Even Stanley McChrystal Realizes How Much
the World Hates Our Drones

ADAM CLARK ESTES JAN 7, 2013

Now that he's teaching at Yale and writing memoirs, Stanley McChrystal is getting brutally honest about the ethically questionable war he helped architect in Afghanistan and environs. Specifically, he voicing serious concerns about the use of unmanned drones to fire missiles at terrorists hiding in the mountains -- or farmers or goat herders or whomever happens to be in harm's way. This is a great way to piss off not only more terrorists but also the rest of the world."The resentment created by American use of unmanned strikes … is much greater than the average American appreciates," McChrystal told Reuters on Monday. "They are hated on a visceral level, even by people who've never seen one or seen the effects of one." He added that drones add to the "perception of American arrogance that says, 'Well we can fly where we want, we can shoot where we want, because we can.'"

The rest of us have known about this problem of drone-induced rancor for a while now, at least since last October when the United Nations launched an investigation into America's use of drones. The UN turning against us must've served as a wake-up call of sorts for President Obama, because a month later, news emerged that his administration had been frantically trying to put together a new rule book -- there is no old rule book -- for targeted killings by drone strikes. The election had a lot to do with the urgency, and now that we're getting close to Obama's second inauguration, there's been little mention of drawing up rules or even coming up with a better way of carrying out the strikes so that civilians don't end up in on the wrong side of a missile.

The civilian casualty issue is surely what pisses the world off the most.

The Drone Ranger

by Dave Hodges -  http://www.thecommonsenseshow.com/2013/02/05/the-drone-ranger/

A recent Pew Survey found that 73 percent of surveyed Americans don’t have faith that lawmakers, particularly Congress, will, or are capable of doing the right thing. Should this be a surprise to anyone except our corporate controlled criminal government? With the exploits of key government officials and their scandals out in the open, are these results any surprise? On the whole, recent developments on the high-tech weapons front concretely justify America’s mistrust of their elected officials.

When Obama campaigned for his present job in 2008, he promised to stop the torture of prisoners as well as the unsanctioned murders. He also promised to close Guantanamo. He roundly chastised the criminality of the Bush administration for participating in the aforementioned crimes. A little over four years later, the torturing of prisoners continues, Guantanamo is still open and murders of nonmilitary targets have exponentially increased through the use of drones.

The Droning of Americans

Since 2009, Obama’s minions, through aerial assaults also have killed three U.S. citizens as well as countless of innocent civilians in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Obama’s actions begs the question as to whether the president has the right to order the death of Americans without due process of law.

One of those controversial and well publicized drone attacks involved the killing of Anwar al-Awalki. He was an American citizen and, at the same time, a radical Muslim cleric who had relocated his family to Yemen. He was rumored to be involved in repeated attempts to attack the U.S., including the Christmas day underwear bomber plot in 2009 that would have blown up a passenger jet over Detroit. The murder of Anwar al-Awalki was committed without any due process of law.

Also killed as the result of a drone attack was American citizen, Samir Khan. He was the editor of “Inspire,” an alleged al Qaeda ‘s online magazine. Kahn was never accused of participating in, or being involved with the planning of any terrorist activity. And since when has it been a criminal offense to be involved in al Qaeda, since we used their assets to attack Libya and have involved members of this organization in trying overthrow Syria’s Assad. Two weeks later, after the death of his father, in a separate drone attack, al-Awalki’s 16-year-old son, who was born in Denver was murdered by a drone. If these three individuals were involved in terrorist activity, then they should have been arrested and tried for their crimes. Instead, our communist-in-chief, decides on his own authority to murder these three Americans without any due process of law.

The Government Plans to Murder More Americans Without Due Process

A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force.” The memo makes it clear that these lethal attacks can be carried out even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S. And since when are intelligence reports considered to be proof of guilt or innocence? The Justice Department’s use of the term “associated force” is particularity troubling. Who or what could be considered an associated force? The Justice Department memo is silent on this point. Since dissent is being considered to be an act of terrorism by many government officials, could this mean that an associated force could simply mean that anyone who disagrees with the government is a legitimate target for a drone attack?

...........> State Governments are Beginning to Stand Up to Tyranny

Various state legislatures are beginning to take action on domestic surveillance drones. Maine has a bill introduced, to stop the over flights of drones. Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Texas as planning to take similar actions. The Virginia state legislature is commencing a hearing on a bill, designed to stop the federal government from engaging in these practices. Florida, will likely become the first state in the nation to enact domestic surveillance drone regulations into law.

Conclusion

Choose your own historical precedent. Call this group of criminals running our government disciples of Stalin, or call them Nazis. I prefer to call them what I know them to be, the Chicago Bolsheviks. We are entrusting our lives, our liberties into the hands of people who shipped guns, under Fast and Furious, into Mexico, which killed tens of thousands. At the same time, they are launching lethal drone attacks on Americans, as they are simultaneously attempting to disarm the country. How clear does it have to be that the five megabanks, who have hijacked our government, have declared war upon the American people. The questions remains, what are we going to do about it?

Surprisingly, the corporate-controlled media network, NBC, produced a very interesting interpretation of these facts.

States join battle over drone flights

By Megan R. Wilson    - 02/17/13 06:00 AM ET

The nascent drone industry is coming under threat from lawmakers on Capitol Hill and in state legislatures who are weighing restrictions on their use in the United States.

Eighteen states have considered bills that would limit the use of unmanned aerial systems, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures, and more are likely to follow suit.

In Washington, meanwhile, lawmakers are pushing for new civil liberties and privacy protections to ease fears about invasive surveillance from the skies.

Manufacturers of unmanned aerial systems say there is vast potential for police departments and law enforcement officials to use drones in their work. But the idea is being met with strong resistance in some states, including Virginia, which last week sent a bill to Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) that would create a two-year moratorium on police work with unmanned aircraft.

Several states — including California, Florida, New Jersey, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Missouri — are considering a moratorium similar to Virginia’s.

 ....... “Drones are going to cause people to take on a privacy renaissance,” Stepanovich said. “They're going to want to take their privacy back.”

How about looking at drone performance in theater?

They tend to crash a lot.  Are these thins going to be falling out of the sky when the NWO ramps their use up?

How will these things effect air traffic control?  For every mishap will the NWO MSM just chalk these mishaps to gun owners shooting at them?

Good point John .... ROBOTS ARE UNRELIABLE .... even robots
created for positive functions - this is from over a year ago .... but highlights the problem:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Drones Are Unreliable
The loss of a super secret US spy drone recently in Iran has drawn attention to the unreliability of drones. The Drones Crash Database has catalogued a large number of known drone crashes, and there must have been many more crashes and ‘loss of control events’ which are unreported in conflict zones like Afghanistan.
Anna Mulrine, of the Christian Science Monitor, reported recently in Alaska Dispatch.com, on the problem of unreliable drones.
One of the problems of drones is the long and complicated communication networks needed to control drones remotely, and their vulnerability to failure and disruption. Another problem is the two second delay that occurs in electronic signals from drone operators in the US to drone being used in Central Asia or the Middle East, and back again. (Much like the scene in a digital camera that changes after the shutter is pressed but before the picture is taken a drone operator is always two seconds behind what is happening where the drone is).
Blogger Jeffery Carr, has reported on studies by the US government that detail the reliability of drones. Drones are particularly vulnerable to disruption in satellite communications, and may be vulnerable to cyber attacks, which is the technique that Iran claims to have used to capture the American MQ-170 drone earlier this month.
David Pugliese of the Ottawa Citizen, re-reporting information published in the Christian Science Monitor describes an Iranian scientist who claims that Iran reprogrammes GPS coordinate and jams satellite communications to trick American drones into landing.
NOT ACCIDENTAL!
U.S. drone strikes up sharply in Afghanistan
Their use rose 72% last year compared with 2011, and the trend is likely
to continue as troops withdraw. But while the aircraft reduce risks to U.S. forces,
mistakes are deadly for civilians.
KABUL, Afghanistan — One morning recently, a teenager named Bacha Zarina was collecting firewood on her family's small farm in eastern Afghanistan. About 30 yards away, as family members recall, two Taliban commanders stood outside a house.
A missile screamed down from the sky, killing the two men instantly. Two chunks of shrapnel flew at Bacha Zarina and lodged in her left side.
Her family raced her to the nearest hospital, a half-hour's drive away, but she died en route, an accidental victim of the rapidly escalating U.S.-led campaign of drone strikes in Afghanistan. She was 14 or 15 years old.
EXCERPTS:
"The use of armed drones is likely to accelerate as most of the 66,000 U.S. troops in the country are due to withdraw by the end of 2014."
Obama Officials Refuse to Say if Assassination Power Extends to US Soil
Posted by: The Liberty Beacon™ Staff
Published February 25, 2013, filed under GOVERNMENT
The Justice Department “white paper” purporting to authorize Obama’s power to extrajudicially execute US citizens was leaked three weeks ago. Since then, the administration – including the president himself and his nominee to lead the CIA, John Brennan – has been repeatedly asked whether this authority extends to US soil, i.e., whether the president has the right to execute US citizens on US soil without charges. In each instance, they have refused to answer.
Brennan has been asked the question several times as part of his confirmation process. Each time, he simply pretends that the question has not been asked, opting instead to address a completely different issue. Here’s the latest example from the written exchange he had with Senators after his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee; after referencing the DOJ “white paper”, the Committee raised the question with Brennan in the most straightforward way possible:
Obviously, that the US has not and does not intend to engage in such acts is entirely non-responsive to the question that was asked: whether they believe they have the authority to do so. To the extent any answer was provided, it came in Brennan’s next answer. He was asked:
Could you describe the geographical limits on the Administration’s conduct drone strikes?”
Brennan’s answer was that, in essence, there are no geographic limits to this power: “we do not view our authority to use military force against al-Qa’ida and associated forces as being limited to ‘hot’ battlefields like Afghanistan.” He then quoted Attorney General Eric Holder as saying: “neither Congress nor our federal courts has limited the geographic scope of our ability to use force to the current conflict in Afghanistan” (see Brennan’s full answer here).
Revealingly, this same question was posed to Obama not by a journalist or a progressive but by a conservative activist, who asked if drone strikes could be used on US soil and “what will you do to create a legal framework to make American citizens within the United States believe know that drone strikes cannot be used against American citizens?” Obama replied that there “has never been a drone used on an American citizen on American soil” – which, obviously, doesn’t remotely answer the question of whether he believes he has the legal power to do so. He added that “the rules outside of the United States are going to be different than the rules inside the United States”, but these “rules” are simply political choices the administration has made which can be changed at any time, not legal constraints. The question – do you as president believe you have the legal authority to execute US citizens on US soil on the grounds of suspicions of Terrorism if you choose to do so? – was one that Obama, like Brennan, simply did not answer.
Former Obama Press Secretary Was Ordered To Act As If Drone Program Did Not Exist
The first rule of the drone program is that you do not talk about the drone program
Steve Watson
Prisonplanet.com
Feb 25, 2013
In a rare admission, Robert Gibbs, the former White House Press Secretary under Obama, told reporters Sunday that he was ordered to act as if there was no such thing as an active US drone program.
“When I went through the process of becoming press secretary, one of the first things they told me was, you’re not even to acknowledge the drone program,” Gibbs said on MSNBC’s “Up With Chris Hayes” this past weekend.
Gibbs said that he was told “You’re not even to discuss that it exists.”
Noting that the notion was “inherently crazy”, Gibbs said “You’re being asked a question based on reporting of a program that exists.”
“So you’re the official government spokesperson acting as if the entire program—pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.” Gibbs, who was Press Secretary between 2009 and 2011, said.
http://www.prisonplanet.com/rand-paul’s-third-letter-to-the-cia-can-you-kill-with-drones-in-the-usa.html
Rand Paul’s Third Letter to the CIA: Can You Kill with Drones in the USA?
Feb 28, 2013
This letter is a few days old, but is very important for every American to be aware of. Essentially, Rand Paul is threatening to filibuster Barack Obama’s nominee for the CIA, John Brennan, due to his refusal to answer a simple question:
Do you believe that the President has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and without trial?
This should not be a complicated question to answer, yet it seems Obama, Brennan and pretty much every other little power consumed bureaucrat is incapable of doing so.  Below is Rand Paul’s letter reprinted in full (my emphasis added).
Dear Mr. Brennan,
In consideration of your nomination to be Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), I have repeatedly requested that you provide answers to several questions clarifying your role in the approval of lethal force against terrorism suspects, particularly those who are U.S. citizens. Your past actions in this regard, as well as your view of the limitations to which you are subject, are of critical importance in assessing your qualifications to lead the CIA. If it is not clear that you will honor the limits placed upon the Executive Branch by the Constitution, then the Senate should not confirm you to lead the CIA.
During your confirmation process in the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI), committee members have quite appropriately made requests similar to questions I raised in my previous letter to you-that you expound on your views on the limits of executive power in using lethal force against U.S. citizens, especially when operating on U.S. soil. In fact, the Chairman of the SSCI, Sen. Feinstein, specifically asked you in post-hearing questions for the record whether the Administration could carry out drone strikes inside the United States. In your response, you emphasized that the Administration “has not carried out” such strikes and “has no intention of doing so.” I do not find this response sufficient.
The question that I and many others have asked is not whether the Administration has or intends to carry out drone strikes inside the United States, but whether it believes it has the authority to do so. This is an important distinction that should not be ignored.
Just last week, President Obama also avoided this question when posed to him directly. Instead of addressing the question of whether the Administration could kill a U.S. citizen on American soil, he used a similar line that “there has never been a drone used on an American citizen on American soil.” The evasive replies to this valid question from the Administration have only confused the issue further without getting us any closer to an actual answer.
For that reason, I once again request you answer the following question: Do you believe that the President has the power to authorize lethal force, such as a drone strike, against a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil, and without trial?
I believe the only acceptable answer to this is no.
Until you directly and clearly answer, I plan to use every procedural option at my disposal to delay your confirmation and bring added scrutiny to this issue and the Administration’s policies on the use of lethal force. The American people are rightfully concerned, and they deserve a frank and open discussion on these policies.
Sincerely,
Rand Paul, M.D.
United States Senator
"PROGRESSIVES" ~ These are not the droids you are looking for ...
Beware the Droids of March
Mar 10th, 2013 by TMH
By: Terresa Monroe-Hamilton
Hellfire from above, DHS from below — a match made in the fevered imagination of a reality TV producer whose material is about to be rejected for lacking plausibility. What at first appears laughable, is a security nightmare on our borders. Napolitano has drones patrolling the Canadian border, while none are stationed on the Mexican border. We are furloughing 60,000 border agents because of a fake ‘sequestration emergency,’ while obligingly granting visas to our Jihadist enemies and denying them to those shifty Europeans. America has become a security free zone, where radical Islamists come to play in the sun and kill Americans for sport. But hey… at least they aren’t using evil black guns.
America made a horrific mistake after 9-11. Actually, several. We declared a ‘War on Terror’ which was too vague and easy to manipulate. When going to war, one should name his enemy — such as radical Islam — and take the fight to them. (Of course, the assault lawyers will be quick to point out that “radical Islam” is not a nation; well, no, but neither is “terror.”) Actual war should have been declared and Iran should have been dealt with — violently. We kept claiming that Saudi Arabia was our friend, but in reality, the majority of the terrorists on that infamous day came from there. Whether sanctioned by the government or not, at the very least all dealings with Saudi Arabia should have been halted immediately (oil or not) and sanctions should have been put in place. Frankly, to this day, no one should be allowed in this country from an Islamist state without a full background check and strict security. But that would be sanity, which is in short supply in America these days. Now, our government beds down with the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda – the very ones who killed almost 3,000 Americans in the most horrendous attack on American soil to have ever occurred. Our leadership is pervasively infiltrated with the very ones who murdered our people and somehow, America seems fine with that — as long as you accept that media-squelched dissent is the same as “acceptance” — and Barack Obama is aggressively furthering it.
Quote
The government is ramping up a police state here in America in a big hurry. With the purchase of 1.6 billion rounds of ammo, more guns than can be counted, over 2700 heavily armored MRAPs (vehicles protected against IEDs and outfitted with gun turrets — should be handy in protecting against Ma and Pa America when they get uppity and guarding against all those landmines across rural America — cleverly disguised as potholes), warehousing food and weapons – you would think that Armageddon is due just about any old time now. The federal government is arming not only local city police forces, but the Social Security Administration, the Department of Education, the IRS, the EPA and even the Railroad Retirement Board (?!). If everyone gets their very own SWAT teams, can drones for everyone be far behind? And if you think that they’ll just use them for tickets (heinous all by itself), weather reports and traffic management, you are living in LaLa Land, waiting for SkyNet to take over.
UAV reported within 3 miles of LaGuardia Airport
For the second time within a week, police are investigating reports of an unmanned drone spotted flying over New York within three miles of LaGuardia Airport.
According to journalist Christopher Robbins, police scanner audio revealed that the NYPD was called to look into an “unusual incident” concerning reports of a “drone flying” near exit 23 of the Long Island Expressway (LIE).
According to Robbins, the NYPD later reported a “negative result” after investigating the incident, although it is unclear whether this means they couldn’t identify the drone or had discounted the report altogether.
Last Monday, the crew of Alitalia Flight 608 reported a drone just 200 feet away from their aircraft as it approached John F. Kennedy airport. The drone was initially reported as having four engines, but the FBI later described the object as having four propellers and being only three feet wide.
The incident, which occurred at 1,750 feet and roughly three miles from runway 31R , prompted the FBI to ask the public for information on identifying the owner of the drone.
By law, remote controlled planes and drones can only fly to a maximum of 400 feet and operators must notify air traffic control if they are going to fly within three miles of an airport.
In May last year a military or police drone flying in controlled airspace over Denver almost caused a mid-air collision with a Cessna jet.
Last year, Congress passed legislation paving the way for what the FAA predicts will be around 30,000 operating in US skies by 2020.
Within months, the drone industry announced a campaign to “bombard the American public with positive images and messages about drones in an effort to reverse the growing perception of the aircraft as a threat to privacy and safety.”
As we reported in December, thousands of pages of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) documents newly released under the Freedom Of Information Act have revealed that the military, as well as law enforcement agencies, are already extensively flying surveillance drones in non-restricted skies throughout the country.
FAA documents obtained by the Center for Investigative Reporting last August revealed that the FAA gave the green light for surveillance drones to be used in U.S. skies despite the fact that during the FAA’s own tests the drones crashed numerous times even in areas of airspace where no other aircraft were flying.
Critics have warned that the FAA has not acted to establish any safeguards whatsoever, and that Congress is not holding the agency to account.
JSoc: Obama's secret assassins
The president has a clandestine network targeting a 'kill list'
justified by secret laws. How is that different than a death squad?
The film Dirty Wars, which premiered at Sundance, can be viewed, as Amy Goodman sees it, as an important narrative of excesses in the global "war on terror". It is also a record of something scary for those of us at home – and uncovers the biggest story, I would say, in our nation's contemporary history.
Though they wisely refrain from drawing inferences, Scahill and Rowley have uncovered the facts of a new unaccountable power in America and the world that has the potential to shape domestic and international events in an unprecedented way. The film tracks the Joint Special Operations Command (JSoc), a network of highly-trained, completely unaccountable US assassins, armed with ever-expanding "kill lists". It was JSoc that ran the operation behind the Navy Seal team six that killed bin Laden.
Scahill and Rowley track this new model of US warfare that strikes at civilians and insurgents alike – in 70 countries. They interview former JSoc assassins, who are shell-shocked at how the "kill lists" they are given keep expanding, even as they eliminate more and more people.
Our conventional forces are subject to international laws of war: they are accountable for crimes in courts martial; and they run according to a clear chain of command. As much as the US military may fall short of these standards at times, it is a model of lawfulness compared with JSoc, which has far greater scope to undertake the commission of extra-legal operations – and unimaginable crimes.
JSoc morphs the secretive, unaccountable mercenary model of private military contracting, which Scahill identified in Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army, into a hybrid with the firepower and intelligence backup of our full state resources. The Hill reports that JSoc is now seeking more "flexibility" to expand its operations globally.
JSoc operates outside the traditional chain of command; it reports directly to the president of the United States. In the words of Wired magazine:
"JSoc operates with practically no accountability."
Scahill calls JSoc the president's "paramilitary". Its budget, which may be in the billions, is secret.
What does it means for the president to have an unaccountable paramilitary force, which can assassinate anyone anywhere in the world? JSoc has already been sent to kill at least one US citizen – one who had been indicted for no crime, but was condemned for propagandizing for al-Qaida. Anwar al-Awlaki, on JSoc's "kill list" since 2010, was killed by CIA-controlled drone attack in September 2011; his teenage son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki – also a US citizen – was killed by a US drone two weeks later.
This arrangement – where death squads roam under the sole control of the executive – is one definition of dictatorship. It now has the potential to threaten critics of the US anywhere in the world.
The Department of Homeland Security Assault
has ordered up a fleet of these babies:
Homeland Security required that this Predator drone, built by General Atomics, be
capable of detecting whether a standing human at night is "armed or not."
DHS built domestic surveillance tech into Predator drones
Homeland Security's specifications say drones must be able to detect whether a civilian
is armed. Also specified: "signals interception" and "direction finding" for electronic surveillance.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has customized its Predator drones, originally built for overseas military operations, to carry out at-home surveillance tasks that have civil libertarians worried: identifying civilians carrying guns and tracking their cell phones, government documents show.
Quote
The documents provide more details about the surveillance capabilities of the department's unmanned Predator B drones, which are primarily used to patrol the United States' northern and southern borders but have been pressed into service on behalf of a growing number of law enforcement agencies including the FBI, the Secret Service, the Texas Rangers, and local police.
Homeland Security's specifications for its drones, built by San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, say they "shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not," meaning carrying a shotgun or rifle. They also specify "signals interception" technology that can capture communications in the frequency ranges used by mobile phones, and "direction finding" technology that can identify the locations of mobile devices or two-way radios.
Larson, that's a bump. Our problem, as citizens of this nation we will take the collaterall damage.
  We are they!  An old friend of mine, retired captain marines use to say that daily ( may he RIP),  at first I got a kick out of his expression , that is until I gave it serious consideration. The fact our nation has invaded, genocided, murdered,tortured and basically hammered other nations has not made the Ole USA popular.
 Once upon a time we were looked upon as the as the shining star, the land of equality, the home of the free, ETC. I remember seeing flags of the USA hanging out the windows in foriegn lands, a show of support and respect. The foriegn folks flying these flags had a change of heart, (the flags have been removed).
  We, right here are the true target of the elites gola, the reamining abominations are all a segment of their highly advanced scheme, most folks hang on to the dream, in desperation, ignorence and FEAR.
 Without honor a nation can't stand.  Put on your seat belt and buckle up.
  So they tell us we don't have to worry about drones in our communities?  I think not.
Drone industry predicts explosive economic boost
The impact of drones on privacy and national security remain matters of intense debate, but the economic impact, however, is becoming clearer by the day.
Private-sector drones will create more than 70,000 jobs within three years and will pump $82 billion into the U.S. economy by 2025, according to a major new study commissioned by the industry’s leading trade group, the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). The study assumes that drones are fully integrated into the national airspace by 2015, in line with the current schedule set by Congress.
Some states are poised to be especially big winners.
Virginia, for example, stands to gain nearly 2,500 jobs by 2017. It also could take in $4.4 million in tax revenue and see more than $460 million in overall economic activity by 2017, the report says.
Virginia would gain the eighth-most jobs of any state as a result of drone integration. Maryland isn’t far behind, with projections of more than 1,700 new jobs by 2017.
Florida, Texas, California, New York and Washington are among the other states expected to benefit the most, according to the study.
Oregon Company to Sell Drone Defense
Technology to Public
The company says it won't knock drones down, but will
stop them from 'completing their mission'
By JASON KOEBLER
March 15, 2013
Do you want to keep drones out of your backyard?
An Oregon company says that it has developed and will soon start selling technology that disables unmanned aircraft.
The company, called Domestic Drone Countermeasures, was founded in late February because some of its engineers see unmanned aerial vehicles—which are already being flown by law enforcement in some areas and could see wider commercial integration into American airspace by 2015—as unwanted eyes in the sky.
"I was personally concerned and I think there's a lot of other people worried about this," says Timothy Faucett, a lead engineer on the project. "We've already had many inquiries, a lot of people saying 'Hey, I don't want these drones looking at me.'"
Domestic Drones Countermeasures was formed as a spin-off company from Aplus Mobile, which sells rugged computer processors to defense contractors—though the company won't discuss its specific technology because it is still applying for several patents. Faucett says that work has helped inform its anti-drone technology.
The company will sell land-based boxes that are "non-offensive, non-combative and not destructive." According to the company, "drones will not fall from the sky, but they will be unable to complete their missions."
Oooopps! Other countries are gaining the technology to fight back, in kind ...
time to 'reign in' the use of drones, set some 'guidelines' say Obama henchmen ...
As drone monopoly frays,
Obama seeks global rules
By Tabassum Zakaria
WASHINGTON | Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:20am EDT
(Reuters) - President Barack Obama, who vastly expanded U.S. drone strikes against terrorism suspects overseas under the cloak of secrecy, is now openly seeking to influence global guidelines for their use as China and other countries pursue their own drone programs.
The United States was the first to use unmanned aircraft fitted with missiles to kill militant suspects in the years after the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington.
But other countries are catching up. China's interest in unmanned aerial vehicles was displayed in November at an air show . According to state-run newspaper Global Times, China had considered conducting its first drone strike to kill a suspect in the 2011 murder of 13 Chinese sailors, but authorities decided they wanted the man alive so they could put him on trial.
"People say what's going to happen when the Chinese and the Russians get this technology? The president is well aware of those concerns and wants to set the standard for the international community on these tools," said Tommy Vietor, until earlier this month a White House spokesman.
Quote
A U.N. human rights investigator who is looking into drone strikes worldwide said on Friday the U.S. campaign had violated Pakistan's sovereignty.
Quote
One of the Obama administration's goals is to "regularize" the drone program, making it more a part of accepted U.S. practice in the future, Lewis said. "This is going to be part of warfare."
... about to start the DRONING of SYRIA?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

CIA begins sizing up Islamic extremists in Syria for drone strikes

The strategy is part of the agency's secret contingency planning to protect the U.S.
and its allies as the violence there grows. Some militants in Syria are seen as closely linked to Al Qaeda.

By Ken Dilanian and Brian Bennett, Los Angeles Times
March 15, 2013, 4:32 p.m.

WASHINGTON — The CIA has stepped up secret contingency planning to protect the United States and its allies as the turmoil expands in Syria, including collecting intelligence on Islamic extremists for the first time for possible lethal drone strikes, according to current and former U.S. officials.

President Obama has not authorized drone missile strikes in Syria, however, and none are under consideration.

The Counterterrorism Center, which runs the CIA’s covert drone killing program in Pakistan and Yemen, recently shifted several targeting officers to improve intelligence collection on militants in Syria who could pose a terrorist threat, the officials said.

The targeting officers have formed a unit with colleagues who were tracking Al Qaeda operatives and fighters in Iraq. U.S. officials believe that some of these operatives have moved to Syria and joined Islamic militias battling to overthrow President Bashar Assad.

Quote
The CIA and the White House declined requests for comment Friday on the targeting effort.

Quote
"If we do this, why don't we start droning people in Hezbollah?" asked a former CIA officer who worked in Iraq, referring to the Lebanon-based militant group that Washington considers a terrorist organization. "It opens the door for a lot of other things."

EMP drones ... fade to black.

Counter-electronics High-powered Advanced Missile Project:
Boeing’s new drone-borne EMP missile

By Madison Ruppert

(Image credit: Boeing)

The cutting-edge technology being deployed on the various unmanned platforms, better known as drones, is nothing short of mind-bending.

To add to the long list of amazing drone technologies, Boeing has now demonstrated their Counter-electronics High-powered Advanced Missile Project (CHAMP), which is aimed at disabling and destroying any and all electronics.

Boeing is clearly quite proud of CHAMP, evidenced by a press release which states that the missile “may one day change modern warfare, by defeating electronic targets with little or no collateral damage.”

The test was carried out on October 16, 2012 by a Boeing Phantom Works team in concert with members of the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate team along with Raytheon Ktech, which supplied the high power microwave source.

A video of the test can be found here (thanks to Discovery for the link):

Is America Droning, or Cloning Terror in the Middle East?
Posted by: The Liberty Beacon™ Staff
Published March 16, 2013, filed under COMMENTARY, WORLD

COMMENTARY BY: Ceylan Ozbudak

I watched in amazement on March 6, 2013, as United States Senator Rand Paul held up a vote of President Obama’s choice for CIA director for thirteen hours straight, demanding that the administration disclaim any pretense of right to use aerial drones to kill American citizens on U.S. soil without due process of law. Senator Paul’s filibuster failed to draw so much as an acknowledgement from the Obama administration. Only the next day did White House spokesman Jay Carney issue a grudging admission that the answer is: “No.” For now, at least, the American people are safe from drone strikes on American soil. But what about the rest of the world? There is no question that drones have been effective in decimating a generation of al Qaeda leadership. But at what cost? Here are the facts: Between 2004-2009, the Bush administration conducted 52 drone strikes. On January 20, 2009 President Obama was inaugurated the 44th President of the United States, and he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to reach out to the Muslim world later that year. Since those heady days, his administration has conducted 365 drone strikes in the Middle East, causing the death of at least 2536 to 3577 people in Pakistan, 228-335 in Yemen, and 7-20 in Somalia.

The Washington Post said in a report issued on Friday that the base had been established in the Nigerien capital of Niamey.

“We just know there are drones; we don’t know what they are doing exactly,” the Post cited Djibril Abarchi, the chairman of the Nigerien Association for the Defense of Human Rights.

“Nothing is visible - there is no transparency in our country with military questions. No one can tell you what’s going on,” Abarchi stated.

Unarmed US Predator drones fly out of the base, which is surrounded by a razor-wire-topped wall, with a 100-strong contingent of US Air Force personnel, the Post said.

On February 22, US President Barack Obama announced that 100 US military personnel had been sent to Niger to provide “support for intelligence collection” and to “facilitate intelligence sharing with French forces conducting operations in Mali, and with other partners in the region.”

The new US drone base is expected to join a constellation of small airstrips for surveillance missions by drones or turboprop planes on the African continent in the coming years.

Commentators say Mali’s abundant natural resources, including gold and uranium reserves, could be one of the reasons behind the French war.

 .... ya think?

.... they are building the fully autonomous
robot AI control grid we remember from TERMINATOR.

"SKYNET – a fictional self-aware robotic intelligence system that
threatened to eradicate humanity in the Terminator."

SKYNET is Real!

The rise of the robot in the 21st century can be directly related with the rise of drone technologies
perfected by the United States Military. Drones or UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicle) have unexpectedly
become popular in the mainstream media. Mostly due to conspiracy theories and Kentucky senator
Rand Paul’s epic13 hour filibuster before congress.

Senator Paul schooled the congressional committee on how drones are currently being used to kill innocent
civilians in Pakistan and Afghanistan and how the use of drones over American skies could potentially be used
from everything to unwarranted spying to capturing and killing terrorist and criminals. Drones for spying and
warfare come as small as mosquito’s, in fact the Air force currently uses robotic drones that look exactly like mosquito’s.

These drones can do everything from record conversations to emitting deadly bio-chemical weapons. The uses
of drones have grown so much that they comprise over 30% of all US Military aircraft. But the real dangers of
drones are the warning signs they signal for the eventual steps towards the A.I. becoming aware.

These warnings can eerily be traced with one word SKYNET – a fictional self-aware robotic intelligence system
that threatened to eradicate humanity in the Terminator.  In the franchise storyline Skynet was an advanced
computer system created for the U.S. military by defense contractors Cyberdyne Systems. Skynet was billed as
the “Global Digital Defense Network” and given Internet command with cloud technology over all computerized
military hardware systems. This robotic WiFi brain system would eventually lead to self-awareness and shortly
after being implemented on April 19, 2011, SKYNET launched a nuclear war that killed billions. While we are still
decades away from reaching the scenario described in the fictional Terminator series, nuclear destruction and the
building blocks that could compose this doom are already being assembled. In fact, as shocking as it sounds there
is even a SKYNET telecommunications satellite that is in orbit right now! Jonathan Amos, Science correspondent
for the BBC writes:

“The Skynet system, which includes the radio equipment deployed on ships, on vehicles and in the hands of troops,
is the UK's single biggest space project. It is valued at up to £3.6bn over 20 years and is run by a commercial
company, Astrium, in a Private Finance Initiative (PFI) with the Ministry of Defence (MoD). UK forces pay an annual
service charge for which they get guaranteed bandwidth, with spare capacity then sold to "friendly forces".

These third party customers include the Nato allies such as the US. The Ariane left the ground at precisely 18:49
local time (21:49 GMT) and dropped off Skynet-5D 27 minutes later over the east coast of Africa. 5D will now use its
own propulsion system to move into a geostationary position at an altitude of 36,000km. The eventual operating
position early next year will be at 53 degrees East. The first three spacecraft in the Skynet series were launched in
2007-2008. They all match the sophistication of the very latest civilian platforms used to pass TV, phone and internet
traffic, but have been "hardened" for military use. Classified technologies on board will resist, for example, attempts to
disable the spacecraft with lasers or to "jam" their operation with rogue signals.”

Since its launch SKYNET has been integrated with NATO military operations and is solely responsible for the destruction
caused by NATO’s executioner drone programs. According to Wikipedia, “Skynet is a family of military satellites, now
operated by Paradigm Secure Communications on behalf of the Ministry of Defense, which provide strategic
communication services to the three branches of the British Armed Forces and to NATO forces engaged on coalition
tasks.”
During the 2012 NATO summit, politicians and Military leaders talked openly for the first time
about using and legalizing robots for warfare.
