Director-Producer Tony Scott Jumped To Death From San Pedro Bridge In Suicide

A source close to the Scott family just confirmed to Deadline that famed movie director and TV producer Tony Scott “has passed away. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.” Hollywood is shocked by this tragic news that he committed suicide because British-born Scott was well-liked personally and professionally and had a lauded and thriving career. “He was the loveliest guy. Genuinely,” a family friend tells Deadline. “He was one of the good ones.” Scott was best known for classic action films like Top Gun, Days Of Thunder, Beverly Hills Cop II,  True Romance, and Crimson Tide, and the most recent Unstoppable. He also is a credited producer on this summer’s Fox blockbuster Prometheus directed by his brother Ridley Scott.

According to insiders who’d just spoken to Tony Scott last week, he was busy developing a Top Gun sequel re-teaming with Tom Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer despite a 25-plus-year gap between movies. Paramount confirmed to Deadline tonight that Scott was still attached to direct, and just on Friday Cruise was touring the naval Air Station nearby Fallon, Nevada, as part of prep work. But before that project Scott planned to direct as his next movie the drug-centric action thriller Narco Sub based on a spec script by David Guggenheim for Twentieth Century Fox. Scott also was trying to make Hells Angels, The Movie happen.

Both Scott brothers through their busy LA-based Scott Free Productions also have the A&E miniseries Coma scheduled to premiere on September 3rd, as well as Season 4 of CBS’ The Good Wife.

The LAPD tells Deadline it received a 911 call at 12:35 PM today about a man who jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge in Los Angeles County spanning San Pedro and Terminal Island. The body of the man was recovered from the water at approximately  3 PM by the Los Angeles Port Police. The Coroner’s Office identified the man as Anthony Davis Scott, 68, who resides in Beverly Hills, according to Watch Commander Lt Timothy Nordquist of LAPD Harbour Area division talking to Deadline. Lt. Nordquist also said that Scott “seemed to be alone”. The Coroner’s Office told Deadline Scott’s death is being investigated as a suicide with no indication it was anything but a suicide.

Unconfirmed news reports say officials found a note listing contact information inside his black Toyota Prius parked on an eastbound lane of the cable-suspension bridge, and a suicide note was at his Los Angeles office. News of Scott’s jump to his death was first reported by the local Daily Breeze newspaper. It wrote Scott climbed a fence on the south side of the bridge’s apex and leaped “without hesitation” around 12:30 PM. Earlier today Deadline was alerted that “an older gentlemen who people recognized from either movies and/or TV tried to jump off a pier” and that the attempt was not successful.

Don't know if this is true, however, one poster claim that Scott had mentioned last week that he was going to divulge Romney's tax returns.

This might be the 'new normal' when we see so many celebs and hollywood types dropping dead at any and all ages and all being dismissed as just suicide.. We have to look at this phenomenon from the perspective of probable mind-control of the whole culture to mind control targeted at specific individuals, including ritual murder, because in such a controlled paradigm the prime suspect is the artificial construct of mass enslavement and hijacked culture.

When I read this headline, this series of weird coincidences come to mind:

Tony Scott Didn't Have Brain Cancer, Family Tells Coroner

August 20, 2012 |  6:25 pm

The Los Angeles County coroner's office said it has not determined whether director Tony Scott had any health problems before he jumped off a San Pedro bridge Sunday and said family members have denied media reports that he was suffering from inoperable brain cancer.

The "Top Gun" director jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge on Sunday in what is being investigated as a suicide. As in many cases, the coroner said it would not have a final cause of death until toxicology and other tests are back in several weeks.

The autopsy will look at any major health issues Scott had.

But Craig Harvey, a chief for the coroner's office, said Scott's family denied media reports about brain cancer.

"The family told us it is incorrect that he has inoperable brain cancer," Harvey said.

Scott, 68, had just completed a new movie, and there had been no public reports of health problems.

Scott appeared nervous before leaping off the bridge Sunday afternoon, a witness said.

"He was on the roadway close to the fence looking around. He was looking around and fumbling with something at his feet. He looked nervous," witness David Silva said in an interview with The Times. "I thought it was some extreme-sports guy."

Silva said he was a passenger in a car on the north side of the bridge and Scott was on the south side.

Silva said Scott was wearing sporty orange-and-gray attire with shorts.

Silva said Scott "paused a couple of seconds and then began to climb the fence. He put his foot on the top of the fence and paused again. And then he threw himself off. I immediately thought, that guy is dead."

At first, Silva and other motorists thought it was an extreme-sports stunt. Then they realized the jumper didn't have a parachute or safety cord.

Silva said he called 911 immediately.

The coroner's office said all evidence suggests that Scott took his own life.

Scott left a suicide note at his office, law enforcement sources said, but police have not revealed what it said. Harvey said Scott also left several "instructional" notes to family and friends.

Simon Halls, a spokesman for Scott's family, said the family asked "that their privacy be respected at this time."

Los Angeles police first learned of the incident after 12:30 p.m. from a 911 caller who said a man had leaped off the suspension bridge that connects San Pedro and Terminal Island. It's a 185-foot fall from the bridge roadway to the waters of the Los Angeles Harbor.

Authorities have been talking to those on the bridge at the time of the incident.

A source said officials looked inside the car and determined that it belonged to the famed action-movie director and producer. A note in the car had contact information for his wife. The suicide note was later found in his office, according to law enforcement sources.

His body was pulled out of the water several hours later by divers from the Los Angeles Port Police.

The coroner's office identified Scott on Sunday evening.

Scott was a respected director and producer whose films included  "Man on Fire," "Enemy of the State" and "Beverly Hills Cop II."

The last film he directed was "Unstoppable," a 2010 thriller about a runaway freight train.

His career in television included executive producing the series "The Good Wife" and "Numb3rs," both on CBS.

The British director, who lived in Beverly Hills, was best known for the 1986 hit "Top Gun," starring Tom Cruise as a Navy aviator. The movie grossed $21.6 million in its first 11 days of release.

Scott was one of three sons born to working-class parents in northern England.

He established his career as a commercial director and continued to make television spots late into his career. Before becoming a filmmaker, Scott was a painter.

Known for a kinetic visual style that aimed to take audiences into his high-octane action scenes, Scott also produced a number of blockbuster movies, most recently "Prometheus," directed by his brother Ridley Scott, and "The A-Team."

At the time of his death, he had recently completed filming "Out of the Furnace," a drama he was producing about an ex-con, starring Christian Bale. The movie is set to come out next year.

Scott was also preparing to produce a science fiction drama called "Ion" and had served as executive producer on "Stoker," set to come out in March.

His debut feature, 1983's vampire movie "The Hunger," starred Catherine Deneuve and established Scott's cinematic style. He followed that movie with "Top Gun," which not only boosted the career of Tom Cruise but also ushered in a series of Scott's action movies, which included "Days of Thunder," also starring Cruise, and "Crimson Tide," starring Denzel Washington.

Though his movies were consistent box-office hits, Scott rarely attracted critical praise and was never nominated for an Academy Award.

He was more successful with reviewers in television, however, for his work on "The Good Wife."

Scott was married three times and had twin sons with his third wife, actress and model Donna Wilson.

Tony Scott Brain Cancer Report Appears in Doubt

http://news.yahoo.com/tony-scott-brain-cancer-report-appears-doubt-004048690--abc-news-topstories.html

The family of director Tony Scott, who died Sunday after jumping off a Los Angeles bridge, was not aware Scott had cancer, Los Angeles County Coroner Ed Winter told ABC News station KABC in Los Angeles.
ABC News was unable to reach Scott's family to confirm the coroner's statement.

ABC News had reported the director of films such as "Top Gun," "Days of Thunder" and "Crimson Tide" had inoperable brain cancer, citing a source close to Scott.

Police said they received a 911 call at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday that an individual had jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

The body was recovered around 3 p.m., when it was identified by authorities as Scott, according to Lt. Joseph Bale of the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

Star Whackers?

Randy Quaid’s Hot New Single, ‘Star Whackers,’ Explains Everything
By Amos Barshad

As previously established, Randy Quaid and his wife Evi think an evil cabal of assassins known as "star whackers" are out to, you know, whack them. This is, understandably, a tough assertion for the masses to accept. It doesn't mean it's definitely not true, of course — more often than we'd care to acknowledge, claims that at first sound like wild-eyed conspiracy theories do end up containing at least a kernel of truth.

The problem is, Randy and Evi aren't necessarily the best ambassadors for the "star whackers" theory: Their biggest platform to defend the allegations, a lengthy profile in Vanity Fair, ended up just making them sound even crazier than before. So what do you do when the whole world is turning a blind eye to truth? Randy Quaid knows: You co-opt that sadly ignorant world's ingrained communication channels.

Herewith, Randy with his band the Fugitives, rocking the hell out of his new radio jam, "Star Whackers." You get it now, yes?

Randy Quaid and wife Evi fear 'star whackers' may kill Lindsay Lohan, Mel Gibson, Dennis Quaid next
BY CRISTINA EVERETT
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Monday, November 01, 2010

"I genuinely feel these people are trying to kill us," Evi told "Good Morning America" Monday. "We are refugees . we are Hollywood refugees."

Randy, 60, denied that he and his wife were on drugs or are mentally unstable.

"To have my integrity and my reputation so denigrated so mercilessly - why?" the Oscar-nominated actor said. "Why would somebody want to do this to me?"
...
As for their current problems, the pair says a deadly group, who they refer to as "Star Whackers," is attempting to kill them for their money.

"They follow us, they tail us," Randy said. "They tag our cell phone, they hack our computer."

He added, "We're not faking it. We're confronting it."

Evi, 47, said their alleged assassins could be "an estate planner who would make a living trust and a county that could cash Randy's royalty stream forever."

"They are business men," she continued. "It's the mafia, it's organized crime."

The couple, married since 1989, also claimed that other celebrities may be in danger, including Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears and Mel Gibson.

"I think he was drugged. I think he was slipped a Mickey," Evi said of Gibson.

Even more bizarre, the two attribute the deaths of celebrities such as Heath Ledger (who died from a drug overdose) and David Carradine (who died from accidental asphyxiation) as "flat out fraud."

"It's possible for people to gain control of every facet of your life," he said, adding that he's messed up his relationship with his younger brother, actor Dennis Quaid, who has asked Randy to seek therapy.

LOS ANGELES — Randy Quaid says he would like to return to the United States one day, but he and his wife, Evi, still fear they are being persecuted by California prosecutors and tabloid media.

Although U.S. officials recently refused to seek extradition of the actor and his wife from Canada to face felony vandalism charges in Santa Barbara, Calif., authorities in the coastal town say they'll still have the couple arrested if they return to the states.

The Quaids, who have missed several court appearances in the case, claim they are the victims of corrupt forces and are demanding an investigation.

"I feel like we've been driven out of the country and that the door's been slammed behind us," Quaid, a Houston native, told The Associated Press in a phone interview from British Columbia on Friday. "And for what, these phony little trespassing, vandalism charges? Santa Barbara can sleep better tonight knowing the Quaids are out of their hair."

The Quaids’ attorney later elaborated in a prepared statement from the couple to the press that was chilling in its straightforwardness: “Yes, we are seeking asylum from Hollywood star whackers.”

I find this interesting in that a bond usually needs 10 percent down and assets behind it and so they put up 100,000 for the bond and are willing to forfeit 1 million not to answer charges.:

Anyone with a mind who watched "Coma" would have noticed it had an anti for-profit health care subtext.  It was critical of current health care for many reason we criticize it here.  Also note with such a great cast it was programmed as an end of summer event where it would not get that many viewers.  It's not hard to believe somebody didn't particularly like the message in the film.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — An autopsy report on the death of "Top Gun" director Tony Scott lists his death as a suicide and says the cause was multiple blunt force injuries suffered from jumping off a bridge into Los Angeles Harbor.

The report released Monday by the Los Angeles County coroner says Scott also drowned, and had in his system therapeutic levels of the anti-depressant Remeron and the sleep aid Lunesta.

No surprises appeared in the autopsy results on Scott, who leapt from the Vincent Thomas Bridge on August 19 and whose death was presumed a probable suicide from the outset.

The coroner's office said previously that Scott left notes behind in his car including messages to friends and loved ones, but none gave a reason why he would kill himself.

Brian Gerber, Film Producer Behind Digital Hollywood Summit, Commits Suicide off Angeles Crest Highway
By Simone WilsonWed., Aug. 29 2012 at 12:35 PM

...Brian Gerber -- took his life this week by driving his (Prius) car off the Angeles Crest Highway

According to Battalion Chief Ron Larriva of the L.A. County Fire Department, the LAPD and Sheriff's Department began searching Angeles Crest Highway for Gerber early this morning, after being informed by his family that he was distraught and thinking of running his car off a cliff in the area.

Around 7:30 a.m., Larriva says investigators found "a suicide note up on the rock" at mile marker 32, as well as a car that had plummeted 500 to 600 feet down the embankment into Angeles National Forest. "It must have happened late last night or early this morning," Larriva says.

Inside the vehicle was a fatally injured 41-year-old Los Angeles resident, says Sheriff's Lieutenant Angela Shepherd, although she's "not releasing any names."

Gerber was a founder and organizer for Digital Hollywood's big biannual content summit, which claims to "bring the world of content creators into the fold of digital production, marketing and technology." The next one was scheduled for mid-October at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey.

His biggest production credits include The 11th Hour, Leonardo DiCaprio's global-warming documentary, and The Dungeon Masters.

The missing man has two young children with actress Arabella Field, who played small parts in National Treasure and Dante's Peak. Her 2010 TV show, Sex and the Austen Girl, was produced by Gerber.

TheWrap reports that, according to inside sources, the wrecked vehicle was Gerber's silver Prius:

The Toyota Prius ( /ˈpriːəs/; plural: Prii[1] /ˈpriːaɪ/) is a full hybrid electric mid-size hatchback, formerly a compact sedan developed and manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB) rate the Prius as among the cleanest vehicles sold in the United States based on smog-forming emissions
