A drop in gold can mean a couple of things, one is chicanery. Two is a slight rebound of the dollar. It's still trading about the same level against the Euro as yesterday, so trading vs gold is probably a matter of perception, or chicanery (selling gold cheap to lower it's price).

I think it has a little to do with dollar strength. The US dollar is up 1-2% to the Canadian dollar

1 US = 0.99690 CAD .. it was .98 approx last week. That would explain some of the 2% drop in gold?...not sure.

They were waiting to bomb gold as soon as the official announcement of the rate cut was made.

Normally, when there's an interest rate cut, the dollar would plummet and gold would rise. They're bombing gold as traditionally it is a barometer of the state of the economy. Even people that know nothing about economics instinctively know that a high gold price means that things are not good.

They're trying to show that the economic crisis is over and that gold is no longer needed.

Don't play their game. Use the low gold price to buy more.

I'd say they are very worried if they are bombing it this heavily. Could this be a last ditch attempt to discredit precious metals?

I wouldn't wait too long before buying more. There are some big buyers out there (governments like Russia and China). This could turn around as quickly as it started to fall.

Nobody can call the bottom (without inside information). A year from now you'll realise what a bargain this is.

I'm maxed out on bills at the moment (moving apartment) but if I had any spare cash I'd be buying up the ying-yang.

A few hours later it not only leveled off but rose ABOVE where we started. Had it not been for the fed we would've made substantial money that day but instead lost everything. So, off of firsthand experience, I'd put the Fed as culprit #1. They're just messing with people buying gold.

I also read that the US mint ran out of silver to make AEs temporarily.

Here's why this is happening.  It has got zero to do wth rate cuts as is reported on CNN.  Just more finance BS from the liars to the media.  A lot of gold was dumped onto the market today and I wouldnt doubt if it  was the gold stolen from the WCT's, stolen just for a time like this. When the market crashes gold WILL go up and  Tthey want to drop the price of gold right nw  to scare people into selling, so when they do drop the economy to its knees less gold will be in the hands of the people.  Don't fall into their trap by selling your gold.

yeah, there was probably alot of gold stolen from WTC. But if they did dump all that into the market it would barely make a dent in the price. This reeks of market manipulation to me.

This pullback is necessary to keep the PM bull run healthy for the longer term.  I get nervous when the prices are moving straight up without any real periods of consolidation/correction. 

This is an excellent buying opportunity that shouldn't be missed!  Manipulations in the PM prices are happening every single day, but in the end, natural market forces win out every time.  The next upleg will push the price to new highs.
