New Model Army - Vagabonds

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hRXjMY-RlY

VAGABONDS
(Sullivan) 1987

We follow the taillights out of the city
Moving in a river of red
As the colours fade away from the dusky sunset
We roll for the darkness ahead
Ch: We are old, we are young, we are in this together
Vagabonds and children, prisoners forever
With pulses a-raging and eyes full of wonder
Kicking out behind us again

Night-time City Beat the radio is calling
The lost and lonely in vain
Out here we are running for the wide open spaces
The road-smell after the rain
Ch: We are old, we are young, we are in this together
Vagabonds and children, prisoners forever
With pulses a-raging and eyes full of wonder
Kicking out behind us again

And watching as a boy alone at the quayside
The ships loading cargo in the night
Their names all calling to faraway places
The years go past, the miles go by
And still this childhood romance will not die

From the days when rock was rock, and Kings knew their rightful place...

Rush
A Farewell to Kings
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og_YKsIkLpo

When they turn the pages of history
When these days have passed long ago
Will they read of us with sadness
For the seeds that we let grow?
We turned our gaze
From the castles in the distance
Eyes cast down
On the path of least resistance

Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and
Scoffing at the wise

The hypocrites are slandering
The sacred Halls of Truth
Ancient nobles showering
Their bitterness on youth
Can't we find the minds that made us strong?
Can't we learn to feel what's right
And what's wrong?
What's wrong?

Cities full of hatred, fear and lies
Withered hearts and cruel, tormented eyes
Scheming demons dressed in kingly guise
Beating down the multitude and
Scoffing at the wise
Can't we raise our eyes and make a start?
Can't we find the minds to lead us
Closer to the heart?

This one gets me fired up every time... off to protest the SPP!

Rush
Something for Nothing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8D1t-WCkc4

Waiting for the winds of change
To sweep the clouds away
Waiting for the rainbows end
To cast its gold your way
Countless ways
You pass the days

Waiting for someone to call
And turn your world around
Looking for an answer to
The question you have found
Looking for
An open door

You dont get something for nothing
You dont get freedom for free

You wont get wise
With the sleep still in your eyes
No matter what your dreams might be

What you own is your own kingdom
What you do is your own glory
What you love is your own power
What you live is your own story
In your head is the answer
Let it guide you along
Let your heart be the anchor
And the beat of your own song!

You can look to the left and
Look to the right
But you will live in danger tonite
When the enemy comes he will
Never be heard
He'll blow your mind
and not say a word
Blinding lights--flashing colors
Sleepless nights
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
(Repeat)
The power-mad freaks who are
Ruling the earth
Will show how little they
think you're worth
With animal lust they'll
Devour your life
And slice your word to
bits like a knife
One last day burning hell fire
You're blown away
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll
(Repeat)
Know what it's like
When you're taken for granted
There goes your life
It's so underhanded
If the man with the power
Can't keep it under control
Some heads are gonna roll
Some heads are gonna roll

 Smiley

Beloved infidel, where are you hiding now?
Will you return to me once you've been disavowed?

All the many battles you fought on my behalf
Now your memory fades like a photograph

False gods they will erect offerings they will burn
I am lost in meditation and awaiting your return

Beloved infidel, do i beseech in vain?

Since you departed here, the pendulum swings again
Now the weak are vilified and the wicked glorified
And still you hide away inside a fool such as i

And it is money that they worship and
Lies are what they sell
And fear is their obsession
Ring the liberation bell, beloved infidel

I love Tod Rundgren. When I was a teen I lived in the same town as him (Suasalito) and I served him at the store I worked. He always seem like a really cool, slightly aloof and really stoned guy.

However, check this out:

Tod Rundgren is voting for Hillary

On the compilation Wu-Chronicles, Ras Kass and The RZA feature Jordan Maxwell explaining who the Illuminati are, in a track titled The End.

The song is set to a loop of the theme from The Incredible Hulk tv show...Jordan is at the 2:35 mark.  Not a great song

Hey, Mick, didn't you say that you lived close to Syd Barrett...I was thinking about that post when I read Ummagumma(Name of a Pink Floyd album) and Brocke's exchange about Tod Rundgren.  Couldn't find it, though.  Funny.

BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD    "FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH"  ((a 60's song STILL RELEVANT, EVEN MORE)

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

I used to, when I was at Cambridge, quite a while ago now.
He lives in the 'Milton' area of town.
Curiously I ended up living in Lewes a few years later and my house-mate looked after Arthur Brown's cat for him, I'm plagued by 60s icons.

Never got to meet Viv Stanshall though.  Sad

System of a Down

Tentative, Sad Statue, or a number of songs.

Or even better
Serj Tankian - Empty Walls or a number of songs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqoQkTQqi8o

Hell, Alex should try to talk to Serj and see if he will add his voice...just watch the vid

Yes!  I think serj ought to be a guest and i have a thread on that, his music is so good, but his politics are kind of shoddy

but yeah i agree he needs to play some SOAD or serj i kind of like Toxicity

First I love all 80's metal rock, but sentimentally I would like 'Eye of the Tiger' the one they did in the Rocky movie because it is about rising to the chalenges of your rivals, never getting down and defeated and having great strength. I also like the country tunes he chooses, but I hate the rap.

hmmm Serj Tankian - Feed us

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOxnuQlF0d0

Do you know that life is ending,
As we go, the dots connecting,
We had our chance to save the garden,
As it dies, our souls will harden,
With these words chastising your conscience
Were breaking through and praying for
transcendence.

But you deceived us all now,

You cheat us when you feed us with the lie,

When new damage comes
It's a faceless poison
A new world order
It's new damage done
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
When new damage comes
It's a new word for plague
A new world order
A new word for hate
The wreck is going down
Get out before you drown
The wreck is going down

Please please please!

This is basically Australian unofficial 2nd national anthem

Men at Work - Land Downunder

The video is the first time I've seen it....very odd Smiley

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew

Traveling in a fried-out combie
On a hippie trail, head full of zombie
I met a strange lady, she made me nervous
She took me in and gave me breakfast
And she said,

"Do you come from a land down under?
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Buying bread from a man in Brussels
He was six foot four and full of muscles
I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"
He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich
And he said,

"I come from a land down under
Where beer does flow and men chunder
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Lying in a den in Bombay
With a slack jaw, and not much to say
I said to the man, "Are you trying to tempt me
Because I come from the land of plenty?"
And he said,

"Oh! Do you come from a land down under? (oh yeah yeah)
Where women glow and men plunder?
Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?
You better run, you better take cover."

Kiss - God of Thunder

Youve got something about you
Youve got something I need
Daughter of aphrodite
Hear my words and take heed
I was born on olympus
To my father a son
I was raised by the demons
Trained to reign as the one

God of thunder and rock and roll
The spell youre under
Will slowly rob you of your virgin soul

Im the lord of the wastelands
A modern day man of steel
I gather darkness to please me
And I command you to kneel
Before the

God of thunder and rock and roll
The spell youre under
Will slowly rob you of your virgin soul

I am the lord of the wastelands
A modern day man of steel
I gather darkness to please me
And I command thee to kneel
Before the

God of thunder and rock and roll
The spell youre under
Will slowly rob you of your virgin soul

Kiss - Strutter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxvV75C1a2g

I know a thing or two about her
I know shell only make you cry
Shell let you walk the street beside her
But when she wants shell pass you by
Everybody says shes lookin good
And the lady knows its understood
Strutter

She wears her satins like a lady
She gets her way just like a child
You take her home and she says maybe, baby
She takes you down and drives you wild

Everybody says shes lookin good
And the lady knows its understood
Strutter

I know a thing or two about her
I know shell only make you cry
Shell let you walk the street beside her
But when she wants, shell pass you by

Everybody says shes lookin good

Ice Cube - Today was a good day

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4RY-eJgHHs

[break me]
[shit..]
[yo..]

Just waking up in the morning gotta thank god
I dont know but today seems kinda odd
No barking from the dogs, no smog
And momma cooked a breakfast with no hog
I got my grub on, but didnt pig out
Finally got a call from a girl wanna dig out
Hooked it up on later as I hit the do
Thinking will I live, another twenty-fo
I gotta go cause I got me a drop top
And if I hit the switch, I can make the ass drop
Had to stop at a red light
Looking in my mirror not a jacker in sight
And everything is alright
I got a beep from kim and she can f**k all night
Called up the homies and Im askin yall
Which court, are yall playin basketball?
Get me on the court and Im trouble
Last week f**ked around and got a triple double
Freaking brothers everyway like m.j.
I cant believe, today was a good day

Drove to the pad and hit the showers
Didnt even get no static from the cowards
Cause just yesterday them fools tried to blast me
Saw the police and they rolled right past me
No flexin, didnt even look in a niggaz direction
As I ran the intersection
Went to $hort dogs house, they was watchin yo! mtv raps
Whats the haps on the craps
Shake em up, shake em up, shake em up, shake em
Roll em in a circle of niggaz and watch me break em
With the seven, seven-eleven, seven-eleven
Seven even back do joe
I picked up the cash flow
Then we played bones, and Im yellin domino
And now I am yelling dominoes
Plus nobody I know got killed in south central l.a.
Today was a good day

Left my niggaz house paid
Picked up a girl been tryin to f**k since the twelve grade
Its ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic
The lakers beat the supersonics
I felt on the big fat fanny
Pulled out the jammy, and killed the punanny
And my dick runs deep so deep so deep
Put her ass to sleep
Woke her up around one
She didnt hesitate, to call ice cube the top gun
Drove her to the pad and Im coasting
Took another sip of the potion hit the three-wheel motion
I was glad everything had worked out
Dropped her ass off, then I chirped out
Today was like one of those fly dreams
Didnt even see a berry flashing those high beams
No helicopter looking for a murder
Two in the morning got the fat burger
Even saw the lights of the goodyear blimp
And it read ice cubes a pimp
Drunk as hell but no throwing up
Half way home and my pager still blowing up
Today I didnt even have to use my a.k.
I got to say it was a good day.

Hey wait, wait a minute fool
Stop the shit
What the f**k am I thinking about?

As soon as youre born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if youre clever and they despise a fool
Till youre so f**king crazy you cant follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When theyve tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you cant really function youre so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and tv
And you think you're so clever and classless and free
But you're still f**king peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Theres room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

Heres a Guided by Voices song, Big School

One, two big school
Big school
Servant to master
Sinister bastard
All the worlds are
Colliding all around you
Knowledge escapes you
Society rapes you
I've got my notebooks
And I'm going back to
Big school
It's the big school
Now we're talking about
The big school
Big school
Now if I could free you
What would you be then
Look at my eyes through the telephoto lens
And notice the traces
Of faraway places
We're both driving my car back to the
Big school
It's a million miles away
And it's in the backyard
The big school
And it's way up on the hill
The big school
Big school
Don't look back
Don't you ever look back
Cause it just might catch you
Big school
Big school

Serj Tankian - Charades

I do believe...
You were strong in forming violence !
We were strong performing silence...
I do believe...
You were strong in forming violence !
We were strong performing silence...

We are deceived, all the toys of our convenience,
Opening our hearts to the brilliance
We are deceived, all the toys of our convenience,
Opening our hearts to the brilliance

Love is strong, hearing as loud as gunfire away,
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another way.

If love is wrong, go ahead and end the world with your charades.
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another way.

*Can I get some more piano please ?*

I do believe...
You were strong in forming violence !
We were strong performing silence...
I do believe...
You were strong in forming violence !
We were strong performing silence...

We are deceived, all the toys of our convenience,
Opening our hearts to the brilliance
We are deceived, all the toys of our convenience,
Opening our hearts to the brilliance

Love is strong, hearing as loud as gunfire away,
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another way

If love is wrong, go ahead and end the world with your charades.
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another, another day day day day day day day day day !

Find me a red bag; one without a tag. Hope that you are near; valliantly appear, Find me a red....bag...

na na na na na...

Love is strong, hearing as loud as gunfire away,
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another way.

If love is wrong, go ahead and end the world with it's charades
Never wrong, constantly dreaming of another, another day day day day day day day day day !

Find me a red bag; one without a tag. Hope that you are near; valliantly appear, Find me a red....bag...

"Riot" by Three Days Grace

It's got good guitar in it like in Toxicity

If you feel so empty
So used up, so let down
If you feel so angry
So ripped off so stepped on
You're not the only one
Refusing to back down
You're not the only one
So get up

Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot
Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot

If you feel so filthy
So dirty so f**ked up
If you feel so walked on
So painful so pissed off
You're not the only one
Refusing to go down
You're not the only one
So get up

Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot
Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot

If you feel so empty
So used up, so let down
If you feel so angry
Just get up

Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot
Let's start a riot, a riot
Let's start a riot

David T. Chastain in CHASTAIN the band is a decent facsimile of Priest.

Balkan Beat Box for the bumper music, and also Daedelus. Nobody has probably heard of any of them but ....

Both The Doors & The Dead did different songs called 'Ship of Fools'.

1)
"The Human race was dying out, no-one left to scream & shout,
They've been walking on the moon but 'smogs gonna get ya' pretty soon'.
Ship of Fools."

— The Doors. ('71?)

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/doors/ship+of+fools_20042714.html

2)
"Went to see the captain, strangest I could find,
Laid my proposition down, laid it on the line.
I wont slave for beggars pay, likewise gold and jewels,
But I would slave to learn the way to sink your ship of fools.

The bottles stand as empty, as they were filled before.
Time there was and plenty, but from that cup no more.
Though I could not caution all, I still might warn a few:
Dont lend your hand to raise no flag atop no ship of fools."

— Grateful Dead.

The Flaming Lips - The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNLJfb6jQVk

If you could blow up the world with the flick of a switch
Would you do it?
If you could make everyobody poor just so you could be rich
Would you do it?
If you could watch everybody work while you just lay on your back
Would you do it?
If you could take all the love without giving any back
Would you do it?
And so we cannot know ourselves or what we'd really do...

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power
What would you do?

If you could make your own money and then give it to everybody
Would you do it?
If you knew all the answers and could give it to the masses
Would you do it?
No no no no no no are you crazy?
It's a very dangerous thing to do exactly what you want
Because you cannot know yourself or what you'd really do

With all your power
With all your power
With all your power

Fleetwood Mac - Go Insane

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sK3auO3ICQ

Two kinds of people in this world
winners, losers

I lost my power in this world
cause I did not use it

so I go insane
like I always do

and I call your name
she's a lot like you

two kinds of trouble in this world
living, dying

I lost my power in this world
and the rumors are flying

so I go insane
like I always do

and I call your name
she's a lot like you

so I go insane
like I always do

and I call your name
she's a lot like you

Triumph - Fight The Good Fight

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs_NtwZ4toI

The days grow shorter and the nights are getting long
Feels like we're running out of time
Every day it seems much harder tellin' right from wrong
You got to read between the lines

Don't get discouraged, don't be afraid, we can
Make it through another day
Make it worth the price we pay

The Good Book says it's better to give than to receive
I do my best to do my part
Nothin' in my pockets I got nothin' up my sleeve
I keep my magic in my heart

Keep up your spirit, keep up your faith, baby
I am counting on you
You know what you've got to do

CHORUS:
Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
It's your only way

All your life you've been waiting for your chance
Where you'll fit into the plan
But you're the master of your own destiny
So give and take the best that you can

You think a little more money will buy your soul some rest
You'd better think of something else instead
You're so afraid of being honest with yourself
You'd better take a look inside your head

Nothing is easy, nothing good is free
But I can tell you where to start
Take a look inside your heart
There's an answer in your heart

Fight the good fight every moment
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight every moment
Make it worth the price we pay

Every moment of your lifetime
Every minute every day
Fight the good fight everybody
Make it worth the price we pay
Yeah
