Judge approves use of 'truth serum' on accused Aurora shooter James Holmes

Legal experts question use of 'narcoanalytic interview' to settle question of Holmes's legal insanity at time of theater shooting

Ed Pilkington in New York

The Guardian, Tuesday 12 March 2013 16.13 EDT

Legal and medical experts are questioning the decision of a judge in Colorado to allow James Holmes, the suspected gunman in the Aurora cinema shooting, to be tested with a "truth serum" should he plead not guilty by reason of insanity.

Judge William Sylvester ruled that in the event of Holmes pleading insanity his prosecutors would be permitted to interrogate him while he is under the influence of a medical drug designed to loosen him up and get him to talk. The idea would be that such a "narcoanalytic interview" would be used to confirm whether or not he had been legally insane when he embarked on his shooting spree on 20 July last year.

The precise identity of the drug that would be used has not been released, other than a statement that it would be "medically appropriate", but it would most likely be a short-acting barbiturate such as sodium amytal

bump - talking about how Holmes is being given "truth serum" for trial....

see: http://www.herbogeminis.com/IMG/pdf/acid_dreams.pdf

http://www.infowars.com/the-cia-james-holmes-mkultra-and-truth-serum-torture/
The CIA, James Holmes, MKULTRA, and truth-serum torture
Jon Rappoport
 Infowars.com
 March 18, 2013

In 2002, author Martin Lee wrote an article for Common Dreams: “Truth Serum and Torture.”

It could have been written yesterday, because now a Colorado judge has stated that, if James Holmes pleads not guilty by reason of insanity to the Aurora murders, state psychiatrists can subject him to drugs that will “help him remember his state of mind” at the time of the shootings. The drugging will reveal whether he really was insane that night last summer at the Aurora theater.

Well, when it comes to so-called truth drugs like sodium pentothal, sodium amatyl, scopolamine, mescaline, LSD, and hypnotic benzodiazepines, where are the pros with real experience?

At run-of-the-mill psychiatric wards? No. Those hacks in the Colorado state hospital system have rarely if ever tried out the drugs for the purpose of getting at the truth.

But the CIA has up-to-date interrogators around, and thousands of pages of MKULTRA (mind control) literature, that constitute the best experience in this dark art.

Therefore, it’s highly probable the CIA or their independent contractors will be sitting in on James Holmes’ drug-induced sessions, supervising them, giving advice. It’s the Ghostbusters motto: “Who ya gonna call?”

...
We shouldn’t discount the possibility that James Holmes, once he enters an insanity plea, and is sent away to a secure hospital for psychiatric eval, will be given drugs that produce the kind of mad panic that will convince him to say, in court, exactly what his handlers want him to say.
...
These drugs are certainly being used in national security cases. Therefore, as Cannistraro predicts, they are now entering the mainstream as the standard. The astonishing statement from the court judge in the James Holmes case, ordering his truth-drug interrogation, couldn’t be a clearer signal:

full-speed ahead in chemically inducing a suspect to give up his right not to incriminate himself;
forget the fact that such truth-drug interrogations are notoriously unreliable;
forget the damage suspects can incur from the effects of the drugs;

and most of all, forget the fact that, although truth drugs don’t work reliably, they can be used to create such terror that the suspect will do or say anything to escape more dosing.

Many people have observed that James Holmes already looks like a man who has been heavily drugged, while in custody.
...
Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole ; He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. - Job 5

I think he was on alot more and this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sertraline

Sertraline hydrochloride (trade names Zoloft, Lustral) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. It was introduced to the market by Pfizer in 1991. Sertraline is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder in adult outpatients as well as obsessive–compulsive, panic, and social anxiety disorders in both adults and children. In 2011, it was the second-most prescribed antidepressant on the U.S. retail market, with 37,208,000 prescriptions
...
Suicide

The FDA requires all antidepressants, including sertraline, to carry a black box warning stating that antidepressants may increase the risk of suicide in persons younger than 25. This warning is based on statistical analyses conducted by two independent groups of FDA experts that found a 2-fold increase of suicidal ideation and behavior in children and adolescents, and a 1.5-fold increase of suicidal behavior in the 18–24 age group

http://depressionintrospection.wordpress.com/2007/07/06/the-zoloft-rageviolence-connection/

Apparently, Brynn Hartman, the wife of famous comedian Phil Hartman, killed herself and her husband while taking Zoloft. While close friends attribute the sudden behavior on the antidepressant, others attribute it to a combination of the medication with cocaine and alcohol in her system. (Zoloft does have a warning against alcohol use in conjunction with the drug.)

http://www.consumerinjurylawyers.com/zoloft/Zoloft-Lawsuit.html

In 1999, a Zoloft lawsuit gained media attention when a Zoloft user, Brynn Hartman killed her husband, comedian Phil Hartman, and then killed herself. The lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Hartman’s estate alleged that Mrs. Hartman’s Zoloft use caused her to engage in violent behavior and take her husband’s life.

The lawsuit alleged Pfizer did not adequately warn Mrs. Hartman of Zoloft’s side effects.

Pfizer settled the lawsuit with the estate for an undisclosed amount.

In 2004, a lawsuit was brought on behalf of injured California consumers against Pfizer under California’s Unfair Competition Laws. The Zoloft lawsuit alleged that Pfizer misled users by withholding evidence about Zoloft’s:

•lack of efficacy compared to sugar pills
•dependency and withdrawal risks
•increased risk of violent and suicidal behavior

Aurora shooting suspect James Holmes bought bullets from BulkAmmo.com
Unsealed search warrants show suspect in shooting that killed 12 used iPhone to take pictures of movie-theater door

Wednesday 22 May 2013
...

James Holmes received six shipments of ammunition from an online retailer, carried a platinum MasterCard and photographed the door to the movie theater where he allegedly killed 12 people and injured 70, according to court records released Wednesday.

The information comes from search warrants unsealed at the direction of the judge overseeing the case against Holmes, who could be executed if convicted of the 20 July 2012 shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

The warrants show that in the hours after the attack, investigators wanted to search Holmes' bank records and an iPod Touch. They found that Holmes had received ammunition from the website BulkAmmo.com at his apartment in Aurora. Authorities wanted to determine whether he had received other material at the nearby University of Colorado, Denver, where he had been a neuroscience graduate student, or at his parents' home near San Diego. Detectives also wrote that on 9 July, Holmes downloaded a US Postal Service form to track shipments. That was around the time Holmes shipped a notebook and burnt $20 bills to his former psychiatrist at the university. That package was not found until after the shooting. The notebook's contents have not yet been disclosed.

The documents released on Wednesday did not show what investigators found. They did say that Holmes carried an iPhone that contained pictures of the theater where the massacre occurred. Included in those pictures were images of the door jamb at the theater. Prosecutors have said Holmes entered the theater that night apparently unarmed, slipped out the external exit door then returned with his weapons and body armor.

Holmes is attempting to plead not guilty by reason of insanity. He is due to appear in court on Thursday, for a routine hearing.
...

Wednesday's release is an addition to a wider April disclosure of documents that were sealed in the days after the shooting. Media organizations successfully sued to unseal those search warrants and affidavits. But a handful of records were omitted from the April disclosure and were released instead on Wednesday.

Judge accepts insanity plea in Colo. shooting case
By DAN ELLIOTT
— Jun. 4 12:15 PM EDT

FILE - In this March 12, 2013 file photo, James Holmes, left, and defense attorney Tamara Brady appear in district court in Centennial, Colo. for his arraignment. Holmes, the suspect in the Colorado theater massacre, could enter his long-expected insanity plea at a hearing Tuesday June 4, 2013, though the case could also veer off on another tangent as his lawyers seek the strongest possible defense. (AP Photo/The Denver Post, RJ Sangosti, Pool, File)

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — A judge on Tuesday accepted James Holmes' plea of not guilty by reason of insanity, setting the stage for a lengthy mental evaluation of the Colorado theater shooting suspect.

The court clerk placed a written advisory of the ground rules of the plea before Holmes so he could examine it as Judge Carlos Samour Jr. read through all 18 points.

When Samour asked if he had any questions, Holmes replied no. Samour then accepted the plea.

"I find Mr. Holmes understands the effects and consequences of the not guilty by reason of insanity plea," the judge said. "He was looking at the advisement and appeared to be following along."
...
Prosecutors say Holmes spent months buying weapons, ammunition and materials for explosives and scouted the theater in advance. He donned police-style body armor, tossed a gas canister into the seats and opened fire, they say.

The insanity plea is widely seen as Holmes' best chance of avoiding execution, and possibly his only chance, given the weight of the evidence against him.
...
If jurors find Holmes not guilty by reason of insanity, he would be committed indefinitely to the state mental hospital. He could eventually be released if doctors find his sanity has been restored, but that is considered unlikely.

If jurors convict him, the next step is the penalty phase, during which both sides call witnesses to testify about factors that could affect why Holmes should or shouldn't be executed.

One year on from shooting in which 12 died and 70 were injured, mayor pays tribute to 'resilience' of Colorado city
Associated Press in Colorado
theguardian.com, Saturday 20 July 2013 14.48 EDT

...

On 20 July 2012, a gunman opened fire early into a packed midnight screening of the Batman film The Dark Knight Rises. The shooting lasted less than two minutes but left deep wounds that still ache in Colorado's third-largest city, which spreads out across the rolling plains on Denver's eastern side. Twelve people died, including a six-year-old girl, and 70 were hurt, some of them paralyzed. Countless others bear the invisible wounds of emotional trauma.

James Holmes, a once promising neuroscientist, is accused of carrying out the shooting. Police say he had a rifle with a high-capacity magazine, able to fire 100 bullets. He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity; his lawyers say he carried out the shootings "in the throes of a psychotic episode".

Parents, siblings and survivors attended a morning ceremony of prayer, song and remembrance outside Aurora's City Hall. Several hundred people, including police and fire personnel and members of Colorado's congressional delegation, bowed their heads as the names of the dead were read. A small bell tolled after each. The Hinkley High School choir sang Amazing Grace.

"One year ago, the peace of our community was shattered," said the Aurora mayor, Steve Hogan. "We are still seeking justice. It is important for us to remember that one senseless act does not, cannot and will not define us as a community. This is a story of resilience, not just of Aurora but of humankind.

The Colorado governor, John Hickenlooper, told the crowd that many people still struggle with unanswered questions. "I know I do," he said.
...
On Friday and into early Saturday, Fields and other volunteers read the names of the more than 2,500 people who have been killed in gun-related violence in the US since the Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting in December. The last volunteer to read names was Stephen Barton, who was wounded in the theater shooting. Immediately after Barton was finished, about 40 volunteers held a moment of silence at 12.38am, the time the shooting began one year earlier. The silence lasted for 82 seconds, to represent the 12 people killed and the 70 who were wounded.

Gun lobby campaign ousts Democrats in Colorado
National Rifle Association attacks 'anti-gun billionaires' and hails election results as warning to lawmakers considering gun reform

Associated Press in Denver
theguardian.com, Wednesday 11 September 2013 03.56 EDT

Two Democratic state lawmakers who backed tighter gun laws in the aftermath of mass shootings in Colorado and Connecticut have been voted out of office in a recall election promoted by both grassroots activists and an influential gun-rights lobbying group.

Colorado Senate president John Morse lost by just 343 votes on Tuesday in a swing district in the Republican stronghold of Colorado Springs while fellow state senator Angela Giron lost by a bigger margin in a largely blue-collar district that usually favours Democrats.

The National Rifle Association said the election sent a clear message to lawmakers that they should protect gun rights and be accountable to their constituents, not to "anti-gun billionaires" – a swipe at the New York mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who supported Giron and Morse.

Unfazed by Colorado recalls, California lawmakers press on with gun-control bills

SACRAMENTO -- A day after furious Coloradans recalled two state senators who voted for new gun laws, California lawmakers pressed ahead with their own agenda Wednesday aimed at giving the Golden State the strictest gun control in the country.

Colorado's recall elections and California's rush to pass gun bills in the final week of its legislative session quickly reignited the national debate over balancing public safety with constitutional rights.

The Colorado votes sent a Rocky Mountain chill down the spines of lawmakers in other battleground states, but those in bright blue California seemed unfazed.

"I don't see anybody switching teams here," said Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, chairman of the Assembly Public Safety Committee.

Assemblywoman Shannon Grove, R-Bakersfield, seemed resigned to the Democratic-controlled Legislature passing a slew of new gun laws, but held out hope that Gov. Jerry Brown will shoot many of them down with his veto pen. "I just pray to God that Jerry Brown is the savior of the Second Amendment in this state," she said.

Among the most controversial bills, Senate Bill374 by state Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento -- which would ban all semi-automatic rifles with detachable magazines -- passed the Assembly on a 44-31 vote late Tuesday. Then the Assembly voted 41-34 on Wednesday to approve SB567 by state Sen. Hannah Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, which would expand the definition of an illegal shotgun.

Both now await a vote on amendments from the state Senate, which has already passed the bills, before going to Brown's desk.

The Assembly also voted 43-30 Wednesday to agree to Senate amendments to AB48 by Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, which would ban conversion kits used to turn legal ammunition magazines into illegal high-capacity magazines.

The only gun-control bill that ran into trouble was SB396 by state Sen. Loni Hancock, D-Berkeley. It would ban possession of all high-capacity ammunition magazines, even those that had been grandfathered in under the 1999 update to California's assault-weapons law. Four votes in, the Assembly fell short, but Hancock and Assemblyman Anthony Rendon, D-South Gate, may call for another vote Thursday.

The Assembly also Wednesday voted 41-27 to pass SB55 by state Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Vacaville, which would expand the list of convicts who can't legally own guns to include those with multiple drug or alcohol convictions, active participants in street gangs and others. The state Senate needs to approve Assembly amendments before the bill goes to Brown's desk

Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla, D-Concord, rhetorically asked how many times gun-rights advocates have insisted that it's not guns that kill people, but other people. "You just can't have it both ways -- this bill goes to the heart of the matter," she said.

Already on the governor's desk are measures that would expand the state's safety-certificate requirement from handguns to long guns as well; crack down on "straw purchasers" who buy guns on behalf of those legally prohibited from doing so; tighten exemptions to the law prohibiting the purchase of handguns not tested and deemed safe by the state; and ban use of lead ammunition in hunting. Brown has until Oct. 13 to sign or veto this year's bills.

Bill Whalen, a Hoover Institution research fellow and longtime GOP media consultant and speechwriter, said that unlike the purple nature of many pockets in Colorado, most California districts are either deeply blue -- like in the Bay Area -- or very red. That means most Democrats don't have to worry about a Republican taking their job just for supporting gun-control measures.

"Show me a Democrat that is coming from hunting territory," he said. "You don't have too many members caught in the crossfire."

And because Democrats so strongly dominate the Legislature, they can afford to allow peers from the few "swing" districts to vote against the gun measures if they think it will protect their jobs, Whalen said.

Public, media barred from hearing on James Holmes’ sanity

COMMENT: Still hasn’t gone to trial? Secret pretrial? Truth serum? This reminds me of the Amy Bishop case. Seventeen months after the fact and counting…..

Public, media barred from hearing on James Holmes’ sanity

By Associated Press Dec. 20, 2013

(DENVER) — The public and the news media will be barred from a pretrial hearing in the Colorado theater shooting case that will include testimony from a psychiatrist who evaluated whether defendant James Holmes was insane, the judge ruled Friday.

Arapahoe County District Judge Carlos A. Samour Jr. said testimony from the psychiatrist and other witnesses would “infect a large portion of the jury pool with factual information” about Holmes’ sanity and make it impossible for him to get a fair trial.

The order also bars victims of the July 2012 attack from the hearing, scheduled to start Jan. 27.

Holmes pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to charges of killing 12 people and injuring 70 others. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

His lawyers acknowledge he was the shooter but argue he was in the grips of a psychotic episode.

Holmes underwent a mandatory sanity evaluation at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Pueblo last summer. The results have not been made public, but prosecutors asked the judge to allow other doctors selected by the prosecution to examine Holmes.

That request will be argued at the January hearing.

The prosecution’s motion seeking the new examination hasn’t been made public. But in his ruling, Samour revealed that prosecutors claim the state hospital examination was faulty and the psychiatrist who conducted it, Dr. Jeffrey Metzner, “had an unfair bias.”

No phone listing could be found for Metzner. Liz McDonough, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Human Services, which oversees the hospital, said she could not comment.

Samour also revealed the specific areas in which prosecutors want their own experts to examine Holmes: whether he was insane at the time of the shooting, and whether he had a mental disease or defect that the defense could use to argue against the death penalty.

Samour said he was disclosing the details of the prosecution request because openness is important in the court system and because Colorado law grants victims the right to attend trials and critical hearings.

Samour’s 40-page ruling said the upcoming hearing “is one of those rare situations in which closure of a pretrial hearing is not only justified, but required” because of the potential damage to Holmes’ right to a fair trial.

More than seven pages of the ruling were redacted.

Metzger’s conclusions about Holmes’ sanity will be crucial evidence in Holmes’ trial, but it will be up to the jurors to determine whether he was insane.

Colorado law defines insanity as the inability to tell right from wrong.

If jurors decide Holmes was insane, he would be committed indefinitely to the state mental hospital. If they decide he was sane and convict him of first-degree murder, he could receive the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Prosecutors asked Samour to allow victims to attend the hearing even if the general public is excluded. Samour said if victims were allowed to attend, details of the testimony would inevitably wind up in the media.

News organizations including The Associated Press argued against closing the hearing. Steven Zansberg, an attorney representing the media companies, said he hadn’t read the ruling and couldn’t comment.

Holmes’ trial was scheduled to start in February, but it was postponed while the two sides argue whether prosecution experts can examine Holmes. No new date has been set.

Aurora Shooting and MK-Ultra

Aurora Shooting and MK-Ultra

A science presentation by James Holmes in 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEPAip5vT4Q

Consider how all this ties together: Stewart Brand is a board member of the Long Now Foundation, along with David Eagleman, who worked with James Eagan Holmes, the infamous orange-haired Colorado shooter. Brand was a key agent of MK-Ultra, who offset concerns that the Cybernetics Group’s plan of developing the “personal computer” was aimed at creating Big Brother, by marketing it as a tool to empower the masses. Eagleman, for his part, is now carrying on the legacy, having recently written Why The Net Matters: How the Internet Will Save Civilization, which Brand referred to as a "breakthrough work."

But, contrary to media depictions of him, Holmes was an extremely brilliant young man, before something went horribly wrong, after he became interested in study neuroscience, a field too closely associated with the sinister aspects of the hidden powers-that-be.

A video can be found on YouTube where Holmes summarizes the work he did at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, Calif., where he attended the eight-week summer camp when he was eighteen. Holmes happened to have focused on the study of Reversal of Temporal Order Judgment, a subject which Eagleman happens to specialize in.

Who is David Eagleman? He is a neuroscientist and writer at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a Guggenheim Fellow, a council member in the World Economic Forum, and a New York Times bestselling author published in 27 languages. Eagleman has written for The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Discover, Slate, The Atlantic, Wired, and been profiled on television programs as The Colbert Report and on the scientific program Nova Science Now. Stewart Brand wrote that “David Eagleman may be the best combination of scientist and fiction-writer alive.”[1]

But Eagleman is also a liar.

Eagleman is particularly interested in people’s subjective interpretations of reality. For example, numerous experimental findings suggest that people’s perception of time can be manipulated by repeated exposure to non-simultaneous stimuli. In an experiment conducted by Eagleman, a temporal order judgment reversal was induced in subjects by exposing them to delayed motor consequences. Eagleman writes that his long-range goal is “to understand how neural signals processed by different brain regions come together for a temporally unified picture of the world.”[2]

Curiously, however, when USA Today reported, “Neuroscientists debunk idea Colorado suspect was supersmart,” the authority they referred to was David Eagleman. Eagleman lied that Holmes' credentials were no better than those of an average student.[3] Of Holmes, he said, “He was just a second-year grad student… He didn't know anything.”

But, according to University of California, Riverside (UCR) recommendation letters submitted to the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC), Holmes graduated in the top 1% of his class with a 3.949 GPA. The UCR letters also described Holmes as “a very effective group leader’’ and a person who “takes an active role in his education, and brings a great amount of intellectual and emotional maturity into the classroom.”[4] “James received excellent evaluations from the professors and graduate students with whom he worked and was mentored.”[5]

The names of those who wrote the references letters, however, were blacked out.[6]

But somehow Eagleman suggested that at Salk Holmes had a reputation as a “dolt.”

Likewise, John Jacobson, a former researcher at Salk whom Holmes listed as his mentor during the camp, told the Los Angeles Times that the teenager was a “mediocre” student who was stubborn and did not listen to direction. Jacobson told the newspaper Holmes “should not have gotten into the summer program. His grades were mediocre. I’ve heard him described as brilliant. This is extremely inaccurate.”

Eagleman and Jacobson obviously had something to hide. What was it?

In June 2011, Holmes enrolled as a PhD student in neuroscience at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.[7] He received a $21,600 grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH, a biomedical research facility primarily located in Bethesda, Maryland. An agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, NIH is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and health-related research.

Holmes also received a $5,000 stipend from the University of Colorado, Denver.[8] The letter accepting Holmes into the program read, “Your personal and professional qualities are truly outstanding,” and “you will be an excellent match for our program.”[9] At least two researchers were vying for Holmes to join their laboratories, and the school offered him a stipend $22,600 per year and free tuition. Though Holmes received a letter of acceptance to UIUC, where he was offered the $22,600 stipend and free tuition, he declined their offer without specifying a reason.[10]

University of Colorado officials have declined to release Holmes' records, citing a Colorado judge's gag order that does not apply to other states.[11]

Holmes' defense attorneys claimed in a motion he was a “psychiatric patient” of the medical director of Anschutz's Student Mental Health Services prior to the Aurora shooting; however, the prosecution disagrees with that claim. Four days after the release of the defense attorney's motion, the judge required this information to be blacked out. CBS News later reported that Holmes met with at least three mental health professionals at the University of Colorado prior to the massacre.

Obviously, like most MK-Ultra Manchurian candidates, including Sirhan Sirhan, John Hinckley Jr. and the Unabomber, the media did a skillful job of painting the tragic incident in Aurora as an inexplicable occurrence perpetrated by a deranged individual.

NOTE: Two years later and still no trial.

This operation was botched so badly that the globlalists have memory holed it.

Not only did witnesses SEE multiple shooters two teen aged girls got shot OUTSIDE the back of the adjacent theater WHILE THE MAIN SHOOTING WAS IN PROGRESS.
Some say that I've been Delphied I'm not sure what it means.  They say that I'm a victim of some much bigger scheme. Do you believe it?

I feel sorry for him too. He got picked. Just like Adam Lanza and Lee Oswald. Timothy McVeigh same deal, though probably Timothy was a bit more involved. If you have ever seen "Arlington Road" it illustrates how easy it would be to frame a patsy.

James Holmes, the gunman behind the Dark Knight massacre in Colorado last July, has reportedly turned Muslim and prays five times a day.

The killer showed off a lengthy, thick beard during a court appearance earlier this month, and a prison source has claimed it is a symbol of his new-found faith.

The source said Holmes has turned to Islam as a way of justifying his horrific murder spree in an Aurora, Colorado cinema on July 20 which left 12 people dead and 58 people wounded
