From NBC:

Prosecutors ask FBI agents for info on Uranium One deal

On the orders of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Justice Department prosecutors have begun asking FBI agents to explain the evidence they found in a now dormant criminal investigation into a controversial uranium deal that critics have linked to Bill and Hillary Clinton, multiple law enforcement officials told NBC News.

The interviews with FBI agents are part of the Justice Department's effort to fulfill a promise an assistant attorney general made to Congress last month to examine whether a special counsel was warranted to look into what has become known as the Uranium One deal, a senior Justice Department official said.

At issue is a 2010 transaction in which the Obama Administration allowed the sale of U.S. uranium mining facilities to Russia's state atomic energy company. Hillary Clinton was secretary of state at the time, and the State Department was one of nine agencies that agreed to approve the deal after finding no threat to U.S. national security....

Judicial Watch Sues for Uranium One Docs
« Reply #2 on: April 11, 2018, 10:57:36 AM »

The FOIA suit seeks communications about the deal from nine offices within the Justice and State departments.

The government transparency watchdog, Judicial Watch, has announced it is suing the Justice and State Departments for all communications regarding the Uranium One deal over a period of nearly five years.

The suit is the result of two Freedom of Information Act requests that have gone unanswered, dating back to Dec. 22, that sought the records from:

• Office of the Attorney General

• Office of the Deputy Attorney General

• Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel

• Office of the Secretary of State

• State Department Office of Legal Adviser

• Office of the Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs

• Office of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance

• Office of International Security and Nonproliferation

• Office of Political-Military Affairs

The period covered by the request dates from Jan. 20, 2009—the date of President Barack Obama’s first inauguration—to Dec. 31, 2013. Russian state-owned Rosatom bought Uranium One, which held licenses for 20 percent of U.S. uranium production, in 2010.

It has since been revealed that criminal activities by the company were under investigation at the time of the deal, and that one of its interests donated tens of millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation before then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton helped approve the deal through the Committee on Foreign Investment.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said it was “simply remarkable” his organization was forced to sue for “basic information” about the Uranium One deal, adding:

“It seems Judicial Watch has done more to investigate the Clinton-Russia connections than the Justice Department, even as DOJ resources are spent on supporting Mueller’s massive investigation into the fanciful Clinton Dossier-inspired Trump-Russia conspiracy theory.”

Then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, who is now responsible for the “Russia Narrative” investigation, led the probe into the Uranium One deal. He later handed it off to then-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
