I was watching "Terminator 3" Salvation today and................

I was watching the scene where John Conner & the little African girl were captured by the machines and being taken to the machine city(I forget what it was called) .Anyway the plot as it stands is that the machines have taken over after becoming self aware and are killing all the humans - they are ran by skynet NOT humans. So they've been caught and been taken to the machine city to be killed, they are dumped into cattle pens and are being forced along a type of walkway, one man try's to escape and is mini-machined gunned by a terminator. In this shot the camera pans out and what do we find......humans hiding in the shadows, they seem to be in control and watching from above, they move around peering at the cattle yards.I believe these people represent the Elite. What are your thoughts?

Wow great catch.

I was watching the original Terminator the other day and it pretty much lays out word for word the exact endgame plan of the elite.

Terminator movies are awesome Grin

Not sure we can read "something" into every movie ever released though.
Must go rewatch that scene Smiley

I wonder if they meant to have the people in that shot, or it was a mistake...

I'm almost willing to bet that by the end of the trilogy, it will be revealed that humans were behind the machines the whole time.  It would seem appropriate considering that's what's going on in real life.

At the very least there were no doubt human collaborators  who helped the machines in exchange for their lives.

Terminator 3 was Rise of the Machines

Terminator 4 was Salvation

911 and FOX; Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles http://forum.prisonplanet.com/index.php?topic=87988.0

They had some preliminary programming especially in season one where they had a drum of Kerosene in the house under the stairs (With the clear print KEROSENE on it).

They let you see it clearly.

Later they had to destroy one of the terminated robots and they say something like " We only can use THERMATE because that's the only thing which burns hot enough to destroy the metal Robot Shocked

Later in the series not much of this "Putting it in your face" 911 stuff, guess the spooks saw it and forbid the writer to play with it any longer.

FINALY: The Sarah Conner Chronicles THERMATE SCENE

"So. Skynet. Robots. From the future? And you're a?..." - Charlie Dixon
"Yes. I'm a..." - Cameron
"You need a..." - Sarah Connor
"A minute?" - Charlie Dixon
"I was gonna say a drink". - Sarah Connor
"Oh yeah, that too..." - Charlie Dixon
"Don't you have an endoskeleton you need to disappear or something?" - Sarah Connor
"Yes. I've already prepared the thermite". - Cameron
"Thermite?" - Charlie Dixon
"It's an incendiary chemical. It burns at twenty-five-hundred degrees Celsius; hot enough to liquefy this endoskeleton". - Cameron
"I... I know what thermite is. I'm just a... still working my way around... endoskeleton". - Charlie Dixon

"Every component must be destroyed beyond repair or recovery. Even a single unaccounted-for piece of the endoskeleton can alter the course of technological evolution and hasten the arrival of Judgment Day". - Cameron
"You know... little girl. You freak me the hell out. On the outside, you're just as pretty as a picture. But, on the inside you're a...". - Charlie Dixon
"Hyperalloy Combat Chassis". - Cameron
"Is that a complicated way of saying robot?" - Charlie Dixon
"Cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton". - Cameron
"Okay. Scary robot. And here you are; carving up this guy into chum". - Charlie Dixon
"He's not a guy. He's a scary robot". - Cameron
"Okay, he's a scary robot. But you? You're a very scary robot". - Charlie Dixon
"You should go. It's not safe for you here". - Cameron

couldn't possibly be other machines in the guise of humans.  Or hybrids like the movie has with that one dude.  Couldn't possibly be.....

Tiny detail, it was Kyle Reese with the girl, not John Connor.

The original Harlan Ellison short story is a lot more to the point. The (much maligned by kids today) original Outer Limits series had an episode called "Soldier" .

Obviously, the special effects were more rudimentary in that low budget show than even the 80s Terminator movies.

But in my opinion, the Ellison work is much more potent, check it out:

From, Soldier (The Outer Limits) 19 September 1964. (c) MGM Home Entertainment

"Trained from birth by the State, he has never known love, or closeness, or warmth. He is geared for only one purpose: to kill the Enemy. And the Enemy waits for him…"

Another feature of that episode was how language was run together, more simplified, short abbreviations that to an old guy "texting" always reminds me of.
