Through all of the financial upheavals, they just make us madder and madder at the system. Now with our country in a recession and incomes getting tighter by the minute, many pet owners are now being faced with difficult and emotional decisions. These loyal pets become part of the family unit. Sadly enough they are finding new homes in animal shelters Sad

Right on  Wink

On a side note it kinda annoys slightly when people say their pet "is like one of the family",all of our pets are members of the family.

dogs that actually bark when someone is coming close to the house are an asset for sure

plus when you get really hungry, never mind, no one want to talk about stuff like that

Isn't PETA against pet ownership of any kind? If so, then that's another reason for PETA to take a flying leap without a parachute.

Apparently some folks can't fork out $1200/yr for food and vet visitsanymore, thanks to our nazi induced economy. It's sad they have to leave them outside the SPCA with a note on the box  Cry

ya know, i have three chihuahuas and it cost about 4 dollars a week to feed them, and no i've never taken them to the vet.

of course they live inside, but what's worse? foregoing vet visits or abandoning them to shelters and inevitable euthanasia?

I started running into area vets that were worse than doctors with their 'new medicines' and repeated followups. Hell, my dogs got more shots and doctor visits than I did Smiley
My last dog was euthanized a few years back and I've not looked for another one. I was bummed for weeks.

If I ever get to the point that I can't feed my little guys I will take them out to the woods and end it. I can't see putting them in a animal shelter just to have them gassed. I can't see giving them to someone whom will stop taking care of them either. So I will have to take responsibility and do the job myself. If I have to come to that bridge God help the cock sucker wearing black that comes on my property.

Wow - heartbreaking story, but truly incredible that the little male pup made it.  He is really pretty and I bet after going through all of that you are seriously bonded to him now big time!

This is Mitzi our new Kitten ( new as of September 08) She is a bit bigger now but this pic is my fave of her. I shall never get rid of her for anything... She is part of the family, I be lost without a cat. I adore cats from a young age, we had a cat who lived to 21 once.
