OK, I have managed to configure a working Ubuntu system, which I originally installed as Ubuntu Hardy Heron, and upgraded to the latest beta.

Once you manage to install all your software, and swat a few of the more glaring bugs, it's an amazing system. Your Internet is faster. No more virii, trojans or backdoors. It's awesome.

And I can do practically anything in Linux that I would have done in Windows, except for a few of the games (which I don't play anymore anyways). Although with Windows emulation through WINE, even that is possible.

Overall, I think every techno-savvy Infowarrior needs to backup his important files, and then install Linux, either as an additional system, or as the primary OS.

I installed Xubuntu 8.10 one day on my laptop and thought it was soooooo slow. I went back to Xubuntu 8.04.1. I'm thinking about putting Linux Mint 5 Fluxbox on here. I liked Linux Mint 4 Fluxbox enough to where I used it constantly for months, but I tried version 5 and found it to be way more functional.
