This was kind of brought up in another thread, but i want to expand on it. After browsing and observing many different forums, i be live that these hardcore conspiracy theorists are a cult. Now a CTer is not simply limited to believing in 9-11 conspiracies or FEMA stuff...this is a general term for i'd say 90% of the people on these forums (prison planet included). Here are some observations i've noticed. 1. There's no reasoning with them. They believe what they want to believe and there is no way to change their minds. Sure you can hold a debate, if you're the type of person who enjoys rambling on and debating, but their mind is generally made up about the things they believe in. Generally they will not even accept that not EVERYTHING is controlled by the government (something i'll get to later). It's either "i'm right the government is evil, if you don't believe me your a 'sheeple'" Is this not the mind set of a cult member? or Religious fanatic? I've seen people who, even when confronted with logical arguments, can't even say "ok, i can see how you can believe that" and leave them alone. They remind be of devout religious people because there's nothing you can say that will change either mind about their life beliefs. 2. They shun anyone who doesn't agree with them 100% that the NWO is bla bla bla..This is one of the most easily provable theories. Simply read any prison planet thread with >20 replies and i guarantee that you will see at least one person make some kind of comment like "brainwashed, sheep, ect" about people who don't buy conspiracy theories. This is the same behavior as a cult or religious group, because they call people that don't believe them "naysayers" or "heretics" stuff like that. It's hard to take CTers seriously, when they immediately resort to name calling against anyone who disagrees with their views. 3. They blame the government for EVERYTHING. This falls into the realm of impossibility. Certain things like AIDS, yes i be live that's government made and manipulated. But Cters blame the government for literally, EVERYTHING. They even go so far as to blame the government any time there's a natural disaster like an earthquake!! come on people, that's just not possible. IF the government was even half as powerful as you believe they are, the NWO would be here already. Any entity that powerful wouldn't waste time with diplomacy or use the illusion of a free world, they'd simply take over and kill anyone in their way. Lets think of this, if the government is really this powerful, why can't they beat some iraqis in a cave after 6 years? Seems to me this almighty government isn't to impressive if they can't lock down a country that's probably not a hell of a lot bigger than texas. Basically after a lot of thought and observation, i agree that these hardcore CTers are more like cultists then anything. There are some who are cool and will let you have your opinion and not bitch at you if you don't belive all the NWO stuff, but a lot of them simply disregard everything you say, once you say you don't belive the NWO is all powerful and controlling everything. Thanks for your thoughts Timiat. Well said. I just went to the bathroom and had a BM. The NWO definitely did not control THAT.

Dude, YOU are the one who isn't paying close enough attention. And yes, government IS responsible for pretty much everything evil - if not directly, then indirectly by maintaining a fascist system/infrastructure.
I suggest you do a little reading into the idea of liberty.

This is the same behavior as a cult or religious group, because they call people that don't believe them "naysayers" or "heretics" stuff like that. It's hard to take CTers seriously, when they immediately resort to name calling against anyone who disagrees with their views.
I think you find extremists everywhere. Lets think of this, if the government is really this powerful, why can't they beat some iraqis in a cave after 6 years? Seems to me this almighty government isn't to impressive if they can't lock down a country that's probably not a hell of a lot bigger than texas.
It is not that simple, and they are not after certain Iraqi's responsible for 9/11, it's way beyond that, half way through the war on terror the US decided to bring down Saddam. Now the coalition is trying to prevent a civil war between 2 islamic militia's. That's why the coalition cant just leave, because that would demonstrate an even bigger lack of the value for human life. (atleast that's what i am told here in the mainstream media (dutch); also in the coalition). Modern warfare isn't like the old days from napoleon where they just conquered lands... How long did it take the US to bring down the army of Saddam, it was a matter of days, and that does show power. Its the aftermath thats really complicated.

1. The same could be said about those who don't believe in CTs and just chew on the propaganda.
2. If that was true, I probably wouldn't have any friends/family.
3. Some may, I don't. Try not to generalize the theorists into one group, another mistake.
I'm trying to understand what you mean by iraqis in a cave. It was said that OBL and Al-toilet were in caves in Afghanistan, I raq is a different country. If you haven't watched, or better, read 1984, I suggest it, it may shed light on this idea that there always needs to be a shadowy/un-defeatable enemy to fight.
If you look hard enough, you'll find we are normal people, thanks for listening.
p.s. There are assholes everywhere, even in the truth movement.

Timiat -I'd like to ask you:
1. Do you accept Operation Northwoods existed?
2. Do you accept Israel attacked the USS Liberty in 1967 and that LBJ ordered it covered-up?

I have to agree with the OP on this.
I've only been posting here for a short time, and (generally) only post on things when I have something to contribute, and (again, generally) the only things I contribute to are things that I either have first hand knowledge of, or can back up with paperwork.
Having said that - points 1, 2 and 3 of the OP's post are pretty much dead on. For people that supposedly seek the "truth" in all things, the majority of the people that post here are drinking the kool-aid just like the "sheeple" they so vehemently attack, it's just coming from a different kitchen.
While I'm a PP member and while I enjoy listening to the guests that Alex has on his show, I don't personally believe a word of what either Alex or his guests say until I've verified it for myself. Take Texe Marrs for example. Sorry Texe, but your information reads more like a tabloid than a study in anthropology or theology, and some of it is just outright wrong. Sensationalism is great at selling books and DVDs, but that's pretty much it's only purpose.
I believe that if Alex were to read this thread that he would echo my sentiment of "Don't believe anything anyone tells you!". He's right - there is a war on for your mind - and the conspiracy theorists are just as eager to soak up "the big bad government is out to get us" propaganda as the other side is willing to soak up "the government is your friend - don't worry about it" propaganda.
Do your own research. Just because someone doesn't agree with what you THINK (as opposed to what you KNOW) doesn't make them wrong. Not everything you hear on Alex's show is point blank true, and that goes doubly for this forum.
That is all...
EDIT: I should point out that I remember 9/11 very well. I was standing in my office watching it on CNN with my brother when the first tower "fell". We turned to each other and said "That looks like a controlled demo job".
I'm in agreement with 95% of what's said in the truther circles, but seriously, do your own research. You might just find that one piece of damning smoking-gun evidence that everyone's looking for.

The labeling of the truth movement as a cult of conspiracy is just a temporary nuisance while present authority is in denial. During this period, all theories are lumped together by the present authority. It is just temporary. Until one or a combination of the following occur: 1) there is changing of the guard, 2) enough people realize the truth of the matter, and 3) those that don't die off by natural causes.

Osiris, appreciate what you say, but with your method of waiting first until you prove things to your own satisfaction, you risk always being one step behind everything that happens ahead.
Not disrespecting you in any way, just suggesting that you only need to hear a duck quack once like a duck, and walk once like a duck, to know for sure you've got a duck in front of you. I'm saying that for you, it still ain't no duck, you'd always want more 'proof' time after time.
I guess the CT people are just a lot quicker on the uptake and are prepared to some degree. I'd rather hedge and be on their side of the fence. The catalog of proven things our governments have done or tried, Northwoods, Tonkin, nerve-gas tests on troops... jeezus that list sounds like something out of a nutjob Conspiracy Theory... but it is all true and proven.
I submit if you accept all of the above happened, you'd have a screw loose to think all CT are wrong. They know their enemy.

That was a good post, but I don't envy you for it. You are bound to get the usual little dogmastists gathering in here accusing you of being a "troll" or "cointelpro" or somesuch. You are right. There is no real critical appraisal within this movement. Many people seem to believe the dominant theory as much as they believed the NWO mythology that they just "woke up" from. Everything should be questioned and the dogmatic adoption of any belief system does not serve that philosophy at all. Things fall into some very distinct camps and those camps are constantly raging at each other, the satanic crowd, the reptillians, the UFOs, no planers, anti-semites, anti-catholics, flat-earthers etc. This is all because people have taken on the views of the first, or most persuasive, CT author or talking head that they encountered and haven't really bothered to challenge that other person's ideas. It is one thing to get your information from someone, but the idea that David Icke, Tex Marrs, Jordan Maxwell or Bullhorn are infallible is, frankly, ridiculous. There are sever limitations on what we can discuss here. Certain topics are regarded as taboo, some with good reason, but others simply because they represent an impression, in the minds of the moderators, of those aspects of Jones' philosophy that are beyond discussion. I am sure that you will receive no end of flames and accusations of trolling/being a neocon/cointelpro/disinfo for daring to say this, but I'm rather glad that you did. This is about information, not rhetoric and all information must be critically assessed if it is to be useful.

Yeah but once you come to a realization that our entire society is a fraud/illusion, that government is for the people - or even neccessary for a functioning society to exist, that the media tells the truth, that corporate and lobby interests are in control, that the education system is in place to teach and evolve, that most politicians aren't even aware of the difference between a democracy and a republic, that the public relations industry exists for but one reason - to bullshit you, that we need permission for just about everything in life, that free speech doesn't even exist, that the whole banking system is a scam, that widespread corruption doesn't exist, etc.
Now add to that the fact that the vast majority of people do not make an effort to educate themselves and simply cherry-pick what info seems to matter most, based on a short-list of information prescreened and manufactured by the mainstream media, and that giant manipulators like Hitler and Bernays have already proven that the "sheeple" can be made to believe anything.
To believe anything is simply asinine.

Nice points but remember sometimes the devils working towards a NWO can be so clever that hard direct evidence might not be forthcoming for years, decades, or ever at all (eg 911 evidence shipped and buried). Then you have to fall back on circumstantial evidence, and people have been sent to the gallows on that.

While the duck metaphor isn't lost on me, I've seen people "walk" and "quack" like ducks, but that doesn't make them ducks now does it I'm not suggesting going on a full scale investigation of everything - that's what groups like this are for. We have lots of people culling information so the rest of us don't have to. What I AM saying is that when someone disagrees with you, go get the documentation to back your argument FROM THE SOURCE. "It's true because AJ said it!" isn't good enough.

I've been watching the governments of the world rape their subjects (yes, I used that word on purpose) for over 2 decades and 3 presidents. I'm well aware of what they're capable of. That doesn't mean that I'm going to blindly follow every new piece of information that comes my way as being a government attack. Half of the time the information isn't even factually accurate. See the thread about the secret meeting of the house for a good example. As for going to the gallows on circumstantial evidence - that's always a crime; something about "beyond the shadow of doubt".

The first part of his post may be made by anybody with knowledge in psychology or sociology. The word "cult" can be wrapped around any subject. As with everything else, the word is politicized. The poster is banking with this word and, if you took it out, there would be no argument. More important - why does he write the PS? This PS is highly suspect. Does it contain key words for the FEDS? Does his PS help his handlers find his posts? Therein lies a huge problem. Those names are all Disney girls who've been caught naked and underage. Something doesn't smell right with this poster!!

Lets think of this, if the government is really this powerful, why can't they beat some iraqis in a cave after 6 years? Perhaps the same reason the leaders in office now can't even follow and abide by the laws set forth in the Constitution perhaps? Yeah - actually that is a good question - pray tell why not? We have the technology, we have the firepower, the manpower? So why doesn't the official media/government tell *us* why not? Or would you honestly say we simply do not have the military power to take care of that? Or perhaps - do you think it's because we don't *want* to? I suspect Iraq could have been gone from the face of the earth now, if the situation was different. Is this not the mind set of a cult member? Actually, I was a 'right-winger' for quite sometime - and no, the opposite is true. I accept and am willing to debate/discuss a difference of opinion. Try that with the right wing 'leaders' of talk - Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, perhaps? They are simply not willing to discuss any point other than their own. If you listen to them, they act like any dissent or difference of opinion between them and anyone else is sheer 'Heresy'. What is it Hannity says, "Get off my phone!" - coined from Mark Levin, I know. The left-wingers are even worse - they worship Moveon.org, and their 'enlightened' leaders, like Michael Moore, George Soros, etc. I felt more like a cult member listening and buying into the right wing rhetoric that I ever have in my life. There are some who are cool and will let you have your opinion and not bitch at you if you don't belive all the NWO stuff, but a lot of them simply disregard everything you say, once you say you don't belive the NWO is all powerful and controlling everything. *Exact* same attitude of the 'media' talkers - from Talk Radio, to CNN - they are the VERY worst with that. I don't necessarily - personally think the Government controls as much as some think - but there's no doubt in my mind they control a LOT more than most people are willing to admit. You don't even have to believe what Alex Jones says - just go read the news. How are these ample, constant violations of our 4th Amendment rights not clear to so many people? We're not talking some off-the-wall right hidden in a law book somewhere, we are talking violations of the Constitution - blatant ones. Last question:
Is Bush following his Oath?
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Something doesn't smell right with this poster!!
Since there is nothing on the internet that google can't find, why don't you drop that PS string into a search box and see how many hits you get. Here's a link to make it easy. Incidentally - this is exactly what I was talking about.

You are absolutely correct, no need to try and punch you in the brain, you've got it all figured out. I don't know why I didn't see this before. Carry on.

What do you mean Osiris? We don't normally post about teenage girls on this forum, since there are youngsters running around here. I don't find the first half of the post suspect. It's a very basic argument and can be made by anybody possessing the smallest knowledge of psychology or sociology. People make this argument all the time from conspiracy to religion to smoking cigs. Anything can be called a cult. In the words of a mentor - the word "indeed" doens't prove an argument nor do bullet points. Someone pointing out the style of argument of people on a forum does not negate the subject matter of the forum. OP is not to clever on this point. I've caught other perverts on this forum, so relax... I may not post much, but I read everything single thing posted here.

I was referencing your questions about the P.S. being a tag to help the "FEDS" track his posts or help his handlers find him. The google link was provided to point out that If they are, it's the first time he's used them. That doesn't mean that I'm going to blindly follow every new piece of information that comes my way as being a government attack. That's what I meant.

the usage of the 333 in his PS to the post does seem rather odd, as does the whole PS. which makes the poster seem odd. although there were some fair points he failed to provide any evidence as to why the US should win a war in Iraq when it is undermaned and facing multiple enemies with years of fighting experience, on their own soil, and most of all ones it has backed with money and arms. Plus of course all the black ops carried out to ensure the country was destabilised, it was a war that was not meant to be won quickly, that was the primary reason for the war, that it would drag on and sow bitterness and chaos across the world. The OP also fails to mention that one of the reasons the NWO is not in place now is that there are other good forces out there working away behind the scenes to hinder and defeat the Illuminati and their servants, there are intelligence agents, politicians, business people, military, spiritual types, AJ and the rest of the dissidents etc etc. Of course the government is not all powerful, neither are the global elites , however, that does not make them weak or incompetent. PS you need to realise is not just about the government, that is another flaw in your understanding, if it was just about the US government we would have won by now.

I was just speculating. Why do you blindly think a google search would reveal something meant for a NSA key-word tracker? Do you know something I don't? If other instigators come here making threats so that the forum is subsequently investigated by FEDS, how is mentioning something else highly suspect any different? I guess you are not aware that some ppl went to jail for downloading the Disney pre-teen nudie pictures. Call me what you want, I find it suspicious. As to what you meant, if you are saying my mind is filled with conspiracy, then I'd say you were wrong. I've thought in alternative modes since the day I was born, to call my thinking somehow wrong would make me want to ask how your mind is somehow right and only filled with verifiable fact. Do you only say things that have verifiable truth? Please enlighten me!!!

...That doesn't mean that I'm going to blindly follow every new piece of information that comes my way as being a government attack....".
I get your point, and I agree too. I think I was a bit edgy as the OP is trying to bait all Truthers as 'blind followers' to such a degree that we are a 'cult'. We aren't all like that at all, I think we all know no-one hits it with a 100% strike-rate, but by and large AJ seems to be able to back up most things he brings to light. Without AJ and his kin, we wouldn't get ANY info at all... It is probably true that a small percentage of Truthers will believe everything 100%, but equally there is a small percentage of non-Truthers (eg Troy) who wouldn't believe in 100% of all topics discussed too, and would be equally antagonistic to debate or challenge of viewpoint -the 'Cult of the Honest Government'? Best to read and hear everything, pro or against our own viewpoints. At worst we will be entertained, at best we will be better prepared than most.

I am surprised that Timiat was not smart enough to see that I THANKED him for his comments, and stated that they were 'well said' and leave it at that.

The question I have to ask is why anyone who thinks we are a bunch of mindless cultists would even want to be here at all unless they were sent to sow dissension among us?

This is a perfect example of the old contrived problem, controlled reaction, and preset solution scenario... It steers the reader passed what is quickly glossed over as the reason... in this case 9/11 and even the FEMA thing... and paints the problem as the messengers... in this case, "these conspiracy theorists", "there is no reasoning with them"... yet throughout the entire post there is no attempt to supply any reasoning by the poster at all as to why we should be demonized.
He continues in his demonization of the Conspiracy theory messengers, by labeling them as cultists, followers of some neo-religious fervency based upon some kind of unreasonable fear or another. Never addressing the real facts... namely, the reasons why people are gathering together as they are here around this knowledge... No, the poster doesn't want to go there, his only interest here is in demonizing everyone who realizes the truth about 9/11, and many other things that are going on around us at the hands of the globalists...
His solution to this well crafted demonization... this blanket messenger shooting, is illusive... but elludes to an inference I draw from what he has implied... Does being "SWAT Teamed", or Waco-ed ring a bell to any of you..? Or maybe we can all look forward to FEMA trailer bunk in our future...?
This is an example of what I call the banal, soft spoken, slithering troll... they snake their way boringly under the radar, and as I have stated before, this kind of post only serves to get people bantering back and forth in defense against a false argument... well crafted by the poster, and reinforced throughout its length by others of his ilk... who cleverly whine that the post is a good one, but never the less, the evil growling moderators will no doubt flag it and your freedom of speech will be squashed...
This is a fallacious argument, that is steered in such a way that it allows for no discussion of the reasons why people become 9/11 truth advocates, or any debating of the facts surrounding this. It becomes a subtle "attack and defend" fest, steered by at least 2 posters, to keep the thread controlled by the ones who put forth the false argument in the first place... This kind of tactic is covered very clearly in rule number seven of the forum rules... just because this person is not a ranting, vitriolic, frothing, name calling troll... doesn't mean he isn't a troll.

my sentiments exactly. Makes you wonder if there's a whole network of trolls where one posts and the others surface to agree. My replies to these types is getting shorter and shorter.

Can we get a MOD to get rid of this douche. He's done nothing but troll around the forum in the time he's been here and hasn't posted anything constructive.
Some quotes from Timiat:
"Al Gore is one of the smartest men alive." "Marrying Teens = Fighting the NWO" "i can never take loose change, or anybody from the so called 9-11 truth movement seriously" "Oh and uhh...can i plz haz ur teen daughters now? ;p" "Eat, sleep, screw. At it's core, thats all lifes really all about." "fu*k the alleged "truth" movement, and everyone in it." "I have no problem with anyone saying that someone sending a 9-11 conspriocy dvd to a troop in a iraq, should be killed. I 100% agree"
Not only is he crude, dimwitted and obnoxious, but a pederast as well. I am personally insulted by his existence.

with these posts he should have been tackled by now by bystanders directly or reported to mods. whilst his post on this thread is clearly diversionary, some of those posts you quote are direct banning material and obvious trolling. IMHO
