Only Two Republicans Admit They Actually Read Secret Obama Trade Deal—Both Unsupportive
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/05/07/only-two-republicans-admit-they-actually-read-secret-obama-trade-deal-both-unsupportive/
Matthew Boyle and Alex Swoyer - 7 May 2015 - excerpted

Only two Senate Republicans from the entire conference of 54 members have admitted they read the details of President Barack Obama’s secret Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal as of this time.

With the first votes on the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track TPP just days away, it’s looking like Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) expects Americans to accept former House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) Obamacare logic for the trade deal: you have to pass it to find out what’s in it.

“If you want to hear the details of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal the Obama administration is hoping to pass, you’ve got to be a member of Congress, and you’ve got to go to classified briefings and leave your staff and cellphone at the door,” Politico’s Edward-Isaac Dovere wrote earlier this week. “If you’re a member who wants to read the text, you’ve got to go to a room in the basement of the Capitol Visitor Center and be handed it one section at a time, watched over as you read, and forced to hand over any notes you make before leaving. And no matter what, you can’t discuss the details of what you’ve read.”

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) has on numerous occasions publicly stated he has read the TPP—which is locked away in a secret room in the Capitol, access to which only lawmakers and certain staffers with high-level clearance are provided—and a spokeswoman for Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) on Thursday told Breitbart News that the Senator has read it as well. Despite asking press staff for every U.S. Senate Republican office throughout the day Thursday if their office’s senator has visited the secret room to read the deal—specifically the controversial “living agreement” contained within it—only Sessions and Lee would confirm they visited the room to read it.

“The senator has reviewed the TPP document and is still undecided on the issue,” Emily Long, Lee’s press secretary, said in an email....

...Sessions, on Wednesday, wrote to President Barack Obama asking him to make the TPP’s “living agreement” public before members were asked to vote on TPA.

“There is a ‘living agreement’ provision in TPP that allows the agreement to be changed after adoption—in effect, vesting TPP countries with a sweeping new form of global governance authority. TPP calls this new global authority the ‘Trans-Pacific Partnership Commission.’...

Remember Obama LIES MOST OF THE TIME.  WHATEVER HE SAYS IS THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IS TRUE.

  EXCERPTS FROM THE ARTICLE BELOW

Obama scolds Democrats on trade pact stance

With the cutting tone he usually reserves for his Republican adversaries, Mr. Obama said liberals who are fighting the new trade accord, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, were ''just wrong'' and, in terms of some of their claims, ''making this stuff up.'' If they oppose the deal, he said, they ''must be satisfied with the status quo'' and want to ''pull up the drawbridge and build a moat around ourselves.''

'When you ask folks specifically, 'What do you oppose about this trade deal?' they just say, 'Nafta,' '' Mr. Obama said. ''Nafta was passed 20 years ago. That was a different agreement. And in fact this agreement fixes some of what was wrong with Nafta by making labor and environmental provisions actually enforceable. I was just getting out of law school when Nafta got passed.''

Mr. Obama insisted that ''this is the most progressive trade deal in history'' and he scorned critics who say it would undermine American laws and regulations on food safety, worker rights and even financial regulations, an implicit pushback against Ms. Warren. ''They're making this stuff up,'' he said. ''This is just not true. No trade agreement's going to force us to change our laws.''

''The fact is,'' he added, ''some folks are just opposed to trade deals out of principle, a reflexive principle. And what I tell them is, 'You know what? If you're opposed to these smart, progressive trade deals, then that means you must be satisfied with the status quo.' ''

WAKE UP AMERICA.  THE ENEMY ARE THE LEADERS!!!!

Shock Report About Secret Obama Treaty: “Unlimited Migration From Mexico… Gun Import Bans… Ammunition Bans”

The Obama administration is feverishly working with foreign lawmakers and officials on a new Trans-Pacific Parternship (TPP) trade agreement. Yet what may seem like business as usual is anything but.

The President has made it a point to keep any details of the agreement completely secret, so much so that what amounts to a gag order has been placed on anyone who has anything to do with the bill. Even members of Congress are unable to discuss the contents of the bill with each other or in public, and anyone who is invited to discussions over the bill must leave cell phones and staff members behind. Since not even Republicans have yet to spill the beans about the details of the agreement, one can only assume that those attending the meetings are doing so under threat of criminal prosecution or worse if they talk.

This, of course, begs the question: What is so important to the Obama administration that it has to be kept secret from the American public until after the agreement has been passed?

What could possibly be so critical to national security that the purportedly “most transparent” Presidential administration in history says no one can talk about it?

Could it be that whatever is being negotiated is so significant that if the American people got wind of what was taking place there would be a collective outcry or widespread protests in the streets?

According to Gun Owners of America, this is exactly what’s happening, and it is nothing short of shocking.

Gun import bans … Microstamping of firearms … Ammunition bans … The full implementation of the anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty … Illegal amnesty which locks in millions of new, anti-gun voters.

This anti-gun wish list could be part of the secret trade agreement that President Obama is getting ready to spring on the Congress.

This trade pact is called “fast track,” and what it means is that Obama can write any form of gun control he chooses into a trade agreement — import bans, amnesty, etc.

And this agreement DOESN’T need two-thirds vote in the Senate, as a treaty would. When completed, the agreement is merely subject to a majority vote in both Houses … it can’t be filibustered … it can’t be amended … and the GOP can’t refuse to consider it.

Top Secret TPP means you won’t know what’s in the bill

Reports have already surfaced that the TOP SECRET draft contains a whole chapter with a European Union-style provision allowing unlimited migration from Mexico into the United States. This would fulfill Obama’s dream — which he begun with Executive Amnesty — to import millions of new anti-gun (liberal) voters into the country.

Of course, we can’t quote for you any of the language in the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement because the document is TOP SECRET. Obama won’t reveal it, even to most congressmen, until Congress has given it its imprimatur by allowing it to pass under fast track procedures.

On Monday, Politico reported:

If you want to hear the details of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal the Obama administration is hoping to pass, you’ve got to be a member of Congress, and you’ve got to go to classified briefings and leave your staff and cellphone at the door.

If you’re a [congressional] member who wants to read the text, you’ve got to go to a room in the basement of the Capitol Visitor Center and be handed it one section at a time, watched over as you read, and forced to hand over any notes you make before leaving.

And no matter what, you can’t discuss the details of what you’ve read.

Truly, even more than with ObamaCare, this is a case of “You have to pass it to find out what’s in it.”

Source: Gun Owners of America via Infowars.com

IS it outside of the realm of possibility that the Obama administration is trying, once again, to partner with a foreign governing body to restrict gun ownership in America? Would President Obama cede the sovereignty of our borders to the United Nations?

Call us fringe conspiracy theory lunatics, but given the secrecy surrounding the treaty one can only assume the worst.

It should be clear that the eventual goal of the foreign entities like United Nations is total disarmament of the American people.

Clinton confidant Dick Morris explained in 2012 how restrictions outlined in a foreign treaty such as the new trade agreement might work:

It’s entirely a backdoor effort to force gun registration and eventually bans and restrictions with the act of the United States Congress – to do it with international treaty.

One of the deadly parts about this is that when a treaty is signed and made binding in the United States it acquires the force of a Constitutional Amendment. Under the Supremacy Clause, every Congress and every state legislature has to honor that treaty, unless a Constitutional Amendment is passed to the contrary or unless all the other signatories let the U.S. out of the treaty.

So this would be permanent, long-term gun control…all done without Congress.

Source: Five Words For the United Nations: FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS

His views have been reinforced by an ambassador who sat in on the UN Small Treaty negotiations:

“In New York, right here on our own shores, we’ve got a Trojan horse. They won’t accept U.S. firearms policy. They want to take the decision away from the U.S. electorate and undermine our Constitution.”
Ambassador Faith Whittlesey
US Delegate to UN Small Arms Conference
January 2012

Moreover, just so we’re clear, the plan to disarm Americans has been in motion for many years. Last year we reported that the United Nations was operating within the borders of the United States already and according to their own job postings at the UN web site, they were actively recruiting Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Specialists.

According to the United Nations information page on ‘DDR’ operations, the New York post will involve various aspects related to the process by which a governing organization would confiscate firearms, all of which target what the U.N. calls “small arms.”

Disarmament is the collection, documentation, control and disposal of small arms, ammunition, explosives and light and heavy weapons from combatants and often from the civilian population.

Demobilization is the formal and controlled discharge of active combatants from armed forces and groups, including a phase of “reinsertion” which provides short-term assistance to ex-combatants.

Reintegration is the process by which ex-combatants acquire civilian status and gain sustainable employment and income. It is a political, social and economic process with an open time-frame, primarily taking place in communities at the local level.

Like Obamacare, we’ll soon find out the legal language behind the new Trans-Pacific Partnership. And like Obamacare, we can predict with a fair amount of certainty that this “free trade” agreement will be anything but free.

TPP----Secret Deal Could Contain a Myriad of Gun Restrictions, Ammo Bans!

 Created: Thursday, 07 May 2015
Written by Gun Owners of America
“We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it.” -- Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, encouraging rapid passage of ObamaCare in 2010

ACTION: Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Orrin Hatch may soon give the President authority to write gun control restrictions into a “trade agreement.” So click here to contact your Senators –- whether they are liberal or conservative. Urge them to vote against the anti-gun “fast track” bill (S. 995).

Will UN-style gun control be rammed down our throats?

Gun import bans ... Microstamping of firearms ... Ammunition bans ... The full implementation of the anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty ... Illegal amnesty which locks in millions of new, anti-gun voters.

This anti-gun wish list could be part of the secret trade agreement that President Obama is getting ready to spring on the Congress.

And this agreement DOESN’T need two-thirds vote in the Senate, as a treaty would. When completed, the agreement is merely subject to a majority vote in both Houses ... it can't be filibustered ... it can't be amended ... and the GOP can't refuse to consider it.

Top Secret TPP means you won’t know what’s in the bill

Reports have already surfaced that the TOP SECRET draft contains a whole chapter with a European Union-style provision allowing unlimited migration from Mexico into the United States. This would fulfill Obama’s dream -- which he begun with Executive Amnesty -- to import millions of new anti-gun (liberal) voters into the country.

Truly, even more than with ObamaCare, this is a case of "You have to pass it to find out what's in it."

Some Republicans are being duped

But that's not all: The fast track authority being granted to Obama and his successor for the next six years applies to whatever type of trade negotiation Obama chooses to enter into.

So, if he can write the UN Arms Trade Treaty into a trade agreement, then it can't be filibustered or amended or prevented from consideration.

Tragically, many conservative Republicans have listened to business lobbyists -- who are focused on the free trade issues without considering the impact on personal liberties -- and have endorsed fast track. But one business leader recently took Republican lawmakers to the woodshed for this:

By now Congressional Republicans should know better. The Obama administration has stonewalled Congress on many issues, e.g., guns to Mexico and the IRS scandal, and this President has ignored the law and by-passed Congress on such matters as executive amnesty and the Bergdahl prisoner exchange. [The] alleged economic benefits of TPP -- and they are minimal ... -- do not trump the Constitution, the law, and the proper use of fast track.

It is significant that, in Sen. Orrin Hatch's 114-page bill specifying the goals of U.S. trade negotiations (S. 995), there is not a single word prohibiting Obama from using the agreements to implement gun control. And yet, that gun control will be just as binding as if Congress enacted it in a statute.

You can read an article written by GOA’s Legislative Counsel, which goes into this issue in much more detail.

You can also go here to read the full article written by the business leader (mentioned above) explaining why fast track is NOT really about free trade.

ACTION: Contact your Senators -- no matter whether they are conservative or liberal. Urge them to vote against the anti-gun fast track bill (S. 995).

NOTE: Separate letters are used for Republicans and Democrats. But by using GOA’s pre-written letter in the Engage system, the correct letter will be automatically sent.

Nixon Hatched Fast Track, Not FDR
By Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch and author of The Rise and Fall of Fast Track Trade Authority

Amidst the distorted trade data and counterfactual foreign policy claims, U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman offered up a bit of revisionist U.S. trade policy history on Monday that must have left the folks listening to his Council on Foreign Relations speech scratching their heads.

No, FDR did not create Fast Track trade authority. And, JFK did not celebrate its renewal.

Invoking those Democratic icons is an interesting strategy, given that a sizable bloc of House GOP members oppose giving President Obama Fast Track.  The extraordinary authority, which Congress has refused to delegate for 15 of the past 20 years, let a president negotiate and sign a “trade” pact before Congress approved it and guaranteed a no-amendments vote in 90 days regardless of whether the pact met Congress’ objectives.

But maybe the target audience was House Democrats, given that only seven of the Democratic representatives have announced support for legislation introduced  early this year to revive the old Fast Track mechanism.

In his speech, Froman noted the 80th anniversary of the Reciprocal Trade Agreement Act (RTAA) of 1934 and declared that the trade authority it established was an antecedent of Fast Track, and that it was used by the Roosevelt administration, renewed 11 times by 1962 and toasted by President Kennedy.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp echoed Froman’s insinuations about   Fast Track: “every president, until now, has partnered with Congress to have this powerful tool to negotiate the best possible trade deals for America.” The talking point is also favored by the Business Roundtable and other corporate groups of the Trade Benefits America Coalition: “Trade Promotion Authority is a partnership between the President and Congress…Since the 1930's, such authority has been critical to the opening of new markets…”

Except, in fact, Fast Track was first hatched by Richard Nixon, not FDR. And it only went into effect in the 1970s, not the 1930s.

Due to its unpopularity, Fast Track was only in effect for five of the last 20 years. But that hasn’t stopped U.S. trade growth. Fast Track was only used on 16 of the hundreds of U.S. trade and commercial pacts that have gone into effect since the 1970s. Trade-expansion-focused President Clinton only had Fast Track for two of his eight years in office, after the House voted down his request for the extraordinary authority in 1998. Yet, Clinton’s administration completed more than 200 trade and commercial agreements with diverse countries.
And, that gets us to the TPA sleight of hand. The “TPA” that was established in the Reciprocal Trade Agreement Act of 1934 is “Tariff Proclamation Authority.” It has allowed presidents to declare cuts to tariffs – border taxes on goods – within parameters set by Congress. And yes, presidents have had that authority since the 1930s, including Fast-Trackless Clinton.

In contrast, Fast Track – for which “TPA” was not coincidentally chosen as the preferred rebranding – may be Nixon’s most under-appreciated power grab. For the first time in 200 years of U.S. history, Fast Track empowered the executive branch to “diplomatically legislate” changes to non-trade U.S. domestic policy via “trade” negotiations. Until Fast Track, Congress used five different forms of trade authority over the course of the nation’s history to direct executive branch trade negotiators. None of them granted executive authority beyond tariffs.

On top of all this he denied that Global corporations were using their  lawyers to frame the legislation !

No they were "top economists" !!! great I cannot believe the loads of slop he was peeling off

He also glossed over the "need to secrecy during negotiating the "deal"

He also glossed over the up down vote 50 votes as apposed to a 2/3 66 majority

He also glossed over no amendments allowed

Exclusive — Documents: Republicans In Congress Cook Up Phony Poll-Tested Talking Points To Push Obama Trade Deal

y Matthew Boyle6 May 2015Washington, DC545

The Wall Street Journal and NBC News claim a new poll shows Americans are more open than ever to global free trade agreements like the one President Barack Obama’s Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) would set up in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Asian trade deal. But a close look at the polling data suggests otherwise.

In addition, polling data and talking point documents that GOP pollster Frank Luntz’s polling firm has distributed to Republican members on Capitol Hill—documents that have not been previously public, but have since been obtained by Breitbart News and are shared here for the first time—show a concerted and organized effort by Republican leaders in Congress to mislead not just their members Congress-wide but also the American people on trade policy.
...
Almost everyone, even skeptics of the TPP and TPA deals or of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), supports the generic idea of “free trade” or at least the concept of “fair trade.” It’s very similar to the concept of “immigration reform.”

TPP On The Fast Track To Failure As Opposition To The Bill Remains United

House Republicans have been trying to gather votes for weeks, but they remain at least 20 supporters short of the number needed to pass a bill that would give President Obama fast track trade authority.

The traitors are those who vote for TPP.  TPP is bad for the country and GOOD FOR THE CORPORATIONS.  TPP IS FASCISM ON STEROIDS.  The traitors have been bought and paid for by the corporations.  Oby and the Central bankers are desperate to hold on to their power.  To them, power is everything and the people mean nothing.

    "REPUBLICANS" MOVE TO RESCUE OBAMATRADE

The White House and Senate Republicans are scrambling to win enough support for a key procedural vote Tuesday to move forward with President Obama’s trade agenda.

The vote is shaping up to be one of the most dramatic roll calls of this Congress and could be a stinging rebuke of the president by members of his own party. It may also doom a sweeping Pacific trade agreement that is a top priority for the Obama administration.

Senator Warren hits back at Obama in Pacific Rim trade fight

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren hit back at President Barack Obama in their tussle over "fast-track" authorization to negotiate a Pacific Rim trade treaty, a power she says could be used in the future to weaken Wall Street reforms.
The president, who wants expedited negotiating power to streamline the passage of trade deals through Congress, said last week that Warren's claims were "absolutely wrong."
Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat and prominent liberal voice, stuck to her argument in an interview published on Monday with a Washington Post blog, saying Obama should release details of the Pacific trade talks so legal experts can determine if a pact could be used to weaken U.S. bank rules.
"If the president is so confident it's a good deal, he should declassify the text and let people see it before asking Congress to tie its hands on fixing it," Warren said in the interview with the Plum Line blog.

US Sens McConnell, Reid's Verbal Jabs Suggest Close TPA Vote

By John Shaw
--Senate To Hold First TPA Procedural Vote At 2:30 PM
--Senate GOP Leader: Vote Is To Begin Broad Trade Debate
--Sen. Reid: Should Combine 4 Trade Bills Into One Package

WASHINGTON (MNI) - Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid continued Tuesday to battle over the coming Senate procedural vote on legislation renewing Trade Promotion Authority.

McConnell insisted the Tuesday afternoon vote is a process vote to begin a vigorous debate on trade policy, while Reid said he is "not sure" what McConnell's ultimate objectives are.

The Senate will vote at 2:30 p.m. ET on a motion to begin debating the TPA
 bill.

Sixty votes will be needed to begin formal consideration of the bill. All 54 Republicans are expected to support the motion but it's unclear how many Democrats will.

Senate Democrats ready to revolt over TPP 'fast track' authority
Harry Reid says bill will be ‘very difficult’ to pass without currency manipulation provisions as White House finds unusual ally in Republican leadership
Dan Roberts, Paul Lewis and Sabrina Siddiqui - May 12, 2015

Senate Democrats were on a collision course with the White House on Tuesday as the party’s newly emboldened liberal wing dug in its heels over global free trade deals it claims will drag down US wages and working conditions.

Ahead of one of the tightest and most uncertain votes in recent years, the Democratic minority leader, Harry Reid, took to the Senate floor to warn that his party would block passage of an enabling bill unless it was broadened to include currency manipulation provisions aimed at China.

Obama Heads To Nike Inc (NKE) Headquarters, Touting TPP To Nation Divided On Trade Deals

When U.S. President Barack Obama visits Nike Inc.’s world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, on Friday, he'll be promoting the benefits of the Trans-Pacific Partnership to an American public that is divided on the pros and cons of free trade agreements. The TPP, he'll say, is a "21st century" deal that will connect a dozen Pacific Rim nations under a unified set of regulatory, investment and trade rules.

The president was at the shoe company’s corporate headquarters on Friday to speak in support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, or TPP, a 12-nation agreement in the works that would establish new rules for tariffs with regards to trade involving the US and a host of Pacific Rim partners.

“If I didn’t think that this was the right thing to do for working families then I wouldn’t be fighting for it,” Obama from a stage outside Nike’s main office in Beaverton, Oregon.

Earlier in the day, Nike CEO Mark Parker said approval of the TPP would “accelerate investment in advanced footwear manufacturing” in the US.

But the opinions of the sneaker king and US president aren’t exactly universal. Police in riot gear was deployed outside of the Nike campus on Friday morning, local media reported, in order to monitor demonstrations who had gathered to protest the TPP.

Elizabeth Swager, the director of the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign, told The Oregonian that she considered the TPP “a trade deal that would benefit multinational corporations, but it's at the expense of working Americans everywhere.”

Another attendee at the protest, bus driver John Hively, took aim at the Obama administration’s fast-tracking of the bill and complained "We only know a few things [about TPP] because most of it is top-secret.”

It amazes me that all 54 Republicans are voting for this.  Including the son of Ron Paul.  Ron Paul would be the only Republican voting against this.  REMEMBER, WHATEVER OBY IS FOR, WE SHOULD BE AGAINST.

Ahead of one of the tightest and most uncertain votes in recent years, the Democratic minority leader, Harry Reid, took to the Senate floor to warn that his party would block passage of an enabling bill unless it was broadened to include currency manipulation provisions aimed at China.

continues...

I STILL THINK OBY WILL GET HIS 6 VOTES.  Surely there are 6 Democrats with skeletons in their closets including Menedez.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —Frustrated by being required to find his way to a private “dungeon” to read the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement, Rand Paul said Monday he is a “no vote” on a provision to allow President Obama to complete the deal on a fast track.

The Republican presidential candidate said in an interview in Manchester he will vote against granting Obama trade promotion authority, which limits Congress to only up or down votes on trade deals. A vote on “TPA” is expected as early as Tuesday on the Senate floor....

...“I’ve told leadership I’m a ‘no’ vote” on trade promotion authority, Paul said. “I’m hesitant to give blanket authority on stuff we haven’t seen. I’m not saying there wouldn’t be a time I could be for it, if I’d seen the trade agreement, and it’s fine,” Paul said.

“I still might vote for the trade agreement, but I hate giving up power. We give up so much power from Congress to the presidency, and with them being so secretive on the treaty, it just concerns me what’s in the treaty,” he said.

U.S. trade bill fails key Senate test vote
http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/12/us-usa-trade-idUSKBN0NX0B320150512

Legislation key to sealing a Pacific trade pact failed a key test in the Senate on Tuesday in the first broad gauge of congressional sentiment toward a deal that is central to President Barack Obama's strategic shift on Asia.

The Senate voted 52-45, missing the 60-vote threshold, to not limit debate on whether to proceed with a bill granting the White House authority to speed trade deals through Congress, which is opposed by many of Obama's fellow Democrats.

Senate Dems block key Obama priority

Washington (CNN)President Barack Obama's free trade push was blocked in the Senate on Tuesday as Democrats rebelled, throwing one of his biggest priorities in his remaining years in the White House into doubt.

Roughly 14 pro-trade Democrats emerged from a Tuesday afternoon meeting with other Senate Democrats saying they wouldn't vote to take up the trade bill -- which then failed on a 52-45 vote.

The Democrats complained that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was refusing to add a package of pro-worker provisions to the bill that many in the GOP see as unrelated and too costly.

"What we just saw here is pretty shocking," McConnell said on the Senate floor after the vote.

"What we've just witnessed here is the Democratic Senate shut down the opportunity to debate the top economic priority of the Democratic President of the United States," he said.

Other Republicans lashed out, too, saying they were furious to see Democrats stand in the way of a rare agreement with the White House.

Obama Hurls Insults at Liberals on Trade

Progressives called ignorant, insincere, and motivated by
politics, sparking fury among President's base

By Brent Budowsky | 05/12/15

President Obama’s performance in pushing for approval of fast track legislation of the Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal, in which he’s allied with Republicans and has spent the last week castigating and insulting liberal Democrats, has been one of the most bizarre and ill-advised performances of his presidency.

I spent many years working for senior Democratic Senators such as Lloyd Bentsen and House Democratic leaders beginning with the legendary Speaker Tip O’Neill, and have never seen any president of either party insult so many members of his own party’s base and members of the House and Senate as Mr. Obama has in his weeks of tirades against liberals on trade.

In Mr. Obama’s speech at Nike last week, his comments to Matt Bai of Yahoo over the weekend, and White House press secretary Josh Earnest’s comments to reporters on Monday, Mr. Obama and his White House staff have repeated a string of personal insults directed against prominent liberal Democrats in Congress, liberal Democrats across the nation, organized labor, and leading public interest and environmental groups who share doubts about the TPP trade deal.

Quote
For Obama to question liberals’ knowledge of trade, when he has chosen to keep the terms of the trade talks secret from the American people and most leading trade experts, and classified them as though the terms of trade talks should be equated with nuclear weapons secrecy, is absurd.

… In particular, President Obama should lead the charge to include in a trade bill the long-discussed and never enacted plan (which many business leaders and Republicans support) to create massive numbers of high wage jobs to rebuild America’s roads, ports, bridges, and schools.

^^^^^^^

There is no doubt in my mind that key leaders---Oby, McConnell and others-- are being paid off by corporations to get this deal through.

If TPP gets past, the corporations will prosper and the American people will suffer.

Notes from the X22 report----Oby wants the TPP done.  He wants the fast track.  This is also known as the TPA.  If fast tracked, the TPP creates special rules WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT.  Yesterday the senate voted against fast tracking.  For now.  16 industrial trade advisory committees are the only people that can see this TPP treaty without supervision.  These committees include the following corporations--ATT, GE, DOW CHEMICAL, NIKE, WALMART, and the American Petroleum Institute.

We really have not had a recovery and we have been living an illusion of a recovery---the statistics are all cooked.

The big banks have been borrowing from the Federal Reserve at 0% interest since the 07-08 crisis---IMO they have given little of that money back.

The dollar is losing ground everywhere.  TPP--in the thinking of the big corporations--is going to prop up the dollar.  For a while.

I can see fascism everywhere here in this deal.

Remember that the central bankers and those who run the US government have no allegiance to any country.  They only care about themselves and the money they have stolen from the American people.

Oby doesn't care who he runs over including members of his own party.  He is a lame duck but he squawks  more than any lame duck before him.

He is working for the corporations and the bankers and so are the Republicans---strange bedfellows.

It is a good time to review Aaron Russo's movie again--AMERICA-FROM FREEDOM TO FASCISM.

That's we are heading---from freedom to fascism.

Yes, the one party system.  Pork barrel spending coming down the pipe very soon.  This is just part of the game of ripping off America.

Obama, McConnell missteps undercut trade pact in Senate

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama and Senator Mitch McConnell have seldom worked together and it showed on Tuesday, when the political odd couple failed to persuade the U.S. Senate to move forward with a Pacific Rim trade treaty they both favor.
By hitting the brakes, at least for now, on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) at the center of Obama's legacy-defining foreign policy pivot to Asia, Senate Democrats put the president and Senate Republican Leader McConnell on notice.
Despite losing control of the Senate in November's elections, Democrats showed they can and will block legislation that they dislike as effectively as Republicans did for years, ending a brief, recent run of bipartisan achievements.
"The simple fact is that to pass the Senate, bills must have strong Democratic support," Democratic Leader Harry Reid said in a statement after the vote that handed his rival McConnell and the Democratic president a stunning setback.
The Senate, by a vote of 52-45 - short of the 60 votes needed to move forward - blocked debate on a bill giving Obama "fast-track" authority to complete the TPP.
The defeat underscored the president's poor record as a Capitol Hill persuader and added to an already embarrassing week in which key Arab leaders withdrew from Obama's Gulf Cooperation Council summit.
In the end, Obama "is going to get what he wants. But Senate Republicans are going to have to agree to the demands that Democrats are making," said Jim Manley, a Democratic strategist and former senior aide to Reid.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY)
has joined the chorus of Republican presidential candidates and members of Congress opposed to granting President Barack Obama’s request for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) which would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) Pacific Rim trade deal.

“I’ve told leadership I’m a ‘no’ vote” on trade promotion authority,” Paul said in New Hampshire, according to WMUR. “I’m hesitant to give blanket authority on stuff we haven’t seen. I’m not saying there wouldn’t be a time I could be for it, if I’d seen the trade agreement, and it’s fine.”

“I still might vote for the trade agreement, but I hate giving up power. We give up so much power from Congress to the presidency, and with them being so secretive on the treaty, it just concerns me what’s in the treaty,” Paul added.

Sen. Rand Paul Visits Secret Room To Read Obamatrade, Calls For Public Release Of Deal Text
Matthew Boyle - 13 May 2015

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), an opponent of the secretive Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Pacific Rim trade deal Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP)—went inside the secret room inside the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday morning to read the TPP text and told Breitbart News exclusively afterwards that he believes President Barack Obama should make it public now.

The deal’s text is kept in a room behind double doors that each have signs: “No Public Or Media Beyond This Point.”

“It’s done like you’re going in to read a classified briefing though it’s not actually ‘classified.’ It’s called ‘confidential,’” Paul said in an interview with Breitbart News outside the room after reading it. Paul and his legal staff spent about 45 minutes in the room reading the deal’s text.

“I think the staff signed an agreement [which didn’t include a non-disclosure]—they signed in, it’s  a normal procedure,” he explained. “But I wasn’t required to sign in.”

Well, that didn't take long----I wonder how much pork is attached?

OBY trade bill revived after bipartisan deal sets new votes

The trade deal was back on track Wednesday afternoon, just a day after hitting the skids in a Democratic filibuster, after leaders struck a bipartisan agreement to move forward.

Democratic senators lost their bid to have four trade-related bills combined into a single measure, but did secure the chance to have votes related to all four bills, giving them the platform they wanted.

“Democrats want a path forward on all four,” Minority Leader Harry Reid, the top Democrat, said.

Exactly a day earlier, Mr. Reid led his troops in filibustering, embarrassing President Obama, who has made trade his top domestic priority in his final years in office.

The new schedule will have the Senate vote on a new combined bill to maintain trade preferences for African nations and a bill to stiffen customs enforcement here in the U.S., then turn to another bill that combines both fast-trade trade negotiating powers for the president and training and financial assistance for workers displaced by free trade.

That second set of bills is considered the critical package, but Democrats had insisted the first package also get a quick vote. The customs enforcement legislation contains a provision directing the administration to take stiffer steps to fight against countries deemed to be manipulating their currencies to gain a trade advantage versus the U.S.

Mr. Obama opposes that language, saying it would kill any eventual trade deal he tries to strike with Asian countries as part of the Trans Pacific Partnership he’s currently negotiating. Keeping the currency manipulation language in the secondary bill, rather than in the main fast-track bill, keeps the process moving forward.

NOTE: There appears to be some confusion as to whether or not Rand supports TPA/TPP. Another article states that HE DOES NOT SUPPORT TPP. So not sure why the New American says he does. More research is needed or a call to the Senators office to find out.

Senate Passes Obama's TPP Fast-Track Trade Proposal

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-05-14/senate-passes-obamas-tpp-fast-track-trade-proposal

Two days ago there was some rejoicing and much surprise when the "Warren-faction" of Senate liberals turned against Obama, and failed to vote for a fast-track approval of the TPP. That surprise lasted for about 48 hours when moments ago, in a 65-33 vote, the Senate finally advanced a measure allowing Obama to expedite approval of trade agreements, a bill with bipartisan support in that chamber which however according to Bloomberg may run into strong opposition from House Democrats.

Corporate Gods: “Obama, remember why we hired you; ram the TPP through”

by Jon Rappoport

May 14, 2015

NoMoreFakeNews.com

“Current TPP negotiation member states are the United States, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Chile, Singapore, Peru, Vietnam, New Zealand and Brunei. The TPP is the largest economic treaty in history, including countries that represent more than 40 per cent of the world´s GDP.” (Wikileaks)

“Since 1945, no American President has escaped vetting by elite Globalists. Partisan politics plays no role in this process. The one overriding issue of every Presidency has been: make sure Globalist legislation and treaties pass through to completion. Do not obstruct them. A little crooked President named Nixon got it in his head to erect anti-Globalist tariffs. He found himself on the floor looking up, with Henry Kissinger, David Rockefeller’s man, staring down at him, assuring him his days in the White House were over.” (The Underground, Jon Rappoport)

Obama is under the gun. Not since he pressured Congress, on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies, to pass Obamacare, has he worked so hard and sweated so much.

The latest Globalist treaty, the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), is on the table.

Elite mega-corporations all over the world, the Council on Foreign Relations (Rockefeller), the Bilderberg Group, the Trilateral Commission (Rockefeller) want the TPP to be ratified by the 12 member nations. They really want it. They insist on it.

Obama has run into Congressional roadblocks. They appear to be temporary, but make no mistake about it, he was put into office to bring this treaty to fruition. Failure is not an option.

Whatever Obama has to promise, to whomever he has to promise it, he’s making deals. Side deals, back room deals, upside down deals.

His masters don’t care that he’s a lame duck President at this point. Lame duck, waddling duck, it makes no difference. He’s got to come through.

And he knows it.

He also knows, because the TPP is another Globalist treaty, that more jobs will flee the US, more cheap imported goods will flood the US market from countries where slave wages prevail, where environmental laws aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. He knows those cheap goods will sink more American businesses.

He knows no private citizen anywhere in the world who doesn’t run a big corporation has read the contents of the TPP—and won’t read them before its passage.

Obama has had his marching orders for 10 years. He realized going in who his bosses were.

The Globalists don’t play games when it comes to a treaty like this. The TPP is their baby.

Remember Pelosi? She blew the whistle during the midnight negotiations on Obamacare. She said to her Congressional colleagues: “If you want to know what’s in the bill, you have to vote for it. Then you can read it.”

People began to wake up to the fact that, when thousand-page bills are on the table, legislators either can’t read them or choose not to. They just vote the way they’re told to.

So here is another one: the TPP. Congressional representatives have to go into a sealed room and read it. They can’t make copies. They can’t tell the public what’s in it.

Senator Rand Paul just went into the room. When he came out, he said he didn’t even know whether he’d read a draft or the final version.

He said he couldn’t disclose what was in the treaty. Why not? Who made that decision? Under what illegal authority are legislators prohibited from revealing the details of a treaty that will, when passed, bind all Americans and citizens of 11 other countries?

Leaks indicate that the TPP will set up private courts to rule on disputes between corporations and governments. For example, a foreign corporation tries to export a product to the US. They’re blocked. They appeal to this court. Relevant US law and US courts are ignored. Questions pertaining to environmental harm or toxicity re the product are decided in secret.

As Wikileaks notes, “Similar mechanisms have already been used. For example, US tobacco company Phillip Morris used one such tribunal to sue Australia (June 2011 – ongoing) for mandating plain packaging of tobacco products on public health grounds; and by the oil giant Chevron against Ecuador in an attempt to evade a multi-billion-dollar compensation ruling for polluting the environment. The threat of future lawsuits chilled environmental and other legislation in Canada after it was sued by pesticide companies in 2008/9. ISDS [Investor-State Dispute Settlement] tribunals are often held in secret, have no appeal mechanism, do not subordinate themselves to human rights laws or the public interest, and have few means by which other affected parties can make representations.”

Like GATT, NAFTA, and CAFTA, the TPP is a Globalist treaty that expands the power of mega-corporations around the world. At will, they move their manufacturing operations to places where workers are virtual slaves. They sell goods across borders, without paying billions in tariffs, regardless of the effects on smaller competitors, who are torpedoed and forced out of business.

All treaties under consideration should be published in full, at least two years before member nations vote on them. Then we would have time to see and understand what’s in them.

The secret shroud surrounding the TPP is a criminal farce.

Mainstream media dupes are fond of saying that those who warn against global dictatorship are crazy conspiracy theorists.

Well, what do you call it when a secret treaty expanding the international power of mega-corporations is passed into law, when that law supersedes every other law and court of the member nations?

Would you call it “a good business decision?” “Employment enhancement?” “Smarter people helping the rest of us?”

In the US, Congressional legislators are prancing and dancing and fencing. They aren’t at all sure they know what’s in the TPP. But their debates are taken seriously, as if they actually mean something.

It’s the blind leading the blind leading the blind. But behind it all, the architects of the TPP are fully aware of the meaning and consequences of what they’re doing.

They plucked Barack Obama out of obscurity to carry out a job. This job. Passage of the treaty.

So much for “the leader representing the people.”

Ditto for the other 11 members of the TPP.

Puppet show. Shadow play.

Organized crime.

The TPP treaty is a kind of religious document. We have to take it on faith. We have to accept what the priests are telling us.

They’re our pipeline to the corporate gods.

The Matrix Revealed

I’ve quoted the following interview in previous articles. It reveals the kind of Globalist power I’m talking about.

Here is a close-up snap shot of a remarkable moment from out of the past. It’s through-the-looking-glass—a conversation between reporter, Jeremiah Novak, and two (Globalist/Rockefeller) Trilateral Commission members, Karl Kaiser and Richard Cooper. The interview took place in 1978. It concerned the issue of exactly who was formulating US economic and political policy, which would include trade treaties like the TPP.

The careless and off-hand attitude of Trilateralists Kaiser and Cooper is astonishing. It’s as if they’re saying, “What we’re revealing is already out in the open, it’s too late to do anything about it, why are you so worked up, we’ve already won…”

NOVAK (the reporter): Is it true that a private [Trilateral committee] led by Henry Owen of the US and made up of [Trilateral] representatives of the US, UK, West Germany, Japan, France and the EEC is coordinating the economic and political policies of the Trilateral countries [which would include the US]?

COOPER: Yes, they have met three times.

NOVAK: Yet, in your recent paper you state that this committee should remain informal because to formalize ‘this function might well prove offensive to some of the Trilateral and other countries which do not take part.’ Who are you afraid of?

KAISER: Many countries in Europe would resent the dominant role that West Germany plays at these [Trilateral] meetings.

COOPER: Many people still live in a world of separate nations, and they would resent such coordination [of policy].

NOVAK: But this [Trilateral] committee is essential to your whole policy. How can you keep it a secret or fail to try to get popular support [for its decisions on how Trilateral member nations will conduct their economic and political policies]?

COOPER: Well, I guess it’s the press’ job to publicize it.

NOVAK: Yes, but why doesn’t President Carter come out with it and tell the American people that [US] economic and political power is being coordinated by a [Trilateral] committee made up of Henry Owen and six others? After all, if [US] policy is being made on a multinational level, the people should know.

COOPER: President Carter and Secretary of State Vance have constantly alluded to this in their speeches. [untrue]

KAISER: It just hasn’t become an issue.

This interview “slipped under the mainstream media radar,” which is to say, it was ignored, buried, sat on, censored.

US economic and political policy run by a committee of the Trilateral Commission—the Commission had been created in 1973 as an “informal discussion group” by David Rockefeller and his sidekick, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who, much later, was Obama’s mentor in the months before he was sworn in for his first term as President.

To inhale the scent of Obama’s approach to TPP negotiations, here is a quote from his first appointed US Trade Representative, Ron Kirk. Replying to his critics, Kirk wrote: “I am strongly offended by the assertion that our [TPP negotiating] process has been non-transparent and lacked public participation.”

This comment, in the face of the fact that the exact terms of the TPP are still secret.

  EXCERPTS FROM THE ARTICLE BELOW...........

Why Obama is 'absolutely wrong' on TPP and Warren is right

President Obama recently commented on the hypothetical concerns of Sen. Elizabeth Warren's (D-Mass.) opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal and stated she was "absolutely wrong":

"Think about the logic of that. The notion that I had this massive fight with Wall Street to make sure that we don't repeat what happened in 2007 and 2008," Obama said. "And then I sign a provision that would unravel it? I'd have to be pretty stupid. And it doesn't make any sense."

First, the president already chose to "unravel" Dodd-Frank with his 2014 omnibus bill. Warren labeled Obama's spending bill a "giveaway" that "Citigroup lobbyists literally wrote."

According to the Massachusetts senator, the president's spending bill "would let derivatives traders on Wall Street gamble with taxpayer money and get bailed out by the government when their risky bets threaten to blow up our financial system." So, in terms of the logic used to criticize Warren, Obama has already acted contrary to his own stated goals of preventing Wall Street from creating another derivatives-fueled implosion of the U.S. economy. Like his acquiescence to Citigroup and other banks, Obama continues to unravel banking regulations with the TPP deal.

Since the Government Accountability Office found that 2008's financial collapse cost the U.S. economy $22 trillion, worrying about "hypothetical" concerns in this case seems not only rational, but also a moral imperative. In addition, according to the Levy Economics Institute, the financial collapse resulted in "a Federal Reserve bailout commitment in excess of $29 trillion." If TPP weakens already lax banking regulations, we could be in for another economic meltdown in the future.

Will The Transpacific Partnership Force Government To Buy Vaccines From Big Pharma... whether the public needs them or not?

Will this force buying of vaccines, force the feds to force those vaccines on the rest of us?

Just a thought.

Over 1000 Japanese Citizens Band Together To Sue Their Government Over Participation In TPP

Back in March, we reported on a campaign in Japan seeking to raise awareness about the extreme copyright provisions in TPP. Of course, making copyright even more unbalanced is just one of many problems with TPP, and arguably not even the worst. Now activists in the country have launched a much broader attack on the whole agreement by filing a lawsuit against the Japanese government in an attempt to halt its involvement in the talks. As Mainichi reports:
A total of 1,063 plaintiffs, including eight lawmakers, claimed in the case brought to the Tokyo District Court that the Trans-Pacific Partnership pact would undermine their basic human rights such as the right to live and know that are guaranteed under the Constitution.

The envisaged pact would not only benefit big corporations but jeopardize the country's food safety and medical systems and destroy the domestic farm sector, according to their written complaint.
As well as oft-voiced concerns that Japan's key agricultural sector would be harmed, the plaintiffs are also worried that TPP will push up drug prices -- something that is a big issue for other nations participating in the negotiations. The new group rightly points out that corporate sovereignty jeopardizes the independence of Japan's judicial system, and said that the secrecy surrounding the talks:
violates the people's right to know as the document is confidential and the negotiating process will be kept undisclosed for four years after the agreement takes effect.

Although it is hard to judge how much of a threat this move represents to Japan's continuing participation in TPP, the legal firepower behind it is certainly impressive: according to the Mainichi story, there are 157 people on the legal team. At the very least, it shows that resistance to TPP and its one-sided proposals is growing -- and not just in the US. But you can't help thinking it would have been a good idea for concerned Japanese citizens to have made this move earlier, rather than leaving it to the eleventh hour, with TPP close to the finishing line.
