Music has now become an effective, environment-friendly farming technique that can improve productiveness of farm products and reduce the number of pests.

A vinyl greenhouse located in Gyeonggi-do province found that the number of pests decreased after they turned on music in the area for at least 3 hours every morning.

“Music is essential both for humans and for plants. With the help of music, our strawberries grew more evenly and appetizingly.”

The Rural Development Administration also held an experiment by exposing different kinds of crops to music for 2 hours every day for ten days.

It found out that production has increased by 44 percent and that the number of aphids decreased dramatically.
They also found out that music helped in maintaining the freshness of tomatoes.

Compared to tomatoes that were normally cultivated, they found that tomatoes that were exposed to music softened and changed their color at a slower pace.

Researchers say that this is due to the delay in the composition of the aging hormone called “ethylene”, which is influenced by sound waves.
