Badi. "The United States cannot impose an agreement upon the Palestinians, despite all the power at its disposal. [Today] it is withdrawing from Iraq, defeated and wounded, and is also on the verge of withdrawing from Afghanistan because it has been defeated by Islamist warriors."  Badi went on to declare the U.S. is easy to defeat through violence, since it is "experiencing the beginning of its end and is heading toward its demise."

O'Keefe's Muslim Brotherhood Project Part III:
Soros's Secret Millions to NPR, Buying Influence and Bias

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2011/03/okeefes-muslim-brotherhood-project-part-iii-soros-secret-millions-to-npr-buying-influence-and-bias.html

Here is part III in James O'Keefe's groundbreaking investigative journalism expose on NPR. I applaud O'Keefe and his team for exposing NPR's corruption and naked bias. I question the motives by websites on the right (like The Blaze) who have misrepresented O'Keefe's revelations and sought to downplay their significance. The video was blockbuster. Whose side are they on, and what is their agenda?

The Soros Connection: Despite the millions George Soros has given to NPR, he refused to have his name or organization listed. The secret influence buying of Soros is exposed in this video.

NPR: Part III (The Final Chapter?) - Mar 17 2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=inQ-SS5XmiE

Soros backgrounder: He assisted the Nazis, and was mentored by and was a longtime associate of Francois Genoud, Hitler and the Grand Mufti's banker.

If you are unfamiliar with Soros’s actual past, remember that, as 60 Minutes reported in 2006, “While hundreds of thousands of Hungarian Jews were being shipped off to the death camps, George Soros accompanied his phony godfather on his appointed rounds, confiscating property from the Jews.” Is it any wonder he has funded the viciously anti-Israel, anti-Jewish J Street?

Since then, Soros — convicted in France for insider trading — has his black hand in every evil thing: the legalization of drugs and prostitution; betting against America and making millions by making what he called “a good call against the dollar”; violating the U.N.’s neutrality by funneling money through its Development Program to Georgia’s President. He was financier of guilty terror lawyer Lynne Stewart’s defense fund; and was involved via his stooges at America Coming Together in election fraud and via his investment in WellCare, in Medicare irregularities.

    On March 8th, Project Veritas released Part 1 of its investigation of National Public Radio, followed by a second release.  The investigation, in which Project Veritas investigators posed as members of a fictional group founded by "members of the Muslim Brotherhood," was widely reported in the media and produced a dramatic response from NPR and its board members.

    The a[bove] video contains a full conversation between Project Veritas' undercover investigator, Simon Templar, and Betsy Liley, NPR's Senior Director of Institutional Giving along with James O'Keefe's call to George Soros' Open Society Foundation.

    In addition, Project Veritas would like to thank Pamela Geller for her cooperation with Project Muslim Brotherhood.

My pleasure. I am sure Wonkette and Justin Elliott over at Salon won't let the facts get in the way of their smear campaigns, clowns. Good old fashion left-wing journalism at work!

Over at DC:

    Betsy Liley, the taxpayer-funded radio network’s director of institutional giving is heard saying controversial left-wing billionaire George Soros has donated to the organization before last October’s $1.8 million gift. Liley is currently on administrative leave, but her bosses, Ron Schiller, the president of NPR’s nonprofit foundation, and NPR CEO Vivian Schiller (no relation) were both fired.

    Liley brought up Soros and his nonprofit organization, the Open Society Institute, while discussing what kind of on-air publicity the Muslim Education Action Center (MEAC) Trust would want in exchange for its donation. Liley mentioned that Soros and his organization decided they didn’t want on-air publicity for their donation to avoid conservatives’ scrutiny.

“George Soros and the Open Society Institute
gave us $1.8 million, and they have decided not to use on-air credits
because of what’s happening in Congress,”

Liley said. When the man she thought represented the fictitious Muslim Brotherhood front group asked her how Soros’s donation and “what’s happening in Congress,” relate, Liley said conservatives tried to link Soros’s donation to Juan Williams’s firing.

    “I think the first gift was within the first year he set up the Foundation, which was 10 or 15 years ago,” Liley said. “But, it was a different political situation and current events were a little different, and so, it went through – I was not here, but I think it went – there wasn’t a press hullabaloo. I mean, the Open Society Institute was getting – you know, the conservatives on some of the websites, were having people call his foundation. The press was calling and so, it became, kind of – you know they got roped into the Juan Williams thing, which they didn’t feel like they needed to be.”

Al Qaeda: Pawns of CIA Insurrection from Libya to Yemen
http://tarpley.net/
Webster G. Tarpley, Ph.D.
TARPLEY.net
April 3, 2011

After two weeks of imperialist attack, Libya is being mangled by al Qaeda terrorists, civil war, NATO air raids, cruise missiles, Predator drones, and C-130 gunships – all made possible by the CIA-backed al Qaeda rebels of Cyrenaica.

US, British, French, and Dutch commandos have taken leadership of the rebel forces, and are arming them with modern weapons in flagrant violation of the arms embargo specified in UN Security Council resolution 1973. Al Qaeda is also stealing heavy weapons on its own, as the president of Chad has reported. The singing tomorrows of the fatuous US-UK color revolution rhetoric have dissolved, exposing the hideous reality of a brutal, cynical, imperialist drive to destroy the modern nation-state itself.

Rebel Triumvirate of Terror Rules Darna

According to the London Daily Telegraph of March 26, Darna (also transliterated as Derna or Darnah), a key city in the rebel heartland between Benghazi in Tobruk, is commanded by al-Hasidi, an al Qaeda terrorist controller who trained and hobnobbed with Osama bin Laden at the Khost terrorist training camp in Afghanistan. Hasidi boasts of having sent 25 fighters to fight US and NATO forces in Afghanistan; one wonders how many they managed to kill. Hasidi was a US prisoner of war after being captured by the Pakistanis, but tells the Wall Street Journal of April 2 that he now hates the US only “less than 50%” hinting that Americans can redeem themselves by appeasing Al Qaeda with arms, money, political power, and diplomatic support. At his side in the city leadership is Sufian bin Kumu, Osama bin Laden’s chauffeur, another terrorist who was an inmate at Guantánamo Bay for six years. Also among the Darna city fathers is al-Barrani, a devoted member of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, which merged with Al Qaeda in 2007.

This gaggle of fanatics, psychotics, and criminals is billed by the CIA media as an effective ruling elite for the future democratic governance of Libya. In reality, the Benghazi rebel council, heavily larded with al Qaeda terrorists, could only preside over the descent of the country into a chaos of tribalism, warlords, and criminal syndicates which would spell the end of civilization itself in the area. Precisely this appears to be the goal of US policy, and not just in Libya.

Darna, Northeast Libya:
the World Capital of Terrorist Recruitment

Nor are these persons atypical. A December 2007 study by the US Military Academy at West Point showed that Libya (population 7 million) provided 20% of all Al Qaeda fighters crossing the Syrian border into Iraq at that time. This same city of Darna (population about 60,000) was the single greatest center of terrorist recruitment anywhere in the world, edging out Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (population 4.5 million); the rebel capital of Benghazi also placed in the top four. Libya sent twice as many terrorists into Iraq per capita as did Saudi Arabia, and 85% of the Libyans who indicated a specialty chose that of suicide bomber.

The London Economist, BBC Newsnight, and an increasing number of pro-Obama warmonger quackademics are attempting to obscure these plain facts. These are now mellow, pluralist, democratic terrorists, they argue. The CIA limited hangout operation known as Wikileaks has helpfully provided a few doctored cables purporting to show that it was really US support of Qaddafi that drove these fanatics into despair and terrorism — which is also part of the CIA line. On April 1, the Benghazi rebels themselves used the media presence at Friday prayers to hold up signs denying that the rebellion is run by Al Qaeda. If so, let them oust the terror triumvirate of Darna, and reveal the names of the dozen or more anonymous members of the rebel council who are suspected of belonging to Al Qaeda.

Hillary Clinton concedes she has no “100% insight” into the rebels, and US Admiral Stavridis, the NATO commander, has told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he sees only “flickers” of Al Qaeda. In truth, the central role of Al Qaeda is no flicker, but is as bright as the noonday sun over the Mediterranean.

Four Plagues of Libya

The Libyan insurrection has four components. The first is provided by the British, and consists of the monarchist and racist Harabi and Obeidat tribes of the Benghazi-Darna-Tobruk corridor, whose traditional culture is that of the obscurantist Senussi Order. During the resistance to Italian colonialism, these tribes allied with the British and were rewarded by seeing the head of the Senussi Order placed on the throne in the person of King Idris I, overthrown by Qaddafi in 1968. Deprived of their role as the monarchist ruling class, these tribes hate the black or dark-skinned pro-Qaddafi Fezzan tribes of southwest Libya, and this has fed into the lynching and massacre of many black Africans from Chad, Mali, and Sudan working in Libya, which the western media have ignored. Enan Obeidi, the woman who claims she was raped by Qaddafi forces, is an Obeidat from Benghazi, and this puts her story into question. For the media, she is a new edition of the Kuwait incubator babies hoax of 1990, made to order to whip up war hysteria against Qaddafi.

Two ingredients come from the CIA. These are Al Qaeda itself, founded as the CIA’s own Arab Legion against the USSR by then CIA deputy director Robert Gates – the current Defense Secretary– in Afghanistan in 1981-82. Another CIA ingredient is the Libyan National Salvation Front, based first in Sudan and then in Northern Virginia, which is supposedly sending the CIA asset Khalifa Hifter to lead the rebel military, most likely also to cover the presence of the Al Qaeda types.

A fourth component is contributed by the French, who arranged the defection of top Qaddafi associate Nouri Mesmari last fall, as reported by Maghreb Confidential. A clique of generals around Mesmari helped foment the military mutinies against Qaddafi in northeast Libya.

And Libya is not unique. In Yemen, al Qaeda operatives are decisive components of the CIA putsch attempt against President Saleh, which US is promoting in order to fragment Yemen into two or more rump states. Here the Al Qaeda leader is al-Shihri, a Saudi who was freed along with several other Guantánamo inmates and sent to Yemen by the Bush administration, allegedly as a humanitarian gesture, but in reality to provide leadership for the coming destabilization. Also in Yemen is the American-born Anwar Awlaki, known in the trade as Awlaki the CIA lackey, an obvious US double agent who has been used to give the Al Qaeda seal of approval to dozens of terrorists including the Fort Dix six, Major Hasan of Fort Hood, and Mutallab of Nigeria, the Christmas 2009 underwear bomber.

In Syria, the CIA goal is to deprive Iran of an ally, to isolate Hezbollah, to oust Russia from the Tartus naval station, and to build the power of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the principal force promoting the insurrection so far.

Demand that the State Department Explain
Why the US is Arming al Qaeda Terrorists

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan has rightly warned against the NATO policy of arming the Libyan rebels, since this would be “conducive to terrorism.” Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has also condemned any NATO arming of the rebels. Pope Benedict XVI’s call for a cease-fire goes in the same direction. Russia, Turkey, China, and other governments must now formally demand explanations from the State Department as to why the US is providing the most dangerous international terrorists with modern weapons and training, while proposing to award them large chunks of the $32 billion of frozen Libyan government assets, plus a share in coming oil revenues. This is enough to make the Mediterranean, the Arab world, and southern Europe boil over with refugees, piracy, mayhem, and war.

Under Bush and Cheney, the alleged presence of Al Qaeda was used as a pretext for bombings and invasions. Under Obama, an overstretched and moribund US-UK imperialism is using al Qaeda as its own irregular infantry in the effort to harass and cripple the nation-states of the world, causing them to disintegrate into a tribal, sectarian, criminal, and warlord chaos. In the current phase, al Qaeda has resumed its original status as CIA guerrillas. As a result, civilization itself is threatened across vast areas of the globe. If you are skeptical, just take a look at the city council of Darna, Libya.

MI6's Muslim Brotherhood "Smart Mob" gets green light from Queen Elizabeth
« Reply #23 on: April 29, 2011, 01:09:29 AM »
Check out the old bitch banning Syrian leaders from the orgy of intergenerational monarch sacrificial rites of passage. She bars them from the wedding (I have no clue why they would want to go to the insanity) and then gives the MI6 invention (a.k.a. Muslim Brotherhood) to stage some RAND Corp "Smart Mob" massacres on Friday...

Muslim Brotherhood Orders MI6 Sanctioned Protests In Syria
http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/World-News/Syria-Muslim-Brotherhood-Calls-For-People-To-Take-To-The-Streets-To-Protest-Against-The-Regime/Article/201104415981678
1:40am UK, Friday April 29, 2011

The banned Muslim Brotherhood has called on Syrians to take to the streets to protest against the regime ahead of Friday prayers. The declaration is the first time that the Brotherhood, whose leadership is in exile, have called directly for demonstrations since pro-democracy demonstrations against President Bashar al Assad's autocratic rule erupted six weeks ago. It comes as members of the country's army units have reportedly clashed with each other over the crackdown on protesters in the city of Deraa - the heart of the popular uprising. More than 500 people have been killed across Syria - about 100 in Deraa alone - since the revolt against President Assad began in mid-March, according to human rights groups. Ausama Monajed, a spokesman for a group of opposition figures in Syria and abroad, said the clashes among the troops have occurred since President Assad sent the army into the city on Monday. He said: "There are some battalions that refused to open fire on the people. "Battalions of the 5th Division were protecting people, and returned fire when they were subjected to attacks by the 4th Division." The 4th division is run by the president's brother, Maher. The Syrian government has denied there have been clashes between army units. The reported infighting in Deraa does not indicate any decisive splits in the military. But the development is being seen as significant because President Assad's army has been seen as a bastion of support for the regime. The Assad regime has been heavily criticised internationally and the US is considering tightening sanctions against the country. European governments will discuss the situation on Friday A push for the UN Security Council to condemn the crackdown was blocked by Russia, China and Lebanon on Wednesday night.

Obama Makes Secret Deal With Taliban, Recruits Qaradawi

December 31, 2011
Andrew C. McCarthy

The surrender is complete now. The Hindu reports that the Obama administration has turned to Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s leading jurist, to mediate secret negotiations between the United States and the Taliban.

I wrote about Qaradawi at length in The Grand Jihad and, here at NRO, have regularly catalogued his activities (see, e.g., here, here, here, here, and here; see also Andrew Bostom’s “Qaradawi’s Odious Vision”). For those who may be unfamiliar with him, he is the most influential Sunni Islamist in the world, thanks to such ventures as his al-Jazeera TV program (Sharia and Life) and website (IslamOnline.net). In 2003, he issued a fatwa calling for the killing of American troops in Iraq. As he put it,

    Those killed fighting the American forces are martyrs given their good intentions since they consider these invading troops an enemy within their territories but without their will. . . . Although they are seen by some as being wrong, those defending against attempts to control Islamic countries have the intention of jihad and bear a spirit of the defense of their homeland.

Qaradawi urges that Islam must dominate the world, under a global caliphate governed by sharia. He maintains that Islam “will conquer Europe [and] will conquer America.” He sometimes qualifies that the conquering will be done “not through the sword but through da’wa,” but the qualification is a feint.

Da’wa sounds harmless — it refers to missionary work to spread Islam. Islam, however, is not like other religions. The idea is not to spread a set of spiritual principles but incrementally to impose a full-scale social system with its own authoritarian legal code, covering all aspects of life and instituting a caste system in which women and non-Muslims are subjugated. Nor is da’wa like other missionary work; it is the use of all available means of pressure — political campaigns, lawfare, infiltration of the media, control of the education system, etc. — to advance (a) the acceptance of Islamic principles and (b) the evisceration of principles (e.g., free speech, economic liberty) that undergird competitors, in particular, Western civilization. Moreover, the claim that da’wa is non-violent is frivolous. Much of the mission of da’wa is to rationalize terrorism as divinely mandated self-defense.

Thus does Sheikh Qaradawi champion Hamas, mass-murder attacks, and suicide bombings. “They are not suicide operations,” he brays. “These are heroic martyrdom operations.” Indeed, he elaborates, “The martyr operations is [sic] the greatest of all sorts of jihad in the cause of Allah.”

Thus does Qaradawi urge the destruction of Israel, rebuking clerics who dare counsel against killing civilians. “I am astonished,” he inveighs, “that some sheikhs deliver fatwas that betray the mujahideen, instead of supporting them and urging them to sacrifice and martyrdom.” As the Investigative Project on Terrorism recounts, when the imam of Mecca’s Grand Mosque issued guidance against the killing of civilians, Qaradawi upbraided him: “It is unfortunate to hear that the grand imam has said it was not permissible to kill civilians in any country or state, even in Israel.”

Not surprisingly, then, the sheikh is also wont to invoke what the West refuses to acknowledge: the Jew-hatred that is endemic in Islam because it is rooted in scripture — not in modern grievances that could be satisfied if only the West changed its policies and Israel had the good grace to disappear. As Qaradawi puts it, echoing the charter of Hamas (the Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestinian branch):

    This is what is told in the Hadith of Ibn-Omar and the Hadith of Abu-Hurairah: “You shall continue to fight the Jews and they will fight you, until the Muslims will kill them. And the Jew will hide behind the stone and the tree, and the stone and the tree will say: ‘Oh servant of Allah, Oh Muslim, this is a Jew behind me. Come and kill him!’ The resurrection will not come before this happens.” This is a text from the good omens in which we believe.

Qaradawi uses his al-Jazeera platform to preach this message to the Muslim masses. As the Middle East Media Research Institute and Robert Spencer document, in one memorable Friday “sermon” broadcast in 2009, he prayed that Allah would kill all Jews: “Oh Allah, take this oppressive, Jewish, Zionist band of people. Oh Allah, do not spare a single one of them. Oh Allah, count their numbers and kill them, down to the very last one.” He added that throughout history, Allah had imposed upon Jews “people who would punish them for their corruption. The last punishment was carried out by Adolph Hitler.”

After thousands of young Americans have laid down their lives to protect the United States from jihadist terror, President Obama apparently seeks to end the war by asking Qaradawi, a jihad-stoking enemy of the United States, to help him strike a deal that will install our Taliban enemies as part of the sharia state we have been building in Afghanistan. If the Hindu report is accurate, the price tag will include the release of Taliban prisoners from Gitmo — an element of the deal Reuters has also reported. The administration will also agree to the lifting of U.N. sanctions against the Taliban, and recognition of the Taliban as a legitimate political party (yes, just like the Muslim Brotherhood!). In return, the Taliban will pretend to forswear violence, to sever ties with al-Qaeda, and to cooperate with the rival Karzai regime.

It would mark one of the most shameful chapters in American history.

The Muslim Brotherhood comes to America

Lauren Bohn, Special to CNN
updated 12:14 PM EDT, Tue April 3, 2012

(CNN) -- Sondos Asem has butterflies, formulating answers to questions she expects to be asked and practicing her diction with the devotion of a high school debate champion. The gentle 24-year-old graduate student at the American University in Cairo is in a hotel room in downtown New York, figuring out what to wear on national television. ("This blazer would look good, right?" "Should I wear more color?")

Like many young Egyptians, she's been tweeting the fallout after the 2011 uprising that brought down former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. The stakes are higher than 140-character dispatches might suggest. Asem has emerged as an unlikely unofficial spokeswoman for the Muslim Brotherhood, helping to run its English-language Twitter feed, @Ikhwanweb, and in turn revamp the group's image in the West.

In no more than three lines, often using abbreviations and hyperlinks, she hashes out the views of the Brotherhood, the 83-year-old fountainhead of political Islam in the region and one of the most powerful organizations in Egypt. The Brotherhood's newly established political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party, has won just under half of the seats in the country's new parliament -- more than any other group -- and will have a major hand in rewriting the country's constitution.

This week, Asem and five members of the Brotherhood are in New York as part of the group's first delegation in the United States, the face the Brotherhood thinks perhaps would be well received in the West. Asem is part of a worldly, urban generation. She shops at Egypt's flashy mega-malls. She brushes her eyelids with a modest dash of sparkly eye shadow and wears designer head-scarves. She has an affinity for cosmopolitan cities and uses American teen parlance like "You rock" and "Yeaaah, girl." She seems very unlike the kind of person who has historically been loyal to the Brotherhood.

Founded in Egypt in 1928, the group is the oldest and largest Islamist movement in the world. It has affiliates and branches throughout the region and adherents in Europe and the United States. Mostly made up of middle-class doctors, lawyers, and other professionals, the Brotherhood has sought a more traditional Islamic society by building extensive networks and social services across the country, often filling in gaps left by the neglect of sclerotic, corrupt regimes.

Band of brothers

Until the Egyptian uprising in 2011, the Brotherhood was officially banned by Mubarak's government. Its members were routinely imprisoned. But it was given limited room to operate in the country and became one of the largest dissident organizations.

Many Western pundits and politicians have long denounced the group as a quasi-terrorist organization and the ancestor of al Qaeda. While some al Qaeda leaders -- notably Ayman al-Zawahiri, who is Egyptian -- have roots in the Brotherhood, al Qaeda largely dismisses it for renouncing violence and engaging politically.

When it comes to charming a largely Western audience, Asem is one of the Brotherhood's prized go-to people. She comes from a stalwart Brotherhood family. Her father is in charge of publishing all the organization's educational materials, like "How to be a good Muslim father" and "How to be a good Muslim wife." Her mother ran unsuccessfully for parliament and is the current chairman of the political party's committee on women.

Asem is persuasive and assertive, gesturing confidently as she talks, but she still looks down and shows the insecurities of a 20-something caught up in a national identity crisis.

Just six months ago, Asem went by a pseudonym in the press for fear of suffering a backlash among her private-university classmates, who are mostly secular and perceive the Brotherhood as a bunch of religious ideologues, bent on imposing Islamic law and diminishing civil liberties.

But times have changed since the Arab Spring.

The Brotherhood's near-landslide victory in parliamentary elections has given Asem and fellow members the confidence to back the group publicly. She and some of her equally eloquent colleagues have shuttled across the world to attend conferences on the revolutionary uprisings, and their opinions are being heard and heeded on an unprecedented scale.

At the recent Daily Beast/Newsweek Women in the World summit, Asem brushed elbows with actresses Meryl Streep and Angelina Jolie and sat on a panel moderated by Andrew Sullivan, a renowned gay Catholic blogger. It was a far different scene from a few years ago, when she and other members gathered clandestinely in cramped living rooms, turning off their mobile phones because they were afraid state security forces could be tracking their whereabouts.

As Asem settled into her hotel room in New York and prepared to meet with a prominent news organization's editorial board, she got word that her boss had decided to run for the presidency of Egypt.

"Wow! I can't believe it," she exclaimed.

Not many can. The political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood has nominated its longtime strategist and financier Khairat al-Shater for president. The announcement ran counter to the Brotherhood's previous pledge to stay out of the race, a decision the group said was made to prevent flooding the fledgling political system and derailing a smooth transition of power in the country.

The delegation that Asem is part of is meeting with Pulitzer-prize-winning journalists and the editorial boards of prestigious papers. The Council on Foreign Relations is hosting them in New York for a talk and they're meeting with the Carnegie Endowment and the Brookings Institution in Washington, with a lot of coffee-talk in between. The goal: to alleviate the fears of a still-suspicious American establishment.

Global charm offensive

The delegation is really part of an international charm offensive, analysts and critics say, that is strategically unrepresentative of the deeply hierarchal Brotherhood. The image the group is trying to portray to the West belies its oppressive views of women and religious minorities, these experts say. And politically that could be a concern to the West, because the Brotherhood has historically been hostile to Israel.

On the other hand, it would be foolish to shun the delegation, and the least the West should do is continue to engage the group to understand its strategic influence in the new Egypt, say Marc Lynch, director of the Institute for Middle East Studies at George Washington University.

Lynch says the recent meeting of former Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain with al-Shater in Cairo was perhaps the most eye-catching moment in this new engagement. Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was traveling with McCain, reportedly said of the trip: "I was very apprehensive when I heard the election results. But after visiting and talking with the Muslim Brotherhood, I am hopeful that ... we can have a relationship with Egypt where the Muslim Brotherhood is a strong political voice."

But at same time, there is going to be mutual suspicion on both the U.S. and Brotherhood sides, Lynch predicts. The Brotherhood will likely realize that whatever sympathy it got from America for being oppressed by Mubarak won't continue unless the Brotherhood brings democracy to Egypt.

"I don't discourage these road shows," says Michael Hanna, a Middle East analyst at the Century Foundation, a progressive nonpartisan think tank. "But there's always that question that hangs over the interactions: just how representative are these people of a very parochial, more conservative organization?"

It's not just abroad that the Brotherhood finds itself on the defensive, but also on its home turf.

The Tahrirists

An increasing rift between liberal and leftist political groups and the Muslim Brotherhood has shaken Egypt since the Tahrir Square uprising. Over the past year, many "Tahrirists" have complained that the Brotherhood has hijacked their revolution. They fear Egypt will become a near-theocracy, an instant replay of Iran's 1979 revolution.

With the Muslim Brotherhood winning most of the seats in the recent parliamentary elections, and the even more conservative Salafist Party coming in a close second, opponents fear a backsliding on minority rights, especially those of women.

Nathan J. Brown, a professor of international affairs at George Washington University, says Egypt's secular parties and young revolutionaries have lost the first major political battles of post-Mubarak Egypt. In the recent parliamentary elections, they only managed to secure a quarter of the seats in the People's Assembly and about 40 seats in the 100-member Constituent Assembly, elected by the parliament to draft the constitution. Many have withdrawn from the assembly in protest.

"We majorly failed," concedes Mahmoud Salem, a popular pro-democracy activist and blogger who tweets as "Sandmonkey." "The secular revolutionaries and leftists didn't focus on moving beyond Tahrir and engaging the streets, listening to the demands of the people. So right now, we have to reassess and plan before we move forward."

Leadership within the Brotherhood seems to have that process down pat, even while it's simultaneously trying to soften its fundamentalist image in the West.

"They have multiple discourses and they're playing to different audiences," says Shadi Hamid, research director at the Doha Brookings Center in Qatar. "Is that not politics? There are different personalities and currents within the vast group of 300,000 members. They represent a broad spectrum of society."

This is what democracy looks like in Egypt, says Hamid.

"People should stop assuming democracy is good for the liberalization of society, women, and minorities. Democracy doesn't necessarily translate to more rights," says Hamid. "In fact, it could mean the opposite."

Backdoor deal?

Many Egyptians believe, even fear, that the Muslim Brotherhood and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, senior members of Egypt's military, have been brokering a behind-the-scenes deal to share power after the formal handover to civilian rule happens at the end of June. But if any deal was in the works, it seems to have hit major difficulties in recent days.

The military refused the Brotherhood's demands that SCAF fire the military-appointed cabinet and allow the parliamentary majority to form a government. Nominating al-Shater as a presidential candidate is seen as the group's boldest move in a recently escalating battle for power. The Brotherhood's critics now compare the group to the Mubarak regime, citing a lack of democracy within the organization. Breaking its pledge that it wouldn't field a presidential candidate is just more evidence that the Brotherhood wants power at all costs, critics say.

They also cite an internal crackdown on younger members who wanted change. Mohammed Abbas, a leading member of the Revolution Youth alliance, left the organization soon after the Tahrir Square uprising. "You don't have a say in the Brotherhood," he says, noting that many young Brotherhood members have since been forced to leave the organization for supporting the presidential bid of Abdel Moneim Fotouh, another former Brotherhood leader. "It's not a democracy."

Promises for Egypt's poor

Under a mantra of "Islam is the solution," the Brotherhood has maintained influence by providing social services like education and health care to the 40% of Egyptians who live under the poverty line.

In one of the many slum neighborhoods of Cairo, where the Brotherhood has provided social services for decades, a pregnant Alia Ali, 22, steps out of a maze of dilapidated apartment buildings. "It's a mess in this country. I don't even know what's happening anymore. We were going to support Hazem Salah Abou Ismail (a Salafist candidate), but then we hear the Brotherhood now wants us to vote for Khairat. When will this all be over?"

Her father, Ahmed, an unemployed mechanic and now cab driver, isn't a Brotherhood member, but voted for its candidate in parliamentary elections. "The Egyptian people are tools again in politics," he said, about to start his second shift of the day. "Nothing has changed."

While some Salafists have discussed their desire to push for Islamic banking, restrict the sale of alcohol, and censor art, the Brotherhood has pledged to respect basic individual liberties while guiding society in a more conservative direction.

"It will be tough to figure out ways, like with tourism, to welcome other cultures, but to also make sure they respect our identity as an Islamic state," admits Dina Zakaria, one of the Freedom and Justice Party's female advocates. "And while we don't impose the head-scarf, we believe, at the end of the day, it's crucial for women in Islam."

The Brotherhood for women?

Though the Brotherhood says women will share equal rights, often holding up spokeswomen like Asem and Zakaria as examples, critics point to an organization they say reflects Egypt's patriarchal history.

No women are represented in any of the movement's two main power structures -- the Shura Council and the Guidance Bureau.

In the past, members have defended separating men and women because, they say, that causes fewer problems. The Freedom and Justice Party offers more opportunities for women, argues Essam El-Erian, a senior leader. During the recent parliamentary elections, the party fielded about 75 female candidates -- more than any other party. Nine of the 498 newly elected parliamentarians are women, four of them from the party.

One of the group's well-known female foot soldiers, Zahraa al-Shater, is Khairat al-Shater's wife and the mother of their four children. When 22 senior Brotherhood figures were arrested in 2006 (including her father and husband), she launched a campaign of mothers and daughters against the court bodies trying the men. This, to her, is a step forward for women. "Women saved this organization," she resolutely proclaims. "It might not look like Western feminism based on secular notions, but we are empowered."

But even women in the group have given ammunition to critics' claims that the Brotherhood's policies are retrograde.

One of the group's parliamentarians, Azza El Garf, has been hit with bad press after a few colorful comments that she says were taken out of context. She said that all women should take cooking classes and that no sexual harassment exists in Egypt. (She stands by the latter remark, saying she's often walked home at 2 a.m., and has never once been assaulted.) And while the Brotherhood supports Egypt's ban on female genital mutilation, she recently came out against it, saying that a woman has a choice in deciding to undergo the practice.

The granddaughter of Hassan al-Banna, the late founder of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, feels differently. Sanaa al-Banna, 25, at work on her doctorate at Cairo University, left the Brotherhood a few years ago and has cut almost all communication with members. She is working with a separate activist group now.

"If I were a man, I still would have left. There's no freedom for either sex," she says. "The Brotherhood is becoming more and more like the NDP (the National Democratic Party of Hosni Mubarak, which was quickly disbanded after his ouster). There's no transparency, no permission for the divergence of thoughts or critical thinking. It's their way or you're out."

"They wanted me to stay on the front desk, you know, the people the media talk to -- Khairat al-Shater's 'friendly to the West' public relations wing. But these people really have no say. I was the old Sondos," she says. "But I got out."

Asem on American TV

Back in New York, Asem finally decides what she'll wear for her debut on CNN (a fitted off-white blazer). She says she's nervous about what an American audience will think of her.

"We have the Egyptian streets and we're just trying to show secular Egyptians and the world that they shouldn't be afraid," she says, sure of her mission. "That's all, honestly."

She goes on "Starting Point," a talk-driven morning show hosted by Soledad O'Brien.

Will Cain, a conservative pundit, interrupts her as she's speaking. "One of the charges often made ... is you come, say stuff to us in English here ... and then go back to Egypt, speak in Arabic, and say just the opposite," he says.

She knew this question was coming. Her voice shakes and she's visibly nervous. She looks like a 24-year-old with a lot of responsibility.

Cain is wrong, she tries to say -- the Brotherhood's message is consistent. It stands for human dignity and freedom. It has expressed full commitment to the peace treaty with Israel. It wants a civil, democratic state.

Back at her hotel room, she reassesses her performance and checks in on Twitter.

"Some 'tweeps,' of course, didn't like what I said," she notes. "But one thing is for sure -- I do need to smile more. Next time."

A good indicator of where Egyptian foreign policy is headed....30 years ago the Camp David Accords were signed by Egypt and Israel, and at the time were popular in Egypt.
The understanding of the accords was that after Egyptian/Israeli peace was achieved a just resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict would be achieved imminently...that never happened...and now we're here

Posted today, saying they will March tomorrow.

I contacted a University educated friend in Cairo after I saw your post with the video about Dr. Mursi and the Egyptian elections. I wanted to find out more.

He said Dr Mursi is extremely popular in Egypt with a huge following.

I am quite curious as to how this March on Jerusalem and liberation of Gaza will go. Sounds like a new crusade for the Muslims to recuperate their holy place from the Jews. These people are extremely motivated and determined. Israel has a lot to fear from them. Could turn into a war any time.

Muslim Brotherhood infiltrates U.S. public schools?

A flurry of news media reports last week highlighted a Harlem public elementary school that will become the first in New York to require students to study Arabic.

Entirely unreported is that the organization that co-created and funded the Arabic language program for the New York school, KleinOnline has found, maintains close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood while the group’s founder also started the Al Jazeera television network.

The Qatar Foundation International, or QFI, a nonprofit group financed by the government of Qatar, gave Harlem’s Hamilton Heights, a K-5 public school school, a $250,000 grant to support the Arabic program for three years.

The school’s Arabic language program was reportedly developed by QFI and the the Global Language Project.

In addition to the Harlem school, KleinOnline found that the QFI just awarded “Curriculum Grants” to seven U.S. schools and language organizations to “develop comprehensive and innovative curricula and teaching materials to be used in any Arabic language classroom.”

Those schools include Bell High School, a Los Angeles public school, and Safford K-8 in Arizona’s Tucson Unified School District.

QFI, based in Washington DC, is the U.S. branch of the Qatar Foundation, founded in 1995 by Qatar’s ruling emir, Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani.

MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD: Islam Forbids Attacking Embassies
« Reply #30 on: September 15, 2012, 12:53:03 PM »
"Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Barr, member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Guidance Bureau and Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Al-Azhar University, affirmed that: "Foreign embassies in our homeland must be secured. Islam forbids attacking them in any way".

In a post on his official page on Facebook, Dr. Al-Barr added: "Every foreigner who enters into our country is in our trust, and we have a duty to secure and protect them. Attacking them is like attacking any of us"."

Khatab: MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD Economic Program Based on Free Market, Social Justice
« Reply #31 on: September 15, 2012, 12:59:52 PM »
 Dr. Abdullah Khattab, member of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s Economic Affairs Committee, asserted that the economic vision of the FJP and the Muslim Brotherhood maintains an essential balance between the capitalist and the socialist-oriented market systems, within a moral framework, and Islamic reference.

 Khattab rejected as false statements by Mustafa Saeed, former Finance Minister and senior member of the defunct National Democratic Party, claiming that Brotherhood leaders do not have any economic vision.

 Khattab further added that Mustafa Saeed never read the FJP’s program, nor the material presented by the Brotherhood in that program: economic thought based on Islamic reference, taking into account the balance between the free market and requirements of social justice, while seeking to build strong institutions in Egypt, away from the control of business corporations.

 "Claims that Brotherhood businessmen control the Egyptian economy in a manner similar to the Mubarak era where capital ruled over the state, are basically vilifying slanders by individuals who never read the FJP’s economic program.

Mr. Shipp and Mr. Rassooli discuss Islam's teachings regarding the US Constitution, Islamic Sharia Law and its teaching on Constitutional democracies, US involvement in Syria and support of the Islamic Free Syrian Army, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's role in removing Muammar Gaddafi from Libya, running guns to Islamic rebels, many of which wound up in the hands of ISIS, the takeover of the Libyan government by the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda, and the complete destabilization of the Middle East.  This is a profound and courageous discussion.

The Muslim Brotherhood "Project"
By: Patrick Poole
 FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, May 11, 2006

One might be led to think that if international law enforcement authorities and Western intelligence agencies had discovered a twenty-year old document revealing a top-secret plan developed by the oldest Islamist organization with one of the most extensive terror networks in the world to launch a program of “cultural invasion” and eventual conquest of the West that virtually mirrors the tactics used by Islamists for more than two decades, that such news would scream from headlines published on the front pages and above the fold of the New York Times, Washington Post, London Times, Le Monde, Bild, and La Repubblica.

If that’s what you might think, you would be wrong.

In fact, such a document was recovered in a raid by Swiss authorities in November 2001, two months after the horror of 9/11. Since that time information about this document, known in counterterrorism circles as “The Project”, and discussion regarding its content has been limited to the top-secret world of Western intelligence communities. Only through the work of an intrepid Swiss journalist, Sylvain Besson of Le Temps, and his book published in October 2005 in France, La conquête de l'Occident: Le projet secret des Islamistes (The Conquest of the West: The Islamists' Secret Project), has information regarding The Project finally been made public. One Western official cited by Besson has described The Project as “a totalitarian ideology of infiltration which represents, in the end, the greatest danger for European societies.”

Now FrontPage readers will be the first to be able to read the complete English translation of The Project.

What Western intelligence authorities know about The Project begins with the raid of a luxurious villa in Campione, Switzerland on November 7, 2001. The target of the raid was Youssef Nada, director of the Al-Taqwa Bank of Lugano, who has had active association with the Muslim Brotherhood for more than 50 years and who admitted to being one of the organization’s international leaders. The Muslim Brotherhood, regarded as the oldest and one of the most important Islamist movements in the world, was founded by Hasan al-Banna in 1928 and dedicated to the credo, “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Qur’an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.”

The raid was conducted by Swiss law enforcement at the request of the White House in the initial crackdown on terrorist finances in the immediate aftermath of 9/11
. US and Swiss investigators had been looking at Al-Taqwa’s involvement in money laundering and funding a wide range of Islamic terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, HAMAS (the Palestinian affiliate of the Muslim Brotherhood), the Algerian GIA, and the Tunisian Ennahdah.

Included in the documents seized during the raid of Nada’s Swiss villa was a 14-page plan written in Arabic and dated December 1, 1982, which outlines a 12-point strategy to “establish an Islamic government on earth” – identified as The Project. According to testimony given to Swiss authorities by Nada, the unsigned document was prepared by “Islamic researchers” associated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
...

The following tactics and techniques are among the many recommendations made in The Project:

•Networking and coordinating actions between likeminded Islamist organizations;
•Avoiding open alliances with known terrorist organizations and individuals to maintain the appearance of “moderation”;
•Infiltrating and taking over existing Muslim organizations to realign them towards the Muslim Brotherhood’s collective goals;
•Using deception to mask the intended goals of Islamist actions, as long as it doesn’t conflict with shari’a law;
•Avoiding social conflicts with Westerners locally, nationally or globally, that might damage the long-term ability to expand the Islamist powerbase in the West or provoke a lash back against Muslims;
•Establishing financial networks to fund the work of conversion of the West, including the support of full-time administrators and workers;
•Conducting surveillance, obtaining data, and establishing collection and data storage capabilities;
•Putting into place a watchdog system for monitoring Western media to warn Muslims of “international plots fomented against them”;
•Cultivating an Islamist intellectual community, including the establishment of think-tanks and advocacy groups, and publishing “academic” studies, to legitimize Islamist positions and to chronicle the history of Islamist movements;
•Developing a comprehensive 100-year plan to advance Islamist ideology throughout the world;
•Balancing international objectives with local flexibility;
•Building extensive social networks of schools, hospitals and charitable organizations dedicated to Islamist ideals so that contact with the movement for Muslims in the West is constant;
•Involving ideologically committed Muslims in democratically-elected institutions on all levels in the West, including government, NGOs, private organizations and labor unions;
•Instrumentally using existing Western institutions until they can be converted and put into service of Islam;
•Drafting Islamic constitutions, laws and policies for eventual implementation;
•Avoiding conflict within the Islamist movements on all levels, including the development of processes for conflict resolution;
•Instituting alliances with Western “progressive” organizations that share similar goals;
•Creating autonomous “security forces” to protect Muslims in the West;
•Inflaming violence and keeping Muslims living in the West “in a jihad frame of mind”;
•Supporting jihad movements across the Muslim world through preaching, propaganda, personnel, funding, and technical and operational support;
•Making the Palestinian cause a global wedge issue for Muslims;
•Adopting the total liberation of Palestine from Israel and the creation of an Islamic state as a keystone in the plan for global Islamic domination;
•Instigating a constant campaign to incite hatred by Muslims against Jews and rejecting any discussions of conciliation or coexistence with them;
•Actively creating jihad terror cells within Palestine;
•Linking the terrorist activities in Palestine with the global terror movement;
•Collecting sufficient funds to indefinitely perpetuate and support jihad around the world;

In reading The Project, it should be kept in mind that it was drafted in 1982 when current tensions and terrorist activities in the Middle East were still very nascent. In many respects, The Project is extremely prescient for outlining the bulk of Islamist action, whether by “moderate” Islamist organizations or outright terror groups, over the past two decades.

The Al Taqwa Bank (occasionally Bank al Taqwa or simply Al Taqwa[1]) is a financial institution incorporated in 1988. It is based out of The Bahamas, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. Al Taqwa Bank was accused by the United States of having links to Islamist terror organizations, and that it was a major source of funds for the operations of Osama bin Laden and his associates.[2] On August 2, 2010, the bank was removed from a list of entities and individuals associated with Al Qaeda that is maintained by the UN Security Council.[3][4]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youssef_Nada
Youssef Moustafa Nada (born 17 May 1931, in Egypt) is a noted businessman and Muslim Brotherhood financial strategist. Nada is most famous for raising successful European human rights legal cases to defend himself against accusations of terrorism by the United States. The U.S. accusations, made directly after the 9/11 attacks, resulted in his placement on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267 terror blacklist.

In 2001, Nada, former chairman of al Taqwa Bank, was placed on the UN terror list by the US Treasury Department. Nada was alleged to have financed activities of al Qaeda, charges Nada vehemently denied.[1] The U.S. accusation was made applicable under the UN terror-listing program and affected his life in Switzerland, notably his assets, reputation, honor, and ability to move freely. In 2006, he sued the Swiss government for restitution of financial losses due to the Swiss investigation.[2]

By 2009, both the Swiss and Italian investigations of Nada were dropped as no evidence was found to support the U.S. accusations. Both Switzerland and Italy petitioned the UN Terrorism Committee to remove Nada's name from the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267 blacklist, at the objection of the United States. The U.S. finally acquiesced to his removal on 24 September 2009, but retained Nada on the domestic U.S. Treasury list under Executive Order 13224.

The United States refuses to disclose evidence of Nada's guilt, claiming that the evidence is classified.[4]

Between 2007–2009, Nada's ordeal was the focal point of a Council of Europe Parliamentary human rights investigation of the UN terror-blacklisting procedures, and the UN Terrorism Committee in general.[5]

In 2008, Nada raised a case against Switzerland at the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

On 12 September 2012, the European Court of Human Rights ruled in favor of Nada,[4] citing that Nada's human rights had been violated,[6][7] in the context of the European Convention on Human Rights. In this ruling the government of Switzerland was ordered to pay Nada 30,000 Euros in damages, for their treatment of him as a person placed — with no evidence of guilt — on the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267 terror blacklist by the United States.

In November 2001, Swiss investigators will search the home of Youssef Nada, the leader of Al Taqwa Bank, a Swiss bank that had just been shut down by the US and the UN for alleged ties to al-Qaeda, Hamas, and other radical militant groups (see November 7, 2001). Nada and other Al Taqwa directors are prominent members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Newsweek will say, “The Brotherhood, founded in Egypt in 1928 as a religious and quasi-political counterweight to the corrupt and increasingly decadent royalist and colonial governments dominating the Islamic world, always has had two faces: one a peaceful public, proselytizing and social-welfare oriented wing; the other a clandestine, paramilitary wing.… Intelligence and law-enforcement officials say that while some branches and elements of the Brotherhood, such as the offshoots now operating in Egypt and Syria, have pledged to work for their goal of a worldwide Islamic caliphate using peaceful means and electoral politics, the Brotherhood has also spun off many—if not most—of the more violent local and international groups devoted to the cause of Islamic holy war.” Such offshoots will include al-Qaeda and Hamas. [Newsweek, 12/24/2004] Swiss investigators discover a 14-page document from December 1982 entitled “The Project.” Nada claims not to know who wrote the document or how he came to have it, and he says he disagrees with most of the contents. The document details a strategic plan whose ultimate goal is “the establishment of the reign of God over the entire world.” The document begins, “This report presents a global vision of an international strategy of Islamic policy.” It recommends to “study of the centers of power locally and worldwide, and the possibilities of placing them under influence,” to contact and support new holy war movements anywhere in the world, to support holy war in Palestine, and “nurtur[e] the sentiment of rancor with regard to Jews.” Swiss investigators who analyze the document will later write that the strategy aims to achieve “a growing influence over the Muslim world. It is pointed out that the [Muslim Brotherhood] doesn’t have to act in the name of the Brotherhood, but can infiltrate existing entities. They can thus avoid being located and neutralized.” The document also advocates creating a network of religious, educational, and charitable institutions in Europe and the US to increase influence there. Said Ramadan (Arabic: سعيد رمضان‎; born April 12, 1926 in Shibin Al Kawm, Al Minufiyah, died August 4, 1995 in Geneva) was an Egyptian religious scholar and activist, and a major figure in the Muslim Brotherhood. He was the son-in-law of Hassan al-Banna, the Muslim Brotherhood's founder. After being expelled from Egypt by Gamal Abdul Nasser for his activities, Said Ramadan moved to Saudi Arabia where he was one of the original members of the constituent council of the Muslim World League, a charity and missionary group.[1]

He then moved to Geneva, Switzerland, before finishing a dissertation at the University of Cologne in 1959.

In 1961 he founded the Islamic Center in Geneva, a combination mosque, think tank, and community center. His son Hani Ramadan now runs that center.

Another son, Tariq Ramadan is prominent in international Islamic affairs and academics.

Said Ramadan's US connections included Muslim leader Malcolm X.

The Centre Islamique de Genève (Islamic Center of Geneva) is also known as "the Little Mosque" of Geneva.

It is the oldest Islamic center in Europe, founded by the Egyptian Said Ramadan in 1965.

The Center occupies a small whitewashed house with green shutters, close to Lake Geneva in the Les Eaux-Vives neighborhood. The largest room on the lower level of the house has been converted into a mosque.

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole ; He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. - Job 5

n terms of the Project mentioned above,

I believe that Solomon Biheiri, mentioned in the link, grew up in Switzerland and knew some of the people involved. BMI was founded in '86.

Kassam to Marlow on Breitbart XM: Naivety over Shariah Supremacism Runs Throughout Western World

http://www.breitbart.com/london/2017/08/01/kassam-breitbart-xm-naivety-shariah-supremacism-western-world/

Quote
Discussing his new book, No Go Zones: How Sharia Law Is Coming to a Neighborhood Near You, on Tuesday, Kassam said he was struck by the “naivety through optimism that locals and officials had” in No Go Zone areas such as Rinkeby and Husby in Sweden, Molenbeek in Belgium, and Hamtramck in Detroit.

“I met with nice people, well meaning people who are so naive who believe that in a generation or two this will all go away. It won’t go away,” Kassam told Breitbart News Editor in Chief Alex Marlow, pointing to evidence in Europe that the next generation of Muslims is more fundamentalist, literal, and radical.
