St. Louis cop kills teen who opened fire, riots ensue

Ballistic evidence shows 3 shots were fired at the officer and a 9mm firearm was recovered

By Jim Salter
Associated Press

ST. LOUIS  — An off-duty St. Louis police officer shot and killed a black 18-year-old who had fired at him, authorities said Thursday. The killing led to an angry demonstration, with some protesters likening it to the August killing of an unarmed black 18-year-old by a white officer in nearby Ferguson.

St. Louis Police Chief Col. Sam Dotson said the 32-year-old officer, whom he didn't identify, was patrolling the historic Shaw neighborhood in his police uniform for a private security company at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when he saw three males, and one of them ran off before stopping.

When the officer did a U-turn all three ran, so the officer gave chase, first in his car and then by foot. During the chase, he got into a physical altercation with the one he eventually killed, Dotson said at an early-morning news conference.

Dotson didn't identify the person killed, but the teenager's mother, Syreeta Myers, told The Associated Press by phone Thursday that it was her son, Vonderrit D. Myers. She said her son wasn't armed, as police contend.

Dotson said that at one point, the suspect's shirt raised and the officer saw what he thought was a gun. "The officer said he wanted to be certain it was a gun and did not fire at that point," he said.

The chief said the suspect ran up a hill, turned and opened fired on the officer, who returned fire and killed the man. Ballistic evidence shows that the teen fired three shots and tried to fire again but his gun jammed, he said, noting that the 9mm gun was recovered.

The officer, a six-year veteran of the St. Louis police force whose race wasn't immediately disclosed, fired off 17 rounds. Dotson said he didn't know how many of those bullets struck the suspect, or why the officer, who wasn't hurt, fired that many shots.

Surveillance video of Vonderrit Myers that has just been released shows the teenager purchasing a sandwich just moments before he was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer.

Myers, 18, is seen with friends at Shaw Market in Shaw, Missouri, walking around, talking and then heading back outside.

In the video, which is time-stamped a little after 7:00 pm, there is never any sign of a visible gun on Myers, who is wearing a fitted shirt and has his pants slung down low, leaving few places, if any, to conceal a weapon.

This comes as major protests and riots are beginning to break out in the area, with police even using pepper spray to control the crowds and protesters burning American flags.

Quote
Authorities said Myers, in white, was known to them and was wearing a monitoring device on his ankle as part of the bail conditions for a previous arrest for gun charges. He was due to go on trial in November

Officers are claiming they recovered a gun at the scene and that the officer did not have a Taser.

Police shooting protests expand across St. Louis

Oct 11th 2014 7:01AM

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) -- Tense but peaceful protests over Michael Brown's death and other fatal police shootings in Missouri and elsewhere stretched across the St. Louis region Friday as organizers urged hundreds of participants to avoid arrest so that they could return for a weekend of demonstrations.

The four-day event called Ferguson October began Friday afternoon with a march outside the St. Louis County prosecutor's office in Clayton and renewed calls for prosecutor Bob McCulloch to charge Darren Wilson, a white Ferguson officer, in the Aug. 9 death of 18-year-old Brown, who was black and unarmed. A grand jury is reviewing the case.

The demonstrations moved to Ferguson Friday night as protesters stood inches from officers in riot gear before demonstrators disbursed. Many then went to the site of a police shooting in St. Louis, where another demonstration is planned Saturday. By 2 a.m. Saturday, St. Louis police had blocked a main road that crosses an interstate highway near Saint Louis University's medical complex, but the heavy police restrictions didn't keep hundreds more - including many newcomers from across the country who joined local residents - from marching in the streets.

Quote
The early Saturday morning protests took place on St. Louis' south side, where on Wednesday night a white police officer shot and killed another black 18-year-old. Police say Vonderrit D. Myers shot at the St. Louis officer, who was in uniform but working off-duty for a private neighborhood security patrol. Myers' parents say he was unarmed.

its sick the way blacks use any reason they can find to riot...with all the young white girls that have been murdered by blacks just in the last month..whites could riot all the time...Maybe whites should...Oh no...they would be attacked and called racist for getting upset that someone of their race was murdered by anther race...I understand divide and conquer ....but its a one way street and whites are getting ran over and humiliated ...which is not good for one big reason...it would give a David Duke a toe hold in politics...we don't want a white Farrakan ...but whites need to find a way to band together and not be called racists or terrorists...

And now we relive the 1960's all over again?

These Nazi bastards are stating a Race War: and it is starting with White Police against Inner City Blacks, and to be honest both groups are at fault: because they follow the Nazi protocol: which is KILL anyone of a different color!

Sounds like the 60's to me!

… on Monday, 10/13:

US police arrest 50 protesters in Ferguson

More than 50 protesters were arrested in the St. Louis area of the United States on Monday during demonstrations over the shooting death of a black teenager by a white police officer in August.

Thousands of people demonstrated as rain poured during the fourth straight day of protests which run from Friday until Monday. Among the arrested were the clergy, civil rights activists and scholars who have traveled to the area from across the US.

At least 50 protesters were arrested in civil disobedience acts in Ferguson, the predominantly black suburb of St. Louis where 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot dead by Darren Wilson.

Protesters were greeted by about 40 armed officers in militarized gear.

Clergy, civil rights groups, activists and community organizers from across the US have helped to lead the demonstrations, which they said is aimed at creating a national movement against police brutality and police mistreatment of African-Americans.

The four-day protests, dubbed "Ferguson October", began on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, thousands of demonstrators from across the US gathered in St. Louis to march and chant.

Ferguson turns into tinderbox once again after new details leaked
By Sara Sidner and Holly Yan, CNN

updated 8:10 AM EDT, Tue October 21, 2014

Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- This is the new normal in Ferguson: Protests, day and night, for more than 70 days now.

Sometimes it's hundreds of demonstrators, sometimes just a handful. But they're always outside the Ferguson Police Department, clamoring for the indictment of Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

And with new details about the investigation leaked, tensions are escalating.

Protesters in Ferguson demand justice

On Monday night, two protestors were detained by St. Louis County police -- including Missouri State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed. She was detained as she blocked traffic in the middle of the street while protesting outside the Ferguson police department.

Now, there are fears about what could happen next.

"Everybody is planning for whatever the grand jury decides," said Amy Hunter, racial justice director at the YWCA. "Certainly there are lots of us that planning peaceful protests for should it not be indicted. Certainly there are other people that have other ideas at hand."

Wilson's story has been known for a long time …
they are just playing out this grand jury thing
to try and prevent more rioting. Brown was
crazed, drugged or something … I wish
cops could do SOMETHING besides shoot people
in the head! However … if you attack a cop,
try to take his revolver away from him …
you can kiss your *ss goodbye.

MOST LIKELY scenario that officer WILSON

UPDATED: Former Police Chief Speaks on Latest
Michael Brown Shooting Information

October 20, 2014

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX) – Information about the Michael Brown fatal police shooting is beginning to leak out, and former St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch says it’s no accident the feds are allowing the information.

Fitch discussed a New York Times article indicating, according to federal investigators, there was a struggle that led up to the fatal police shooting of Brown, with KMOX’s Mark Reardon on Monday.

Fitch calls the information from the investigation coming out as phase two – to “coordinate leaks to the media, and to start getting some of the facts out there to kind of let people down slowly,” he says.

Quote
“If there was a struggle inside that car over a firearm, it sounds to me like Officer Wilson would have been justified in taking the action he did if he pulled the trigger and actually shot Michael Brown in the vehicle area,” Fitch says.

New Information Released on Michael Brown Case
Brian Kelly
October 22, 2014 8:04 AM

FERGUSON, Mo. (KMOX) – A report by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch this morning shows the official autopsy supports Ferguson officer Darren Wilson’s claim that Michael Brown struggled with him in his patrol vehicle, and that Brown did not have his hands up when he was shot Aug. 9.

A source tells the Post-Dispatch that Wilson testified to the Grand Jury that when he tried to get out of his SUV to talk to Brown and his friend Dorian Johnson about the theft of cigarillos, Brown slammed the door shut and punched him in the face.

Wilson pulled his weapon, and Brown grabbed it. At one point, the barrel was pointed at Wilson’s hip, then a shot was fired hitting Brown’s hand.

I just can't believe that his patrol car had no dash cam video.. I'm not too far south of ferguson.. all the patrol cars here have dash cam video.  Some areas they even use body cam video.  Maybe ferguson police are putting tax dollars in their pockets instead of investing it back into the community?   >:(

Michael Brown's mother accused in armed robbery of
Ferguson vendors selling t-shirts commemorating her son's death

*Lesley McSpadden, 34, was in a group of up to 30 people during 'attack'
*Approached Michael's mother-in-law Pearlie Gordon, 54, and two others
*She told them they could not sell 'Justice for Michael Brown' t-shirts
*McSpadden's mother, Desureia Harris, then began to rip down the items
*More than $1500 in merchandise and $400 in cash was also stolen
*Tensions flared in Ferguson on Wednesday as protests began again
*Many wore Guy Fawkes masks for the global 'Million Masks March'

"

According to the document obtained by the Smoking Gun, Gordon told police that McSpadden approached her and said, 'You can't sell this s****.'

In response, Gordon reiterated that she was Michael's mother-in-law and said that unless McSpadden had a patent with her son's name on it, she would continue to sell the merchandise.

Then McSpadden's mother, Desureia Harris, began to rip down t-shirts hanging on a line, Gordon told officers.

Activists: Two days ago it was announced that McSpadden and the slain youngster's father Michael Brown Senior (left) would be speaking at a human rights conference in Switzerland

Ferguson Protesters Beat College Student

Posted by Jim Hoft on Friday, November 7, 2014, 12:42 AM

The Ferguson protest movement held a meeting tonight at St. Mark Family Church on Glen Owen Drive.

The protesters took time out from their meeting to beat a college student.
Then they chased him down the street screaming.

Finally the man was rescued at the local Walgreens.

(From a FB post)

"

Some of us know who he is, his name is Chris Schaefer, and NO, he’s not working with the police, he is on our side. But like I said again, for some of yall to just attack him having him, running down Chambers St towards West Florissant to the Walgreens scared for his life and he steady screaming crying and flagging down cars asking for help, but he only gets help when he runs inside the Walgreens ...

This Ferguson tragedy continues; just as the plan has been from the onset, and it will continue: as it causes social uprising at every human level of emotions.

When human emotions run out of control---only tragedy will follow!

Ferguson mayor sees possible protests in region when grand jury decides

(CNN) -- Tensions in Ferguson, Missouri, have simmered since black teen Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer in August.

And with a grand jury expected to soon deliver its decision on whether to indict the officer, a group that represents protesters says it wants 48-hours notice before the decision is announced so it can help prevent the St. Louis suburb from once again boiling over with anger, violence and confusion.

Michael Brown’s parents make ABSURD demand
about Officer Darren Wilson to the United Nations

by Joshua Riddle

While we await the grand jury’s decision about Officer Darren Wilson, the parents of Mike Brown are busy bees.

They went before the United Nations to talk about police brutality and human rights violations.
(See: http://www.youngcons.com/facepalm-guess-who-will-be-addressing-united-nations-on-police-brutality/ )

It’s unclear how Lesley McSpadden, Mike Brown’s mother, sees the role of the UN. It appears that she thinks they have authority over the United States.

McSpadden is under investigation for a very violent crime, but that isn’t what she talked about at the UN, of course.

“We need the world to know what’s going on in Ferguson and we need justice. We need answers and we need action. And we have to bring it to the U.N. so they can expose it to the rest of the world, what’s going on in small town Ferguson.” said McSpadden.

The testimony at the UN was behind closed doors, but here is the statement they reportedly made:

The document says Brown’s killing and force used by police officers during protests that followed the killing “represent violations of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment.”

It requests that the U.N. panel recommend the immediate arrest of Officer Darren Wilson, who killed Brown, as well as an end to “racial profiling and racially-biased police harassment across the jurisdictions surrounding Ferguson.”

As our friends at Downtrend say, “Just try to imagine if the UN sent police or troops into Missouri to arrest Officer Wilson. You think there’s unrest in Ferguson now; it would be a full-blown war zone with armed Americans repelling a foreign invading force.”

  Hilarious.

DON'T THEY KNOW THE UN AND IT'S MINIONS ARE A BIG BAG OF WIND.

I heard a report that  a nearby gun store has sold over 250 9mm handguns IN THE LAST WEEK.  No telling how many 9mms have been purchased from criminals on the street.  The criminals have probably upgraded to 1911 45's.
