is not your fault, now you know that not all the things are true just because there is a big webpage that says it. Read their articles and you will se by your own; "a telephone call from Putin..." how they get this info?? it is always like this, they quote like this their source "or Russian intelligence source told us..." and then put Real news so it looks credible.

Well, fake-disinfo-news chapter closed, lets continue with the real thing  Wink

What about that Tom Heneghan guy (also from the Fourwinds website).  Is he tripe also?  Is that entire website tripe (a la Debka)Huh

Operation Gladio
© 1997 David Guyatt

When on the morning of 17 June 1982, the body of Roberto Calvi was found hanging beneath London's Blackfriars bridge, it was to speed a process that prised open a series of events spanning four decades. The circumstances of Calvi's death led knowledgeable observers to darkly whisper of a Masonic ritual slaying. With his hands tied behind his back and a brick thrust into his coat pocket, Calvi had been strangled, apparently by the rope that had been noosed around his neck. Moreover, the location itself was believed to be symbolic. Blackfriars bridge sits astride the border that connects the Masonically named "Square Mile" of the City of London to the rest of the Capital city.

The initial inquest into his death returned a verdict of suicide. Appealing against what they believed to be prejudice on the part of the Coroner - and suspicious of the Masonic affiliations of the City police - Calvi's family called for a second, more thorough inquest, which belatedly returned an open verdict. Meanwhile, Banco Ambrosiano, Calvi's massive, privately-owned bank, collapsed on the news of his death, revealing a huge "black hole" in the balance sheet amounting to $1.3 billion. A large proportion of the missing money was later located in accounts owned by the Vatican bank. The connections that unfolded in the wake of the Calvi "affair" were to link Masons with Mafiosi, Monks with Murder and Spies with wanted Nazi war criminals.

World War Two had barely ground to a final halt when, in 1947, Allied strategists set about planning for World War Three. Even as British and US intelligence officials scoured Europe seeking to apprehend Nazi's wanted on war crimes charges, other more secretive US and British intelligence units were actively engaged in helping those same Nazi's to escape.

    Europe's "Stay Behind" Units

Italy was not alone in having covert "stay behind" units in operation. The operation encompassed all of western Europe. In France the unit was called "Glaive" - again named after a Gladiatorial sword. Austria's unit was named "Schwert," also meaning sword. In Turkey the unit was named "Red Sheepskin" and in Greece "Sheepskin." Sweden's unit was called "Sveaborg." In Switzerland it went by the title P26. Other units in Holland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Luxembourg, Denmark and Holland remain unnamed. Not least, the United Kingdom's unit was simply known as "Stay Behind."

The means of escape were the Vatican run "Ratlines." Operated with the knowledge and blessing of highly placed US and British government officials, the Ratlines guided 30,000 wanted Nazi's to sanctuary. Safe haven locations included the US, Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the favourite bolt hole of them all: South America.

Those who reached safety in this manner read like a "Who's Who" of the most wanted Nazi war criminals. Klaus Barbie, the cruel Gestapo officer known as the "Butcher of Lyons;" Franz Stangl, Commandant of the notorious Treblinka extermination camp; Gustav Wagner Commandant of Sorbibor extermination camp; Alois Brunner, a brutal official in the Jewish deportation programme. Of the most famous to escape along the ratlines were Adolf Eichmann, the chief architect of the "Holoucast" and Dr Joseph Mengele, the "White Angel" of Auschwitz concentration camp. Not least was Deputy Fuhrer Martin Bormann. Incredibly, an entire Waffen SS division - the notorious "Galician Division" - consisting of 8000 men were smuggled to England and given "free settler" status.

Origins of the Stay Behind Network

Information that surfaced in recent years suggests that the "Stay Behind" concept first arose in Britain. Senior military sources told the Guardian newspaper in December 1990, that a British guerrilla network was already in place following the fall of France in 1940. Numerous arm "caches" were buried for later use by a special forces ski battalion of the Scots Guards under the leadership of Brigadier "Mad Mike" Calvert. After the war, the decision was taken to create new units throughout Europe. The plan was conceived by the US Joint Chiefs of Staff and spearheaded by the newly formed CIA.

Secretly granted immunity these and thousands of other battle hardened Nazi soldiers were to form the fighting nucleus of a top secret Allied contingency group conceived by the first Director of the CIA, Allen Dulles. Loosely known as operation "Stay Behind," the idea was to build a Europe wide secret network of anti communist guerrillas who would fight behind the lines in the event of a Soviet invasion. The plan was later codified under the umbrella of the Clandestine Co-ordinating Committee of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), the military arm of NATO.

US planners worried over the growing influence of Italy's large and popular communist party, established Operation "Gladio" in 1956. The name derived from the short sword used by Roman legionnaires 2000 years earlier, and was almost certainly drawn from the crest of SHAPE which features two swords arranged in an "A" shape. The Gladio network was operated by the secret services and initially funded by the US Central Intelligence Agency. 622 people were recruited and trained by US and British specialists in Sardinia. It is believed that up to 15,000 members were ultimately recruited to the Gladio network.

By 1972, with the prospect of a Soviet invasion receding, a decision was taken to "make a pre-emptive attack" on the Italian communist party - who had polled 27% in that year's election - and who would go on to increase their vote to 35% just four years later. There immediately followed a series of bomb outrages signalling the beginning of a "strategy of tension," designed to shift Italian politics sharply to the right. In April 1972 a Fascist bomb attack killed three carabinieri. In November 1973, an Argo 16 aircraft was destroyed in a mid-air explosion.

    Covert Political Destablisation in Britain

Britain's "Stay Behind" unit was modified after the war, for a "secondary use." This was to combat "the takeover of civil government by militant leftwing groups." The network was operated by Britain's intelligence services and selected members of the armed forces. Rumours persist that Harold Wilson's Labour government was the target of a Gladio type campaign not dissimilar to that of Italy. Wilson's surprise resignation has been credited to a dirty tricks campaign operated by British intelligence at the behest of the US. Known as operation "Clockwork Orange" Army psyops personnel began "fabricating" evidence that showed that senior members of the Wilson Cabinet, including the Prime Minister himself, were Soviet dupes. Waiting in the wings were senior military and other rightwing figures alleged to be planning a military style "Coup D'Etat" in the event that the Labour government won the forthcoming election

But if the Gladio network was the armed force, the secret Masonic lodge "Propaganda Due" (P2) was the Elitist "shadow government" tasked with directing them. Adhering to a right wing ideology bordering on fascism, P2 was headed by Licio Gelli - known as the "Puppet-master." During the war Gelli had been a member of Mussolini's notorious "Black shirts," and later acted as liaison officer to the Hermann Goering SS division. By 1974 P2 had in excess of 1000 members comprising a "who's who" of Italian political, military and economic power. Members included four Cabinet ministers, three intelligence chiefs, 160 senior military officers, 48 MPs, the Army Chief of Staff, as well as top diplomats, bankers, industrialists and media publishers.

It was also during 1974 that Gelli met secretly with Alexander Haig. Formerly, the NATO Supreme Commander, Haig had meanwhile become President Nixon's White House Chief of Staff. The secret meeting was held in the US Embassy in Rome. Receiving the blessing of Henry Kissinger, the US National Security Adviser, Gelli left the meeting with a promise of continued financial support for the Gladio network and it's plan for the "internal subversion." of Italian political life. As welcome as this was, Gelli required additional funds to support P2 and operation Gladio.

He turned to P2 member Roberto Calvi, Chairman of Banco Ambrosiano - the largest non-state owned bank in Italy. Calvi began to illegally siphon money from his bank, using the Vatican bank - the Istituto per de Religione (IOR) to launder it. Almost certainly, Gelli had a hold over Calvi. Earlier, in 1967, the former head of the Italian Secret Service had joined P2 and brought with him 150,000 sensitive dossiers that had been compiled on highly placed individuals of Italian society.

Whether as a result of blackmail or political ideology, Calvi continued to funnel a vast amount of funds to Gelli and P2, bankrupting his bank in the process. Meanwhile, other events were to occur that shocked not only Italy but the entire world. In early 1978, Prime Minister Aldo Moro was kidnapped and later assassinated by the so called "Red brigades" - a revolutionary pro Soviet group. Evidence now exists that shows Moro's murder was orchestrated by P2, and that both the "Red" and "Black" brigades were heavily penetrated by US intelligence - who are credited with "running" them.

    Licio Gelli and Propaganda Due

"The doors of all bank vaults open to the right." The words were spoken by Licio Gelli, the Venerable Master of Propaganda Due (P2), an Italian Masonic lodge with extreme right wing affiliations. P2 was a "covered" lodge, a term that denoted it was secret and operated outside of normal Masonic control. Numbered amongst its 1000 plus members were senior individuals from Italy's ruling elite. These included members of the armed services, the security and intelligence services, parliamentarians, civil servants, members of the judiciary and prominent figures from finance, industry, publishing and other sectors.

Born in Tuscany in 1919, Gelli was a fascist who saw service in a Black Shirts Battalion in the Spanish civil war. During WW11 he became a liaison officer in the SS Hermann Goering Division. This background leapfrogged him to the attention of the Italian Secret Service and later to the British and Soviet secret services. Thereafter he was to assume a shadowy and powerful role as a broker of influence in the CIA and NATO sponsored "Operation Gladio" - a covert operation that created turmoil throughout Italy during the 1960s and 1970s. Gelli's power arose from the most sensitive files gathered by the Italian secret service that were handed to him in 1967. Armed with this inside information he was able to blackmail and coerce his way across the spectrum of Italy's ruling elite, for which he was dubbed "The Puppet Master."

Four years earlier, in 1974, Moro - then Foreign Minister - visited the US. Aware of the popular, democratic support the Italian Communist Party (PCI) was receiving from Italian voters, Moro wished to reach an accommodation with the PCI, and offer their leaders Cabinet rank in a new centrist ruling party. His Washington visit did not go well. During a meeting with then Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, Moro was told that such a move was viewed in the US as "profoundly dangerous and mistaken." A later meeting with an unnamed intelligence official left Moro fearful for his life. The official told Moro he must abandon any idea to incorporate the communists ".or you will pay dearly for it." The official continued by warning Moro that "groups on the fringes of the official secret services might be brought into operation" if he didn't modify his position. It was a clear reference to P2 and the Gladio network. Moro cut short his visit and returned home in fear of his life, his wife later revealed.

Within months of Moro's assassination, the world awoke to hear the glad news that Albino Luciani had been elected Pope, taking the title Pope John Paul I. Revered as an honest, gentle and insightful man, Luciani's election caused anguish in many areas of the Vatican curia. Not least, Bishop Paul Marcinkus, the American head of the Vatican bank, felt his days were numbered. Marcinkus' removal from office would open a hornet's nest of financial sleaze. Via the Vatican bank, Marcinkus had engaged in a vast amount of financial skulduggery. In addition to his financial shenanigans with Banco Ambrosiano, the IOR was also using known Mafia figures to invest some of its vast wealth. Not least, Luciani was viewed by some on the far right of Italian politics to be soft on communism; his father being a committed Socialist and having once stood for political office.

Taken as a whole it was more than enough. Thirty three days after his election, the "Smiling Pope," as he was popularly known, was found dead. Replaced by Karol Wojtyla, who took the title of John Paul II, Bishop Marcinkus was not only reprieved but became a close confidant of the new Polish pope. Under the new, safer regime, Marcinkus went on to provide large sums to the Polish ship-workers union, Solidarity - which is largely credited with bringing an end to communism in Poland. Clearly, staunch anti communism was to be a continuing feature of Vatican life, as it had been under Luciani's predecessor, Pope Paul VI - who as the young Monsignor Giovanni Montini, the Under Secretary of State since 1937 - was heavily involved in the post war Ratlines.

In an additional "twist" it was revealed in 1992, by Mafia defector Francesco Mannino Mannoia, that Roberto Calvi had been strangled by Francesco Di Carlo, the Mafia's London based Heroin traffic manager. The order for the murder came from Pippo Calo, the Mafia treasurer and ambassador to Rome. Desperate to plug an increasingly large hole in his banks books, Calvi had agreed to launder large quantities of drugs money for the Corleone Mafia empire. Instead of laundering Mafia money, Calvi began skimming the profits to keep his bank afloat.

Faced with certain discovery and even more certain consequences, Calvi rushed to London to negotiate a loan from Opus Dei - a highly secretive and fabulously wealthy Catholic faction described by one authority as "sinister, secretive and Orwellian." A highly credible and knowledgeable source told this writer that Calvi met with the Treasurer of Opus Dei who had agreed to purchase a minority stake in Calvi's Banco Ambrosiano. The deal, had it proceeded would have provided the essential funds needed to repay the Mafia, and stave-off an imminent investigation into his affairs by Italy's Central bank.

Opus Dei - which translates as "God's work," had long sought to take effective control of the Vatican. Their cause had been advanced by the sudden death of Pope John Paul I and the election of a keen supporter: Pope John Paul II. With Machiavellian insight, senior figures of Opus Dei reasoned that with Calvi dead the collapse of Banco Ambrosiano would surely follow. This, in turn, would shake loose powerful enemies inside the Curia, opening the way for them to gain total dominance of the Vatican. Consequently, Roberto Calvi was thrown to the Wolves.

According to critics, Opus Dei is aggressively right wing in its teachings, and operates a form of thought control. Disciples undergo bouts of agonising self inflicted torture, allegedly designed to clarify thought and cleanse the spirit. They are also taught to avoid natural human feelings, being admonished instead to have a "reticent and guarded heart." Likewise, disciples are not permitted to read certain books, including those authored by communist ideologist Karl Marx.

Detractors believe it a religious faction that shares numerous values similar to the neo-nazi's that people the Masonic P2 lodge. Until recently - and for hundreds of years previously - any member of the Catholic church who was found to be a Freemason was automatically ex-communicated. Despite this many members of the Curia were discovered to be covert members of P2. Subsequently, in 1983, a new Canon Law announced that this would cease. Thereafter, any member of the Roman Church was free to become a Freemason.

Following the Calvi affair, the Vatican sought to diminish increasingly poor publicity by establishing a commission of enquiry. One of the so called "Four Wise Men" who sat on this enquiry was Dr Herman Abs, a senior German banker. During the war years Abs headed Deutsche Bank and was one of the principal financiers of Adolf Hitler. He also sat on the board of I G Farben, the massive Nazi conglomerate that used slave labour until they dropped. Farben also manufactured Zyklon B - the poisonous gas used with such devastating effect in the extermination camps. Arrested for war crimes at the end of WW11, Abs was quietly released following the intervention of the Bank of England.

Something else suspicious about this.

Just as with 9/11, Columbine, Virginia Tech, the initial reaction, the crucial reaction, from the corresponding government agencies are late, uncoordinated and/or ineffective. It's like they want to make sure their little black op is given the chance to do as much damage as possible for the maximum psychological impact.

According to Ha'aretz the response of the Indian authorities was slow, confused and inefficient.

They didn't even send the proper terrorist response unit, just some regular city cops.

The article tries to say it was because the Indian authorities didn't realize the "scope" of the attack.

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1041684.html

Gimme a break. If anything the Indian army should have been called out immediately in response to these attacks. It should have been obvious to even the most casual observer that this was a military style operation,  not the work of a couple thugs or a gang or a local, limited operation like a shooting or a bomb going off.

The attacks were far more severe than you would send the local police to handle. They were sophisticated, well coordinated - launched on at least seven different locations - violent, bloody and involved hostages.

There are fascist groups in all power house countries like India, and they use these things to start wars with other countries. Pakistan and India have been arch enemies for ages, they have fought of Kashmir. Both have done their fair share of slaughtering too, they are not innocent muslims or hindi's. India actually opened fire and killed hundreds of Pakistani soldiers about 10 years ago when Pakistan was pulling out of an area in Kashmir. India wouldn't have much of a problem blaming Pakistan regardless of who committed the attacks, they always blame Pakistan. And now they are working with the U.S. On Nuclear Techonology so i would assume as i said when this happened, they are surrounding pakistan and preparing for something very big on both sides of their boarder

Haaretz can suck it.  No one understood the scope of the attack.  The Mumbai police went in as it's their jurisdiction--in fact the chief anti-terror Officer (Mr. Karare) got shot cause he literally chased down the terrorists himself (very brave, but that's taking too much risk); The local police themselves called the Indian Army when they realized this was a huge operation (10-12 sites in various parts of Bombay attacked), and so all 3 commando units were immediately called in.  The Mumbai police weren't "sent in" by the more elite commandos cause they're lethargic!!

I've been watching the Indian News channels (it's just running on my computer in the background) and no one has yet stated that any Indian force was "lazy" or "slow."

Tough talk on Pakistan from Obama
Wed Aug 1, 2007 7:26pm EDT

Obama talks tough on Pakistan
 .

By Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama said on Wednesday the United States must be willing to strike al Qaeda targets inside Pakistan, adopting a tough tone after a chief rival accused him of naivete in foreign policy.

Obama's stance comes amid debate in Washington over what to do about a resurgent al Qaeda and Taliban in areas of northwest Pakistan that President Pervez Musharraf has been unable to control, and concerns that new recruits are being trained there for a September 11-style attack against the United States.

Obama said if elected in November 2008 he would be willing to attack inside Pakistan with or without approval from the Pakistani government, a move that would likely cause anxiety in the already troubled region.

"If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won't act, we will," Obama said.

The Illinois Democrat is trying to convince Americans he has the foreign policy heft to be president after a rival candidate, New York Democratic Sen. Hillary Clinton, questioned his readiness to be commander in chief.

Clinton last week labeled Obama naive for saying he would be willing to meet the leaders of Iran, Cuba, Syria, North Korea and Venezuela without preconditions in his first year in office.

A poll by The Wall Street Journal and NBC News said Clinton has widened her lead over Obama, going up to 43 percent in July from 39 percent in June. Obama tallied 22 percent, down from 25 percent in June.

Those polled cited Clinton's experience and competence highest among her positive attributes.

Obama said he would make hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. military aid to Pakistan conditional on Pakistan making substantial progress in closing down training camps, evicting foreign fighters and preventing the Taliban from using Pakistan as a staging area for attacks on Afghanistan.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said Pakistan was working hard to fight al Qaeda and the Taliban, and Washington was doing what it could in support.

"At the same time, we recognize the sovereignty of the Pakistani government and realize that they're putting on a serious push ... They're taking the fight to al Qaeda," Snow said.

IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

Clinton, in an interview with the American Urban Radio Network, stressed the importance of the Pakistanis "taking the actions that only they can take within their own country."

But she did not rule out U.S. attacks inside Pakistan, citing the missile attacks her husband, then-President Bill Clinton, ordered against Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan in 1998.

"If we had actionable intelligence that Osama bin Laden or other high-value targets were in Pakistan I would ensure that they were targeted and killed or captured," she said.
Another Democratic candidate, former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards, said he would not hesitate to use force against extremists but said, "I believe we must first use maximum diplomatic and economic pressure on states like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to take all necessary actions to stop al Qaeda."

Obama criticized President George W. Bush's emphasis on al Qaeda in Iraq and said as president he would end the war there and refocus efforts on the al Qaeda threat in Afghanistan and Pakistan by sending at least two additional U.S. brigades to Afghanistan.

He said that "because of a war in Iraq that should never have been authorized and should never have been waged, we are now less safe than we were before 9/11."

It is disgusting how blatently obvious these Black Ops are then they go ahead and say they are confused. They dont get it, the population KNOWS the intelligence agencies do these things, yet they still think they can get away with it. Well in the long run they wont, there are way too many people that questioned the attack as it happened, unlike 9-11 where we immediately focused on Al Queda and 19 highjackers. Now there are various different stories depending on the country and publication, because people are not as stupid as they were.

Mobius Still an India Bull on Growth, Valuations After Attacks
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601080&sid=acdUQdbdX4kE&refer=asia
By Pooja Thakur

Nov. 28 (Bloomberg) -- India’s first terrorist attack against foreigners has done nothing to dent Mark Mobius’s confidence in the stock market of the world’s second-fastest growing major economy.

While Mobius says stocks may fall when trading resumes in Mumbai, the executive chairman of San Mateo, California-based Templeton Asset Management Ltd. is bullish because the economy is still “vibrant” and the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index is valued near the cheapest level on record relative to profit. AMP Capital Investors also expects any declines spurred by the attacks on two luxury hotels in India’s financial capital to be short-lived.

Exchanges shut yesterday after militants targeting Americans and Britons stormed into the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower hotel and the Oberoi Trident complex. At least 101 people were killed and 290 injured. India’s stock-index futures fell 2.4 percent yesterday in Singapore.

“It’s a fast-growing economy and we can’t allow this kind of incident to sway our decisions regarding where we want to invest,” Mobius, 72, said in a Bloomberg Television interview from Hong Kong. “India will rise from this and prosper.”

The assaults were the latest blow to investors after the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression sparked this year’s 56 percent drop in the Sensex stock index, the biggest annual decline on record.

Trading Resumption

The Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange may resume trading as early as today, along with bond, foreign exchange, commodities and money markets, bourse officials and the central bank said yesterday.

S&P CNX Nifty Index futures for November delivery slid the most since Nov. 19. Contracts that protect against a default by Mumbai-based State Bank of India Ltd. rose 15 basis points to 412.5 in Hong Kong, according to Morgan Stanley’s prices, the first increase since Nov. 20.

International investors sold a record $13.5 billion in Indian equities this year as of Nov. 24, according to data from the Securities and Exchange Board of India, as the economy grew at the slowest pace since 2004 in the second quarter and global credit losses and writedowns approached $1 trillion. Investors bought a record $17.4 billion in 2007.

“In this environment of extreme risk aversion, the bombing probably will give investors a fright,” said Alistair Thompson, who helps manage Asian and global emerging market assets at First State Investments in Singapore. “India was facing challenges anyway with massive amounts of foreign money leaving in droves.”

‘Hammered to Death’

This year’s slump has left the Sensex index valued at 9 times the earnings of its 30 companies, less than half the four- year average of 19.3, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The gauge traded at 8.4 times profit last week, the cheapest level since at least 2002.

“Stock prices have been hammered to death,” said Seth Freeman, who overseas $130 million as chief executive officer of EM Capital Management LLC. “I wish we had more capital to deploy at this point.”

India’s Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram predicted last week economic growth will “bounce back” to 9 percent in 2009, from at least 7 percent this year, driven by record crop plantings, public sector pay increases and tax breaks. The International Monetary Fund in Washington said this month that India may expand 6.3 percent in 2009, the fastest after China among the world’s 20 biggest economies.

Global Trading Halts

The Sensex’s drop this year has still been smaller than China’s CSI 300 Index, which fell 65 percent, and Russia’s ruble-denominated Micex Index, which lost 67 percent. Brazil is the only one of the so-called BRIC nations to outperform India, with the Bovespa Index losing 43 percent.

Stock and bond markets in India were last shut in July 2005, after monsoon rains disrupted Mumbai and other areas in the western state of Maharashtra. The last time exchanges were closed because of a terrorist attack was on March 12, 1993, when bomb blasts in the city killed more than 250 people.

The Sensex posted a two-day, 3.5 percent rally following that attack. The gauge rose 3 percent the week after a train bombing on March 13, 2003. It fell 2.9 percent on Aug. 25, 2003, when car bombs left more than 40 dead, before finishing that week up 2.9 percent. Bombings on commuter trains in Mumbai on July 11, 2006, also didn’t prevent the Sensex from climbing 3 percent the next day.

“After these things, you often see a knee-jerk reaction,” said Nader Naeimi, a Sydney-based strategist at AMP Capital, which oversees $85 billion. “I don’t think these attacks will have any lasting impact at all. The market has adjusted to a world with the potential of terrorist attacks.”

Haaretz can suck it.

It's not just Ha'aretz. It's Global Security. CNN and BBC reported it too.

No one understood the scope of the attack.

Saying no one understood the scope of the attacks isn't an argument. The fact is that the scope of the attacks as I said earlier should have been apparent to the trained eye.

The Mumbai police went in as it's their jurisdiction

I'm not questioning why the police went in as a procedural point. Of course it's their jurisdiction. The point is that they should have been told to stand down or been relegated to a support role as the army rolled in to handle it.

I've been watching the Indian News channels (it's just running on my computer in the background) and no one has yet stated that any Indian force was "lazy" or "slow."

I don't know what you're seeing on Indian news but just because you say you haven't seen anyone criticize the police doesn't mean the police haven't been criticized Roll Eyes

Clues point to domestic terrorists in India attack

LONDON – The attack on India's financial capital bears all the trademarks of al-Qaida — simultaneous assaults meant to kill scores of Westerners in iconic buildings — but clues so far point to homegrown Indian terrorists, global intelligence officials said Thursday.

Spy agencies around the world were caught off guard by the deadly attack, in which gunmen sprayed crowds with bullets, torched landmark hotels and took dozens of hostages.

"We have been actively monitoring plots in Britain and abroad and there was nothing to indicate something like this was about to happen," a British security official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of his work.

Britain is the former colonial power in India and Pakistan and closely monitors terrorist suspects in those countries.

In some ways, the attack illustrated just how fluid terror tactics have become since Sept. 11 — and how the threat has become more global. Al-Qaida's leaders on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border still provide inspiration but groups are becoming increasingly local.

The group that claimed responsibility, Deccan Mujahideen, was unknown to global security officials. The name suggested the group was Indian.

One of the suspects reportedly called an Indian television station, speaking the main Pakistani language of Urdu, to demand the return of Muslim lands. That was a reference to Kashmir, territory claimed by both India and Pakistan.

But Ajai Sahni, head of the New Delhi-based Institute for Conflict Management who has close ties to India's police and intelligence, said the attack was a departure from past assaults waged over Kashmir. Other such attacks had targeted Indian legislators, not Westerners.

Security officials said it was too soon to make a connection to Pakistan.

"It would be premature ... to reach any hard-and-fast conclusions on who may be responsible for the attacks, but some of what we're seeing is reminiscent of past terrorist operations undertaken by groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed," a U.S. counterterrorism official said on condition of anonymity, referring to Pakistani militant groups linked to al-Qaida who have fought Indian troops in Kashmir.

Another British security official told the AP on condition of anonymity that the attack doesn't look to have been directed by al-Qaida's core leadership, which has been weakened by the deaths of several leaders and key operatives in recent months.

Al-Qaida's core leadership is believed to be fewer than 100 people now, said Rohan Gunaratna, author of "Inside Al-Qaida" and a terrorism expert at the International Center for Political Violence and Terrorism Research in Singapore.

The British security official said it appeared the attack was inspired by Islamic extremist ideology and al-Qaida propaganda popular among radicalized youths. Many of the attackers in the Mumbai assault were young.

Gunaratna said he believed the group that carried out Wednesday's attack was the Indian Mujahideen, responsible for past attacks in Mumbai.

The word "Deccan" refers to a plateau in southern India. "Mujahideen" refers to holy warriors.

"The earlier generation of terrorist groups in India were mostly linked to Pakistan," Gunaratna told the AP. "But today we are seeing a dramatic change. They are almost all homegrown groups. ... They are very angry and firmly believe that India is killing Muslims and attacking Islam."

British-based Jane's Information Group said it thought the attackers could be Indian but that taking hostages suggested a wider anti-Western agenda.

"Until now, terrorist attacks in India have targeted civilians, often in busy market or commercial areas, and in communally sensitive areas with the intention to foment unrest between Hindu and Muslim communities," said Urmila Venugopalan, Jane's South Asia analyst.

"This stands in contrast to the national issues that appeared to motivate Indian Mujahideen," Venugopalan said.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh blamed "external forces" but stopped short of blaming Pakistan. Both are nuclear-armed countries.

In September, a massive suicide truck bomb devastated the Marriott Hotel in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, killing at least 54 people, including three Americans and the Czech ambassador.

"This type of terrorism is spreading, through Pakistan and now India, but we were all surprised by such a large-scale attack like this," said Wajid Hassan, Pakistan's High Commissioner in London. "This is no coincidence that this type of attack happened so soon after the bombing of the Marriott Hotel. People from all countries are being paid to fight this al-Qaida war. This is a war that goes beyond any nationality."

Sahni, however, said "very preliminary investigations and intelligence information would suggest that some groups based in Pakistan are the most likely.

"If there is Indian participation, it's most likely to be Students' Islamic Movement of India," he said, referring to a radical student group banned in India in 2001.

Indian intelligence officials were also investigating whether Mumbai's criminal underworld could be involved.

"It's a possibility," Sahni said. "When we say Mumbai underworld we're talking of Dawood Ibrahim."

Ibrahim is one of India's most wanted men and also the alleged mastermind behind bombings in Mumbai in 1993 that killed 257 people. He has reportedly fled Mumbai, and police now believe he lives in Pakistan. Pakistani officials have denied this.

Evidence Mumbai Attackers were Anglo-American Intel Operatives
http://www.infowars.com/?p=6222
Kurt Nimmo Infowars November 27, 2008

As a BBC report notes, at least some of the Mumbai attackers were not Indian and certainly not Muslim.

Pappu Mishra, a cafe proprietor at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, described “two sprightly young men dressed in black” with AK47s who were “foreign looking, fair skinned.”

Gaffar Abdul Amir, an Iraqi tourist from Baghdad, saw at least two men who started the firing outside the Leopold Cafe. “They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed,” Amir told the BBC.

Other “men walked into the cafe, drank beer, settled their bills and walked out. Then they fished out guns from their bags and began firing.” Muslims do not drink alcohol, that is unless they are Muslims like Marwan Al-Shehhi and Mohamed Atta,
who reportedly not only liked to drink but enjoyed lap dances by topless dancers as well before they supposedly hijacked planes and flew them into buildings.

Even though these firsthand accounts indicate the attackers were white, drank alcohol and displayed the steely and professional reserve of trained military men, the emerging story carried by the corporate media blames the attacks on al-Qaeda and specifically Lashkar-e-Taiba, one Arab and the other Asian. “A terrorist group with training camps in Pakistan and strong ties with al-Qaeda as well as a history of mounting attacks in India yesterday became the chief suspect behind the atrocities,” reports the Times Online, pointing to Lashkar-e-Taiba.

As the Times Online admits, Lashkar-e-Taiba is a creation of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI. It “receives considerable financial, material and other forms of assistance from the Pakistan government, routed primarily through the ISI. The ISI is the main source of LeT’s funding. Saudi Arabia also provides funds,” explains the South Asia Terrorism Portal. Lashkar-e-Taiba “also played a part in the ISI organized ‘Bosnian campaign against the Serbs,’ which was directed above the ISI by the CIA and British intelligence.”

According to Andrew G. Marshall, the ISI “has long been referred to as Pakistan’s ’secret government’ or ’shadow state.’ It’s long-standing ties and reliance upon American and British intelligence have not let up, therefore actions taken by the ISI should be viewed in the context of being a Central Asian outpost of Anglo-American covert intelligence operations.”

The presence of “foreign looking, fair skinned” commandos who calmly gunned down dozens of people after drinking a few beers indicates that the Mumbai attacks were likely the work of the Anglo-American covert intelligence operatives, not indigenous Indian Muslims or for that matter Arab al-Qaeda terrorists. The attacks prepare the ground for the break-up of Pakistan and the furtherance of destabilizing terrorism in the Middle East and Asia. The Mumbai attacks had little to do with India or the relationship between Muslim Pakistanis and Hindu Indians.

“Pakistan’s position as a strategic focal point cannot be underestimated. It borders India, Afghanistan, China and Iran,” concludes Marshall. “Destabilizing and ultimately breaking Pakistan up into several countries or regions will naturally spread chaos and destabilization into neighboring countries. This is also true of Iraq on the other side of Iran, as the Anglo-American have undertaken, primarily through Iraq, a strategy of balkanizing the entire Middle East in a new imperial project.” (See Marshall’s Divide and Conquer: The Anglo-American Imperial Project.)

It is no mistake, as well, that Barack Obama has called for action against Pakistan. “If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf won’t act, we will,” Obama said last August.

Regardless of who occupies the White House, the global elite are determined to continue their agenda of violence and murder in order to realize order through chaos. Obama and the Democrats will spend the next four years blaming George W. Bush for what the neocons have done while making sure the same destructive policies remain in effect. It is a shell game. George Bush and Barack Obama control nothing, they are little more than front men for the New World Order.

Saying no one understood the scope of the attacks isn't an argument. The fact is that the scope of the attacks as I said earlier should have been apparent to the trained eye.

I'm not questioning why the police went in as a procedural point. Of course it's their jurisdiction. The point is that they should have been told to stand down or been relegated to a support role as the army rolled in to handle it.

I don't know what you're seeing on Indian news but just because you say you haven't seen anyone criticize the police doesn't mean the police haven't been criticized Roll Eyes

It's true that the attacks were not pre-empted, but you wrote:  Indian authorities was slow, confused and inefficient.  They didn't even send the proper terrorist response unit, just some regular city cops.  The article tries to say it was because the Indian authorities didn't realize the "scope" of the attack.

And I'm saying, yes they did send in the proper units:  3 separate commando forces ... quickly:  the Rapid Action Force (the dudes in the lighter-blue fatigues), and 2 other unites (you can tell them apart by their clothing and gear), whatever they're called.  Whatever Haaretz or the MSM is writing is wrong.  The local police saw the action first and IMMEDIATELY ATTACKED (it's very sad as the ATF Leader himself was killed within minutes plus 2 other Senior officers who also took to the streets a la Rambo) and then called for help when they realized they don't have the helicopters and fancy shit to fight 10-12 coordinated attacks.  The Commissioner was shown choking up as he lost his immediate subordinates (the most senior officers except for himself).  And within minutes (not a matter of hours), national forces were dispatched.  Trust me, it was about as quick as you can get without pre-empting the terrorist.

I have no idea what Haaretz or the MSM is fussing about.  There are no teleporters--at least not in India.  And hostage drama always takes a long time as once they get holed up, you can't go in Jack Bauer style (as sexy as that looks) as they'll just end up killing everyone.  You just cordon shit off and try to talk all while slowing pushing your guys up through the catecombs, ducts, and other entrances to the buildings (that'll take hours).

I dont care what anyone says, im calling false flag.. Two differant accounts of european looking terrorist gunmen.. Fair skin? Blonde hair?

CAFE ATTACK
"They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed," says Mr Amir.

TRAIN STATION ATTACK
"Then, the "foreign looking, fair skinned" men, as Mr Mishra remembers them, simply carried on killing.

"Their audaciousness was breath-taking," he says.

"One man loaded the magazine into the gun, the other kept shooting. They appeared calm and composed. They were not in the slightest hurry. They didn't seem to be afraid at all."

Clues point to domestic terrorists in India attack

LONDON – The attack on India's financial capital bears all the trademarks of al-Qaida — simultaneous assaults meant to kill scores of Westerners in iconic buildings

Oh please. These articles insult the intelligence.

All the hallmarks of an Al-Quaida attack and then you name just one hallmark?  Oh and if we're staying with the official 9/11 fairy tale, and Al-Quaida did attack the WTC, please tell me another Al-Quaida attack of simultaneous assaults on Westerners in iconic buildings.

And is it just me or are you getting sick of the simultaneous and total failure of all Western intelligence agencies who are supposed to be the ones who spot and prevent these "terror" attacks?

Are we ever going to see resignations and dismissals over these "failures"?

Equally annoying is their attempt in the article to resuscitate the "war on terror" fear mongering as they keep pushing their global agenda. Note the demonstrably weak propaganda in there about what a global threat terror is increasingly becoming after 9/11.  Their problem here is that we are already in a super hyped up propaganda global war on terror since 9/11. We can't get more "global" than we are now.
Recall immediately after 9/11 how we were told ad nauseum that terrorism was now a global threat and that the world had to come up with  global solution to combat it. Who could forget the term the "global war on terror".

One bit of good news from that article, however, is that the Pakistan connection is being downplayed.

100 Groups In A War Against India
http://www.daily.pk/politics/politicalnews/8350.html?task=view
Thursday, 27 November 2008 14:40

Mumbai’s night of terror underscores a phenomenon concealed by the Indian government and intelligence agencies and deliberately ignored by a biased Anglo-American media for a long time: The rise of a virulent form of Hindu terrorism that begets violence from other minorities.
Here is a list of almost one hundred groups that are fighting the Indian government. All of them thrive in India. The context for what has happened in Mumbai is stunning only for those unaware how a cocktail mix of wrong policies, official patronage to extremism, and separatist movements have come together to destabilize India.

The night of Nov. 26, 2008, will go down in history as the day when India’s homegrown terrorism reared its head after years of silent mushroom growth.

This terrorism in Mumbai is not surprising, unlike the reactions in most of the western media.  India’s terrorist underground has been flourishing for many years.  While the U.S. media was busy last year likening Pakistan to Iraq in a politically motivated campaign aligned with U.S. military objectives, experts were ranking India only second to Iraq in the number of people who died as a result of terrorist attacks between 2004 and 2007, according to one survey by an American think tank.

The Indian government has been artfully concealing a worrying development for at least sixteen years under an organized hype centered on economic growth and military power projection with a focus on China and Pakistan.

Indian terrorism is a confusing mix. Journalists and observers outside the region often miss the simmering tensions beneath the surface that occasionally burst into the open, surprising many and raising questions like how could there be so much violence in what is supposed to be a secular democracy and a rising economy where such things should not happen.

In India, there is a cocktail mix of wrong policies, official patronage to extremism, and separatist movements, all coming together to destabilize India.  At least 600 Christians, churches, nuns and priests were targeted by Hindu mobs in eastern India in August this year. Almost the entire Muslim population of Kashmir is up in arms against the excesses, arrests, murders and rapes by the Indian army.  For years there has been a media trial of Indian Muslims for real and imaginary involvement in violence.  News such as the arrest this month of two serving Indian army officers involved in crimes that were attributed to Indian Muslims has served to increase disgruntlement among minorities.  In 2002, close to 2,500 Indian Muslim men, women and children were burned alive in the first religious genocide of 21st century. In 1984, Sikhs were hauled off buses in New Delhi and beaten or burned to death following the assassination of Indian prime minister Indra Gandhi at the hands of Sikh bodyguards. And finally, between 12 to 14 separatist insurgencies currently rage across India’s north and northeast.

All of this makes for a dangerous combination that simmers quietly under the surface. The Indian media’s self-imposed ban on discussing these problems helps keep the lid on them.  But when the pressure becomes unbearable, things occasionally burst into the open in the shape of terrorist acts.  This only surprises those who do no know how India has been gradually relapsing into religious extremism in the period between 1990 and 2008.  This history is important in order to understand why the Indian claims of Pakistani complicity in the attacks have often sought to simplify a complex situation.

Hindu militant groups have mushroomed in the past few years. This month, the arrest of two serving Indian army officers has confirmed speculation that Hindu terrorist groups have infiltrated Indian military and political establishments.

1992 was the definite year that saw Hindu fundamentalism express itself politically. Hundreds of religious terrorists descended on a north Indian city with tools in hand. They climbed on top of a majestic, 500-year-old mosque built by the same Muslim rulers who built the famous Taj Mahal.  Imbibed with religious hatred, the Hindu mobs razed the building to the ground.  Indian government authorities did nothing to stop it.

This Indian betrayal of a carefully crafted secular image would prove fatal later. In 1999, a Hindu mob surrounded the car of Graham Staines, an Australian priest, and his underage boy and girl and burned them alive.

Australia maintained an unusual quiet till this day about this major act of terrorism. The bias is easily detectable when compared to Australia’s reaction and statements to ‘Muslim terrorism’, especially in Indonesia and later in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

In this sense, countries like United States, Britain and Australia are partially responsible for letting the growth of India terrorism – with its mix of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian and ethnic insurgencies – go unnoticed for so many years. These western countries have done this in order not to disturb the Anglo-Saxon project of grooming India as a bulwark against China and Russia and other regional powers.

Following is a list of various indigenous separatist, militant and terrorist organizations operating in India against the Indian federal government.  This list has been compiled using information available in the public domain, news reports and specialized publications. During any given incident in India, a combination of some or all of these organizations is a suspect, including in the Mumbai blasts and in any other militant activity.  Blaming Kashmiris or Pakistanis for Indian internal problems would be a factual misrepresentation that must be countered with full force by Pakistan.

It should also be noted that the Indian establishment is cracking down on Tamil separatists due to violence in Sri Lanka as Tamils are regrouping in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nado.  Tamils have to their credit the last significant political assassination in India, the blowing up of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1984. They continue to be the most ruthless terror outfit in India.  Mumbai blasts carry the fingerprints of many terror groups operating inside India, each with a long list of grievances against the Indian government and enough motivation to carry out such terrorist acts.

A church being ransacked on the outskirts of New Delhi, 2008.

Not all groups in this list are necessarily terrorist organizations.  But all of them are active against the Indian government.

Here are quick references that can help understand the India story:

Hindu Al-Qaeda: Asia’s New ‘Terror Central’ : Here is the hottest Indian story, neatly tucked under the well constructed –and expensive- veneer of ‘Incredible India’ advertisements on international television news channels: The fast rise of Indian religious terrorist organizations that have penetrated India’s military and politics.  The movement is so strong, resourceful and organized that it warrants the label India’s Hindu al-Qaeda. India is quietly emerging as a new ‘terror central’. Since the start of this century, almost nine years ago, India has seen the targeted murder of over 700 Christians, 2500 Muslims, and the unaccounted hundreds of ‘untouchables’. That’s not all. India is now grooming its own ‘Hindu al Qaeda,’ terrorist militias tasked with guarding India’s dreams of becoming the next superpower. Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka beware. India is already grooming rebels to stir trouble in China’s Tibet and Xingjian. The problem with this thinking is that expensive showoff space shuttles to Moon –when almost no one else in the world is doing it for now- won't reduce poverty among the world's largest single concentration of poor people on earth.  In India.

The Face Of India Hidden From The World:  There is a distinct lobby in United States and Britain that played a criminal role in fostering Indian terrorism. It did this by covering up Hindu terrorism against Christians, Muslims, Sikhs and low-caste Indians. Have you seen any of the above pictures published by any American or British newspaper or news service? See
the charred bodies of Indian Muslims burned alive by Hindu mobs in 2002, in the 21st century’s first genocide.

Why Hindu Extremists Invaded Taj Mahal? A group of 10 Hindutva activists-cum-militants belonging to Shiv Sena, a core fundamentalist political outfit, sneaked into the Taj Mahal at Agra on July 24 and performed prayers (puja) within the precincts on Thursday. They were taken into custody and later released without any hurdles.  This is a routine matter for Indian governments when Hindus perform illegal activities. Had Muslims enter the temples and remove the idols and clean up the structure to be able to offer prayers to God, the matter would be different. Hindu outfits, who consider themselves above law and have every right to do anything they please with Muslims and their mosques, have been on a rampage for political reasons with concocted stories against Islam.

Kashmir Shakes India: Something stunning is happening in Indian controlled Kashmir. World media is not giving it projection, Indians are hiding it and Pakistani media is too busy focusing on political turmoil within. The fact is that the Indian federation has been shaken to the core over the developments in Indian held Kashmir in the last few weeks.

G7 Mission Being Accomplished...

Mumbai attacks seen denting business confidence
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/11/27/AR2008112701133.html
By ERIKA KINETZ – 14 hours ago

MUMBAI, India (AP) — The terror attacks that rocked India's financial capital may depress stocks, dampen tourism and slow new investment, but are unlikely to inflict long-term damage on the nation's economy, analysts and business people said Thursday.

"This is a challenge for the government to maintain law and order in the country," said Takahira Ogawa, director of sovereign ratings at Standard & Poor's in Singapore. "At this stage, I don't think there will be any major impact on the macroeconomic or fiscal position of the government."

The attacks, which began Wednesday night when gunmen invaded two posh hotels, a restaurant and several other sites in downtown Mumbai, came as India was struggling to contain fallout from the global financial crisis.

Foreign investors have already pulled $13.5 billion out of the nation's stock market this year, driving the benchmark Sensex index down 57 percent and punishing the rupee. Liquidity has dried up, economic growth is slowing and people are spending less money.

The attacks are "a challenge to the economic resurgence in India," said Habil Khorakiwala, chairman of Wockhardt, an Indian pharmaceutical company.

"The targets identified clearly demonstrate that the intention is to create panic and shatter the confidence in the minds of investors in India and global investors coming to India," he said in a statement. "This war has to be fought together by all across, to protect the safety of Indian people, for economic resurgence and growth of the Indian nation."

A previously unknown Islamic militant group claimed responsibility for the carnage, the latest in a series of nationwide terror attacks over the past three years that have tarnished India's image as an industrious nation galloping toward prosperity.

The gunmen singled out Westerners for punishment and struck two spots — swish Oberoi hotel and the historic Taj Palace & Hotel — at the symbolic heart of Mumbai's growing, global financial class.

Just last week former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger sat with top executives from Goldman Sachs and the Tata Group for a chat about American politics in one of the Taj's many opulent meeting rooms.

On Thursday, that wing of the building was engulfed in flames.

Throughout the day, explosions and gunfire were heard as Indian commandos tried to free hostages trapped by the militants. Officials said 104 people had died and more than 300 were wounded.

Anglo-Dutch food giant Unilever said that a number of senior executives, including group Chief Executive Patrick Cescau and his successor Paul Polman were in Mumbai at the time of the attacks. The company said all were safe and accounted for.

Mumbai's stock market was closed Thursday, and it was unclear when trading would resume.

Vishesh Chandiok, a partner at global consulting firm Grant Thornton, said he was supposed to fly to Mumbai and stay in the Taj Thursday night. His company indefinitely postponed plans to hold a global conference in Mumbai next week.

"It is a shock," he said. "There will be some short-term postponement of people's investment plans, and perhaps people thinking of relocating to Mumbai will reconsider."

But medium- to long-term corporate investment would likely remain on track, he said.

"India is no bigger a risk than anywhere," he said, adding: "Mumbai is a very resilient city. Saturday everything will be running as normal."

Indeed, Mumbai has a long history of terror attacks — and has managed to bounce back from them. A series of bombings in July 2006 killed 187 people.

Chandiok said Indian companies are going to have to take security issues more seriously going forward, and Grant Thornton's India office has already begun a review of its policies.

Manjit Rajain, chairman of Tenon Services, a facilities management and security company whose clients include Accenture, Intel Corp., automaker Maruti Suzuki, the Tata group, and Vodafone, said he was up all night Wednesday, speaking with overseas clients.

"Yes, people will be scared," Rajain said. New investors may balk, but he said most of the companies he works with are too big and well entrenched to consider a hasty exit.

And I'm saying, yes they did send in the proper units

In a speedy fashion as they are designed to do? What is your source for this??

The local police saw the action first and IMMEDIATELY ATTACKED

Trust me, it was about as quick as you can get without pre-empting the terrorist.

Your source??

I have no idea what Haaretz or the MSM is fussing about.

Please show me the source to prove them wrong.

There are no teleporters--at least not in India.

No. That's why we have reporters on the ground from all over the world.

And hostage drama always takes a long time as once they get holed up, you can't go in Jack Bauer style (as sexy as that looks) as they'll just end up killing everyone.

A proper response would have prevented them from holing up.

Live feed from bloggers add to terror coverage

Fri, Nov 28 03:12 AM

Bloggers across Mumbai fed live updates of the action after Islamist gunmen launched waves of attacks in the heart of India's financial capital, highlighting the emergence of citizen jouralism in news coverage.

Some, including a blogger named Vinu, were furiously uploading photos of damage from the attacks that killed at least 101 people and injured 287, with scores of foreigners, including Westerners trapped in luxury hotels.

Images of the attacks also surfaced on photo-sharing website http://Flickr.com Some bloggers provided running descriptions and commentaries from near the action, while others vented emotions.

"I've been tweeting almost all night, too, from Mumbai. Upset and angry and bereft," said business woman Dina Mehta on her blog,  http://www.dinamehta.com/blog.

Twitter, the wildly popular "micro-blogging" site where users communicate with short "tweets" of 140 characters or less, saw intense activity on Thursday. Within five seconds at 0748 GMT, 80 messages were posted. Posts included offers of help for the media and updates on the situation.

"One terrorist has jumped from Nariman house building to Chabad house—group of police commandos have arrived on scene," one tweeter wrote. Twitter came in for some criticism as well in the blogosphere for divulging too many details that could prove helpful to the gunmen holed up in the hotels with their hostages and who may have been been monitoring blog sites. "It's a terrorist strike. Not entertainment. So tweeters, please be responsible with your tweets," said one blogger identified as primaveron@mumbai.

Several local Indian news channels were reported to have carried a live feed of the twitter updates on the Mumbai attacks.

Trying to aid India's weak public services, Mumbai Met Blog, (http://www.mumbai.metblogs.com) posted the telephone numbers of hospitals on its website, encouraging readers to donate blood.

Blogs such as Mumbai Help (mumbaihelp.blogspot.com), offered advice to those with friends and family in the city. "Suggest you avoid calling. Lines are bound to be screwed." New media analyst Cherian George said events such as the Mumbai attacks and the London bombings have spotlighted the emergence of citizen journalism and user-generated content.

"If the event is highly dispersed and affects very large numbers of people, it would be physically impossible for a very large news organisation to keep track of every development,"

George said. "Those kind of events show the great potential for all these user accounts to be valuable to the mainstream media," he said.

A few early challenges to the offical story:

QUESTIONS IN PUBLIC ARENA ABOUT MUMBAI’S NIGHT OF TERROR

1. With death threats against him already on record, why ATS Chief Hemant Karkare exposed himself on the streets of Mumbai as shown by TV clips, putting his safety helmet on? Who shot him? The terrorists or some insider? Had he got his fate sealed with his successes in exposing the hitherto hidden Hindu terrorism side of Hindutva movement in India?

2. How ‘Nariman House’ came into the focus of the terrorists? Why Indian TV Channels refrained from mentioning that the building was a residence of Israeli Jews in India, owned by a Jewish trust, Chabad-Lubavitch, as reported by Jerusalem Post. JP reported: Chabad-Lubavitch fears for the safety of its Mumbai rabbi.

3. Why there was no news of any harm done to either the hostages in the Nariman House or the two five-star Hotels? Why the ‘terrorists’ became so coy in carrying out their ‘mission’. It smacks of some dubious antecedents of the ‘terrorists’.

4. Has the ‘terrorist’ attacks in Mumbai, has some connections with the Delhi elections. It is being reported that BJP was to end up third after Congress and BSP in the elections. If BJP were to do so badly in Delhi elections, they would have to write off their hopes for a come-back in next Lok Sabha elections.

5. Why CNN is connecting a local ‘terrorist’ attack to Al Qaida and making grounds for US/UK/Israel to muscle into the imbroglio as ‘interested parties’, so as to dictate terms on Indian government. Could it be a classic covert operation of entrapment of India?

6. Is India being prepared for a localized war with Pakistan?

Terror Attacks in Mumbai..NSG Operation Underway at 3 places..
http://Indiangalinoz.worldpress.com
indiangalinoz @ 12:29 pm  November 28, 2008

Terrible situation in Mumbai.. Terrorist attacks at major luxury hotels Taj & Oberoi and other places. 127 Killed & 327 injured. The figures may rise. NSG operation is still going on and appears to be in its final stage at 3 places. Some hostages have been freed and some people still seem to be trapped in the hotels & Nariman house. I read on TOI that for the first time in such a situation Indian Government has refused to negotiate with the terrorists. Good to see that the government is not repeating the mistake in 1999 IC-814 hijack at Kandhar.

This time the terrorists have hit on our soil. The 3 top cops have been killed while fighting. The Indian forces won’t leave them. No point of negotiations. Kill these bastards. Why kill innocent lives? If you have an issue raise it with the authorities.

The media has been told not to give much information out for the operations to be effective. They suspect the terrorists are tracking operations via television channels. The TV connections at the hotels were cut when the operations began. There have been some news about these terrorists being fully trained in maritime terrorism techniques and are well equipped.

A room to room battle is on. NSG & Army have a huge task of sanitising all the rooms of Taj & Oberoi. 1 terrorist reported to be still inside the Taj. 17 floors of Oberoi (now known as Trident) Hotel have been cleared. NSG & Army still inside. Forces have surrounded Nariman house. Not much information is being given out on what’s happening and the reason behind the attacks. An unknown group called ‘Deccan Mujahideen’ has taken responsibility but it’s suspected that a major Islamic terrorist outfit is behind these attacks.

Assumptions & theories are being made but the real situation will only be known after the operation is over..

New Development(12:06pm AEST): The TV Crews have been asked to close all their lights and not to show live coverage for time being. It may disturb the operation going on.

Whatever they do, stop reporting about non AK 47's, control rooms, concussion bombs, blonde haired terrorists, and anything else that points to the G7 Operation Pegasus Assassination/False Flag Program!

Six hostages killed at Oberoi Trident: NSG
http://ibnlive.in.com/news/six-hostages-killed-at-oberoi-trident-nsg/79254-3.html
CNN-IBN

Published on Fri, Nov 28, 2008 at 10:15, Updated on Fri, Nov 28, 2008 at 12:34 in Nation section

New Delhi: The National Security Guard (NSG) and the Marine Commandos early on Friday rescued 40 guests from The Trident Hotel (formerly known as Oberoi), 36 hours after they were taken hostage by terrorists believed to be affiliated to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

A heavy exchange of fire between the security personnel and the terrorists was reported soon after the rescue. One terrorist was reportedly killed in the crossfire.

An NSG official said at least six hostages were feared dead.

“Terrorists don’t want to listen to anything. They are not ready to surrender. They are threatening to kill all the hostages,” he said.

At least 100 persons, including a World Bank official, are still suspected to be trapped inside the hotel.

The rescued hostages, many of who are foreign nationals, were swiftly escorted to a private bus, as anxious relatives and family members present outside the hotel heaved a sigh of relief.

Police had to resort to lathi charge to bring the crowd of curious onlookers under control.

The National Security Guard and the Marine Commandos are into the final assault against terrorists at the Oberoi hotel. The assault team has sanitised parts of the Oberoi Trident.

Another NSG official informed CNN-IBN that room intervention operation was underway at the Oberoi, where two more floors are yet to be sanitised.

“A room intervention drill entry is made in every room, following which we check each and every thing without any collateral damage. It takes about four to five minutes,” he explained.

"Final assault is yet to happen," he added.

Meanwhile, Army sources claim that the terrorists were provided commando training by Pakistan Army. They also suggested that the terrorists were provided boats and other logistical support by the Mumbai underworld.

Terrorists had control rooms inside Taj

Mumbai: Terrorists, who struck Mumbai had set up an advance Control Room in the luxury Taj and Trident(Oberoi) hotels and had done prior reconnaisance, a Union Cabinet minister has revealed.

The minister who requested anonymity said that the security agencies were piecing together various leads in the probe on India's worst ever terror strike.

The minister also said the terrorists cannot execute the operation of the magnitude of yesterday's attack without making any recee or setting up a control room type mechanism.

Taj GM's family killed in attack

Amid reports that a likely marine arm of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba may have been involved in the well-planned attacks that left 100 persons dead, the Union Home Ministry said the terrorists chose the sea route and came to the city in boats before spreading out in the metropolis to carry out the sinister action.

The assessment by the Centre as Mumbai continued to be under siege for the second day came amid reports that the leader of the armed terrorists involved in the attack was killed by his own men.

Fresh fire, gunshots at Taj hotel

Vice-Admiral J S Bedi, Flag Officer Commanding, Western Naval Command said his elite Marcos naval commandoes who confronted the terrorists in the Taj hotel seized stun grenades, hand grenades and other sophisticated ammunitions and ATM cards besides US dollars from the terrorists.

The terrorists were also found to be carrying huge loads of almonds, which can be used as food during a long siege.

Specials: Mumbai under seige

"They (the terrorists) came by the sea route," Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Home Ministry M L Kumawat said while replying to questions at a press conference here.

Kumawat said the terrorists, claiming themselves to be from a hitherto unknown Deccan Mujahideen outfit, took the coastal route and landed at Sasoon Dock. From there they changed over to boats to reach the shore, he said.

Up to 80 people have been killed in the attacks
Thu, 27 Nov 2008 6:59a.m.

UPDATED AT 12.20AM

Four gunmen were killed by police and nine suspected terrorists were arrested after a series of attacks in Mumbai, police have said.

"We have shot dead four terrorists and managed to arrest nine suspected terrorists," said P.D. Ghadge, a police officer at Mumbai's central control room.

The violent terrorist attacks in Mumbai have left 80 people dead and at least 250 injured, hostages, including Westerners have been taken at two of the major cities luxury hotels.

“Many people are injured and the toll will go up” said Mr Gadge.

According to the Times of India, which interviewed a hostage who managed to escape, there are 15 hostages, 7 of whom are westerners, inside the Taj Hotel in central Mumbai.

A British witness says those with UK and US passports were being targeted by the attackers.

Top ranking policeman A.N. Roy described the attack as a “terror strike”.

Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patil said 65 army commandos and 200 navy commandos were being rushed to Mumbai to try and restore order and flush out the attackers.

Responsibility for the attacks has been claimed by an unknown outfit calling itself Deccan Mujahideen, which sent an email to news organisations.

The attacks began at 10.33am at Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST), Mumbai’s main station. Ten people were killed in the station alone as gunmen fired shots and threw grenades.

Shootings took place in at least seven different locations and semed designed to concentrate on areas popular with tourists.

The attack sites included the station, the Taj and Oberoi hotels, a hospital and Leopold's Cafe; a restaurant popular with travellers. A car bomb in a taxi killed three people

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed that there are 47 New Zealanders registered as being in Mumbai although it is not known whether any have been killed, injured or taken hostage.

The New Zealand High Commission is trying to make contact with New Zealanders for whom they have contact details.

Sunrise contributor Steve Simms was only two hundred metres away from the Taj Hotel when the attackers struck.

From the safety of his hotel room he described this morning’s events to 3 News.

“There’s terrorists running around inside the Mumbai hotels right now. I’m hearing guns firing all over the place at the moment and there’s a few grenades going off.”

Mr Simms said he had heard reports of an attack on a local hospital.

The attacks have been condemned by President Bush and the EU.

US President-elect Barack Obama condemned a series of attacks in India's financial capital Mumbai on Wednesday in which gunmen killed at least 80 people.

"These coordinated attacks on innocent civilians demonstrate the grave and urgent threat of terrorism. The United States must continue to strengthen our partnerships with India and nations around the world to root out and destroy terrorist networks," said Obama's chief national security spokesperson, Brooke Anderson, said in a statement.

Mr Roy said this morning that police were continuing to battle the gunmen.

“The terrorists have used automatic weapons and in some places grenades have been lobbed, the encounters are still going on [this morning] and we are trying to overpower them,” he said.

The terrorists are still at large in Mumbai.

WATCHING IN REAL TIME WAS MY SOURCE!

Real time doesn't mean anything. You're not getting the whole picture watching just one live feed or skipping around from channel to channel.

Pray tell:  what was the time lag?

I don't have an exact time period. All I know is that multiple sources report the authorities response as slow and inadequate.

Which units were improper?

Read my post. Sending in local police who are notriuosly ineffective and lethargic was a mistake to put it mildly.

How long did it take them to get there?

Too long (obviously).

What is an acceptable time-frame?  2 seconds?  10 minutes?

The time it takes to recognize the severity of the situation and get the units to the areas they are needed. It will vary obviously depending on how far they are from the attack locales and the time it takes them to scramble.

YOU CLAIMED the Indian authorities send in local police?  Really?  which authority?  When?  Let me quote you directly:

"They didn't even send the proper terrorist response unit, just some regular city cops."

Who sent?

What does it matter? Whoever it is in India who's job it is to dispatch cops and SWAT teams to these kinds of situations.

'Cause this mysterious force was lazy and/or stupid?

No mysterious force. I don't know the chain of command in the civilian police forces and military in India. You're the man with the live feeds and apparently an expert  on this. Why don't you tell me? As though it matters.

Why? They're at least as reliable as your unknown and unverifiable live feeds.

Since when do people on an Alex Jones forum put their faith in what the MSM feeds them?

They're not always wrong. As I said they're more reliable in this case than you and your live feeds.

Besides I can indirectly verify what they're saying by using multiple media sources and because I know that a late response from the critical agencies is typical of these black ops style attacks.

I didn't ask for this silly squabble.

I'm all for this going to a separate thread, preferably a trash bin kind of thread. It's clear Mr. Wise has no intention contributing constructively to this thread but rather to pick a fight and argue for argument's sake.

I am not going to respond further to Mr. Wise.

Press Trust of India
Thursday, November 27, 2008, (Mumbai)[NOTE: This story is being scrubbed from the net!]

Terrorists who struck Mumbai had set up advance "Control Rooms" in the luxury Taj and Trident (Oberoi) hotels which was also targeted and did prior reconnaissance executing plans worked "over months", Union Cabinet minister Kapil Sibal said on Thursday night.

Sibal said the unprecedented terror attack in the country's financial capital was planned "over months" and the terrorists were not carrying AK-47 rifles but sophisticated weapons like MP-6.

"The terrorists have identified the targets earlier. Somebody had told them earlier. Enormous planning went into the incident. The terrorists were dropped by a mother ship and travelled in rubber boats which they docked (at Mumbai)," Sibal told a private news channel.

Terrorists were not attacking people at random. It was a well though out plan, Sibal said.

They had targeted certain key police officers even when they were wearing vests and protective head gears, he said, adding the terrorists shot them dead within minutes of their arrival.

As security agencies pieced together various leads in the probe on India's worst ever terror strike, there were reports that a likely marine arm of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba may have been involved in the well-planned attacks that left 125 persons dead.

The Union Home Ministry said the terrorists chose the sea route and came to the city in boats before spreading out in the metropolis to carry out the sinister strike.

The assessment by the Centre as Mumbai continued to be under siege for the second day came amid reports that the leader of the armed terrorists involved in the attack was killed by his own men.
