http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,20953093-27197,00.htmlDecember 19, 2006 11:00pm The public are not getting the facts about fluoride, writes John Ryan THOSE advocating the addition of fluoride to Queensland's public water supply prefer to denigrate opponents than engage in substantive debate. For instance, the Australian Dental Association's Robert McCray dismisses opponents' arguments and says people who don't want fluoride can take it out of the water themselves – at significant expense. This is a medical treatment which defies every rule of drug management – administrated compulsorily every day, for a lifetime, regardless of age and medical circumstances (and with little prior education or choice for the community). McCray seeks to relegate those opposed to his views as "nutters", including me – a medical practitioner vitally interested in early intervention medicine and spokesman for more than 3000 Australian doctors, dentists, scientists and other health practitioners – and my wife, a medical professional and dedicated researcher in this subject. Presumably it also includes a third of Brisbane's population; in a community forum in 2005, Brisbane Lord Mayor Campbell Newman said he would not support water fluoridation because a third of residents rejected mass medication. It must also include 14 Nobel Prize winners who oppose water fluoridation on scientific grounds, including Arvid Carlsson who led the successful campaign against fluoridation in Sweden, and who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2000. Is McCray's patronising argument also directed against the 12 North American scientific experts on fluoride who met regularly over three years (National Research Council USA 2006)? They concluded that communities with water fluoridation had increased rates of: • Hip fractures – fluoride can make bones more brittle and cause joint stiffness and pain. • Lowered IQ in children, even at low dose. • Decreased thyroid function. • Bone cancer – positive in animal studies and later to be seen positive in young boys by a 2006 study. • Dental fluorosis – staining and pitting of tooth enamel. We suggest the ADA is being negligent in not following the world's largest group of dentists, the American Dental Association, in stating clearly on its website the warning that fluoridated water should not be used for formula-fed babies. This website should acknowledge also the research that at least 1 per cent of the population will suffer from allergic reactions from fluoride in water (that's 40,000 in this state – a lot of Queenslanders). Might it also include the Centre for Disease Control's acknowledgments in 1999 and 2002 that where fluoride is effective, it is in the topical (local) application to teeth? And is it unreasonable to expect the "all the facts" website be up to date and report the recent publication by the prestigious Lancet, of human neurotoxicity caused by fluoride in water – in similar concentrations now recommended by the dentists for Queensland's drinking water? For obvious reasons, then, the following situation exists: • Only nine countries in the world have fluoridation of more than 50 per cent of their public water supplies. Thus Queensland is presently "in step" with most of the world. • Less than 2 per cent of Continental Europe's drinking water is fluoridated. Europe has abandoned the discredited practice over the past 30 years and with no loss to dental health. • Japan, China, Scotland and Northern Ireland have rejected fluoridation. Israel has ceased expansion due to recent research exposing negative health effects. Finally, less than 1 per cent of water used is actually drunk. Most water is for other household use including sewage, and for use by industry etc. Could a less efficient, more wasteful system of medication distribution ever be devised? There are also significant issues concerning the damage to our ecology by the subsequent disposal of this known poison. Surely all Queenslanders are entitled to examine this information before they are compulsorily medicated for a lifetime. Big business and government are funding the dentists in their harmful crusade and Queensland Health has declared already it is not interested in presenting both sides. A case in point is the impending Warwick fluoride poll which has huge resources and funding for the "Yes" case, and absolutely no funding for the "No" case. Of course, we are unable to match their resources, so we encourage Queenslanders to Google "fluoride" for their own education. Dr John Ryan is the chairman of the group Professionals Against Water Fluoridation

Statistics are NOT science. Science means "to know". I want to know the chemical reaction that happens when teeth are exposed to fluoride, and exactly how they strengthen and enhance our teeth. THAT would be conclusive. Not this... "well, our teeth are better now because we've got fluoride." Proof. I want proof. Maybe some kids drink more soda than others? Maybe some haven't been to the dentist for plaque and tartar removal often enough? Who knows?
I'd also like to know why if you go to the dentist as a child and they smear that poison on your teeth that you are warned not to swallow any, or even touch any with your tongue as it sits there on your teeth. Interesting.... Oh but it's okay when it's put in the water at low low levels.
Who do they think they're kidding?! What in the WORLD did we all do before we poisoned our water with this stuff?

So does Chlorine for pools lol The point is this stuff as JT says in small doses is dangerous. I mean Hip fractures – fluoride can make bones more brittle and cause joint stiffness and pain. • Lowered IQ in children, even at low dose. • Decreased thyroid function. • Bone cancer – positive in animal studies and later to be seen positive in young boys by a 2006 study. • Dental fluorosis – staining and pitting of tooth enamel. I have a mild case of dental fluorosis already. When I first learned about fluoride, I saw a picture that showed what happens to fluroridated teeth and voila! I definitely have too much fluoride in myself. It just makes me angry that the Berkeys are so freaking expensive.

Maybe some haven't been to the dentist for plaque and tartar removal often enough? Who knows? This is what I remember from my days of researching fluoride (please correct me if I'm wrong)... The term "strengthen" is deceptive and incorrect. Fluoride never has and never will "strengthen" teeth. It can harden them. But making something harder does not make it stronger. Fluoride can only harden teeth if you are exposed to at a young age. After puberty fluoride no longer has this "hardening" effect. Anyway, even if it did strengthen your teeth (which it doesn't), harder or "stronger" teeth do not resist the acid released from bacteria any more than normal teeth. Fluoride reduces cavities because it is a poison and it kills bacteria. Less bacteria, less acid, less cavities.By the way, they still don't know exactly how their theory of fluoride "preventing cavities" actually works. They always rely on statistics and studies (most of which are incomplete) to "prove" that fluoride works.

I found it very deceptive that suddenly it's just announced as a result of some 'poll' saying 85% want it.
What about a state-wide vote? Well that'd result in opposition getting the word out.
Damn these politicians.

Snag away... The class 6 toxin with the skull and cross bones on the lable should get their attention in a big way... We are at the top of the watershed here in Summit County Colorado at over 9000 feet... then the water is run through the sewage treatment plant here, and into the river and goes down the the next town... where they add more "Fluoride"... remember this stuff is not removed by normal filtration or chemical treatment and must be distilled to completely remove it... At high concentrations and high heat... it produces hydrofluoric acid... it eats glass... JTCoyoté [Over]Ten years after NAFTA, Mexico's leading export to America is still--Mexicans. Phenalalynines(aspertame aka nutrisweet) AVOID AVOID AVOID! Even if you are a DIABETIC! It breaks down into Formic acid(fireant sting), formaldehyde(enbalming fluid) amd Methyl alchohol(wood alcohol-bad hooch) at 87F, so when it hits tongue, it doesn't decompose until it warms up a bit. btw-human body temp 98.6.
I take Walgreens multis, if you drink Mountain Dew in any quanity, get extra Potassium Iodate. I will try farming my own crops next year, making a tiny greenhouse(s) out of clear garbage bag with half dodecahedron frame made of coathangers. I can post the design, very simple, QED! I trust very little, but have little choice in the matter. I eat their junk they pollute us with. I saw wrappers with [company] North America, inc. on it, freaks me out a wee bit. Makes me wonder if prepacked stuff has to label GMO food ingredients. With all the other toxic stuff they try to get away with, makes you wonder if the "heathy" stuff isn't tainted as well.
I doubt anything is nutricious anymore unless you know the grower personally. Whole wheat. Wine =) Eat loads of onions to detoxify. Olive oil instead of margerine. Don't over use antibiotics. NO FLU SHOTS DUMMY! EVER! CAPICHE?! Have metal fillings replaced(watch the dentist go nuts protecting themself removing this "harmless" stuff!) with composites.
I see more good coming out of waking people up than self sustaining, and I loathe with a passion speaking about NWO.

http://www.health.qld.gov.au/fluoride/default.asp - Look at some local propaganda 'What do the experts say?' - http://www.health.vic.gov.au/dentistry/downloads/oralhealth.pdfAustralian Dental Association - http://www.ada.org.au/Fluoride is a naturally occurring substance found in water, plants, rocks, soil, air and most foods. Topping up the natural fluoride to a level of between 0.6 and 0.9 parts per million in community water supplies provides crucial additional protection against a disease of growing concern. More than 75 per cent of residents in every other Australian state and territory have had fluoridated water for between 30 and 50 years. Less than 5 per cent of the Queensland population currently have access to the benefits of fluoridated water. Types of fluorideMost of Queensland's fluoridated towns (Townsville, Mareeba, Moranbah and Dalby) use sodium fluoride, the same substance used in the fluoride tablets many of us took as children. It dissolves completely in water, and breaks down into harmless sodium and fluoride ions. The compound more often used in large cities (and also in Bamaga) is fluorosilicic acid or its salt, sodium hexafluorosilicate. These dissolve completely and harmlessly in water, breaking down into hydrogen ions, fluoride ions, silica and water. The fluoride ions in artificially fluoridated water are identical to those found in naturally fluoridated water. Anyone know more about the highlighted toxins? Thanks There is no difference between the absorption of fluoride from artificially fluoridated drinking water or drinking water in which the fluoride is present naturally. Your comments will be considered when the final policy is developed.

Back in 1940's chemical industry paid doctor to say flouride prevented tooth decay. It was a way for chemical companies to get rid of their pesticide waste yes flouride is pesticide waste and science has proven how dangerous it is. Scam scam scam as usual.
Calcium Flouride occurs in soil but very small amounts plus not nearly as dangerous. Roughly 18 cities in US has banned water flouridation. I petitioned city council for group to stop water flouridation (botonist/Certified Doctor of Naturopathy). The only way to rid Flouride from tap water is water distillation. Water Wise (has website) sells distillers fairly reasonable prices and excellent customer service from experience. A lot of bottled water is from munipalities and no better than tap water - completed my own test.
Baking Soda acceptible replacement for flouride toothpaste. Also, you can rid flouride from your body with cleansing programs. Any other questions feel free to ask.

http://www.waterwise.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=3&idproduct=25Call they may have remanufactured models that are less expensive. How to Remove Fluoride: Fast removes toxins (3-7 Day Water Fast) Always start with 3 days if you have no experience and make sure someone is with you on those days. Algin, Kelp, Wheat Bran, Apple Pectin and Alfalfa are good herbs for environmental pollution Diet important eat plenty of leafy green vegetables especially cabbage and brocolli they are detoxifying. Drink Plenty of Water minimum 8 glasses per day (distilled best) switch to spring water once in awhile.

The only problem I have with distilled water is that it leaches minerals from you.

Distilled water takes out everything during distillation process it don't leach minerals from your body. You don't obtain minerals drinking distilled water. If you do not get enough minerals from diet solutions would be to add a little sea salt to distilled water or switch out to spring water once in awhile.

Just add minerals to your body each day. Get them in liquid or with your vitamins. Colloidal minerals are also good.
Just eat the Sea Salt with your food,

This is hotly debated among people who supply water filters. I spent quite a few years researching water and fluoridation and I am still yet to see any genuine and reliable studies that back up either side of the argument. The theory that distilled water removes minerals is based on chelation and mineral transportation. Here are articles that support both sides: Against Distilled Waterhttp://www.mercola.com/article/water/distilled_water.htmPro Distilled Waterhttp://www.steamdistiller.com/distil.htmhttp://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1056392(This article is copied and reposted many times on the net.) I think that nature provides us with everything that we need and steam distilled water does not exist in nature, it is man made. So I would tend to think that all living things need water with some amount of mineral content. I am surprised that there are not more studies about this. You would think that sports medicine would be very interested in what type of water is best for optimum health.

Hi all! My wife and I have been talking about getting a Berkey system for some time now and with the new year ringing in, we are going to make good on our promises. But, one thing I saw on the Berkey site, it says "not yet available in California or Iowa". What the heck does that mean? I want to order from them, but im in California and my local water company was just bought out and they have begun adding fluoride to the water. We used to get our water from reservoirs in our local mountains (southern CA) but now 80% of it is being replaced by DWP (los angeles dept of water and power). There was a few complaints, but no hearing or anything at our city council. So, I want the Berkey system... will they sell it to me? What other options do I have? An RO system? Ive read they are more expensive. http://www.berkeywater.com/

Natural water I agree would be much better if we did not have coal mines, chemical, steel industries etc that pollute our water. This is why one must consider distilled water for a healthly body. I have well water test concluded it was not natural had traces of arsenic and several dangerous acids. Biology teaches innervation, nutrition and drainage. Accumulation of waste and morbid matter interfere with drainage as well as nutrition of the cell. Hope this explanation helps!

Berkey Water got back to me as to why they dont sell their big chrome systems here in California... With respect to California, the reason we do not offer some systems to residents of California is somewhat complex, but the bottom line is that to be licensed in California we have three choices, either: 1) To agree that worldwide we will not advertise that our filters are capable of removing pathogenic bacteria, which they do. 2) Do not offer our products in California. 3) Prove that our water purifiers are able remove viruses. Unfortunately at this time, California has not come up with a protocol for testing the removal of viruses. We are working on creating a testing protocol that would be acceptable to California and hope to rectify the problem in the not so distant future. Our suggestion would be that you consider one of our "Outdoor Camping Systems," the Travel Berkey, the Sport Berkey or the Berkey Light, which are available in California. These items are listed under Outdoor Systems in the left navigation bar of our website: http://www.berkeywater.com/start.main.htmlIf I may be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thank you for your e-mail and for considering our products. Sincerely, Adam Lock Sounds good to me. Looks like I'll pick up their Berkey Light system.

Remember... California has a Bureau of Home Furnishings...
Holy crap! Youre right! Not exactly "fluoride" but probably doesnt deserve its own thread. My wife read an article in her Russian news that these CFL lights are cancer causing. Has anyone heard of this? I did read about two months ago an incident where a lady broke her CFL light in her childs bedroom, wanted to be environmentally conscious so she called a local waste management place, who then called a government agency and in no time HAZMAT had quarantined the kids bedroom for a month to clean up the "contamination". This made the news because the lady was being charged $20,000 for cleanup services and she was outraged. It all sound a bit over the top to me, but if the insides are toxic, wouldnt it be conceivable it puts out toxic energy/waste/light whateveryoucallit?

There's a thread over here > http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=19332.0called Incandescent Light Bulbs Outlawed where we are discussing just that. If you want to post that story there I think it would fit in really well! LED lights are available at very high prices comparably but they last for up to 100,000 hours and no toxic phosphors or mercury.

Another great thread everyone - I have not read all - only 2 pages so far and need to get to work - but I'm on a quest to try to find out what caused a sudden lymphoma diagnosis in my 16 year old son. This additive is one item on my 'substance of interest' list. I look forward to reading the thread in its entirety. Thanks for continuing to talk about so many important topics - sharing info is key.

Second Thoughts on FluorideNew research indicates that a cavity-fighting treatment could be risky if overusedBy Dan Fagin - Researchers are intensifying their scrutiny of fluoride, which is added to most public water systems in the U.S. Some recent studies suggest that overconsumption of fluoride can raise the risks of disorders affecting teeth, bones, the brain and the thyroid gland.
- A 2006 report by a committee of the National Research Council recommended that the federal government lower its current limit for fluoride in drinking water because of health risks to both children and adults.
— The EditorsLong before the passionate debates over cigarettes, DDT, asbestos or the ozone hole, most Americans had heard of only one environmental health controversy: fluoridation. Starting in the 1950s, hundreds of communities across the U.S. became embroiled in heated battles over whether fluorides—ionic compounds containing the element fluorine—should be added to their water systems. On one side was a broad coalition of scientists from government and industry who argued that adding fluoride to drinking water would protect teeth against decay; on the other side were activists who contended that the risks of fluoridation were inadequately studied and that the practice amounted to compulsory medication and thus was a violation of civil liberties. The advocates of fluoride eventually carried the day, in part by ridiculing opponents such as the right-wing John Birch Society, which called fluoridation a communist plot to poison America. Today almost 60 percent of the U.S. population drinks fluoridated water, including residents of 46 of the nation’s 50 largest cities. Outside the U.S., fluoridation has spread to Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and a few other countries. Critics of the practice have generally been dismissed as gadflies or zealots by mainstream researchers and public health agencies in those countries as well as the U.S. (In other nations, however, water fluoridation is rare and controversial.) The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention even lists water fluoridation as one of the 10 greatest health achievements of the 20th century, alongside vaccines and family planning. http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=second-thoughts-on-fluoride SO what are they saying? "...New research indicates that a cavity-fighting treatment could be risky if overused...overconsumption of fluoride can raise the risks of disorders affecting teeth, bones, the brain and the thyroid gland...the practice amounted to compulsory medication and thus was a violation of civil liberties...ridiculing opponents such as the right-wing John Birch Society...Critics of the practice have generally been dismissed as gadflies or zealots...Centers for Disease Control and Prevention even lists water fluoridation as one of the 10 greatest health achievements of the 20th century, alongside vaccines and family planning..." WHAT! STOP! What was that last sentence?! Centers for Disease Control and Prevention even lists water fluoridation as one of the 10 greatest health achievements of the 20th century, alongside vaccines and family planning.
Oh man, that says it all!

Can someone here please help me?
My city has always gotten our water from our local mountains, but now fluoride is being added. We also have very very hard water. I want to do something about this.
What is the best system I can hook up to my water system to soften the water? Reverse Osmosis? Also, even after I do that, I want to get the Berkey water filter for our drinking water. Am I protected now? All is good?
Im definitely getting the Berkey, but need help with softening our water. Any tips? Thanks!

You have "very hard" water? I don't even know how to help you, sorry. Just google it and see what you can find, that is how I found the Berkey filters.

Hmm it seems like a water softener may be in order. Where I used to live we had very hard water that was also full of copper and clay. We got a plumber to install one of those water softeners in the basement with the salt pellets. That cleared it up quite a bit and then filters on any water to drink made it fine. I own a Berkey too. I definitely recommend it.

I've been searching for some reliable information on what tooth enamel is comprised of and if it can be "repaired". I remember reading that tooth enamel once formed was essentially dead and could not be replaced by the body. Also, exactly how fluoride is supposed to prevent cavities. There seems to be very little detailed referenced information on either of these questions. I did find this which is interesting: What tooth enamel is made of pretty much depends on who you ask. Some experts say, "Enamel's primary mineral is hydroxyapatite", to which I disagree because how could they know the enamel's composition if they can't even get the correct word usage right? Hydroxyapatite is the incorrect use of the word, "hydroxyL-apatite" (capital letter and hyphen used for clarification) but that is not what tooth enamel is made of either according to others who say, "tooth enamel is calcium hydroxy phosphate". Other so called experts [who claim that Fluoride (a corrosive toxic poison) is good for you] say that the tooth enamel's strength is "enhanced by the formation of fluoroapatite, a naturally occurring component of tooth enamel". This is also a lie because Fluoroapatite (more correctly spelled fluorapatite), is a natural calcium halophosphate or fluorinated calcium phosphate mineral that is mined from the earth for the making of phosphate fertilizer. Fluorine (used in some Freon) and Hydrofluosilicic acid (used to fluoridate drinking water and ther industrial applications) are both highly toxic and dangerous and are liberated from the natural mineral Fluorapatite. Fluorapatite is not a "naturally occurring component of tooth enamel". Still others argue that tooth enamel is, "calcium phosphate" (I agree) while other experts say enamel is, "composed of approximately 28% organic matter and 72% inorganic (calcium)", which is a vague but some-what true response although I have to plead ignorance on the actual percentages of calcium phosphate in the enamel. Everyone agrees that under the enamel is what's called, "dentin" but as for what the enamel is - well that depends on who your asking and whether or not they are trying to promote the fluoride myth. You see if they can get you to believe that your teeth "already contain naturally occurring fluoroapatite" (which they do not), then what's the harm in adding a little more fluoride to strengthen them? From the research and knowledge that I have come to find, my best answer is that tooth enamel is basically composed of calcium phosphate mineral but not hydroxylapatite. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_enamel_made_from&src=ansTT

Heres an article from 2001 by Dr.Don Auley a dentist and member of Irish Dentists Opposing Fluoridation (IDOF). Fluoridated water - a drink more toxic than lead 18.11.2001 http://www.wiseupjournal.com/?p=25They claim fluoride makes teeth stronger.. Now even dentists say it’s poisonous! Our bodies contain 76% water and we all need it to survive - but when we turn on our taps are we aware of the growing controversy surrounding what comes out? For the last forty years, fluoride has been added to our drinking water to “benefit” our teeth and help stop decay. Since the early 1960s, tooth decay has fallen in Ireland and our teeth are much healthier now than in the previous generation. However, 98% of Europe has stopped, banned or never tried water fluoridation. These countries have less decay than we do, so our decay levels are more likely due to improved diet and better hygiene and teeth brushing than the addition of fluoride. The idea that fluoride in our water can somehow harden our teeth against decay but leave the rest of our bodies untouched is now seriously in question. How swallowed fluoride finds its way back to our teeth and avoids the rest of our organs is a mystery. Fluoride has been described as “more toxic than lead and slightly less toxic than arsenic” and is considered an accumulative toxin. Recently, doctors and dentists in Ireland have highlighted the many international studies linking fluoridation to damaging health conditions such as hip fractures, osteoporosis, cancer, irritable bowel syndrome and thyroid damage. If it can harden teeth then can it harden bones and contribute to osteoporosis? The problem is no-one knows because successive ministers have failed to carry out the health studies required by law. Fluoride also causes tooth damage (dental fluorosis). There has been an increase in fluorosis in Ireland and it now affects 40-50% of all children and teenagers. The damage is seen as white lines or spots on the teeth in mild cases. In more severe cases it causes brown staining, chipping and pitting of teeth. This fluoride tooth damage is permanent and it is very costly to treat the more severe cases. A medicine is defined as a substance that can treat or prevent disease. The practice of medicating drinking water with fluoride to prevent tooth decay has always been controversial. Surprisingly, the Irish Medicines Board recently declared that this fluoride agent is not a medicine and has never been proven safe or effective for use on humans. So what is it? Through the Freedom of Information Act, we discovered another shocking fact about Irish fluoridation. The fluoride agent is a fertliser waste product imported by Albatros Fertilizers Ltd., Co. Wexford. It is imported from a fertiliser factory in Holland where fluoridation is banned by law. The most recent analysis of this agent from the Eastern Regional Health Authority shows it contains arsenic, mercury, lead and chromium. These are all cancer-causing heavy metals. Not only are we getting fluoride but we also getting a range of toxic metals in a product that is untested and uncontrolled. Ireland’s water treatment plants dump 2000 gallons of this toxic cocktail into our drinking water supplies every day. In the 21st Century, the lack of choice or consent with this compulsory medication is becoming a huge issue. Nearly 75% of the Irish population receives drinking water dosed with fluoride. To date, nine county councils, two city corporations and seven urban district councils have all called for an end to the practice. The Consumers’ Association of Ireland also added its voice to the tide of protest. However, they are as powerless as you and I to stop this mass medication. The only person who can turn off the fluoride taps is the Minister of Health. Unfortunately, instead of doing the health studies, Minister Martin set up a rubber-stamping exercise called the Forum on Fluoridation. This forum includes professionals and experts some of whom have promoted and built their careers on fluoride/fluoridation. This mainly pro-fluoride forum held their meetings in secret. Our organisation thinks their proceedings were never independent, open or objective. Individuals and organisations stayed away and refused invitations to this closed, pro-fluoride body. One GP, who did attend, was so shocked by the forum’s lack of openness that he is now taking legal action. On 26/10/2001, Dr. Andrew Rynne, a Co Kildare family doctor, issued High Court proceedings against the Minister for Health, Eastern Regional Health Authority, Kildare Co Council, the Attorney General and the state. An increasing number of professionals including dentists are calling for an immediate end to fluoridation. Dentists, in the past, have been silent on this issue but now through Irish Dentists Opposing Fluoridation ( www.idof.net) we intend to be vocal in calling for an end to a practice which is unsafe, undemocratic and unscientific.
