Neosmanism: Rejep T. Erdogan - new sultan
« on: November 16, 2014, 05:16:35 AM »
Istanbul (AFP) - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Saturday that the Americas were discovered by Muslims in the 12th century, nearly three centuries before Christopher Columbus set foot there.

"Contacts between Latin America and Islam date back to the 12th century. Muslims discovered America in 1178, not Christopher Columbus," the conservative president said in a televised speech during an Istanbul summit of Muslim leaders from Latin America.
"Muslim sailors arrived in America from 1178. Columbus mentioned the existence of a mosque on a hill on the Cuban coast," Erdogan said.
Erdogan said that Ankara was even prepared to build a mosque at the site mentioned by the Genoese explorer.

"I would like to talk about it to my Cuban brothers. A mosque would go perfectly on the hill today," the Turkish leader said.
History books say that Columbus set foot on the American continent in 1492 as he was seeking a new maritime route to India.
A tiny minority of Muslim scholars have recently suggested a prior Muslim presence in the Americas, although no pre-Columbian ruin of an Islamic structure has ever been found.
In a controversial article published in 1996, historian Youssef Mroueh refers to a diary entry from Columbus that mentions a mosque in Cuba. But the passage is widely understood to be a metaphorical reference to the shape of the landscape.

(CNN)Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has had no shortage of harsh, withering words for enemies involved in the bloody civil war in neighboring Syria.
Now, he's turning his verbal barrage on a key NATO ally: the United States.
Erdogan ripped into Washington on Wednesday, claiming it's responsible for a "sea of blood" in Syria for what he called its ignorance about dangers posed by other groups, not just ISIS, in the region. Specifically, he slammed America's refusal not just to resist branding Syrian Kurdish fighters as terrorists but in supporting them militarily.
"I told you many times: Are you with us or with this terrorist organization?" a fiery Erdogan told a gathering of village leaders, according to Turkish state media.
Such anger against Washington is noteworthy, though a Turkish leader lashing out at Kurds is nothing new. The ethnic group has been a thorn in Ankara's side for decades, having been blamed for violence as part of its separatist push. Ankara has fought back and is still fighting back, with the Kurds viewed as a very real threat.
Generally, Turkey's allies haven't gotten involved in this fight. But what's happening in Syria -- specifically, the rise of ISIS, which is widely regarded as a ruthless and, at times, barbaric terrorist group -- has changed the equation.

Having replaced its "Grand Vizier" Davutoglu,
Sultan Erdogan ordered his judges to convict journalists to 5 years in prison. "Accidentally" someone tried to kill them in front of the courthouse.
No matter what, the EP has proposed to the EU Council to abolish visas to Turkey.

Turkish "grand vizier" in resignation Davutoglu, politicians, ambassadors and Mufti Kozlić take advantage of the renewal of religious building as a mosque Ferhadia in Banja Luka exclusively political goals in Bosnia but also confirmed that neosmanism is not a "conspiracy theory".
Interestingly, not a word of gratitude to the authorities of the Republic of Serbian entity in the restoration of Ferhat-Pasha's mosque. Not from the Turks, not from the Muslims not from the "international community".

This came a day after the European Parliament voted in favor of a non-binding resolution calling for the freezing of Turkey's EU accession talks.
"If you go any further, these border gates will be opened. Neither me nor my people will be affected by these dry threats. It wouldn't matter if all of you approved the vote," Erdogan said, according to Reuters.

Reuters: Claims that Turkey will hand over the Syrian town of al-Bab to President Bashar al-Assad's forces after driving out Islamic State are not true, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus told the state-run Anadolu agency on Tuesday.
Syrian rebels, backed by Turkish special forces, tanks and warplanes, have been besieging al-Bab since December. Kurtulmus said the U.S.-led coalition had failed to give sufficient support to Turkey's operation to seize the town.
