Why I Will Not Cast My Electoral Vote for Donald Trump

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/05/opinion/why-i-will-not-cast-my-electoral-vote-for-donald-trump.html?_r=0

Take 2-3 states out of play because they haven't completed court-ordered recounts, then flip some electoral votes, then get the Trump-hating congress to pick someone besides Trump.  Doesn't have to be Clinton.  How about Romney?  It's a plan.

The article at the link above gives a well-reasoned argument.  I'm not saying I agree with it, but the man has put some thought into what he's saying:

The United States was set up as a republic. Alexander Hamilton provided a blueprint for states’ votes. Federalist 68 argued that an Electoral College should determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in demagogy, and independent from foreign influence. Mr. Trump shows us again and again that he does not meet these standards. Given his own public statements, it isn’t clear how the Electoral College can ignore these issues, and so it should reject him.

Yes, Trump will only benefit from a recount.  The recounts are obviously an attempt to take those states out of the count.  Don't the states have just 6 days left  to certify their votes?  Not much time.

I don't trust Stein or the Democrats, but to be honest I trust the Republicans even less.  Everyone seems to think that Trump would be elected by congress, but ALL of the Democrats would be against him, plus all of the Republicans who fought against him during the campaign.  I expect that, right now, the Dems and Reps are meeting in back rooms and talking about Romney, Kasich and Sanders as alternatives to Trump.

Michigan recount stopped after judge says Jill Stein has no legal standing

A federal judge who ordered Michigan to begin its recount effectively ended it on Wednesday, tying his decision to a state court ruling that found Green party candidate Jill Stein had no legal standing to request another look at ballots.

The ruling seals Donald Trump’s narrow electoral victory over Hillary Clinton in Michigan.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/dec/07/us-election-recount-halted-michigan-jill-stein

I hope this truly does end the electoral nonsense.  The deadline for states to certify votes is just 4 days away, and if Trump doesn't get the electoral votes then congress will elect the president.  The Dems in congress would never vote for Trump, so that's a solid voting block, and Trump made a bunch of Repub enemies who might cross over and vote Dem just to spite him.  We could get Hillary as president if the election goes to the House of Representatives.

But this ruling should be the stake through the Clinton heart.  Hope so.

The states must certify their electoral votes by Dec. 13.  That's two days from now.  A piece from 2 days ago:

This is good news:

Federal judge rejects push for Pennsylvania recount

A federal judge dealt another blow Monday to the Green Party-backed push for a presidential election recount in key battleground states, rejecting a request to recount paper ballots in Pennsylvania and scan some county systems for signs of hacking.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/12/12/us-judge-rejects-green-partys-pennsylvania-recount-case.html

This ruling was issued today, the 12th.  The deadline for states to certify votes is tomorrow, the 13th.  So if this had gone through, Pennsylvania would not have been able to re-count all of their paper ballots in time.  Trump will now win the Electoral College vote, unless a bunch of electors jump ship.

Once this electoral nonsense has passed and Trump is the fully elected president of the U.S., the elites will have exhausted their legal ways to deny him the presidency.  All that will be left will be assassination or a "constitutional crisis."  My money's on the crisis.  That's why we continue to see Russia in the news.  Obama may announce that the election was tainted by Russian hacking, so he has to take steps.  At that point I would expect him to point to the "3 million vote" margin in the popular vote before he awards the presidency to Clinton.  Or something like that.  We shall see after this business of the electoral college is out of the way.  Interesting times.

Dang.  363 guests and 6 users online here right now.  Never seen the numbers that low.  Hack attack?

Anyway, today is the deadline for the states to certify their electoral votes.  Nevada did a partial recount, Michigan's recount was stopped, and yesterday Wisconsin and Pennsylvania certified their results:

So, it's all over except for the casting of the electoral votes, but Team Hillary just can't let go:

Federal judge blocks motion by Colorado electors to upend state rules in hopes of not electing Trump

DENVER – A federal judge in Colorado on Monday denied a motion filed last week by two Colorado electors who want to upend the state law that requires them to vote for the presidential candidate who won the state’s popular vote....

I love watching the death throes of the Clintonistas.  The liberal Huffington Post ran this graphic just before the election.  It's one of my favorites:

The electors vote tomorrow.  We've all seen the recent stories.  This one irritates me.  Podesta.  I'll be really, really glad when these folks are gone:

Podesta: ‘The Russians distorted the election’

John Podesta told Meet The Press Sunday morning that he thinks the election was “distorted” by “Russian intervention” and that “seventy members of the Electoral College should be briefed.”
