I was accused of this today, and this just popped out of my mouth, no thought involved....

"Conspiracy theories only exist for those who keep their head in the sand"

The guy just stood there and didn't know what to say, obviously thinking about what I just said to him.

Then he just walked away.

Use it...  spread it around.  (ALEX: Make a bumper sticker. I'll settle for 2%)

Yeah, thanks - I'll keep that in mind.

I've been told by a few at work that I'm awful 'cynical' of Government, hehe.

I tell one or two of them... "I used to be a republican, now I'm just a conspiracy theorist" - and leave it at that. If they ask who I'm voting for, I just say I figure it doesn't matter, as the same people are pulling the puppet strings anyway.

I said this to alotta people recently because they were nagging me to vote.

I refused to vote this time around.

I take the Jack Blood approach and say "If I'm a conspiracy theorist then you're a coincidence theorist".

One of the synonyms of conspiracy is collaboration.

What is so outrageous about pointing out how entities collaborate to achieve goals?

I ask them if they have researched. They eventually say "No." Then I hit them with:

I lost my rag with some idiots today. I was trying to get them to see that the UK data communications bill was not there to help them and asked they sign a petition on the uk gov't site.. most sneered, a couple signed it.. a few lied and said they had when they obviously hadn't... it's a big waste of time when the skin of someone's bubble of comfort is so thick that they refuse to see anything even if their own family was executed in front of them.. "doesn't exist, didn't happen, you're crazy".. f**k these people. let them slip into the shitabyss. there is no help for them unfortunately.

That is very nice.

This thread's almost getting worthy of a sticky, anyone agree? It might be nice to provide some 'intellectual ammo' for use in day to day life.

Found a few good quotes here; maybe you can find a use for them somewhere.

"The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes."
- Benjamin Disraeli, first Prime Minister of England, in a novel he published in 1844 called Coningsby, the New Generation

"Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it."
- Woodrow Wilson, The New Freedom (1913)

"The drive of the Rockefellers and their allies is to create a one-world government combining supercapitalism and Communism under the same tent, all under their control... Do I mean conspiracy? Yes, I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent."

- Congressman Larry P. McDonald, 1976, killed in the Korean Airlines 747 that was shot down by the Soviets.

"The right wing benefited so much from September 11 that, if I were still a conspiratorialist, I would believe they'd done it."
- Norman Mailer, on national patriotism (US News & World Report, February 18, 2002)

"In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way."
- F.D.R.

"This act establishes the most gigantic trust on earth.... When the President signs this act the invisible government by the money power, proven to exist by the Money Trust investigation, will be legalized.... This is the Aldrich Bill in disguise.... The new law will create inflation whenever the trusts want inflation.... From now on depressions will be scientifically created."
- Congressman Charles A. Lindberg Sr.

"Q: Do you approve of the latest credit-tightening moves?
A" It's not my job to approve or disapprove. It is the action of the Federal Reserve."

- Secretary of the Treasury David M. Kennedy, U.S. News & World Report, May 5, 1969

"It [the depression] was not accidental. It was a carefully contrived occurrence.... The international bankers sought to bring about a condition of despair here so that they might emerge as the rulers of us all."

- Congressman Louis T. McFadden, Chairman of the House Banking and Currency Committee

"Centralization of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly."
- Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto, Fifth Plank

i think that replacing the word theory with the word fact does a whole lot of good in term of legitimizing the efforts.

be a conspiracy factualist, as we know the facts, and we know they are true.

its hard to be called nutty when youre just supplying facts !

When I encounter the kneejerk response "Oh thats a conspiracy theory"

I say "I agree, I am not into conspiracy theories either, only factual information."
