Why does popular culture glorify and fetishize depression?

Itís now a form of virtue signaling to constantly drone on about how depressed you are on social media.

How did being weak-minded and emotionally incontinent become a positive personality trait?

Because sissy's and wimps are much easier to control.

For the most part-- I think it is chemically induced through the food and water with estrogen mimickers.

depression as being glorified and a fetish, the fetish part strikes me as odd...  hell both come off as odd.  I can see how those in power would want to manipulate and monopolize those who are suffering from real depression. Be it those in the work force or in government.

I would imagine that depression is glorified to an extent because when people see others who are " famous " and have depression or even just claim they do, all of a sudden twitter lights up with the we support you messages, and ever supporter and fan pops up to circle the wagons around one person in the media.... as if that person needs special protection versus someone who has had depression for almost a life time or a teenager in middle school or high school. It is almost as if it is " cool " to be the one who rushes to empathize or sympathize with someone who comes out publicly as having depression, but i find it more aggravating when those who are famous simply come out and announce that they have depression and then that is it; I would be more inclined to respect those who are in the lime light politically or in the media or television etc, if they said not only do they suffer from depression, but emphasized the need for others to understand depression, be aware of the symptoms and how to help those who are close to them who have depression.

some one would have to clarify the fetish aspect.

It is mental illness.   They're taught it in school.  *Everyone* has *their* abuse and are supposed to be *depressed.*  This way big pharma can administer their plethora of drugs to all our kids -- at our taxpayer expense, of course.

It began decades ago.  To be a happy person in the little things of just being alive isn't allowed.  Wallow, groan and moan in self pity, instead.  Nevermind reading a good book, listening to good music, smelling the flowers, having an enlightening conversation, making good of oneself as a Creation of God.

love, e

The title of the following youtube clip is: "People Who Have Committed Suicide (PART 1)"

       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFwcRQ-DCwU

Would a more accurate title be: "Pussies Who Have Committed Suicide (PART 1)"?

Why or why not?

No, because we don't know their individual circumstances or state of mind. Suicidal people are under the perception that things are so bad, that killing themselves is the only way out of it. They're also under some sort of chronic mental or emotional stress at the time. It's an entrapment. The healthy solution is a honest and realistic change in point of view from outside the box that surrounds them. The unhealthy solution is to embrace the dysfunction, leading to psychopathy.

The military uses a solution that works, at least, temporarily. They load a suicidal person up with so many tasks to do and worry about that s/he doesn't have time to reflect on his/her own problems.
The number one cause of all human poverty, misery, and death is not global warming. Itís GLOBAL LYING.

some one would have to clarify the fetish aspect.

I think the fetish aspect is that its obsessed about so much its at the fetish level.

And I think the depression on social media gets people that instant gratification of a warm hug, something they were probably missing due to either having only one parent who had to work or both parents out of the house working and the arrested development inner child is longing for that warm hug.

Couple that with hivemind, groupthink, social status mentallity of a junior highschooler and you get the recipe for The Woe Is Me culture.
This country did not achieve greatness with the mindset of "safety first" but rather "live free or die".
