The authors began their analysis of the emails referenced in this report before the American
Psychological Association (APA) initiated an independent investigation into alleged
complicity between the APA and the Bush Administration related to the CIA and Department
of Defense post9/11 interrogation programs. The inquiry, led by attorney Mr. David Hoffman
of Sidley Austin LLC and his colleagues, began in November 2014
and is still ongoing at the
time of this report’s publication. The findings of the Hoffman Inquiry are expected to be
released sometime in spring 2015.

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole ; He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. - Job 5
