so.. I was wondering... Whats the Definition of a Reliable Source?

- when thinking of checking sources and using sources as valid referrals for properly documenting something/establishing something as an actual fact...

what is a valid reliable source?

well, its not as simple as there being a list of reliable sources...lol

basically, it is a judgement call, say we had one source, we would see if we could cross reference it with anything, check other information that source has provided, things like that, i mean its not like reliable sources have a holographic sticker of approval  Cheesy

yup, loads of things, the date of the source as well in relation to the event.

bottom line, you can only really even trust your senses most of the time, because they will trick you some of the time...

HiQ, i would suggest looking into Epistemology, and then maybe objective thought and empirical knowledge. (this is not meant to deny subjective thought or faith in general, just that in terms of validating sources as a science, one side is more relevant than the other)

mm ok thx

but so far a source that is reporting it's data within a somewhat brief timeframe of the reported on incident that preferably is crossreferable with other data (with more to it than that and without this being a 'set-in-stone' definition) - yea? Tongue
