A suspect was in custody Monday afternoon after a shooting at an Oakland Christian university left at least five dead.

The gunman is reported to have opened fire in a classroom at Oikos University, hitting some of his victims at point-blank range. Police described the gunman as an Asian male with a heavy build, wearing khaki clothing, but they have not identified the person in custody.

"I can confirm that we do have one person who has been detained that we believe is possibly responsible for this shooting," Officer Johnna Watson said.

TV news footage shows wounded people have been brought out of the building, and more gurneys are being brought in.

Four victims arrived at Highland Hospital for treatment, said spokeswoman Jerri Randrup.
Earlier, television news footage showed officers surrounding the building in search of the suspect. The footage also showed wounded people being carried out of the building, and more gurneys were being brought in.

"One of the people who was inside the building, she was saying there is a crazy guy inside," witness Brian Snow told KGO-TV. "She did say someone got shot in the chest right next to her before she got taken off in an ambulance."

According of its website, Oikos University offers studies in theology, music, nursing and Asian medicine.

Oikos University Shooting: Possible Suspect Detained; At Least 5 Dead

http://abcnews.go.com/US/oikos-university-shooting-suspect-detained-dead/story?id=16056854

By GILLIAN MOHNEY

A gunman who opened fire at Oikos University, a Christian school in Oakland, Calif., this morning, killing at least five people, may be in custody, police said.

According to police the gunman fired multiple shots in the school at 10:33 a.m. Police have not said how many people were killed or wounded, but aerial video from the scene shows five bodies laid out under sheets on the school lawn.

Police described the suspect as an Asian male, 5-foot-9, wearing tan pants, according ABC station KGO-TV in San Francisco.

Hours after the shooting, police said they had detained a "possible suspect."

"We just received information that we believe that we detained a possible suspect who's responsible for the shooting today; again that's just a detention," Oakland Police Department spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said. "We do believe this person may be responsible for this shooting and that's what we're following up with our investigators and our officers are looking into the details of that right now."

One witness described a chaotic scene in the moments after the shooting. Brian Snow was at a nearby credit union, when he first heard the shots and saw a vicitim run out of the building.

"I just heard more gunshots. A lady came out running and she had blood on her arm, but I didn't know how bad the wound was," Snow told KGO Radio. "She was just trying to make sure everyone was safe and took off her jacket and she had a big old hole in her arm."

Oikos University is a Christian university that focuses on nursing. The school's website describes students as "given the opportunity to obtain a Christian education that is based on solid Christian doctrine and ideology. Our main goal is to foster spiritual Christian leaders who abide by God's intentions and to expand God's nation through them."

The gunman was sure those he was shooting at were African American... We'll have a follow up report on this race shooting incident at 11!

... BUT FIRST!  A message from president Obummer on guns, race and hate crimes in America.

No Joke!   Couple this shooting with the Florida shooting and you get this: another back door attempt to take away the 2nd .

Five dead in shooting at Oakland university; suspect arrested
By HARRY HARRIS

Oakland Tribune

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Five people have been killed and several hurt in a shooting Monday at a Christian university in East Oakland, authorities said.

Police would not confirm the total number of casualties from the shooting at Oikos University, but said that a suspect was in custody and had been arrested in Alameda.

People were being evacuated by armored vehicles from the school building, some taken away by ambulance. More were being triaged outside the building and Oakland's Highland Hospital reports that four victims were being treated there.

The shooting happened about 10:23 a.m. in a classroom at Oikos University, when the suspect came in and fired multiple shots.

The school offers degrees in religious, musical and nursing fields, according to its website.

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, said the shooter had previously been a nursing student at Oikos but was no longer enrolled. He was unsure whether the shooter had been expelled or dropped out voluntarily.

Kim did not see the shooting but heard about 30 gunshots. "I stayed in my office," he said, imitating the sound of rapid shots.

Prediction:

The man will have had a history with the mental health system, and will have gone to a state, like Arizona, that will not have required a background check as to his psychiatric history, to acquire his weapons legally. This will lead to a push to federalize all gun laws.

Ex-student ID'd as suspect in shooting at Oikos University in California that killed 7

OAKLAND, Calif. –  A 43-year-old former student of a small Christian university in California opened fire at the school Monday, killing at least seven people and setting off an intense, chaotic manhunt that ended with his capture at a nearby shopping center, authorities said.

Police Chief Howard Jordan said One L. Goh surrendered about an hour after the shooting at Oikos University. Jordan initially reported that authorities recovered the weapon used during the rampage, but later clarified that police only recovered enough ballistics evidence to determine that a handgun was used in the rampage.

.................

Those connected to the school, including the founder and several students, described the gunman as a former nursing student. The chief said Goh is a Korean national who's a former student of the university.

A call to the Korean consulate in San Francisco went unanswered Monday.

The suspect's brother was killed in a car accident last year in Virginia while on active duty in the U.S. Army, according to Stars and Stripes newspaper. The suspect attended the funeral of Sgt. Su Wan Ko in Centreville, Va. after the March 8, 2011, accident.

At Highland Hospital, Dawinder Kaur's family told the Oakland Tribune that she was being treated for a gunshot to her elbow.

The 19-year-old U.S. Army Reservist told her family that that the gunman was a student in her nursing class who had been absent for months before returning Monday. The gunman entered the classroom and ordered students to line up against the wall.

When he showed his gun, students began running and he opened fire, her family said.

"She told me that a guy went crazy and she got shot," brother Paul Singh told the newspaper. "She was running. She was crying; she was bleeding, it was wrong."

Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, told the newspaper that he did not know if the shooter was expelled or dropped out. Kim said he heard about 30 rapid-fire gunshots in the building.

"I stayed in my office," he said.

Deborah Lee, who was in an English language class, said she heard five to six gunshots at first. "The teacher said, `Run,' and we run," she said. "I was OK, because I know God protects me. I'm not afraid of him."

The suspect was detained at a Safeway supermarket about three miles from the university, about an hour after the shooting.

A security guard at the supermarket approached the man because he was acting suspiciously, KGO-TV reported. The man told the guard that he needed to talk to police because he shot people, and the guard called authorities.

"He didn't look like he had a sign of relief on him. He didn't look like he had much of any emotion on his face," said Lisa Resler, who was buying fruit at Safeway with her 4-year-old daughter when she saw the man.

Goh also called his father soon after the shooting and told him what happened, the police chief said. The father also called authorities, Jordan said.

Oakland shooting suspect One L. Goh was upset about teasing, police say

(CBS/AP) OAKLAND, Calif. - Police say One L. Goh, the former Oikos University student who is accused of killing seven in a school shooting, was upset about being teased over his poor English skills and went to the school Monday to find a female administrator.

Goh "went through the entire building systematically and randomly shooting victims," Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said at a news conference Tuesday. Goh forced a secretary into a classroom and asked people to line up, Jordan said.

"Not everyone was cooperative, and that's when he began shooting," he said. The dead included six students and the secretary, he said.

Jordan said Goh appeared to have planned the attack for several weeks.
...
"They disrespected him, laughed at him. They made fun of his lack of English speaking skills. It made him feel isolated compared to the other students," Jordan said.

The 43-year-old South Korean national had been expelled, possibly for behavioral problems, according to Jordan.

In his former home state of Virgina, Goh left behind a string of debts and minor traffic citations. He was also evicted from one apartment complex. His brother was killed in a car accident last year in Virginia while on active duty in the U.S. Army, according to Stars and Stripes newspaper.

After the shooting, Goh fled from the school in a Honda Accord that belonged to one of the victims, Jordan said. He was detained about an hour later at a Safeway supermarket about three miles from the university.

Police on Tuesday were still looking for the gun used, which Jordan described as a semiautomatic handgun.

In addition to distrust with the school’s administration and its students, authorities add that Goh was heavily in debt. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that his federal tax liens totaled more than $23,000 recently and he had also been previously evicted from an apartment in Hayes, Virginia, where he was also behind in his rent. Furthermore, Goh had recently lost two family members as of late, including one at the hands of the US military.

His brother, U.S. Army Sgt. Su Wan Ko, died in a car crash last year while engaged in a special forces training mission.

Police went to the Westlake Christian Terrace senior housing complex on Monday afternoon to speak with a relative of Goh, Nam Ko Young, who's believed to be the man's father, said Young's neighbor, Barbara Ferguson.

OK whats he doing out in the middle of nowhere in a rented car and doesn't see the BIG BOULDER???

Army sergeant killed on I-77

Su Wan Ko, 31, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was killed when the 2010 Toyota Camry he was driving struck a boulder that had rolled onto Interstate 77 on Monday night

A U.S. Army sergeant was killed while traveling north on Interstate 77 in Carroll County on Monday night.

According to Virginia State Police First Sgt. Mike Musser, Su Wan Ko, 31, of Colorado Springs, Colorado was killed in the accident. His name had been withheld since Monday until authorities could reach his next of kin.

At 8:04 p.m., the Virginia State Police received word of a boulder that had fallen onto the left lane of I-77 from the embankment in the median at the 3.8 mile marker. Interstate 77 is three lanes at this part of the roadway, so two lanes of traffic were clear.

Virginia State Police Sergeant Mike Musser said traffic control had been notified to update message boards warning motorists, and two troopers had been dispatched to take care of the issue.

But a minute after the state police received word of the boulder on the roadway, 911 received the call that a car had hit the boulder.

Ko struck the boulder at 8:05 p.m. in a rented 2010 Toyota Corolla and died at the scene. Musser said all signs indicated that he didn’t see the boulder, as there was no indication of skidding. Musser said the stone was the size of a small car.

Virginia State Trooper Shane Kinney investigated the accident

Or maybe there were no skid marks because his brakes were no longer responsive, as was his steering, transmission, etc.  Shades of the Princess Diana death.

Goh had felt bullied by other students because of his poor English skills, he said.

At the age of 43, aren't you supposed to be able to handle a little teasing?  Anyway it sounds like many of the students were just learning English, so would they even have 'bullied' him about it?

"The suspect has willingly spoken to investigators, but has refused to say where he discarded the gun, Jordan said.  Otherwise, "He's been very cooperative with us," the chief said. "He has not been particularly remorseful, but very cooperative." "

So why wouldn't you tell the cops where you tossed the gun?  Does the suspect even know what happened to the gun?

OAKLAND -- The Oakland Estuary search for a .45 semi-automatic pistol police believe One L. Goh used to kill seven people and wound three others at Oikos University was called off Wednesday morning and won't be resumed unless better information about its whereabouts is learned, authorities said.

Oakland and San Francisco police and Alameda County sheriff's deputies ended the search about 2 a.m. in the shallow waters in the 7200 block of Doolittle Drive, which is along the route police believe Goh took to Alameda where he surrendered.

The search had started Tuesday morning, partially based on fresh footprints found on the shoreline.

Goh has refused to tell police where he discarded the gun, but he has confessed to the Monday morning rampage. He told investigators he was angry at a particular school administrator who would not help him get back a $6,000 tuition fee as well as other students for disrespecting him.

He has also refused to tell them where his most recent residence was.

The 43-year-old Goh, is due to be arraigned in Alameda County Superior Court at 2 p.m. Wednesday. He has not yet been formally charged but is being held without bail at Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of seven counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, kidnapping and carjacking.

Police claim they haven't found the murder weapon yet--described as a .45 cal semi automatic.  Despite being described as 'cooperative,' cops claim the suspect hasn't told them how he got rid of it.

Maybe they really did find the gun but it traces back to "Operation Fast and Furious," and they need time to come up with a substitute.

Just an hour and a half after the Oakland shooting, there was another whack shooting, this time in Missisissipi:

Five people were shot also on April 2, 2012, on Monday afternoon when a man walked into Hattiesburg, Mississippi's Cucos Mexican Cafe and Cantina off U.S. 49 and opened fire at random.
Scott Tyner, a 44-year-old Hattiesburg resident, has been charged with five counts of aggravated assault in the shooting.

http://www.wlbt.com/story/17333280/cucos-shooter-makes-first-court-appearance
Scott Tyner made his first appearance in Hattiesburg municipal court Wednesday afternoon. Judge George Schmidt denied Tyner bond on all five counts of aggravated assault.
Outside the courtroom, Tyner said he confessed to police. He explained he was "angry" and "drunk," and expressed regret over what he had done.

http://www.wdam.com/story/17321947/alleged-cucos-shooter-arrested-writings-discovered-online
Tyner lives on South 21st Avenue, near the scene of the shooting. Neighbors said he kept to himself, but usually left his front door open and back porch light on. They said he shaved his head a few days before the shooting and started keeping his door closed and the light off. ...
Tyner has a history of being involved in local politics. .... Tyner also has had several politically charged opinion pieces published on the Internet and in local newspapers. The most recent writing published under the name of Scott Tyner from Hattiesburg at www.opednews.com criticizes reports concerning the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and expressed the belief those buildings were destroyed by controlled demolitions and not from burning jet fuel. Other writings, in the diary section, mention gun control and the ramifications of "the removal of the ability of states and citizens to stand up to a U.S. military dictatorship."

The murder weapon has been found:

Police have recovered the gun they believe was used by a disgruntled former nursing student who went on a killing spree at a small private Christian university in East Oakland, authorities said.
The .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol was found Friday morning in a marshy tributary exposed by low tide. The spot is not on the stretch of the Oakland Estuary that police had been searching since Tuesday.
Officers were alerted to the new location after a passer-by found a gun magazine Thursday night, authorities said. The weapon, was found nearby along the shoreline Friday morning.

There are still unresolved questions on this shooting.  First, why did Goh not tell the police where he ditched the gun?  He was described as cooperative and admitted the whole shooting.  Was it just good luck that an unnamed 'passerby' found the magazine which led to the discovery of the handgun nearby?

From the released police logs, it sounds like the shooter was still on scene when the cops arrived, which raises questions as to how the gunman managed to get away, or whether there were two shooters.

Log 2
0:40: Code 3 Edgewater and rolling. Oakland fire on scene.
1:52: The shooter's name might be Y-nell.
3:11: .... We're getting information that the suspect is in there reloading. You got that?
4:36: The suspect is armed with a small handgun.
6:27: Be advised we have live fire. Copy. Live fire. ... We need entry to make contact with the shooter. ... I need at least three officers there so we can stack up and to make an active entry. We have an active shooter ... We have four units in front now ... We have established a point of entry... And we have the officers here ready to go in. (Editor's note: Officers later surmised the shooter was gone by the time they arrived.)

There a problems with the motive, too.  Goh allegedly told police the primary target was intended to be a woman with whom he had no dispute:

--Sources say Goh, 43, told police he was trying to find Wonja Kim, the former assistant director of the nursing program, when he went to the school Monday morning. ...
Kim, who left her assistant director's post last year, said Friday she has no idea why she would have been Goh's target. She said she believed she was not involved in any dispute about fees.
"I never dealt with him and never heard anything about him not getting money back," said Kim, who stressed that she was working only once or twice a week at the school before leaving in November.
Kim said she has "no idea" why Goh might have been after her. "I had left already."

Special Ops connections...

No weapon found, then "possible" weapon found with zero trajectory or ballistics data other than "wounds appear to be caused by a handgun"...

One shooter doing what only 3-7 shooters, 3-7 spotters, 2-5 command room operators, 10-20 media liasons, 6-8 narrative revisors, 15-25 crime scene manipulators, and over 100,000 Rothschild mockingbird journalists could do...

Perfectly timed and architected target to push for Rothschild/Rockefeller anti-2nd amendment narratives...

NOTHING TO SEE MOVE ALONG!

His brother has a different last name , so does his father ?... It's a korean thing?

Goh = Ko = Ko

Same family name, just different presentation/placement.

Records show that the defendant legally changed his name from Su Nam Ko to One L. Goh in Virginia in 2002.   Goh appears to lack a felony conviction, but court records in Portsmouth County, Va., show he was arrested there under his earlier name for misdemeanor assault and battery in 1993.

So he's been in the US for at least 20 years or so.  There has been little info on his background other than that he used to work some construction back east before coming to California.  My guess is the guy was a military veteran, like his brother.  Most of these whack shooters have some contact with the military at some point.

Accused Gunman In Oakland Massacre Tells CBS 5 He’s ‘Deeply Sorry’

April 11, 2012 8:49 PM

OAKLAND (CBS 5) – The man charged with shooting seven people to death at a Christian college in Oakland last week said he is “deeply sorry” but acknowledged “that word doesn’t help.”

In an exclusive jailhouse interview with CBS 5, the alleged killer, One L. Goh, appeared shaken and remorseful.

“Families are so angry with me,” said Goh, who was interviewed by reporter Juliette Goodrich at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. “(But) if I tell them sorry, it doesn’t bring anybody back.”
...
According to police and witnesses, Goh ordered students in a nursing class to line up against a classroom wall and shot them, one-by-one, with a .45 caliber pistol.
...
The South Korea native moved to the United States as a boy and later moved to Oakland. He entered Oikos to study nursing, but was asked to leave the school in November, 2011, in the wake of disciplinary issues. According to some accounts, Go had unsuccessfully been demanding that the school refund his tuition.

“I was going to be a nurse,” said Goh, 43, who spoke English clearly, despite accounts that he had struggled with the language and was embarrassed by his lack of fluency. “I was studying to be a nurse … but it didn’t happen. It is complicated to explain.”
