Michael Connell Canceled Two Flights on Suspicion his Plane may be SABOTAGED !!!

That, plus the subsequent warning he received not to fly, will all be dismissed by coincidence theorists as, well, mere "coincidences."

That's because in their Orwellian fantasy land, only people at or near the bottom of the power pyramid "conspire" to engage in criminal wrongdoing, while those at or near the top are literally incapable of it. Hence their habitual tendency to conclude that no "foul play" was involved before any investigation has even started::)

Mystery surrounds the death of a Republican pollster, recently compelled to give evidence about alleged election fraud in the 2004 election in Ohio, after he was killed in a plane crash.

By Toby Harnden in Washington
Last Updated: 8:57PM GMT 21 Dec 2008

Top internet strategist Michael Connell, 45, was the only person in his single-engine private plane that crashed three miles short of the Akron-Canton airport on Friday night as he prepared to land after flying from College Park, Maryland, close to Washington.

He had worked on Mr Bush's two presidential campaigns, advised John McCain this year and was also linked to allegedly missing White House emails in the 2006 controversy over a string of firings of US attorneys.

The death of the married father of four immediately triggered conspiracy theories amid speculation that he had been about to reveal embarrassing details of the complicity of senior members of the Bush administration in fixing an election and destroying incriminating emails.

In a blog posting entitled "One of my sources died in a plane crash last night...", Larisa Alexandrovna of The Raw Story revealed that Mr Connell had been talking to her about the Ohio case alleging that vote-tampering during the 2004 presidential election resulted in civil rights violations.

"Mike was getting ready to talk. He was frightened... I am not saying that this was a hit nor am I resigned to this being simply an accident either. I am no expert on aviation and cannot provide an opinion on the matter. What I am saying, however, is that given the context, this event needs to be examined carefully."

A house was damaged in the 6pm crash in freezing conditions but no one apart from the pilot was killed or injured.

"He suffered massive traumatic injuries over his entire body," said Harry Campbell, the local coroner's chief investigator. "His death was instantaneous."

Mr Connell was president of GovTech Solutions and New Media Communications. A web designer, he had created a website for Ohio's secretary of state that presented the results of the 2004 election in real time as they were released.

He had refused to testify or to hand over documents relating to the systems he had created for the 2004 and 2006 elections but was compelled to do so by subpoena in October and appeared in court in Cleveland, Ohio – the state which gave President George W Bush victory in 2004 – to give a deposition the day before Barack Obama won the presidential election.

A lawyer bringing the voter fraud case described Mr Connell as "a high IQ Forrest Gump" because he had been at the scene of so many "crimes" involving Republicans and the Bush administration.

Mr Connel's company website states that he "has served as internet consultant to scores of prominent senators, governors and members of Congress, as well as the Republican National Committee and five Republican National Conventions".

Check out all these unexpected deaths of people involved with elections

seem very unlucky.  Especially those in Ohio (4 of the 7) and Georgia (2 of the 7).

--Pokey Anderson

1. Dan Rocco -- April 1, 2002 -- ChoicePoint VP -- plane crash
He died on April 1, 2002, in a plane crash in Gainesville, Georgia. He was an executive vice president at ChoicePoint, the firm that gained infamy with their faulty "felons" list supplied to Katherine Harris during the 2000 election in Florida. As a result of this list, over 90,000 voters (mostly African-American voters) were wrongly identified as felons and purged from the rolls.

2. Wesley Vance -- April 26, 2003 -- Diebold VP -- plane crash
Pilot Killed In Plane Crash Was Top Exec At Diebold
April 28, 2003
http://www.wkbn.com/Global/story.asp?S=1253108
(Jackson-AP) -- The pilot of a single-engine airplane that crashed in southern Ohio over the weekend was the chief operating officer of Canton-based Diebold Incorporated.
The company says 45-year-old Wesley Vance of Canton was flying a private plane that crashed Saturday near the Jackson County Airport. ...The company says Vance joined Diebold in October, 2000, as president of its North America business unit. He was named chief operating officer in 2001. Chief Executive Walden O'Dell will assume the company's daily operational responsibilities until a successor is found for Vance. An airport spokesman says Vance was practicing takeoffs and landings in a six-seat Beachcraft A-36 when it crashed near the airport.

[Note - On September 21, 2005, Diebold announces that its current COO will leave his post and the board.  Stock drops 16% intraday.  O'Dell will temporarily assume the post.]

Vance was an Eagle Scout, elected to Boys State, and a church-going Mormon, married, father of five.  He earned a degree from Brigham Young University.  He was described as a confident person who people liked to be around.  His senior class in high school voted him "favorite boy".  He had been a pilot for over twenty years.  He was named to Diebold's No. 2 position as COO in 2001, managing the company's global operations.

3. Anthony J. Celebrezze Jr. -- July 4, 2003 -- Diebold consultant -- cause of death not confirmed
Anthony Celebrezze Dies

<http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1057397985113640.xml>

Former Ohio Attorney General Anthony J. Celebrezze Jr., 61, died yesterday in an Urbana hospital. Champaign County Coroner Joshua Richards confirmed that Celebrezze died about 9 p.m. yesterday, but would not confirm a cause of death.

Celebrezze, a Democrat of Columbus, was a stalwart in Cleveland and Ohio politics.... He was 38 when he was elected secretary of state in 1978.

He was Ohio attorney general from 1983 to 1991, and Ohio secretary of state from 1979 to 1983. Celebrezze ran against George Voinovich for governor in 1990 but lost.

Wayne Hill, Celebrezze's longtime communications director during the 1978 campaign for secretary of state and then attorney general, was in shock at Celebrezze's death yesterday.

Hill said Celebrezze, who enjoyed racing cars, was at Shady Bowl Speedway in De Graff for a Fourth of July race when he felt ill. De Graff is west of Columbus.

"It's beyond a shock. Tony had a passion for racing," said Hill in a telephone interview. "It's unbelievable. It's not right."

...After his loss to Voinovich, Celebrezze joined the law firm of Kegler, Brown, Hill & Ritter, and recently was a consultant for Diebold Inc., promoting electronic voting machines.

4.  Athan Gibbs, Jr.  -- March 12, 2004 -- invented the TruVote system -- car crash - collided w/ 18-wheeler
Was planning to present his new voting machine, and its paper verification features, to the Georgia legislature within a week of the crash.

5.  Andy Stephenson -- July 7, 2005 -- nationally known election activist -- pancreatic cancer

Andy had worked for Black Box Voting and barnstormed around the country investigating and speaking.  It was Andy who uncovered (among other things) much of the story of Jeffrey Dean, the VP at Diebold who did software programming, who was a convicted felon whose crime had been embezzlement using computers.  Andy went to many of the nation's election hotspots, including Florida and Ohio.

In January 2005, Andy noticed he didn't feel well.  In April, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  He was eventually treated at Johns Hopkins, after the national election community raised $50,000 in eleven days for his treatment.  He died of post-surgery complications and a series of strokes.  He was 43.  His surgery had been postponed for two weeks due to the efforts of people who tried to monkeywrench Paypal and Johns Hopkins, and who spread nasty rumors that Andy wasn't really sick, and that this was all a scam.  Someone managed to shut down his Medicaid after the surgery, once again slowing things down.  One of his supporters in Baltimore had her car vandalized.

He had said a year earlier: "I've been threatened by these people [makers of voting machines].  I've been followed from my home to work.  The president of Diebold told me to back off or I would get a visit.  My phone's been tapped.  I've been ridiculed.  I've been called a conspiracy theorist.  You bet I'm going to demonize them.  It's wrong.  We're privatizing our elections.  It's something that should remain in the hands of the people...We need to take it back.  It's We the People."  "If they take our right to vote away, we're nothing but slaves.  I'm sorry.  I'm not willing to be a slave.  I'm not willing to go quietly into the night."  --Andy Stephenson, July 13, 2004 in an interview following a press conference next to the Austin State Capitol Rotunda.

6.  Rev. Bill Moss -- August 2, 2005 -- lead plaintiff in Moss v. Bush -- stroke

Columbus, Ohio resident Bill Moss was highly visible in the efforts to rectify the many wrongs of the November 2004 election in Ohio.  Elected five times to the Columbus Board of Education, Rev. Moss was an eloquent speaker.  He was considered a possible national spokesperson for the election reform movement, in an informal meeting held in Houston on June 30, 2005 after the Election Assessment Hearing.  Like Athan Gibbs, Moss was African-American.

The World Health Organization has reported a sudden spike in the mortality rate of banking sub-elites and voter fraud sub elites by over 100,000%.

Just a coincidence, nothing to see here.
All eyes are opened, or opening, to the rights of man. The general spread of the light of science has already laid open to every view the palpable truth, that the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately

This is quite astounding, because all this Karl Rove suspicion is now getting into the mainstream.

This will end up in one  of two situations

1) Dies away and people just accept a powerful person killing someone
2) Totally exposes these criminals

Unfortunately I think it's the former

Exclusive, OH Election fraud Attorney Reacts to Death of Mike Connell
Cliff Arnebeck, lead attorney in the growing federal election conspiracy case tells The BRAD BLOG that the loss of a key witness will not deter his pursuit of justice
U.S. Dept. of Justice ignored months-long effort to protect GOP 'IT guru' following reported threats from Karl Rove...
-- Brad Friedman, The BRAD BLOG

The lead attorney in the widening 2004 federal election fraud conspiracy case which began in Ohio --- but is rapidly growing to other states and other elections --- says that the stunning death of a key witness last Friday is a blow to the case, but not the end of it by a long shot.

"Michael Connell was a critically important witness. His loss hurts our case," Cliff Arnebeck, the lead attorney for the plaintiffs in the King-Lincoln Bronzville v. OH Sec. of State lawsuit told The BRAD BLOG in an email responding to questions about Connell's death. The Republican 'IT guru', a top IT consultant to Karl Rove, George W. Bush, John McCain and a bevvy of Congressional Republicans, had been in the nation's capital on still-unknown business before his single engine plane crashed Friday night on the way home, just three miles short of the runway in Akron, Ohio. The cause of the crash remains similarly unknown as of today.

"We will have to adjust," Arnebeck told us in response to queries about where the case may necessarily need to go from here. "The kind of organized criminal enterprise we are addressing requires the resources of the very best that the investigative press corps and law enforcement, at all levels, can muster."

As posted on the New York Times website in full on Saturday, the last line of a press release from VelvetRevolution.us, who has retained Arnebeck as counsel in the case, reads "Our prior request to have Mr. Connell protected went unheeded and now he is dead." [DISCLOSURE: The BRAD BLOG is a co-founder of VR.]

However, despite Connell's elite status as a top-rung Republican consultant for years --- he reportedly received some $800,000 from the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2004 alone --- the NYTimes, the nation's paper of record, has yet to run anything else on the death of the man who, Arnebeck notes, he had intended to both further depose, as well as call to testify as a key trial witness in the federal conspiracy case. Coverage from the UK's Telegraph, however, is published here.

Connell had been compelled by the federal district judge in the case, on the Friday prior to last month's Presidential Election, to give a deposition to plaintiff attorneys on the Monday before the general election. The order for that deposition came after the OH attorneys had sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey, seeking protection for Connell and his wife. While Connell had expressed a willingness to testify about what he knew concerning the '04 election, and the election website network he had created for Ohio's then-Sec. of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, he had become reticent after Rove had sent threats to Connell and his wife, according to tipsters...

"We have been confidentially informed by a source we believe to be credible that Karl Rove has threatened Michael Connell, a principal witness we have identified in our King Lincoln case in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, that if he does not agree to 'take the fall' for election fraud in Ohio, his wife Heather will be prosecuted for supposed lobby law violations," the attorneys' letter to Mukasey read. (The full letter was posted by The BRAD BLOG here in July.)

Arnebeck says that, despite the letter sent nearly five months ago to the DoJ "seeking protection for Mr. Connell and his family from this reported attempt to intimidate a witness," as well as several messages sent to highly-placed DoJ officials, he has yet to receive a reply from the nation's top law enforcement agency.

Over the weekend, he sent another email "expressing the hope that the very best resources will be applied to the airplane crash investigation."

In response to questions about how Connell's death on Friday might affect his lawsuit going forward, Arnebeck told us, "I thought that by getting all of this to the top career organized crime guy at Justice, we had established a protective spotlight around Connell. Connell's death, however it was caused, is tragic."

"Connell was a man of conscience," the attorney says, "I was very much looking forward to continuing our conversation that began with the Friday hearing in Cleveland just before the election."

But, Arnebeck adds, the information that they were able to get from the Republican "IT guru" in that court-ordered deposition, will be useful nonetheless. "Everything we have learned about Mike Connell, including his cooperation in personally attending the motion hearing on Friday, and the deposition on Monday, before the election, gave us information we can build upon."

The transcript of the deposition, however, may still not be made publicly available for some time. During that Friday hearing on Connell's attempt to quash his subpoena to testify, US District Judge Solomon Oliver compelled that the deposition go forward, but required certain material remain sealed.

"The transcript of Mike Connell's deposition is before the court for in camera review," Arnebeck says. "James Ervin, Mr. Connell's trial attorney, has requested that portions of the transcript be sealed on the basis that they discuss trade secrets. If accorded protection by the court on that basis, the protected interest would be held by [Connell's corporation.]"

As to what may have happened to Connell's plane, which a report from a local Cleveland CBS affiliate noted "might [have been] sabotaged," the attorney demured.

"I have a number of opinions," he said, "but more important are the opinions of the experts in this field. There are criminals who are very concerned about our case."

When asked to elucidate on that comment, Arnebeck replied: "We have highly reliable information but it was communicated to me in a way that should be preserved in confidence."

The 19 Action News report noted, without additional detail (video at end of this article), that "twice in the last two months Connell, who is an experienced pilot, cancelled two flights because of suspicious problems with his plane."

Despite the bad news, Arnebeck remains undeterred and seems encouraged by President-elect Barack Obama's nomination of Eric Holder to be the next U.S. Attorney General. "The fact that Rove is leading the effort to derail Obama's AG appointment, suggests that we may be getting the right man to proceed with the necessary work [and] that Justice has already begun to hold Rove accountable."

"We intend to continue to do our job as citizens," Arnebeck concluded, "and very much appreciate your continuing work as a journalist."

NOTE: We will be making a special appearance this evening on the syndicated Peter B. Collins radio show from 5p-6p PT (8p-9p ET) to discuss the death of Connell. Arnebeck is scheduled to join us during that hour.

Ohio TV station: Was Connell crash accident or murder?
« Reply #53 on: December 23, 2008, 12:18:11 PM »
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl51vtElmj8

The death of Republican "IT guru" Mike Connell last Friday in a fiery plane crash has been the subject of intense speculation online about whether it might have been murder -- but very little of that speculation has made it into the national media. Now one local TV station in Connell's home state of Ohio is acknowledging that there are questions about his death.

"Well, this sounds like a made up story," Scott Taylor of 19 Action News in Cleveland began. "One man rigging state elections to help his boss, President George Bush. After it's done, power players in Washington say 'Get rid of the guy.' Do I believe it? No -- for now."

Taylor noted that "bad weather could have played a part in the crash" but "some in Washington have a different opinion."

"Some say Connell was about to reveal embarrassing details involving senior members of the Bush Administration," Taylor explained, "including their involvement in destroying incriminating emails and rigging elections. Connell died on impact, and was only 3 miles from the Akron-Canton Airport. He was an experienced pilot. Was it an accident, or murder?"

Connell had played a central role in two separate Bush administration scandals. He had created the website for the Ohio secretary of state's office which some have linked to suspected election fraud during the 2004 presidential race. He also set up the domains which White House staff used for their off-the-books emails concerning the firing of US Attorneys, emails which are now said to have been destroyed.

In a press release cited by 19 Action News, the website Velvet Revolution revealed that "a person close to Mr. Connell has recently been discussing with a VR investigator how Mr. Connell can tell all about his work for George Bush. Mr. Connell told a close associate that he was afraid that the George Bush and Dick Cheney would 'throw [[him] under the bus.' A tipster close to the McCain campaign disclosed to VR in July that Mr. Connell’s life was in jeopardy and that Karl Rove had threatened him and his wife."

19 Action News also reported on Sunday that Connell had previously been warned by a friend that his plane might be sabotaged and had canceled two flights because of suspicious problems.

BradBlog notes that although the Velvet Revolution press release has appeared on the New York Times website, that paper has not offered any comment of its own on Connell's death, nor have US media in general reported on the growing speculation -- although even the British press has mentioned it -- which makes the Action News coverage all the more striking.

"Was it an accident -- or murder?" Taylor wondered, before concluding that the crash "was probably not a conspiracy."

Transcript from 19 Action News:

What prompted conspiracy theorists in Washington, D.C. to say that an Ohio man with White House connections was actually murdered this weekend?

Here's Scott Taylor to tell us if it's true or not.

Taylor: "Well this sounds like a made up story, one man rigging state elections to help his boss, President George Bush. After it's done, power players in Washington say 'Get rid of the guy.' Do I believe it? No. For now.

45 year-old Michael Connell died Friday night after his plane crashed into this vacant house near Union Township in Stark County, Ohio.

Connell was a political power player in Washington, D.C., and in the White House. He was the vision behind President George Bush's, and John McCain's internet sites.

Initial reports say bad weather could have played a part in the crash.

Hartville resident Mary Lou Lankford: " I guess the plane just flew apart."

Taylor: Some in Washington have a different opinion. The website 'Velvet Revolution' believes someone sabotaged Connell's plane.

It appears he was trying to land the plane here, he hit a large flag pole and then, he struck the house.

Velvet Revolution claims to have been tipped off that Connell's life was in danger. Who was threatening Connell? According to the website, a senior advisor of President George Bush, Karl Rove.

Some say Connell was about to reveal embarrassing details involving senior members of the Bush Administration, including their involvement in destroying incriminating emails, and rigging elections.

Connell died on impact, and was only 3 miles from the Akron-Canton Airport. He was an experienced pilot. Was it an accident, or muder?

Harville resident Ron Lankford: "It's really hard to believe. I really don't know the full story, and I've just heard...and what I've seen in the paper, and on the news."

Taylor: I spoke to Michael's family today in person. They are grieving. A visitation is planned for tonight.

Many in his neighborhood say this was a good man who devoted his time to the worldwide community, and loved his family very much.

19 Action News' investigation concludes that the plane crash that killed GOP operative Mike Connell was probably not a conspiracy.

NYTimes posts, then drops, then posts VR’s press release on Michael Connell

 From Josh Mitteldorf:

Mark-
http://markcrispinmiller.com/2008/12/nytimes-posts-then-drops-then-posts-vrs-press-release-on-connell.html

This is a press release from Velvet Revolution which was pasted into
a NYTimes web page.

It’s not linked to any page of headlines, so the only way to find it
is to know it’s there, or to search specifically for it.

This story appeared Saturday, then it disappeared, then it appeared
again at a slightly different address. It’s in the business section.
My guess is that someone in the business dept wants to get it out,
and someone above him doesn’t want it on the Times page.

That we see it at all in The Times is remarkable.

Bush Insider Who Planned To Tell All Killed In Plane Crash: Non-Profit Demands Full Federal Investigation
Published: December 20, 2008

WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Michael Connell, the Bush IT expert who has been directly implicated in the rigging of George Bush's 2000 and 2004 elections, was killed last night when his single engine plane crashed three miles short of the Akron airport. Velvet Revolution ("VR"), a non-profit that has been investigating Mr. Connell's activities for the past two years, can now reveal that a person close to Mr. Connell has recently been discussing with a VR investigator how he can tell all about his work for George Bush. Mr. Connell told a close associate that he was afraid that George Bush and Dick Cheney would "throw [him] under the bus."

A tipster close to the McCain campaign disclosed to VR in July that Mr. Connell's life was in jeopardy and that Karl Rove had threatened him and his wife, Heather. VR's attorney, Cliff Arnebeck, notified the United States Attorney General , Ohio law enforcement and the federal court about these threats and insisted that Mr. Connell be placed in protective custody. VR also told a close associate of Mr. Connell's not to fly his plane because of another tip that the plane could be sabotaged. Mr. Connell, a very experienced pilot, has had to abandon at least two flights in the past two months because of suspicious problems with his plane. On December 18, 2008, Mr. Connell flew to a small airport outside of Washington DC to meet some people. It was on his return flight the next day that he crashed.

On October 31, Mr. Connell appeared before a federal judge in Ohio after being subpoenaed in a federal lawsuit investigating the rigging of the 2004 election under the direction of Karl Rove. The judge ordered Mr. Connell to testify under oath at a deposition on November 3rd, the day before the presidential election. Velvet Revolution received confidential information that the White House was extremely concerned about Mr. Connell talking about his illegal work for the White House and two Bush/Cheney 04 attorneys were dispatched to represent him.

An associate of Mr. Connell's told VR that Mr. Connell was involved with the destruction of the White House emails and the setting up of the off-grid White House email system.

Mr. Connell handled all of John McCain's computer work in the recent presidential campaign. VR has received direct evidence that the McCain campaign kept abreast of the legal developments against Mr. Connell by reading the VR dedicated website, www.rovecybergate.com.

VR demands that the Ohio Attorney General and the United States Justice Department conduct a complete investigation into the activities of Mr. Connell and determine whether there was any foul play in his death. VR demands that federal law enforcement officials place the following people under protective custody pending this investigation. Heather Connell who

is the owner of GovTech Solutions, Randy Cole, the former President of GovTech Solutions, and Jeff Averbeck, the CEO of SmartTech in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Both GovTech and SmartTech have been implicated in the rigging of the 2000 and 2004 elections and the White House email scandal. Our prior request to have Mr. Connell protected went unheeded and now he is dead.

Republican IT Guru Dies In Plane Crash
By CBS

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/38462

(CBS/AP) Federal investigators are looking into a small plane crash in Ohio which claimed the life of its pilot, a Republican media consultant who was instrumental in the presidential and gubernatorial campaigns of three members of the Bush Family.

Michael Connell,45, of Akron died Friday when his plane crashed near a vacant house in Uniontown while attempting to land at nearby Akron-Canton Airport.

But the fatal accident is also raising questions about Connell and his work for key political figures and lobbyists, which has targeted him in investigations over missing White House e-mails and a lawsuit alleging electronic voting fraud.

Following Last Friday's fatal accident, CBS Affiliate WOIO reported that Connell, who had recently been subpoenaed to testify in relation to a lawsuit alleging vote rigging in the 2004 Ohio election, was warned at least twice about flying his plane because his plane might be sabotaged.

Quoting an anonymous close friend of Connell's, WOIO correspondent Blake Chenault also reported that twice in the past two months Connell, who was an experienced pilot, canceled flights because of suspicious problems with his plane.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the FAA are investigating the crash.

Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Tony Bradshaw said that Connell's plane hit a flagpole two miles from the runway and crashed on the front lawn of a vacant Ohio house. The crash sparked a fire that damaged the house's garage, but no one was inside the Uniontown home.

There were no passengers on the plane, and no one on the ground was injured.

Neighbors told The Canton Repository that they heard what sounded like an engine sputtering before the crash and that the noise sounded like it was coming from a plane.

A Republican Loyalist

(New Media)
Beginning as a political campaign worker and Congressional staffer, Connell became a key Republican media consultant who developed Internet strategies for the 2000 and 2004 Bush-Cheney campaigns. He was founder and CEO of Cleveland-based New Media Communications, which built Web sites for President Bush and former presidential nominee John McCain, according to the company's Web site, and he was the chief IT consultant for Karl Rove.

Connell's ties to the Bush family extend back to working on campaigns for George H.W. Bush and Jeb Bush, for whom he built the campaign site jeb.org. In 1999 he told the Cleveland magazine Inside Business, "I'm loyal to my network, I'm loyal to my friends, and I'm loyal to the Bush family."

He was also quoted as saying, when asked to predict the Internet's role in the upcoming presidential race, "There are things we will be doing on Election Day that haven't even been dreamt of yet."

The rise of the Republican Party in Washington in the '90s, and esepcially after the 200 Election, meant that Connell's network of connections was expanding as well. Having worked with Ohio Congressman Bob Ney and Governor Bob Taft, Connell's IT skills were sought after for the campaigns and Congressional sites for dozens of GOP candidates and officeholders. The New Media Communications Web site (now turned off, with a memorial to Connell in its place) boasted, "New Media's client list reads like a 'Who's Who' of Republican politics."

In 2000 Connell cofounded with his wife Heather GovTech Solutions to pursue government contracts.

GovTech's clients for databases, content management systems and other services included the White House, the Energy Department, several Republican-led Congressional committees and a few dozen congressional members' Web sites.

The Center for Public Integrity reported that in 2002 and 2004, the General Services Administration allowed federal agencies to purchase services directly from GovTech without a full bidding process.

In 2004 Connell helped form an online advertising firm called Connell Donatelli, which administered the Web site for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a 527 developed to attack Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.

Connell's central role in building the IT infrastructure of the White House and his association with Karl Rove has brought him into the controversy surrounding missing White House e-mails relating to the firing of U.S. Attorneys and other topics, and the fate of e-mail communications sent by Rove and other administration staffers which were sent via a Republican Party Web site, gwb43.com, rather than through a whitehouse.gov address.

Connell built the gwb43.com site, which shares mail servers with GovTech.

Connell's Internet expertise also led him to be subpoenaed earlier this year to testify in an Ohio federal court regarding alleged voter fraud in the 2004 election. Despite exit polls showing a lead by Democratic nominee John Kerry of more than 4 percent, Mr. Bush won the state's vote by 2.5 percent, along with its crucial electoral votes.

Much has been written about problems at the polls in Ohio that year, where voters in many (predominantly Democratic) precincts were forced to wait hours because of a shortage of working voting machines. A lawsuit being pursued by attorney Clifford Arneback seeks to answer questions about this and other ballot problems. [For example, in Franklin County Mr. Bush received 4,258 votes in a precinct where only 638 voters cast ballots.]

Questions have also been raised about how votes from Ohio Counties were tabulated. Computer expert Stephen Spoonamore, a Republican who works in detecting fraud in network architecture and protecting computer infrastructures, has testified that the Ohio election returns he saw were indicative of a "KingPin Attack," in which a computer is inserted into the communications flow of an IT system, with the intent to change data as it passes to its destination.

It was later learned that Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell's office had routed Internet traffic from county election offices through out-of-state servers based at SMARTech in Chattanooga, Tenn. SMARTech hosts dozens of GOP Web domains.

Last month, U.S. Judge Soloman Oliver refused Connell's request to quash a subpoena connected to the lawsuit, King Lincoln Bronzeville Neighborhood Association v. Blackwell, and demanded his testimony relating to his IT work.

In his deposition given in November, Connell denied any knowledge of vote rigging.

Since his death Friday, the Internet has buzzed with news about an IT entrepreneur, until now in the background of Republican politics, whose sudden death has sparked conspiracy theories and thrust him into the center of continuing controversies involving White House communications and electronic voting.

Meanwhile, a man the Akron Beacon-Journal recounts as a devout Catholic who organized annual missions to aid communities in El Salvador with as much passion as he devoted to the businesses he built, leaves behind his wife of 18 years and four children.

Thanks, it is an infowar and the lead atty in this case is my neighbor. I am quite worried he will be next. Thanks to everyone for keeping this out there!

Irobot, if possible inquire with your neighbor exactly who we should put pressure on to push for witness protection. I emailed Dennis Kucinich and provided list of dead people associated with Ohio elections and told him we are tired of coverups in Ohio and want truth to prevail in case of Michael Connell and election fraud.

Weather appears clear; 'Ear-witnesses' heard on tape describing sounds leading to crash
UPDATE: Audio interview with OH attorney who recently deposed Connell, asked for his protection from AG, in election fraud case...
I'm not sure what, if any, light this video --- as shot by local eye and ear-witnesses in Akron, OH --- sheds on the plane crash and death of high-ranking GOP IT operative Mike Connell. But, as it may reveal something, to somebody, in the still-unexplained, and surprisingly-timed crash, I suppose it may useful to put it on the record here.

For example, despite scattered reports that bad weather may have contributed to the cause of the crash, the weather seems to have been clear, at least on the ground, at least by the time the witnesses arrived, as seen in the video. Reports of "mist" seem to be belied in the early part of the video, shot through the front window of the car which does not appear to have its windshield wipers on. [UPDATE: RAW STORY also reports weather data during the hour of the crash, noting visibility was clear, and temperatures just above freezing.] Also, several descriptions of what was heard by the "ear-witnesses" as the crash occurred, may be of value as well...

VelvetRevolution.us' Emily Levy, who pointed the footage out to me, wrote: "This is disturbing for a couple of reasons at least. One is just that it shows ten minutes of the fire, in which we now know Connell's body was burning up. The second is that there's no concern expressed for the pilot or any passengers by the guys doing the filming. Near the beginning they refer to it as 'awesome.'"

Of course, as the folks who were video-taping drove to the scene and described the noise as "awesome," they didn't necessarily know what they were going to find when they got there, which was burning wreckage, eventually attended to by the fire department, as also seen in the video. Connell, as the pilot of the small single engine plane, was the only passenger on board.

[UPDATE: A number of readers have noted that the voice on the video says "that was awful," as opposed to "awesome." After several close listens, they do seem to be saying "awful." But it's a tough call. Decide for yourself. It's right at the beginning of the tape.]

Our original story on the crash is here. Our followup post, an exclusive interview with Cliff Arnebeck, the attorney who had subpoenaed Connell as part of a federal election fraud conspiracy case in OH (and had asked for protection for Connell from both the U.S. and OH Attorneys General after tipsters reported threats to Connell by Karl Rove) is here. Both stories offer links to previous BRAD BLOG coverage of the case involving Connell.

NOTE: Arnebeck, whom we also interviewed on last night's Peter B. Collins Show (I'll try to post the audio shortly) is also scheduled to be on this evening's Lou Dobbs' Tonight on CNN to discuss the crash and the Connell case.UPDATE: Here's the audio from last night's PBC Show. I've broken it into two halves to make it easier to download/listen. Of most note, at least to me, were the comments from Arnebeck (which RAW STORY's Larisa Alexandrovna, who joined us in the first part of the hour, also referred to when she was on) about Connell's attorneys being unwilling to confirm or deny the reports of threats to Connell by Karl Rove, but their insistence on any questions about such threats being sealed in the deposition that he was compelled by a federal judge to give on 11/3/08. I tried to press Arnbeck on that point as much as I could, and on the possibilities of unsealing that portion of the depo, now that Connell is dead, near the end of the interview...

http://www.atlargely.com/2008/12/connell-update-preliminary-interagency-report-and-more-questions.html#comments
Connell update - preliminary inter-agency report and more questions...
In short:
-Not medical
-Not weather
-Not running out of gas (which the investigation had first suspected, but has now ruled out - it is not mentioned below, however)

Here is a good story on it(emphasis mine):

Connell was attempting a landing on Runway 23 at the Akron-Canton Airport, but his plane crashed about three miles short of his destination. Troopers with the Highway Patrol’s Canton post said the plane made a forced landing, hit a flagpole and rolled several times.

<snip>

NTSB investigator Mitch Gallo examined wreckage and talked with witnesses on Tuesday, agency spokeswoman Bridget Serchak said on Wednesday. The agency still needs information from the air traffic controller, weather details and a radar study, she said.

So far the investigation shows that the plane had no issues with flight control and there was no icing, Serchak said. The plane’s propeller had damage that indicates the engine was operating when the crash occurred.

A preliminary report should be filed within 10 working days, Serchak said. NTSB has one year to complete it’s factual report and the NTSB board will vote on a probable cause ruling for the accident shortly after the report is filed.

Data collected by the Highway Patrol was being completed Wednesday for the NTSB, a spokesman for the Canton post said. While the Highway Patrol collects information about airplane crashes, it doesn’t determine cause of the crashes, the spokesman said.

The Stark County Coroner’s office has given samples collected in an autopsy of Connell to FAA laboratories, a spokeswoman for Dr. P.S. Murthy said. The agency supplies a kit listing samples to be collected, the spokeswoman said.

Indications are Connell died from massive traumatic injuries. Although the wreckage burned following the crash, Connell’s body wasn’t burned, the spokeswoman said.

There are no indications that Connell suffered from any medical problems, the spokeswoman said.

Now can someone who is is a pilot explain a few things to me here. I am trying to understand the verbiage and elements of your profession:

1. If there were no "issues with flight control" do they mean avionics?

2. So given that everything else was ruled out, the only thing left is mechanical, am I right? Am I wrong and missing an important genre?

3. Is there anything else that is not covered under mechanical, avionics, health, and weather (he was not a drug user from what I have been told, so for now at least, let's leave it off the table of considerations) that would explain that his plane went down three miles from landing (I know he was on instruments now, rather than line of sight), with a working engine?

4. Is the propeller mentioned only as indicative of the engine working or is it being broken something to consider as an actual cause for the accident?

And some questions in general:

1. Does "indications are Connell died from massive traumatic injuries. Although the wreckage burned following the crash, Connell’s body wasn’t burned" mean he was was thrown from the plane as soon as the plane went down?

2. And finally, this just occurred to me tonight. Connell knew the Bush family very well. He knew members of Congress very well. He has been a staple of the GOP IT scene for ages. He even worked on the McCain camp. So what is wrong with this sorry lot of people, that not a single one of them issued a public condolence to this man? Not even the head of the RNC for crying out loud. Connell has worked with the RNC for years. He has worked with the Chamber of Commerce for years. He was friends with and knew very important people. He dies a few days before Christmas, leaving 4 kids and a widow behind and NOT ONE person could find the time to issue a public condolences to his family?

The President has time to pardon turkeys and pardon criminals, but not to issue even a single sentence of condolence to a man he has known for years? Rove? Where is he at? John McCain? Anyone? I don't understand how no one thought to issue a statement of support for the family, especially since a father of four won't be there for Christmas?

A coincidence?????????

PLEASE. Mr. Rove is under indictment, is that true or false.

Yet he walks around with his heavily armed entorage of shitheads for money.

Small planes are famous for having accidents, all it takes is one visit and 10 minutes from an experienced sabatour and the plane and passengers are doomed.

I watched a Utube of this man being foll0owed by truthers, questioned, and ridicled. They ( Rove and his Bookends)avoided them as though they did not  exist, no questions were answered and no remarks were made.

The only signal given by Rove was after he entered his limo, he smiled in victory and wiggled his fingers at the the truthers, as though to say, F**¨k you pissants, peon, commoner peices of shiite. I will never forget that moment trapped on celuloid.

My oppinion, of course he and his leaders had him killed, this group is oragnized, who can blow the whistle will get wacked, or is that difficult to understand. They have been doing this for decades.

Death of Republican computer strategist Michael Connell spurs conspiracy theories
Posted by Amanda Garrett/Plain Dealer Reporter December 28, 2008 00:10AM
Categories: Real Time News

UPDATED at 12:35 a.m.

It sounds like the plot of a John Grisham thriller.

A self-made computer geek in Ohio uses his Internet savvy to help one of the most powerful Republican dynasties in U.S. history keep its grip on the White House even as voters turn against the family and its support for an unpopular war.

Political enemies later of theclaim the computer expert helped the GOP steal a presidential election through widespread technological subterfuge that threatens American democracy.

Before the matter is resolved, the geek dies alone in a plane crash, sending conspiracy theorists reeling about what secrets he may have taken to his grave.

No author penned this mystery.

It's a real tale of intrigue, slowly unfolding in court records and on left-leaning blogs since President George W. Bush won Ohio, securing a second term in 2004.

Few news outlets covered allegations of conspiracy until Dec. 19, when the geek, Richfield businessman Michael Connell, 45, crashed his Piper Supercub on his approach to Akron-Canton Airport.

Now, nine days after the crash, there are more questions than answers. The only thing certain about this tale is its unhappy ending.

Connell once told a Plain Dealer reporter that the political bug bit him in 1984 when he was studying marketing at the University of Iowa. Over the next decade, the Illinois native bounced to various government jobs and worked on the campaigns of at least two Republican congressmen.

He married, and in January 1993, he and his wife, Heather, moved to Ohio and took root. Michael Connell signed on as press secretary for Republican Martin Hoke, then a congressman from Cleveland. The following year, the Connells launched an Internet consulting company in their basement. They called it New Media Communications. It was a cutting-edge concept in 1994.

Selling Web sites was tough. In 1996, they declared bankruptcy.

But two years later, in 1998, Michael Connell caught a break that would forever change his life -- Jeb Bush hired him as his Internet strategist during his campaign for Florida governor.

Several years before, Connell had worked on projects for George H.W. Bush, then president. But it was vastly different from using the Web to ignite Jeb Bush's political career.

The same year, Connell also ran Bob Taft's Web site during his bid for Ohio governor. Both won.

And a GOP geek star was born.

By 2000, the Connells' modest basement business had blossomed to a $3 million powerhouse with 38 employees.

And when the heir to George Herbert Walker Bush's legacy -- then- exas Gov. George W. Bush -- launched a presidential bid, Bush's advisers tapped Connell to redesign his Web site.

But what worked online for Jeb Bush in 1998 wouldn't work for George W. in 2000. Internet years, Connell once observed, pass like dog years: One year on the Internet is like seven in ordinary years, he said.

It took Connell's company 45 days to make George W.'s site easy to use, Connell said. Connell used the Internet not only to get out George W.'s message, but also to find volunteers and raise money from new constituent groups.

Again, it was a historically close election with counts and recounts. Democrat Al Gore ultimately conceded Dec. 13 and another Bush was elected -- thanks in part to Connell and his company.

With such high-profile victories, New Media Communications' prowess grew. Its client list included the National Rifle Association, Microsoft Corp. and Republican parties in a half-dozen states.

By the time George W.'s re-election rolled around in 2004, the Internet was as common to people as microwave ovens.

Connell's New Media Communications helped manage nearly 7 million e-mail addresses of Republican faithful. Bush won again and it was another squeaker.

Bush ultimately won Ohio by about 118,000 votes, but some didn't believe it. There were allegations of election fraud and in 2006, several groups representing black and college-age voters filed a federal lawsuit accusing former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell and others of conspiring to undermine their voting rights.

Connell was soon accused of using his computer savvy to help Bush loyalists rig the 2004 election. The lawsuit, filed by some of Bush's harshest critics, garnered little attention as it moved through federal court.

Among other things, it contends that some of the Ohio election results were rerouted to a computer system set up by one of Connell's spinoff companies in Tennessee on election night, opening the results up to manipulation.

The same Tennessee computer system, the lawsuit claims, was used to shield White House e-mails during probes into the 2005 firings of several federal prosecutors who disagreed with Bush politics.

In September, Connell received a subpoena to testify in the case. Connell fought it, saying among other things that his testimony could reveal trade secrets that would hurt his companies.

But a judge ordered Connell to testify, which he did in November in a closed-door session.

One of the attorneys who questioned Connell that day told a McClatchy-Tribune reporter that Connell testified that he knew of no GOP effort to rig the election.

It is unclear whether Connell's testimony was supposed to continue.

It was a clear evening sky when Connell took off from an airport in suburban Washington, D.C., on Dec. 19 to fly home. But as he approached Akron-Canton Airport, clouds rolled in and visibility plummeted. Connell crashed about three miles from the runway.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are still investigating.

Yet left-leaning blogs immediately began questioning whether Connell's plane had been tampered with to prevent him from implicating Republican strategist Karl Rove in criminal wrongdoing.

A local TV news report fueled speculation, citing an anonymous source who said Connell had twice canceled flights in recent months after warnings that someone had tampered with his plane.

Numerous blogs have also reported that Columbus attorney Cliff Arnebeck -- who filed the lawsuit -- this summer received a tip that Connell's life was in danger and that Rove had threatened Connell and his wife, Heather. Arnebeck did not return a call Saturday.

One of Connell's attorneys did nothing to halt the rumors. He declined to comment Saturday on the TV news report or to answer questions about the litigation.

The attorney instead referred to a brief statement that Connell's family posted on its business Web site, technomania.com.

The statement, posted Monday calls Connell's death "a terrible tragedy for his family, our community and our country."

It talks about Connell's faith, family and work to help the poor around the world and describes him as "an engaged citizen, who was actively involved at all levels of our political system."

Do they suspect foul play? The statement doesn't say. The family want to be left alone. It's a mystery with an unhappy ending.

Did Lame Congress Enable Connell Murder?
Submitted by Chip on Sun, 2008-12-28 20:44. Criminal Prosecution Evidence
Did Lame Congress Enable Connell Murder?
By Ralph Lopez | War On You

Condolences to Mr. Connell’s family on this holiday season.

In many other countries this is kind of coincidence would have people spilling into the streets. The hotly disputed Ohio 2004 election count is what swung the election toward Bush, thus sealing our image in the world as fearful, hate-filled warmongers. 2000 came under the category “stuff happens.” In 2004 the world saw us actually re-elect this monster.

There is really no question that Mike Connell’s death has a smell of foul play that is apparent to anyone but the most Panglossian airhead. The fact alone that an experienced pilot’s death came just before he was to explain, under oath, what appears to have been the rigging of the 2004 Ohio vote. But when you figure in that the plaintiffs’ lead attorney in King Lincoln vs. Blackwell, Cliff Arnebeck, wrote a letter to Attorney General Mike Mukasey “seeking protection for Mr. Connell and his family from this reported attempt to intimidate a witness,” well the smell gets worse than a week-old mackerel in the bedroom closet in the summertime. The letter said Rove warned Connell to “take the fall.” And it doesn’t stop there.

Ohio’s CBS affiliate Action News 19 reported that Connell had been warned a couple of times not to fly. He had cancelled flight plans twice before. They have backed off from the report - gee, what Brown Shirt could have promised a nice weenie roast at the station, over a big bonfire?

Then you have motive. As Harvey Wasserman, the “conspiracy nut” who appears on Today, Nightline, National Public Radio, CNN Lou Dobbs Tonight wrote:

At 12:20 am on the night of the 2004 election exit polls and initial vote counts showed John Kerry the clear winner of Ohio’s presidential campaign. The Buckeye State’s 20 electoral votes would have given Kerry the presidency.

But from then until around 2am, the flow of information mysteriously ceased. After that, the vote count shifted dramatically to George W. Bush, ultimately giving him a second term. In the end there was a 6.7 percent diversion—in Bush’s favor—between highly professional, nationally funded exit polls and the final official vote count as tabulated by Blackwell and Connell.

Mark Crispin Miller was saying a full two months ago, on Democracy Now, just after the judge ordered Connell to testify:

Yeah, this event in a courtroom in Columbus may be one of the most important things to happen in this whole election and may be one of the most important things to happen in American history. I mean, this sounds hyperbolic, I know, but it is true.

Mike Connell is-has been named as Karl Rove’s computer guru since 2000. The lawyers in the case refer to Connell as a high-IQ Forrest Gump, because he’s been on the scene of every dubious election we’ve had over the last eight years, starting with Florida 2000.

As a result of Ohio’s 20 electoral votes going to Bush in 2004, the administration was able to complete its destruction of the Constitution, break the law countless more times, and keep spending the kind of money in Iraq which would pay for a couple of $700 billion bailouts at no further cost to us.

Hey, this is what happens when you have a congress that starts out its term by putting “impeachment off the table.” By never, ever, ever holding these people accountable, they start to think they can get away with anything. I venture that Connell might still be alive had a good, let’s-just-set-a-couple-of-things-straight impeachment hearing been held at some point, win or lose, over vote-rigging, an open admission of having authorized torture, the kidnap and torture of an American citizen, Jose Padilla, under a laughable theory of wartime powers that last forever, illegal NSA spying, betrayal of a covert American agent…can we blame them for thinking they can get away with anything? And this too.

The Republic disintegrates before our eyes. But it’s ok, Obama is elected, and this will be all forgotten in a few weeks, when, despite toothless talk about prosecution, all these people will skeedaddle into parts unknown with pardons in their pockets. They are only within reach right now.

Don’t worry, be happy.

There have always been mysterious deaths in politics, but usually it’s before the dots get too easy to connect. This is different. This was in broad daylight, with everyone watching, and the killers not caring one little bit. Wow. I mean really, wow.

Why aren’t Conyers, Kucinich, and Obama calling for congressional investigation? This was no ordinary court case, and a mighty convenient time to have a Wellstone. Conyers and Kucinich were named as recipients of the plea for some kind of protection. They were informed of the threats because the first thing you do if you are afraid something like this might happen to you is tell people who are high-profile, because you feel it might protect you. You’d feel that now they can’t touch you, or there would be a measure of justice if they do.

Conyers: 202-225-5126 Kucinich: (202) 225-5871 Obama: (202) 224-2854

whistleblower Michael Connell declared emergency before fatal crash

Michael Connell declared emergency before fatal crash

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Connell_declared_emergency_before_fatal_crash_1230.html

Republican IT consultant Michael Connell, who was killed on December 19 when his Piper Saratoga crashed near the Akron-Canton Airport, had declared an emergency shortly before losing contact with air traffic control.

According to a preliminary incident report filed by the safety division of the Federal Aviation Administration on December 22, "The plane was on ILS (Instrument Landing System) approach to runway 23. Tower noted plane left of course. Tower directed plane to climb and maintain 3000 feet and didn’t comply. When advised to climb a second time, the pilot declared an emergency and was lost from radar shortly thereafter."

The National Transportation Safety Board has now posted a more complete report, but one which still leaves unresolved both the exact nature of Connell's emergency and the cause of the crash.

According to the NTSB, Connell initially contacted air traffic control (ATC) at the Akron-Canton Airport to ask whether there were any reports of icing and was told there were none. His approach was then uneventful until ATC noted that he was left of his course and asked if he would like to be resequenced. Connell replied "correcting." ATC then advised him again that he was "well left of the localizer" and Connell responded that he would "like to correct."

The report continued, "N9299N [Connell's plane] was about 2 ½ miles from the airport when it then transmitted if it could execute a 360-degree turn. ATC then instructed N9299N to climb and maintain 3,000 feet and queried N9299N’s present heading. N9299N transmitted, 'heading due north and climbing.' N9299N then declared an emergency."

NTSB spokesperson Bridget Serchak told RAW STORY on Monday that she had spoken with Senior Air Safety Investigator Mitchell Gallo, the NTSB investigator on the case, and could confirm that "the pilot asked for assistance landing."

When reached by RAW STORY on Tuesday, Gallo, who had reviewed a tape of the full radio exchange, explained that the Connell had not elaborated when declaring the emergency. "He didn't describe the nature of it," Gallo stated, "but then following that ... I don't remember what the actual verbiage was ... you'd have to again refer to the actual report."

The NTSB report further cites an eyewitness who "was outside of his home when he first heard a 'loud' engine sound from a small aircraft. The sound was coming from the north and sounded as though the pilot was trying to accelerate 'rapidly.' Suddenly, the witness saw two bright lights coming almost nose first toward the ground with the engine 'roaring.' Based upon the witness’ view of the lights, he assumed the airplane was flying west to east. He lost sight of the airplane when it descended below a tree line."

The eyewitness, who wishes to remain anonymous, has spoken with Raw Story and provided a copy of the statement which he wrote up immediately following the crash. (See image below)

According to the witness's statement, when the plane vanished from his sight, "I was certain it was going to crash and was actually waiting for the sound. However, once again there was a tremendous roar of the engine and I thought it was just the pilot doing a stunt over their house. It was almost instantly after I once again heard the engine that I heard the thud as it hit the ground. Approximately 1 second later, the sky became orange and there was no doubt what had happened."

Connell was the founder of New Media Communications, which created official websites for the Republican National Committee and the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign that provided the email accounts used by White House aides involved in the US Attorney scandal.

New Media also spun off GovTech, under Connell's wife's name, which was hired by Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to set up an official state election website that presented the 2004 presidential returns as they were received. This site has been of particular interest to some who suspect possible election fraud in Ohio during the 2004 presidential election, and Connell's testimony was recently sought in a case alleging fraud.

Pilot in fatal Lake Township crash was warned he was off course

http://www.cantonrep.com/communities/hartville/x1277301975/Pilot-in-fatal-Lake-Township-crash-was-warned-he-was-off-course

The pilot of a small plane that crashed in Lake Township on Dec. 19 was warned he was off course prior to the crash, according to a preliminary report filed today by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Michael L. Connell, 45, of Bath Township, died in the crash at about 6 p.m. outside a vacant house at 2017 Charolais St. NW. He was the only person aboard the Piper Saratoga he was piloting.

Connell was trying to land on Runway 23 at the Akron-Canton Airport, but his plane crashed about two miles short of his destination.

According to the report filed today, Connell was told by air traffic controllers at Akron-Canton that he was “left of course” as he made his approach.

Connell told controllers he planned to correct the problem and wanted to make a 360-degree turn, the report said. Controllers told Connell to climb and maintain altitude of 3,000 feet, then asked for his heading. Connell responded he was due north and climbing, then declared an emergency, the report states.

NTSB requires a preliminary report on a crash to be filed within 10 days of the incident. Agency investigators have a year to complete a final report on the crash. Safety Board members then review the report.

A Web site designer and behind-the-scenes player in the Republican Party, Connell was returning to Northeast Ohio after a business trip in Washington, D.C. According to the report, he left College Park Airport in College Park, Md., at about 3:30 p.m. that day.

Killing hope: cover up of the 2004 election
by Pete Johnson
January 3, 2009

Any hope of prosecuting the perpetrators of the stolen 2004 presidential election ended when Mike Connell died Dec 19 in a plane crash. As reported in Raw Story Connell is a long-time GOP operative, whose New Media Communications provided web services for the Bush-Cheney 04 campaign, the US Chamber of Commerce, the Republican National Committee and many Republican candidates.

One day before the 2008 presidential election, Attorneys Cliff Arnebeck and Bob Fitrakis, working on the King-Lincoln Bronzeville v. Blackwell lawsuit, deposed Connell regarding the role of Connell's company New Media Communications in collaboration with SMARTtech and Triad in Ohio's 2004 election. After the 2004 presidential election, a movement of election rights activists concluded that the election had been stolen. Exit polls, designed to be accurate within 1 percent, were off 8.8 percent in Ohio, which was a consistent pattern in swing states. Steve Freeman's book Was the 2004 Presidential Election Stolen explains in great detail the anomalies in the election results, and why the exit polls were accurate. The exit poll discrepancy was the red flag indicating a fraudulent election, but the mainstream media looked the other way and sought to discredit the exit polls.

The numerical evidence in combination with a serious distrust of electronic voting fueled a vigorous election reform movement. But the method used to steal the election remained a mystery. Although citizen activists immersed in the subject were and are very much opposed to electronic touch screen voting, many of the problematic counties voted on punch card systems. How did the results change between 11 PM and 1 AM on the night of the election?

On a cold and wet election day 2004, thousands of voters were disenfranchised by lines 4 to 10 hours long. Prior to election day, low income and black voters were selectively purged from the roles. Voting machines switched votes from Kerry to Bush in Mahoning County. Impossible voter turnouts were recorded in several precincts. Entire inner city precincts in Cleveland voted for third party candidates due to ballot design or intentional malfeasance. However, none of this was enough to swing the vote. Electronic theft at the tabulation level was required to secure the presidency for George W. Bush.

Many American's are only vaguely aware that John Kerry would have won a fair election in Ohio. Officially, George Bush won the election by 118,601 votes in Ohio. Ohio was the key swing state that determined the results of the national election.

Few Americans know Mike Connell or Stephen Spoonamore. Spoonamore is a recognized expert in the field of data security and digital network architecture. Early this summer, Republican cyber-expert Spoonamore submitted an affidavit in the King- Lincoln federal court case. Spoonamore designed or consulted for MasterCard, American Express, Chubb insurance, Bloomberg, Boeing, NBC-GE, NewsCorp, the US Department of Energy, The US Navy, The US Department of State and other government agencies according to the affidavit filed in federal court.

Mr. Spoonamore testified that the vote tabulation system....allowed the introduction of a single computer between computer A and computer B. This is called a man in the middle attack. According to Spoonamore, This centralized collection of all incoming statewide tabulations would make it easy for a single operator, or a preprogrammed force balancing computer to change the results in any way desired by the team controlling the Computer C. Spoonamore's complete testimony describes his relationship with and knowledge of Connell, the computer expert who built system servers which served the Republican National Committee, and Karl Rove. For the complete testimony of Steve Spoonamore: http://www.securitypronews.com/ insiderreports/ insider/ spn-49-20080930 Security ExpertWarnsOf RiggedElection.html

Now recall that on election day 2004, when candidates normally pace nervously while awaiting a long night watching election returns, George W Bush and Karl Rove boarded Air Force One for an unscheduled visit to Columbus Ohio. Kerry supporters working in downtown Columbus recognized that this was a scary development. What to make of it? The Dispatch reported that the President and Rove came to Columbus to encourage the folks working the call center, and indeed Bush did tour the call center. Rove and Bush met with Republican Secretary of State Ken Blackwell. Blackwell controlled Computer B in the scenario described by Spoonamore, in addition to serving as the co-chair of the Bush/Cheney campaign while also serving as the chief election officer as Secretary of State. Also, the Free Press has learned that Connell reportedly sent the Ohio Secretary of State's Chief IT officer Bob Magnan home at 9PM on election night, leaving partisan private contractors in charge of the state's official election count.

But why did Bush/Rove really make an unscheduled visit to Columbus? We may never know, but consider this scenario. Bush/Rove realized that Bush would loose Ohio, but by a small margin. The infrastructure was set up to steal the election. So Rove called Ken Blackwell to inform him that his people were prepared to pull the trigger at the tabulation level. Ken Blackwell, concerned about a long prison sentence, balked. Possibly Blackwell asked for the visit to Columbus, more likely Rove insisted upon it in order to pressure or reassure Blackwell. In either case, the unscheduled visit put Rove and Bush at the scene of the crime. Via tape recorded conversations or simply by making notes of the meeting, Blackwell had ensured that he would have cover at the highest levels.

It appears that Connell's IT apparatus, using the methods described in Spoonamore's affidavit, focused on the three southwestern counties of Warren, Belmont, and Clermont. Bush's total margin of victory was achieved through these three counties. As first reported in the Free Press, additional analysis by Richard Hayes Phillips documented that votes were switched in these three counties as well as Auglaize, Brown, Darke, Highland, Mercer, Miami, Putnam, Shelby, Van Wert, and Delaware Counties.

One of the favorite methods of explaining away a conspiracy is to offer that, if it were a conspiracy, someone would talk. Students of the JFK assassination know well the trail of twenty or more dead bodies of people with knowledge of that history changing event.

One day before the 2008 Presidential election, Attorneys Cliff Arnebeck and Bob Fitrakis deposed Mr. Mike Connell. For all practical purposes, Connell refused to answer. However, reporter Larisa Alexandrovna reports that Mr. Connell was a source, that he may have been willing to talk. It is certain that he was threatened, as witness protection was requested from the US Attorney General and Ohio Attorney General via the attorneys.Connell was concerned that the White House would throw him under the bus, according to a credible source. Both Connell and Spoonamore approached the House Judiciary Committee about testifying regarding the 2004 election.

The alternative media group ePluribus Media discovered in November 2006 that election.sos.state.oh.us was hosted on the servers of a company in Chattanooga, TN called SmarTech, which also provided hosting for a long list of Republican Internet domains. Also Connell's IT work in Ohio during the 2004 election involved bringing in SMARTtech and Triad to run the state's vote count. Connell's involvement in creating Ohios official state election website, in combination with his other partisan activities, raises questions in and of itself. Connell was involved in Karl Rove's missing emails which would clarify Rove's involvement in the Justice Department firing of eight Federal District Attorneys. In addition Connell was involved in the political prosecution of Alabama Governor Don Siegleman, as well as hosting the website for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Possibly Connell was not a conspiracy realist. Maybe he had not studied the recent plane crash deaths of Senator Paul Wellstone, Senator Mel Callihan and John F. Kennedy Jr. He may have not have been aware of other political assassination by plane crash in Mexico, Rawanda, Ecuador and Panama. But he did cancel two flights in the past two months due to suspicious problems with his plane.

Initial crash reports speculated on poor weather. Another claimed wrongly that he ran out of gas, despite the explosion on impact. Further investigation revealed that Connell had declared an emergency as he approached the airport for a second time, evidently being unable to make a course correction when notified by the tower that he was left of course. An eyewitness stated that Connell was flying down towards the ground. Records from the air traffic controllers document that they instructed him to climb up to 3000 feet.

If a conspiracy existed to steal the 2004 presidential election by intercepting the votes as they were transmitted from the county Boards of Election to the Ohio Secretary of State, someone would have talked. Unless of course, that someone was dead. Chances are good that Connell saved electronic data to protect himself. The question is, does Connell have friends who are courageous enough to see that justice is done on his behalf?

In all likelihood, Connell's death moved the 2004 stolen election from being a solvable case, proved beyond a reasonable doubt to the general public, into a different category. Now it will become another of history's mysteries, along with the political assassinations of the 1960's, the October Surprise, the Iran Contra scandal, and so many other events.

To paraphrase author Martin Schotz, the public will be allowed to believe that the 2004 Presidential Election was stolen, but we will not be allowed to know it. Because knowing it would mean that we have the responsibility to do something about it.

There is a LONG history of plane crashes being used as a method to eliminate political enemies of the military-industrial-intelligence-arms-drugs-mafia networks.  There was the Watergate era plane crash that killed Dorothy Hunt, the vanished plane that held Boggs and Begich in Alaska, JFK Jr. in the late 90's, Pan Am over Lockerbie which killed a CIA whistleblower and several others.  FAA and NSTB can usually be induced to render a politically acceptable verdict, as they did in the TWA 800 "no missile here" case.

here comes the BS:

Conspiracy Theory Appears Less Likely in Fatal Crash

By Mark Phelps
1/9/2009

When one of Republican strategist Karl Rove's top IT operatives dies while flying his personal single-engine aircraft, it's not hard to imagine that eyebrows will be raised among conspiracy theorists. But the preliminary NTSB report on the crash that took the life of pilot and sole occupant Michael Connell tends to point in a more familiar direction. According to the board's investigation so far, Connell received his pilot certificate in 2006, had earned his instrument rating and had logged a total of 510 hours at the time of the December 19 accident. His Piper Turbo Saratoga was on an instrument flight plan to Akron-Canton (Ohio) Airport and had received radar vectors to the localizer for an ILS Runway 23 Approach. When advised he was left of course, Connell replied that he was correcting. After he was observed to be "well left of the localizer," Connell was asked if he'd like to resequence, but responded that he'd prefer to "correct" and asked for a 360-degree turn to re-intercept the localizer. Weather was deteriorating at the time, with the visibility dropping and the ceiling lowering. As he executed the turn, Connell declared an emergency and subsequently crashed. NTSB investigators who examined the wreckage report there were no apparent anomalies with the control system and the engine appeared to have been developing power on impact. Stimulating conspiracy theories was the fact that Connell was Rove's chief IT consultant during the 2004 presidential election. At the time of his death, Connell had been subpoenaed to testify regarding accusations of voter fraud in Ohio during that election.

New information sheds more light on GOP IT guru's tragic death

New information surrounding the December plane crash which killed GOP internet consultant Michael Connell casts doubt on some of the rumors and speculation surrounding his death but doesn't close the books on the circumstances surrounding the Republican technology star's tragic end.

Michael Connell, a high-level IT guru for the Republican National Committee and the US Chamber of Commerce, died Dec. 19, 2008 at 5:53 PM ET when his airplane crashed near Ohio’s Akron-Canton airport.

Although there has been speculation in the media about the possibility of sabotage in Connell death, authorities do not suspect foul play. The official investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has not yet determined the cause of the crash; their final report is required to be produced within a year.

Connell’s ten year-old, seven-passenger, single engine Piper Saratoga II crashed into an empty house on Charolais Street in Lake Township, Ohio. The plane’s right wing clipped a flagpole in the front yard before it broke up, set fire to the garage, and tumbled some 50–60 feet along the ground toward the back yard of a neighboring home.

Connell was thrown from the burning plane and killed instantaneously by massive blunt force trauma, according to the Stark County coroner's report. Although the body was not burned, fingerprints were required to confirm identity, according to Captain Lorin Geisner of the Greentown Fire Department.

According to Geisner, Connell’s personal items recovered from the crash site included a passport, a driver's license, a rosary and a laptop computer. The coroner's office confirmed that these were among a longer list of personal effects collected by the authorities.

The Greentown Fire Department was alerted at 5:54 PM, just one minute after the crash, following 911 calls by area witnesses to central dispatch. At 5:58, according to Geisner, fire department units arrived on scene and suppressed both the garage and plane fires within several minutes.

Connell’s case has drawn particular attention because he had recently testified in a case alleging that Ohio’s votes were tampered with during the 2004 presidential election. However, Connell – who was compelled to testify – denied the allegations in his Nov. 3, 2008 deposition.

Connell is also alleged to have been involved with the scrubbing of emails from White House staff which had been sent through an alternate system hosted on Republican National Committee servers.
Information "Lockdown" – Details Withheld from Fire Department
Capt. Geisner expressed considerable frustration during several Raw Story interviews over what he alleges was the withholding of critical details by authorities.

"While en route to the fire, I asked dispatch to learn the size of the plane and the number of souls on board," Geisner explained. “This was not provided us."

Such details allow fire department officials to determine whether additional equipment is needed and if a wider search and rescue is required. Within fifteen minutes of the crash, after officials from Akron-Canton Airport had arrived on the scene, Geisner again sought to confirm the number of passengers.

"After calls were made I was told that the ATC [Air Traffic Control] was 'all in lockdown,' and that they said 'we can't release that information,'" Geisner said.

Todd Laps, Fire Chief of the Akron-Canton airport fire department and a liaison to the Transportation Security Administration and the Air Traffic Control, echoed Geisner’s account.

"I had some phone calls placed to see if I could get that number [of people on board]. It didn't come in a timely enough fashion," Laps said.

But Laps says that the words “lock down” were not used. When asked to clarify his earlier comments, Gaisner insisted that the words “lock down” had been used in reference to information.

"That info was not available," Gaisner said. “It was secured -- not given out -- locked down."

The North Canton Post of the State Highway Patrol received a call from the 911 call center at 6:04 PM EST.

According to the incident report prepared by the state highway patrol and examined by Raw Story on site, Sgt. Leo Shirkey was the first law enforcement officer on the scene at 6:22. Off duty Post Commander Lt. Eric Sheppard and Trooper McCarthy, a plain-clothed investigator from the Canton Post, arrived within an hour.

The incident report lists the Stark County Examiner Harry Campbell as arriving at 7:03 PM to collect the body.

Not mentioned in the report is the role of two members of the local Civil Air Patrol squadron. According to Lt. Sheppard and Captain Geisner, the Air Patrol was tasked to help locate and turn off the Emergency Locating Transmitter (ELT), which was still transmitting from the partially intact tail of the plane.

An FAA Aviation Safety Inspector arrived at the scene several hours later, and a clean up crew worked through the night to prepare the plane for transport and storage.
Connell on Re-Approach
According to a preliminary report authored by NTSB investigator Mitchell Gallo, Connell drifted left of course during a radio-vectored instrument approach to an Akron-Canton runway and air traffic controllers began to direct a re-approach. Before Connell could affect the re-approach, he declared an emergency and disappeared off radar.

The Akron-Canton Air Traffic Control declined to comment.

Gallo, however, told Raw Story that the declaration of emergency was not Connell's final words. He would not elaborate but said that Connell did not describe the nature of the emergency.

Neither the radar data nor tapes of the radio transmissions have been released by the authorities to the general public or the media.

The only known eyewitness to the crash spoke to the Ohio State Highway Patrol but wished to remain unnamed in press accounts. This witness told Raw Story in December that he heard a very loud small plane engine seconds before seeing the lights of the plane emerge from the clouds heading nearly straight down.

"When the lights disappeared and the engine stopped I anticipated a crash but a couple of seconds went by before I heard the engine again, enough time for me to think, 'he's pulled up,'" the witness said. Moments later he heard the crash and saw an orange glow some distance from where he'd last seen the lights of the rapidly descending plane.

On Dec. 20, the plane wreckage was moved by Belden Village Towing to a hangar owned by Summit Aviation at Akron-Fulton International, a non-commercial airport which houses a large Lockheed Martin facility. The State Highway Patrol said that hangar space at nearby Akron-Canton Regional Airport was not available.

Raw Story visited Summit Aviation Dec. 24 and located the wreckage, which was being held in a building without gated security or security camera surveillance. NTSB officials had examined the wreckage the day before. Last week, Summit Aviation said that Connell's insurance company had arranged for the transport of the plane to another longer term facility.

Allegations Relating to two Previous Flights
Since Connell’s tragic death, much confusion has resulted in speculation and erroneous reporting relating to two previously aborted flights.

On Dec. 21, for example, Channel 19, a local CBS affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio reported that an anonymous source had warned Connell not to fly and that two separate flights had been canceled

"Connell," the reporter said, "was apparently told by a close friend not to fly his plane because his plane might be sabotaged. ... And twice in the last two months, Connell, who is an experienced pilot, canceled two flights because of suspicious problems with his plane."

The friend to whom this statement was attributed has not been identified. Raw Story has not been able to independently confirm that Connell had been warned specifically not to fly.

It’s also unclear if the reference to Connell canceling "two flights because of suspicious problems with his plane" was confused with one actual aborted flight and a second flight suspected to have been aborted, or if these cancellations are in addition to the those two flights.
One Aborted Flight Confirmed
On Sept. 18, 2008, just a day before a stay was lifted in the King Lincoln Bronzeville Neighborhood Association v. Blackwell case - which alleged vote tampering in Ohio during the 2004 election - Connell embarked on a flight from the Akron-Canton airport. According to flight data obtained by Raw Story, he was heading to the College Park, MD airport, which he often used when attending meetings and functions in DC.

Connell’s trip lasted only 23 minutes before he turned around and returned to the Akron-Canton airport. (See flight data below):

King Lincoln Bronzeville
On Sept. 22, Connell was subpoenaed to testify in the King Lincoln Bronzeville case.

During a Sept. 25, 2008 meeting with Connell’s wife Heather near their home in Akron, Ohio, Ms. Connell explained to this reporter that her husband had aborted his Sept. 18 flight "due to engine trouble." Ms. Connell also stated that her husband "then took a commercial flight instead" to make "his DC meeting." She did not know with whom he was meeting in Washington.

Raw Story met with Ms. Connell several months prior to Connell’s death as part of another, but related investigation.

Neither Ms. Connell, nor anyone else close to her husband interviewed at that time, claimed that any tampering was involved or expressed suspicions about this flight. However, if Connell himself was suspicious, he might not have shared those suspicions with his wife.

Connell had not, apparently, shared with his wife the news that he'd been subpoenaed in King Lincoln Bronzeville Sept. 22.

Ms. Connell expressed shock at learning that her husband had been called to testify and expressed doubt when informed that her husband was a witness in a federal case.

"I don’t believe it," Ms. Connell told Raw Story. "He is a good man. He has done nothing wrong."

The case known as King Lincoln Bronzeville Neighborhood Association v. Blackwell was initially filed against former Ohio Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell on Aug. 31, 2006 by Columbus attorney Clifford Arnebeck on behalf of several Ohio residents.

The original filing alleged that there had been civil rights violations by Blackwell during the 2004 election, involving racially discriminatory practices such as the selective purging of voters from the election rolls and the unequal allocation of voting machines to various districts. The filing asked for measures to be taken to prevent similar problems during the November 2006 election.

On Oct. 9, 2006, an amended complaint was filed that added various forms of ballot-rigging as also having the effect of "depriving the Plaintiffs of their voting rights." A motion to dismiss the case as moot was filed following the November 2006 election, but instead it was stayed to allow for settlement discussions. That stay was later extended, and the case dragged on for almost two years for lack of detailed evidence.

Connell’s lawyers fought the subpoena and refused to furnish the plaintiffs with IT network schematics relating to the 2004 and 2006 elections.

His attorneys asserted that the request for documents was burdensome because the information sought should be "readily ascertainable through public records request" - but also, paradoxically, because "it seeks confidential, trade secrets, and/or proprietary information" that "have independent economic value" and "are not known to the public, or even to non-designated personnel within or working for Mr. Connell's business."

In calling for the judge to compel Connell to testify, plaintiffs cited recent security breaches in the computer system at the office of Ohio's Secretary of State, which were preceded by a barrage of threatening phone and email messages and death threats and which led to the state website temporarily being taken down Oct. 20. The plaintiffs used these events to suggest the possibility of Trojan horses or back doors in the system, which Connell had designed.

In addition, the plaintiffs’ attorneys provided information of alleged threats against Connell. These alleged threats and the alleged threats against the Ohio Secretary of State, resulted in the court issuing another subpoena compelling Connell’s testimony. The second subpoena was served Oct. 8 at the College Park Airport office when Connell flew in for the day for a meeting in DC.

On Nov. 3, 2008, Connell was finally deposed in the case.

It is uncertain what, if anything, Connell was prepared to confirm relating to alleged threats against him. Sources close to the case said that even if Connell had denied being threatened under oath, he would have had good reason to do so.

That part of the testimony is still sealed. Connell’s attorneys have not commented and forwarded all inquires to Ms. Connell.
Second Possible Aborted Flight – Unconfirmed
On November 21, roughly three weeks after Connell’s court testimony, a second flight appears to have been aborted. Unlike the Sept. 18 flight, there is no confirmation. The flight lasted 10 minutes before Connell turned his plane around.

As with the earlier aborted flight, Connell returned to the Akron-Canton Regional airport after a short time in the air. There has been no confirmation that this second flight was interrupted due to any suspicions on Connell’s part or any issues around the plane itself.

If this second flight was aborted, it may have been due to the alleged previous engine troubles that Mrs. Connell mentioned. On the other hand, a close friend of Connell’s who wished to remain unnamed explained that Connell could have simply taken someone for a ride that day or had a meeting, which was not uncommon.

It's this flight, however, that caused talk among Connell’s friends and family after his death, because no explanation has been provided as to if and why the flight was aborted.

Radar data shows almost a perfect circle, which bolsters the theory that Connell was taking someone for a ride.

The Nov. 21 flight was the last flight Connell made prior to his Dec. 19 crash.Larisa Alexandrovna is managing editor of investigative news for Raw Story and regularly reports on intelligence and national security stories. Contact: larisa@rawstory.com.

14 CFR Unknown

Accident occurred Friday, December 19, 2008 in North Canton, OH

Aircraft: PIPER PA-32R, registration: N9299N
Injuries: 1 Fatal.

This is preliminary information, subject to change, and may contain errors. Any errors in this report will be corrected when the final report has been completed.

On December 19, 2008, about 1753, a Piper PA-32R-301T, N9299N, received substantial damage on impact with terrain during a precision approach to runway 23. A post crash fire then ensued. The airplane impacted the front lawn of a vacant house about two miles east-northeast from Akron-Canton Regional Airport (CAK), Akron, Ohio. Night instrument meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The pilot was fatally injured and there were no ground injuries. The flight departed from College Park Airport (CGS) College Park, Maryland, about 1531 and was returning to CAK at the time of the accident.

During the approach to CAK, N9299N asked whether there were any reports of icing to which air traffic control (ATC) responded that there were no reports. ATC then instructed N9299N to provide a report of icing if encountered. No reports were received by N9299N. Preliminary radar data shows that the airplane maintained assigned headings and altitudes while en route to CAK.

The airplane received radar vectors to the instrument landing system (ILS) approach to runway 23. The airplane was vectored to intercept the approach about two miles from the outer marker. The airplane was inbound from the outer marker when ATC advised N9299N that it was left of course. ATC asked if N9299N would like to be resequenced and N9299N responded by transmitting “correcting.” The airplane altitude was still about 3,200 feet (the intermediate segment altitude for the approach is 3,200 feet). ATC then advised N9299N that it was “well left of the localizer” and if it would like to be resequenced. N9299N responded by transmitting that it would “like to correct.” N9299N was about 2 ½ miles from the airport when it then transmitted if it could execute a 360-degree turn. ATC then instructed N9299N to climb and maintain 3,000 feet and queried N9299N’s present heading. N9299N transmitted, “heading due north and climbing.” N9299N then declared an emergency.

A witness reported that he was outside of his home when he first heard a “loud” engine sound from a small aircraft. The sound was coming from the north and sounded as though the pilot was trying to accelerate “rapidly.” Suddenly, the witness saw two bright lights coming almost nose first toward the ground with the engine “roaring.” Based upon the witness’ view of the lights, he assumed the airplane was flying west to east. He lost sight of the airplane when it descended below a tree line.

The pilot held a private pilot certificate with single-engine land and instrument airplane ratings. The pilot reported a total flight time of 510 hours at the issuance of his last medical certificate dated October 19, 2007.

The CAK weather observations for the following times are:

1735: wind - 280 degrees at 9 knots; visibility - 10 miles; sky condition - broken 700 feet above ground level (agl), overcast 1,400 feet agl; temperature – 1 degree Celsius (C); dew point - -1 degree C; altimeter 29.77 inches of mercury

1751: wind - 300 degrees at 11 knots; visibility - 9 miles; sky condition - broken 500 feet agl, overcast 1,000 feet agl; temperature – 1 degree C; dew point - -1 degree C; altimeter 29.78 inches of mercury

1809: wind - 300 degrees at 10 knots; visibility – 2 1/2 miles, mist; sky condition - overcast 400 feet agl, overcast 1,000 feet agl; temperature – 1 degree C; dew point - -1 degree C; altimeter 29.78 inches of mercury

The wreckage path was about 290 feet in length along an approximate heading of 120 degrees. The wreckage path contained the fuselage, empennage, wings, engine, and propeller. The propeller, which was separated from the engine, exhibited S-shaped bending consistent with engine power. No anomalies were noted with the flight control system that would have precluded normal operation. The landing gear was extended.
