“NATO troops landed in the Lviv region

“Hundreds of NATO troops are located in western Ukraine”

According to Oleg Tsarev a NATO exercise in the Ukraine was planned for March 2014 but the NATO troops arrived early.

Two American warships, the missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG- 61) and the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet Mount Whitney, are in the Black Sea close to Ukraine.

In the above video, a Ukrainian Member of Parliament says that NATO snipers appear to have shot at both sides during the recent events in Ukraine.

Editor’s Note…
Remember those US warships who were so eager to “protect the Sochi Olympics” ? According to Russian sources they have now been detected moving in the black sea towards Crimea (according to their motion vector). As Russia rapidly completes its takeover on the Crimean peninsula, those ships will be able to survey the situation and gather intelligence for the Pentagon. Simultaneously, NATO troops have arrived at the Lviv region in western Ukraine, possibly in expectation for a Russian backed military coup against the NATO installed puppet regime in Kiev. It remains to be seen to whom the Ukrainian army itself is loyal to – Russia or NATO (it is known, however, to be based on Russian military hardware and tactics). If it decides to declare an emergency situation and martial law in order to neutralize the new regime and sweep the Svoboda Nazi gangs out of the way, NATO could be facing a major strategic defeat, at least in eastern Ukraine. Either way, the prospects of WWIII have just increased by a considerable margin.

NATO troops landed in Lviv region
Hundreds of NATO troops located in western Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the Public Chamber of Russia held a hearing on the situation in Ukraine. The event was attended by well-known Russian, Ukrainian experts, government representatives. Bombshell information caused people’s deputy of Ukraine Oleg Tsarev. According to him, began to disembark in Lviv … NATO soldiers. ”In March, planned exercise line” Ukraine-Atlantic alliance. “ Until the spring is still far, but hundreds of Western troops have already started landing in Lviv. They say you should prepare for the exercises. There is information that Ukraine moved to the shores of the U.S. Navy warships. The situation is critical … ”

The event was organized in the OP RF spoke Russian Public Council for International Cooperation and Public Diplomacy, Inter-Commission working group on international cooperation and public diplomacy. I must say that a week ago in Kiev trilateral meeting between the leadership of the Public Chamber, the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council of Ukraine, the European Economic and Social Committee.
After entry videoconferencing took the floor director of the Kiev Center for Political and Conflict Studies Mikhail Pogrebinsky. According to him, the situation in Ukraine is not reminiscent of the best theatrical performance: “I was particularly surprised when I learned that the leaders of our law enforcement agencies conduct peace talks in Kiev with the leadership of the” Right sector. “ This is nonsense! Ultra playing a major role, began to actively speak to the media. Very active on Independence those who in Russia is called “foreign agents” – representatives of humanitarian intelligentsia who receive Western grants. There are not many, but they’re very vociferous, noticeable. When this response civil lifting was observed. Explain it simply – the power of recent years has neglected any informal civic activity, even the pro-government. ”

Chairman of the Russian Public Council for International Cooperation and Public Diplomacy Sergei Ordzhonikidze said that the daily cost of Ukrainian Maidan on peak days reached 80 million dollars. ”It is clear that it can only be a large-scale foreign aid. In the protests in Ukraine involved only 4% of the population. So to say that “the people rose up” is not necessary. ”

State Duma deputy director of the Institute of CIS countries Konstantin Zatulin noted that Ukrainian authorities erosion continues. ”Under the threat of monolithic Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada. Deputies from groups Firtash and Victor Pinchuk ready to go out of control – said the expert. - At the same parliamentarians Rinat Akhmetov, despite persistent rumors remain loyal. “ Zatulin sees no future unified Ukraine: “Weak way out – federalization. If this does not happen, in all growth will be a question about the split of Ukraine. Yanukovych in any case will not be able to become president of the country in its current form. It can be the head of the south, east, perhaps Kiev. However, the president is only stalling for time and trying to restore the status quo – that is counterproductive to act for themselves. ”

Verkhovna Rada MP from the Party of Regions Oleg Tsarev video conference said this week at the Independence expected provocation. They need to constantly warm interest in Ukrainian events. At this time, the MP believes they will have a double effect – smazhut opening of the Sochi Olympics.
In addition, according to Tsarev Lviv began landing of American soldiers. ”In March, must undergo exercises with NATO. Contingent of troops on the documents is limited – must arrive before 1000. They already fly on airplanes. Served all that you need time to prepare for the exercise. “ It is known that in the Black Sea water entered amerikaknskih two warships – missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG-61) and the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet Mount Whitney. Aboard American ships are more than 600 U.S. “sea lions.”Motion vector of American ships suggests that they go to the Black Sea shores of Ukraine. ”All this makes the situation in the country is extremely tense,” – noted Oleg Tsarev.

2014 Ukrainian revolution
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Ukrainian_revolution

Background

Protests originally erupted in November 2013 after President Viktor Yanukovych chose not to sign a political association and free trade agreement with the European Union at the summit of the Eastern Partnership at Vilnius, choosing closer ties with Russia instead. The president had asked for 20 Billion US in loans and aid [42] The Eu was willing to offer 610 million Euros (838 million US) in loans[43], however Russia was willing to offer 15 Billion US in loans. [44]. Russia also offered the Ukraine cheaper gas prices.[45] In addition to the money the EU required major changes to the regulations and laws in the Ukraine, Russia however did not. [46] Yanukovych is widely disliked in Ukraine's west, but remains very popular in his native Russian-speaking east, as well as the south. The rallies were initially peaceful but eventually became violent in January 2014 after parliament, dominated by Yanukovych's supporters, passed laws intended to repress the protest. Russia, hoping to build an alliance of ex-Soviet states, has made extensive efforts to derail Ukraine's pact with the European Union with a mixture of trade sanctions and promises. The European Union and the United States urged Yanukovych to negotiate a peaceful end to the conflict and said they would introduce sanctions against those responsible for the violence.[47]

In the lead up to the February riots, an amnesty agreement was made with protesters wherein they would be granted release from charges in exchange for active protesters leaving occupied buildings.[48] Protesters vacated all occupied Regional State Administration buildings, and activists in Kiev left the Hrushevskoho Street standoff; Kiev City Hall was also released back to government control on 16 February.[48] All protesters, previously jailed for taking part in protests were scheduled to be released after 17 February.[48]

Euromaidan and 2014 revolution

The Euromaidan (Ukrainian: Євромайдан, literally "Eurosquare") protests started in November 2013, when Ukrainian citizens demanded stronger integration with the European Union.[114][115] The demonstrations were prompted by the refusal to sign an association agreement with the EU, which Yanukovych described as being disadvantageous to Ukraine. Over time, Euromaidan has come to describe a wave of ongoing demonstrations and civil unrest in Ukraine, the scope of which has evolved to include calls for the resignation of President Yanukovych and his government.[116] Violence escalated after 16 January 2014 when the government accepted Bondarenko-Oliynyk laws, also known as Anti-Protest Laws. Anti-government demonstrators occupied buildings in the centre of Kiev, including the Justice Ministry building and riots left 98 dead and thousands injured on Feb 18–20.[117][118] Due to violent protests on 22 February 2014, Members of Parliament found the president unable to fulfill his duties and exercised 'constitutional powers' to set an election for 25 May to select his replacement.

On March 1st, Russia's parliament approved a request from President Vladimir Putin permitting the deployment of Russian troops in Ukraine. [119]

I still can't find evidence of NATO boots on the ground in Ukraine, but I did find the drill the U.S. and Ukraine has planned for July. I'm suspicious of the timing.

Initial phase of Rapid Trident 2014 joint U.S.-Ukraine exercise planning completed

The exercise will be held July 14-25 in Lviv region with the involvement of about 1,000 persons from eight countries.

LVIV, Feb 1, 2014 (UBO) - The initial phase of planning for the U.S.-Ukraine Rapid Trident 2014 exercise was completed in Lviv yesterday.

The exercise will be held on July 14-25 in Lviv region with about 1,000 persons participating.

The planning parties considered the possibility of parachute landings from military transport aircraft and helicopters.

Over 50 representatives of eight countries discussed conditions for this international event and developed primary documents.

Event officials said the planners demonstrated perfect teamwork skills. All participants were satisfied with the results of the planning conference, which resulted in completion of a draft of main plan of the exercise.

Primarily, NATO experts will evaluate the Ukrainian units for interoperability with units of other countries.

If this results in a positive evaluation these units will be considered capable to accomplish peacekeeping tasks within the Allied Response Force.

The main planning conference will be held in March in Lviv.

A look back at the very successful Rapid Trident 2013

After two weeks of training, Exercise Rapid Trident 2013 officially ended July 19 2013 with a closing ceremony at the International Peacekeeping and Security Center at Yavoriv, Ukraine.

Approximately 1,300 soldiers from 17 nations came together July 8-19 to participate in the U.S. Army Europe-led, U.S. European Command Joint Training and Exercise Program event designed to enhance interoperability between forces and promote regional stability and security.

“I thought Rapid Trident 2013 was a great opportunity for multinational training,” said Col. Alfred Renzi, director of assessments for the USAREUR operations directorate (G3) and this year’s exercise co-director. Between tactical platoons, STX (situational training) lane instructors, staff officers and observer/trainers, we took advantage of experience from 17 countries.”

Soldiers from host nation Ukraine, along with forces from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Sweden, Turkey and the United States participated in the 2013 exercise.

In the first week of the exercise, soldiers from each nation rotated through situational training exercises, honing small-unit tactics and exchanging techniques and methods with their multinational counterparts. Infantrymen trained on key tasks such as countering improvised explosive devices, convoy operations and dismounted patrolling.

Each of the situational training lanes was set up and run by a different partner nation, offering a broad range of expertise and giving participants a different perspective on tasks on which they may train routinely.

“Rapid Trident provides the Canadian Forces a unique opportunity to work with our multinational partners to advance our skills and those of all participating nations,” said Canadian contingent commander Maj. Stephen Hale, part of Land Force Atlantic Area based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. “Our counter-IED trainers are among the best in the world. The skills they have gained on recent operations are passed on to prepare other soldiers for future operations.”

Several of the forces rotating through the situational training lanes were formed into multinational companies consisting of one or more platoons from one nation combined with troops from other nations, under a single company commander.

“Rapid Trident has been a great exercise for improving small-unit tactics and multinational interoperability, especially at the company level,” said Maj. Brent LeGreid, whose group of observer/coach/trainers from USAREUR's Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany provided oversight and feedback to units during Rapid Trident. “This training has given these soldiers and leaders a great opportunity to share techniques and develop long-term relationships.”

“It is important to understand how other nations work together because we can learn different tactics and show other nations,” said Capt. Joshua Keatts, commander of Attack Company, 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade.

The diverse units were formed into a single multinational battalion during a field training exercise that involved conducting combined maneuver and wide-area security operations against an opposing force. The battalion was built around a Ukrainian airborne infantry battalion staff and augmented with multinational staff elements. Several of the companies combined one or more platoons from multiple nations.

“We built a multinational battalion, even down to the company level,” said Renzi.

The multinational battalion received direction from the Ukrainian 95th Separate Airborne Brigade headquarters staff, allowing both staffs to conduct command post operations to stress their planning and execution capabilities.

“In addition to trainers, Canada provides staff officers within the headquarters elements,” said Hale. “Training in this way with partners ensures we are ready to work together on real operations when we are called upon.”

This year marked the 11th iteration of the Rapid Trident exercises. The exercise was conducted under the name “Peace Shield” from 1998 to 2002.

USAREUR units that participated in the exercise included an airborne infantry company from USAREUR's 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), the JMRC observer/coach/trainers, elements of the 21st Theater Support Command and the USAREUR headquarters. Additional U.S. forces were provided by the California Army National Guard.

As in past iterations, this year's Rapid Trident continued the exercise's focus on airborne and air-mobile infantry operations, with paratroopers from participating countries conducting more than 300 individual jumps from helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft on three exercise days.

Another important facet of the exercise was the participation of several Ukrainian units in a NATO Operational Capabilities Concept Evaluation and Feedback Program. A team of inspectors from NATO's Allied Land Command in Izmir, Turkey evaluated units via a variety of technical inspections and skills demonstrations.

“We signed our evaluations with the NATO monitors,” said Ukrainian Lt. Col. Ihor Zenin, deputy chief of the IPSC and director of the self-evaluation. “The result is (that) we are certified as combat ready. These units are able to conduct operations with NATO forces.”

Renzi said the most valuable thing the units participating in Rapid Trident gained from the exercise was experience working with their partners and overcoming obstacles such as language barriers and differences in tactics and equipment.

“Participants have to fight their way through those frustrations, and they did,” he said. “It was really gratifying to see units from different countries exchange tactics, techniques and procedures.”

USAREUR Commanding General Lt. Gen. Donald M. Campbell Jr. paid a visit to the exercise July 17 as part of a group of two dozen senior military and civilian officials from several nations. Campbell said he planned to discuss future Rapid Trident exercises with Ukrainian Land Forces Commander Col. Gen. Genadiy Vorobiov.

“It’s too good of a training exercise to not talk about it for the future,” said Campbell.

NATO Troops Going to Ukraine in July

The leftist Swedish blog "8 Days" ran excerpts on Friday from the blog of the Deputy Chairman of Ukraine's ruling Party of Regions, MP Oleh Tsaryov. In late January, Tsaryov had charged that members of the Russian State Duma "with ties to Syrian intelligence" had told him that 350 Ukrainians fighting against the Syrian government had returned to Ukraine to join the Hrushevsky Street riots.

On Friday, he described the principle behind the colored revolutions as "engineered chaos." "Ukraine has become the hostage of a global geopolitical game. The U.S.A. wants, according to its theory of engineered chaos, to create chaos and stress at the Russian border." Then he points to interests like the EU, the oligarchs, and the neighboring countries as looking for benefits from a disintegration of the Ukrainians. "Still there are Ukrainians who think Maidan is defending their interests. Naive Ukrainians!"

He writes that the parliamentary opposition have much less support on the Maidan than they have in the general population. Maidan is more and more governed by extremists. The opposition therefore has the biggest interest in liquidating Maidan, "but why are they not even trying to do that?" Tsaryov asks. "Another thing is obvious: After a while, the people will evaluate politicians, journalists, and other active citizens on the basis of what they all have done to keep the country away from civil war. What did you do to avoid bloodletting?"

On relations to Russia, Tsaryov writes that the Russian credit of $15 billion is not all the Russian aid. Common economic programs will provide at least another $25 billion in investments. But a normal Ukrainian has lost up to 10% of his salary, because the dollar has become more expensive during the "Euromaidan." "Compared to that, the damage to the street pavement in Kiev is minuscule," Tsaryov writes.

In another entry, on Feb. 5, Tsaryov pointed to the control over the Maidan demonstrators from the U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine, and the fact that already, NATO troops are being flown into Ukraine to participate in a planned joint military exercise with both NATO and Ukraine in March. (This date may be due to mistranslation; the exercise is scheduled for July.) The exercise, called "Rapid Trident 2014," is under preparation in Lviv in Western Ukraine. 1,000 NATO troops will soon be in the Ukraine.

Also mentioned are troops allegedly based on the U.S. Navy ships in the Black Sea, where Tsaryov says there are 600 Navy Seals. This contradicts EIR's information about the ships in question, which indicates that they can host at most three helicopters between the two ships.

Tsaryov's blog also cites the Finnish Russian Studies expert, Johan Beckman, who is in Kiev. Beckman is cited saying (quite correctly) that after studying the situation in Kiev, it has all the criteria for a "fascist occupation," "which is probably financed by the U.S."

Russia's NATO Ambassador: NATO Involvement in Ukraine Will Worsen the Crisis

Russia's ambassador to NATO, Alexander Grushko, speaking at the conclusion of the NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels, bluntly warned that NATO has no useful role in Ukraine. "The results of the meetings held in Brussels convince one that NATO has no, and should not have any role in settling the crisis in Ukraine," he told Itar-Tass in an interview. "Any attempt [by the Alliance] to raise its profile, or, moreover, intervene will only bring about additional strain and heat up the situation. Particularly inappropriate in this context are allusions to the decisions of the Bucharest summit of 2008 (including a probable prospect of NATO membership for Georgia and Ukraine note by Itar-Tass correspondent), and the 'freedom of choice' slogans that ignore the constitutional provisions about the non-bloc status of Ukraine."

After pointing out that the military exercises ordered two days ago by Russian President Vladimir Putin, are being completely misread in Brussels, as are the reasons why the people of the Crimea are closing ranks against the new regime in Kiev, Grushko slammed NATO's hypocrisy. "Of course, we took note of the NATO Council's statement which contains a lot of provisions on the importance of the political process in the interests of all the Ukrainian people, and on the need to observe the supremacy of law and human rights," he said. "But, however hard we listened to the remarks made, none of participants in the Brussels sessions uttered words censuring the actions of the radical elements, the unceasing pressure on and intimidation of members of the opposition parties and journalists, the onslaught on the Russian language, interference in the affairs of the Church, and desecration of Orthodox temples and memorials."

Russian Foreign Ministry Responds to NATO Warnings

Russia responded to the statements coming out of the NATO defense ministers meeting in Brussels on Thursday, warning Russia not to make any "miscalculations" regarding Ukraine, by pointing out that NATO and the West are already deeply involved in Ukraine, and should stop.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow issued a statement Thursday, noting that the Feb. 21 agreement between Ukrainian President Yanukovich and the opposition groups still has not been fulfilled. "Militants have still not laid down arms, they have not freed administrative buildings, or announced their intention to 'make order' in all the Ukrainian regions, and there are threats of physical reprisals. Furthermore, the government of national unity that the agreement called for has been 'forgotten' and instead 'government of champions,' which includes representatives of national extremists, is being created." Constitutional reform has also been forgotten.

"We appeal to those western partners, who initially supported the opposition and who supported the Agreement of the 21 February, to become fully aware of their responsibility for its implementation," the statement continues. "The statements that this document has already played its role are not serious. All the tasks listed and agreed on the 21 February, have not lost their meaning, in fact they have become even more topical to prevent further polarization of the community as a result of radical actions.

"We must stop interference in church affairs, the besmearing of Orthodox temples, memorials in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, who freed Ukraine from fascism, and other monuments.

"We are seriously concerned about the cancellation of the Law on the Foundations of the State Language Policy in violation of Ukraine's international obligations, which leads to further deprivation of the rights of minorities, restriction of the freedom of mass media, bans on the activities of individual political parties.

"We currently note frequent appeals to Russia, by western countries, for cooperation about issues related to the situation in Ukraine. We proposed this long ago, long before this crisis ever entered its hot phase, however, at the time our colleagues were not disposed towards this.

"Nevertheless, we are ready to interact, understanding clearly that it must be done honestly, based on the ability not only to agree, but also to fulfill the agreements, which should take into account the interests of all the Ukrainian people, as well as all partners of Ukraine.
The implementation of obligations under the Agreement of the 21 February would become an important step along this path.

"The attempts to replay agreed actions unilaterally every time, the lack of any wish to perceive the real situation as it is, never leads to any good. When NATO starts reviewing the situation in Ukraine, it sends the wrong signal. It even seemed appropriate for the NATO Secretary General to mention that Ukraine's membership of NATO is not an urgent priority of the Ukrainian leadership. Does this mean that membership should be a priority, but not an urgent one? They are attempting to decide for the Ukrainian people again.

"We insistently recommend that everybody should refuse provocative statements and respect the out-of-bloc status of Ukraine, which is formalized in its Law on the Foundations of Domestic and Foreign Policy."

Which operation is preparing NATO in Ukraine?

From the beginning of the political crisis in Ukraine, the West, as we know, behaved very strangely, quite openly supported the protesters and holding sharp criticism legitimate Ukrainian authorities.

The longest has not demonstrated his true motives and aspirations of the NATO leadership. But, starting in late January also criticized the Ukrainian government, Brussels suddenly suffered. And the current processes initiated in the depths of the headquarters of the Alliance, has openly smack very specific military threat.

Recall at the end of January, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, "expressed concern" that the Ukrainian leadership allegedly draws army in the conflict. Seen testing his statement, NATO Secretary-General did not say it in public, and posted on the social network Twitter. But it was enough to realize that the main natovets clearly inadequate perceives the situation and his role in the events in Ukraine. "Ukrainian military ... must remain neutral. I will continue to monitor developments with concern, "- said Rasmussen. He added that he was "very concerned about the attempts to involve the armed forces in times of crisis."

This alone is a statement is puzzling. It was not clear, then suddenly began to tell NATO Secretary General Ukrainian military-political leadership, how to behave in relation to their own army? And that means its requirements "leave neutral" military and draw them in a crisis? After all, "draw" power structures in politics can only party political forces, and the government or the army uses in specific situations, or does not apply.

Order of application of the Armed Forces is clearly stated in the law "On the Armed Forces of Ukraine." Army can be used in peacetime, except for various accidents and natural disasters, as in the case of introducing a state of emergency. While the question of the introduction of state of emergency in the country (and, as a consequence, the use of the army) decided in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada, which asserts that decision. Nowhere in the Ukrainian legislation does not stipulate that the question the state of emergency and military applications must comply with the NATO Secretary General, or with someone else. And because "advice" Mr Rasmussen can be regarded as a gross interference in the internal affairs of Ukraine.

But NATO Secretary General on this has not calmed down. In early February, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rasmussen already quite publicly condemned the "acts of violence" in Ukraine, indicating that he meant the use of force by the authorities. He urged both sides to engage in dialogue in Ukraine, stressing that a special responsibility in this case lies with the Ukrainian authorities, rather than the radical militants.

It is not clear why NATO chief suddenly began to evaluate the authority of the Ukrainian authorities on the application of its own law enforcement. Besides, his point of view contrary to assessing the actions of Ukrainian authorities in the crisis of the international community in the face of the United Nations.

So, will the fate just as the day when the NATO Secretary General condemned the Ukrainian authorities, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during a meeting with Foreign Minister of Ukraine Leonid Kozhara said ... its support for actions of the President and the Government of Ukraine. In particular, Ban Ki-moon praised the actions of Viktor Yanukovych, aimed at resolving the political crisis, noting "the importance of maintaining positive dynamics in the normalization of the situation" and stressed "the key role of the Ukrainian leadership."

***

Following a statement by the UN Secretary General has become quite clear that the NATO leadership develops his views on developments in Ukraine, which has nothing to do with international law and the opinion of the international community. It remains only to answer the question why NATO took so grossly interfere in the affairs of Ukraine and dictate their will?

Here you should pay attention to the processes that took place at the same time in NATO countries bordering Ukraine, under the guise of harsh criticism of the Ukrainian authorities from Brussels. As reported by the media, Romania's leadership has put in his army maximum state of readiness for the implementation of the operational plan "Romagna Mare", according to which the intervention provided the Romanian armed forces and special forces on the territory of Ukraine. In particular, in accordance with this plan, the Romanian troops should invade and take control of the Chernivtsi region and part of Odessa region. Then here it is assumed controlled formation of Romania, which later must join Romania.

According to hit the press information, invasion of Chernivtsi region should be initiated by special forces battalion Vulturii, which is to block part of a mechanized regiment of Ukrainian troops in Chernivtsi, and take control of key road. In the Odessa region is supposed to take control of the foremost areas between the eastern bank of the Danube and Dniester estuary. The first echelon of the Romanian troops should make the 1st Mechanized Brigade and a brigade Argedava Rovine.

At the same time, NATO is actually the beginning of the landing in the western regions of Ukraine. So, as reported by the Verkhovna Rada MP from the Party of Regions Oleg Tsarev, now Brussels on airplanes hastily throws his soldiers to Lviv. Formally, they come to participate in international exercises in the Lviv region, and this is even before permission was given to the Ukrainian parliament, which approved the order and the number of foreign troops who will visit Ukraine in 2014 to conduct joint exercises.

In this situation, everything seems to be legitimate, but confused by the fact that the exercises will be held near Lviv in March, and NATO units began arriving in early February.

It remains to add that, according to the documents, a contingent of NATO troops arriving in Lviv, limited - must arrive before 1000 people. But when you consider that we are talking about highly skilled professionals (if necessary may speak for local trainers "training") - is a serious force. Especially against the background partially demoralized personnel of the Ukrainian army and law enforcement agencies in the Western Ukraine, which conducted intensive work by some political forces.

We should also recall about the report regarding the entrance to the Black Sea two American warships - missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG-61) and the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet Mount Whitney, on board of which there are more than 600 American "sea lion". The official version of these ships entry into the Black Sea is known for - protection from alleged "terrorist threat" athletes at the Olympics in Sochi (although none of the U.S. military did not ask, and the more incomprehensible as they are, while in the Black Sea, can withstand the mythical threat in the territory of Russian).

But these ships may be in the blink of an eye off the coast of Ukraine and to serve as a tool or a military, political, or direct military support. After all, on board the two ships - cruise missiles "Tomahawk", anti-aircraft missiles, artillery, anti-submarine, mine and torpedo weapons.

Interestingly both. Both American ships could not be in the Black Sea without the knowledge and consent of Turkey. NATO countries, which, in accordance with the Montreux Convention on the status of the Black Sea straits, it controls access to the sea warships of all countries that are not located in the Black Sea region. This means that the presence of nearby shores of Ukraine missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG-61) and the flagship of the U.S. Sixth Fleet Mount Whitney planned, most likely through NATO.

All these weird movements from NATO raises the question: what scenario invented and now carries Alliance against Ukraine? Of course, it is difficult to assume that NATO is ready so just spit on the opinion of the international community (and especially Russian), to carry out military action on the territory of Ukraine. But here's to destabilize the country, exacerbating the political crisis and conflict, and then suddenly start a "peacekeeping" operation - may.
Such sad precedents are known to have been. Suffice it to recall the Balkans ...

NATO will first commence bombing TV stations, Radio stations, News companies and all other forms of communication, like they have always done in other European conflicts so no truth of whats going on will ever reach the outside.

Remember when NATO bombed civilian TV, News, and Radio in Serbia back in 1999. Then they "accidentally" bombed various embassy's and consulates. Get ready for that to happen again in the Ukraine.

Ukraine: Another Piece in US-NATO-EU Neo-con Puzzle by John Robles + Wesley Clark: Wars Were Planned To Take Out Seven Countries In Five Years

February 21, 2014

A monstrous crime is being committed in Ukraine right before the eyes of the world and the western media is helping to cover it up and distract the attention of the entire world from the core fact that the events in Ukraine are not a popular uprising but a carefully orchestrated synthetic coup d’état brought about by long entrenched western color revolution infrastructure that was installed by US/NATO/EU to bring about the illegal act of regime change on the sovereign country of Ukraine.

The unprecedented violent actions by the armed insurgents, who openly use deadly force on law enforcement and have set Kiev in flames, attempting to overthrow the government by force, are in fact treasonous crimes against the Ukraine and the people of Ukraine as they are being controlled from the outside and violate all internationally accepted democratic principles as well as all of the internal laws and constitutionally dictated standards of conduct enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine.

It is illegal under international law for any country to carry out measures to bring about the illegal change of the government in any other sovereign state, this includes support of any kind for insurgent forces, the implementation of economic and other measures to pressure the government to step down or dissolve and all other instruments and measures both covert and overt that may be used to bring about what is now popularly called “regime change” by the West and the US Government.

International Law

Overthrowing governments and removing presidents by force is illegal and covered in laws and ruling by bodies such as the World Court and even the International Criminal Court, which has become a mere instrument of the West, however the United Nations Charter is the most important document and widely respected of all of these instruments and one which all countries that attempt to abide by international law attempt to follow.

Under the UN Charter all attempts by the US/NATO/EU to influence the events in Ukraine so as to bring about a resolution that conforms to their own interests are illegal.

The debate over US/NATO/EU meddling in Ukraine and the use of US/NATO/EU military force, economic measures, political pressure and all of the other “tools” they use, including aggressive military attack and occupation, to effect regime changes in countries such as Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq, Iran, Serbia, Venezuela, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Sudan and the other targeted countries, has conveniently been absent of one key fact: coercive, forced and outside regime change violates basic all of the accepted tenets of international law.

UN Charter

According to Article 1 (2) of the UN Charter developing peaceful international relations based on the “principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples” is one of the founding principles of the United Nations, and by default the UN Security Council. Therefore any attempt by any country to subjugate or pressure another into implementing measures or carrying out an agenda not instigated from within and not in keeping with the will of the people is illegal. The “will of the people” can only be known through referendums and democratic political processes and debates, not through fabricated pogroms in the streets, which the US is expert at organizing. As for pressure on the government, even the implementation of sanctions is therefore illegal as this is done to pressure a government from the outside.

It is prohibited under international law to threaten to use force and Article 2 (4) of the UN Charter states this clearly and requires all UN member states to respect the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of other states. US/NATO/EU have not threatened military force against Ukraine, as they already have their ground force installed as they did in Syria, Libya, etc. but this applies to other countries they have invaded recently.

Article 2 (7) of the UN Charter states clearly that the United Nations and its members have no authority to intervene in matters which are within the domestic jurisdiction of any state (sovereign country). However the US/NATO/EU have gotten around this by implementing and using what they call the Responsibility to Protect. Uprisings and violent demonstrations such as what is happening in Ukraine fall within the definition of domestic jurisdiction, therefore any outside attempt to interfere is illegal.

Armed Insurgents

What is alarming in Ukraine is the violent and militarized nature of what the West is endlessly painting as a legitimate opposition. This portrayal runs contrary to what the most of the world is seeing right in front of their eyes on their TV screens. Even multiple statements by US officials themselves and a recently released telephone conversation between US official Victoria Nuland and the US Ambassador to Ukraine, show that these are not members of a legitimate internal opposition, but rather radicalized, militarized, trained, planted, funded and supported members of western “color revolution” infrastructure.

The US/NATO/EU continue to egregiously blame the government and are criminally silent when the opposition they support, and in fact planted, murder members of the security forces and policemen. The outright murder, kidnapping and extreme violence against police and security forces should be something that would cause an outcry among police officers worldwide, especially in the US, where their police are given almost god-like reverence, yet the so called “international community” and members of the world’s law enforcement bodies are silent.

Nothing that the insurgents have done would be supported in any US/NATO/EU country or city, yet they continue to call on, threaten and pressure the authorities in Ukraine to not interfere or take required measures. The violent insurgents have made a mockery of law and order and have literally set the capital of a civilized, democratic European country on fire.

Storming, seizing and burning down the buildings which house the instruments and bodies of the state; openly shooting, murdering, kidnapping and falsely detaining members of law enforcement; destroying and setting alight the property of the state and the people; organizing the pogrom we are seeing in Ukraine; violating the law and acting against their own constitution; blackmailing and threatening officials to step down or be complaint and finally promoting policies that are not in keeping with the desires of the Ukrainian people, are all factual aspects of the Ukrainian “opposition”. So why is US/NATO/EU openly supporting them?

Business As Usual for US/NATO/EU

In my journalistic work I have attempted to robustly detail for years what US/NATO have been doing in their redesigning of world’s geopolitical landscape and I cannot repeat this enough, what we are seeing in Ukraine is just another regime change for the West. The tactics they use are always the same, we have seen them and documented them time and again and they continue to be illegal and egregious. Yet they continue with impunity.

All of the regime change actions and provocations that US/NATO/EU have used in Ukraine have been documented and exposed before the fact, yet the US president, EU leaders and their compliant media continue to egregiously stick to their own artificial pre-planned narrative.

The goal was regime change because US/NATO/EU understood that the Ukrainian Government and more importantly the Ukrainian people would not allow their country to be subverted and become yet another US/NATO/EU client state. More importantly this turn to Russia seriously interferes with US/NATO/EU military plans to base US/NATO missiles in Ukraine, evict the Russian Black Sea Fleet and achieve their prime military objective of neutralizing Russia and eliminating Russia’s response to a first strike nuclear attack, which at the end of the day is the goal. The people of Ukraine and the organs of government are just inconveniences for US/NATO/EU and even if the country is completely destroyed and divided, their goal will be carried out. The destruction of the state of Ukraine will in fact benefit the US/NATO/EU and this fact we have seen repeatedly in the last 15 years.

Obama Connects Syria and Ukraine

In comments related to a soon to be released Voice of Russia interview Professor Francis Boyle a professor of international law at the University of Illinois College of Law told me the following:

“Obama said that the people of the Ukraine should be able to determine their own future just like the people of Syria should be able to determine their own future. So Obama himself linked the two. The strategy is the same: regime change, civil war, destruction of the State. So this elevates the call by the State Department for a transition to a government of technocrats to the presidential level. The cat is out of the bag. Regime Change of the democratically elected government of Ukraine is openly admitted to be USG policy. Even worse than Syria, whose government was arguably not really democratic. Nevertheless as I point out in my book, the demand for regime change by one government against another government is illegal and violates the World Court’s ruling against the United States in the Nicaragua decision (1996).”

Media Failure

The western mass media continues to promote and spread a phony slanted narrative of the events in Ukraine and their attempts have been formidable and almost impossible to counter. This concerns mostly the nature and portrayal of the police murdering opposition which, like the cop killers in the Caucuses, the West portrays as heroes and some sort of freedom fighters.

Again the hypocrisy of the West in Ukraine is resounding and completely obvious, yet they continue with impunity. US illegality and their complete and total disregard for international law continue to stare the world in the face in Guantanamo and worldwide, yet the compliant media has failed as US illegality has now spread like a cancer to include all NATO/EU countries.

It is another black day for the world as we see that the mass media has completely failed and been corrupted in the West. All of the facts surrounding the murderous insurgents in Ukraine and their bloody uprising and the collusion of the Central Intelligence Agency, US/NATO/EU and the West are being conveniently ignored as the subservient media chooses to attempt to go so far as to blame Russia which has from day one made it a point not to interfere.

Nowhere do we see debates going on regarding: the over $50 billion the US has spent buying out Ukraine; the admission by Victoria Nuland of US meddling in her telephone conversation, during which she implicated the head of the UN in US/NATO/EU plans; the training and equipping of the insurgents by US/NATO/EU; the fact that all outside pressure and meddling is illegal nor the fact that if anything similar happened in the West it would in no way be allowed.

Wake Up Call

They have won and Ukraine has fallen. The President of Ukraine has stated he will step down, which was the first call by the US/NATO/EU, when the first encampments appeared on Maidan Square. This was their clear goal and even though we documented it they have won. However what they have in fact done is committed another crime on an international scale.

Will anyone answer for the crime of subversion and for violating the sovereignty of Ukraine? Not likely. Therefore this should be a serious wake up call to all countries of the world, but will it? Also not likely.

What is striking in Ukraine was that it was a democratically elected government, that all of the US/NATO/EU plans were know from the start and that it was still allowed to proceed.

Once again, as we saw in Iraq, Libya and all other countries where the governments have been recently overthrown and the leader executed or otherwise removed (with North Korea being the perfect example) the only protection that any country has from the imposition of US/NATO/EU regime change is quite simply nuclear weapons.

US/NATO Obama/Neo-Con Plans and Impunity

After 9-11 Neo-Con Paul Wolfowitz, the then US Deputy Secretary of Defense stated that the US Government is now in the business of destroying countries, executing presidents and changing governments at will.

General Wesley Clark who was the Supreme Allied Commander of NATO, took issue with the Neo-Con architects from the Project for a New American Century (LINK 5) and gave testimony that the US planned to overthrow seven countries after 9/11: Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Iran.

Mr. Clark called the post 9-11 overtaking of the US Government a coup and said it was plotted by Dick Cheney, Don Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and “a half dozen other collaborators from the Project for the New American Century”. In a report Glen Greenwald cites a US Secretary of Defense Memo which gave even more detail and put a timeframe on the plan:

“I just got this memo from the Secretary of Defense’s office. It says we’re going to attack and destroy the governments in 7 countries in five years – we’re going to start with Iraq, and then we’re going to move to Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran.”

Greenwald reported that General Clark was shocked and wrote about the following exchange:

“And we’ve got about 5 or 10 years to clean up those old Soviet regimes – Syria, Iran [sic], Iraq – before the next great superpower comes on to challenge us.” Clark said he was shocked by Wolfowitz’s desires because, as Clark put it: “the purpose of the military is to start wars and change governments? It’s not to deter conflicts?”.” Clark said he was shocked by Wolfowitz’s desires because, as Clark put it: “the purpose of the military is to start wars and change governments? It’s not to deter conflicts?”

A New Regime Would Be Illegal

Any regime installed in any way other than trough democratic elections in Ukraine and under the current crisis will be illegal. President Yanukovich despite being weak and some might argue incompetent in maintaining stability in his country, was democratically elected in elections that were recognized by the entire world. This is important to underline.

Even though he was placed in a Catch 22 situation by the West where if he cracked down he would be demonized and if he did not he would be overthrown, his handling of the internal crisis leaves a lot of questions to be answered.

Timing of Ukrainian Coup

It is also important to note the similarities between the timing of the events in Ukraine and the invasion by Georgia of South Ossetia. Both taking place during Olympics and again the words of Neo-Con Paul Wolfowitz: “… we’ve got about 5 or 10 years to clean up those old Soviet regimes before the next great superpower comes on to challenge us.”

Ukraine is the crowning jewel and it looks like they will obtain it.

Is NATO's Trojan Horse Riding Toward the 'Ukraine Spring' by Dennis Kucinich

14 December 13

Ukrainian citizens have rallied in the bitter cold at Independence Square in Kiev to demand a better economic future and to protest President Viktor Yanukovych's failure to sign an economic agreement with the EU.

But while the draft of the EU "Association Agreement" is being sold as an economic boon for Ukrainian citizens, in reality it appears to be NATO's Trojan Horse: a massive expansion of NATO's military position in the region. What's more, the Agreement occurs under the cover of nebulous economic promises for a beset population hungering for better wages.

In a country where the average monthly minimum wage stands at about $150 USD, it's not hard to understand why Ukrainians are in the streets. They do not want to be in Russia's orbit, nor do they want to be pawns of NATO.

But is the plight of Ukrainians being exploited to usher in a new military agreement under the guise of economic reform?

For NATO, the goal is expansion. The prize is access to a country that shares a 1,426-mile border with Russia. The geopolitical map would be dramatically reshaped by the Agreement, with Ukraine serving as the new front for Western missile defense at the doorstep of Russia. Should the U.S. nuclear deal with Iran fall apart, Ukraine could be employed in larger regional disputes, too.

As an EU deal appears imminent, few people are asking questions about NATO's role in the deal, which was meant to facilitate jobs and trade. Economic conditions in Ukraine are dire: $15 billion in IMF loans suspended, danger of default and a zero growth forecast.

While NATO is not specifically mentioned in the draft of the "Association Agreement," the proposal, which was posted online (and translated to English here) by the Ukrainian cabinet in August, pledges convergence of foreign and security policy.

Read: NATO expansion.

For instance, in the draft of the Agreement, foreign and security policy mandates:

"The Parties shall explore the potential of military and technological cooperation. Ukraine and the European Defence Agency (EDA) will establish close contacts to discuss military capability improvement, including technological issues."

The draft of the Agreement's preamble links Ukraine to "ever closer convergence of positions on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest" including the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the European Union and the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) -- which underscores the military nature of the agreement.

Since 22 of 28 members of the EU have NATO membership, there is little doubt that Ukraine is being drawn into the broad military arrangement with EU nations.

If the EU Agreement is ratified, Ukraine will inevitably spend a higher percentage of its GDP for military purposes, steering critical resources from social programs and job opportunities. In 2012, Ukraine's military budget already increased 30 percent - to $2 billion, representing a comparatively low 1.1 percent of GDP. NATO members agree to spend at least 2 percent of GDP on defense.

NATO members are also under pressure to contribute more and more of their GDP to military expenditures. "It is time to move beyond the '2 percent rule,'" says the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The former U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Ivo Daalder, in his farewell remarks in June, 2013, described the sentiment:

"The gap between American and European contributions to the Alliance is widening to an unsustainable level. Something must be done. The trends need to be reversed."

When military spending goes up, domestic spending goes down. The winners are unlikely to be the people of Ukraine, but instead the "people" of Lockheed-Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing and other defense interests. The Ukrainians didn't go to Independence Square to rally for NATO. Yet NATO's benefit is clear. Less clear is whether Ukrainians will receive key economic benefits they seek.

To wit, the preamble to the Agreement is hazy on the implementation of visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine, a crucial incentive for struggling workers seeking better jobs. The draft of the Agreement is vague, calling for the visa issue to be introduced "in due course." It also asserts that EU nations could block the movement of self-employed Ukrainians to other job markets.

For Greece, Spain and others, EU membership hasn't turned out to be a shining economic savior. The return of austerity policies reminds one of Naomi Klein's warning about the perils of disaster capitalism, in which instability opens the door for exploitation from outside forces.

For the protesters in Kiev, standing tall for democracy and economic opportunity, there's suddenly a new worry: Disaster Militarism. Ukrainians may be pro-EU, but are the EU and NATO pro-Ukrainian?

NATO will first commence bombing TV stations, Radio stations, News companies and all other forms of communication.

The bottom line, Russia offered to bail out the Ukraine/money, cheaper fuel, etc.
The  Ukraine REBS opposition backed by the Western powers continue to raise hell. Russia's offer of continued assistance failed, the opposition chooses the EU etc. They stepped in to provide security for the Bases, demostrating to other forces they would not back down. a Yup,or, NO..

Or Russia wants rumble with the U.N run  NATO forces  and intend to wage war. Yup, NO.
Strange, this reminds me of the tactics use in several nations the elites have comprised and set up shop. Yup,0r NO..

Backtracking:
The UN basically went along with the attack on Iraq and put an end to all those hellish factory's of WMD's and their stockpile of nuke material ( yellow cake). Ironically there was nuthin fabicated H.S... Despite the fact a few hundred thousand were slaughtered, our nation deepened in debt and blood spilled, It was all hunky dory.
They topped of this show by hanging Saddam , the big top MSM
P.S. Our rebel backed forces did a job on Libya's guy as well, beating him and ending sodomizing the slob with a hunting knife.
Why mention this you wonder, its the truth.

I am not particularly fond of any of those in power, and no I am not Russian or communist.
The motivation here is as allway's, money, power , control .
Every war that I'm aware of has been on the table, planned, is this to be an all out war or will they sit down and split up the take.   It isn't coming home, it's already here, they have preparing for this for some time.
In the end-Bye Bye American pie.

U.S. to Russia: "Pull out of Ukraine immediately!" Russia to US "Talk To The Hand"
http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2014/03/01/crimean-putin-russia-ukraine/5922731/

MOSCOW — Stunned by Russia's swift move into the autonomous province of Crimea and the Russian parliament's endorsement of that brazen action, the United States called on Moscow to withdraw its forces from the region and "refrain from any interference elsewhere in Ukraine."

Speaking by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the first time since this crisis escalated, President Obama expressed concern over "Russia's clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity," according to a White House statement.

"President Obama made clear that Russia's continued violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would negatively impact Russia's standing in the international community," the statement said.

However, Putin remained defiant, telling Obama that not only can Russia send its troops to Crimea, but to all of predominantly Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine due to "the existence of real threats" to Russian citizens in Ukrainian territory, according to a statement on the Kremlin's website.

Earlier Saturday, top U.S. officials gathered at the White House in a high-level meeting to review Russia's military moves into Ukraine and determine a response.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry in a statement released Saturday evening reiterated the United State's stance. Kerry said he had talked to Ukraine's acting President Oleksandr Turchynov and assured him that Turchyno had "the strong support of the United States and commend the new government for showing the utmost restraint in the face of the clear and present danger to the integrity of their state, and the assaults on their sovereignty."

"Unless immediate and concrete steps are taken by Russia to deescalate tensions, the effect on U.S.-Russian relations and on Russia's international standing will be profound," Kerry said in the statement.

He added, "The people of Ukraine want nothing more than the right to define their own future – peacefully, politically and in stability."

Russia insisted the action was to keep the peace between pro-Moscow Ukrainians and those who want ties to Europe. Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., saw other motives.

"I am deeply concerned that Russia's ongoing military intervention in Crimea may soon expand to eastern Ukraine," he said. "Yesterday, President Obama said that Russia would face 'costs' if it intervened militarily in Ukraine. It is now essential for the president to articulate exactly what those costs will be and to take steps urgently to impose them."

U.S. Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel spoke by phone with Russia's Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu Saturday morning.

"He reminded Minister Shoygu that these activities ran counter to Russia's international treaty obligations and stated position that it would respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," according to the Pentagon's press secretary, Rear Adm. John Kirby. "Secretary Hagel stressed that, without a change on the ground, Russia risks further instability in the region, isolation in the international community and an escalation that would threaten European and international security."

STORY: Congress pushes for Russia sanctions, Ukrainian aid

The United Nations also met Saturday for an emergency session requested by the United Kingdom. In an open meeting later Saturday afternoon, Ukraine's U.N. ambassador, Yuriy Sergeyev, claimed 15,000 Russian troops are now in Crimea.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call to "urgently engage in direct dialogue with the authorities" in Kiev.

Calling the situation in Ukraine "as dangerous as it is destabilizing," U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Samantha Power told the council, "It is time for the Russian military intervention in Ukraine to end."

Power and other members of the council called for sending international monitors to Ukraine as soon as possible to observe the situation, and Power warned that "Russia's provocative actions could easily push the situation beyond the breaking point." She also mentioned work on an international mediation mission to send to Ukraine.

Russia appeared to have gone ahead with a military takeover of the Crimea Peninsula in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops from the Black Sea port of Stevasopol were seen moving through various parts of the region.

Andriy Ignatov, a Ukrainian in Crimea, told Kiev Post that the troops are facing no resistance by local residents but aren't being feted either.

"I see no enthusiasm for the arrival of the troops, maybe because they have no insignias," he told the newspaper. "There's no cheering crowds, no flowers. The attitude is pretty much, 'Let's go with the flow.' "

There is concern about what happens next, he added. "People ask, 'Are we going to be part of Russia now? Well, then, OK, as long as there's no fighting.' "

Ukraine: New PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk says country refuses to respond with force to Russian 'provocation'
Ukraine's new prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk says his country is refusing to respond with force to what he calls Russian "provocation" in Crimea.

The instability in Ukraine has heightened diplomatic tension, with the United States warning Russia against military intervention in the Black Sea Peninsula.

"The inadequate presence of Russian troops on Ukrainian territory is a provocation, and Russian attempts to make Ukraine react with force have failed," Mr Yatsenyuk said at a televised cabinet meeting.

"It is unacceptable when armoured Russian military vehicles are out in the centre of Ukrainian towns.

"We do not give in to provocative actions, we do not use force and we demand that Russia stop its provocative actions and return the troops to base."

Ukraine's defence chief accused Russia of sending 6,000 troops and 30 armoured personnel carriers into Crimea as the restive peninsula tries to gain broader independence from new pro-EU leaders in Kiev.
Defence minister Igor Tenyukh told the cabinet meeting that Russia began sending these reinforcements on Friday "without warning or Ukraine's permission, in defiance of the principle of non-infringement of state borders."

The US ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, says Ukraine's new government has to be allowed to do its work.

"The United States would condemn any move to undermine Ukraine's sovereignty or territorial integrity which we expect all states to respect," she said.

"The best way for the people of Crimea to achieve their goals is to work peacefully within the established political system.

"To this end the United States calls for an urgent international mediation mission to the Crimea to begin to de-escalate the situation."

British foreign secretary William Hague will visit Kiev on Sunday for talks with the interim Ukrainian government, a British foreign office spokesman said.

The spokesman had no further details about the trip, but Hague tweeted: "Have just spoken to Acting President Turchynov. I will travel to Kiev on Sunday for talks with the new government."

More than 10,000 people carrying Russian flags were protesting on Saturday in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk, the stronghold of ousted president Viktor Yanukovych, an AFP journalist said.

Protesters declared they supported "the aspirations of Crimea to rejoin Russia".
Any Russian intervention will be costly: Obama

Overnight, US president Barack Obama issued a warning to Russia that "there will be costs" for any military intervention in neighbouring Ukraine.

"We are now deeply concerned by reports of military movements taken by the Russian Federation inside of Ukraine," he said.
"Any violation of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity would be deeply destabilising, which is not in the interest of Ukraine, Russia or Europe.

"It would represent a profound interference in matters which must be determined by the Ukrainian people. It would be a clear violence of Russia's commitment to respect the independence and sovereignty and borders of Ukraine, and of international laws.

"The United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine."

On Friday, Mr Yanukovych made his first public comments since fleeing the country and seeking protection in Russia.

He provoked protests in Ukraine in November by backing out of plans to sign landmark deals with the European Union and instead saying Kiev would seek closer economic and trade ties with its former Soviet master Russia.
Seven things to know about Crimea

The Crimean Peninsula is rich in arable land and occupies a strategically important location on the Black Sea.
Crimea has a population of 2.3 million, 58 per cent of whom speak Russian and identify themselves as ethnic Russians.
The Soviet Union transferred authority over Crimea to Ukraine in 1954.
Ukraine retained control after the collapse of the USSR in a 1994 agreement brokered by the US, UK and France.
Russia's major naval base is located in the capital of Sevastopol and is the base for their Black Sea Fleet. Russia's lease on the base expires in 2042.

The lease states that Russian personnel may not remove military equipment or vehicles outside the base without permission from Ukraine.
The region was a stronghold for ousted president Viktor Yanukovych.

Russia’s Military in Crimea

Note they have always been there, according to the treaty they are allowed to move around the Crimea. The important ones to note is that they have Kerch (see far right hand side of map) - but they do not have the northern military airfields.

Crimea may be headed for secession from the Ukraine

Mar 1, 2014     By Ken Hanly

Sevastopol - The Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea has dismissed the regional government and elected a pro-Russia party leader as the new chair.

The MPs also voted to hold a referendum to determine the future of the Crimea on May 25 a date that coincides with elections planned by the central transitional government. The vote for the dissolution was quite large with 55 of 64 MPs voting in favor of the resolution. The motion claims that in 2013 the work of the regional government had been unsatisfactory.

In the coal-rich Donbass region in the eastern part of the Ukraine, the city council of Donetsk rejected the authority of the transitional Ukrainian government, and also called for a referendum on the status of the Donbass region urging the local parliament to immediately set a date. The council also voted to set up self-defense squads.

Prime Minister: Russia Has Declared War on Ukraine

“We are on the brink of disaster”

Moscow’s move to occupy Crimea with Russian troops is a declaration of war on Ukraine according to interim Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

VIDEO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fPa5_zEkaok

“This is actually a declaration of war on my country. We urge Putin to pull back his troops from this country and honour bilateral agreements. If he wants to be the president who started a war between two neighboring and friendly countries, he has reached his target within a few inches,” said Yatseniuk, warning, “We are on the brink of disaster.”

Although there has been no violence, Russian troops now occupy key positions throughout the Crimean peninsula, including airports and communication hubs.

Kiev’s post-overthrow government responded by ordering a full military mobilization of Ukrainian forces. BBC News reports that Russian troops are surrounding Ukrainian army bases in addition to, “digging trenches on the border with mainland Ukraine.”

Many Ukrainian armed forces in Crimea resigned their positions and are expected to take military oaths and switch sides, according to reports.

Although technically part of Ukraine, Crimea is an Autonomous Republic and authorities there have firmly sided with Russia over the conflict. Vladimir Konstantinov, Chairman of the republic’s Supreme Council, urged NATO not to send troops into the region.

“We have not asked NATO to send troops. This land belongs to the Russian world. We would like everyone to remember that. It’s a millennium-old history. The people of Russia and Ukraine belong to the Russian world,” said Konstantinov.

US Secretary of State John Kerry reacted by issuing a series of threats, warning that Russia could be kicked out of the G8, or that the U.S. could freeze Russian business assets and precipitate a collapse of the rouble.

President Barack Obama said that Russian troop movements represent a “violation of Ukrainian sovereignty”.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that 675,000 Ukrainians left Ukraine for Russia in January and February over fears that a humanitarian catastrophe was unfolding.

U.S. Prepares to Recall Diplomats, Impose Sanctions on Russia

Call for military assistance to the coup government in Kyiv

On Sunday Republicans mounted attacks against President Obama over what they consider his inappropriate response to the crisis in Ukraine.

VIDEO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=O311hFsmgJM

Rep. Mike Rogers, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russians have “been running circles around us.”

“Putin is playing chess, and I think we are playing marbles — and I don’t think it’s even close,” he said.

“I believe it’s the naïve position of the National Security Council and the president’s advisers that, if we just keep giving things to Russia, they’ll wake up and say, ‘the United States is not that bad,’” Rogers said. “That is completely missing the motivations of why Russia does what Russia does.”

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told CNN “we have a weak and indecisive president,” and Obama’s lack of bellicose response “invites aggression.”

“None of us should be under any illusion about what President Putin is capable of doing in Ukraine,” said Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, in a statement. “Every moment that the United States and our allies fail to respond sends the signal to President Putin that he can be even more ambitious and aggressive in his military intervention in Ukraine.”

“Every moment that the United States and our allies fail to respond sends the signal to President Putin that he can be even more ambitious and aggressive in his military intervention in Ukraine,” McCain said in a statement. “There is a range of serious options at our disposal at this time without the use of military force. I call on President Obama to rally our European and NATO allies to make clear what costs Russia will face for its aggression and to impose those consequences without further delay.”

On Saturday the junior senator from Florida, Republican Marco Rubio, took to the pages of Politico to condemn Putin and Russia. “This is a critical moment in world history,” he ominously warned. “The credibility of the alliances and security assurances that have preserved the international order is at stake. If Putin’s illegal actions are allowed to stand unpunished, it will usher in a dark and dangerous era in world affairs.”

Rubio enumerated eight steps required “to punish Russia,” including convening an emergency meeting of NATO, boycotting the planned G8 meeting in Sochi, and adding Russian officials to the Magnitsky list, which imposes travel bans and other sanctions.

Rep. Tom Cotton, an Arkansas Republican, a member of the House Foreign Relations Committee, said the decision by the upper house of the Russian Duma to respond militarily to protect Russia’s interests in Ukraine is an act “of aggression that violate Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” He demanded the U.S. ambassador to Rusia be recalled and members of the Putin government have their assets frozen and visas revoked. Cotton said the United States should supply military assistance to Ukraine immediately.

“Vladimir Putin is seizing a neighboring territory — again — so President Obama must lead a meaningful, unified response,” said the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee. He called for immediate sanctions against Russia.

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas said last week Russia should be booted out of the Group of Eight, the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Security Council.

“As the President and his national security team are apparently the last to learn, Putin has scant regard for international norms when they run counter to his goal of re-establishing Soviet-style regional hegemony over unfortunate states like Georgia and Ukraine who have the temerity to want a more free, prosperous future for their people,” the Texas Republican said. “And Putin is under no illusions that the President’s vague threats mean any more than his infamous ‘red line’ in the Syrian desert.”

“The United States should stand with Ukraine,” he said.

VIDEO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LNC8Z7_jzpE

Republicans are not alone. Democrats are also calling for action against Russia.

Rep. Eliot L. Engel, the senior Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, posted a statement on his web page Saturday. Engel said “the international community should support Ukraine’s interim government in its efforts to restore order and return Ukraine to political and economic health. The United States and our allies must be ready to help, which is why I support a robust international economic assistance package and the Administration’s proposal to provide U.S. loan guarantees and other assistance to Ukraine. Today, Ukraine faces formidable challenges, but its people should know that the United States stands with them.”

Michigan Democrat Senator Carl Levin, who heads up the Armed Services Committee, proposed placing “a significant number of international observers on the ground in Ukraine. He said the presence of observers “could reduce the risk that Russia would make a false claim of provocative acts by Ukraine as an excuse for further violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, and thereby help avoid a conflict that nobody should want.”

Russia says it has moved into the semi-autonomous Crimea peninsula to safeguard Russian-speaking Ukrainians from a nationalist coup government in Kyiv.

Soon after taking power, the Verkhovan Rada, the Ukrainian parliament, abolished a law enacted in 2012 allowing regions of the country to officially use languages in addition to Ukrainian if they were spoken by over 10 percent of the population. Nearly half of the country’s regions, primarily those in the eastern part of the country, have adopted Russian as a second language.

Prior to the Euromaidan coup, Putin adviser Dmitry Peskov said Russia was concerned about growing Russophobia in the country.

Chutzpah (/ˈhʊtspə/ or /ˈxʊtspə/[1][2]) is the quality of audacity, for good or for bad. The Yiddish word derives from the Hebrew word ḥutspâ (חֻצְפָּה), meaning "insolence" or "audacity". The modern English usage of the word has taken on a broader meaning, having been popularized through vernacular use in film, literature, and television. The word is sometimes interpreted—particularly in business parlance—as meaning the amount of courage, mettle or ardor that an individual has. However in more traditional usage, chutzpah is invariably negative in context

Ukraine mobilizes troops after Russia's 'declaration of war'

By Marie-Louise Gumuchian, Ben Wedeman and Ian Lee, CNN

Sun March 2, 2014

QUOTE:

"A day after being named the head of Ukraine's navy, Rear Adm. Denis Berezovsky on Sunday declared his loyalty to the pro-Russian, autonomous Crimea government and disavowed Ukraine's new leaders.

Berezovsky, who was appointed Saturday by interim Ukrainian President Oleksandr Turchynov, said from Sevastopol on the Black Sea that he will not submit to any orders from Kiev.

He was quickly suspended and replaced by another rear admiral, the Defense Ministry in Kiev said in a written statement."

Here is some history from 07/13/1997:

Ukraine and NATO sign partnership charter

by Roman Woronowycz
Kyiv Press Bureau

KYIV - Ukraine and NATO entered into a historic special relationship on July 9 when President Leonid Kuchma and the leaders of the 16 NATO countries signed the "Charter on a Distinctive Partnership between the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Ukraine."

======

The signing occurred at the summit in Madrid, where the prime ministers and presidents of the NATO countries gathered on July 8-9 for their annual consultations. It followed by a day the equally historic invitation to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic to become full NATO members.

=====

But the four-page document does not give Ukraine military treaty status with NATO, which Ukraine had originally pushed for. It does, however, carry the status of a politically legal document much like the Helsinki Accords, signed by 35 countries in August 1975 to monitor human rights enforcement. "The charter makes the 16 subjects that signed it responsible for its enforcement," explained Mr. Buteiko. He also said that document will not need ratification by any Parliament.

=====

The charter also mentions the Budapest Accord of 1994, in which NATO members, the United States, the United Kingdom and France, along with Russia, gave Ukraine security assurances against nuclear attack. However, the charter does not offer such assurances from NATO itself.

Furthermore, the charter assures Ukraine that NATO will not position nuclear weapons on the territories of its new members. In addition, there are various enumerations of specific means and areas of consultation and cooperation, including a provision that Ukraine will have a military liaison mission as part of the Ukrainian mission in Brussels, where NATO has its headquarters.

=====

But in Ukraine on July 8, scores of Communists signed a petition criticizing the Ukraine-NATO charter. National Deputy Yevhen Marmazov, who chairs the "Ukraine Outside NATO" group in the Verkhovna Rada said they were protesting the signing of the agreement and "expressing their disagreement and indignation with the fact that the decision has been made without previous consultations with the Parliament. At the July 8 daily session of the Verkhovna Rada, Communist deputies proposed that discussion take place that day on the value and need for the charter, which was voted down by legislators.

Before the vote, Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko read a statement that said, "One of the most important provisions of the Declaration of Ukraine's State Sovereignty, proclaiming her non-alignment, neutrality and nuclear-free status, is canceled by a stroke of the pen." It continues, "Obviously, under this pretext, NATO has reserved for itself the right to meddle in Ukraine's internal affairs."

Russian Threat Re-Energizes Sweden's Push To Join NATO, Boost Spending
Mar. 16, 2014 - 03:45AM   |
By GERARD O’DWYER   |

HELSINKI — Sweden’s government is examining a proposal to boost military spending to defend its own territories and the strategic Baltic Sea area in the face of renewed Russian aggression in Ukraine. There is also a movement among high government officials to re-examine the long-running issue of joining NATO.

The Swedish Cabinet will discuss, in coming weeks, a cross-party coalition proposal to significantly increase capital spending on the Navy’s submarine fleet.

In a direct response to Russia’s military actions in the Crimean Peninsula, Jan Björklund, the Liberal Peoples’ Party leader and Sweden’s deputy prime minister, is pushing for a “comprehensive strategic military re-think on capability.” Björklund also wants Sweden to “set the wheels in motion” to join NATO.

“What the crisis in the Ukraine shows is that we need to return to our original defense doctrine of having the capability to defend our borders,” Björklund said at a March 12 news conference. “The crisis highlights our vulnerability in the Baltic Sea. We need to strengthen our presence and capability here. NATO membership is the best long-term option.

“How many people thought that Russia would go into the Crimea? The same argument could hold true for the Baltic states. The crisis in the Ukraine should be met with action by Western powers to offer it fast-track membership to the European Union,” Björklund said.

Sweden’s defense capability has been seriously weakened by more than 10 years of low spending by governments on defense, Björklund said. The armed forces’ budget for 2014 amounts to $6.2 billion, equivalent to 1.05 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and down from 1.5 percent of GDP in 2006.

Russia’s expansionist actions in Ukraine pose a real threat for Sweden, and one that could be repeated in the Baltic states, said Peter Hultqvist, chairman of the Parliamentary Defense Committee (PDC).

“We need to build a stronger and better resourced defense. Having a robust air and naval presence in the Baltic Sea and a strengthened military base on Götland Island is fundamental to defending future threats,” Hultqvist said in an interview.

The Swedish Cabinet will examine in coming weeks a proposal by Foreign Minister Carl Bildt to expand the Navy’s submarine modernization program to cover the acquisition of five rather than two next-generation subs at an additional cost of $1.6 billion.

“We need to strengthen our military presence on Götland and our overall capability in the Baltic Sea. Two new subs is not enough. The ambition should be to have the best fighter and submarine capability for our size of any European nation,” Bildt said in a statement. “This is vital if Sweden is to create a credible defense.”

The Riksdag in June 2010 approved plans to buy two new submarines. The first of these were to have been delivered in 2018. However, the project has been delayed by several years, with the prospect that Saab, and not the Malmö-based, German-owned ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (formerly Kockums), will get the contract.

Sweden’s armed forces maintained a strong air and naval presence on Götland, which lies 90 kilometers from the country’s southeastern coast and 130 kilometers from NATO-aligned Latvia, up to the end of the Cold War era.

Serial annual cuts in the military’s budget have reduced the island’s military value. However, the armed forces, in response to the crisis in the Ukraine, sent a squadron of Gripen aircraft to Götland on March 4.

Russia’s flexing of its military muscles in Ukraine poses a very real long-term threat to Sweden, along with other Nordic and Baltic states, said Staffan Danielsson, the Center Party’s representative on the PDC.

“Russia’s strengthening military capability is nothing new. We are seeing it in the High North, and in its Baltic military in Kaliningrad, which is just 248 kilometers from Götland,” Danielsson said in an interview. “The significance of Götland to Russia was evident in last year’s staged mock attack against Sweden.”

That “simulated” nighttime attack on mainland Sweden’s defense, industrial and government facilities took place March 29. The exercise was led by two Tu-22M3 Backfire heavy bombers escorted by four Su-27 Flanker fighters.

Götland’s strategic value for Russia is further heightened by the location of the $11 billion Nord Stream-operated Baltic Sea gas pipeline, which runs near the island’s eastern coastline. The pipeline transports 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to markets in Western Europe.

“Cutbacks meant that Sweden offered no response to this act, which took place less than 32 kilometers from Götland and Swedish airspace,” Danielsson said. “Instead of Gripens, it was left to two Danish F-16s from NATO’s Quick Action Alert station in Lithuania to scramble and shadow the war-games aircraft back to Russia.”

The “incident” came two months after an Armed Forces Command report that conceded Sweden lacked the capacity to defend the country for longer than one week without external help.

“In the Cold War era our air-defense comprised 20 squadrons and 400 aircraft in four strategic air bases. We now have about a quarter of the aircraft we had, and this could fall to between 80 and 100 aircraft,” Hultqvist said.

The Center Party and the LPP are confident that their coalition partner, the Moderates, will back plans to increase military spending, Danielsson said. The Moderates hold key ministerial portfolios, including the prime minister’s chair, defense, foreign affairs and finance.

Finance Minister Anders Borg has promised the government will revisit defense spending.

“It is no longer acceptable that Sweden spends less money, as a ratio to GDP, than any other Nordic country,” Borg said in a statement.

Borg’s turnaround to a pro-spending position was echoed by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt.

“We have a powerful and unpredictable neighbor which is not behaving according to international structures developed after the Cold War. This unpredictability creates uncertainty in our neighborhood, and this must be a starting point for revising defense spending needs,” Reinfeldt told the Riksdag on March 11.

So is there any confirmation from news sources who have actual foreign correspondents?  So far it's been two bit "news" sources who rely purely on BS, speculation and sensationalism.  If there was any truth to this, I think Western media would be on it.  Especially considering Obama looks like a castrated lame duck at this point.  They would be ALL OVER any story about NATO troops deployed, because they would try to spin it to make it seem like he has a backbone.

Ukraine crisis is a ''game-changer'' for Allies NATO Secretary General tells Brussels Forum

The crisis in Ukraine is a geo-political “game-changer” for NATO Allies who must strengthen their economic and military ties in wake of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a speech delivered at the ‘Brussels Forum’ on Friday (21 March 2014). “The transatlantic bond and NATO matter more for Europe than ever before,” he said.

The Secretary General set out three priorities which he called on Allies to address in wake of the crisis; to reaffirm Allied commitment to collective defence, strengthen support to Ukraine and the wider region, “and to make clear that we can no longer do business as usual with Russia.”  Mr. Fogh Rasmussen said the September NATO Summit in Wales will be a key one for Allies to ensure they have the full range of capabilities to deter and defend against any threat.

The ‘Brussels Forum’ is organized by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. Mr Fogh Rasmussen was taking part in a panel with his predecessors as Secretary General, Lord Robertson and Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

Russian Federation is in violation of its obligations under the INF Treaty

Statement by the Secretary General on the INF Treaty

The United States has briefed the North Atlantic Council on its determination that the Russian Federation is in violation of its obligations under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty not to possess, produce, or flight-test a ground-launched cruise missile with a range capability of 500 to 5,500 kilometers, or to possess or produce launchers of such missiles.

The INF Treaty, which entered into force in 1988, was concluded to reduce threats to security and stability in Europe, in particular the threat of short-warning attack on targets of strategic importance.

The Treaty has a special place in history, as it required the verifiable elimination of an entire class of missiles possessed by the United States and the Soviet Union. It remains a key element of Euro-Atlantic security -- one that benefits our mutual security and must be preserved.

Russia should work constructively to resolve this critical Treaty issue and preserve the viability of the INF Treaty by returning to full compliance in a verifiable manner.  Continuing to uphold the Treaty strengthens the security of all, including Russia.
