Let's Commit Some Lemonade and Raw Milk "Crimes"
Posted by Karen De Coster on August 16, 2012 07:02 PM
This Saturday, August 18th, is Lemonade and Raw Milk Freedom Day in Washington D.C. From the LemonadeFreedom.com website:

This issue is about much more than just lemonade or raw milk. This issue is about the right to self ownership. You own your body. You have the right to do what you want to do with your body, just as long as you are not harming someone else or someone’s  property. Lemonade Freedom Day is about freedom.

That's the high-level, simplistic view that describes a place - America - where we no longer have the freedom to make, buy, or consume the food that we choose to put into our bodies in order to sustain our life and good health.

Remember, government food anti-freedom is about (1) seizing power, which benefits federal and local governments and provides justification for their growth, (2) eliminating the competition for the rent-seeking corporate state, meaning the big business-big government alliance, (3) displaying the omnipotent power of the enforcement state, including militarized police and federal/state agencies, and (4) affirming rejection of any individual’s right to self-ownership, and thus making the case that we are subjects to be ruled down to the level of our behaviors and personal lifestyle choices. There is no tyranny of good intentions here. Big Food-Big Agra is a state-sponsored industry cartel.

Here is the business wire with the location and time.

The lemonade stands and raw milk tasting booths will be set up on the mall at 12:00 noon on the lawn of the Capitol reflecting pool. The approximate location is around 3rd Street Southwest between Maryland and Jefferson in Washington DC.

According to a Weston A. Price Foundation mailing, the event will be streamed live here.

Children defy police in Washington, purchase lemonade at Capitol

In response to a recent wave of lemonade stand shut downs and harassment of children over such petty regulations as are used to shut them down, several activist gathered at the west lawn of the capitol in Washington, DC to sell lemonade and were arrested. While the officers were technically on solid "legal" ground in shutting down the stand, they behaved inappropriately by any standard numerous times, using intimidation tactics on protestors and observers, and harassing members of the professional media. The willingness with which children and tourists participated by purchasing lemonade in disobedience of the police instructions is an indicator of how little respect the general public has for government in general, and specifically police when enforcing unjust laws. Gives me hope for America. For those who are complaining about the public property not being used for its intended purpose, part of the point of this that the government should not be using public property for the glorification of government when it could be better used to serve public interests. Excessive vending at the capitol (or without a permit in any public space) would surely be preferable to 22.5% unemployment. Free the economy!

I hope they had a good turn out and support from many with good sales on the Mall.

They should have this every weekend and in every other city too.
