In light of Alex's guest today, Jon G. Kuhl...they are talking about the invasive tracker in your car to tax you for how many miles to go.

I was under the impression that all roads use property tax to fund them.

Is this not correct?

Wouldn't this make the gas tax/road tax a fraud?

I think they are partly funded by property taxes, though I'm not sure. I do know that counties and cities can levy additional taxes to pay for local roads.

Your city uses property taxes to pay for local streets and roads.  Your state uses a tax on gasoline to pay for state highways.  Look at 2nd Column in table

The federal gov levies a 18.4 cents per gallon tax on all gas sold in US.

The bottom line is that we, the people, pay for them with our tax dollars, so that makes them our property, not that of some rent-seeking corporation that has bought off "partnered with" the government.

Ah, ok.  So the interstate system that runs through my large city is federal government owned but the state pays for it via tax payer dollars for repairs and additions.

Geo, it appears that you are right.  The majority if not all roads come from taxpayer money which means that it's owned by us.

Why are we letting them put red light cameras on our roads?   Angry
