I was researching these 'torture porn' movies yesterday, though I dunno if I can stomach watching these flicks, even for research purposes.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2007/may/01/gender.world

Quote
And Eli Roth - him again! - packs a host of sex and gore into his three-minute trailer for a potential film called Thanksgiving, including an image of a cheerleader peeling off her clothes while bouncing on a trampoline, before apparently being impaled with a large, gleaming knife - through the vagina, no less.

I mean, WTF. And I saw another 'torture porn' on IMDB with a tag labelled 'Penis-eating'. Again, WTF.  Angry

Also, look at this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0775440/

Quote
When a strange signal pulsates through all cell phone networks worldwide, it starts a murderous epidemic of epic proportions when users become bloodthirsty creatures, and a group of people in New England are among the survivors to deal with the ensuing chaos after.

Mobile phones are turning people into deadly zombies!!!! Do tell, director, are you trying to get a point across with that plotline? Know something the masses still don't know?

It’s all subjective. I happen to enjoy the SAW series as pure entertainment…the horror genre is my entertainment, some people like the soaps and other people like reality TV and I like horror movies. The difference is separating fact from fiction, my comrades

It’s all subjective.

Even if it's kiddie porn?

I had to register just to post in this thread.

The first saw films were great, the rest... meh, I wiill definitely watch this when it comes out on dvd....

I just wanted to say though... to all you pansy bible thumpers worrying about how this film desensitizes people to torture...

You should be far more worried about people being demoralized to torture. I've met so many people that support torture of "terrorists" yet are unable to watch gore porn like this.

Its not people who are desensitized to it that are the problem, It's people who don't understand why its wrong, or that it is wrong that are the problem. This is what I mean when I say demoralized, to be made without morals not to loose faith or the will to fight.

Personally I think being desensitized to gory death is a strength, because when you see it in the real world you are able to accept it for what it is and move to counter it without the shock of HOLY HELL HE'S DYING!!!*barf* Your mind won't explode under the visceral experience of death, the sights, sounds, smells, and aura of it all.

Once again... Its part of that human dichotomy; Being desensitized is one thing, being demoralized is another.

If it comes down to fema camps and a violent revolution you had damned well better be used to seeing gore and death, because you will be unable to function when faced with the gory reality of how frail the human being is. You will be the ones on your knees crying and praying, while others that have learned to deal with this reality early on will be fighting to save themselves and you.

Answer me like how I asked before, if not with this tactics from the movie (I have not thought of something else) how would you punish someone like bush, rockerfeller, rothchild, paulson etc. how to punish them so they repent from the heart, prision and jury and all that, I very much doubt these people wouldn't feel sad for being imprisioned only angry, but what....

You expose their crimes, put them on trial, and put them in jail and seize their assets. No these people will not show any remorse because they enjoy stealing and killing. 23 hours of solitary confinement in a maximum security prison,  extremely limited contact with outside world, generic prison food, being chained up every time they live their cells will have an effect on these criminals. They enjoy their wealth, status, have large egos.  You take away their power, money, and the microphone and these criminals will feel the effects.  Notice how Bill Clinton reacted when he realized that he was no longer relevant and the spotlight was now on Obama.  These narcissistic psychopaths hate to be ignored and isolated and putting them in prison is a fitting punishment.

people are just looking for something to do on halloween, it's got some fans, and will make a couple of bucks.

 look, remember the soprano's finale?

a normal tv show is on for selling commercials, on hbo sopranos was a big deal for people having a reason to purchase it over cinemax or showtime.  but when sopranos ended, they just ended, they finished the storylines, and didn't need to do anything else, since they didn't have to sell commercials, so it just ended.

Saw is just making money, so they make it, put it out, and make some money.  the staff get more for a resume, actors get work, the unions get health insurance, and producers make money.

'nuff said

yeah, i hate this shit.  when I see posters for these movies, I'd literally like to rip them down and complain to the people at the theatre's/video stores that this shit offends the f**k out of me and is not appropriate for young hapless children who might be going to see some disney movie and having their senistive innocent receptive centers (that literarally take in EVERYTHING imprinted with this awfulness. I think being subjected to such shit, will create a world even more populated with psychotic monsters who have no empathy and thus feel n o consequence for inflicting unlimited amounts of pain on their fellow human beings, which I suppose is the idea... to increase the presence of sadistic bastards on earth.  I would be interested in a "profiling" of the type of people who watch this shit.

I don't need to go to see "horror" films in order to feel horrified.  all I need to do is look at the world around me and FEEL it.  It is scary and horrific enough without this f**king bullshit--to the point where I am literally overwhelmed, and I don't need anymore...

The poster for this "saw" movie which is on display at my local theatre is a larger than life profile of the luciferian looking main character who tortures people. Its f**king sickening beyond belief and these people ought to be criminally prosecuted just for making such movies and deported from the country or planet.  They don't belong here.  They don't belong ANYWHERE.  Keep your sadistic perversions to yourselves, you assholes and get your sick shit out of my f**king face.

how bout a reality movie where the makers of the saw movies are subjected to the tortures presented in their films, which I have not seen, but I'm sure are sickening as i can feel the sickening energy that radiates from them.  I wonder if they'd continue thinking it was so f**king cool then to show people suffering and being tortured.  They could make it all a mechanized thing and strap themselves in and just film it.  I'm sure it'd be a box office smash.

.........it's just a movie.

I'll watch them, but they aren't really fun to watch.

Kinda sick stuff in Saw man.  I'm not really into gory movies, but I liked the devils rejects, and house of 1000 corpses.

Death is interesting to watch, even if simulated (in my opinion).
I don't enjoy watching death, but in a way it makes me appreciate my life even more, cause im glad it aint me.

i've wondered how people react to knowing they are going to die.  I wonder how they must feel dying in a painful way, knowing your going to feel that way one day possibly.

Death is a peculiar thing.

I'm more interested in what happends after you die though.  that the real enigma.
