not new statement. but nice

President of South Ossetia puts under question objectiveness of West at Geneva talks

Read it in Russian

President of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity said an allegation of the Georgian authorities that Russia brought about a war in South Ossetia is the highest form of cynicism, a direct form of information sabotage and distortion of facts.  “We face it very often in the Post-Soviet space. They started doing in the Baltics, when monuments to the liberator soldiers, who had saved the Baltic nations from annihilation, were destroyed. Nowadays we see distortion of the reality not only  from the Georgian side, but from European states, which escape a direct and fair dialog and distort facts”, he added.

Kokoity stressed South Ossetia did not trust representatives of international organizations visiting the republic. “When the PACE came, they arrived here four hours late. They were in South Ossetia only within an hour spending the rest time in Georgian villages. For some reason they look for some wounds at the aggressor. They did not want to care about pain of the people, who were subjected to aggression, people who are being killed,” he noted, explaining such behavior of western delegates by attempts of states, which armed Georgia to cover up traces.

“Persons who think that the big Russia attacked the little Georgia have a very poor knowledge of geography. They did not know the little Georgia attacked smaller South Ossetia and Abkhazia and wanted to kill all the people in these republics, most distressingly, nobody discusses these facts nowadays,” the president stated. Speaking on the summit related to the settlement of the Georgian-Abkhazian and the Georgian-Ossetian conflicts, being held in Geneva, Kokoity noted, the South Ossetian side was sure in the domination of double standards during the discussion as the matter of the communication experience with European organizations.

“Talking about the peace in Caucasus and the strength in Europe in general we should abandon such policy, we should listen to each statesman rather than to decisions imposed from outside. I said previously to European parliamentarians that they already had the final document on the table. Even if they did not visit South Ossetia they would have had the final statement, in order to spite the little South Ossetia because Russia stood to its defense, because it defended internationally accepted democratic values, which mean human rights and the rights of ethnic minorities and mostly the right to life that they wanted to take away from us,” Kokoity concluded.

MOSCOW, October 31 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Foreign Ministry denied on Friday claims by the U.S. defense secretary that large amounts of Russian nuclear weapons had been stolen or misplaced.

Speaking in Washington on Tuesday at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Robert Gates expressed concern that some Russian nuclear weapons from the former Soviet arsenal may not be fully accounted for.

"I have fairly high confidence that no strategic or modern tactical nuclear weapons have leaked beyond Russian borders," Gates said.

"What worries me are the tens of thousands of old nuclear mines, nuclear artillery shells and so on, because the reality is the Russians themselves probably don't have any idea how many of those they have or, potentially, where they are," he added.

"Such allegations are entirely groundless," the ministry's press and information department said in a statement.

"Despite all the difficulties that our country faced in the early 1990s, Russia maintained very high standards of ensuring the safety and physical protection of its nuclear arsenals," the statement said.

"In this respect, we would like to reiterate that in a joint statement on nuclear security signed by the Russian and U.S. leaders in Bratislava in 2005 both sides acknowledged that the protection of nuclear facilities in both countries meets modern norms and requirements," it said.

In his remarks, Gates also supported the necessity of new talks with Moscow on further strategic arms reductions, which have been advocated by both current U.S. presidential candidates, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama.

Negotiated and signed in 1991, the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) is scheduled to expire on December 5, 2009. Under that accord, the United States and Russia have significantly reduced their number of nuclear warheads and delivery vehicles.

Many experts believe that if START expires without replacement verification measures, the two countries will be "flying blind" in their nuclear relations.

Russian military retakes Georgia border village
13 Dec 2008, 1748 hrs IST, REUTERS

TBILISI: Russian troops returned on Saturday to a disputed Georgian village they vacated a day earlier near breakaway South Ossetia, pushing back Georgian security forces.

Georgian police said between 500 and 600 Russian soldiers were in the village of Perevi, close to the de facto border with South Ossetia.

Russian forces pulled back in October from a buffer zone adjacent to South Ossetia after a five-day war in August, but kept soldiers in Perevi, which sits on the Georgian side of the de facto border. The troops pulled out of the village on Friday.

Georgian police moved in behind them, but the Russians were back by nightfall. Television pictures showed Russian soldiers unloading sandbags from a truck.

Georgia has condemned the Russian presence in Perevi as a violation of the ceasefire brokered by the European Union after the war, when Russia intervened in its former Soviet neighbour to halt a Georgian assault on pro-Russian South Ossetia.

EU ceasefire monitors, who took credit on Friday for the Russian withdrawal, confirmed Russian forces were in the village on Saturday, but could not say how many. Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili said police had withdrawn.

"The Russians kicked the police out of Perevi this morning," he said. South Ossetia accused Georgia of violating the ceasefire by deploying special forces to the boundary.

"About 60 special forces soldiers were deployed to the village of Perevi directly on the border with South Ossetia," Interfax news agency quoted a South Ossetian defence ministry official as saying.

"EU monitors are turning a blind eye." Pro-Western Georgia welcomed news that the Russian troops had moved 3 km (1.8 miles) east across the boundary on Friday.

The village sits on a small mountain road entering South Ossetia from the west. Some of its 1,100 residents had left. South Ossetia claims the village as its own. But the EU monitors say it clearly lies outside South Ossetia's de facto borders.

The monitors said Friday's pullback followed discussions with the Russian foreign ministry and military.

Utiashvili said a delegation of European diplomats visiting the area on Saturday was barred from entering the village.

Russia has recognised South Ossetia and another breakaway region, Abkhazia, as independent states backed by Russian military protection.

The two regions threw off Tbilisi's rule in the early 1990s. Russia said it intervened in Georgia to save civilians from a Georgian military bid to retake South Ossetia after months of skirmishes and Georgian allegations of Russian provocation. The West condemned Moscow's response as disproportionate.

Russia demands Nato exercises in Georgia are stopped

London Telegraph
Friday, April 17, 2009

Russia is demanding the postponement of Nato exercises in Georgia saying they are a “provocation”.

Moscow believes that the planned exercises in May “can only complicate a situation in the region which is not simple to start with”.

A spokesman said the plans were “absurd” in the light of tensions with the breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia – which Russia has recognised as independent – as well as opposition protests against Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili.

“We will send a letter to Nato calling for them (the exercises) to be postponed, at least for the time being,” he added.

Earlier Nato announced that it would hold exercises in Georgia from May 6 to June 1 to improve co-operation between the alliance and partner countries.

Mediators: Russia quits peace talks with Georgia
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jEKgLM0dq0NE7hrY-rmjpoLx2l6QD988Q9BG0
By ALEXANDER G. HIGGINS – 3 hours ago

GENEVA (AP) — Peace talks aimed at healing rifts from the Russia-Georgia war broke down Monday when the delegations from Russia and Georgia's two separatist provinces refused to take part, mediators said.

"The co-chairs strongly regret the walkout by the Russian participants at the beginning of the fifth session of the Geneva discussions today," said a statement by the United Nations, the European Union and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

The round of talks scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was supposed to be the first meeting since February between Georgia, Russia and Russia's allies from the breakaway Georgian regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The mediators said the Abkhazian delegation refused to attend the talks. The South Ossetians, who came for the beginning, then walked out, followed by the Russians.

It is good, I some times watch Russia Today on the TV.

They do not just put Alex on once in a while. RT will show the the Tea Parties, End The Fed Ralliies, and talk about Ron Pauls Bill to Audit the Fed and described it as "the biggest story this summer in america".

Over here the BBC is consistently trying to undermine the credibility of modern Russia, making out that it is not a real democracy.

What they really mean is that they can not buy up all the media in Russia and control the voters by having control of the information feeds. They had a very good attempt to take over Russia by funding the so called Oligarchs, people who mysteriously could borrow from a Bank, enough money to buy up all the shares of privatised industry.

Over here in the so called "West" the public have some false idea that they are living in the "Free World", when all that really means is the Drug / Corp / Banksters are running riot, buying up our media to control the populations voting. Seems that "Free Press" is just a charter for the evil ones to buy everything for control which is real power.

God Bless Russia Today.
Its not perfect, but its not Murdock'd !

Russia has a pretty heavy Christian population, which is probably why they're a lot like America used to be. (At least when it comes to common sense)

I am aware of the Russian chrisitian population, but apart from admiring the beautiful churches, I'm afraid I know next to nothing about the church in Russia. I did observe that despite an aggresively atheist state that christianity seemed to largely survive the communist years, although now and then on RT I see some the interior of some poor church was vanadalised and robbed during those dark days. Cant be to critical as Henry VIII did the same thing in England looting and robbing churches.

like :

Anyways, Putin is not perfect, and I find it hard to admit, but maybe the Russians are the good guys in this upside down world.

Quietly, Europe Blames Georgia for the War, Putin Says
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/13/world/europe/13russia.html?hp

MOSCOW — Russian Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin said on Wednesday that Europeans increasingly hold Georgia responsible for last year’s war in the Caucasus but are afraid to admit it publicly because of pressure from the United States.

On his first post-war visit to Abkhazia, one of the two separatist territories at the center of last year’s war with Georgia, Mr. Putin pledged 15 billion rubles, or about $470 million, to build a Russian military base and reinforce the boundary between Abkhazia and Georgia proper.

Georgia’s Foreign Ministry reacted with anger to Mr. Putin’s visit to the enclave, which Russia and Nicaragua — alone in the world — recognized along with the other separatist territory, South Ossetia, as an independent state after the war.

“Putin’s ‘visit’ to the occupied territory of a sovereign country is yet another provocation,” the ministry said in a statement, Reuters reported. The ministry added that the trip was “yet another attempt to destabilize the situation and escalate tension in the Caucasus region.” Mr. Putin’s visit came on the heels of the first anniversary of the brief war in Georgia. Russia’s Federal Security Service already has 800 border guards deployed in South Ossetia and 1,000 in Abkhazia, and by the end of the year it will have 3,000 soldiers stationed in the two territories.

Interfax: Abkhaz leader orders destruction of Georgian ships violating sea border

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-09/02/content_11984183.htm

www.chinaview.cn  2009-09-02 14:28:33

MOSCOW, Sept. 2 (Xinhua)
-- The leader of Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia, Sergei Bagapsh, on Wednesday ordered the destruction of Georgian ships entering the rebel region's claimed territorial waters, the Interfax news agency reported.

"I have issued an order to our navy to destroy Georgian ships illegally crossing the Abkhaz marine border. This step has been prompted by unending piracy on Georgia's part," Bagapsh was quotedas saying.

"I would like to emphasize that the matter involves exclusively the Abkhaz Navy. No Russian naval forces have been employed or will be employed to resolve this issue," he added.

The rebel region's foreign minister, Sergei Shamba, also said Abkhazia was ready to use force after Bagapsh had given the order, the RIA Novosti news agency reported.

A Veteran Speaks-The Big Lie

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conservatives' Blind Support of 'Our Troops'
In Defense of the Big Lie

by Kevin Copenhagen

Monday night I attended the "Stand Up America" rally in Houston hosted by the North Houston Tea Party Patriots. And while I feel the event was a resounding success, I couldn’t help but get a feeling of despair among 15,000 patriotic Americans who truly do want to see our country restored to the Constitutional Republic under which it was formed. These are all good, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth people who simply want government out of their lives as every American should. And I couldn’t agree more.

No, it’s not that feeling of hope and determination to see our country freed from the grips of corruption and the abject dismissal of the public will by our "elected" leaders which caused me such despair. It was the fact that while so many of these great Americans are so right on so many issues, they have for the most part, fallen hook, line and sinker for the Big Lie. These are the red-blooded Americans who have drunk the "Islamo-fascist" Kool-Aid served up by the main stream media, especially Fox News, and created by the Pentagon, NGOs, "think-tanks" and intelligence agencies of the world. This delusion is akin to the left-wing liberals and "progressives" who drank and still consume the "Change we can believe in" lie which swept Obama into office last year.

We were told more than 8 years ago that 9/11 changed everything. We have largely bought that lie, collectively, as a nation and because of this, let the powers that be run roughshod over our Constitution, our rule of law and our way of life all in the name of "security" and defending our homeland from the "evil doers" of the world. From this lie, has risen in this country a fervent patriotism and attitude that America can do no wrong in the world. We’re the "good guys" after all.

So while all these Tea Partiers, Red-Staters and conservative Republicans are right on so many issues such as ending the Federal Reserve system, abolishing the income tax, enforcing states rights, the global warming hoax, blocking Cap & Trade and the abysmal government "health-care" reform, and massively reducing the size and scope of our federal bureaucracy, they are dead wrong on their unflinching and unwitting support of "our troops." They still believe that "you’re either with us, or you’re with the terrorists." What a slick sales (con) job that line was...

Now don’t get me wrong here. As an honorably discharged Army veteran who served four years for his country, I know many people will get offended by that last statement, so let me explain further.

If you’ve ever read George Orwell’s 1984, you know that, "Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia." This seems eerily similar to the lie that we’ve been sold about the terrorist threat to our country. The lie that we need a "100-year war" because this enemy doesn’t abide by the "traditional" rules of war (whatever THAT means), and that we need to take the battle to them so we don’t end up with a "mushroom cloud" over here, is just that: a LIE. Perhaps a quick review of history will drive home this point:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.

~ Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister

Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.

~ Hermann Goering, President of the Nazi Reichstag

It is precisely this "Islamo-fascist/War on Terror" lie which is propagated by not only right-wing media personalities such as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly among many others, but an increasing amount of left-wing media talking-heads like Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow as well now that "their guy" is in power. The war is suddenly OK. "Obama is just doing his best to clean up Bush’ mess. There’s only so much he can do, you know." Yeah, right.

Well, my fellow patriotic Americans, it’s not OK.
It’s not OK that we went into Iraq, killed over 1.3 million innocent civilians, polluted their soil and water with depleted uranium munitions, displaced millions of other Iraqis, and have turned their country into a third-world cesspool so that we could control their oil. It’s not OK that we went into Afghanistan so that we could re-invigorate the opium trade (which had been all but decimated by the Taliban), keep the black market money flowing to fund the CIA, ISI, MI6, Mossad, etc., and ensure record crops of poppy fields while "our troops" stand guard. Pat Tillman was about to come home and expose it all until he was murdered by his own government.

So, my fellow Americans, please understand that when you blindly say you "support the troops" because that’s what good Americans do, you are only supporting the individual and NOT their command or their mission. For it has been proven that their mission is a lie, a fraud, unconstitutional and illegal. Support the individual and pray for their safety – not only from our "supposed" enemies who are merely defending their own homeland, sovereignty, property and natural resources, but from those in our own government who use them merely as instruments in their sick and twisted game of global empire and world domination. As Henry Kissinger, one of the long-time establishment’s "elite" minions and another questionable winner of the Nobel "Peace" Prize, so bluntly put it, "Military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy." This is the same attitude of your leaders in DC.

Yes, it is sad that our troops have been reduced to the heavy hand enforcers of western "democracy" under a corrupt and tyrannical American government. Our troops are now nothing more than the strong arm of the global mafia: the cabal of central banks and greedy corporations of the world working in concert to rob the wealth of nations and impoverish and enslave the good people of the world. These criminals own the entire military industrial complex, to include the "troops" and these are the same people pushing hard for their "global government" which will be pushed further down the path to realization in Copenhagen, Denmark this December under the guise of once again, "saving humanity from itself."

These so-called "elites" are the true destroyers of humanity and all that is good in the world and they have the nerve to use false patriotism and wrap themselves in the American flag as they send our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and fathers and mothers off to fight and die in unjust wars in foreign lands. Not to protect and defend our Constitution, our ideals, our morals and our way of life, but to ensure the corporate takeover of the world; to enable the raping and pillaging of sovereign lands not for the gain of world peace or "democracy," but of PROFIT and greater and greater power; and to lead humanity towards the neo-feudal system which has been their dream and ultimate end-game for decades, if not centuries.

If nothing else in my life, I have learned one very important lesson: if you want to get to the truth about anything, you need to only figure out two things:

1. Who is benefitting from this?

and

2. Follow the money.

By simply taking the time and doing your own research, your due diligence and your duty not only as an American citizen, but as a member of all humanity, you will always come to the truth. As it was written in Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it shall be given to you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you."

So I put this challenge out to ALL my fellow patriots, freedom-fighters, conservatives, libertarians and liberals alike: Seek the TRUTH and ye shall find.

Reject the corporate-controlled mainstream media, especially the NeoCon conservative talk show hosts around the country. Always remember this. You could eat the most beautiful, juicy and delicious apple in the world, but if there is just one drop of cyanide in that apple, it will most likely kill you. That’s the essential purpose of the corporate-controlled media. They are not there to inform or educate, they are there to indoctrinate. They are there to perpetuate the false left/right paradigm so as to divide and conquer a nation. They are there to lie, spin, distort and stretch reality to fit a pre-determined agenda. They are controlled ultimately by the same people, corporations, and monied interests who control the Federal Reserve banking system which is destroying our country by design. It’s all about control and manipulation of our minds, our thoughts, our beliefs, our attitudes, and thus, our actions.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the conservative minds in this country have fallen victim to the manipulation of the Big Lie, which is the "War on Terror." It’s no more than the modern incarnation of the "War on Poverty," the "War on Cancer," or the "War on Drugs." All of which, I might add, have been colossal failures while lining the pockets and increasing the power of the authoritarian establishment which has benefitted from them all.

Ultimately, all the belief in the Big Lie will do is cripple the patriot movement as the outrage against the Democrats and the damage they’ve done to our nation will increase support for the Republicans. And the fake, NeoCon "conservatives" will once again be swept into power. All the while, the hundred-year war rages on as one puppet of the establishment replaces another. Quit buying into the Big Lie. You’re smarter than that.

And ask yourself the next time you blindly cheer in support of our troops, "who is benefitting from this?" Is it the country and citizens of Iraq or Afghanistan? Is it the believers of the essentially peaceful Islamic religion? Is it our troops coming home maimed, traumatized, poisoned and in body bags? Or is it Halliburton, KBR, BP Amoco, Exxon Mobil, CACI, Dyncorp, Blackwater, L3 Communications, Raytheon, Titan, GE, McDonnell Douglas and so on and so on....? Is it our federal government who has since 2001, gutted our Constitution in a power grab never before seen in American history? Who has benefitted? Follow the money. Seek the TRUTH. And if you really do support the troops, fight, with everything you have to end these illegal wars of aggression and empire-building so that we can bring them home to do what they’re sworn to do: protect our borders from foreign invasion, and protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America!

"Liberty has never come from government.  Liberty has always come from the subjects of government. The history of liberty is a history  of resistance. The history of liberty is a history of limitations of government power, not the increase of it." http://sedm.org/
