Your uncle must be losing his memory--the National Guard was a draft dodge during the Vietnam war.  There was a huge waiting list in Texas of something like 150,000 names, but Bush's old man got him pushed to the front of the line.

You could even have long hair and be in the Guard--you just had to wear a short hair wig on your weekends of duty.

There is no way a Vietnam vet would have called a weekend warrior a "fighter" in 1969.

Or maybe he thinks Bush is a fighter because Bush was a cheerleader in high school and you had to fight the girls to get them to let you join the squad in those days.

Exactly, I never met an Enlisted man who did not know we were whores, pawns, and peices of meat for the elite. I'm a little suprised to put it mildly.

I remember there was a discussion on the Daily Kos about Tony Snow's death, and one was outraged by the Kossacks saying how good a person he was, and the same person said "you will all say how good a person Bush was when he dies".

And yes, it's a whitewash just like Fahrenheit 9/11. Both portrat Bush as a "bumbling idiot" while conveniently whitewashing the REAL hardcore truth. No talk of NORAD standing down. "You're not supposed to know that." No talk of WTC 7. "Fire caused the building to collapse, so shut up, nutf*ck." No talk of the hijackers being trained on American military bases. "You better shut up and stop asking questions, boy!"

even though I didn't believe  a word he said. He was a great salesman. I wish he had a better product to sell.

He was a very effective frontman for a truly evil administration.

He did his job well. I don't blame him for what he did. The fawning press corps, who acted as court stenographers failing to challenge administration lies, didn't do their job. It wasn't Tony's job to challenge his bosses.

It was Tony's job to pour maple syrup on bovine patties and sell them as pancakes.

Damn if the press and half the Democratic party didn't buy them.

Tony Snow wrote in Christianity Today about how cancer caused him to reflect upon things like salvation and grace.  Most Americans don't have that luxury in their final year.  They're too concerned about wrangling with the insurance company, so their families won't have their houses foreclosed.

Tony Snow had taxpayer funded health care.  All Americans should have the same, so they, too, can enjoy quiet reflection during times of illness, instead of worrying about how the bills will be paid.

W was a good movie.  I wish it would have gone into 9-11 and the econ issues, but it is only a two hour film.  It is pretty good and revealing on the issue of the Iraq War.  It has great acting, and offers ONE take on Bush.  It shows part of the truth.

There are a few great scenes.  One is when Cheney is looking at a map and outlining his vison of a neocon empire, with bases all over Iraq and Iran.  He is asked what is the exit strategy for Iraq, and says "There is no exit strategy.  We stay."

The legal grounds have already been established
for his indictment and arrest, AND there is
someone in the State of Vermont ready, willing
and legally able to do it. 

There is nothing more important to the
