California Farmers On Drought: ‘You’re Going To See Higher Prices’

Drought likely to hit Americans in the wallet

 by CBS Los Angeles

 April 2, 2015

Governor Jerry Brown’s mandatory statewide water restrictions, announced Wednesday amidst escalated effects of the state’s historic drought, mean big changes for the residents of California.

As water continues to become more scarce and the state grows drier, Governor Brown’s goal is to reduce water usage by 25 percent. Instrument’s such as NASA’s Soil Moisture Active-Passive observatory are now contributing to monitor the state of California’s soil as the water cycle continues to bow before the drought.

Brown’s plan requires all 400 of California’s local water agencies to come up with plans to monitor and cut water usage, under penalty of possible fines.

In addition to these reductions, Executive Order B-29-15 (PDF) also calls for Los Angeles and other local governments to replace up to 50 million square feet of lawns throughout the state with drought-tolerant landscaping, as well as requiring campuses, golf courses, cemeteries and other large landscapes to make “significant cuts” in water use.

I think it's time to mentor people you like on how
to grow a garden and how to preserve and use the
harvest from it.  I'm trying to figure out the time line
when we'll all see the higher prices on the store shelves.
I do know quite a lot of produce, and fruits can be stored
well in the freezer, canned up, dehydrated, etc.   California
got so much Fukushima fall out they're not even talking about it.

From the 2nd article -

Quote
Discussions are also under way to throw “water wasters” in jail for up to 30 days, according to another LA Times article. The most likely source of intel for incarcerating water wasters will be neighborhood snitches who monitor water usage of nearby homes and call the authorities if they see too much water being used.

I've already been talking about a mass exodus of people once California dries up
and where, (what states) they will go to.  If anyone can right now, if I were
them I'd put my house on the market.  No water = worthless property.

Everybody that can, plant a big garden this year … prices
will sky rocket, but supplies will be extremely low, shelves
empty at times. The US has to find new sources for import.

Great article.  California running out of water scares Montanans.  We really don't want people transplanting from California here.  They, on the positive side, bring money in but on the negative side, the tend to be rude.

One of my sons works part-time at a Holiday Inn and he says the rudest people come from California, Canada and South Canada (Minnesota).

If you google CALIFORNIA DROUGHT CHEMTRAILS, there are very few articles pertaining to chemtrails and California.  I would bet $10,000 that the chemtrails are causing a lot of their problems BUT I ALSO BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD ALSO BE CAUSED BY FUKUSHIMA OR JUST A NATURAL OCCURRENCE---meaning a period in history of a 50 or 100 year drought.

We have plenty of water and plenty of fish here in Montana.

WHAT SHOULD SCARE US ALL THIS YEAR IS THE FOREST FIRES THAT WILL OCCUR IN THE WESTERN ONE THIRD OF THE USA---MOST OF THEM CAUSED BY LIGHTNING STRIKES.

If we (California) don't have a "normal" winter in 2015-2016 - all h_ll will break loose ...  because there is no more ...

They have already pulled great amounts of water from the aquifers that take centuries to build and they can do it more next year but they will have to shut down calif next summer (2016)

Drought – they say that every stinkin’ year. There’s always some excuse about why they have to gouge you at the supermarket. In the 80’s we had such a surplus of basic produce that we couldn’t give it away.

And forest fires? I’ve heard people openly wishing for a big fire because it means that big, fat teat on the government cash cow becomes available to them. Some firefighters have been duly trained in forensics by ……..wait for it…….

Homeland security!

Gee, they just might know how to start an untraceable fire that’s in the financial interests of many people. Oh, but it’ll be caused by “lightning”, of course.
The number one cause of all human poverty, misery, and death is not global warming. It’s GLOBAL LYING.

I understand the possible disaster there.  So Tahoe, how is Lake Tahoe doing?

Lake Tahoe FEEDS the Nevada aquifers ...  its over 1500 feet deep ...  It's now below the natural rim ...  it will not feed the Truckee river this year - no river rafting ...

At Lake Tahoe, a scuba diver's body is recovered after 17 years

The well-preserved remains of Donald Christopher Windecker are discovered on an underwater shelf. Accompanied by a friend, he set out for a dive on July 10, 1994, and never returned.

August 09, 2011 |By Bob Pool, Los Angeles Times

....

Windecker's body was clad in a wetsuit and buckled into a weight belt and air tank. The scuba gear bore a certification from 1994, officials with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department said. Just beyond the ledge where Windecker's body was found, the lake plunges to a depth of 1,645 feet.
...
"His remains are in amazing physical condition," said Sheriff's Sgt. Jim Byers. "We'll be able to do a thorough autopsy. He may have had a heart attack or a stroke or maybe just ran out of air. Hopefully we'll determine what happened."

Windecker's body was discovered by a group of "mixed gas" divers exploring cliff walls, Byers said.

Mixed gas divers can safely descend to about 350 feet without suffering nitrogen narcosis, or "rapture of the depths," among other problems. Conventional scuba divers have to stop at about 100 feet.
...
He dismissed speculation that Windecker had gone undiscovered for so long because his body had been caught in underwater tunnels that legend says connects Lake Tahoe with Pyramid Lake northeast of Reno.

Some Tahoe locals insist that bodies of boaters and swimmers who drowned in Lake Tahoe have turned up Pyramid Lake and vice versa. They insist the tunnels are the result of volcanic activity.

"Lava tube connections between Lake Tahoe and other lakes are an urban myth," Byers said.

4,400 feet (reno elev) + 1600 (lake Tahoe depth)  = 6000 feet =~ Lake Tahoe Lake Level elevation ( 6,224' )
So the Bottom of lake Tahoe is at about the same elevation as the Nevada Basin ...

Reno is situated just east of the Sierra Nevada on the western edge of the Great Basin at an elevation of about 4,400 feet (1,300 m) above sea level.

Could desalination solve California’s water problem?
http://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/water-and-drought/article3017597.html
Matt Weiser - updated: 04/03/2015 - excerpted

CARLSBAD  —  Along this patch of the Pacific Ocean, welders and pipefitters nearly outnumber the surfers and sunbathers. Within sight of the crashing waves, the laborers are assembling what some hope will make water scarcity a thing of the past.

They are building the Carlsbad Desalination Project, which will convert as much as 56 million gallons of seawater each day into drinking water for San Diego County residents. The project, with a price tag of $1 billion, is emerging from the sand like an industrial miracle. In California’s highly regulated coastal zone, it took nearly 15 years to move from concept to construction, surviving 14 legal challenges along the way.

The desalination plant is being built by Poseidon Water, a private company, and will be paid for in large part by rate increases on San Diego County water customers....

“This plant can’t come online fast enough,” said Bob Yamada, water resources manager at the San Diego County Water Authority, which serves 3.1 million people and is buying all of the plant’s freshwater production. “It’s droughtproof. That’s one of the most important attributes. It will be the most reliable water source we have....”

The state has more than a dozen permitted desalination plants, but they are all small. When Carlsbad begins operating, it will produce about 25 times more drinking water than all of them combined.

About a dozen new desalination projects are in various planning stages throughout the state. Only a few are as large as Carlsbad. The nearest to construction is another Poseidon project, proposed in Huntington Beach. A final permit from the state Coastal Commission comes up for a vote late in 2015....

The Decline of California Agriculture Has Begun
Photos from the changed Central Valley.

By Eric Holthaus

If there’s one thing that struck me during my month long drought-themed road trip through the American West earlier this year, it was the colossal scale of agriculture in California’s Central Valley. Now it seems there’s nowhere to go but down.

...

How are people reacting?

What I’ve observed is that what got these farming communities in the valley through this year was this residual water in this very complicated mechanism. They saved water from the last couple of years previous, and they had water set aside, and basically all that is gone after this year. So there’s no cushion. I mean, it’s going to be bad regardless. Chances are it’s still going to be bad next year, but there’s also a chance it’s going to be severely bad.

It just permeates, in terms of the way we feel, you know? It’s scary. People are scared.

...

Your work is also critical of the modern agricultural system and how it’s become reliant on places like the Central Valley.

It’s easy to criticize farming and the way it’s done here. But I think what gets missed is that it’s just part and parcel of the way our modern life is. You can’t have all these things that we take for granted without the Central Valley. You can’t have a modern life without this kind of agriculture. You can’t have these vast cities without having these vast farms to supply them. The whole picture is, right now, we’re dependent on the Central Valley. I don’t see what the options realistically are if this takes a nosedive. Where are we going to get our food?

10 Global Businesses that Worked With the Nazis

In 2000, Nestlé paid over $14.5 million into a fund to try to deal with claims of slave labor suffered at their hands from Holocaust survivors and Jewish organizations.
The firm has admitted that it acquired a company in 1947 that had used forced labor during the war and has also stated that “[It] is either certain or it may be assumed that some corporations of the Nestlé Group that were active in countries controlled by the National Socialist (Nazi) regime employed forced laborers.” Nestlé helped with the financing of a Nazi party in Switzerland in 1939 and ended up winning a lucrative contract, supplying the entire chocolate needs of the German army during World War II.

Sacramento City Council extends fluoride program despite rising costs
By Ryan Lillis - rlillis@sacbee.com
 07/30/2012 12:00 AM
  | Updated: 07/30/2012 1:02 PM

For more than a decade, politicians, environmentalists and dentists have fiercely debated the city of Sacramento's practice of placing fluoride in the drinking water.
...
And so it was with some touchy deliberation that the City Council voted last week to extend its fluoridation program, despite a report from utilities officials that continuing the practice will cost millions of dollars in water revenue collected from city residents and businesses.

According to a study by the city's Department of Utilities, annual operation and maintenance costs for the city's fluoridation program have nearly tripled, from $350,000 when it started 12 years ago to nearly $1 million in recent years.
...

Fluoride advocates and some council members argued that the cost of the program is far outweighed by the public health benefits of fluoridation – especially for low-income neighborhoods where dental care is lacking.
...
While the First 5 Sacramento Commission has provided the city with a $550,000 grant to help with the costs of fluoridation, that's just a small percentage of what the city needs. In exchange for accepting the grant, the city agreed to continue fluoridation until at least June 30, 2015.
...

Environmentalists continue to criticize the practice, which they argue forces a drug on the public and leads to chemicals entering rivers and creeks.

Kim Glazzard, of Organic Sacramento, told the City Council there are "so many misconceptions of the benefits and risks of fluoride injection." And she criticized the council for making a long-term commitment to fluoridation during a harsh financial climate.

"This is a financial burden on the ratepayers, and it is not prudent to be obligating Sacramento to this three-year contract (with First 5) when the city's finances are already in shambles," she said.

What is First 5 Sacramento Doing to Improve Children’s Dental Hygiene?
Water fluoridation is the addition of fluoride to adjust the natural fluoride concentration found in drinking water and bring it to the optimal levels that provide the most benefit for dental health. Community water fluoridation is considered one of the ten greatest public health achievements of the 20th century. Water fluoridation is a safe, cost-effective and proven way of preventing tooth decay. Studies have shown that communities with water fluoridation experience significantly lower rates of tooth decay in their population.

2007 - 2010 Funding Cycle
On June 5, 2006, the First 5 Sacramento Commission allocated $14 million to increase fluoridation in Sacramento County. Under this plan, 76 percent of children ages zero to five will live within a fluoridated water district by 2010.

Total Funding: $ 14 million
First 5 Sacramento Staff Contact: Debra Payne, (916) 876-5870

Implementation Strategies

The following strategies are based on current research, evidence-based literature, and community input.

1. Provide funding for fluoridation for:

Targeted water districts with the greatest concentration of children ages 0 to 5 in Sacramento County, which includes: Rio Linda, Zone 41 (County of Sacramento), Sacramento Suburban (North), California American (Security Park), and Del Paso Manor, and Water districts that express interest and have a high concentration of children ages 0 to 5.

2. Provide funding as needed for the required preliminary plan, data-led engineering design work and provide a pay schedule of 5%/95%.

3. Partner with other groups such as pharmacies, dental and medical societies, and other community groups to develop and conduct public education campaigns before and after fluoridation of the water, including media campaigns.

With the collaboration of Sacramento County water districts and in partnership with other funders, the First 5 Sacramento Commission will increase access to fluoridated community drinking water. Included in this approach are key players from a number of water districts, foundations, the State Department of Health Services Offices of Drinking Water and Oral Health, and the California Fluoridation Task Force.

Tahoe, you make an important part about real security - food security - yet part of the problem is tied right in there with the good harvest.

While this could otherwise be handled by the free market, there are so many subsidies tied into the system -  often encouraging what they purport to control -  its difficult to call it anything other than gamed.

One, Ryan McMaken wrote an interesting article with a telling title, "In the American West, Water Is a Political Weapon":

So, it would be naive in the extreme to frame this story, as the conservatives have, as some sort of battle between the poor, beleaguered farmer who is having “his” water taken away, and the usurper environmentalists.

Indeed, the water situation is just the latest chapter in a long history of using government to pick winners and losers in California and the west using the allocation of water as a weapon.

Study: Human-caused global warming behind Calif. drought

Human-caused climate change helped fuel the current California drought, says a Stanford University study released Monday.

Climate change has increased the chance that the two main weather conditions that led to the drought —
higher than average temperatures (Ed: ?) and little rain or snow — will occur at the same time, the study shows.

I lived in Tahoe for a while, it is absolutely beautiful!
Is Fallen Leaf Lake still pretty much undeveloped and
beautiful then ever?   I was a prep cook at an organic
restaurant, nothing like making up batches of side dishes
for 100 people at a time.

Moonbeam (the current 3rd term governor) will use this
water shortage to full political gain unlike past droughts.
Most people don't realize what the central valley produces
and already thousands of acres of almond orchards have been
torn out due to no water.  One summer of not watering trees
in the central valley, that tree most times dies.  Almonds need
105* (105 degrees)
"heat units" to produce the nuts for almost 2 weeks, the
central valley gets so blazing hot all summer long, I can't imagine
no water/watering.   Glad we voted with our feet and moved out of state.

There are some "nice" people from California, not many but some :)

It's going full retard fast....here's a snippet from today -

Gov Jerry Brown: Californians to Be Heavily Fined for Long Showers

5 Apr 2015

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA)  said Californians will face heavy fines for taking long showers.

Brown said, “This executive order is done under emergency power. It has the force of law. Very unusual. It’s requiring action and changes in behavior from the Oregon border all the way to the Mexican border. It affects lawns. It affects people’s — how long they stay in the shower. How businesses use water.”

Brown said to enforce his order, “Each water district that actually delivers waters — water to homes and businesses, they carry it out. We have a state water board that overseas the relationships with the districts. Hundreds of them. If they don’t comply, people can be fined $500 a day. Districts can go to court to get a cease and desist order. The enforcement mechanism is powerful. In a drought of this magnitude, you have to change that behavior and you have to change it substantially.”

'Who Does This Thug Think He Is?' Judge Nap Slams Gov. Brown Over Shower Fines
video in the link
April 6 - as see on Cavuto

Judge Andrew Napolitano today slammed California Gov. Jerry Brown for threatening $500 fines for long showers.

“Who does this thug, who calls himself the governor of California, think he is? He can’t make up rules and impose punishments on his own. Only the legislature can do that,” Napolitano said.

Napolitano argued that these orders are being given by a dictator, not a legislature.

Stuart Varney said that there will likely be guidelines for water consumption and suggested that residents will be encouraged to snitch on their neighbors for using too much water.

“What do you think about big government telling you how much water you can drink and use to brush your teeth?” Napolitano asked.

“Not much,” Varney said, and Napolitano agreed.

Harnessing Quantum Entanglement Is Mankind’s Best Hope for Survival

The Mechanics of Global Consciousness
Performing the same research, over and over, under the same conditions and achieving the same results is the hallmark of good research (i.e. replicability). Through the Princeton EGGS experiment we now have solid, replicable empirical evidence that humans interact directly[6] with each other and the world in the domain of consciousness, despite physical barriers and separations.

Art Bell went into seclusion for five years shortly after this episode!

As an aside, one night I was driving cross country and was listening to the classic Art Bell show. He was bemoaning the fact that an area of the country was experiencing devastating drought conditions. He did something that I had never seen before. Art performed a human consciousness experiment in which he asked the estimated 6-9 million listeners to his show to concentrate on bringing rain to a drought-stricken region. This experiment, performed on air lasted for about 3-4 minutes. It was not very good radio because there was a lot of dead air. However, I thought the concept was interesting, and so much so, I followed up on the results and discovered that the torrential rains visited the area when no rain was called for in the forecast. Flooding resulted and when I tuned back into Art’s show, I discovered he was freaked out and swore to never to perform the experiment again.

I took this anecdotal experience from Art Bell’s on air experiment and began to read about the phenomenon. I discovered that repeated experiments demonstrate an effect on experimenter instruments through the individual and combined group intentions in an experiment called the Princeton EGGs in which they subsequently named this power as group consciousness[7].

Here is how the Princeton EGGS experiment works. Subjects sit near a device that produces random numbers, but the subjects have no physical connection to the random generator. Subjects are told to “resonate” with the machine which is called a random event generator (REG) while wishing it to change its behavior to produce higher or lower scores than it should by chance. In short, the experiment attempts to demonstrate the fact that mind can make a demonstrable[8] change on the physical environment in a tightly controlled scientific set of conditions.

The sum of the research demonstrates a highly significant correlation indicating that consciousness can measurably affect the physical world. One of the principal researchers, Dean Radin, says that the “noisiness” of the random sequence is changed. However, the degree of noisiness can vary greatly and can even now be correlated with major world events.

Isaiah 55:10-11

As the rain and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

they do not want  "Christ Consciousness"  actualized in this world ...

The Christ Consciousness
...
Our Spiritual Birthright

Because of our focus on the material things in life, much of humankind has forgotten its true birthright as a child of a loving God. From Cayce's perspective, we are not simply physical bodies, instead we are spiritual beings who are having a physical experience entailing personal growth and development. Many individuals have incorrectly assumed that the goal of being in the earth is to simply reach heaven, find enlightenment, or somehow "get out of the earth." And yet, this is a perspective quite different from that contained in the Cayce material. Instead, Cayce believed that as children of God, our mission was to somehow bring spirit into the earth.

...
The example set by Jesus is apparently a "pattern" of wholeness for each and every soul.
...
The Transformative Power of the Christ Consciousness

This transformative power of the Christ Consciousness is awakened as individuals act in accord with the pattern set by the example of Jesus' life. In fact, this awakening is the essential purpose for which each soul enters into life:
...
From Cayce's perspective, Jesus is the Elder brother for all of humankind, deeply committed to assisting all souls in reawakening to the awareness of their oneness with God. This Jesus is not interested in religious conversion, denominationalism, or even mighty personal accomplishments. Instead, He is simply interested in how we treat one another. With this in mind, even in the midst of our diversity as a human family, we share a common spiritual heritage. We are all Children of the same God. We are all part of the one spiritual Source. And, we are all destined to return to our Creator, our Mother/Father, our God.

I think Fukushima and Geo-engineering are playing a huge factor in this.  If I lived in California, I would eat no Pacific fish whatsoever.

Now is the time to grow your own garden, and also buy produce and meats from local farmers and ranchers as much as you can.

Carly Fiorina blames liberal
environmentalists for Calif. water crisis

By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times - Monday, April 6, 2015

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and potential Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina is blaming California’s water crisis on “liberal environmentalists” who are “willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods at the altar of their ideology.”

“With different policies over the last 20 years, all of this could be avoided,” Ms. Fiorina said in an interview Monday on Glenn Beck’s radio show, The Blazereported. “Despite the fact that California has suffered from droughts for millennia, liberal environmentalists have prevented the building of a single new reservoir or a single new water conveyance system over decades during a period in which California’s population has doubled.”

Ms. Fiorina said that as a result, 70 percent of California’s rainfall “washes out to sea” every year, The Blaze reported.

“California is a classic case of liberals being willing to sacrifice other people’s lives and livelihoods at the altar of their ideology. It is a tragedy,” Ms. Fiorina said.

“Government has grown so huge, so powerful, so costly, so complex, it is literally crushing the life out of this country,” she argued. “It is crushing small and family-owned businesses, which are the economic engine of our nation. It is crushing possibilities out of people’s lives by entangling them in a web of dependence from which they cannot escape. The weight, the cost and the power of government are literally crushing the potential of the nation.

Alex brought up some good points today on
his show (Monday's show) about the drought,
Agenda-21, how the population in California
has more than doubled since the 1970's, and
how the geo-engineering makes it rain over the
ocean instead of on land.

As of yesterday, Lake McClure residents were told to
cut their water usage by 50% starting now or else they
will be out of water by september since they get their
water from the lake.  Lake McClure is approximately
40  miles east of Modesto, California and the summer temps
there get absolutely brutal hot!  Triple digits almost all summer long.
The Merced river feeds lake McClure and the river is real low.

This will only diminish real estate
values, and more REO's (bank repos) , crash the economy,
displace people and this one farmer on the censored t.v. news
said yesterday -

Quote
I'm selling my water to big businesses in Southern
California, because I know if I don't the state will find a way
to take it from me for free

Then the water  use snitching is going to be absolutely
brown-shirt disgusting, already some of the elected retards
in the state are making farmers out to look like the villains
and hello you stupid elected idiots, farmers feed us!   Then
Alex was talking on his show today about the smart meter's
narking on water use to nail people with fines.   It'll turn out to
be one huge money maker.  (revenue)

Then all the people living in high rise "stack and pack" apartment
buildings, just like in past droughts will laugh in your face about how
they are still taking their 45 minute showers because they are not on
a water meter.

Here's a snipette from the L.A. times on the smart meters
narking on water wasters.

Smart Meters Used to Surveil, Bust Water Users in Calif.
Water Dept. using data collected from smart meters to charge customers for overuse

Water authorities are using a new tool in a major effort to crack down on people and businesses wasting water in light of new water restrictions issued by Gov. Jerry Brown to fight the drought.

The Long Beach Water Department says sprinklers at a McDonald’s restaurant on Bellflower Boulevard went on for 45 minutes at a time, twice a night, for an undefined number of nights. Complaints continued to mount as water pooled and wasted. The department, however, could do little about the wasting.

That was before the smart meter.

Desperate from Drought, California Turns to Desalination
8 April 2015
, by Esme É Deprez and James Nash (Bloomberg)
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-04-08/california-sees-salvation-in-seawater-as-drought-drags-on

Excerpt:

As California battled its last severe drought in the early 1990s, Santa Barbara spent $34 million on a desalination plant that proved too costly to keep running when rain returned. Now, the city can’t afford to keep it idle.

“Show me how we conserve our way out of this if these conditions continue,” said Joshua Haggmark, water resources manager for the city, located 100 miles (161 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles, during a tour of the facility he’s working to reboot by the end of next year.

“If a business doesn’t have the water it needs to do whatever it needs to do, they’re going to find it somewhere else and they’ll leave.”

The paradox of California’s drought, entering its fourth year with no end in sight and prompting unprecedented calls for conservation, is that the parched land mass sits astride the world’s largest ocean.

While purification of non-potable water has long propelled other arid parts of the globe, including Israel and Saudi Arabia, California has historically favored cheaper and less energy-intensive options such as redirecting water from the north and storing it in reservoirs.

As concern mounts that historically low precipitation plaguing the state may represent a new normal, desalination projects are gaining resonance as drought-proof hydration solutions.

At least 14 coastal areas are weighing plans in addition to Santa Barbara and San Diego, the farthest along.

County supervisors in Santa Clara County, the most-populous in the San Francisco Bay Area, have renewed discussion on the technology.

Poseidon Water, the company behind San Diego’s plant, is touting it as cost-effective and reliable.

We’re told by economists that the California drought is no cause for concern to the nation. The agriculture industry isn’t being forced into additional cuts. Food prices will increase only slightly.
