Ralph Nader, Cynthia Mckinney, Lou Dobbs have all either declared or are getting ready to declare their run for president. They will only serve to split the base and make sure all of them and Ron will not make a significant impact.
Imagine for a moment. Imagine that all 3 (plus Kucinich who I think has already come out as a Paul supporter) get behind Paul for the promise of high level jobs in a Paul administration. Imagine how powerful that coalition would be. I don’t know what intentions Paul has for a running mate but whatever choice he makes, these four would not only benefit Paul’s campaign immensely but also the issues they really care about, i.e. a) civil liberties b) the war c) corruption and the influence of the military industrial complex. (except Dobbs who shares Paul’s anti NAU and immigration stances but not so much a) and b).
After Super Tuesday, we should start an email/letter writing campaign to these three emphasizing:
1. If they truly want to make an impact they have to get behind Paul
2. Paul is the natural choice for leader because of a) his credentials b) his record and most importantly c) the momentum of the Ron Paul revolution, none of the others can claim that.
3. As politely as possible, point out that if they continue independent runs, they will not only fail dismally but they will sabotage the other candidates and more importantly sabotage the possibility of the issues they care about being resolved. In other words, to run independently is a betrayal of the issues they are running for and the constituencies that they represent.
Let’s get writing:
