I'm all for humane treatment, but this just shows PETA has ABSOLUTELY ZERO regard for human life. PETA needs to just die.

PETA Urges Ben & Jerry's To Use Human Milk

POSTED: 2:21 pm EDT September 23, 2008
UPDATED: 10:28 pm EDT September 23, 2008

VERMONT -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals sent a letter to Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, cofounders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to replace cow's milk they use in their ice cream products with human breast milk, according to a statement recently released by a PETA spokeswoman.

"PETA's request comes in the wake of news reports that a Swiss restaurant owner will begin purchasing breast milk from nursing mothers and substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves," the statement says.

PETA officials say a move to human breast milk would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and their babies on factory farms and benefit human health.

"The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense," says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. "Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."

In a statement Ben and Jerry's said, "We applaud PETA's novel approach to bringing attention to an issue, but we believe a mother's milk is best used for her child."

September 23, 2008

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, Cofounders

Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.

Dear Mr. Cohen and Mr. Greenfield,

On behalf of PETA and our more than 2 million members and supporters, I'd like to bring your attention to an innovative new idea from Switzerland that would bring a unique twist to Ben and Jerry's.

Storchen restaurant is set to unveil a menu that includes soups, stews, and sauces made with at least 75 percent breast milk procured from human donors who are paid in exchange for their milk. If Ben and Jerry's replaced the cow's milk in its ice cream with breast milk, your customers-and cows-would reap the benefits.

Using cow's milk for your ice cream is a hazard to your customer's health. Dairy products have been linked to juvenile diabetes, allergies, constipation, obesity, and prostate and ovarian cancer. The late Dr. Benjamin Spock, America's leading authority on child care, spoke out against feeding cow's milk to children, saying it may play a role in anemia, allergies, and juvenile diabetes and in the long term, will set kids up for obesity and heart disease-America's number one cause of death.

Animals will also benefit from the switch to breast milk. Like all mammals, cows only produce milk during and after pregnancy, so to be able to constantly milk them, cows are forcefully impregnated every nine months. After several years of living in filthy conditions and being forced to produce 10 times more milk than they would naturally, their exhausted bodies are turned into hamburgers or ground up for soup.

And of course, the veal industry could not survive without the dairy industry. Because male calves can't produce milk, dairy farmers take them from their mothers immediately after birth and sell them to veal farms, where they endure 14 to 17 weeks of torment chained inside a crate so small that they can't even turn around.

The breast is best! Won't you give cows and their babies a break and our health a boost by switching from cow's milk to breast milk in Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Tracy Reiman

Executive Vice President

all peta ever does is ruin the way of lives for all the non city folk.peta is mostly made of city people who look at all those animals as pets.they dont look at the animals as food and when the animal is oldand is to be processed into something else peta says its inhumane and lets that particular animal die a slow death not being able to help themselves starving to death in feilds because they cannot walk to the haybales.that kinda thing.

i agree with alot of the things they say on animal testing.i think animal testing is wrong unless it is a clown kind of animal. i hate clowns those are the worst kind of animal there is.(i am segwaying into a joke that probobly not that funny)
i cried when i saw the peta video with the kitten with a usb port in its head. then i wondered what would happen if i hooked that kitty into my computer.

I have these friends that march at all the PETA marches and go crazy about animal stuff, but they have for years used pharmaceuticals like Paxil etc> which IMO is where some of the most heinous crimes against animals occurs: in the primate research centers where they peel back live brains to study prozac, paxil, hormones and heroin.  Living hell for these creatures.  Absolutely unconscionable.
And the hypocrisy of the Prozac crowd getting vicious towards the meat/milk eaters is absurd.

That said, human milk is mighty good!

It's a wonder PETA didn't suggest soy milk, considering how it seems PETA is in bed with Monsanto and loves Monsanto's GMO soybeans.

This is just another step in the brainwashing that is meant to trivialize human life and raise every non-human, whether animate and inanimate, above us. You wonder why they hate religions like Islam and Christianity, and tell you these religions hate human life because they stipulate harsh punishments for certain infringements on property rights or personal safety or the social fabric, while these very religions preach and teach the sanctity of property rights, personal safety and encourage a social fabric that preserves those rights, and honor humans above all of God\'s creation?

Animal rights? Right!

But not what you, anti-humans, decide. We respect ourselves enough to believe in principles of god-given rights, and not NWO privileges. No amount of PETA or other NWO tentacles of corporate fascist control freaks can convince us otherwise.

MIRACULOUS ANIMAL PRODUCT: MILK

There is instruction for you in cattle. From the contents of their bellies, between that which is to be eliminated (from the animal\'s body) and (its) blood, We give you pure milk to drink, easy for drinkers to swallow. (Surat an-Nahl: 66)

The formation of milk is a miracle. It is thought-provoking that a pure and delicious drink is produced between an animal\'s blood and that which is to be eliminated from its body.

With respect to its benefits for children\'s and adults\' health, milk\'s content is worth analyzing. Casein, a protein, gives milk its white color. Observing a drop of milk under a microscope, one sees tiny fat particles floating. Apart from casein and fats, milk consists of lactose (dissolved milk sugar) and several vitamins essential for health and minerals (e.g., phosphorus and calcium). Calcium is an essential constituent of bones and teeth 7

As the foregoing clarifies, milk is a very beneficial nourishment that is rich in many essential nutrients. Allah creates milk for humanity as a blessing so that people can ponder upon it and appreciate His Might. It is also a blessing that will be, by Allah\'s Will, available in Paradise.

An image of the Garden promised to those who have fear of Allah. In it there are rivers of water that will never spoil, rivers of milk whose taste will never change, rivers of wine delightful to all who drink it, and rivers of honey of undiluted purity. In it they will have fruit of every kind and forgiveness from their Lord. Is that like those who will be in the Fire timelessly, for ever, with boiling water to drink, which lacerates their bowels? (Surah Muhammad: 15)

Maybe they need to console themselves with a nice bucket of chicken...

Besides ask any dairy farmer, the milk cows suffer immense teat pain if they are not milked, and are very relieved to get their overflowing milk out.  That is why if a dairy farmer ever misses a milking you'll see his dairy cows out and mooing like crazy outside the milk barn.

That's sick.  Tottaly sick. I mean shit.
Here's what it is.  It's pretty sick.  Milk is a human food.  Babies drink milk.  ok.  You can also consider your muscle meat.  That's cannabalism.  They are persuading people to become cannibals.

Cows wouldn't exist if they weren't being used by humans.

I'm for the ethical treatment of animals, but the only reason food animals exist is to provide food--would the PETA people rather not give them a chance at life, a chance to exist at all?

I agree that they should be given a life worth living, a pasture instead of a cramped factory cage, and I eat eggs free-ranging chickens rather than caged ones, but they need to have some common sense about their actions.

Mink, however, is another matter.  They're wild animals who find their food by being extremely active, so they break their legs to keep them inactive so they don't damage their fur.

I consider anyone who wears mink human trash.

EW!
ok, confession time, a long time ago, after the birth of my first daughter, I had gotten up early and made coffee, I went to the fridge and discovered to my horror there was no half&half or milk for it, I DESPISE black coffee. Anyway, there was a bottle of breast milk, after a few minutes of deliberation, I grabbed it and poured some in to my coffee.
*note to self.....don't do that again.

We bred cows, we didn't breed grizzly bears, or mink.  Cows wouldn't exist if we weren't raising them for food.  Their ancestors didn't even survive.

PETA even propagandizes against raw milk. PETA are nothing but shills for the "low fat" eugenics agenda. Follow the money. Every organization pushing the low fat lie are or were funded by the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. PETA's just Rockefeller scum. That's why PETA pushed for people to eat tofurkey on Thanksgiving instead of turkey. They gotta get the sheeple eating Monsanto's GMO soy.

Follow the money indeed. PETA has received funding from the Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, and "PETA Kills Animals" is a side project of the Center for Consumer Freedom, a front for Monsanto which is a front for the Rockefellers. Pretty ingenious for the Rockefellers to own both phony sides of the debate.

Hmmm...now they're really thinking of us as cattle.

The thing that really bothers me is the sanitation issue. Are these women screened for diseases? Drugs? Do they realize breast milk changes as the needs of the baby changes? The taste will also change based on what the mother eats so there's no consistency in flavor. As a mother who breast feeds, I'd never sell my milk to a vendor. What mother in their right mind would take food from their child and sell it?

On a side note: PETA should be thrown off the planet...they're already there mentally.
