I am convinced that the election will be suspended, but... this isn't it, yet. It just means he's suspending his campaign schedule.

For now...

Of course I would hope I was wrong, but dont forget that Bush is already slotted in to make a 'surprise' announcement to the people 9 ET...

This could just be him trying to use the bully pulpit to tell Congress it's his way or the highway.  How much teeth he will put behind the bark... I don't know.

They've already stated the reason for the announcement... he's going to try to sell everyone on his "more money for the rich" plan.

Instead of the deceptive headline, why not something like " Debate cancelled are the elections next".
Or something like that.

I went off about the deceptive headlines yesterday.  What really bothers me most is how willing people are to believe anything they read or hear without giving it any critical thought.

Yes.  We have enough information to deal with as it is without deceptive and misleading subject titles.

McCain to attend debate
John McCain will debate Barack Obama as planned tonight, his campaign announced. McCain said earlier this week he would bow out of the first presidential debate if a deal had not been reached on a $700 billion bailout plan for U.S. financial institutions. By midday, McCain's campaign said he believed enough progress had been made for him to participate.

I can see why McCain didn't want to debate right now... simply because none of them have an answer out of this mess.

Amazing anyone would believe he did out of some higher motive.
