Mystery Plane?!?

I happen to work near a military base, USAF to be exact, and on my way home yesterday I noticed a plane that had just taken off from the airfield.  It caught my attention because it was not grey like all of the other AF planes I see every day.  It was large like the C-130 or C-5 but instead of grey it was white.  White with a blue and red tail fin and just in front of the wings, on the body of the plane, was writing.  I stopped and got my binoculars out of the trunk, but by that time it was too far away. 

I was wondering if anyone can match that description to an airline or company? and any thought as to why it was flying out of an air force base.

Not a clue. From what you describe, it could be anything, but maybe some kind of civilian agency, as the Red Cross flys white planes with the cross on it.
