I was hoping to get some information on some interesting car badges I noticed.  The top sticker is "City of Los Angeles".  One is easily identified as the masonic rule and compass, but the inverted pentagram particularly caught my eye.  I would greatly appreciate any info on these particular symbols.

And NO the star has nothing to do with Satan as much as many people here would love to say it does.
Hmmm

No sir in this case 2+2 = 4 it does not equal 5 as you ask.

The use of a pentagram is far older than the satanic groups that adopted it for their use. Think of the swastika which was an ancient sign of peace before Hitler took it over.

Masonry is older than Hitler - Hitler is younger than the Hindus so therefore using math like you did. If Hindu is older than Hitler and Hitler is younger than Masonry , Masonry must be younger than Hindu so we see that 2(Masonry) + 2(Hitler) = 4 (Hindu) not 5(Satan)

But 2(Hitler)+ 5(Satan) does equal 7 (very bad person).

Please see- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika  for further examples

I'm not going to argue, because I dont understand this satan character enough to present a solid case. Symbols are tools, and can be used for good or evil works, in the case of freemasons, the fraternity has been around for thousands of years and 2/3's of the world is still living in poverty... Something tells me that what's for the better of "ALL" man kind isnt in their best interest. Definately not a good use of power.

The pentagram was even worn by early Christians to represent the 5 wounds of Christ, but the UPSIDE DOWN pentagram was co-opted from that, much like you see some of today's satanic heavy metal idiots wearing an upside-down cross.

This use of the pentagram is used in history to represent the five elements that make up man: fire, water, air, earth, and psyche.

But it has been associated with Goddess worship for thousands of years.

When it is upside down, beware.

A "symbol" or "badge" is not the only thing that is wrong with the Masons, and maybe the least thing that is wrong with them.

There is a TON of material available online, happy reading!

Dear Chet,

From the nature of your question, I assume that you are a true info-warrior.  Below are brief answers and links to additional sources of information.

The Square is emblematic of the right angle:  our actions as Masons must be square with the Great Light of Masonry (The Holy Bible).  The Compass reminds us to set a boundry line for our conduct.  Also the Square represents the Earthly and the Compass the Heavenly.  Observe that the compass is over the square.  The "G" in the center is an American innovation representing God and geometry.

From my experience in a Masonic Lodge, especially serving as Master in 2004, I experienced Romans 10:17 "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."  All of the salient teachings of Masonry are found between Genesis to Revelation.

From the Masonic Information Center http://www.msana.com/ follow the links to the Masonic Information Center.  They publish a short book titled "Is it True What they Say about Freemasonry?" http://www.msana.com/pubmic.asp#true .  Also get a copy of "The Revolutionary Brotherhood" by Stephen Bullock which is his study of the influence of Freemasonry on the formation of the United States.

Masonry has been one of the pillars of American society from before the beginning.  When men have sought Masonry, society has benefited from Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth promoted by the Fraternity.

PS:  The star used by the Order of the Eastern Star represents the Star of Behlehem;  its orientation signifies the descent of the Divine (Jesus Christ) to our sin-corrupted Earth.

was even worn by early Christians

What about long before that?

Chill out people, pentagrams are nothing more than drawings.

They don't even represent anything in reality.

Regardless of how much the "inventor" of the symbol wants it to, or other people...

You can have them upside down, inside out, tilted slightly to the left and covered in chocolate.
